Happy with this, though just had to replace the $20 battery
May 11, 2017
Overall very satisfied with this monitor and have had no problems. One thing I wanted to mention is that after having this for around 13 months, the rechargeable battery stopped holding charge, and a replacement battery from the manufacturer costs $20. Not a massive amount, but not insignificant either. And the battery is not covered under either the standard 1-year or either of the extended warranties, so it's going to be out of pocket. This is not a criticism any more than having to change the tires on your car every few years is not a criticism of your car either, just wanted to post this so buyers are aware.

July 16, 2016
We asked for this monitor on our baby registry and we love it! It has great night vision even in a completely dark room and has a zoom feature which proved very useful when he was first born. It saved me a lot of trips into the room because I could see his chest rising and falling right through the monitor. It even has a microphone where you can talk through the camera to the baby. We don't do cry it out, so I usually just saying something like "Mommy's coming!" but I could see you soothing them through the camera if you weren't going to go in the room. When unplugged it usually lasts us about 5-6 hours. My only qualm is that is makes a terribly annoying beeping sound when the battery is low. I'm sure there is a way to shut that off, but I haven't figured it out yet. Other than that we love it!
Great Device ESPECIALLY For My Wife
June 24, 2016
I purchased this baby monitor for my wife because she MUST see the baby at all times, lol. I think it's a great product after owning it for over 5 months. You can speak to the baby through the camera and you can play pre-programmed music through it. The battery lasts a good while and the color is pretty good. You can actually see the child in the dark, which is wonderful when you need some time to relax after the baby went to sleep. The range is great for a standard sized home (3-4 bedroom) and there is no "losing connection" which is exactly what I expect from such a device. The price is great for such a good device.
Great monitor with nice features!
December 29, 2015
Have been using this monitor for about 9 months now and have really no complaints. It is a standard video monitor with some nice features, most of which I haven't needed to use. We have a smaller house so we haven't really needed to test the range of the monitor yet, but for what we have needed it for, every night use for 9 months, it has been great. There have been some random times when the signal will go out, but for us has only lasted a second or two.We have the camera on 24/7 as it is plugged into the wall and for most of the night the monitor is plugged in as well. The battery in the monitor is rechargeable and both the camera/monitor have backup batteries, which is nice, gives that extra piece of mind. The charge on the monitor is about 3-4 hours, in my experience. The monitor does have a talk-back feature which allows you to talk to baby, it also plays music through the camera as well.Overall I have been very happy with this monitor!
Best monitor on the market
May 23, 2015
I have owned 2 top of the line Samsung's that both broke after a couple of years. This product is far superior to the Samsung. After listening to the Samsung static for 3 years I can believe how clear this is.Great picture and sound. I did hours of research over days and am very happy with this purchase. The light ring is a great feature.I highly recommend this product.
Well made, functions perfectly, super happy with purchase and highly recommend
April 16, 2015
This is a great product. In the PEEP mode we use, the screen is dark and the unit is quiet until our son makes noise, at which time the handset wakes up and transmits image and sound. There is a sensitivity control that allows us to decide how much noise will trigger the display, which is good for our noisy sleeper. I also like the temperature readout because we have steam heat that is incredibly unstable. Although the Levana doesn't give an accurate temperature (ours is probably 3-5 degrees over actual), it is consistent, so I have learned what is a comfortable/healthy reading and I can make sure our boy doesn't freeze or overheat.Reception has been perfect, but this is used in an apartment, so we are no more than 30 feet from the nursery. We can't yet attest to range in a big house, although will get to try that out this summer. The only con is the green power light on the camera unit is quite bright and we wanted our son to sleep in the dark. It is a very easy fix though-- a little blu-tack covers the light and solves the problem completely. I bet a piece of chewing gum would work in a pinch!Great reception, long battery life, good picture quality, feels substantially made and has all the features we need. We are extremely happy with this purchase!

