I love this thing so far
August 16, 2017
I love this thing so far! Really solid construction, looks like a legitimate piece from a gym. It was pretty easy to put together, it took about 45 minutes for me to do by myself, but it's very easy to figure out what to do, just odd angles for certain things, so don't let that be a factor in deciding.I'd definitely buy another one should I need it.
Great cage for the price.
October 12, 2016
My cage came on time, and the box came in better shape than some of the photos that are posted. It took a friend a I 30 minutes to put together, I recommend a socket wrench or a crescent wrench, because the tool they give you sucks. If you use those tools and tighten it up real good, this should stay tighten longer than if you use the tool given. I also bolted mine to the ground, I'll post some photo's later on.
Quality Rack/Pull-up bar!
June 12, 2016
I have a membership at a gym but sometimes I'm not able to get over there when they're open. So I wanted to work out at home during those times. I was looking for a good squat rack that also had a pull-up bar -- and not a pull-up bar that was narrow (meaning, I couldn't spread my arms out). When I saw the CAP Barbell Deluxe Power Cage, it quickly went to the top of my list, especially at the price point that it was listed. And since putting it together, it seems to be all that I need.It was easy to put together and didn't take but an hour at the most (with 2 people it'll take even less time). The materials are solid/quality. You can adjust the height of the bar holder and squat safety poles. The pull-up bar is wide. With the weights added on the bar sides, the rack becomes even more stable if you decide you want to do some "kipping".The only downside is I had to buy the Olympic bar and weights separately. But I found a great deal at a local store. I highly recommend this if you're a guy or gal who likes to workout regularly. If you're a cross-fitter or want to go to the next level as far as weights, you might do well to splurge on the more expensive and "thicker" racks. I'm 6', 184 lbs and this works well for me, whether squatting or doing pull-ups with my 20# vest.

November 9, 2015
I was hesitant to purchase this product based on previous reviews concerning the packaging and items being left out. I'm happy to say that the cage was delivered ahead of schedule and the packaging was intact! The smaller package containing the nuts, bolts, and screws was slightly torn, but all of the parts were there. I was able to put the cage together in a little over an hour. I immediately did 10 pull-ups and it was very sturdy and stood up to my 215lb. frame.I am very pleased with this product!
Packaging SUCKS. Product is great.
May 16, 2015
So, the other reviewers were right --- this box will arrive completely trashed!! My review of CAP's packaging is 1 star, and UPS gets -100 stars for dragging it behind their truck for 3 days as per usual. Only by sheer blind luck did I manage to have all the hardware. The hardware is in a separate shrink-wrapped container inside the box, but due to the really crappy packaging it was beat to bloody hell and washers/nuts were loose inside the box and the box itself had holes on the corners. So - I got lucky that no washers or nuts were missing. I did have to have a guy friend bend one of the small bar support pieces though - it got damaged and bent in the box and wouldn't fit over the vertical leg. That being said, it went together super easy and the product itself is awesome. I'm a 130# female and assembled it myself in under an hour. Not sure why some people were saying some of the bolts weren't long enough - they all fit. A word of advice on the upper half of the vertical legs - those two legs have 6 bolts each and if you tighten down the first bolt all the way then the other 5 holes might not line up right, so leave them all sort of loose until all 6 bolts are in, then tighten them all down. Seems common sense to me - everything will go together as it should. I'm really excited to have gym-quality equipment at home now - this product is very versatile and well worth the cost.

