These have lasted for a long while and wonderful to keep when you're on the go! Although I always seem to misplace them and find them in odd places they have not let me down so far. They are simply made and have stood up to every test I throw at them and I highly suggest them for anyone looking for a little measuring tape that can fit beautifully into your pocket.

Great price for 3 retractable tapes! Very handy, I carry one in my purse, it's light as a feather and very compact. Another in the junk drawer and the 3 rd in my office. No more guessing about measurements! They've been banged around a bit, dropped, etc and so far they are holding up fine. Button to retract works great.

I used tape measures a lot, and keep one in my office, car, craft box, etc. These are nice and lightweight, fit easily in your pocket or drawer and do the job nicely. Since I'm always misplacing them, I was happy to get three at a time!

Great set! I don't use them very often, but it is nice to have on in the gym and at home. When training heavier clients it is pretty much necessary to use measurements rather than fat measurements, and these work just great for that. I happen to also love the push button to rewind feature; others may not like it.This type of product is not supposed to be put through the ringer, so keep that in mind, I have used it under normal situations and have never had a problem with any of them, yes they are cheap and feel as such, but there is no reason to spend $15 on a tape measure for you waist.

I had to get a soft retractable tape measure for medical school so I got this because 3 for about $2.50 is a steal! I was hesitant at first because some reviews said that the inch measurement was off, but I checked mine against a ruler as soon as I got them and everything seems alright. Both the inch and centimeter side are accurate.As for the product itself, I've only had it a day so I haven't used it too much but I've pulled out the tape and retracted it quite a few times with no issues so I expect that it'll hold up for a while!

I bought this because my two year old loves to play with Daddy's tape measure. Well, thos things are very dangerous with it's sharp metal edge that retracts so quickly. So I bought the inexpensive soft tape measures and the kids love them! (and the parents too). My little boy is very entertained pulling the tape out and pushing the button to make it retract. I love that it is soft and has no sharp edges. The other kids that come over fit over playing with this, and at this cost, I just hand them a spare... everyone is happy. Also, if a kid happens to pull too hard and break one (already happened), it cheap to replace... you just chuck the broken one and pull out a spare. I am definitely going to be buying more. I keep it in my bag, for a distraction while we are out. Very handy.

As a Master Carpenter I only use Stanley tapes. They never fail to extend or fail to return. I can ‘throw’ eight/ten of tape out with a flick of my wrist on a roof or laying out a floor plan. WHIP it and it return automatically. I prefer the 30’ tape as it saves lots of walking. A good heavy duty construction tape.AND I MUST ADD AMAZON is the best for online purchases. This isn't the first Stanley tape I've ever purchased, but I'm only replacing my old one because the other rolled a little too far down a muddy hill for me to go to the trouble. If you're reading this because you're on the fence about what tape to buy then look no further. Yes, some styles are cooler, some tapes are wider, etc. If you just need a long lasting, quality tape for your tool box (which everyone should have) then this is the way to go.

I am a plumber by trade and a tape measure is one of the most important tools in my tool box if not the most important. I like the newer version of the Stanley powerlock because of its size and unique shape which makes it a more comfortable tape to use on a daily basis. Stanley has great customer service along with Amazon having the best customer service in the game makes this purchase a no brainer. This is the 25 ft version which is the one I prefer. It has a free stand of exactly 8'3" I don't care what the description says if it does that is what u get. If u haven't purchased one of the new version of the power lock I think u will be pleasantly suprised. Great tool and a must have for any professional.

This tape has been on my tool pouch for almost 2 years now and it's still going strong. I have dropped it from the tops of ladders and off of rooftops and while it's pretty beat up looking there are no cracks in the casing and it still extends and retracts as smoothly as the day I bought it.The brake still slides effortlessly and locks completely.Numbers and dashes are easy to read.The belt clip on the back is very solid. I also have a Klein 25' tape that I loved initially but the clip broke off after only a month or so!It will extend free air to about 8' or so without "breaking" ...more rigid than other 25' tapes I've owned.I'm sure I'll have this on my toolbelt for many more years to come.

Very happy with this tape measure. I pulled my last one out too far and it wouldn't retract. I get ideas and need to measure if they will work before I start lugging furniture around the house and putting in a new rug and then it's too big/small for where I'd pictured it. This is perfect for a girl that needs to move things around and clean behind everything and get in new things without adding needless duress bc it didn't fit or something! Every girl needs a good tape! I am an inside girl not a construction worker :)

The are hands down the best tapes out there, as a professional finish carpenter I use the everyday, they will last a long time. the size is "just right" to hold comfortably in your hand, I had new one malfunction and called Stanley about it, It was no problem they sent me another just like that no issue at all, I recommend this tape for all round work, sure it does not "stand out 8' as they say" but I have never found that to be a problem.###EDIT### After using the new Stanley tapes I bought I have to recant some of the good things I had to say about the tapes. I bought 3 of them, 2 of them have split 1/4 inch strips along the sides and then turn into razor blades! I had one break and cut my thumb. Not happy with the thinner blade material. I found one of the older tapes that look just like these and the tape was much thicker. Just like everything else you get less for the same money. I will be looking for a replacement to the "former great Stanley tapes". Shame because Stanley meant quality in my book.

