Very nice file cabinet. Exactly what I wanted. The handles have to be screwed on but other than that no other assembly. The handles were a little hard to screw on since the screws are self tapping but it can be done.

Sought an inexpensive, temporary file for household papers. This was perfect: decently made, arrived with no dents or nicks. Drawers function smoothly. Since it's lighter weight, you need to try to distribute weight evenly back-to-front and upper vs.lower. Handle it gently, and it does an admirable job for the money. It's a keeper.

this is great, light weight so if you have to move this around your office, plenty of space inside for all your files and the bottom drawer has a key so you can keep certain things hidden.. Definitely worth the money...

Arrived in 2 days in great condition. All parts present. I am a 71 year old woman and put it together in 2 hours with a few rest periods. I used some suggestions from others reviewers. I dipped all screws in wood glue. Added more nails to the backing and used string method to make sure it was square in the back. It is sturdy and the drawers open and close with no problems. Just put one file in to see how they fit and it works great. May not be an expensive piece of furniture but for the money it's just fine.

Product had to be assembled. It came with detailed instructions and was very easy to put together. Once completed it was perfect! Exactly what I was looking for.

Listen, for a $40 file cabinet my expectations weren't exceedingly high, but this little file cabinet is pretty good. There are far better cabinets that exist certainly that will do the same thing this will. It's particle board with a dark wood finishing, but it does what it's supposed to do and is a nice compliment to an office on a budget.

Loving it. Took hubby a few hours to put together, but I'm slowly putting files into the cabinet. Holds them securely and there is no slipping from the railing. So everything stays as it placed.

Nice for the price. It was fairly simple to put together. I first went to the popular home office supplies places. You couldn't get a file cabinet for 3 times this amount. I was shocked and wasted three hours driving around looking. Hadn't even thought about ordering but happy I did. Good quality, saved money and speedy shipping

Great price and more or less functional. In retrospect, wish I had paid a little extra for full-extension drawers, but I needed several, so the cost would have been prohibitive. Basically, a solid piece of office furniture at a reasonable price.

Is it decent quality. The lock isn't amazing... But as long as the people aren't determined to get in it will keep people out. It's a strong suggestion to keep out. But it does lock. Other than that it seems to be made well enough for home use.

Rugged and does the job. Obviously not for you if you need strong security, because this little lock would be easy to force. For the price, there's not much to complain about.You have to screw in the handles yourself, but they supply screws.

I needed a filing cabinet and this one certainly fit the bill! It's lighter than I thought it would be. The assembly was just attaching the handles with screws - easy enough. Some other reviews mentioned the drawers not pulling out all the way and it's true, they don't. At the time, I underestimated how annoying this would be. Basically the last 5 1/2 inches of the draw stays inside the cabinet making it unaccessible, unless you slide your hand in and pull the files forward. Other than that, it's a perfectly good filing cabinet.

Purchased this as a holiday gift for my Dad in assisted living in Sarasota, FL. I got free shipping directly to his door & it arrived in a timely manner. My Dad didn't know what it was as there was no identifying description of product in the box. My wife & I wrapped it when we got to FL & he was surprised & delighted. Just fine for his filing needs.

This file cabinet joins five other almost identical black cabinets that line my office wall.They look cool and are servicable for storing documents and other office related parephenalia. However the concept of security is an illusion. Any two-bit punk with a screwdriver is capable of popping open any of the drawers. Or, if the punk is muscular, he can simply pick up a cabinet and flee the premises. The cabinet I purchased from Amazon is also identical to the five previous purchases in another respect: It is incredibly difficult to attach the handles to the drawers. A high level of skill and patience are required. The extra screws are a necessary feature. But beware: I bought the other cabinets on sale at Target for only $28.00 each. Although the Amazon drawers have much stronger bottoms, it is debatable if this is worth the additional cost. For me the convinience of buying it on line from Amazon was tolerable: I'm getting lazy in my old age.

This piece arrived very early. Boxed nicely. Good piece for the price paid. I was missing a few screws found a few that worked in my tool box. One part that is very flimsy is the thin cardboard they give you to put in the back. I went to Home Depot and got piece of plyboard. For 3.60 it holds it better less shaky. I used longer nails not necessary. Not recommended I chipped my piece. But was able to cover it. I think everyone complaining about how cheaply it's made, you should take into consideration the price tag. You want better quality spend more.

One thing I really hate to do is put things together!! This wasn't to bad! When I was done it looked like the picture! It is sturdy, nice looking, reasonable price, files hung even are easy to get to. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice file cabinet for their office.

