There are other jacks exactly like this one that are cheaper
March 11, 2017
Here is a motorcycle (or multipurpose) jack that really makes storing a bike a breeze. The handle comes right off so it is not in the way. Also, after hauling the bike in the air off it's tires, you engage a positive lock and then slowly let the jack down against it. This alleviates pressure on the hydraulic jack and ensures the bike stays where you put it. There are other jacks exactly like this one that are cheaper. I don't know how they would stack up to this one. Too many things built in China anymore.
Used it twice now, confident in its capability
February 14, 2017
I used this for my street glide to tear the entire bike down for a winter project. Did not experience the free fall others mentioned when lowering it. It was faster than I would like, but not scary. 5 stars as I avoided almost $700 unit others raved about. Assembly was minor and straight forward. Bike has been on the lift with the emergency stop bar engaged for 2 weeks while parts are out for powder coating. A little extra care needed with placement because I elected to leave my center stand on. Recommend disconnecting jiffy stand spring though to get it out of the way.
Best Moto Lift on the market!
August 9, 2016
You simply CANNOT go wrong with this lift!!!! Hands down the best bang for the buck. Back wheels lock...and two pins screw downward to eliminate movement even more. Smooth controls. SUPER easy to assemble!! Locking bar to prevent hydraulic leak/dump from inadvertently lowering your bike. You'd be a fool for buying anything even remotely comparable. Unless you're going for the full on shop lift in your garage...this is the way to go. Heavy duty and well built.
Best bang for the buck! Stable and quality built jack

Great Jack. Had it about a month now and my 800lb. Harley sat in the full upright position the whole time. Did not drop one inch!!! Yes, as stated, down pedal is touchy but come on!!! You ride a Motorcycle don't you? You have half a brain!!!!!! Use due diligence and take your time pressing the damn thing!!!!!!!!!!! Best jack on the market for the money IMHO.
Suzuki M50 up on it
May 15, 2015
No directions but the parts diagram was easy to follow. If you are going to do some work on your machine, then you have to have some basic mechanical skills to put this together. Agree with others, the lift is very sensitive on the way down.... like 2 lbs of pressure is plenty, that's like stepping on your own foot with no pain.
Nice Lift!
June 8, 2012
Just got the lift today. Ordered it Sunday, received it on Friday...impressive! Always glad to open a carton and find all the pieces there. Very simple assembly, even though there are no assembly instructions. Little nervous about lifting my bike for the first time, but all went great! Simple up and back down again. No second person needed. I checked out a lot of lifts before settling on this one,and the 2 biggest reasons I chose this one, is the low height to get under most newer cruisers, and the length of the skids. The others I was looking at looked good, until I went out and measured my bikes. 11" sounds like plenty of length, but it's not once you go out and measure! These are 17", I think, and they are perfect, giving a little extra room for the bike. I really think I'm gonna like this lift. So far, I'm impressed.

They are sturdy enough.
October 28, 2016
Works very well for me. I have several and use them to support my Harleys. I don't work off them. I just keep the bikes upright to conserve space in my garage. But if I wanted to pull a wheel off or do any other work while on these I wouldn't hesitate. They are sturdy enough.

Motorcycle Floor Jack
October 24, 2014
This jack lifted my 660 pound 1300cc Honda Sabre very well and I was able to take the front wheel off to change the tire. The Honda was so stable when lifted on the jack that I did not even need to strap it to the jack to hold the bike steady. I am really impressed with it.
DRAGSTER STANDS
September 20, 2013
Forget my EZ jacks I utilized these by making some mount that tied into my EZ jack mounts on my dragster (FED) any they work great!!! No $2500. EZ jack crap for this guy rather put the money into my car than just to lift my car. Good stuff Still use a static stand in the middle of the car in conjunction with these for jacked start ups for stability...
Well Built
April 26, 2013
This jack is well built at 33#. The screw Drive is smooth and the included tool is large enough to give you the leverage you need to lift a full size Motorcycle. The 2 adjustable frame standoffs screw up and down to adjust for any offset in the bikes frame, and they also are completely removable if you have a sturdy flat surface like the 3 mm thick Skid plate on a Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z or BMW_1200_GS.

