Better than more expensive ones
March 4, 2017
Have purchased more expensive ones, $80 to $120. This ones is my favorite
Gets the job done for the price
July 28, 2016
Purchasing this product varies a lot on how intense you are with your cooking. I am not that picky because I am not constantly hosting parties or dinners. If I was a host most of the time, I would probably choose a different product because the cuts haven't come out aesthetically pleasing for me , personally (I might still be getting the hang of it). I really wanted to try the waffle blade on potatoes, but I didn't have potatoes on me at the time so the pictures show the very first apple I cut, and I've gotten a lot better at it since then, so I would say it takes a little bit of time and practice, as well as speed and a bit of strength. I've used it for apples and carrots and it's been great, it didn't work very well for tomatoes I must say. It's suuper easy to clean, I use a small brush when little bits of fruit get stuck in the tiny dents. I read some reviewers say that carrots stained theirs, but the orange from my carrots came off quickly with just warm water.
Slices well

Very good slicer. Made lovely zucchini slices for my lasagna. There are additional Hidden blades that pop up with control dial. My only issue is that when you slide whatever veggie over the rimmed area, I think that juices must seep into where the hidden blades are and I'm not sure how to clean it without emersing the whole thing under water rather than just wiping off the surface.
How To Keep From Getting Your Girlfriend Pregnant
January 18, 2015
There are lots of mandolines out there, and this one happens to be my favorite.I had a nearly $100 mandoline from The Restaurant Store/Webstaurant, and it was certainly heavy-duty, but it was terribly difficult to adjust to the thickness I wanted (it would help if I had three hands, and eyes that could see both top and bottom at once), and if I were cooking for 300, it'd be my choice, but the veggies were supposed to be in a little box, and when I was cutting french fries from "biggun"-size Russets, I couldn't use the box but instead had to risk amputating my hand. It was also too big to clean in the sink, and wouldn't fit *anyplace-. And yet, mandolines are so useful, I was mad as bleep when my marries son stole it.This mandoline is easy to clean, and easy to store (although since I use it every meal, thyat doesn't happen often.) You turn a knob on the side to adjust thickness, so you can see what you're doing, and a knob on the other side twists to make french fries in either traditional (they taste better) and skinny McDonalds size (they fry faster and and *still* tasty). The knife is sharp enough to cut ripe homegrown tomatoes (a test most mandolines fail miserably at, althoough they do OK on the hard things grocery stores sell all winter.) Produce is safely held with a "top hat" that works well for most veggies. (I've never seen a mandoline that had a safe way to slice carrots, a head of celery, or bell peppers, which means you really need to buy a pair of those slice-resistant gloves. Please. I neglected to put them on recently because I only needed a few swipes, and hey, I've been using these for 22 years. The chunk I cut from my thumb was still sore two seeks later!)But that story also illustrates why quick setup is critical. With my stainless steel restaurant model, I'd not have bothered.to use it. I rinse with hot water after each cutting job, which is a breeze, but was a two-fisted job with that stainless steel monster. And because I don't have to hunt for a box containing julienne cutters, which are dangerous to handle, I find myself making french fries ten times a week. (Coat them in oil and microwave them for an interesting french fry, or microwave them to cook the innards and then brown them in a skillet of hot grease. I use a "bacon drippings" can and cook with lard to avoid trans fats, so it's not like I'm wasting oil.)Some mandolines have a vee cutter, but this one has a straight-across cutter, meaning that there's no problem with having to exactly center your produce. You can adjust it thinner than you'd want for potato chips, or thick enough for most anyone's preference for onion rings. (The Prudhomme's Lost Cajun Kitchen in Columbia makes wonderful onion rings about an inch thick, and it won't cut *that*, but I cut an onion in half, then slice it, breading with a spicy mix, and frying the C-shaped sections, serving with a sauce that compares favorably, so guests tell me, with a "blooming onion".The super-slicer is plastic, and unlike that stainless steel monster, it won't last forever. An earlier model of the Super Slicer lasted about 5 years in really *really* heavy use before I started wishing for a new oner. Mind you, it still worked fine, but I was afraid that it could give up the ghost at any minute. But take a look at the price of mandolines! On a cost-per-year basis, this is still cheaper than that stainless steel model, and the blade was still incredibly sharp when I gave the other one away. (Please note, that I am NOT criticizing the Webstaurant folks. For their intended market, that's a great mandoline, the people there are wonderful, and when I lived in Lancaster, PA, I used to visit The Restaurant Store monthly to buy equipment and supplies; I wish I still could, but it's a 10-hour drive each-way. And I give my Prime membership a real workout, shopping naked in the middle of the night. I love Amazon, too.)So to sum things up, everyone needs a mandoline to eliminate drudgery, to produce uniform cuts of ingredients that cook evenly, and to produce attractive foods like salads, pizza, and apple pie. If you are cooking for more that 50 people, you probably want the stainless steel monster, and possibly more than one. If you are cooking for a family (mine is currently a family of one), you need the Super Slicer. And having tried a lot of the other mandolines out there, I can't think of a reason for them to exist (and that includes the one that America's Test Kitchen recommends.) But almost any mandoline is better than no mandoline, and DON'T FORGET THE GLOVES.Oh, and how to keep from getting your girlfriend pregnant? Don't screw, silly!
Watch your fingers!