I am in love!
April 18, 2017
After I stopped co sleeping with my son I was very paranoid of leaving him alone in his room. However this product has given me a complete confidence in him being in his crib! I love the quality of how much you can see them! I can even see him breathing! I love the fact that I can also talk to him through it! Some other great features are the songs it plays as well and the option to only have the video or voice on! Great product and would reccomend to any mother wanting to have peace of mind!
I really like this monitor so far
February 3, 2016
I really like this monitor so far! It was easy to mount on the wall, and has a very nice look. Our old monitor broke so we replaced it with this and I can tell a big difference already. It has 8 different sound levels and the lowest one is quiet enough that the sound of my LO's noise machine doesn't keep me up at night, but I can still hear her when she wakes up. I also like the intercom function. LO woke up the other night and just hearing my voice through the monitor she calmed down and settled back to sleep. I also like that when #2 comes we can add another camera. I haven't tested the range outside yet buy it has no issue in our house. Will update if issues arise.
Simple and affordable
February 1, 2016
I really love our baby monitor. It was affordable and had the amenities that we wanted. Two way microphones, day and night views, and you can move the camera to look around. I particularly like that the monitor has lights on top of it that depict the volume that the baby is fussing. That way, if the volume is turned down (the crying can get old when you're sleep training), and the monitor goes to sleep, you can still see how badly your baby is fussing.
LOVE this monitor!
February 1, 2016
I love this monitor! When my son started having breathing issues I didn't want to sleep without him in my arms. This monitor gave me piece of mind so mommy and baby could both sleep soundly through the night. I keep the volume on level 3 and I can hear everything but if your a heavy sleeper you can turn the volume all the way up. Like most toddlers my son is constantly moving and changing positions while he sleeps so the pan and tilt functions are a HUGE plus. I can move the camera and see him no matter where he is in his crib. I would definitely buy this again and again!
The monitor is easy to use and set up
November 6, 2015
The monitor is easy to use and set up. I can use the monitor anywhere in our house and almost always get a strong singal. I notice in our office/den hear our home computer that the signal sometimes cuts out, but I'm not sure if that is due to distance or interference with our home computer. The audio quality is strong and clear. The video isn't crystal clear at night but certainly good enough to see whats going on as long as its not too far away. The pan/tilt is particularly useful. The controls are simple and easy to use. The battery life is very good and it will last several hours. We usually use it with the video off and only audio which helps conserve battery. This is our 2nd Motorola monitor and we got this one after our first one lasted four years before the power recharge connector broke on the monitor.
Fabulous product! Would buy it again.
January 29, 2015
I tried a few cameras (all bought from Amazon) and this one was the winner. This is a great little camera to keep your eye on your little one. In my case, it's my toddler. Not only does it allow me to see him when he's sleeping, or if he wakes up upset. But it also allows me to keep an eye on him if he wants to play in his room by himself. You can move the camera from the viewer (up, down, left, right), zoom in or out, speak to your child(ren) with the walkie talkie function, and raise/lower volume - all very easily. It took me less than 5 minutes to set it up and start using it.For me, there really are no "cons" to this product. The only other camera I'd recommend moreso, and only if you have an infant, is the AngelCare Deluxe - since it sensors your infant's movement. But once they're past one, this is the camera to go to. Love it.

Good video quality and range but....
March 21, 2016
We have had this baby monitor for a couple months now and for the most part we like it. It has a good range, video quality and quite a few controls from the monitor that we like. You can turn music on to help calm the baby. You can turn the music volume up and down and the listening volume up and down. You can also put the screen on sleep mode to conserve battery until there is a noise then it wakes up. There is also a night light on the top of the camera that you can turn on and off with the monitor but we have found that the night light doesn't really do anything. It is very dim and just looks like it should be a logo on the camera not an actual light. The most frustrating part is trying to get the right placement so you can see the whole crib. We have our camera sitting on a shelf above the crib about 4 or 5 feet. The camera doesn't tilt down far enough to have it almost directly above the crib. The camera tilts down about 45 degrees where 90 would be laying flat looking at the floor (see pictures). To go along with that the camera is not a wide angle camera so you really need to be about 10 feet away to see the whole crib but at that distance we can't see what our baby is doing. For now we just lay her down on one end of the crib where the camera is pointing from up above (see pictures).
The battery works great and it lasts for long naps
February 25, 2016
I ordered this monitor Jan 11, 2016. I really needed the night vision feature for a child that needs his room dark for nap and bed. I was very excited to also have the 2 way speaker system. The camera/receiver has a very clear picture and I was very impressed with the night vision clarity. I mounted the camera on the wall out of reach. The battery works great and it lasts for long naps. I plug the receiver in overnight and when not in use. This has really solved my problem with a child that needs sleep but has difficulty settling down. He loves the soft music. The night light scares him but he is used to a dark room. We just turn it off and he reminds us if it accidentally is activated. My only reason that I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that the night vision has gotten steadily worse starting after a few weeks. I used to be able to see my child clearly but now I can only see large movements like standing in bed. It has gotten to where I can't even tell if he is in the bed unless he is moving a lot. The picture in the light is still very crisp. I am disappointed about the night vision as it is our main reason for choosing this product. I will try contacting the customer service as the limited troubleshooting suggestions have not worked. This is a great monitor for a lighted area. I am holding out hope that the night vision aspect can be corrected.
Excellent Video Monitor for the Price!
February 2, 2016
Pros: Great video quality, audio sound, and battery life. Excellent Range (monitor still picks up signal in basement with camera on 2nd floor!) ,Cons: Temperature gauge runs high, Monitor feels fragileWe purchased this for our 2nd child as we prefer the video monitor over audio. After much research we decided the Levana Ayden provided virtually all features of the more expensive cameras at half the price. We mounted the camera over the crib and it works very well. The only negatives I have noticed so far is the temperature gauge seems inaccurate as it tends to run 5-6 degrees higher than the actual temperature. Additionally, the video monitor itself does not seem as though it would survive a fall without the screen cracking or breaking. (fortunately we haven't had to find this out yet)Overall this an excellent monitor for the price and would very much recommend it to others.
Good purchase
December 31, 2015
Full disclosure: I was offered a one year extended warranty in exchange for this review. After having a second child I wanted to upgrade to a better baby monitor with a second camera. Mostly I was looking for one with a clearer picture and better battery life than what I currently had (with an Infant Optics monitor). Initially I was frustrated because, while I could have the additional camera shipped directly to me, they wouldn't ship the main package with the monitor and camera to me because I lived in Ak. After shipping to a family member and having it forwarded to me (an exercise in frustration- don't we live in the 21st century?), I finally received my new monitor.I Have only been using the Levana for about a week but far I have been very pleased with its operation.Pros:Good battery life plus a battery logo that lets you know when you're getting low.A nice sized screen and decent picture.Very easy set up. First camera came already paired with the monitor and the second camera paired easily. The microphone is a nice addition and, while I haven't used it much, I can see how it may come in handy for my toddler.Flip up antenna. Gives you the ability to leave it folded down and out of the way most of the time-keeping it from getting broken off.Cons:The temperature sensor if off... By anywhere from 2-5 degrees. The menu icons are black and hard to see against the screen background. A brighter color would be much better.Peep mode won't work if you have a noise machine in the room. I'm disappointed that there is no provision for adjusting to the noise level of the room.Overall, It's better than what I had and a good product for the cost. If my opinion changes after extended use, I will be sure to come back and update this review.
I highly recommend this monitor!
January 26, 2015
I really like this monitor. We've been having temperature weirdness in the house where a few of the rooms are much warmer than others, so I really like the fact that I can see the temperature in my son's room at any time. The power saving is my favorite feature by far. Our old monitor wouldn't last more than a couple hours on a full charge, so we'd constantly have to move the power cord between the upstairs and downstairs or between rooms. This unit will last a few days on a single charge, as it is usually in low-power mode (our son doesn't really cry in his crib much anymore). The zoom feature is meh.. I've never really had a need for it, and the quality doesn't allow you any better of a view as this is digital zoom, not optical. We've used the built-in microphone a couple times too. The only thing I wish it had was a motorized camera that you could control from the receiver like our last monitor, but if you set the camera back far enough, it's not really necessary. The camera quality is MUCH better than our Motorola, which was surprising to me. The only flaw I found is that, in power-saving mode, sometimes the noise detection doesn't work properly and it'll take a few cries before it turns on the receiver. It's not a huge deal because it eventually does turn on, but it's worth noting.PROS:Built-in temperature sensor is very very usefulCamera quality is much better than our MotorolaNight vision works greatMicrophone can come in handyLasts a few days in power-saving modeLooks very stylishCONS:Noise sensor doesn't always work right away in power-saving modeRange isn't as good as our Motorola
Good Choice
January 21, 2015
I have had multiple different monitors and I like this one although as many other people mentioned the blue light is incredibly bright, which is annoying. The setup was easy although there needs to be a manual because it does a lot but isn't always clear. The picture is good as well as the range. I like that you can lock the keys, I had a Motorola and I was always worried I'd hit the wrong button at night and my daughter would accidentally hear me. MUCH better than the Summer Infant, which while cool looking was a major pain. Any other system electronic system that was close in proximity to the monitor would make the camera move, I thought it was possessed the first time it did it. Anyway, all monitors have some problems, you have to choose which ones you can live with.

