Great windows gamepad
May 17, 2017
I had wanted a wireless controller and ended up getting a BT one that didn't work at all. So a few months went by with swapping my xbox 360 controller with my PC and Xbox and got fed up. I've always had good luck with logitech hardware and decided to go with this model.

It works perfect. I do wish it was rechargeable, but that's a small inconvenience. I've used it in emulation, native windows games and in the Mac end. (I dual boot win 10 and Mac but the win 10 is for the gaming). And it just works. The controls are smooth. The controller is a hint heavy. But that is actually a good thing. It's not a flimsy piece of plastic. Very comfortable in the hand, and weighted well. All the weight is in the center, giving you a better grip and balance. Wish it was bluetooth so I didn't have to worry about the dongle. I lose them like crazy. But definitely a good device

The F710 provides an affordable wireless option for PC gaming. My favorite aspect about it's wireless function is that it comes with a very small low profile wireless dongle that can be easily left installed in a laptop that's placed in it's bag. Other options, such as USB converters for Xbox 360 or Xbox One tend to be a much larger set up and are less appealing for use with a laptop. While they might support multiple controllers, for laptop gaming this isn't really as much of a selling point.

For a significantly lower price you get a wireless game pad that's easier to use with a mobile set up. That being said, there is no power switch on the controller itself. It turns on when the buttons are pressed and off after it's left inactive for enough time. So for transporting in a bag the batteries need to be removed.
Great product, but be warned.

This game controller is great to have, and even games that don't conventionally allow you to use a game controller still understand the buttons on this controllers. I did have a frustrating time setting it up, the installer on the logitech support website doesn't work on my computer (I'm using windows 7). You have to google it and research that you have to shoot hoops to get this to work. I'm still happy with my purchase, I just hope that logitech figures out a seamless way to install the drivers to this controller without having to go through the trouble of additional research and directions to follow.
Works wonderfully

I very rarely have any problems with Logitech products. This gamepad works great, there's no set up or installation, it's truly a plug and play controller. It's slightly more pricey than some others I've seen, but I'd rather pay a little extra for a controller that's worth the money than waste dollars on cheaper controllers that either break after a short while or don't work at all.
Logitech F710 - Steam Big Picture Controller Option
September 26, 2013
Quick review of the Logitech F710 Wireless Gamepad. I got this to use on a Windows7 PC with Steam (digital game distribution/library software) and their "Big-Picture" mode that can be used to play games on a TV or away from a tradition mouse/keyboard. Windows7 found the driver and installed it quickly with no fuss. Games detect this as a Xbox360 controller(tested with Borderlands2, Dead Island, Need for Speed and Blur), while the style is closer to a Playstation controller, the X Y A B buttons are closer to an Xbox controller and it works great in that regard(no extra setup in game needed).

Like:
-Back of controller had a nice smooth/soft feel plastic
-Buttons and Sticks have nice weight/resistance
-Windows7 Found the drivers and installed with no fuss, ready to play quickly
-Comes with name-brand batteries (2x AA) already installed
-Comes with USB extension cable to locate wireless receiver away from computer (I did not need to do this however).
-Games recognize it as an XBOX360 Controller, no setup/binding needed
-I have used it with a range from 3-6 feet with no issues
-Sticks have a textured rubber on the top that is really nice, feels great and fingers don't slip off.

Dislike:
-The buttons have a good feel but sound very plastic (loud click-clack sounds when playing)
-Package (plastic clamshell) is easier to open than some, but still a pain and easily cuts your fingers on the edges
-Has an 8-way dpad but while UP-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT work great and have a nice feel, NW/NE and SW/SE directions take some work to get right and have it actually register...almost feels like it is only supposed to be a 4-way dpad (not a big deal for me as my games mostly use the sticks).