What an incredible deal this little slicer is. It comes with 2 blades, straight and wavy. I use this everyday and sometimes twice a day or more and it saves me a ton of time each day in the kitchen. I use it mostly for slicing potatoes to make fat free chips in the microwave on my pampered chef chip trays for snacks for my husbands lunch. It rinses clean quickly and easily. It includes the hand guard which floats over the raised edges to prevent damaging the blades or the guard, and which holds the food EXTREMELY securely, on metal prongs inside the hood, which has a button of the top for pressing the food down when you get to the end of the piece you are slicing. Also, it has a wheel in the middle that when turned presents blades for julienne cuts at wide and narrow widths. We don't use that much as it still seems a bit intimidating, but we may do more with that as time progresses. What drew me to this particular slicer were the price, and that there weren't a 'set' number of widths to choose. I was looking at models four to five times the price, but only had three settings. This one slices thin enough to make crunchy delicious chips, and thick enough for fried potatoes. Also, some of the others did not include hand guards or julienne blades. Overall, this little slicer has FAR exceeded expectations. I would buy this again and I would buy it for a gift to give a friend. While I thought that the instructions could have been more thorough, with careful examination it really is self explanatory. The buttons pull out from the sides for ease of turning them to make adjustments for example. If you take your time getting to know your new slicer I'm sure you'll figure everything out.**12-4-12. We use this everyday to slice potatoes. PLEASE use the guard! I don't know what hubby was thinking, I'm so very grateful we use this for VERY THIN slicing for potato chips daily, because it only took a thin slice of fingernail and fingertip off. But the fingernail will have a matching wavy pattern to the blade while it grows OUT from the quick for a few weeks.
LOVE IT!!!!!

I had seen infomercials for different slicers since the 80's, and finally decided to try one. After a little bit of research I settled on this model, and I couldn't be happier. It does everything in the infomercial, and saves you a ton of time in the kitchen. I've recently started making my own fruit & veggie chips, and this machine cuts through everything perfectly and evenly like butter EVERYTIME! 2 important things to remember whenever using this great product:1. Always and I mean ALWAYS use the safety holder. I decided to be hard headed by not using it the 1st time and almost chopped my finger off.2. Make sure to slice with an adequate amount of pressure and speed based on the food (Obviously there's a difference between cutting a banana vs. a potato). If you don't, the food can get stuck between the blade and the board.

THIS IS THE ONE!!!

I've been searching for the perfect mandolin for years, but each one I purchased was lacking in design and/or quality. This adjustable mandolin slicer is absolutely perfect! It's so easy to use and clean plus is does everything you could ever want. The container into which the vegetables, fruits, and cheese fall comes with a lid for storage. The blades are easy to insert and remove. I'm so thrilled with this device that I'm finding all sorts of things that I can slice and grate. Price is reasonable and fair, and delivery was fast. I recommend this device highly. I promise you won't be sorry that you purchased it!
Great product and worth every cent.

Finally a slicer that works as described. The BEST slicer I ever have used is one my Grandfather made for my Mom. She still has it. It is made of wood and uses an old file blade made into a knife edge for use in the slicer.

This mandolin slicer is second only to Grandfathers homemade device. We are trying to eat more healthy meals and this slicer will make that a lot easier. Being able to slice various veggies and fruits for roasting with herbs and spices instead of frying, steaming, or boiling everything will go a long way to a big increase in easy to prepare veggie side dishes for us. This slicer was a huge help this past Christmas whilst preparing Scalloped Potatoes. Cut my prep time by half. I really like the slice thickness adjustment feature as well. It adds a little cool factor when your dishes have that professional look to them. I would buy this product again, and will if I ever break this one. (Not likely).