Great camera monitor
September 14, 2016
Great camera monitor. Only complaint is that if there's another monitor or mobile device within a few feet of the monitor it loses its signal and constantly beeps/is unable to regain signal until set further apart from the conflicting device. Makes it difficult when 2 separate monitors for different kids' rooms are in use simultaneously.
I like that the camera can scan the entire room
August 16, 2016
Decent monitor. I like that the camera can scan the entire room, and i was able to pair this new monitor with an older camera as well. It changes from one room to the other every 10 seconds, which is great. I have been losing sound on the monitor occasionally, so i am chatting with motorola support in the meantime. But, all around, i like the product.
All features work as advertised, but signal is finnicky
April 26, 2016
Signal drops all the time. You have to find sweet spots to set them down in so they don't beep at you. That said, setup is stupid-easy, the menu is also very clear and simple. The video is good quality, and the battery is very reasonable I think. PTZ function and the two-way mic works well. My only beef is the signal.
image quality is pretty good even in very dark conditions
August 5, 2015
I've owned this monitor for about 18 months now, the reception and signal are outstanding, image quality is pretty good even in very dark conditions, if your reception or battery aren't good it has a very annoying beep that will get your attention, it has capability for several cameras, scans & alternates between them every 10 seconds. It works very well. Now the reason why is not getting the five stars: The monitor design isn't very user friendly, the modern design compromises the ease of use, the flat buttons are hard to figure out in the middle of the night and the power plug is the smallest of ANY electronic device I've ever owned so it is difficult to find unless you turn on the light, same goes for the power button. Great technology poor design. Hope this helps....
Wireless Logitech G930's are nearly useless when the video device is with in 5-10 feet
June 26, 2015
Pros:Does what it should do.range is decent.Video is fairly clear.Cons:Signal causes havoc to wireless network & devices.Wireless Logitech G930's are nearly useless when the video device is with in 5-10 feet.Luckily i run dual band 2.4 & 5 ranges.. but the devices on 2.4 sometimes have intermittent issues when near this device.Need to find out which wireless channel is the least effected by this device to move my Wireless Network over.
Good product, with just one problem
May 9, 2015
The setup is automatic. It has a good range. Doesn't go out of signal much. Hardly once a week or so but the nagging beep lets you know when it can't pick up on frequency of baby cam. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the battery life on parents monitor is crap. It lasts just for 3-4 hrs max. I keep mine with charger cable on the whole time. Thats the only way I can get some sleep or else the beep starts again for low battery. It goes on black and white in night vision and colored in the day. Volume is pretty loud. So rest assured you won't miss a beep from your kids. I like it, only downside is the parent unit battery life. But for the price its a great buy.