This was a good choice. It does everything I'd like, plus a couple other things I never thought to look for. You can switch the functionality of the direction pad and the left stick, which is nice. There'a some sort of switch in the back which converts it to a different input scheme. I'm not really sure what the alternate mode is for, because the default mode has always worked perfectly for me. The only reason I don't give it the full 5/5 is because sometimes it needs to be turned off and then on again to get the PC to recognize it, and sometimes that doesn't work temporarily for unknown reasons.
A very capable rumble and wireless gamepad
February 20, 2016
I have been using a controller from my PS4, which has mostly worked fine. Two major problems I had was that it seems a lot of game designers for PC, use the Xbox button layout and color, so I would have to keep looking to see what I should be pushing. Second, being there is no wireless receiver, I have to keep the joystick plugged in, which limits your distance from the computer and since the connection is loose can come unplugged from the joystick.
So I looked for a comparable game pad that wasn't too expensive. There are quite a few and you can go cheaper but I have used many Logitech products in my life and enjoy their quality and the reviews were mostly positive.

The gamepad has a good weight to it and certain aspects have a good feel. The grip coating underneath feels smooth yet gripping. The thumbsticks look very similar to a PS4 thumbstick though the movement seems a little more loose that a PS4 controller.
The buttons on the right are modeled after an Xbox controller scheme so button mappings shown in games match up exactly in those games.
The gamepad looks like you took prominent features from both PS4 and Xbox controllers and put them together.
The gamepad also has a rumble feature you can turn off or on, this is nice if you want it and that you can turn it off to save on battery usage is also nice.
The gamepad uses 2 AA batteries, which is nice in some ways. Easily replaceable but a continuing cost, at least you do not have to remember to put it on a charger or cord. Logitech also was generous enough to include Duracell batteries instead of a cheaper generic brand.
For connectivity, the gamepad comes with a standard small Logitech usb transponder just like their mice and keyboards do. I did wind up going to their page and downloading drivers to get the gamepad working on all games, some just didn't want to recognize it.

The negatives I would say about the stick are few but may be big depending on how you feel about them. First, the handles seem a little on the short side. To me its like a lot of compact pistols where your pinky hangs off the end, same here. It just does not feel like you have a good firm grip, you don't feel like you are going to drop it, you just don't quite feel comfortable. Maybe it's just me. If you are close to a computer store that has products on display and this one is, I would suggest picking it up and holding it to see what you think.
Second, The thumbsticks have a thinner clackety kind of sound too them, which I don't notice as much with the PS4 controllers. Upon hearing me use the F710 for the first time, my wife asked if something was wrong with it. Though a little noisy and a little on the looser side, it doesnt seem to affect any game play. I notice the noise more since she pointed it out.

Overall I like the F710, I think for the most part you will be happy with it. There are many many products out there, especially in a cheaper bracket but you will get what you pay for. I highly suggest reading reviews on them and if you can put your hands on them, do so before buying.
Oh Logitech, you're like an adorable kitten that destroys everything.
July 17, 2015
The functionality of this controller is fantastic and it serves its purpose with strong compatibility, even with Early-Access games on Steam (Next Car Game: Wreckfest & Spintires, etc..). When other people are complaining of compatibility issues with their XBox controllers, the F710 is going strong with no problems and customization.
I have had my F710 for two years and and the only aesthetic issues are the mat finish substantially peeled off and a smooth spot on the left axis stick began to form. Battery life is decent, about 1-2 months with incidental use (2-3 hours sessions). The main problem I have with this controller is the springs on the triggers and sticks are way too stiff. I really wish the springs were softer because they punish my index and thumb fingers, even with light use.

One lucky break from Logitech, and maybe this was a fluke, my F710 recently began to have problems with the right trigger. The sensor began to malfunction and only register minimal pressure. I Google'd the problem and found a few similar complaints, but no solutions. I tried calibrating and troubleshooting and eventually tried the controller on another computer, in which the problem was still there. I contacted Logitech support via their website. I created an account and registered the product, also uploaded a .pdf of my Amazon invoice on the order. Support took a few days to respond, but after some silly "try calibrating it" troubleshooting, they agreed to replace it under warranty, except I started receiving messages from them saying "We received your item under warranty and will be shipping your replacement soon" without me shipping my broken F710 to them first. Sure enough, Logitech sent a new one to me via UPS Ground a week later. No requesting the old one back, no proof it was even broke or disposing of it. Thanks for believing in me Logitech! err uh not believing in your product... Hey, I'm not complaining, but sending out a free controller without requesting my old one first or even in return sort of sends a message of "These are so cheap we don't care to recycle them into referbs that many people prefer to buy"
Got this right when it came out and still working and loving it.
August 31, 2014
I got this when it came out. I've been using it play on my PC over these 3+ years and I had no issues with it. I started using it on Windows 7, then 8, 8.1, including my Surface RT, Surface 2 and Pro 3. No issues so far. Would have given it 5, but I do find it heavy and fat, compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers.