Great stocking stuffers but the kids pull it too hard and it can break and not roll back in

arrived in about 10 days (shipped to Florida from China). very affordable, arrived in great condition. however, PLEASE NOTE that the measurements on the inches side may not be accurate! only one of the 3 i ordered had correct markings for inches. otherwise, the centimeters side (which I needed) was accurate for ALL. so be careful is you're using these to measure with inches! also, note that i received one blue, one green and one red measuring tape - not 3 purple as depicted. still a great buy if you need to measure in centimeters!

Indispensible to home-based nurses. These little beauties can be sanitized and used to measure height and girth.They're inexpensive and I suppose one could find someone to screen-print a logo on them for giveaways.I keep one in my purse to measure inseams and sleeve lengths for my 6'4" husband's clothing.

This tape it is a great product, the retractable system works and makes measurement faster. I would recommend it to anyone who needs one. Remember it is 1,5 meters long.

Bought this for simple use around the house. Not a contractor or carpenter by any means, just needed something to measure things for hanging pictures and shelves and space planning, nothing extensive.The tape is indeed the 25' advertised, however, despite appearances, it is not metal of any kind. The measure housing itself is chromed plastic. It does seem pretty heavy duty though, so I wouldn't worry about that.Everything works just fine, but the reason that I docked a star was for the fact that the tape lock doesn't seem to work very well and never seems to go down all the way so the tape never gets firmly locked in place on my particular tape measure. Overall, for at least the basic household uses I need this for, it works fine, just with it would lock correctly.

Pros: its a standard tape measure, you know what it does. Nice and sturdy tape that extends out a good ways before it bends, retracts nice and fastCons: the opening on the clip is a little large and as such seems to get caught on your pocket you got it clipped on. Being a glazier i carry a side tool pouch and the clip constantly gets caught on the tape measure holder strap so ill be using another tape measure.

This is a positive recommendation for any other fellow clumsy home remodelers that too often drop their tapes while working overhead or on ladders dreading the bounce off the floor of the more frequently plastic case tapes that result in a cracked case or damaged internal tape mechanism that causes problems with future extraction and release back into the case. This thing is close to indestructible and one other added benefit given its bright stainless metal case it is very easy to spot in the jumbled tool bucket or in a pile of tools when you need to find it right away. Small things really but on top of being well built and reliable given the many tapes I own I find myself using this one most frequently.

As others have noted, the eight foot stand-out seems to be an exaggerated claim for advertising purposes - six feet at most on the one I got, fresh out of the box. Anything longer and it folds over. I expect this will be quite sufficient for what I will be using it for. Seems very robust, and the retraction mechanism is quieter than usual. I'll update this review if it breaks on me - I've broken lots of tape measures before.

Very comfortable and ergonomic tape measure/

Bought for my toddler since he loves tape measures, but the real ones make me nervous of cutting him. Anyway, within 25 minutes it broke! My husband was able to fix it...and we have two spares! So it is worth the money and would probably last much longer with adult usage.

Needed a small tape measure. Amazing how often you use a flexible one after you have it. Used the same one for over 6 month with no failure

slow to rewind

These are fine, however not very durable if you are trying to teach your kids about measuring and you let them actually use the tape measure on their own. My mom has one my kids have played with for years that hasn't broken, but one of ours broke the very first day (stopped retracting). I don't want them using the heavy, sharp, weapon-like metal tape measure we have so I got these thinking they'd be a good option for kids interested in measuring things. We ended up pulling the plastic container off of the one that stopped retracting, and we use just the tape to measure still, but it's kind of obnoxious because then it just sits around like a long string, getting caught up in things and not storing away well.

These weren't expensive, but I would rather spend more and have them last. I've had a soft retractable tape measure for years. I carry it in my purse so I can measure things when I'm shopping to see if they fit the space I'm thinking about filling. My grandson wanted his own, so I ordered these. There were three in the package so after the first one quit retracting within a day or two, we still have two more.

Initially retracted well and then after a month the mechanism isn't working like it should. Still measures like it should so I can't be that mad.

Standard Stanely tape measure. The catch on the end is smooth so sometimes it tends to slip off easier than aome of the other tapes I've used.

Tape does not retract well at all.

Worked alright for a while. Let it retract too quickly one time and the the end of the tape twisted and creased, but that was my own fault. However it does say something about the durability of this product. Definitely wouldn't buy this tape again. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for a fat max.

I'm still looking for the Power Lock tape measure with a stiff tape like they used to make. I thought the rounded design may signify the return of the stiff tape......but alas, no.

It works good for little jobs. Its not that strong so it doesnt extend out too far before the tape becomes flimsy.