Nice and sturdy bench
June 26, 2017
This bench is awesome. I think its very sturdy enough to support me and the 300lbs of weight. I hope they included a resistance cord or something..
If you're looking for a sturdy solid bench on a budget
June 23, 2017
If you're looking for a sturdy solid bench on a budget, this is the one for you. It doesn't rock while in use, rolls around easy, all positions are locked in tight, quick assembly, resistance band ready, and hold up under heavy weight. I'm 6'3" 195lb and works fine for me. If decline is a must for you then you'll need to look elsewhere. Some pictures I've seen have an offset looking seat, but mine came in perfectly straight. For $100.. you just can't beat it!
Easy to assemble and great bench.
June 13, 2017
Easy to assemble. I taught my 11 year old son and 9 year old nephew to assemble things. We had a great time. Was easy enough for them with my help. The bench is a great bench and is very useful for the different angles to adjust it too.
Nice bench for the money
May 11, 2017
Nice bench for the money. Pretty easy to assemble even for me as I am all thumbs when it comes to putting stuff together. Glad I bought this.
I like the mobility
September 2, 2016
I like the mobility. I am able to move it with ease as it has a handle and wheels. I read some reviews about assembly problems, so I purchased the Amazon assembly team option. It you get this bench, I would recommend this option. I really liked having someone come to my house to assemble it. I normally put together my own stuff, but there are a lot of pieces and parts on this bench. The only concern that I have with bench is in the construction at the adjustment knobs. I would have liked to see hole with a grommet at the site where the adjustment know winds through the elevation bar and makes contact with the bench. This would alleviate the metal to metal contact and divot that is being created in the bench. Not a huge issue.
Better than that crossfit brand for sure!
June 18, 2015
Amazing bench for the price. We just spent a small fortune on a home gym from that famous crossfit brand, but I didn't see the sense in spending a lot on the bench. Not only was the a third the price, it is MUCH nicer and has additional features! Great purchase! Also packaged well and quick assembly.

Fine Home Cage for the Price
June 26, 2016
This is what you'd expect for the price - it's solid and relatively easy to assemble and seems like it should last. I bought it to make a small home gym in my basement, and it fills that need nicely. It's usable for squats and pretty much any bench/shoulder press exercise. The bar rests are easy to adjust, and appear to be solid enough to hold plenty of weight. Like many other reviewers, the box came heavily damaged, but fortunately all my parts were included. I deducted a star because one of the smaller bar rest pieces was badly bent, but I was able to bend it back by hand to the point where it's usable. I am a little worried that this could cause it to fail under repeated stress. For the price this is a good home gym cage.
OK build quality, great for the money
May 24, 2016
This a very good little rack for the money. It assembled in about 20 minutes (having a cordless drill and a socket set makes it *much* faster than the silly Allen wrench that comes with it, obviously) and doesn't exhibit too much wobble if I hang from it and shake it around. I'm about 195 pounds and I can do a pull up on it with out any weights on the base and it remains stable. Catches move pretty easily from one setting to the next and the holes are numbered. The downside: The packaging is atrocious. Mine came with bent flanges and loose nuts/bolts/washers floating around in it. In fact, I'm still finding extra washers from the kit on my porch from when it was delivered (thankfully they give you a few more than you need). I had to use a hammer to bend some of the metal flanges back straight so the pieces would interlock together. They could add $5-10 to improve the packaging and it would be well worth it. However, none of the metal damage was structurally critical, so I just banged them back into shape and assembled the kit. Everything straightens out pretty well once you cinch the bolts down.