I recently got an Xbox 360 for PC and that is now my main gamepad on the PC, but I still use this for my Surface since the receiver is so small and I just leave it in my Surface's USB port instead of the long cable and receiver for the Xbox 360.

I'm a developer and I've even used it to write some games for the PC and it is recognized as an Xbox 360 controller when in XInput mode so I can be sure when I use it for testing that what I code will work with the Xbox 360 controller and all gamepads that emulate the same driver.

A lot of people are confused by the X/D switch. I was too one of those when I got it, especially when I was using Windows 7, changing the switch would make it stop detecting the gamepad, and I believe that is what a lot of people with the bad comments are experiencing.

Just use the XInput mode which is the one that emulates a 360 controller, unless you want to use Logitech's software to program it with macros, then you need to use the DirectInput mode, which on Windows 8.1 I have no issues switching in between, but I remember it being a pain on Windows 7.
Nice wireless controller that's compatible with many devices
August 14, 2014
I have several devices capable of working with wireless USB controllers and wanted to pick one up. After doing a lot of research, I settled on the F710. I picked this controller because it has great compatibility with the OUYA as well as computers and a few other devices and the Logitech button the device perfectly mimics the OUYA button on the OUYA controller.

First off, this is a solidly built controller. It feels good in your hands from the perspective of its build quality, but it's not really shaped for a comfortable fit, the curves on the upper left and upper right corners don't feel very natural. The buttons are responsive, the analog sticks are very nice (and feature clickable L3 and R3 functions) and the shoulder buttons are adequate.

The controller also features a rumble function and it's got a very strong motor compared to other, cheaper controllers I've tried. It also has a switch on its back to change from xinput to direct input which is useful for those who intend to use this device with Windows PC games.

The digital pad is just so-so and is the weakest part of the device. It's too hard and "clicky." If Logitech had used softer plastic and given it a little more play it would have been fine. It's still usable and you won't have any issues with diagonals or anything like that, but it feels considerably cheap compared to the rest of the controller.

As for performance, the controller has worked great with everything I've tested it on so far. On the OUYA, it's almost a perfect replacement for the official controller. I say almost because it lacks a mouse pad and there are a few games and apps that don't recognize input from the controller, but they are an extremely small minority. I will specifically mention that XBMC in particular will not recognize input from this. For most of the games (and all of the emulators) I've tried, the F710 has worked like a charm.

With xinput and direct input support for PCs, I've had no major issues with the majority of PC games I've tried it with either. No special drivers were required, it just worked.

Before I purchased this I read about some issues with the controller not working well or lagging with distance from the receiver. The unit does include an extension cable, but I'm happy to report I haven't had any need of it. Primarily I use this device roughly ten feet from where it's plugged in. I haven't tried going beyond that, but I haven't had any major input or lag problems to report.

Battery life is excellent. It includes two real name brand AA batteries and mine last for weeks of extensive use. Since then I've been using a set of rechargeable AAs I have and they've been excellent as well.

I've been very pleased overall with this controller. The only things really keeping it from a perfect score are the shape of the unit itself and the disappointing dpad. On the PC side you may have to do some minor fiddling with it to get it set up the way you want (primarily with direct input apps) but that's the nature of the beast. This is a solid controller and while it isn't quite worth the original price, at $30-$35 it's definitely not a bad buy and comes recommended.

Great balance and feel. Best in a low RF environment.
May 5, 2017
Solid and comfortable. Would be perfect for most gamers. Unfortunately, there was too much RF interference in my city apartment and commands got dropped once every ~10-15 minutes... just enough to ruin my play experience.