This is so easy to set up
August 22, 2016
This is so easy to set up, and works very well. The battery does not last as long as I would like it to - I have to plug it in every night otherwise it will die before we wake up in the morning. It does well to walk around with during nap time, though. The picture quality could be better, as could the reception. If I am in the living room directly below my son's bedroom, we have signal interruptions - it works most of the time, but occasionally blinks in and out. The nightlight is a good feature, provides an orange-ish light that is not too bright, but enough to find a pacifier in a dark crib. Volume works well, and the microphone is a good feature also. If you're thinking about buying this because of the lullaby features, DON'T! They are obnoxious, and play on a loop except that there is a break in between each song, so when it starts playing again, it is startling. Overall happy with this product, especially with the price we paid for it.
Levana Ayden leaves you wanting more out of it...
May 2, 2016
With the baby getting older and now sleeping in her own room upstairs, we needed some way we can keep an eye out on her while we were downstairs in the kitchen, living room or even in the front yard, after extensive review and consideration we settled with the Levana Ayden.PROS:*It has a nice size LED screen coming in at 3.5 inches so you would be able to get a bigger clearer view of your child.* The battery life is pretty decent lasted a close to 2 days with moderate use before having to be charged.* Has a two way intercom where you can talk to your child or even play some of the pre set music while your in the other room and using your monitor.* Easy to use easy to set up and I have been using this for a year and had no problems with the actual quality of the product.* The range is pretty good I had no issues with the range even while I was outside on the front porch and tested to about 700 feet before having to move closer to the camera.CONS:* The night vision mode is very unclear and grainy which is not as advertised.* The camera does not pan or tilt via the monitor meaning you have to manually position the camera just right and hope your child doesn't move out of view.* There is no WOW factor that makes this a great product its just very basic.* After a few months i did notice the video quality wasn't as good as when we first plugged it in.OVERALL:Like I said there is no major WOW factor with this monitor that just tells you go with this one it is advertised to be better then it really is and in my opinion it is just a middle of the road average video monitor it does the job so your not going to be terribly disappointing with it but then again it leaves you wishing that there was more to it, clearer screen auto tilt more features...For the money I would advise spending a few more dollars and getting one a little more advanced.
Works, but the night vision needs some work
December 2, 2015
We haven't had a chance to "use" this product yet (but we did play around with it), but we did get it set-up with no problems, easy to do and self explanatory. I do like it, and will not use all the functions like the multiple cameras or the Smart LED Indicator Ring, and it does work like advertise, mostly. Some of the things that I did not like about it, was that the instructions could have been more detailed, there is no troubleshooting section, just a really basic instructions. The reason is because after I got it set up, the screen was in black and white only, and this is supposed to be in color (and yes the light was on in the room). This is a big'y, after some trial and error found out if its to close to something black, it will switch to night vision. the bad thing is that the crib that we have is black, but figuring out if the camera is far enough away then you get a color video. But the whole distance thing is turning into an issue, because of where we have the camera mounted, once the video goes black and white, if we want color again we have to point the camera at a different location to get the color screen back. why buy a color baby monitor if it doesn't work.I wish the camera had a little more adjustment or freedom of movement.I'm not going to return it, got it on sale, and compared to the first baby monitor that we had, this is great.

July 18, 2015
Picture quality is above average in daylight, average with the night vision. Had a problem with the spare camera we purchased (white spots that wouldn't go away). Tried to return and replace it through the company, but they wanted us to ship it back and wait 2-3 weeks until the technician reviewed the problem and determined if replacement was needed, or to purchase a new unit and then get a refund after we returned the defective camera and they reviewed the problem. Not sure how the company expected us to wait 3 weeks when we have a newborn and use the camera every night?! We just returned it through Amazon, because Amazon is great. Had a new properly working camera in a few days and a box to return the defective one it. Thank you Amazon!Have now had the unit 3 months. Overall, works good. Happy with it. BUT - the battery just stopped holding a charge. Video monitor needs to be plugged in or it beeps low battery constantly. I will try again to contact the company for a replacement battery.
Get the extended warranty
July 18, 2015
Overall, it's a great product, but with a significant chance of LCD defect. The image is very clear, night vision is good, the battery life is fantastic, and we experienced no connectivity problems. We used it for almost 2 months without any troubles whatsoever, and then the LCD screen became defective. Every other horizontal line started displaying white, and over a day the entire image became so bright as to be useless. We returned it to Amazon for an identical model, and that one had a defective LCD screen right out of the box. The top 1/5 of the screen displayed solid white.I was very disappointed by this development, because it spoils an otherwise fantastic product with a great price. I hope that Levana can address this issue in future manufacturing. I do recommend the product...just be sure to get the extended warranty.
Great performance, responsive customer service, but lacking in durability and replacement parts.
May 6, 2015
When we first bought this monitor and started using it, I would have readily rated this a five star. Our home is a tri-level with 2300 sq ft, and no matter where the parent unit was located (whether in the house or in our yard), it still received a strong signal from my children's rooms. Everything was going great, until my now mobile, and incredibly busy 13-month-old got hold of the parent unit one day. He grabbed hold of the antenna, and somehow pulled it off. It's still connected by the wire, but the signal has never been the same. I have had to tape the antenna sticking up at a very odd angle to get any signal at all. And the signal we do get can be rather choppy. We can't hear our son from our bedroom when he is sleeping in his room without a monitor, so this is NOT OK. I contacted Levana to see if they sold the parent unit separately as a replacement. We already have two cameras for this thing (one for each of the kids' rooms), so the idea of buying an entire new set makes me cringe. We simply do not need a third camera! Levana was very quick to respond to my inquiry, and they were very polite, but they do not sell the parent unit separately. I then asked about the possibility of sending the unit in for repair. They do not offer repair service for their products. What I got was a 5% discount on a new monitor (with camera) and an apology. So, now I'm stuck with two cameras and a parent unit that probably will not last much longer. This set lasted less than a year. Definitely not worth the money I spent on it to begin with, considering the durability. I'm not complaining about the performance of the product, or about their customer service, but I do wish they would consider selling pieces of their sets separately in situations such as this where just one unit out of the set fails. And I am questioning the durability of their products, especially those with movable antennas, such as this one has. I'm writing this review in the hopes that I can spare someone else the trouble I've had. Word from the wise: if you buy this monitor, make sure you keep the parent unit out of reach of curious toddlers. Other than that issue though, this was a great monitor while it lasted!