Great cage, but bad shipping
May 19, 2015
I think this is the best fit cage for me right now, I'm satisfied. I was looking for a half cage that wouldn't take too much space, would clear the ceiling of my apartment, would have a pull-up bar, integrated weight racks, the safety bar, and enough room for adjustment so I don't have to cheat my reps by having not enough adjustment room to make sure I can get a full range of motion. To that end, this rack is the perfect fit among all those I researched. The small issues I have are with irregularities in the way the safety bar/holders are tooled, the way it was shipped, and the stability afforded by the design. The tooling is the most minor - the bars kind of lean out. They are safe, but I would like to see flush edges. The shipping, as many others have no doubt mentioned, is warranting the term "Egregious". The box should be in a box. It is tied together with plastic strips and was falling apart by the time I got it. When I got ready to take it up to my apartment, I noticed rattling in the box and carried it up piece by piece as I feared parts were loose. When I got everything ready for assembly, my fears were concerned. All the bolts/washers/tools are supposed to be molded onto a cardboard panel, but had opened up and as a result I had to buy 8 washers, 2 screws, and 2 nylon lock nuts to replace what had been lost. Fortunately these are a cheap buy, but very inconvenient. For those interested, they are 8M size which is kind of odd I've found. Once I put all that together, I tightened everything by hand and realized perhaps it would be best if I had doubled up on washers and things were designed tighter. There's more play laterally to the cage than I like. My concern is if I'm trying to do pull ups with weights on the side and this thing sways too far and I drop weights on the floor of a 3rd story apartment.
Good, not Great but gets the job done
January 26, 2015
The power cage is pretty good. I won't say its great but it does the job. It made of light-weight metal so it moves a little bit easier than I would like but still is decent. This is probably not for your serious weight-lifter but good for beginners to intermediates. When it came in the mail, it was all banged up so you have to hammer some of the parts back into place. It does work pretty decent for me and I use it for squats, bench press and pull-ups and everything inbetween and I am a 6'1" 240lb male. Overall good although if you are a more serious weight lifter, i would buy something a little nicer.
Awesome Squat Rack Set up
January 13, 2015
I love this product but the there were some minor flaws. First the two spotting bar attachments are not faceing the same direction, one of them locks on the inside of the rack and the other locks on the outside and that one always gets in the way of the weights that are stored on the side. Also there were some manufacturing errors where the bolts didn't fit all the way so we had to make the screw socket bigger. Besides those two things this Squat Rack is awesome. Lastly I live in Hawaii and was worried about how the packaging but there were no complaints about that.
It's robust enough to sit outside in my carport and it can handle any weight I would like to squat
January 13, 2015
A squat rack sent to Hawaii with free shipping. It's robust enough to sit outside in my carport and it can handle any weight I would like to squat, at least so far. The pull-up bar is also robust enough for strict pull-ups and to hang rings from for dips and push-ups. If you're doing squats over 315 you might consider a squat cage or power cage, or if you're doing kipping pull-ups the rack will rock back and forth a little which seems a bit unsteady. Lastly, and least important, it will sway a little side-to-side when re-racking the bar into the j-cups which is totally expected with a smaller gauge steel. I will replace with a Rogue kit when I move back to the lower 48, but for now it's great to have the flexibility at my own home and you can't beat the price.

