Five Star Reviews: | 50% Cordless Detector Mounting Clip September 28, 2017 Nice Escort Detector Clip For Cordless Only! Not Good At All For Corded Models! Works great woth 9500ix December 5, 2015 Works great with my 9500ix (still able to use the speed display which I like since my speedometer is off since I have bigger tires on my truck) as the speaker is on the bottom, it blocks a lot of sound on my 8500 x50 though as the speaker is on the top. Before you buy this though make sure your visor will sit perfectly (close atleast) horizontal so you detect outwords not the ground as many visors spring back when horizontal. Would recommend Raise your stealth... July 12, 2010 This is a simple device. It places your detector on your visor. This does two things:1. For X, K, and Ka band, should extend the range of your detector (while unfortunately affecting Laser detection)2. Reducing the visibility of your detector...While laser radar is on the increase, I have found my detector still detects laser in time to matter, even when visor-mounted. I have up to 2 mile detection range with my BEL Driver STi mounted on my visor - pretty incredible range. Your Mileage May Vary. The other day I was in Virginia (Radar Detectors Illegal) and I forgot to remove my detector from the windshield mount I use in my other vehicle and *BAM* I was stopped for having a detector. How could they miss it? It was smack in the middle of my windshield... I was fortunate that it was not connected to power and the officer gave me a warning with a reminder that the power source cannot be within reach. This prompted me to get a second clip so I can mount the detector on the visor in my second vehicle and avoid even the appearance of being a scofflaw in those places where an easily seen detector might trigger unwanted interest. | 46% works well. Every driver need this radar detector. March 25, 2017 works well. Every driver need this radar detector. For early and best protection, don't turn City mode on January 13, 2015 Ok. For anyone that has the problem with the false alarms. There is a way, the detector will pick up any signal in sight or off sight as soon as it can sense it. There are X, K, Ka, L bands. X and K are most of the time false alarms, read your manual to turn it off so you never or don't have to ignore it. What you should pay attention are Ka and L. Ka is specifically used by highway patrols and L is normally from the laser guns. For early and best protection, don't turn City mode on. Let it be "Highway" mode. It will maximize the range so you have time to response. I turn off X and K bands. I leave Ka, L, and V/S on and have no problems. It got signal far far away before I saw the patrol. Laser Gun has a shorter Range because it has a higher frequency and because of that you have no time to respond. Police devices will know you have detector so they will use laser gun instead. That is how V/S works, it makes you invisible (according to the manual). When you open it new, some will have it already set up, some will not just like mine. Read the manual and set it up again and you will be fine. |
Four Star Reviews: | 15% So there is no falling off or anything weird like that. Its just hard as heck to get ... September 15, 2015 I got this and have to say it doesn't stretch very well. I have a 20013 Chevy Corvette and a 2006 Chevy Trail Brazer and both the visors has a mirror on it. Both visors are thick and I had to REALLY muscle this thing on there. I might look into a rear view mirror mount instead. Once this is on my visor its on there until I take it off. So there is no falling off or anything weird like that. Its just hard as heck to get it where it should be. Great product May 7, 2015 Just received the product today. Fits snug and holds my solo 3 great. Only complaint would be that you have to have the visor hang down about 2 inches so the radar detector has a good view of the front and back of the vehicle. Holds very, very well January 23, 2014 If ever there was a product guilty of being too good, this would be it. The clip mounts perfectly into my S2 Solo radar detector. The clip is very tight. Very tight. It takes a little effort to get on the sun visor, but once it's on, it will not move. One thing I was not expecting, and this could be isolated to my make of car, was that when I put the clip on my visor, it permanently made a dent in the visor. It's probably not noticeable to anyone but me; alas, I know it's there. It doesn't affect the performance of the clip, it just bothers me that it's there. Other than that, great product that will keep your radar detector in it's place. Exactly as described May 6, 2012 There isn't really much to say about a formed piece of metal, but I ordered this to replace a lost clip for my garage door opener and it works perfect. I used some epoxy to glue it to my garage door opener and it has stayed in place for many months already. It has a nice tight grip on my visor and has never fallen off. I'd definitely order it again if I needed another clip. Simple, great product. BEL/Escort Radar Visor Clip Review May 6, 2010 Purchased this as a necessity after getting my BEL STI radar detector. Also, purchased the hardwire kit, which is necessary to reach the Detector mounted on the visor. You will