Perfected the performance of my track lights. A great dimmer for halogen/incandescent lights. This particular model is only for these applications and much appreciated in my case. I have a particular track light that I enjoy but wanted to replace an older Lutron switch running it. It's packed with features from dimming fade in and out settings to letting you perfect the high/low thresholds to saving your favorite presets. I have this installed as part of a 4 gang box all using Lutron Claro hardware. Just a great product.

I saw another review that said they did not work with LED bulbs, That was back in 2011. I can say that they work with mine. I'm running 5 bulbs on one of these. Works beautifully. Saw another review where the switches were breaking from continuous use. Haven't had it long, but it seems sturdy enough. Love the fade on and fade off function. Pleased. Bought mine for about $18, now I see they are $30. Waiting for the price to come down to get a few more.

We recently remodeled our basement and wanted to use Decora style plugs/plates throughout. I've always been a fan of Lutron's dimmers/switches so we primary used those for lights and the Leviton R62-16352-OWS for the outlets, along with the Lutron Claro wall plates.

We've been using this style of Lutron's dimmers for several years and have never had any issues with them. I really like the fade in/fade out when the switch is turned on or off, and the ability to save your "favorite" light level is an added bonus.

The instructions are well written; Even someone with little electrical experience should be able to install this dimmer.

I purchased this switch to replace a round push-in style dimmer which had broken. I received the dimmer and installed it in about 15 minutes as mentioned on the packaging. As I was installing within a 2-gang panel, the included screwless plate required simple removal and placed to the side. In a normal install where you use the plate, this is still required. The screws to attach the switch to the box are included as well as a wire nut for the ground wire. While the ground wire is included, it appears to be loosely attached and may come off if the switch is moved to another location. I would suggest Lutron include a ground screw as is standard with most outlets and switches. Finishing up the install was simple and the completed switch fit neatly inside of a non-Lutron 2-gang face plate.Once installed the dimmer performed as expected providing dimming, time delayed off, 2-click full on, and progressive power off (all with synced LED indicators). While all features work as expected, the press buttons do seem to have some 'play' but they always appear flat at the front. These switches also look great with the Altus SSK-1-WH10 15-Amp-120 Volt/277V Decorative Single Pole Switch, 10-Pack, White (and face plates from same brand) I bought at the same time.Overall definitely worth it any I plan to buy the maestro timer from the same brand.

Who knew installing a dimmer was so easy?? I replaced my old toggle switch for the modern rocker. The switch plate was just barely bigger to cover up the old hole and the flat plate is awesome. My chandelier has xenon bulbs and the dimmer works perfectly without any flickering or buzzing. First time working with electrical but I watched a lot of YouTube videos and used the helpful instructions. I'd say if this is your first time, watch other videos. Don't just rely on the instructions because they don't explain as much as a video can.

These really add a nice touch as replacements for inexpensive little devices that have not changed much in decades. Everyone in the house likes the fade on, delayed and fading off, and the ability to use a very dim light in common hallways, stairs, etc. I also installed three-way versions in a couple of places in the house, and those also work great. These are pricey, but they work great.

I prefer this model of dimmer, as you can lock in the brightness *before* turning on the light. Very handy if you don't want to go from a dark room to being blinded by bright light. We have this installed in our dining room for a ceiling fixture. At very low settings, the lights are subject to flicker as other electric devices kick on and off (especially the iron or dishwasher), but I suspect that is more a limitation of the wiring/bulbs than the switch. As with any dimmer, the box is a little bulky, and requires care when installing... but it all went very smoothly. Mine is installed in a double switch box, and fit in just fine.

I have a house full of the Lutron Skylark Slider dimmer with a small on/off rocker. I found that in my bathroom next to my kitchen, my house guests were having difficulties turning on the lights. This solved the issue of simple to turn on yet provides the dimming I was looking for. Yes, you need good wire management behind the switch because this is deep, but if you keep your lengths right and manage wire nuts then you won't have any issues. Don't try to use this in a short-depth box as it just will not fit.