Overall, very nice bench.
March 12, 2017
This is a very nice heavy duty bench. I knocked it off 1 star because the two seats don't align properly and are a little crooked. It doesn't affect it's usage, but it doesn't look as nice as it should and this is a manufacturing quality issue. I haven't tested the max weights yet, but it is a great bench with a quality issue flaw which you may or may not also get.
The slightly shorter knob is perfectly fine for the back pad
November 30, 2016
A high-value, fairly solid weight bench to start most home gyms. However, one big gripe I have with it is that the seat is slightly crooked when assembled and doesn't lay flat and flush with the back pad. To help alleviate this issue, don't tighten its knob too much when using it. I also gave it a little wiggle-room when assembling it, since if you tighten things a fair amount (like you should) the seat will be more crooked and rigid. Also, check both knobs, one of them will be very slightly longer past the threaded top portion; use that one for the seat so, again, you don't have to tighten the knob much at all to keep it in place, which would push against it and make it crooked. The slightly shorter knob is perfectly fine for the back pad, which you want to tighten up and lock in place once you make any adjustments. Also, another minor annoyance is that the front and rear "feet" wiggle around and will rotate, even when tightened. You'll be kicking them to tap them back into place a lot, especially if you're using them as a guide to line up the bench perpendicularly within a power rack.
Step Missing In The Directions!
May 19, 2016
Sturdy enough, has the options I wanted as far as adjustable seat and back rest. Was also please to see it had wheels on the back that make for easy rolling when it comes to storage. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the first step in the instructions leave out the washers labled as part #15 in the bolt kit. So having completed the whole job I was left with 4 of the #15 washers and nowhere in the instructions does it have anywhere to place them. (I had two people look over the instructions to make sure I wasn't crazy) The only place it made sense to put them was on the 4 bolts that mount the center to the two beams that make up the base, which was the exact part I was wondering why in the heck these bolts didn't have washers in the first place as they were bending the metal and cracking the paint as I tightend them to the base, had I tightend much more they may have pulled themselves through the bolt hole and ruined the whole bench. So long story short, just know in the first step when mounting the base, the bolts need the washers labled #15 in the hardware kit. Was an easy fix but kind of annoying to get to the whole thing together, wonder why you're sitting there with 4 washers, and have to start back at step 1 by flipping the whole thing over, unbolting the base at both ends, and reattach it all over. 1st World Problems ;)
Good for price
March 1, 2016
This is good as one can expect for the price. Comes in several pieces so make sure you read directions closely - its easy to put it together wrong as I did and had to start over. One thing worth mentioning is the adjustment knobs don't only have to be pulled and moved to slot of next setting but also must be tightened and loosened every time you adjust. This is not an issue with me at all but worth mentioning. Overall very happy with the product for the price point.
Excellent Bench at a Good Price
October 14, 2015
Great bench with the full range of incline settings. Easy assembly, solid build and comfortable padding. Very pleased.Only small issue I noticed was some of the parts did not marry up perfectly, causing conflicts between the curved bars which controls the incline angles and the slot where the bars insert and are held by the pull pin. I was easily able to correct this with a small short handle sledge hammer to correct the angles of the curved bars. Not a major issue, but definitely something to keep an eye out for while assembling.
For the price, this is a winner, as long as it doesn't get destroyed during shipping
August 22, 2015
I bought this bench so I could start doing workouts at home in a room about 11'x12'. It took about an hour to put together (I'm sure it could be done in 15 minutes). It's pretty light and easy to move around, yet feels pretty sturdy when assembled. I weight about 150lbs and the bench is perfect for me. I do wish it had a decline position but that's the only drawback. For the price, it's a quality bench.Notes to consider:- the packaging it came in was terrible, almost came apart, and one of the bolts literally fell out of the box somewhere in transit, so I had to go pick up a replacement at a hardware store which was annoying.- the faux-leather upholstery does off-gas for a few days as others have mentioned, so I'd put it somewhere you will be able to tolerate this for the first week. Wiping the whole thing down with a warm damp washclothes and a tiny bit of mild detergent will help.