I ended up getting the Logitech F310 (the wired version) and am happy, but would love to not have to coil the wire when I tidy up my living room.

This should be ideal for a quieter RF environment. The weight and balance of this are superior to the F310.
It works as a controller but sadly it doesn't at the sametime
March 16, 2016
I have been using this controller for around 4 months as my main way to control an Gaming HTPC I built recently, it boots directly on Steam Big Picture so I'm able to boot up any game on your library without even using a mouse or keyboard and even access certain functions so I thought a wireless controller like this would have been the perfect solution for my current setup, after all I have been gaming mainly on consoles for decades, sadly it isn't an experience as smooth as it should be.

I'm basing this reviews from my 4 months of use playing through following games to completion with only few exceptions: Valkyria Chronicles, Fallout 4, Dishonored, Saint Rows 4, Lethal League, Spelunky, Sonic Generations, Undertale, Freedom Planet, Stardew Valley, One Piece Pirrate Warriors 3, Borderlands The Pre-Sequel and other games.

Overview/Pros:
As a normal controller, it just works completely works, the D-pad feels great to play 2D games like Freedom Planet, Undertale and Spelunky I used mainly the D-pad to play all this games and had no issues with it and its current layout. There's also a mode button that swaps the Left Stick and D-pad functionality, this way you can use it with games with no controller layout options, its an easy turn around that you have access through at any point of the game so you can swap at any time. Those that wished for a PS3 controller with a bit more of weight and size, longer battery life, and actualy good triggers will feel extremely happy with this controller, its only short coming in my personal opinion its the bumpers that feel extremely stiff, feels as stiff as if they were the RS(R3) and LS(L3) buttons that are integrated on the sticks. Its powered by 2 Double A Batteries and they are include and I haven't even replaced them after 4 months of play and comes with a USB extender and a small dongle for it to connect to your PC and has a switch to change it from Dinput to Xinput(Xbox 360 controller) modes and you can turn off vibration at any time with the press off a button and delay isn't noticeable.

The shortcomings:
Besides the Right and Left Bumpers feeling too stiff for my taste. The installation process sadly its not just plug and play if you're currently using Windows 10, I had to go through a guide to just use the controller, assigning drivers and even downloading Microsoft drivers in some cases, etc... Basic things that a person that knows its ways through tech can easily go through but can't say the same for the rest. The range even using the USB extender its just horrible, from the USB dongle to the controller, there's around 6 feet and the controller would disconnect randomly even thought the controller and the dongle are around the same height the way I set it up. Also, Its IMPOSSIBLE to reprogram home button to anything, so Windows 10 and 8.1 users won't be able to access Steam Big Picture options while playing, instead due to this you are going to be greeted by Xbox DVR features, wished Logitech would have given us a work around for this.

Side notes:
-Vibration will automaticaly turn off when your batteries are running low on energy, something to keep on mind, this is not even explained on the manual.
-Those having other 2.4 GHz wireless devices, your range and disconnection issues should be even worse or unstable and this is bound to happen if you get a F710 controller for multiplayer, because you're going to need to use 2 separate dongles.
-You can't customize the controls while on Xinput mode with the Logitech Profiller only on Dinput.

My Recommendation:
If you're looking for a budget priced controller to play from your basic PC desk setup and don't mind taking extra steps to set it up, look no more and just get this controller, if you have an HTPC and want to control your PC from a distance with Steam Big Picture or want to setup multiple controllers for multiplayer or don't want to deal with the setup process, just get an Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller with an adapter, I think for the long run its seems to be a more reliable option, this is not the permanent solution for you.
Good controller, good signal, not much help when things go wrong.
June 15, 2015
I was really disappointed that Logitech doesn't support it's own Unifying tech on any of it's game controllers. Other than that, this one is okay. It did cause me a lot of grief one day when I'd apparently hit a button that changed it's entire mode of operation. I thought the PC was misrepresenting it, and reinstalled everything a couple of times before I figured it out. There's no indicator of what mode it's in, the game just re-assigned all the buttons for the mode, which totally messed me up. But when I got frustrated to the point of just hitting every button, I found it changed modes back. Further exploration along that line revealed to me that the bottom-left in the four in the middle change it from normal mode to x-box mode. Of course, I found that AFTER I knew what the problem was. Logitech help was no help, like usual
Well made, poor support
January 24, 2015
I purchased this to work with my MSI GT70 gaming laptop which is a 2014 model. There are 3 things I will talk about physical quality, responsiveness and system compatibility/support.