Short life span
July 19, 2016
Well, while it worked, it was a pretty good monitor. Battery life was pretty poor, never more than about 2 hours, but we mostly kept the monitor plugged in, so that wasn't a huge problem for us. It had a good, clear display and the night vision was sharp enough that you could make out the baby's breathing (which is basically why you have a monitor, right?).But then, the monitor unit died about three months after we bought it. At first it just stopped powering on, then it would power on but wouldn't link up with the camera if the camera was more than two feet away. Which totally defeats the point of a baby monitor. Fortunately it was still under warranty, so we got a replacement, but they were out of this one, so they sent us the MBP41s, a slightly different model.

January 21, 2016
This camera system is just OK nothing great. It does its job and sends a low quality pic to my VERY TINY monitor. The plastic is cheap and the camera does not have a mount for the wall and the little hooks for the nails are in the wrong spot to even use properly. Overall I say that Motorola should be embarrassed with this crap. I would say if you want to be underwhelmed then buy it. It functions but not what I expected.
It's ok- but not superior.
November 30, 2015
I like that the image is clear on this, and you can talk to baby on it.. but it seems to pick up a lot of interference. My home is only 2000ft2 but it won't reach from my son's room to mine. I also use white noise so I always hear it, there's no way to turn the sensitivity down. I have been using it 7 months now and randomly these little lines show up on the screen now. I don't think I would purchase it again, but don't have other monitors to compare it to. I also wish it had a little clip on it to carry it around on my pants when my hands are full. But like I said - image is clear day and night! Battery power seems to last for a long time, and it has a zoom function that is great too.
worked great until it didn't work
May 28, 2015
We bought this a month ago and I thought it was pretty nice, we just had an audio monitor for baby #1 which was totally enough, but when I plugged it in to use for baby #2, it wasn't working anymore so I thought I would splurge on the video monitor so I can be outside with kid #1 and peek in on kid #2 when she is napping (it's really hard to hear a monitor around our house because it's always windy). It was working great for a month, I really like the fact that I can use it like an audio monitor unless I choose to turn on the video, the video doesn't turn on at any noise. The big problem was after a month, the audio stopped working on the parent unit but I could tell it was the parent unit because the noise indicators on the top of the unit would still light up but there was no noise or even that nice white noise that tells you it is functioning. I called Motorola customer service and they were very nice after I explained what was going on and that I had tried everything to troubleshoot and they are sending me a replacement monitor that hopefully doesn't have that malfunction.
A great Baby monitor but battery life sucks
March 25, 2015
I really liked it for the first couple days but literally a week into owning it the battery barley stays charged for 2 hrs and dies extremely quick, and im a stickler for directions I let it charge for over 16hrs before even turning it on and always charge it fully when dies and still it did this but I can dal with it cuz I can easily plug it back in while I use it but if I wasn't able to do this I would be pretty upset about the battery life but ill admit that EVERY thing else about this is really great and I still like it

Nice product, but the monitor doesn't stay charged for more than one night or day.