This cabinet is super easy to assemble. I did so on my own and it took about 40 minutes. It is sturdy if assembled with care. I read previous reviews that stated that the drawers don't necessarily fit as expected... this was not my experience. I use files inside the drawers with tabs--the drawers dont rub the tabs and the tabs dont make it difficult to open or close drawers.I am giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 only because the cabinet appears to be a much lighter color in the photo than what I received.

Once put together, this is a very good product. HOWEVER, you had better know how to read complicated directions and put many pieces together. Fortunately I had a teen around that was good at doing that type of thing. I never would have been able to do it myself.

Very simple and somewhat flimsy, however considering the cost and little usage it'll get other than to store files long term, it's worth the price.

It is well built and nice looking, but in a million pieces. LOL We started putting it together today. It says it'seasy.

The handles are too low on the drawers and once loaded, the drawers are difficult to open. When the it carton arrived, it was dirty as if it had sat for a long periods of time in the warehouse. Once opened, the cabinet itself was FILTHY from the slit in the box!!

Cheap and light. This is for your little kid and not a professional adult for an office environment.

The drawers glide out easily, but not all the way. I was hoping it would slide out all the way. I asked for a refund, but I would have to pay too much to ship it back and I think it was a restocking fee as well. It wasn't worth sending back, so I just kept it. It isn't made extremely well either. It is made cheaply and can tip over since the drawers don't pull all the way out. It is difficult to get to your files in the back of the drawer. I'd buy something else next time I need one.

The cabinets arrived well protected and on time. It is fine, if you just need storage of lightweight items and not concerned about someone breaking into the cabinet.The price was great, but we found the product is not very strong. It can be locked, but you can twist the thin metal and the latch comes loose. Not many people would try to unlatch, but we are in a work area and it was not as strong as I had wished. This is a pretty good moderately sized cabinet. The one complaint I have is that the screws to put the handles in place seem too long. I twisted them in as deeply as I could and there still is a lot space left between head of the screw and the base of the handles. The effect is that the handles do not fit snuggly against the draw and instead droop out. But the product arrived on time and it was cheap, so it'll do for now.

The materials arrived well packaged and in good condition. Construction of the file cabinet is pretty straightforward, took approximately 20-30 minutes, and only takes a few simple hand tools (hammer, flat head screwdriver, and Phillips head screwdriver). Halfway through putting this file cabinet together I started getting disappointed in the quality of the materials and how it looked in person. The handles for the two drawers are plastic, and the cabinet itself is made out of cheap, lightweight material to the point that the file cabinet actually leans forward a little when the top drawer is opened. In general, I was disappointed after putting it together. File folders fit inside well, but the sliding rails for file folders are just two plastic pieces that you slide on top of the side of the drawers.If you're looking for a cheap cabinet to put papers in, this will probably get the trick done for you, but personally I wish I had just bought a metal file cabinet. I expect this file cabinet wouldn't last too long if it was getting moved from location to location, as the hardware holding it together would eventually fail.Pros: Price, easy to put together, materials were in good conditionCons: Cheap materials, not stable, poor quality

It works pretty well and is pretty stable. I have a feeling that the bad reviews on here are from people not following the assembly instructions as they are a bit confusing.

Still on the hunt for a quality file cabinet that won't look like an industrial mistake from the 90's in your home? Keep looking.The fit isn't so great, but it does hold files. Don't expect miracles, and you'll be fine.The drawer pulls are pretty flimsy, and we happened to have some old antique pulls from some time ago laying around, so that was a neat little upgrade, but otherwise this is for a low-use environment.

I would give this a 3 star review. You are getting what you pay for here. Lots of manual assembly from attaching the drawer runners to hammering in a back cover, takes an hour or so for someone who knows what they are doing, if you arent handy good luck. Functions fine and looks nice, other reviews about instability are on point, fill bottom drawer first. You might be better off building your own cabinet actually now that I am thinking about it.

Pro's - is that is cheap, affordable and exactly as it is described. Assembly was and took about 30 minutes just following the images in the instructions. No complaints here.Con's - It is a bit smaller than I imaged. The down side to this is I have a lot of older records I keep in it which tend to be a bit heavy. So when I open the top or bottom draws it tends to lean forward. This is huge bummer for me because of the whole tilting deal. I wasn't expecting it to be perfect. It was only 5x dollars. However, I only gave it a two stars because of my old service records cause the cabinet to tilt when the draws are opened.Summary - If you are don't have very heavy files to store in this cabinet I feel this will be ideal for your needs. However, looking back now I did not take into consideration the weight of the files I was trying to organize. Just be mindful it is made of MDF and is laminated. Also be mindful if you fill it up with bulky or heavy files it tends to lean forward. I file stuff regularly so I am in and out of this cabinet. So I will have to replace it with a more balance unit in the future sooner rather than later. It received 3 stars because of the leaning.

