Solid rack, fantastic value
May 25, 2016
I’ve spent the last few months researching which power rack to purchase for my home gym. In the end, it really came down to this rack or the Powerline rack that got such great reviews on the forums. I chose this rack because it uses heavier gauge steel, has a higher weight capacity, and 2” hole spacing. Personally, the hole spacing was ultimately the deciding factor because I didn’t want to mess around with shimming my bench to get the safeties at the right height for bench press.Shipping was fast and both packages arrived together; both were undamaged. Assembly was pretty straight forward and took about 1.5hrs. One of the bolts they sent was unusable and I had to run to the hardware store to get a replacement. Not a big deal. I put the entire rack together loosely before going back and tightening each bolt down. Some reviewers mentioned that the new models come with j hooks, but mine came with 2 chrome plated lift offs.Overall, the rack is very good quality especially considering the price. There was no dimpling of the metal where the holes are drilled out, the welds all appear solid and uniform. All of the holes line up perfectly, and the safeties slide in/out easily without scraping. The rack does not wobble at all while doing kipping pull-ups and the bar is at a very comfortable height (for reference, I am 5’11 185lbs). I am able to put the safeties at the perfect height for all presses/squats so now I can safely perform this lifts alone.
This is an excellent power rack
April 29, 2016
This is an excellent power rack. I am so glad I went with this rack over the Titan T3. No bolting to the floor or plywood, and it is very stable. The 2" spacing is great and is more than adequate for all presses and lifts. All I have ever used is 2" spacing in local gyms. The black finish, although painted, looks almost like a parkerized finish and is very attractive. I have this rack in my bedroom on two 4'x6' stall mats. I re-purposed some old dumbbell handles for weight holders on the back of the rack that worked out great. I used a gold Sharpie and a speed square to mark all of the elevations that I use for flat bench, incline, military press, squats, and dead lift /shrugs. I also ordered the dip attachments which also work very well. I like that you can slide adjust them for width. I removed the screw sets from both dip arms due to not needing them, as they do not move. There was a small spot of rust that I even hate to mention on one of the chrome J-hook/pegs. I contacted customer service and they promptly mailed a new one before I could respond to tell them not to worry about it. I only wish that I would have ordered another set of J-hook/pegs due to it not being a walk through design like the Rogue R3 / Titan T3. Due to the design I have to turn my bench around and use the apposite side of the rack for military presses.Update 8-1-2016With a little over three months with this rack I have made significant strength gains. I also upgraded to Olympic weights. I dropped 455 LB. on the safety catches today squatting for reps and it didn't hurt them at all. I have dropped 300+ multiple times benching for reps. This rack is the single best piece of equipment I have purchased. I am a firm believer that in order to make maximum gains you have to be able to lift to failure. Even if its a three rep powerlifting routine.
The monumental purchase for your new home gym.
June 7, 2015
Have a barbell and enough plates to build some significant strength? If you are looking to build a home gym, this is your first step to making sure your body development stays properly in proportion. I've had enough of paying ridiculous sums of money for a gym, just to go to a squat rack and find someone curling inside of it. For Squats and other leg exercises, this cage was perfect for developing power and a good lower body. If you are 5'10-6 feet (No taller than that), you can military press inside without hitting the top. This is great, because the guard rails hold a significant amount of weight, and you will never get injured.Sliding a bench in for chest is easy. I found it awesome that I could simply bench by myself without a spotter, because we all know how that goes without a buddy or proper safety to guide us. Overall, this is a great product. If you have good equipment, or are looking to invest in some, this is the best bang for your buck. Regardless of your routine, use good form, even out the body exercises, and you will get stronger than ever before.I have done all of these barbell exercises with ease and safety inside this rack (Back Squats, Front Squats, Flat Bench, Incline Bench, Pendlay Rows, Pull Ups, Floor Press, Bulgarian Split Squats, Military Press, Romanian Deadlift, Conventional Deadlift, Rack Pulls, Power Cleans, Snatch High Pull, and many more.)