Good unit but poor packaging and poor customer service
May 10, 2017
Good value for the money. Solid well built unit. As was the case for other reviewers the box arrived partially damaged. Some of the parts were dislodged from the bubble card and were missing. Called customer service several times but never received a response. I finally found most parts at the hardware store.
You get what you pay for...
August 15, 2016
Probably worth two stars, but I knew I was getting what I paid for. This will get the job done for pull-ups, moderately heavy squats, and I suppose some bench work if you have a standalone bench to use. It's pretty cheaply built and mine has a slight lean to it. It doesn't impact my lifts, but I'd be very cautious when approaching the max capacity for this thing. I also don't feel comfortable squatting anything over 300 if I don't have weights on the side plate-holders. There are tabs to bolt this to the floor, which could eliminate some concerns, but that's not an option in my garage. I'd recommend something that was sturdier to avoid potential side-racking/leaning.

January 13, 2016
It is a solid half rack, but still needs to be bolted to the floor so it doesn't tip when performing pull ups, leg raises, and reracking a bar at squat height. The box was a wreck when it showed up, but all the parts were still there and undamaged. The safety arms and j cups don't have a right and left orientation, so you have to pull all the plates off the storage arm to adjust the safety arm height. Still worth the money @ $200, but I don't see this being used past a year before upgrading to a full power rack.
This is a great product to build a home gym with
January 10, 2016
This is a great product to build a home gym with. Working out at home is extremely convenient and really helped me reach my goals. I couldn't have done it without a half rack like this. Can't beat a product like this for the price, however it works for what I use it for but not much more. The safety bars are too short and makes me feel as though I have to be in the sweet spot to be safe. The "sweet spot" is then too close to the hinges that hold up the barbell bar so now I have a problem of being too close to it and touching it. If the safety bars were half a feet longer, that would've been ideal. I've used the safety bars many times now. The best part about having a safety is you can push yourself beyond what you believe you would collapse on.It wobbles when pushed side to side but that's ok because I never use it for anything that has that motion. The pullup bar works very well and the rack does not sway while I do a pullup. It is strong against up down and forward and backwards motion. Just not side to side. I've also added my own diy tricep pulldown system strapped to the pullup bar and it works really well. Other than that, the construction is pretty good. Free shipping and for $200 is a very good price. I wouldn't want to pay more for it though.
Good Product
December 4, 2015
I have had the product for about a month now. Although the product itself seems to be pretty good. The j-hooks are pretty low quality so if you're like me and put up some pretty heavy weights, go with a different product. The seller of this product (Wherehouse Fitness) is terrible! The box looked as if a wolverine attempted to gain access to it. The parts package (screws and washers) was completely open and shredded. I'm almost a month into trying to get the replacement parts to fully assemble the rack; however, have met with some serious resistance. Instead of sending me the required pieces, they asked for pictures of the missing or broken parts. After further communication I was then informed the parts would be sent ASAP; however, I've had to re-contact them and ask where the parts are. They've since responded with, I don't know but let me check. No information yet on when or if I'll get those parts. Well, it looks more likely that I'll have to go find my own parts to finish the rack. I will give the product from Cap Barbell a 4⭐️; however, the seller is getting a1 ⭐️..
Some good, some bad
June 13, 2015
Some good news and some bad news. The good news is that it looks nice and the size/dimensions made it fit well in my basement. The bad news is that I'm not sure how comfortable I would be squatting or bench pressing a lot of weight on this thing. It's hard to explain but I feel like for the most part when racking the weights from benching or squatting, there is some movement in the cage front to back, but I don't think it will fall over but it doesn't feel rock solid. When doing pull ups on the top bar, there is noticeable lack of stability from side to side. Again, I don't think it's going to fall apart, but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I'd say it's a good product, it isn't going to blow you away. I feel like when racking the bench if I had 275lbs on the bar and no weights on the side holders of the cage, there would be a massive amount of movement when racking the weight. Just my thoughts...I think it is ok for a home gym for someone not doing a ton of weight and not too concerned about pullups. It's not going to feel like a gym-quality cage though.

The item itself is great taking its flaws aside
July 16, 2017
The item itself is great taking its flaws aside. The seat bracket was not centered correctly and had to have it re-welded along with re-enforcing other support welds to keep them from cranking under weight. Minor tear on the back support, nothing a little vinyl tape couldn't fix and came with a few rust spots. But once I fixed all of those flaws I really am enjoying the bench, just wish I could have enjoyed it right away and not gone the extra mile to recondition it, but for 93 bucks it was worth it. Anyways that's why I'm giving it 3 stars.
Decent
July 10, 2017
Good stability when you lay on it or use it. Only issue is the two bottom feet seem to turn around a bit when they should be stable and shouldn't move at all. I'm worried about the long-term use if the base becomes unstable or a foot twists off.
It wobbles a bit on incline
May 5, 2017
The bench is pretty sturdy when it is flat. When it is on incline, however, the back rest is wobbly and it takes some getting used to. From what I can see the back rest is wobbly because the back rest is only held by the curved bar on one side. If it were on both sides of the bench it would probably be more sturdy..
Ok
March 20, 2017
After putting it together I notice a similar issue as others; the gap between the upper and lower seat creates a less than ideal ergonomic position. Also, despite tightening and loosening nuts and bolts, I can't get the two pieces to line up properly; there's a small angle that doesn't seem significant enough to impact the work out. I haven't started using it, but it seems fairly sturdy. Definitely not commercial, but should work ok for home gyms.
Good, but not Great
September 15, 2016
The overall Construction is sturdy but the "feet" always seem to be loose. i have tightened them on several occasions and even so tight that it dented the metal at the bottom once but they always seem to come loose again. the folding mechanism works well and the seat is wide, long and comfortable
Not bad, not great
May 16, 2015
For the price it's fairly well constructed but this is a case of "you get what you pay for". It's sturdy but has a few drawbacks:- the back rest / bench is short. I'm 5' 11" and my head exceeds the top of the bench by 4-6 inches so there is not good support for your neck while lifting- the pins to adjust the angle must be BOTH unscrewed and pulled out to adjust. It's not a total pain but the unscrewing then re-screwing is annoying during a workout.- it dos not have decline capability but that is clear up front, just a design limitation.I immediately returned it due to the lack of support and purchased the X-Mark XM-7604. It is more expensive but clearly a better unit. Sturdy, padding is great, taller with better support. I feel much better using this new bench. Cap bench is not bad for the price but spend a bit more and you'll find the X-Mark far easier to use.