Really not impressed with the filing cabinet. Every time I have to reopen the drawers everything pushes to the back making it hard to bring it back forwards.

I wish I decided to put a little more money into a filing cabinent. The handles are cheap, and mine are not screwing in quite right. It is very light weight and tips over easy. I think it is worth the extra 20 bucks to get something a little nicer.

I thought this cabinet was going to be more sturdy. I have a lot of school and now job papers I need to keep organized. I just was not impressed.

It's ok - but the handles come detached from the cabinet and the screws supplied don't fit into the handle. I ordered 11 of these and had to send 11 tubes of superglue to help with assembly.

I guess it works, but it is poor quality. I ordered two of these and one of them came dented/damaged. I did not bother to return it because I was able to arrange the damaged cabinet in the corner of the wall )damaged side facing the wall) and it was not very noticeable. Disappointed.

First, know that this comes in a VERY heavy flat pack, with a bunch of pieces. I made a point of reading the assembly instructions very carefully, and I took almost three hours to put this together. At the end, the thing was wonky. The drawers do not sit right in it. I used to work in electronics as an assembler, and I was very good with tools and manual dexterity. I made this for my 82-year-old mother. We are disappointed in the outcome. I can recommend that you buy something a bit more expensive, and make sure it's already assembled. It will be worth it.

I expected a put-it-together-yourself type of cabinet, and that's exactly what this is. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and the assembly is pretty simplistic. However, the drawers seem to be too narrow; the wheels keep coming out of the side tracks causing the top drawer to fall onto the lower drawer. I had to remove the wheel brackets from the drawers and reinstall them with spacers behind them to make the drawer "wider". The cabinet does look nice but this is another example of you get what you pay for.

I typically actually enjoy assembling things, but this was maddening. Took me 2 hours. And even then, the drawers don't fit right. Maybe it's easy for a trained carpenter, but not your average human. I did nothing wrong, I've recheck a thousand times, but one drawer has a gap on the left and the other has a gap in the right. Maybe the guide holes were incorrect, but it is not symmetrical at all. I just want it for a hidden office file cabinet, so it'll get the job done for me (it isn't falling apart or anything), but beware if you want this out in he open- it looks cheap and is miserable to assemble

Easy enough to put together but is so unsteady, unsturdy, and feels like if I move it it's going to break. I wouldn't buy this again.

For the price, this cabinet will work, as I just need it for storage of old files. But if I had paid any more for it, I would have returned it. All the holes for assembly are pre-drilled, and after carefully following the directions using their holes and fasteners, the cabinet is together and solid. But the drawers don't fit in properly at all. All along the left edge there is a 1/4 inch gap next to the drawers, but the right side is a bit tight. There is no toe-kick board as shown in the image, it is just open to the bottom board of the cabinet with a wood grain front edge. The top drawer hits the top and right side of the cabinet, and there is no way to align it differently. On the plus side, all the hardware was included and worked well. The drawer fronts are held on with injection molded plastic brackets, and I had to trim the molding flash off of them to fit the screws in. The file rails are extruded plastic channels that just pinch over the top side of the drawers, so I would guess you can't put a lot of weight in the hanging folders before it will bend and break. The wood is a poor quality chip board with a wood-grain vinyl finish. The drawer sides don't match the shade of the wood on the outside of the cabinet, but the drawer fronts do. All in all, I wish I had shopped longer, and maybe bought a more expensive cabinet.

I'm in the same boat as a lot of the other folks who rated this poorly. I'm very proficient at putting together paint by numbers furniture, let's face it, it's not difficult. On a positive note...the instructions are easy enough to understand, it seems sturdy, and assembly was less than an hour. Sadly, both drawers rub a little and don't 'glide' like they are supposed to. Some of the larger pieces don't fit together squarely giving you a piece of furniture with uneven corners, awkward gaps, and looks as though it was assembled by a Toddler. I'm convinced the picture in the company's ad was photoshopped. Fortunately for me this was always planned to be kept in a closet so it's obvious cosmetic flaws won't be such a burden but that doesn't make this piece any less a disappointment. Had this been a piece I'd planned for public display it would have been sent back or replaced immediately. If you're looking for something on the cheaper side just to "get you through" then perhaps buy it and keep your expectations low. In hindsight I would have just spent an extra $50 and got a really nice piece that would have looked better, functioned properly, and presumably last much longer.