September 5, 2016
Just bought this for my son when I visited and noticed he had no slicer. Ohmuhgosh, I am so jealous! My old mandolin has only one slicing blade and no container, unlike this beauty! So far, we have sliced, diced (the julienne blade dices an onion) and grated. (Pro-tip: if you have a granddaughter who swears she hates all veggies, just finely grate them and throw them into whatever! Zucchini and yellow squash and carrots are practically invisible in meatballs, soups, etc. when finely grated and this mandolin makes it super easy!)

Children will be able to safely help in the kitchen with this mandolin, as their fingers will not come near the blade, thanks to the . . . holder? The prongs hold the veggie and one simply slides the holder back and forth along the tracks and the veggie slices (or grated cheese; whatever) fall into the bin. No mess on the countertop.

The bin has a rubber edging along the bottom so it doesn't slide around while slicing, and the mandolin fits snugly on top of the bin. The extra handle eliminates the wrist fatigue one usually feels when using an old school grater.

I love this mandolin slicer so much I plan to buy one for my daughter and son-in-law when I return home . . . and if my inferior old mandolin happens to meet an untimely death, well, I'll buy one for myself, as well!
How did I live without this?
August 19, 2016
Of course, I didn't start really getting in to cooking until 4 years ago, and dehydrating just yesterday, but I seriously with I had had this when I first got into cooking! It slices perfectly, such a simple tool but it makes prepping for meals so much easier, and kind of fun! I like to slice to the beat of songs on my Playlist and such.

Sliced a few veggies and fruits yesterday when my dehydrator arrived. Just, beautiful!

A couple piece were uneven at first, but that's because I didn't have the technique down.

Once you get a flow there's no stopping you!
Highly recommend this because of its simplicity and ease of use as well as being useful for multiple types if recipes. Get it!
Nicely-made mandoline with excellent customer service.
January 21, 2016
This mandoline slicer is a very nice unit. It comes nicely packaged with all pieces and blades protected from damage during shipping. The entire unit is top-rack dishwasher safe which definitely makes for a safer and quicker cleaning experience. There are non-stick pads on the bottom of the slicer container which feel very secure, and they keep it from shifting around during slicing, adding to the safety.

Using the slicer: everything feels very secure when assembled. There are three options for the sizes of cut items: 1mm thick, 3mm thick, and 5mm thick. The adjustment knobs is easy to use and it feels secure when turning it to adjust the cut depth. The slicer itself produces even, consistent cuts.

A word about the excellent HomeNative customer service: when my gf accidentally broke off two of the retaining clips that keep the adjustable cut depth portion in place (this part is not intended to be removed anyways), I emailed HomeNative to ask about a replacement. Rather than have me send back my current unit for repair, the representative said that since they do not generally carry replacement parts, she would be happy to send me an entirely new replacement unit at no cost. This was a great, welcome surprise, and I can not say enough good things about HomeNative customer service for their commitment to customer satisfaction.

By the way, I was NOT provided any free or reduced-cost products in "exchange" for an honest, unbiased review (unlike many Amazon products these days, it seems). I simply felt that the excellent service and great product that I received from HomeNative warranted a truly honest, meaningful review.