1: The build quality on this controller is what I expect from Logitech, I have always liked their products. I have had 2 of their 310 corded gamepads which work well but the cords always wear out over time. This gamepad is $20 more as it is a wireless controller (2GHZ) it feels heavier than the wired parts with the same tactile rubberized surfaces in the right places (palms of your hands and thumbsticks.) so the fit and finish on this controller is very solid and it is comfortable to hold for long periods of time. +

2: Responsiveness is fairly accurate with this device however it is not a plug and play device like the corded versions you have to do some setup. If the setup is not done properly it will lag by a couple seconds and be generally terrible to use so this would earn a good if setup right and a bad if you just expect to plug it in and have it work. +/-

3: Compatibility and support, here is the big downfall of this device. My computer is new but not completely new so you would think that there would be decent support through Logitech for drivers I am running in windows 8 and it is not really supported by the Logitech drivers which only go up to windows 7. Shame on you Logitech! I had to go online and find a video on how to make it work, fortunately if you have the first version of windows 8 there is an xbox360 driver that you can load that comes with the OS that this gamepad will respond well to, it is not easy to find though. Another big problem I ran into was that windows did an automatic update on me and it threw out the first version driver when it updated the operating system and I had to wipe the entire system and reinstall my factory configuration. This happened twice then I had to set my computer to not update itself so it would not throw out my original gamepad driver when it auto updates. I am disappointed in Logitech for this, I should not have to alter my settings on my windows to accommodate the gamepad because Logitech does not offer a valid driver for it. Now I will give it credit over the steel series pad that I purchased and wound up throwing out because not only did it not provide drivers it did not work with any that were already on my computer. So this is not good.-

So my overall thoughts on this pad are that it is more likely to be compatible than some others out there but it is not very well supported and if you can get it to work it may not always work well if you let your computer update its operating system. If you set it up right though it works well and is wireless.
Fantastic....in theory.
September 3, 2013
I'm a huge PC gamer, and honestly I was expecting more for this. When it works, it's a great controller. But when it doesn't it's very irritating.

The first thing is that this has a good initial feel (read on for why I say initial). I also like how integrated batteries are into the controller which is fantastic. Microsoft's Xbox One controller will actually have the same layout, eliminating that battery pack from their existing 360 model. Aesthetically speaking, it's pretty nice overall. Feel like a good hybrid between the Dual Shock and Xbox 360 controllers. The overall design of the colored buttons is also something the Xbox One controller will have and it looks really homey.

Before buying this I had seen a number of other reviews for it that mentioned its limited range. I wasn't too concerned because I would only be playing up to 3 or 4 feet away from the USB receiver. However, it didn't take very long for me to see that even at that range buttons and sticks were still not functioning all the time. The remedy to this was the receiver's included extender which is about 3 or 4 feet long as well, so it's eliminated the dropped signals completely while still retaining wireless-ish functionality. Personally I'm not too bothered by the extender, but I mean I did pay for a wireless controller; not a wireless controller with a caveat.

The other thing is this thing's swappable input modes. Swapping from XInput to Direct Input is great and works fluidly. However, unless I'm emulating SNES games (which will screw up on XInput but works great on Direct), there's absolutely no use to Direct because it doesn't work! Direct is supposed to be great for games that don't have controller support or aren't part of an emulator with controller support, but the thing is the logitech system profiler which is the only thing that lets you configure the Direct Input for games, doesn't detect my controller at all! I've tried everything and every game with controller support detects it, except for the LSP. Meaning some of my games have no hope of any controller support whatsoever. Though to be honest, the only game I can think of that I'd like to have controller support in is Minecraft.