This dimmer comes complete with face plate and wires ready for installation. This dimmer works perfectly and is very well designed. The installation is easy and the face plate comes off easily so you can mount it in a two or three switch arrangement. I was also replacing a two switch configuration and the other light just need a normal switch. The dimmer matches the other switch but has the advantage of dimming the lights. It works perfectly with dim-able led lights which can get extremely bright with a bank of eight lights. I like it not so bright but my wife likes it with full brightness; Now each of us has the perfect amount of lighting. A nice touch is the built in night light making it very easy to find the switch in total darkness. This is a perfect dimmer that is not cheap but worth it.

Buttons are a bit annoying to interact with due to the fact that they aren't so easy to click as their size suggests. But aside from the small nuisance most people won't pay attention to, this is a great looking and feature filled switch. Download the full manual from Google and see what this switch can really do because the booklet included doesn't list all the features.

I've had one of these in place for the last 15 years or so, and the switch finally broke recently. I'll assume this to be as reliable & robust as the others, though you never know & i'd hate to wait 15 years to post a review. Installation was (mostly) easy. The only complication was the faceplate. This is the first time I'd used these "Maestro" faceplates with the hidden mounting screws, and I couldn't initially figure out how to get the decorative plate off out of fear of breaking it. I spent a few minutes tugging & peering into the gap between them hoping to find the secret, but it turns out there's no real trick: the plate is held on with a series of tabs near the switch area, & you just have to insert a small screwdriver in between the 2 plates there & carefully twist. Unfortunately, the installation instructions cover every possible installation variation but fail to mention the basic "how to remove the faceplate without breaking your $30 switch".Looks great, works just as expected. The only hiccup was down to my lack of experience & Lutron's assumption that everybody just knows how these plates are snapped together.

Lutron Maestro switches to me represent almost perfection in form and function. They replace regular dimmer switches, and introduce an almost perfect balance of usability (you can always tell whether its on or off, and what setting its at on or off) and looks. And that's not all, they're programmable for how quickly they fade, and what level they switch on to. They look very elegant and modern with square lines and subtly curved corners, and are available in an almost endless array of colors and situation options (single pole, dual pole, magnetic lighting, etc.)I only take a star off because I've had two different ones go bad on me over one year - in one the rocker switch got stuck in the on position, and another just blew some internal circuit. They're expensive to replace which makes me feel grouchy. However, I wouldn't buy anything else, which is a testament to their design/quality.

I have mixed feelings about the 4 star rating I gave this item. I originally purchased it to dim the lights of my dining room globe light but it did not seem to like it. The globe light immediately began buzzing with a high buzz at low lighting and faint buzzing at maximum. The next day the globe light bulb went out and I had to buy a second one. I thought about returning the item but instead decided to use it in our theater room which has spot track lighting. There it worked like a charm with no issues so we are keeping it.

I have a bunch of these installed in my house and I like how they function and how well they work. I have them wired as two way and three way switches/dimmers and they work very well in that configuration. I also have the infrared wireless versions and those work very well, also. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because I've had two break after about a year or two of use in my bathroom (highest use in the house) and replaced them with the same both times. All the others in the house have never had a problem. Overall I like them a lot and will continue to use them.

This will be the 5th Lutron dimmer I've put in the house, I have 3 of the Maestro's with IR remote and two of these. Installation was as simple as installing a standard single pole switch.My only complaint that was strong enough for my to drop a star was that finding the right color for these is incredibly difficult. Some of the Lutron switches have color options on the product page, most don't so you have to plod through page after page to find what you're looking for.

Price was great. It's supposed to be illuminated, but the plastic in the paddle appears to be too thick for the neon backlight to shine through -- either that, or the neon backlight is way too dim. Where I'm using it, not having illumination doesn't really matter, so no harm / no foul.