need an "Add a Circuit" to put into you fuse block if don't want to use the the 3M connector supplied with the wire kit, which cuts into your fuse box wired circuit. Amazon sells that item too.Using all three items makes your detector much harder to see from outside the vehicle. This is important in states such as NY, VA and TX, where they will ticket you for using the radar detector. As the STI is a stealth detector, I feel it's the only one to buy if you travel to those states. I go to all three of them several times a year. The products work well for their intended use. Amazon performed well as usual.Escort 57-000027 Visor Clip Mount for Radar and Laser Detectors When suction cups won't work February 16, 2008 This device does exactly what it says it will do: mount your detector to the visor. And it works well for that purpose.Escort advises that mounting the detector on the visor will reduce laser detection due to the tint on the windshield. However, I have a hard time with suction cups in the winter. This product lets me securely mount the detector until the windshield warms up enough to use the suction cups. | 18% Excellent Value June 14, 2017 Paid for itself on the first trip! Display is a little dim for day light driving, otherwise, very pleased with its performance. Great for the price even when it detects automatic doors. June 9, 2017 Works perfect but detects way too many automatic doors. It is not loud enough, it is very hard ... June 2, 2017 It is not loud enough, it is very hard to hear it go off if yo have the music on. Good range but some false alarms? December 24, 2015 I have had this for a year and it has often detected radar from a large enough distance that I could react before I was the car being measured. I do get a lot of false positives (I think). Sometimes the alarm will go off for many miles and the car driving near me is not a police car. I am guessing that it might be reacting to someone's radar scrambler. |
Three Star Reviews: | 9% Don't drop your detector:( January 21, 2017 Doesn't rally stay on my detector securely....easily pulls off without pushing release button. Seriously over charged April 3, 2016 Not worth the price. I found myself not using it because it put the detector in a bad angle and position Not good for Escort 9500 on my visor set up. June 21, 2015 This did not work well for my Escort 9500i. It doesn't allow any adjustment of the angle, so it was point down too far. AND you couldn't reach any of the buttons on the unit. Would have returned it, but not worth the hassle of shipping costs. So, really visualize your escort unit and visor setup to determine how this will work in your application. Overpriced, but works exactly as intended. June 8, 2015 Suction cups wear out and weaken in the summer heat. This is the next best thing. Also a necessary option if you're hard-wiring your detector as I was.It gets the job done, but it's not worth the price. Alright..... September 23, 2014 It works (with my Beltronics Detector), but my gripes are this:It's too tight! It's difficult to get it on the visor and it leaves a deep indentation. It cost too much. I can't imagine it was over $1.00 to produce. Given the cost of the detector, this should be an included accessory. | 11% Need to Purchase Additional Bracket May 26, 2017 The radar detector seems to work fine, however the bracket leaves much to be desired. I had to rig it with a hairband to get it to stay together. Will need to purchase an additional bracket before my next road trip. Not as good as expected February 8, 2017 It's okay but picks up other signals in the city..... best for use when travelling. Hundreds of false positive, especially with the latest vehicles ... April 10, 2016 Hundreds of false positive, especially with the latest vehicles employing collision avoidance electronics that uses radar. Its a constant long beep in high traffic, especially LA's 405 freeway Great for a starting out radar! September 3, 2015 It's an alright piece. I bought it because of the price I'm 18 and used to get a speeding ticket a month ! It's great for night time but you can't really see the LED lights. The only way you can tell if it's a cop is because it makes a different beep! I'd recommend if your looking to try one out! Bought mine about 6 months ago. Getting a better one now though! |
Two Star Reviews: | 4% Didn't work in my car February 9, 2016 Didn't work with my 2007 Audi A4 visors, just pointed at the good. Returned. Blocks Rear Radar Detector. October 3, 2015 If you have a radar detector that doesn't have a rear radar then this is for you. If you do, save your money. Not for detectors with GPS September 17, 2015 Might be OK for some Escort detectors, but not mine. The fit OK and it did lock in place. It was tough to get on my thick visor. The radar detector did NOT pick up GPS located under the visor. I wouldn't get this again January 1, 2013 Very stiff spring. It pops free of the radar detector easily, which can be good and bad, mostly bad, because it pops out when you don't want it to. Once it is attached to the detector, it's a two-handed wrestling match to get it attached to the visor. Didn't work for me, check you visor before ordering. December 6, 2009 The good thing about this mount is it's not flimsy cheap