New model much safer than older ones
August 17, 2017
Much safer than the older mandolins. Found it much cheaper a couple of weeks after this one was delivered but as the old saying goes, "tooooo late"! Wife still managed to cut her finger pretty good as she didn't take the time to get the safety slicer on properly. Haste makes blood.

The more I use it the more I like it. Slicing is perfect. Dicing takes some practice.

I have used this product twice now and I love it. I love that it is all in 1. I would never use it because of all the fuss with all the parts, cleaning, use and unorganized storage. With this unit you just open the back protective blade door and put it in the dishwasher and it folds up nicely in 1 unit for storage. Love it! Once I had a good strategy (driest vegetables to most moist vegetables) I was able to get all my vegetable slicing for the week and clean up done in about 1 hour.

I review this in Youtube, before actully purchase this. Product is beyond expection.Pro.there is off switch that will not even allow you to cut your finger.Easey to clean, just rinse with water, dry and storehandle on the side make it even better to slice and saferthere are two large blade with turn, they are sharp but not super sharp.1 product compactCon.they cut well, not super well. but more of this use for slicer.no much of cut option so if you are looking for dicer, this may be close but not too close.
I love really every aspect of it
December 1, 2015
I really don't write many reviews, but I use this so often that I thought it was only fair that I did for this item. This was the first Mandoline that I've ever bought; did a lot of shopping around trying to find the "right" one for the right price. I settled on this one with a bit of trepidation. I think it is going on a year or so since I bought this; I use it at least three or four times a week to make french fries, waffle fries, matchstick slices of carrots and other vegetables for stir fry, and I even use it to do my initial cuts for making potato salad. Simple and safe to use; I love really every aspect of it. I give a product stars depending on whether or not I would buy that product again or go with something else. If I end up breaking the one I have now, I would definitely grab one of these again, so I'm giving it five stars. Really, no complaints at all. (When initially researching Mandonlines I was concerned that it was a bit more expensive but, having watched the youtube video, as I said, I decided on this one and, as I've also said, have not regretted my decision.)
Nice
March 13, 2015
I really like this mandoline. I was nervous at first to use it because I've heard about those who have sliced their fingers on the blades but it has a lock option so that when you store it the blade is out of the way. I also bought NoCry Cut Resistant Gloves 'just in case'. It cuts vegetables nicely but I did have trouble with slicing pepperoni. I had to press fairly hard and the metal part was bending. It didn't hurt the mandoline but if they could improve the thickness of the metal parts I think it would help with hard slicing foods like pepperoni. It made great French Fry slices and I love how quickly it sliced raw onions. Overall, I really like it.

Great product!
January 31, 2017
This mandoline is exactly what I wanted. Especially like that blades are built in and available with the flip of a switch. Curbing function is pretty easy after a little practice. Although I caught a good sale, item is still a little pricey so subtracted 1/2 a star. Subtracted the other 1/2 because there seems to be a small dull spot after only a few uses. I still love this product though.
Professional Level

This slicing / cubing mandoline is professional grade. Easy to use and you get what is offered in the specification. Price is high, but definitely a good purchase based on the functionality and quality of the product
Mandoline reigns.

My neighbors love the home made kettle chips this thing makes. Well, so do I. You never have to touch the blades. You clean it up in the dishwasher. It works as advertised.Waffle chips are da bomb.I apologize for the bad Bruce Hornsby pun.
No complaints -- I'd say it's worth the money
May 10, 2015
A versatile and powerful machine. It took me a while to get the hang of it though. It does quite a few things, and operating it is not all that intuitive at first, given the skimpy documentation. The machine could really benefit from an illustrated "How To" document. That's the only reason I'm not giving it five stars. But it does work as advertised. Most pleasant surprise: easy to clean, and dishwasher safe. And, as others have noted, the blade is s-h-a-r-p. Within three days of owning it I sliced a layer of skin from my thumb by being careless. Respect this machine to avoid an early grave.

The only thing I don't like about this is that it doesn't have a paper-thin adjustment. I don't need it for most things though so I still love it. When I ordered it, I was afraid of cutting myself so I also bought a pair of protective gloves. Once I got the mandoline and used it, I realized that there was no way I could cut myself so I wear the gloves when I use my grater!
Easy to use & clean
February 10, 2015
Easy to use & clean. Only one gripe...sometimes the vegetable holder slides off on the upstroke. You just can't use large cutting strokes. Love the fact that you can't lose the different blades...they are all there when you need them!