Works fine. The slide is rather small. I also installed this and after my simple home improvement project was done in walked the woman of the house. She said it felt cheap when you flipped it on and off. Overall a solid product but it does feel a tad flimsy or cheap.

Excellent item, solidly made and good instructions but it did not allow maximum output of the light, dimmed it to about 85% of its max.

This light switch + dimmer works great in my house with my hue bulbs. Just make sure you purchase bulbs that work with a dimmer. The product is made pretty well. It's plastic so it's as sturdy as I would expect. I haven't had any issues with the install or use of this and it has a thing low profile look.

Works fine and easy to install. However, this is a replacement of the same model/design for another unit from about 15 years ago and the material used on the new unit is definitely not as good as the old unit. The plastic used is much thiner now compare to the old unit.

Probably works like it should BUT item description is misleading. In one section it says this works with LEDs, but then in another says it is not for LEDs.Do not buy for LEDs. You must purchase the MACL-153M-WH instead regardless of whether you need single or multi-pole.Now I'm stuck with the wrong $26 switch.

FYI, this is NOT compatible with Lithonia Acutiy brand LK4G2 fixtures. It is on their product spec sheet as being compatible but it is not. Lutron changed the spec and it no longer works properly with the Lithonia recessed fixture. Lithonia confirmed this information.

I changed my bulbs for led ones and it leaves one on. It's really low lighting, kind of like a night light. It's not to terrible bc we do use it as a night light but I would like it much better if it turned the lights off completely.

tried to put it in my foyer overhead but it doesn't work with my lighting kit. not sure why but it barely turns on then resets over and over. probably the lighting kit. not sure. put it in another room and it works fine.

This switch will not work on LED lights under 40 watts....Most LED light fixtures for the kitchen are around 24 watts.Must use a sliding dimmer switchI'm sure this switch is great with Incandescence lights or halogens

Nice product. Doesn't get full stars because you cant set a permanent light level, it only remembers the last setting. Also, VERY awkward in my guest bathroom as guests can't figure out to push rather than flip a switch. Maybe that says says something about my guests ;)the gradual on and off dimming is very nice

Love the look and feel, the wide and low profile. Hate the nightlight, keeps me awake at night.

Fixture functions well. Does have an orange light that is noticeable at night. Not entirely bad as it helps visitors locate the light in the dark. I wasn't aware of this feature before buying so I was surprised by it. There is also a faint buzzing noise if you put your ear close to the switch. Not noticeable otherwise

It works with LED lights however when the dimmer is all the way down the LEDs turn off. The back light on the switch is a very useful feature. You do not have to use the included back plate as it will fit perfectly under a regular plate in case you have 2 light switches next to one another.

Description says '....Uses Standard 3-way Wiring ...' but it's for single pole single throw only (2 way). I cannot use this for my 3-way wired lights. Luckily I can use it somewhere else in the house.

I have many of these in my house. Eventually the paddle switch pivot fails, requiring replacement. They are tough to replace because they barely fit in a standard switch box.

Lutron dimmers are great dimmers. This model thought has a mechanical flaw. The lil plastic piece under the outer button, that presses the on/off button on the circuit board is very thin and prone to breakage, I have these dimmers all over my house and have never had the electronics fail however, ALL have had mechanical failures as described. The failures outlast the warranty period so you still end up buying a new dimmer.For this reason I give it only two stars.

My LEDs would not go all the way off. Contacted Lutron, who admitted the switch does not work with all LEDs - but also would not tell me which ones it does work with. After buying several different bulbs, settled with ones that flicker, but at least they go off. They need to perfect the product before selling it...