Used, previously assembled, missing hardware
September 1, 2017
Got home to find this delivered. Box was pretty beat up, not a big deal. But when I went to move the box and found some of the hardware on the ground I knew things were going to go down hill. Open the box and find pretty much all of the hardware missing from the packaging. As I start digging pieces out to see exactly what's missing its clear this was previously assembled. While this is a work out piece of equipment a few scratches aren't a big deal but I bought a New item. Not Used. Not missing hardware. I was able to source what I was missing from Lowe's and complete the assembly. These fasteners are metric. If you can't just stick a nut on the fasteners make sure you get the right thread and pitch. 10mmx 1.50. Besides that it's an ok piece. Just pissed it was used not new and missing hardware.
low quality material
November 3, 2016
get what you pay for. low quality and tends to want to tip over.
Awaiting issue resolution.
October 27, 2016
Missing the bar holder parts. Package was badly damaged. Many parts(J-hooks specifically) were bent. The J-hooks and safety bars also do not have the rubber padding on them that would snug-up the fit against the square column tubes. There's a lot of play between the safety bars/j-hooks and the square tubing. Still working with customer service on getting replacements. Will update if issues resolved. Overall opinion so far, probably wouldn't recommend unless issues resolved. If issues resolved, would and will recommend for novice lifters like myself.
Poor packaging
October 17, 2016
The pictures truly are the same as the product, however it comes in such a poor packaging that you'll spend more time actually trying to bend the metal parts that got ruined due to the poor attempt to secure the corners. After a couple of days of mindless hammering to get it to fix i was able to put it together. Hopefully this will not crash down on me and place me on the list of death by natural selection.
Mediocre product beat up due to bad packing
May 31, 2016
Box was ripped open at one end. Parts were completely bent or scratched. Locked everything down with a socket wrench and the top part still sways. Spotter arms are too short to be useful for squats.
Packaging is laughably horrendous, but works fine once you get all the parts.
May 27, 2016
Took 2 orders (with both boxes severely damaged) in order to get all the parts to assemble one rack. It was actually comical that Amazon demanded I ship the partial box of parts back in order to get a refund. The rack will work fine for light use in a home garage. I'm no powerlifter, so the stability is fine. Love the fact that it has an integrated pull up bar.In all, it works fine for light duty, assuming it actually gets to you in one piece.

Poor assembly prep!
April 29, 2017
So disappointed, after an hour of assembling the bench, I added the last two pieces the seat and back. The seat screw holes re placed in such a away that the seat is askew and not in line with the back. No way to contact seller to request a replacement seat (with properly placed holes).Other than that the piece looks nice and feels sturdy.
Bad assembly design
March 16, 2017
I'm giving it a bad review because of the difficult assembly. Everything was fine until I tried to attach the seat! The predrilled holes are not lined up properly making it almost impossible to attach the seat!
Works, but rubbed me the wrong way.

This bench is very sturdy and seems to do all that is advertised. It might just be me but.... The gap in between the two padded section is two big and constantly in the wrong spot. I am 6foot 3inches and my tail bone is always right in the crack. If I slide up, my head hangs off. If I slide down, my chest won't be under the bar correctly with my rack setup and the base of this bench. I have tried shoving shirts and towels in this crack. It I were 2 or three inches shorted it probably wouldn't matter. I overlooked it for a while, but now I am lifting heavier weight and it rubs me wrong. I continue to use it until I find another bench.