... power rack in 2 boxes on 2/18/15 which were nicely banded and wrapped
February 19, 2015
I received my power rack in 2 boxes on 2/18/15 which were nicely banded and wrapped. The main box had a few holes in it, likely from shipping, but the holes were protected with the wrap around the boxes. The rack only took about 45 minutes to put together and I did it by myself, but it is recommended that it be put together with 2 for safety reasons. The rack appears to be solidly built. I did a few pull ups and there was not much wobble. I assume after putting weights on the pegs, that it won’t budge while doing pull ups. One thing that helped in the speedy assembly, was that I used my power drill with a socket attachment instead of the included wrenches.Pros: Solid, nice knurling on the pull up bar, easy to build, all hardware included, nice finish job.Cons: Hardware package broken inside box, came with round catches instead of J-hooks.Recent reviewers have stated that the set is coming with J-hooks now, however, I received the older round bar catches instead. I will post an update as I use it to see if it holds up.
Superbly built power cage at an amazing price
November 9, 2014
As an experienced powerlifter, I can tell you this power cage is more than adequate for any weightlifting need you may have. It supports a 405lbs loaded barbell at the pegs and railings without any rocking or wobbling whatsoever.PROS:-Tough build. No rocking or wobbling even at heavy weights. Handles the racking of Squat, Benchpress, Military press, etc without any problems.-Easy to build. Took me only 1/2 hour assembling by myself with only a ratchet + 7mm socket.-Looks great. The stock pictures doesn't do it justice.CONS:-cheap paintjob which scrapes off with the beatdown of a workout-pullup bar knurling a little too shallow-cage a little narrow from front to back. Doesnt give you too much space to walk backwards when unracking for a squat, for example. Conclusion: You won't find a better power cage below $500.
Can't beat this rack for the money and quality
February 21, 2012
Background: I've been actively searching for a quality and affordable rack for my crossfit-centric home gym for months. I've scoured every possible website and read pages of reviews. I didn't want to spend more than 5-600 bucks and was looking for a good mix of price and quality. I was orginally leaning towards the Powerline PPR200 at the lower end of my budget, and the Powertec PR11 towards the upper end. The Powerline didn't seem very beefy, and the 14 gauge steel and 3" hole spacing was a negative for me (many reviewers mentioned the steel would dimple easily if the washers were torqued too much during assembly). The Powertec seemed like a solid rack, but there were some design issues that kept me from pulling the trigger. The Powertec has a curved pullup bar and the design/positioning of the rear lower crossbar in relation to the positioning of a bench made incline presses uncomfortable at best (same thing with the Powerline). Also, at about 500 bucks, I personally didn't feel that the Powertec was 200 dollars better than this rack at 300 bucks shipped (that $200 difference could go towards more equipment like bumper plates and slam balls). So I hesitantly pulled the trigger on this rack based mostly on the reviews here on Amazon. Here are some of my observations:- Packaging: Item came delivered in two boxes (well ahead of the estimated delivery date provided by Amazon). Each piece of the rack was individually wrapped in plastic. I did not have any of the small lead balls previously mentioned in another review. Much to my pleasure, the safety bars and the hooks were all chrome so I should not have any issues with paint flaking when removing/reinserting. Kudos to the manufacturer/owner for realising a flaw and correcting it.- Quality: Material seems top-notch. All welds were good and all holes lined up perfectly for assembly. The safety bars and hooks are solid and heavy. The pullup bar is black, solid, and has sufficient knurling on both ends to allow for a good grip without tearing up your hands.- Assembly: I assembled most of the rack myself with a combination wrench and a socket. The only time I had assistance was with the upper supports and I probably could have done it myself. No detailed instructions - and they aren't needed. You get an exploded diagram of how everything should fit together along with some assembly pointers and that worked out just fine. Assembly at a leisurely pace took about an hour.- Design/Construction: This rack uses 12 gauge steel and once assembled, is very solid. I'm 5'11" and 190, and this thing doesn't budge when doing pullups. The rack is plenty wide and offers more than adequate front to back spacing within the rack itself (26" IIRC, unlike the Powerline which is only 24"). If you'll notice in the pictures, the rear lower crossbar where the weight plate holders are is extended out a bit from the frame uprights, which allows you to slide a bench further back for inclines and also allows you to get up under a bar for squats without your toes banging into the lower crossbar. The weight plate holders are in the rear, which could be both a plus and a negative. If you are pressed for space, this may be an issue if you choose to store your weights there. If you have the space, storing your plates on those holders allow for a more stable rack. At least you have the option, since at this price point I've yet to find another rack that offers any sort of built in plate storage. Also, the hole spacing is 2" apart, unlike the 3" for the Powerline and the 2.5" for the Powertec.Overall, this is an outstanding product for $300 bucks shipped and I have no regrets about this purchase. This rack, combined with a set of bumber plates, a set of rings, and a plyo box will take me a long way.