metal thus it's not very easy to bend. Unfortunately the sun visor on my car was so thick forcing this over it would have damaged the visor or at least left permanent markings on the visor upon removal. I ran into this same circumstance when mounting my garage door opener but was able to bend it to conform. The second thing I did not think about was the angle of the sun visor when not in use. Both driver and passenger shade visors in my car are angled upwards towards the headliner when not in use and will not "stay" level, they simply snap back up when positioned level. For best performance of the radar / laser detector it's recommended the unit remain level and not at an angle. And finally weight. If your visors are lightweight and move easily or not attached correctly the weight of the detector may cause the visor to swing down unexpectedly. Not a good thing while driving down the road.So that said this product may work for you if you have that glass slipper of a perfect shade visor on your vehicle. | 8% Rarely works. July 17, 2017 This product works very little of the time. I noticed that it works in very few cities but it almost never detects cops. I did notice that if your city has really old cop cars then it might detect them but if the police units are newer it won't work. like they say you what you pay is what you ... July 25, 2016 It's okay, like they say you what you pay is what you get. Does pick up 18wheelers alot. Has hard time picking up some of the radars out there. Would recommend buying a better one You get what you pay for. October 19, 2015 It worked great for the first month. But it started giving false readings constantly when powered on. I cant seem to figure out how to re-calibrate the sensors. What do you expect for the price. I got more than 30 good days of operation so no complaints. Cop said he got me on radar and I thought that's funny because I didn't have him on anti radar and ... March 17, 2015 Seemed to work until I got a speeding ticket with it running. Cop said he got me on radar and I thought that's funny because I didn't have him on anti radar and the whole reason I bought this was to help fix my driving record. Also the display stopped working out of the blue and all it does is make noise now. Seems better suited for highway driving March 2, 2015 Seems better suited for highway driving. This thing is pointless for city driving with all the false alerts. I don't bother using it anymore - it's an annoying noise maker that draws extra attention when mounted to your windshield. |
One Star Reviews: | 22% it works... However, it had to ... August 10, 2017 it works...However, it had to cost fifty cents to make...why did I have to pay $14.95 plus shipping? Its a teeny piece of bent flat metal...price should have been $2.95 Im surprised escort ripped (I mean charged) too much. It should have been included with the $233.00 solo.I feel I have been had instead of thrilled initially with the product...Oh well..... Clipped backward March 19, 2017 Not work as it clipped backward like the other reviews mentioned. I should have read the reviews clearly before purchase this. I had never used it after I bought this product. ... a new clip - this one pulls out really easy (hardly any pressure) - had to change to different ... April 9, 2016 ordered a new clip - this one pulls out really easy (hardly any pressure) - had to change to different suction mount NOT compatible with newest Escort Passport Max 2 November 11, 2015 This does NOT work with the Passport Max 2 radar detector. This appears designed for a pushbutton release mechanism. The Passport Max 2 uses a magnetic clip mechanism. Doesn't fit on 2010 Scion TC Sun Visors June 24, 2014 I bought this for my Escort Redline radar detector because I live in Arizona and the heat destroys the little suction cup mounts. The problem with this is that it doesn't fit on my car's visors because they are too fat. This doesn't even fit on my visor let alone with a detector attached as well. Does not fit December 28, 2013 This thing does not fit in the back of the radar detector I take it that this clip that came with it doesn't go to it. De better guys | 17% Defective unit? Doesn't work? Not sure... October 17, 2017 Not really sure how I feel about this product. It works sometimes; I know it works because if I pass by a school zone with a radar, it detects the radar. Then again, I've also passed officers with radar guns CLEARLY out the window right at me, and it's detected nothing. The worst part is this thing LIGHTS UP for no reason 99% of the time. I'll be cruising on the highway and this will show anything from 1-3 bars at random, with no radars around whatsoever. It typically just beeps with 1 bar for Ka band...on, off, on, off. Not sure if this is a defective unit but I find myself unplugging it more often than not just from sheer annoyance during my commute. Would like to hear from Cobra on this. Does not work. Have used this for over a ... September 18, 2017 Does not work. Have used this for over a month and it has only beeped once. No nothing was even around at the time. It has never gone off around cops. Don't buy this product. One Star August 31, 2015 Rather disappointed with this product. It doesn't work as I had hoped from the reviews. |