July 7, 2016
You get what you pay for. I bought this mainly to use with my dehydrator so my produce would be sliced evenly and dehydrate well to have everything done around the same time. I have been using it for over a year and the blade is starting to wear I know to push my things to the side and it seems to be a bit sharper there. Or as you are pushing it through the blade wiggle the food item a bit. I haven't used any of the other settings or blades just the main one as I don't see any easy way to change it and haven't really tried as it hasn't been necessary for me. It is nice that it adjusts to cut things. I have probably used it about 50 times in the past year. Probably wont buy one of these again, next I will find a better quality but for a first time just trying things out this is ok. For the $15 I did get good use out of it the last year.
Worth it
May 25, 2016
This this is awesome, but only gave it 4 stars because it said it came eith an attachment to make waffle fries but all it really does is add ridges in the cuts & not the actual spaces that make a waffle fry. Other than that, it works like a charm, saves sooo much time, & cuts the absolute perfect potato chips!
Nice Quality
June 29, 2015
The quality of the build is nice, the plastic is sturdy. I use this to cut up apples for my kids to make it more fun. I'll make apple slices or apple fries. With the apple fries you twist the vertical cutter up to the desired width, there are two widths to choose from. The height on the vertical cutters are not adjustable, so when you make a pass I pick up the apple and start again from the top, If you slide back and forth it will cut in both motions and leave a very sloppy uneven cut. If what you are cutting piles up underneath the mandolin it will start cutting uneven, you just move the pile or shift it around the bowl. The grooves on the face as well as the slits for the vertical cutter get dirty and makes it a bit hard to clean, this is why I knocked off a star. The thought of cleaning this will often deter me from using. If we are eating zucchini I will just use a knife rather than pull this out.
Will it become a favorite kitchen tool - probably not
January 2, 2015
I used the Mandoline the first time this week slicing onion for an Onion Tart I made for New Years Eve. Getting the correct thickness for the onions was a bit difficult, and as others have complained about - There are no Directions (other then basic assembly), so it was trial and error (a LOT of ERROR - resulting in STRINGY caramelized onions in the tart). Will I use it again ... yeah. Will it become a favorite kitchen tool - probably not.
a bit unstable, but works great

Prepping by dehydrating and vacuum sealing into Mason/Ball jars. My only worry is the SUPER SHARP blade could cut you if you get too close with a stray finger… .it wobbles a bit, so be careful. It does a great job cutting in different designs and the 20+ lbs. of veggies I have dried and stored has been greatly accelorated…… .good stuff…

I had no idea I would use it so much, but it DOES NOT come with the glove.

March 22, 2017
Finally used my mandolin this past weekend. It performed well and sliced my zucchini beautifully. The only problem or complaint I have is that there is enough of a space where the blade meets the plastic. There were slivers of zucchini stuck in that area. Being near the blade, it made removing the slivers challenging. Performance wise, this worked well. Clean up and getting the slivers out was the challenge.
Quality for the Price
October 30, 2016
This is great for making potato chips, which is what I bought it for. I don't really use it apart from that unless I'm making something in bulk since it's more cleanup than a handheld.

I did try to make French fries with the julienne slicer, does not work. The lid also doesn't stay secure on the base, so storing the product upright is not an option. Finding a place to store it at all was a bit of pain, but fortunately I have a big kitchen.

Overall the quality is what you pay for and this tool is great for what I needed to use it for.

Also, baked versus fried potato chips: definitely go with fried!
pretty deep cut
August 12, 2016
Make sure you use the safety hat ALL THE TIME!!!! I cut my thumb at the 1st time use bcuz I thought cumbers are too long to be held by the safety hat. The result is you dont know how fast it goes when slicing. So I hurt my finger, pretty deep cut...I guess long stuffs like carrot and cucumber should be cut into certain length to fit the safety hat.
Decent but difficult safety guard.
June 14, 2016
Blade is sharp and the product performs well. However take care with the way you use the safety guard when it comes to harder fruits or vegis. While slicing potatoes the guard got stuck on the side of the slicer, causing me to cut my thumb rather badly. Anyone who has ever used a mandolin knows that is an inherent risk to using the tool, so I do not mark the product down for it. However, I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the design the top guard uses. It has 3 prongs that press down into the item you are cutting, they are fairly spread out and they do little to secure anything that is long or fat.

it's pretty easy to use
August 5, 2017
Has lots of settings, it's pretty easy to use. My main problem is the blades and fall off and the waffle cutting blade, the reason I bought it the thing, is too shallow to make waffle fries with. Maybe waffle chips, but definitely not fries.