The other issue is the feeling. It's comfortable for the first hour or so, but eventually it just starts to feel uncomfortable to hold. It's weird, and idk what the issue is, but it's this strange discomfort. I used to play for hours on DS2&3 and on the Xbox 360 controller without discomfort but this one is just annoying after a while.

Overall if you need a new controller, this probably isn't the place to look. Go get an Xbox One controller when it's a available for PC.

Seriously, spend the extra 10 or so bucks for an Xbox One Controller. When it works, it'll do its job decently well, but I've had issues where my inputs freeze for a few seconds or the buttons remap to stupid keys on the keyboard (i.e. the start button occasionally maps to the Escape key while in X-Input mode). In other words, when it doesn't work properly, it really really sucks. I love my Logitech M510 mouse, but let's be honest, mice and keyboards are the only things that Logitech can do well. There are also moments when the controller just feels cheap, and you feel the creaking of the buttons while playing something like Super Mario, making for a fairly unpleasant gaming experience. The $50 price tag for a controller of this quality is really rather steep.
Driver and Connection issues.
June 14, 2017
While it feels good in my hands, everything seems positioned well and the hardware seems to made of quality product, the software side of the device is utter crap. I have Windows 10 and the drivers are REAL bad! The device is rarely recognized, Win10 does not seem to have a driver of it, so one has to manually install drivers form other Logitech products, or XBox 360 drivers, to get it to work. The software that comes with it is alright, but it is lame that they've had this product out for how long now and it is not part of their unified software. It also seems to drop connection every once in awhile, but I don't know if it is the lousy drivers or the device itself.

If their drivers were at least good, I would give this 4 out of 5 stars, I'd even give them 5 if they made it part of their unified software. But until then, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone for any reason other than to show the why they should use something else. If they come out with a decent driver I will change my review but I've owned this pair for how many years and they've not budged a bit on them, so I highly doubt that this is going to happen.
An excellent controller marred by mechanical failures
March 10, 2016
Great size, feels good in the hand, comfortable rubber grips, great responsiveness, perfect resistance and pop-back on the buttons, works with nearly everything. So why two star? Mechanical failures. The triggers are prone to going out and either flickering input, dropping a held press, or simply not registering. This happened on my first, which also went spotty on the D-pad so I had it replaced. The second developed trigger problems too, so I had THAT one replaced. I'm on #3 now, which has also begun to fail but now I'm past warranty. To their credit Logitech support has been great about replacing the gamepads, but the triggers just keep failing. When I get around to shopping for a replacement, I guarantee it will not be a Logitech pad.
This product line is flat-out defective, which is a real shame because when it works, it works beautifully. It just don't always work.
Would be 5-stars if not for logitech drivers and failure on restart.
January 10, 2015
Bought this because I got a new TV, and wanted to start using Steam Big Picture Mode with certain game genres (JRPGs especially).

Pros: The dual output selection makes it a very versatile controller, weight of the controller is good for most users, works well with any program I have used it with (so far FF games and SP: SoT). Comes with a USB extension cord, to allow for better location of usb reciever.

Cons: The wireless range is short and very finicky with line of sight (I.E. if you are laying down and you turn away from the the receiver, your controller will either become very laggy or cease to function). The MAJOR con is that when your computer power cycles (i.e. restart your computer) the controller ceases to function at all, and the reconnect tool provided on Logitech's website only reconnects the D output, and ceases to function if you switch to X (and switching back, D no longer functions). You must uninstall the drivers restart your computer, and let the computer re-install the drivers, Every Single Time You Restart. Basically every time you restart your computer, you need to have the computer think that its the first time you plug in the device.

Logitech just doesn't care enough to fix the drivers, they will simply tell you to use X-Box drivers and call it a day.

Running Windows 8.1
Signal Cuts out constantly
December 23, 2013
I'll start by saying that I have only been using this product with the USB adapter directly into my adapter. I did not use the included USB extension cable as I purchased this product specifically for the form factor of the small adapter. I have read that the product works flawless when using the added extension cord however it should work flawless as is as well in my opinion.