It's shoddily constructed. The seats feel cheap and the components don't all fit together right. It will still be functional but requires some fiddling to get the knobs to lock the positions. I'm a mechanical engineer so its not that I didn't put it together right. The welded parts were not made to correct tolerance. I guess for the price this is to be expected?
Unrefined, unsafe.
July 30, 2016
DO NOT BUY THIS BENCH!While this is ok for anyone working with lighter weights, I do not believe this is good even for beginners because of many engineering, welding issues as well as design flaws.1. The entire frame is welded horribly. When putting together the bench, I had noticed these problems but elected to ignore them. I'm about 6 months into using it now, and they still annoy me. The posts where the bolts for the padding go through are crooked, so the entire backpad and seatpad are crooked and not in alignment. This leads to discomfort when positioning the bench for something like bench, where form is crucial to staying safe. Also, the feet do not come with rubber pads, so you must put it on rubber flooring or carpet to keep from scratching either the bench or the floor.2. Besides all the flaws in the welding of the frame, the biggest issue for me is the design. For some unknown reason, the backpad tapers halfway up to 10 inches. While some may say they prefer smaller backpads, and it may be fine for smaller people, I am 5 feet 7 inches and 160 pounds, and this backpad WILL cause injury with prolonged use. The reason is, on bench you should pinch the shoulder blades to minimize stress on the joint, but this pad is much too narrow to allow that, causing your shoulder blades to fall off while benching because they're so close to the edge. This is actuslly conducive to MORE injury, and you can definitely feel it at heavier weight. Please, just get a bench with a backpad that is 12 inches the whole way as is standard. The pad is also seemingly less than an inch in height, so it offers little support, though this is much less of a problem. Now, many may look at the picture and say that I should flip the bench around since the seatpad is thicker near the end, and this is actually what I am doing. However...3. I just added this on because I benched some more while writing this review, but the bench is also very wobbly. This is not due to user error because I tightened everything appropriately, but is due to the lax way the pin pull mechanism for the changing of the angle is set up. There is way too much play which leads to unstableness, which again can cause injury while performing a lift. This is exacerbated on the seatpad as it is smaller in length which makes it seem that much more unstable.Overall, buying this bench because of price and popularity is not a good reason at all if you plan to do any serious benching or other exercise like that. Get a solid, wide bench that will actually support you in a stable way.
Quality and preference
October 28, 2015
A couple of items to note. One is quality, one is just preference. On the quality side, the lower seat is not flat but at an slight angle because of faulty welding, the angle get worse as you raise the angle on the seat. There was also some small rust spots on the frame on day one, brand new out of the box. On the preference side, while the tapered upper bench pad looks nice, I don't like how my shoulder blades lay on either side while heavy benching. This is not a ding on this CAP Barbell bench design which may work for others, I just prefer the feeling of complete support on my back from a full sized flat bench.

when the package arrived the cardboard was torn and falling apart. There is rust on the metal parts. All of the hardware required to assemble the rack was missing. One of the upper bar catches was missing as well.
Should have spent more for a better quality rack
January 13, 2017
It mostly seems good for the price. But holy crap the packaging was bad. It had either been previously opened or gotten ripped open. A half hearted tape job held the box intact. All the hardware was out of its original packaging and loose in the box. Several pieces were missing, preventing me from completely putting it together. Even worse, one of the bar catches looked to have a pretty terrible weld job. A piece on it was bent. Upon barely touching it, it snapped off. I've contacted them hoping to have the part replaced as well as hopefully get sent the missing nuts and bolts. My hopes are not high, but hopefully they will because I really do not feel like taking it all the way apart again to send it back.
Metal was bent and rust was painted over; very disappointed.