June 10, 2017
I ordered this thing ONLY for making waffle fries as it stated in it's description !...Well, although this product is pretty good at cutting other forms of styles of cuts it does not waffle cut, period!!! Just wave cut...So make sure you don't want to cut waffle fries and you won't be disappointed...
Buy a good knife
November 18, 2016
To be honest it takes up room and does little. This one of ours is up for grabs almost new. A good knife takes moments to find, use and clean. this thing not so much. Now if you were say a prep cook processing a bulk amount of veggies I could see the attraction.
Work the first time, not the second
September 20, 2015
I loved this when I first bought it and read through several of the reviews and thought I had found the good one. After the first use, the blades weren't strong enough to cut through sweet potato. I put it in the dishwasher and it didn't come clean. After about the fourth use, the safety slide broke apart and now I just have to be careful not to take off my fingers. When I buy a new one, it will not be this!
OK Slicer
February 6, 2015
I like the adjustable blades and it is very easy to change them. Slicer is a little hard to control when using and the food holder simply does not hold very well. This slicer works really well with softer foods but takes some effort to slice foods like hard cheeses -- even for my husband. We have used it several times with foods like peppers and tomatoes and it works really well with those. Overall, it's a pretty good slicer for the price.
Good mandoline with flawed guard shield.
December 22, 2014
Nicely made mandoline. Guard shield has a deep well underhandle area. It has prongs to hold onto the veggie. It can swallow up 1/2 of your zucchini(for example) that your trying to slice. I am very pleased otherwise. This is a pretty serious flaw however. Try to avoid pushing to far. It can be pushed in fur t her if you need to apply a firmer push in order to slice. Maybe someone else has better luck using the guard shield.

Not the best for grating portatoes
July 9, 2017
I got this to grate potatoes for hash browns. I like the size pieces it produces but it's a LOT of work. The grater is really short so one stroke makes really nice pieces, just too few of them If the grater blade were the full length of the unit, I'd give it 5 stars.

I do like the holder for protecting my hand. And the glove is a nive touch as well.

December 26, 2016
The slicer itself is great but there are a couple things that I absolutely do not like, which is why I rated it 3 stars. The container that holds the vegetables warped after putting in top rack of dishwasher the first time, so each time I use it I have to insert my fingernail in between the lid/slicer and the container to get it to fit right (and this isn't the easiest thing to do). The other thing I really do not like is the safe holder (not sure what it is called) does not have pointy spikes, it has blunt-ended spikes so they do not hold in the potatoes and keep slipping out. Very poor design.

However the blade is nice and sharp and easy to adjust the thickness of the slicer.
Materials did not last (pitted food container, dull blade), but HomeNative provided replacement
September 5, 2016
I purchased this item in September 2015 and paid full price, which was then $39.99. I liked it very much at first and used it for a variety of cooking tasks.

Within a few months, I discovered that the materials are not made to last, and I am very disappointed with my purchase.

After using the mandoline to grate lemon peel, the plastic food container base became badly pitted and pockmarked from the citrus in an ordinary lemon! (See photo.) Then, after using the vegetable slicing blade to make a few batches of sweet potato chips, the blade became so dull that it is no longer able to cleanly slice softer fruits and vegetables like fresh tomatoes.

As HomeNative claims to offer a "a FULL Refund or Replacement", I will contact them and update this post regarding their response.

UPDATE:
After I wrote to HomeNative, they quickly sent me a complete replacement, free of charge. Based upon the Customer Service and the way in which they honored the warranty, I am upgrading my review from 2 stars to 3 stars. I hope that the replacement mandoline will not suffer the same shortcomings as the first.
It slices, but ...
June 4, 2016
Overall, the mandoline slicer does generally slice most of what you give it. The slicer's food container / storage base worked OK. The entire unit is approx 14 1/2" long when the handle/cutting deck is assembled on top. The actual handle portion of the deck top sticks out w/ no way to remove. This makes it difficult to store the item in a typical overhead kitchen cabinet unless turned sideways on the shelf. You definitely NEED the handle when trying to use the slicer, so it's a necessary trade off, I guess. Of course the blades were sharp (being brand new), but they were somewhat small. The smaller grater was almost too small / too fine (used for Parmesan?) The julienne blade allowed for slightly thicker or thinner cuts, but the again the general size was a bit smallish.

I had problems using the safety hat when trying to get it to grip onto any other than a relatively flat or softer piece of food. If you required any amount of shuffling force to make your cuts on a crisp item (such as carrots or apples), it was far better to just use your hand. I used a cutting glove for this and found my fingers were easily bumping into the blade edge (kudos for said glove!). I found my food was sliding off the side or end w/o being cut so I really had to limit myself on the size of the item attempting to be sliced. Tomatoes were an absolute failure for me, even with a zigzag motion when approaching the blade. I'll have to stick to a sharp kitchen knife for those, I guess.

The flat, general slicing blade worked fine for just about everything else I pushed its way. I went thru a head each of cabbage and lettuce by slicing the heads into smaller chunks first. The blade's thickness adjustment knob was easy enough to use, but not really easy to tell how much of a turn you needed. You will need to experiment a lot by running food thru and checking the bin.