As for the product, when it works, it is great. I have no complaints on the build quality, button layout, or battery life. Sadly, the signal between the controller and the adapter cut out about every 10 minutes or so. From there I shake the controller and it seems to eventually get things working again for another 10 minutes. Problem of course is that in the middle of a game, it's not okay to have the controller stop responding. I find myself hitting pause a lot.

For those wondering my setup. I am using it plugged directly into my laptop. My laptop sits within two feet of me when playing, so I am by no means pushing the limits of the range.

I wanted to like this product a lot, it would have been perfect if it worked great without using the extender. I used this almost daily, with much frustration, until yesterday when I finally just gave up.

I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy.
May 17, 2017
Seemed promising initially. I enjoy Logitech products. It has a sturdy, solid-feeling build. It's comfortable in the hands. However:

-Using the direct input setting just messes up all the inputs

-Battery tray doesn't hold the batteries properly, so they rattle around

-Analog sticks and triggers are ridiculously stiff and have massive deadzones, making subtle analog inputs physically exhausting

-Inputs randomly stick or fail to register altogether. I suspected it was because of the placement of the USB connector, but it still had these problems when I hooked it up to the extension cable it came with and placed it below my monitor

Seriously, I have a five-year-old Xbox 360 controller held together with duct tape that works better than this thing. For the sake of your sanity, look elsewhere for a controller for your PC.
Works when it wants to

I hate giving 1 star ratings on things that work but this is ridiculous. Playing GTA V Online and the controller loses connection nonstop! It also makes it so I cannot move forward while using left analog stick. I wanted to upgrade to something better than my Logitech 310 but looks like the older controller is better than this garbage. Save yourself some trouble and buy a different controller. This is pathetic. On a side not I just got this in last night and it was giving me issues alllll night long.
Logitech advertises software for windows 10, but it does ...

Logitech advertises software for windows 10, but it does not work. After researching the problem I found out everybody with windows 10 is having problems and Logitech is lying about it. Contacting Logitech gives you a canned excuse and they blame it on your computer, not their software.
This product is a waste of time

Could not get the device to consistently connect even from 1 foot away. The software included used for mapping was quite cumbersome and un-intuitive. Took hours just to map my controller between having to connect it and dealing with the software. When it did connect, it felt laggy and almost seemed to stall my system. I have a 10 year old wired NYKO controller that still works fine and I am able to map within 10 minutes. You would think that logitech would be able to out perform a company like that especially with a product that is much newer. Don't waste your money on this headache.
Unfortunate Purchase
July 2, 2014
After around a year of use, I can no longer recommend this controller. The connection between the dongle and the controller is sketch and requires a clear path. Even when using the included extender for the dongle I have been unable to get a secure connection.

I had hoped that the very stiff, hard to compress triggers would break in after use--this is not the case.

The single biggest let down is the D-pad. In a controller set up like a dualshock, the D-pad is central. I purchased this controller for an amazing D-pad that turned out worse than that of the Xbox 360 controller. It is somehow less precise than the abominable D-pad of the 360.

The Logitech logo button doesn't bring up the Windows Live tab in games that still use the client, making it useless overall. I often find myself pressing the Mode button while trying to press Back, and even more frequently making the controller vibrate when I want to press Start. The Vibrate button makes absolutely no sense to me and serves no purpose at all (unless they were trying to appeal to certain female gamers.)

At first, I loved the way the controller felt in my large hands, but the shape of the controller is harsh after a while, forcing me to retreat to a claw-like grip to hold it to avoid cramps. If heavy is your style, then this controller will be good for you; it makes the wireless Xbox 360 controller seem a bit light. I know that for some people the ergonomics of this piece are grand, but a feeling of repulse grew on my hands after I handled it for more than an hour.

I know it is just a personal preference, but the setup of the analog sticks is not ideal--especially for large hands. I often found myself smacking my thumbs together while in-game.

The sad conclusion is that this controller was not worth the $40 I spent. For the price I could have purchased a Microsoft Xbox 360 controller, wired or wireless, and been far happier with my purchase. For now I will settle with my simple, but lovable Madcatz Xbox 360 wired controller.