Item arrived damaged: there was rust that was painted over and the metal was bent and I was very unhappy and disappointed.
Looking for an instant death ready to happen?
April 20, 2016
Unfortunately, they did a poor job in welding the base and it is a major injury and lawsuit waiting to happen. The part that attaches to the outer frame is barely hanging on and looks like they completely neglected to weld that side. I'm currently working with Amazon and I may have to pay to have a welder come out to fix the problem. It is already assembled and far too much of a hassle to return. Better to skip on this product unless you want to grab your ankles and grit your teeth. I ignored the bad reviews (foolishly because of the price)and I am thinking that the good reviews are flukes. My advice is to spend a little more and buy a superior product or you will be sorry.
Sometimes you don't get what you pay for
November 4, 2015
Just as many others have said, when this package arrived at my door it literally looked as if it had been dragged behind a UPS truck for weeks. On top of that, the pieces themselves also looked terrible. I immediately thought this has to have been a used item considering how scratched every piece is. And not just scratches, there are some deep gouges too. Upon opening the box I thought I would do a parts check, and of course, parts were missing. This power cage appears to have potential, IF you get all of the pieces, but I didn't pay ten Jackson's for something that looks this bad pre-assembly.
Ships pre-destroyed! Saves you the trouble of breaking it in.

As many other people have commented, this package looks like it was dropped from an airplane, probably more than once. Some of the metal hardware inside is already dented, I'm missing an enormous amount of assembly hardware, and overall could not be more disappointed with a purchase. I would recommend this product to no one, on that standard alone.

Rust and Mold.

Lots of rust and mold. I should have listened to the other people who ranked as one star. Amazon said I can send it back via UPS. Lots of work to pack and return. Box was wrecked. Parts do fit together and no missing parts.
Great product - bad unit
December 14, 2016
It took me, at least, 3 months of search to find the "perfect" bench. Read tons of reviews, searched all different brands and distributor - and I came across this CAP Barbell Deluxe and decided to go ahead and buy it. I didn't have a big budget to spend on this, so I had to be careful with purchase. Delivery was very quick and assembly easy. When I was in the middle of assembling it, I noticed that the bottom welding, where it holds the lever seat (you can raise and lower the seat) has one side missing. So there were supposed to have two (one in each side) to hold it the seat firmly, but they forgot to add the other side. I am extremely worried for safety reasons that I one welding, is not enough to hold someone for too long. Imagine you're holding some heavy dumbbells and the seat just releases itself when the welding breaks??? That can be serious. Anyway, it is a great product though. I'm sure this was overlooked by the quality department. I am not going to return it actually. It is beyond inconvenient for me, so I can't do that. I guess I will be extremely careful and perhaps not even raise the seat. I still recommend this product - my advice is: Before you start assembling the unit, look for all welding parts to make sure they're all secured done. The product is very solid for the price - great built quality. Unfortunately, I got a bad one unit.
Poorly built
September 26, 2016
The bolt holes on the on the bottom of the frame are machined poorly, so, any pressure will cause the bolt to pop out and the frame will detach from the stabilizing legs. I only discovered this after spending an hour putting it all together. I'm not about to take it all apart and ship it back. What a disappointment!
Defective
September 4, 2016
Piece of junk. They sent me a defective piece of merchandise. The holes in the metal piece on the back of the bench do not align with the locking mechanism, so it only works when it's flat. I've taken it apart twice and it's not an error on my end, just a defective piece of equipment that doesn't do what it's supposed to. Too late and too expensive to return. Not pleased at all. If I wanted a flat bench I could've purchased one for half the price.
GARBAGE! Only had it in use for 3 weeks and it is already going to the corner for the trash to pick up!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
April 19, 2016
I just bought this CAP Bench last month and the seat elevation knob has already broken off at the actual weld. I am 195lbs and the weight I lift in this bench is nothing near too heavy. It actually broke when I was benching 225lbs, regular weight for a man my size. I can no longer return this because its a 30 day policy. I work out of town so I just un packaged this in the last two weeks and it is already broken. TOO MUCH MONEY FOR SUCH SHOTTY WORK AND CONTRUCTION.I would go with any other bench besides this one for anyone looking for a regular use bench, I cant warn against this enough. I promise you that most people that give this thing good reviews don't really use this bench. CAP is a second rate brand and I also purchased dumbells from them that had one end break off completely on the FIRST use. Never again CAP, I really want to apologize to all the reviewers that warned against this bench that I did not listen to. I wish there was a negative star that I could give this bench and brand of workout equipment.

Poor quality. The lower seat adjustment does not line up with the locking pin and the two support bars twist no matter how tight the bolts are... do yourself a fovor and spend a little more for superior quality bench.