Not even in the perfect lightning conditions did it ever seem so clear
March 2, 2016
Camera worked okay for a while. Now the monitor doesn't charge unless you wiggle the cable. We've only had it for 10 months and we barely used it to the extent that the charger shouldn't be so worn. Also the picture on the monitor is never as clear as the pictures they show of the monitor. Not even in the perfect lightning conditions did it ever seem so clear. The monitor makes a very loud beep when it's dying, I'm not sure if this is a feature or just an annoyance. I am working through the warranty process but fear because of the other reviews I've read here. Looking back realizing I spent $99 on this I'm shocked that the quality and warranty process is so sub par.
Night vision broken after 4 months - do not buy!
January 22, 2016
UPDATE 5/16/16: After ~4 months of daily use, our night vision is going out. Screen is getting darker and darker, and very staticky. I am changing this review from four stars to one star. I cannot recommend this baby monitor anymore.UPDATE 05/25/16: Changed to 2 stars. My electrical engineer husband figured out that it was the infrared LEDs that were going out. He bought an IR illuminator for security cameras and mounted that near the baby monitor, pointing into the crib. Now the baby monitor can "see" at night again. Here is the illuminator we are using. Phenas Home 48-led Cctv Ir Infrared Night Vision Illuminator Camera Leds Lamp I recommend that you read his review of the product as well: https://www.amazon.com/review/R2W38BVDEBUVNG/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00GFDAJEIThe only downside of this fix is that you can see the infrared LEDs glowing at night. It doesn't seem to bother our baby and they aren't bright. (The crib doesn't glow red - the only way you see any red is if you are looking at the infrared LEDs themselves.) The cost of this is probably about the same as shipping the monitor back to the manufacturer for warranty work, but the benefit is you're not without a baby monitor for any period of time.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This monitor was purchased to replace an audio only monitor we had. The audio-only unit worked well for our baby as a newborn but we found ourselves needing more information as she got older (is she really awake or just making noises in her sleep?). We didn't want anything fancy - just a video unit which would let us see what was going on without walking into the nursery. This unit very much fits that bill.PROS:- Good video quality. The screen shows color when there's light, and at night it uses infrared and displays in black-and-white. The quality of the video is excellent.- Generously sized screen. Several other baby monitors I considered had tiny screens. This one has a screen that measures roughly 3.5" x x 2.5".- While the user manual sucks (more on that to come), probably the nicest feature is not detailed in the user manual: If you press the power button, it'll turn the screen off, and it will turn itself back on when there's sound detected. This way, it doesn't light up the entire room at night.CONS:- The user's manual needs work! It does not go into detail at all about the product. I even went to the manufacturer's website to see if I could find a more detailed version - and nope, it doesn't exist. Most of the features are self explanatory, but being told about how you can press the power button to go into a "stand by / power save " mode would've been nice.- Like other reviewers mention, the screen is really bright at night. Even with the contrast turned down all the way. Especially when you have just woken up and your eyes are adjusting to the brightness.- The sound from the unit is delayed. I have 2 audio only baby monitors that didn't have this problem (or wasn't significant enough to notice). It's not a huge deal but it does make it sound like there are 2 babies crying in 2 different rooms. For the price, I really can't complain.WISHES:I wish it was capable of displaying the time. Sometimes I see her wake up, and would like to know what time it is so I know how long she's slept. Instead, I have to go find my phone. (I'm a stay-at-home mom of a newborn... I couldn't even begin to tell you where I last put my watch!)
A list of Cons, Really no Pros- There are better options with other companies!
January 6, 2016
I do not recommend this monitor for anyone really. I currently have 1 Levana monitor- a cheaper version- and it works much better but the sound quality on that one is bad. This one loses signal CONSTANTLY and the range is laughable. I also have an additional camera and tried to hook it up to this monitor- pairing was easy but pointless because only the main camera will turn the monitor on if it hears a noise- the second camera has to be manually checked to see how baby is doing. This is ridiculous to me because I want to know when either baby cries, hence the reason why I have a monitor in the first place. The picture is good in daylight but the nightvision is blurry and grainy (this is not the case with my other Levana monitor). The company has terrible customer service and if you try to use your warrantly they will charge your credit card $99 to send you a replacement and they will only refund the money if their "techs" determine there is actually a problem with the monitor. I don't trust that they would be honest because I have had to contact them numerous times and each time they say it is probably a problem with my home and not the monitor (what??). The only good thing about this monitor is it does have peep mode but the con is it only works about 20% of the time. BUY SOMETHING ELSE! This will be going back to Amazon
Eh, not impressed at all after hours of research for the best video monitor
December 12, 2015
I had high hopes with this monitor. I have done tons of research and felt this would be an excellent solution, however I am pretty disappointed. We first started with a Motorola audio only monitor : http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Digital-Monitor-Parent-MBP161TIMER-2/dp/B011JIXCWE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1449940009&sr=8-6&keywords=motorola+audio+monitorAnd loved how easily it picked up sound, the range ability (could be outside my house doing yard work and STILL get signal), but didn't love that I couldn't see my little man. So I returned that monitor and got Lavana Ayden Digital Monitor. Here are my thoughts:Pros:1) Love being able to see my babe on the large screen and the night vision is good (for now, I know some people have issues with it dying later on)2) The long battery life is great!Cons:1) Terrible range- I can hardly go into my basement without it cutting out and crackling and I have a fairly small house (1200 sq ft)2) The LED light is super annoying an is always flashing3) It picks up the white noise machine more than the babies cries, and the white noise is super loud (louder than even in the room) through the monitor4) PEEP does NOT work well, even if the monitor is like 2 feet from the baby. He has to be screaming and moving around like a crazy man for the monitor to turn on, so I have to use the monitor in full use all of the time5) No pan tilt feature, only a pretty lame zoom optionThat being said, I am looking into other options... Might just go to a video motorola, and be ready to keep replacing the battery pack on the parent unit...seems like they make a much better product.
Just "OK". Revised after 10 + months of use.
August 26, 2015
*** Revised *** (8/2/16)The original unit that had said issues below stopped charging its own battery so after working with Levana and trying a new battery, they decided to replace the unit. I was surprised when they offered to cover shipping charges because its not usual. I did have to pay upfront for a new unit to come to me first because I did not want to be without one for our upcoming vacation but they assured me I will be reimbursed once they receive and test the defective unit. I have the new unit now and it seems to be working alright. If I had the option of just getting a refund I would have because I expect this unit will also give me trouble in the months to come, but I am grateful that I have a new (and working) unit.***Revised *** (5/3/16)I contacted Levana Customer Care regarding the issues below. In addition to those, the "noise sensitivity" feature seems to be defective now because the screen won't turn off after no noise like it used to. It stays on until I wake up from it to turn it off again. The customer service has been great. My only complaint is that they are making ME pay for the return shipping when I believe they should be responsible for it. I'll update if needed as things progress.***Revised***This started off as a great monitor and now it's just ok. The reception is terrible. If someone stands inbetween the monitor and camera the "out of range" white screen appears. It's also not performing as well as it used to. I have to charge it nightly now compared to the original review I had written. I would advise to keep looking.Original ReviewGreat baby monitor! We have a small 1400sf home so I get reception everywhere inside. Every once in a while when I work outside in the yard the monitor can't find the camera but overall its great. It automatically switches between color and night vision depending on the lighting. The lights around the arrow button go from green, to orange, to red depending on how loud your little one is being. The battery life of the monitor is fantastic! It lasted me seven, 9-10hr nights with some 1-3 hour naps in the day. I am very impressed.
Peep mode doesn't work with more than one camera
May 25, 2015
We have had this monitor for almost a year with one camera and it is great. Battery life of great, picture and sound are both great. Only complaint has been that darn flashing light.. I cannot even tell you how bright it is. We had to cover with electrical tape to be able to sleep. However, recently we bought a second camera because we're expecting a new baby (being able to monitor multiple cameras was the primary selling point). But peep mode apparently does not work with more than one camera paired (in cascade mode). This means the screen stays on constantly. Not only does that affect battery life but it affects my sleep too. I only want the screen on when it needs to be. We tried setting one camera as the primary to see if the other one would activate with noise and it doesn't. What good is that? If you're only using one camera then I recommend this monitor, but I'm very disappointed in the lack of flexibility with more than one camera.