Solid rack
October 25, 2016
This rack is easy to put together. Paint is pretty nice. It's not powder coated but it's better than the paint the titan racks come with. The rack showed up in good condition unlike the one i ordered from titan. Only negative thing i have to mention like alot of other viewer's is the j hooks. They will scratch your bar and they are too long. This would be the perfect setup if sold with better jay hooks.
Heavy duty budget friendly squat rack.
July 17, 2016
The Atlas squat rack is an affordable and heavy duty rack perfect for my home gym. Price range was exactly what I was looking for and know with an 800 lbs weight capacity that I will not outgrow it.Would give it a perfect 5 stars but took off because holes are not numbered, and instructions diagrams are kinda small. Accidentally mixed up the front and rear vertical pillars adding a few minutes of extra work. Would also consider getting an additional set of actual j-hooks so you don't have to adjust between squats and whatever other excercises you might use them for.
I'm happy with this purchase
June 6, 2016
I'm happy with this purchase. Its plenty sturdy and is of good quality for its price point. I can see a bigger guy wanting something a little pricier thats made of thicker steel, but this is great for me. It did come with a bent pullup bar but I contacted the seller and they responded within an hour saying they would ship a new one. Even using it without the pullup bar it still feels sturdy. I also purchased the dip attachment and its awesome. My only complaint is the pins that hold the bar. They are way too long and give the bar like 4.75" of room to roll back and forth. It may sound silly but it makes my workout feel really loose and is a little unnerving. Anyway, It bothered me so bad I ordered a pair of J-Hooks from rep fitness and now everythings great. The J-hook only give the bar a couple of inches to move around so the bar stays put. I don't understand why they don't use J-hooks to begin with like most other racks. That was like an extra $50.Assembly was also tricky. How it goes together is fairly simple but when putting the 3 pieces together that form the base, it was not level (and no, it wasn't the floor). I figured the weight of the cage would fix that but I was wrong and had to disassemble it. I noticed many of the pieces were identical and symmetrical so it became a game of switching the two base pieces and trying them flipped upside down and I finally found a combination that made the base level. I also had to put a weight plate on each corner of the base while assembling the top, otherwise it would cause the base to be slightly un-level again. Anyway, now its complete and feels/works great.TLDR:Great rack for the price. The pins that come with it suck, buy some J-hooks.Assembly tip: Make sure the base is completely level before moving on (doh!)
Atlas Power Rack vs Rogue
August 24, 2015
if you're like me and torn between a Rogue rack and this rack, ask yourself this question. Will an undoubtably better made rack make me stronger? Chances are that your answer, like mine, was no. You can pick out minor problems with this rack but at the end of the day it does what it's supposed to do for half the price of a Rogue rack. Think about what else you could buy for that additional $400. Sure it would make you feel really warm and giddy to have a shiny rack with 1" spacing for the J Hooks and Rogue blasted on the side but it really won't make you any better. You can't beat this rack for the money.
read this if assembling alone
October 7, 2013
just got this a couple of days ago and assembled it last night. The assembly instructions are simple,a diagram showing were the bolts go and some simple directions explaining what order to assemble the parts. However, if your putting this together by yourself i recommend you disregard the order the factory suggests, since they assume three people are going to be putting this together. First attach the four uprights to the side feet(the eight flat head bolts are the only ones i recommend you tighten before completion, you'll understand why) then attach them to the rear lower support. Once this is done its simple to attach the upper supports by yourself. I bought this becuase i'm getting older and although i don't go heavy i still want the option to go to failure without the safety concerns,i recommend you buy extra pins that way you can have the weights set up for your next exercise ie, squats on back deadlift on front.I don't have much else to add the construction and quality seem great for the price.