Well made, but only slicing is easy! Tough to cube vergetables.
March 29, 2017
Only the slicer works well for me. Cubing just does not work, no matter how much I try. Trying to julienne some carrots, since I do not have large quantities, ends up easier manually with a knife. Like with all Mandolins, strongly suggest wearing protective gloves.
but it doesn't cut cleanly or easily. Arrived on time
October 28, 2016
Bought this because it had the waffle cutter. Maybe it's because a waffle cutter blade is hard to sharpen, but it doesn't cut cleanly or easily. Arrived on time. It cost less than others I looked at but still too much $ for what it does.
Hard to use.
September 19, 2016
Didn't work well for us. Seemed that the blades were dull.
I may give this one to a friend who said they would like it.
January 14, 2016
Too bulky and honestly a bit scary to use. I found lighter weight one and it's not so frightening to use. I may give this one to a friend who said they would like it.
It is okay
November 30, 2015
A bit expensive and it needs to be able to make thicker slices. Purchased this 6 months ago and only used a few times. On the plus side it does hold the vegetable well so there is no chance to cut yourself.
it works but......
May 29, 2015
Was a disappointed that the blade is not as sharp as I thought it would be....fresh out of the box I could not cut through a tomato even on the thickest setting. Also not sure if it just me or the way I do it but the cut is not consisted one side is thicker than the other no matter what I try to cut

Blade not sharp and cant seem to get one
September 6, 2017
I am not sure i would buy this again. It works great on onions for slicing and dicing, but blade is not sharp enough for tomato.I tried to get a new blade, but they wouldn't respond to email. I had a cheaper unit that would slice tomato.i will probably get one of those again and just use this for dicing onions.if anybody know how to get a blade for this let me know. blade would not slice tomato when new. i have had it a few months.

I ended up returning because when I received it it felt a little flimsy. The picture makes it look like a lot of it is metal but maybe I just didnt look hard enough

February 8, 2016
I bought this product after reviewing a lot of others. It appeared to be the most flexible and durable....I used my new mandoline for the first time night before last. I was slicing potatoes. On the last slice, 8-10 of the plastic prongs on the hand guard were sheared off by the blade. I have attached a picture. The broken prongs are at the bottom. I feel this is a design problem. I hope the manufacturer will replace. Thank you.
Dices and slices just fine. BUT if you wreck the blade
November 8, 2015
Dices and slices just fine. BUT if you wreck the blade, you've got a $70 disposable razor, It is not replaceable. Would not buy again.
Extremely Disappointed--Won't Cut the Most Basic Veggie of All!
August 9, 2015
This slicer seems like it does everything--it's heavy duty with many slicing options, however, it won't handle the most basic veggie of all--tomatoes! I cannot slice a tomato with this gadget. I had a Boerner V-Slicer that I used almost every single day for about 20 years pluys, and it was still super sharp as the day I bought it. The only reason I replaced it was because the plastic on the handle holding the food finally cracked. I'm going to buy another Boerner and give up on this one. I contacted the company and asked if the knife could be replaced and explained that it would not cut tomatoes, but I never received a reply. I am extremely disappointed in this product.
Plastic very cheap, very breakable
March 1, 2015
I hate writing bad reviews because almost everyone on here that writes them, writes them about the shipping being slow and not the actual product. After working in pro kitchen for so many years I was trying to find the best mandoline. Everyone kept telling me how amazing the PL8 was. I looked at it in the store and was pretty impressed. Had more features than the surrounding mandolines and looked a lot easier to use, take apart and clean. So it finally arrived and I set it all up, the blade wasn't fitting right and I noticed that the plastic at the base was completely broken. I looked at the packaging and amazon did a great job at packing the product there's no way it got damaged during then commute. Long story short the plastic is super cheap and extremely fragile. My search for the best home mandoline continues. I got refunded and returned it. DONT BUY if you plan on using this mandoline all the time like I want to!!!!

CAN'T SLICE CARROTS - VERY POOR DESIGN
August 9, 2017
Was hoping to return this "adventure", but the return window expired. Guys, not worth the money. I got it to slice carrots and struggled for weeks, so please be aware, you will have about 1/2 inch of carrot left that will fill the gab between the pressing knob and the knifes on the cutter. You can't use this slicer with your bare hand, and if something is gamed in the knives - be very careful removing. So this devices is completely not fit to cut any vegetables as it's designed.
Worthless crap, Slicing tomatoes is a joke
May 18, 2016
Worthless crap, Slicing tomatoes is a joke. Mushes the tomatoes rather than slices.
Blade all chipped with in a week :(
January 21, 2016
It is ok, I've had it a week. Used to cut potatoes and onions. The blade is all chipped up already. Have only hand washer and dried right away. Sucks because I was excited for this a researched a lot of mandolines and reviews. Throught I picked a good one. Will probably try again since this is one of the few that the blade can be guarded. We will see how the return process goes. Will update.
Not worth the price.
January 21, 2016
It was nice while it worked. After one use, the plastic base cracked. It's now held together with rubber bands. Not worth the price.