It was a toss up for me if I would be better off with something different and keeping this for the relatively smaller slicing requirements. Then again, all of my slicing requirements are relatively smaller. ;-) I think with my limited dexterity and grip (onset of arthritis) it became more of a chore than I anticipated to hold the device still while zinging the food back and forth in front of the blade. The gripper areas on the outer edges on the bottom of the bin did help but you still needed to hold everything firmly. I'm still not certain if the smaller size is a help or a hindrance. If you spend some time with it and keep experimenting, eventually you may get the results you are seeking. Maybe. BTW, the Customer Support of HomeNative was awesome.
Slicer for the over-sized vegetable ONLY
September 15, 2015
I bought this to replace an old mandoline slicer of a different brand that had all the same features. It works just like you'd expect it to, but i do have 2 complaints.

* It can't go deep enough to make homestyle fries
* The handle you place on the vegetable is horrible at holding onto standard sized vegetables. It worked great for my big fat vegetables but if they were skinny or small at all...there was just no way to use the handguard/handle for slicing that vegetable making it so you have to use your hand, unprotected.

I was excited to receive this, but now i'm just disappointed.

If you are looking for a waffle fry slicer, this isn't the one you want. Grooves are too small to give a waffle effect. We didn't try the other functions as we were mainly looking for a waffle slicer. Return was very easy on Amazon. This is the first thing we have ever had to return, and we were very pleased with the return service. We ended up purchasing the Swissmar Borner PowerLine Wave Waffle Cutter which was perfect for making waffle fries. Be sure and order the food safety holder so that you don't cut yourself because the waffle cutter is very sharp
Dull and slightly false advertisement...
October 20, 2016
I was excited for this to come since I had no dedicated slicer since I moved several months ago. I wasn't wowed by the first several cuts of my potato, but I wasn't unimpressed either. It's just a slicer. However, I went ahead and tried to slice a tomato, as it has in one of the pictures. I then became very disappointed at the results of the unclean slicing, and these were not thin slices. I had a fair amount of tomato in my hand I still wanted to slice!Although the julienne portion seemed decent, the straight slicer is what seemed to be dull. Then the waffle cutter... That's not a waffle cutter. Chips? Sure, but those fries would have to be very thin to even come out in a waffle effect. That's the part that sold this to me but only ended up making this product even more underwhelming.
Pretty cheap$$ and pretty cheap quality!
February 3, 2016
The product is okay for slicing only. Don't like that when your raise the "dicing blade" that it doesn't stay up. I can make about 3 passes and then it falls down. The "bonus" waffle blade is pretty much worthless unless you want translucent fries. The corrugations are about an 1/8 of an inch or less. Will be buying something else to do waffle cuts with.
Loved it..... at first....
July 12, 2015
We initially really liked it. It is easy to use and slices great. However, we have only had it for about 4 months and the roller that holds the julienne blades will not longer lock in place. Very disappointing !!!
Limited Use, Great for Zucchini but not Much Else
October 28, 2014
Very limited uses. I bought it for processing some zucchini squashes I had growing in my garden. Used it to chop it up fast, but not all that much faster than using the knife which I factored in the cleaning time.I tired it for cheese as a replacement for a grader and it didnt work, just gunked up after the first shave. Good slicer, but not my tool of preference
March 11, 2017
I am a paraplegic with balance issues so food preparation is sometimes difficult for me. I can cut vegetables with knife and cutting board, it just takes a lot longer. I was hoping this device was something I could keep on the kitchen counter, chop vegetables as I go while cooking. Alas it was not. I have to switch blades for what I'm cutting and still use a knife and cutting board on large vegetables so they fit. Then I just have more dishes to clean.
I gave it two stars however, because the product itself does work as described, it's just not the tool for me. I would have returned it, but since it is a quality slicer, I kept trying to work with it past the 30-day return window.
Blade Flew Off
February 6, 2017
I originally ordered this slicer in July 2015. It lasted less than 2 months before the blade on the vegetable slicing attachment came loose while I was slicing a potato. It didn't come completely off, just came loose on one side causing the blade to curve up to a vertical slant while I was slicing. Thankfully I was paying attention and didn't slice into my hand. I contacted the company and they sent a replacement quickly. The second one lasted almost a year before the slicing blade flew off of it too, this time while slicing sweet potatoes. It never sliced any potato easily and eventually the blade came loose from the plastic plate it was attached to. It was hit or miss with other veggies. Sometimes it sliced them easily and other times it was a bit of a chore. Also there never was any consistency in the thickness of slices and the holder would not securely hold whatever I tried to slice. I really want to like it but with the risk of a blade flying off every time I use it I just can't.