I ordered 2 of these programmable dimmer switches with adjustable fade. This switch is supposed to be programmable with a number of functions that can be adjusted, including fade on & fade off. One of the 2 switches fades off just fine, but despite trying to program it multiple times, was unable to get it to fade on. The second switch wouldn't turn off at all. My electrician contacted Lutron & was told how to program it. When he was able to come back, he tried again to reprogram it, but it still wouldn't work & I had to run over to Lowe's to pick up a plain LED/CFL dimmer switch. Unfortunately, too much time had elapsed since I originally purchased the switches & I was unable to return them. I do not recommend these switches that offer programmability - stick with something more manual.

Brought 3 of this dimmer switch, 2 of the them is working ok but one of them is hot to touch after 30 mins if I set to half the dimming level for my bath room fixture.It's rated 600w and my fixture is less than 400w, no sure if it's dangerous or not but I'm going to switch it out this weekend. Not using the dimming seems to work fine. The other 2 with 100w fixtures seems to operating without any overhead issue.

This item was purchased for my LED lamps. This will not work properly with LED lights. The light will not turn off but will glow when shut off.

These are really nice dimmers and I love the way they fade the light up and down. Unfortunately, the description fails to tell you that they are NOT compatible with modern CFL and LED light bulbs. These dimmers only work with incandescent bulbs. I installed two and bought LED bulbs before discovering the incompatibility. I bought replacements at the hardware store. Amazon got the "defective" switches back.

Unlike what the photo implies, there's a logo on this item at the bottom left of the switch. The photo of this item has a small Photoshopped smudge on it in. Noticed after receiving the item and coming back to recheck the image. Misleading, you can clearly see that there's no logo and after a closer look, see that the photo's been tampered with to remove it.

Dims fine, however this is much wider than most dimmer so you cannot install 2 of these in the same gang with 2 or more. Disappointed.

Great light switch but couldn't use it where I intended to use it within a double gang box. This can only be used in a single gang box as the cover plate has no screws and snaps on. Nice clean look but didn't work for our intended purpose. Oh well, win some lose some.

These work well, but have a nasty habit of blowing out if a bulb blows and causes a momentary surge. There is a Murpy's Law stating that the $50 component will blow out protecting the 60 cent fuse. Life imitates art. I have corresponded with Lutron about this problem and they say it is a design feature.

In installed 3 of these and they make my CFL tubes and CFL bulbs buzz even at 100%. I'm taking them out until I have LED dimmable lights.

i bought 3 and one was defective.

I received mine in very bad condition all scratch up. It looks very cheaply made and it doesnt function all the time like its supposed to.

I do not write a lot of reviews about products because most of the products that I purchase from amazon work great. But this switch did not work at all. I installed the switch correctly and it just didn't work correctly on my LED light bulbs. The switch was able to turn on correctly, but the big middle switch and the switch on the right would not turn the lights off. There is a little pull out thingy on the button of the switch that I had to pull out in order to get the lights to turn off. That small little bottom pull out thing is very hard to pull out and I would hope that is not the design of the switch (to pull out that thing each time). I wasted $30 on this thing. I tried emailing custom service and they emailed me back right away, stating that I had to email a different department. I emailed the service/technical department and never heard back.Now I was not about to give up so I purchased yet another Lutron product "Lutron Diva 150-Watt 3-Way Single Pole White Indoor Slide Dimmer" from Lowes and that worked GREAT. I would advise people NOT to buy this product as it is junk and Lutron's customer service is also junk. If you have LED lights, use the other Lutron product that gave me success.

This item should have no stars. It was defective. To reach that conclusion I had to have an electrician examine and test it which actually cost more than the item.

but these switches do not work with led or cf lights so why bother? incandescent or halogen are the only thing they work on. threw this is the trash as I'm way over my 30 days to return it. would be nice if they told you this up front. come on this is really basic stuff for online purchasing. information is key and sorely lacking.

Replaced the ones that died after 9 months of use. These work, for how long who knows. These are a different design.

Don't buy if using LED, I lost $190 on these. Description does not call out that LED is not compatable. By the time I went to return I had passed the 30 day mark.

I bought 5 of these and all 5 popped after a few days. Not a good product at all.