The filing cabinet arrived with a large dent in the side, as well as a small dent in the top front drawer even though the box it arrived in was undamaged. Drawers do not open and close properly.

The box seemed way too light to contain a metal filing cabinet. I pulled it out of the box and immediately regretted opening it. The metal is SO thin. The lock has to be joke - when you wiggle it the metal around it bends too. I could easily rip it out with my bare hands, and I'm a small lady.The handles came in a brown paper bag with exactly four screws. If you lose one like I did, too bad - you're going to have a dangling handle. They were a pain to put on, because the screw holes were too small.I laughed when I realized the drawers don't even have casters to slide out on - they sit on basically flat metal! The standard size hanging file folders I took out of my old cabinet didn't fit - they were too big by a millimeter - so I had to go buy more. The new ones fit so snugly they don't slide well. They wouldn't even slide well if they did fit, because there is no special track for them to slide on like every other filing cabinet I have ever seen. They just hang on the sides of the cabinet.The drawers don't slide out all the way, so you have to reach back and pull forward the hidden files every time. Also, don't put any files on the top drawer or it will tip over when you open it. I left the top drawer mostly empty and I still don't trust it without a stack of heavy books on top to keep it stable. Don't put anything too heavy on it though, or you'll dent the aluminum foil - oops, I mean metal.This piece of junk fails in every way a filing cabinet can. Cheap, impractical, ugly, and barely functional. If I had to put a price on it, I'd say $15. I feel cheated and angry for paying almost $60. There are no way these positive reviews are from actual customers. There are websites that allow you to purchase positive reviews, and I'd bet another $60 that's what this company has done.

I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone. The original price is $140.00. I would have returned this filing cabinet if I paid that much. It's very flimsy and cheaply made...definitely not worth $140.00.

First of all, this item is at Wal-mart for 32.88 and even that is asking too much. I felt as if I was going to pierce thru the paper thin tin fronts while installing the handles. The lock holds on one side but leaves plenty of leeway on the other and that's only if you don't pull the handle thru the drawer with light pressure.... The ails saying of you get what you pay for is true with this item.... Wish I would have learned a $33 dollar lesson instead of the $60 lesson by purchasing from this site and Restockit....filing cabinets should be shopped in person....these positive reviews are FAKE

Whoever build this and placed the holes where you put the screws should be fired!!! I followed the direction to the T and when done it looked like something out of Alice and wonderland. It looked lopsided when I put the draws in. I made it look better bye making my own new holes and adjusted the brackets and it looks ok but still small gap in the draw. It would be a pain in my ass to take it apart and send it back so I feel stuck with what I got but don't buy this. I'll be getting a different one down the road for sure.

Do yourself a favor and spend the $20 extra to get a half decent cabinet. I was aware the Material would be cheap but the pieces didn't fit properly at all. The drawers hardly go in at all and require a lot of force to wedge them into place. I spent the better part of 2 years building cheap furniture like this and I'm confident it wasn't user error while assembling. The whole thing is crooked and I won't be using it for what I originally intended.

I would give this zero stars if it was possible. It is made of cheap composite wood. My first one I had delivered was broken. So I had to talk to a few people at Amazon to get another one shipped out to me. The second one wasn't broken when I received it but once it was put together the drawers do not line in properly to the structure. It's a terrible product and worst of all, Amazon charged me twice for it!

I had the same problem as many of the other reviewers. My husband I are were meticulous with how we put it together, and the drawers were still crooked like in the pictures others posted (See image attached). There is a serious flaw with the manufacturing of this product. It is just plain crooked and not functional because the drawers don't push in all the way. I'm super disappointed with this product and even though it was cheap, I still am upset that I wasted money on it.

I am very unhappy with the quality of the product. I understand that it is an inexpensive item and should not be of the utmost quality, but when you can clearly see that there was an alignment problem with their machine when drilling the holes making the whole cabinet crooked, that is unacceptable. I should at least have a straight piece of furniture. Section C and D we're completely drilled in correctly.

Don't buy this file cabinet unless you want one with drawers that don't fit squarely. I don't mind a lengthy assembly. The parts are all clearly identified and the instructions were not difficult to understand. But at least with Ikea when you take the time to put something together it looks nice and drawers fit without large, very visible gaps. It's too big to send back without going to a lot of trouble. Better to just not buy it.