I think I found the perfect motorcycle lift
January 27, 2016
After lots of research, and in the price range I was looking to spend, I think I found the perfect motorcycle lift. Was delivered on time and in good shape. My only concern after assembly was that the locking bar, as well as the stops that it rests on needed to be modified slightly to ensure that it stayed in place. It was a simple fix with a metal grinder and a punch to raise the stops and it locks in very well. The good thing about the rails is that they are the perfect length as well as distance between them to actually lift my 800+ lbs Road King from the kickstand side of the bike which was a plus for my storage situation. It would have been a 5 star if I hadn't felt the need to adjust the locking bar. Very sturdy and well made. Reasonal price...
I'm happy with it.
March 12, 2015
Arrived intact. As others have mentioned, list of parts, no assembly instructions. Despite that, put together in like 20 mins. It's not terribly difficult. Just had to think about how it worked and the pieces were then fairly obvious. Regardless...no instructions cost the 5th star.I'm quite happy with the quality and construction. Lifting and lowering is completely smooth. I don't know if some of the other reviewers got faulty units or what, but I'm happy with the operation.Have an '06 Heritage Softail Classic. Very low slung and like 700# wet. Even leaned over on kick-stand, lift slid right under. Once I determined a good balance point on my bike, up it went to full extension and seemed stable. Did a 3 hole fluid change while it was up...no issues and didn't have to crawl under the bike. Felt totally safe working around bike on it.I'd by it again. For the price I think it's a very good deal.
Very good jack/lift for the cost
January 2, 2014
First, I read a lot of the reviews on the Amazon sales page before I decided to purchase this jack. I am a heavy equipment mechanic with over 30 years experience, and I am familiar with and use several OTC tools. I decided that for the price, this was a tool that was well worth the cost. It appears well made, all welds are complete, and all necessary parts were shipped. I have not owned other jacks/lifts for motorcycles, so I cannot compare cost to quality for other products. When it came (no assembly instructions as stated in several of the other reviews) I had no problems with assembling the few parts required to make it complete by using the parts sheet. A lot of the reviews also stated that the lowering mechanism for the jack was jerky when operated slowly, or dropped quickly when activated. I immediately tried jack operation after assembly to check this, as I had seen a simple fix for this that another customer had posted. After raising the jack (under load) to its max height and lowering it several times, locking jack at safety catch points, unlocking and lowering to the ground, I experienced no such problems with my jack. Although this lift has a sufficiently wide wheel base to safely lift a large bike (I own a Victory Cross Country Tour) I doubt that I would try to move the bike while elevated. I received exactly what I expected in this purchase.I would and will recommend this jack to anyone looking to purchase a cost efficient way to lift their motorcycle for maintenance repairs or cleaning. Nothing gets a 5-star rating that doesn't exceed expectations.
Not perfect but gets the job done
February 21, 2013
I have a 2008 Sportster, and it has been a nightmare trying to find a jack/lift that will work with my bike. There are two complications, the sportster is low and only has about a 4in clearance. The second is that the sportster does not have a lot of free space underneath for the jack pads to lift it from. I had tried two previous jacks before this one. I bought the $100 craftsman red jack from sears. This jack was too high and couldn't fit under the bike without putting it up on block...returned. The second I tried was a Pitbull Jack, which is super expensive premium jack. The jack itself was awesome, and it was able to fit under and lift the bike, but was still a little shaky. For the money it wasn't worth it. Luckily I had borrowed that one to try and didn't have to worry about returning it.Enter the OTC 1545. I just put the bike up on it. It fits underneath with no problem so theres a plus. It still doesn't quite fit exactly where I need it to fit without any problems, but its more manageable then the other jacks I've tried. I do have to lean the bike up right to be able to get it lifted, but once its up there, its pretty stable. Add one of the included straps and it works pretty well. The jack itself seems to be quality made, and there were no obvious defects in the craftsmanship.
OTC Lift
December 31, 2012
My lift was delivered in good condition. It retracts low enough to slide under both of my Cruisers. It lift high enough to work on the bikes comfortably from my rolling work stool. The only problem is when I let the lift down a little oil leaks on to the floor. I have not had a chance to see if I can fix it yet, I'm thinking it's an Oring but don't know for sure. I have left the bike raised for several days and it has held it position fine. It's made in China like most everything else these days. I would recommend to a friend.Update: I could not stop leak so I got a replacement unit. I still like the lift it works great.
Sturdy construction but not perfect
February 22, 2012
I got my jack today. Lots of exploded parts lists in different languages but not one assembly sheet in the box. It's not to hard to figure out how it goes together and if you cannot figure it out perhaps you should not be working on motorcycles in the first placeThere also was no operation manual but once you get it together it's pretty obvious how it works. The bottle jack on mine was a tough fit as the holes were just a bit off too. As noted by others, the bolt that secures the pump pedal to the bottle jack is threaded into very thin pipe and is pretty useless. Mine stripped the threading before I got close to getting it tight. I did call the tech end of the company noting that mine stripped out and that it's just not sturdy enough and suggested just drilling the pipe out and including a longer bolt and nut with it. They made note of it.As others said, just hit the hardware store and get a longer bolt, drill on through the other side of the pump handle and put a nut on the other side of it.The handle to move the bike around has a questionable mount in my opinion but if you want to move the bike around once it's strapped down just push on the bike, it's not a big dealOf note, this is a large platform for biker bikes. My 650cc barely fits on the very large platform but it's very sturdy when it's in place.Of note the free shipping made this worth it as it's very heavy at around 80# or so and the normal shipping would have been almost $50.