Mixed feelings, overall a great value
February 17, 2013
Shipping was very fast for this product. Not quite Prime-fast, but still impressive. Item arrived in two boxes, both noticeably worn whereas the edges of some of the components were visible through the packaging. It wasn't that much of a surprise that, upon unpacking, I noticed that a flange on one of the tubes (bottom piece) was bent rendering it unusable. Not sure if the blame goes to FedEx or the warehouse. Anyhow, the seller responded quickly and overnighted a replacement part. That piece was also bent but useable so I decided to just go ahead with assembly. The rack was easy enough to assemble and, despite the fact that the bolts ripped out of their vacuum packaging in the box, all hardware was present. Instructions consist of one piece of paper with a diagram. I'm fairly handy and I like building stuff so it wasn't a problem. The components are all 12 guage steel, as indicated, and feel nice and heavy. All of the holes lined up properly with minimal burrs. The finish (paint) is not very consistent - glossy in some sections, sandy in others, good amount of chips & scrapes right out of the box. Overall, its a power rack so who really cares about the paint. The rack, as constructed, seems pretty sturdy; however, I noticed that it wobbles/sways quite a bit, left to right. I find that concerning. Since the rack is set up in my basement, I bought some angle iron at Lowes to attach the top rear corners to the floor joists above. I'm hoping this partially eliminates the lateral movement.Overall, I think this rack will last for a while but in hindsight I would have invested in a larger/heavier rack.OCTOBER 2013 update:I've been using this rack quite a bit over the past 6 months. Can't say I'm using it daily, but its seen a decent amount of wear and appears to be holding up just fine. I also don't lift super heavy weights but I have a lot of confidence in the construction of this rack. I updated the rating to four stars since this rack has ultimately proved to be a great value. As noted in my original review, I ended up securing the upper rear corners to the exposed, overhead floor joists in my basement using slotted angle iron. I cut the angle iron down to about 18" to 24" pieces which are attached at a 45 deg angle to the joists above, preventing side-to-side motion (wobbling, which was my only concern about this free-standing rack). This modification has taken nearly all of the shimmy out of the rack, although it transfers more noise to the floor above since they are connected. I highly recommend this mod if you have a similar set-up or are concerned about the wobble. Also, I purchased some galvanized pipe nipple (12" length or so) & caps to make plate holders using the lower rear holes. Also highly recommend.

A little thin... This rack is just 16 guage steel. Several places deformed under the proper torque for bolting a structure like this. Should come with an extra set of J hooks for the total cost with shipping. About like any other china rack.

March 1, 2016
When I first ordered this product I didn't receive all of the components necessary for assembly. I contacted the manufacturer about the missing part, and they sent one out almost right away. Overall I'd say that this product is fairly good. My only complaints are that the pieces that hold the bar aren't fitted well (thus sag), and the replacement part they sent me is rusted on the inside.
The Rack is ok, the packaging, not so much.