Cheaply made, won't last long

I bought this for a reason... the price.In the beginning it was great, I got 3 tapes and they all worked. But after a month or so the first one just stop working. I think that the mechanism broke and thus, the tape wasn't retractable anymore. The other one was working, but after a day or two the case just split apart. The last one kept working for a while, but after one or two months it broke.The Good:-Inexpensive-Good lenghtThe Bad:-Cheap Materials-Bad assembling-Doesn't last longConclusion: If you plan to use for a couple of months or just give it as a toy for kids, this thing is good for you.

Super cheap. I paid almost nothing for them so they should be super cheap, but just wanted to give the heads up to others that these are cheap little tape measures. If that's what you want - great. But if you want something of higher quality, but a more expensive brand.

these took forever to arrive and were not 3 blue ones. it came one red, one yellow, and one blue. i was bummed because i wanted them to match.

I failed to read the description and it clearly says 'Chinese Inches'. I thought an inch was an inch. Anyway, one is in US inches and the other two are definitely not. So two of them are worthless.

Had no trouble getting the product. It arrived on time. The quality of the product was less than desired. The mechanism barely lasts more than once. Then you basically have a cloth tape with a plastic handle that looks like it should retract, but it won't do that anymore. It was so cheap though, I don't think they ripped me off. I should have expected this...

bought 2, one came with faded numbers.Was reading the review before purchasing and notice this came up time to time.

Works fine, but the one we got appeared to be used. Covered in dust, some weird brown marks on the housing. Scuffs marks and scratches. Product is fine, but they probably should not have shipped this one as a new item.

The powerlock doesn't work well, and there is 1/16" at least of slop on the front clip that makes measurements innacurate

If stretched to long lengths it simply folds over, and the stopper that is supposed to keep the tape in place (once the actual tape has been extended) doesn't work well. I was tempted to return this but I couldn't be bothered so I'm simply using it despite this annoyances.

Good tape measure except for the blade lock. The action on the blade lock is very stiff, and the material/shape of the button exacerbates the problem. Would not buy again.

I bought two of these to replace the crappy tape measures that I had. I assumed that it would be of good quality. One of them already won't stay locked after the first time I used it. Won't be buying this again!

Stay away!!!! the measuements are completely off!!!!! i bought something using this measuring tape and i was hopelessly wondering why it wouldnt fit, until i measured the space with a REAL tape measure! Dont waste your time!!!!!

These tape measures looked great, but when they arrived the scale of inches was totally off. Please see the photo. One inch on the tape measure equals 1-5/16 on a standard ruler. (The centimeters side is correct.) The hatch marks on the "inches" side actually measure about 1/8 inch, but unfortunately there are five to the half inch, not four. Too cheap to return; they were mailed all the way from Malaysia.

Don't buy these! What good is a tape measure that does not give you an incorrect measurement. The inches side of this tape measure does not match a standard inch unit - not even close!! (The centimeter side was fine). And when I contacted the seller for a return, I never got a response. Do not buy these!!

I don't know the correct terminology for the units of measurement, but I was assuming that these tapes measured in "American" (imperial?) inches rather than the longer "Chinese" inch. Why did I assume this? Because I purchased it from a US-based merchant and it's labeled as having "inches on one side."Worthless and would end up costing me more to send them back than it will to simply toss them in the trash. Very disappointed with this purchase.

I went to measure the dishwasher to find the center of the front to mount a clean/dirty indicator. I noticed the readings seem to be different than described in the dishwashers owners manual. So I found several of my old steel tapes plus one old dress makers cloth tape & checked these tapes against them. Each one inch on the cloth tape runs 1 5/16" ...that's 5/16" longer than it should be. The first one inch, from 0 to one is 9/16" too long...the rest run the 5/16 over. If your trying to find center, then the proper measurement doesn't matter....just take half. But if your using these to measure for cutting....cloth, wood steel & ect, then your going to be way off to the true measurements.Again except for the first one inch marked on these tapes which measures one & nine-sixteenths in length, each one inch marked thereafter on them run one & five-sixteenths inch....not a true one inch. The MM side seems OK....I just checked 2-3 of them & their close to OK!

Not for use for actual and true measurement purposes. Definitely not for professional use. This is great for a TOY only.

Just went to use them and not all the measurements marks are on the tape. Just noticed it and can't return them because it's too far out

When I tried to mark something at the 10" mark, I noticed that the tape measure is not properly marked. There should be a long line running right between the 1 and the 0. All the other numbers seem to be properly marked. See photo.

Poor quality. It twists and is hard to extend for a long distance. The numbers are too small and difficult to read. The PowerLock does not work at all!!! Very disappointed. Stanley used to make better quality....that is why I purchased this brand.

Stanley quality is no longer what it once was. It will not lock and hold your inside measurement.

"PowerLock" should be called "PoorLock." Stopped working after 5 or 6 uses; nearly cut my finger due to the locking mechanism failing on me during a project.

Terrible recoil and the tape it self broke after 1 week of light use. I bought 3 so we'll see how the rest hold up...