I do have to give the company props for customer service though. Melissa responded quickly after the first one broke and sent me this replacement. I did not contact them after the second one broke since this seems to be a design flaw that no replacement is going to fix.

Very efficient and effective in slicing. The guard, however, does not hold the food tight and have to keep adjusting. Due to this flaw, it is dangerous. First use, with slipped guard cost me a chunk of my thumb. Could not be stitched, wound too wide and deep. Three weeks later, still having thumb treated. Sturdier guard to hold food would increase safety. Be cautious when using. Price paid, 19.99 which is about right for quality. The original price of 79.99 is laughable.
Overall, it sucks.
April 19, 2016
Somehow I thought there was a lid so this doubled as a container in the fridge, but it does not. The grip thing sucks, so buy some gloves if you like it enough. I bought it primarily because I thought I could make fries and the wife could do her grating, but it makes fries about as wide as a shoelace at the widest setting, and the grip thing tears through the food and slips out. Overall, it sucks.
save yourself the trouble

I used the shredding attatchment and it worked ok. but the julien attachment did not work well. I kept having to push down on the top half of the device to get the blades to work on the attachment. not fun. So I ended up returning. I just got BLACK+DECKER FP1600B 8-Cup Food Processor, Black. it was 2 dollars more and less aggravation. I also got [[ASIN:B013RXBDGG Sagler Stainless steel Mixing Bowls Set of 5 with 3 kind of graters High quality mixing bowls with lids] I used the grater attatchment to shred some cheese into a bowl. but dont waste your time with this thing

Not what i expected.
June 25, 2017
Very disappointed in the waffle blade attachment. That was my main purpose for choosing this item. It did nothing more than leave ridges on the potato unless you made it paper thin, at which point you have a chip and not a potato. I suppose that is why there was no product photo of the waffle blade in use.

I bought this for the waffle cut blade. In order to accomplish the waffle cut you have to cut the the item so thick its basically a sliver.
Buy a different one. This one broke 1st time using it.

Junk. It broke the first time I used it The julienne feature for fries etc. will not stay in the "up" position. Now I can only slice.
A waste of money

False Advertising and Failed "Waffle" Fries
February 25, 2015
This slicer failed me in two different areas. One, the description said that it came with the "5 piece accessory kit" that lets it juice, grate, etc. This is not true at all; all it comes with is what you can see on the box (in the picture). Basically it has a straight blade and a "waffle" blade, then it has the pop up blades for julienne/french fries and has a thickness adjuster. It does not have a juicer, or anything to grate cheese, or anything else the description claims it to have. Two, I put the "waffle" blade in quotes because although it comes with a blade that will cut using wavy lines, I would not even remotely consider it a waffle blade. The grooves it cuts are so shallow that you would have to cut the fries so thin to even get the waffle effect that you'd probably end up with potato chips if you could even get the slices to stay in one piece. I will be returning my product ASAP and buying something new since this product lied in it's description and doesn't even have good enough waffle cutting (what I mainly wanted it for) to make up for it. This is truly a "get what you pay for" item.

Just used it today

Just used it today for the first time it can't cut peperoni main reason I bought this because I like fresh toppings on my pizza I'm very disappointed
Useless
January 19, 2017
1. The grater is so small as to be useless.
2. The finger protector won't sit securely on food, like potatoes and tomatoes.
3. The slicer isn't sharp enough to slice a tomato cleanly all the way across. That last bit is a bear. It slices human skin quite nicely, however.
Live is short

I had to come back and rewrite my review. This product did start out working well then it fell apart within a few months. The seller did replace it. The replacement never did perform well. I have thrown both units out. Not a happy customer.
Not for coleslaw.

This item is terrible for making thin sliced coleslaw.
This worked pretty well for one month although
August 2, 2015
This worked pretty well for one month although, as another reviewer noted, the width of slices increased with use. The reason I give this product a one star rating is because the plastic prongs holding the non-interchangeable portion of the deck snapped after one month; I now have to hold it down as I slice produce, which is unwieldy. I am disappointed with the low quality and will be contacting the company for a refund.