Good monitor, but poor craftsmanship will shorten the life of your baby monitor
October 25, 2016
Cheaply made and this is the second time that the power cord charging slot was the thing to break. I do not recommend purchasing this product until Motorola improves the product design. Only purchase if you are OK buying a new monitor every year.Pros:-Worked great in concrete house and no disruption of signal-Great night vision-Good clarityCons:-Cheaply made and will only last about 1-2 years.-Customer Service not willing to offer refund on first monitor, so I bought another one....We will see what they say this time as it's still under warranty.-Battery life is poor-Newer video cameras are not compatible with older monitors. Come on Motorola, take a few notes from Apple.
Wish it lasted longer than a month
May 4, 2016
We really loved this monitor at first but exactly a month after we purchased it, that is no longer the case. The battery life is amazing. In addition the picture quality was good as well as the sound. We also loved that we could control the camera with the buttons on the monitor. However, about a week into using this monitor a line appeared on the screen, a single white line, almost like a dead pixel on a computer monitor. We tried restarting the monitor but it would not go away. In about another week another line appeared to the left of the original one. Finally tonight, the monitor made a clicking noise and when I looked there was a third line on the screen, now completely obstructing the view. Saw some photos that other folks posted similar to what is happening with our unit, seems to be a product defect. We're returning this monitor and looking for something better.

January 19, 2016
We have been using this monitor since August. I wanted to wait until I had used it for a while before I reviewed. The video is grainy and the sound quality is not very good. All of the sound is very spotty and constantly goes in and out every few seconds. That is very annoying when you are trying to sleep. It sounds like a radio going in and out. I wouldn't purchase again.
Broke in less than a week
July 4, 2015
This is our second purchase of this monitor because our little one stepped on the first one, breaking the screen. After using our new monitor for three days it wouldn't charge any longer. The charging part of the monitor fell into the monitor, not allowing it to charge. We could hear the piece rattling around, but we couldn't fix it. I was extremely disappointed this happened less than a week after the purchase. Wouldn't recommend this item to anyone else.
This worked fine the first three times we used it
March 18, 2015
This worked fine the first three times we used it. The fourth and so on, we keep getting "No Signal" errors. We can be within 30 ft with a clear line of sight and it will go from full service to no signal at random. It will beep every few seconds when there is no signal which is a great safety feature but it's frustrating being woke up constantly throughout the night because of it.
Spotty reception and bad charging connection
February 2, 2015
Thought I really liked this monitor but after about a month of use the charger connection is loose so in the middle of the night if it's just a fraction loose it's starts beeping because the battery is dying! When you're already waking multiple times a night this is the last thing you need. Also the signal is spotty and the sound goes in and out constantly even though we are right in the room next door. Also wish the volume was easier to turn up/down. You have to click on the menu to get to it. Love the panning feature though.