June 6, 2014
I received this today and was upset in the state it arrived in. The boxes where torn up and barely held together by the straps used to hold them closed. The boxes look as if they where busted open then strapped back together then wrapped in saran wrap.Shipped by FEDEX by the way.I wasn't there to reject the packages or I would have sent them back.I unwrapped the saran wrap and discovered one of the boxes had a rather sizable hole in it; no biggie, that happens from time to time. Until I undid the straps and and the box fell apart. Nuts, bolts, and washers everywhere. Parts where unwrapped and haphazardly set in the box. So they are dinged and dented. Luckily, no parts where missing. None of the bolts where in their packaging, in fact the packaging for the bolts was torn up.Assembly is fairly straight forward, just pay attention to the one CAD drawing and you'll get it in no time. Took me 45 minutes by myself. 2 17mm wrenches can get it done, a socket wrench or air gun will make it easier. Be warned that the metal is fairly low grade, so over tightening can damage and/or bend it. The welds at each joint are OK at best. I am slightly concerned about cracking and splitting along the welds. The j-hooks are well made and the catch bars seem sturdy, I hope to never find out how sturdy. Pull up bar could used a little better knurling.OVERALL, this rack is great for home use and will do just fine for moderate weight training. I may reinforce the frame later and add tabs for concrete anchors. To the seller; Im sure you packaged the 2 boxes well, I suspect FedEx was the culprit for the damage. No serious damage to the frame, mostly small dings and paint chips.

July 4, 2016
I really want to like this power rack, but the quality is just lacking. Barbells4me stands by their product and sent me replacement parts after the chrome kept coming off the safety bars, so I thought to leave it at that. However, a decent size chunk of chrome came off into my hand today causing me to bleed quite a bit. The black parts seem okay even though the paint came chipped off and is being worn off even after only a dozen or so uses (where the safety bars rub). It shakes quite a bit, but seems sturdy otherwise.
You get less than what you pay for
April 2, 2014
At around $370 delivered, it would be silly to expect a top-quality cage. But the $300-500 pricepoint is becoming crowded, even with cages bought from local sports stores. Unfortunately, it's not just that this cage isn't top quality, but that it seems to be junk.PROS:-Safety bars are very sturdy-Includes a chinup bar that is set back into the frame so it is fairly stable-Small footprint compared to a lot of racksCONS:-The steel is worryingly weak--I torqued the bolts to 100ft/lbs and this was enough to significantly deform the vertical supports in a number of places.-Every single piece of the cage was damaged on arrival, from scuffs to large chips in the paint. I think their warehouse is run by gorillas.-The J-hooks are total garbage. Sloppy welds, beat up paint, damaged posts. I'm worried they are going to fail while loaded and I'll wind up with a face full of bar.-One of each of the J-hooks and safety bars wasn't made large enough to fit on the cage. I had to knock them into shape with a hammer.-One of the shipping boxes had thousands of tiny metal beads from the manufacturing process loose in the box, which promptly spilled all over my floor.
Good rack for the price, has flaws
October 21, 2013
The power rack is very easy to build. I put it together myself in under an hour. The pieces are decent quality and the rack is quite stable. The safety bars are thick steel and inspire great confidence in lifting. There are a few criticisms I would make:1) The rack is short. I'm 5'10" (average male height) and when doing a standing barbell overhead press, the barbell hits the rack. It is possible for me to press inside the rack if I take a snatch grip and split my feet as wide as possible. When putting the J hooks on the front of the rack, it's somewhat unstable. This isn't a deal breaker as I'm not pressing 200lbs yet, but I can imagine it being a problem for some.2) The J hooks are poorly made. The weld where the pin was attached is not smoothed out at all and generates a lot of friction and noise when unracking the bar. It's distracting when unracking heavy weights to hit the weld and deal with the jarring motion. A smoother weld would make for a much better lifting experience. Additionally, the j-hooks are bare metal, which isn't great for the barbell's knurling.3) The chinup bar has really soft knurling. I'd prefer something a bit sharper to help the grip out. The finish is also different from the rest of the rack, and is really slick. The bar is also thicker than most. Great for training grip. Not so great for training pullups. At $360 shipped, this is a decent buy if the low rack height and bad chinup bar don't bother you. However, those are unacceptable flaws for me, so I'm going to be getting rid of this rack.

No one knows who makes this rack
May 26, 2016
While this looks like a good rack to start out, no one, including the sellers can tell you exactly who makes it. I have tried to find out for over two weeks but if you buy this thing, your on your own. No factory backup should you need it. Since it looks like a direct rip off of a titan t2, I feel better investing a few more bucks for something with a source.