Worst Baby Monitor Ever and the Company uses the "planned obsolescence" model for profit
April 6, 2017
The absolute worst baby monitor. Ever heard of "Planned Obsolescence"? It's when a manufacturer purposely designs a product to fail within a certain period of time forcing you to buy the new one, etc. In the case of this monitor, the cord stopped working (like clockwork I might add) in six months. I think the new one was $16 or $19 dollars. I went ahead and purchased it only to see the new one stop working in six months again! Now, it's April 5, 2017 and my monitor stopped working altogether. After having an electrician install the cameras and a painter patch and paint the surrounding areas, this monitor has cost me a small fortune and never worked that well to begin with. I would highly recommend buying anything else but this brand!
Disappointing levana product
March 5, 2017
Night mode never worked from first day of use, should have returned it but thought it was user error since there is no manual. Come to found out a lot of people have the same issues. Also the signal is horrible, I can be holding the monitor next to the camera and I lost signal. We had levana Jena for 3 years And we love it until it died few weeks before the baby. We tried to get another one and it was out of stock so we end up getting this one. Don't buy it, 50/50 chance this is a junk for you
did not last long
May 6, 2016
It was ok at first, only used for nap time and bed time. Then realized camera unit does not hold a charge. Ok...just always had it plugged in. Then sound stopped working on monitor unit (all before she was a year old). Been a busy first year but eventually got around to contacting company.I was told it's standard that the camera does not hold a charge bc it uses too much power for the batteries required. My question was well why does it say I can use it without being plugged in? Or why did I waste my money on buying so many batteries hoping it would hold a charge? Then in regards to the sound on the monitor, they advised I buy a new one since my one year warranty is up. I refuse to spend more money on a company who makes a device that lasts for a year (conveniently in line with one year warranty ) and their only resolve is to make another purchase.Unfortunately I will need to buy another, just not from this company.
Garbage DO NOT BUY
February 18, 2016
Heed the warnings of other reviewers! I read quite a few that said the night vision camera stopped working. I thought they must've just had defective units. Well here I am after 6 weeks of use and the picture is so grainy I can't make anything out, the screen is almost completely black. After 6 WEEKS! How can they get away with selling a product that is such complete garbage?! It was great the first few weeks, has really been deteriorating this past week for no reason. I'm hoping I can return it, wish me luck. Don't waste your time with this. I had a Sony that worked great for over a year until I dropped the parent unit down the stairs. I'll be looking for another one of those or I've heard good things about Motorola. This is my second Levana, both have been garbage.
Buy a better monitor
October 30, 2015
Read the first 10 reviews then don't buy this product. I second every single pro/con there. 6 months in and this is junk-night vision doesn't work. Clip & antenna broke off (just regular usage, not dropping it/letting baby touch it/etc). Don't waste your money. Spend an extra $50 & get a Motorola or Summer Infant device. At elast their customer service AND device are better. Levana wanted me to pay to ship it to them, make repairs and charge me, and send it back refurbished....for DESIGN flaws & a shoddy product they made!!!! Not worth your time, money, or headache.
poor video quality, poor customer service
August 6, 2015
I purchased the Levana Ayden in February 2015. In April, I purchased an additional camera to use in the playroom. After using the monitor for six months, the night vision feature stopped working. Basically, you only see a black screen at nighttime. Levana clearly advertises on its website that Ayden comes with a one-year warranty. I assumed this means they would quickly replace my defective camera. I was very wrong. The first customer service representative did tell me the monitor would be replaced. I was told to simply provide proof of purchase and give them my address and I would receive a return authorization for a new monitor. However, I was later contacted by another customer service representative, who told me the following:1. I would need to cover the costs to ship back the defective camera.2. The defective camera would then be tested by a technician, which takes 2-3 weeks (therefore, I would be without a baby monitor for 2-3 weeks).3. If I did not want to wait 2-3 weeks, they would send me immediately a replacement monitor…if I pay a deposit.4. If they determine the unit is in fact defective, the replacement unit would be a used monitor. This does not feel like a company that wants to stand behind the quality of their products. The one-year warranty is clearly not meant to be executed.

Useless warranty!
July 18, 2016
I purchased two of these. The first one, the monitor stopped worked after a little more than a year, so the warranty had expired. We purchased a second so we could at least continue to use both cameras if we had a second kid. That monitor also stopped working, this time within the warranty period. I had an email exchange with a tech support person there who in the end said I qualified to get a new monitor. I called the number she gave me, got instructions, sent my monitor in and never received a monitor back. I called to check in and they said they hadn't received it at the warehouse. I just don't believe that and I am sick of spending time on the phone. I now have two cameras, one broken monitor and if we have another kid, I will have to buy a whole new monitor. It won't be Motorola!
Bad battery life, horrible quality. Average features.
February 25, 2016
So this is my second of this exact same model. The first was a baby shower gift. It seemed good at first, but began to have a couple of very important (to me anyway) issues...First, the battery life, which kinda sucked to begin with, got so bad that it really could only be used off the charger for naps. And it would die if the nap went over an hour, maybe an hour and a half. Bought a replacement battery, and the same thing happened with that. And really only took a few months for the deterioration to occur. And while this bothered me, it was not a deal breaker, because the other features were nice, and I had already purchased a second power cord for it. Plus, I kinda knew that it may be an issue since this unit uses old (Ni-cad) battery technology.Second, the outlet on the monitor unit where you plug in the charger started to get really touchy. You had to be very careful about how much you moved the unit or the charging would stop. And eventually, it just stopped making a connection all together.I figured that I had just gotten a bad unit, or maybe it had been dropped or something and I had not known about it. So with baby #2 arriving, I decided to get a second unit and just link the two cameras to the new monitor.Again, it seemed to work great at first. As expected though, the battery issues were the same. But the tipping point for me was just the other day when the outlet on the new unit stopped working all together, just the same as the first one.Couple other details of note... The first camera started making a lot of noise went you moved it using the monitor unit. Guessing the motor just was starting to wear out. As a result, could not move the camera without it being noticed. Kinda freaked out my daughter a couple times. And also, the range was a little spotty for both units. We live in a 3 story town house and our bedroom is on the top floor, with the kids on the bottom floor. The monitor makes a loud beep and goes blank from time to time. Not terribly pleasant when you are trying to sleep.Anyhow, probably been too long for me to get my money back, but at least I could share my misfortune with others in the hope that nobody else will get screwed over by this cheaply made product.

This is the worst camera I think on the market the picture is sooo grainy you can hardly make out th baby just movement and sound... The charge never keeps only two hours worth have to run around recharging it all day... The video constantly turns off to save power it's so bad... The menu options are useless aside from the volume button and brightness ... The rest of them don't do anything... Wish I knew all this while j could still return it is not worth the price!

This monitor is terribly constructed. We were given the monitor as a gift and very quickly the power switch got stuck in an inverted position. We bought a second one thinking that was a fluke, and the second one didn't work right out of the box! The screen was black. I will never purchase a Motorola product again.