Great space saver when you just want to do an oil change, brake job or tire change on your motorcycle. Pretty light for the amount of weight it will handle. I have used this on my softail many times as well as my dad's bagger. It is kind of nice to use this while fixing our kids bikes as well as it gets it enough off the ground and holds it in place. I would give it 5 stars but they probably could add another 3 or 4 inches to the stabilizers. I will say that I have not had an issue but am mindful not to bounce things around too much while on the jack.

UTV Lift
May 23, 2014
The lift worked good but it could be made to be a bit more stable. When you lift the jack up, the sliding scissors lift pulls to one side. This makes the lift less stable the higher you lift up. Still a good lift for the money.
Import Quality
May 9, 2013
This jack is exactly as I expected for an import quality product. The price was good, the product is adequate for what my use is. The only caution is that you should not be overconfident of the strength of this jack at its rated maximum, the steel is not as good quality as an American built jack, but for the price it is a bargain. I recommend this product and the seller with the one caveat that "you get what you pay for".

Works well after I repaired it.
April 20, 2014
This jack works fine but I had to do repairs. First it came with the roller bearings falling out of one side. Then the attaching holes that you bolt the handle to were stripped and I had to install a couple of self tapping bolts. Trying to get replacement parts or even schedule a return or exchange has be problematic. I seems impossible to contact Amazon and the website won't let me choose a reason for return and of course you can't move the process along without choosing a reason....the classic circular arguement.
it will do the job
January 29, 2014
The lift does the job, some features are a plus such as the low profile and longer pads for my Stryker. It moves great on the garage floor. The down sides to this lift are the stamped stops on the frame used release pressure of the hydraulic; they are punched from the frame and its not high enough to give me a peace of mind. I also had to bend the metal latch so it can line up with those notches on the frame. It leaves very little room for error. I got an extra part in the box that doesn't go anywhere. you have to be gentle with the handle as it tend to twist. For the price and pad size it is the best deal out there.
Motorcycle Lift
March 14, 2013
No problem with lifting or stability, all parts arrived, some assembly required, went together easy. HOWEVER! The foot pedal design and the type of valve used in this Chinese hydraulic jack gives almost no control on the rate of descent. The lack of control makes for very shaky and jerky movement. Called tech support, they have never heard of this kind of problem, offered to replace it, at 95 lbs, I decided to keep it and fix it myself. I designed and built a hand operated hand screw that applies subtle and controlled pressure to the foot pedal, to lower the load gradually. IT WORKS SLOWLY NOW! I read all 68 reviews after the fact and found 5 that warned of rapid lowering. Buyer beware!
Just like most of the other reviews..
March 3, 2013
Everyone is right about this product being cheaply made, but it seems to do the job. I was afraid that mine was not going to be able to be assembled properly since the jack mounting base didn't seem squarely aligned. But it worked out.I wouldn't pull the loaded jack with the handle, just like everyone else said, since it doesn't seem like it will be able to take the stress.I would also be concerned about whether this product has lead in the metal since China has been known to use it for a lot of products to keep costs down.In addition, two lock washers were missing, no big deal but they should have been included. From reading the other reviews, it seems like a hit-and-miss type of product. China's quality control seems to be about where the US was in the 1940s or so. As long as people are buying, no need to make a better quality product.
Not entirerly satisfied
November 19, 2012
My first impression when i received my 1545 Motercycle lift was,, I hope it is better on the inside then on the outside. The box it was packaged in was in terrible condition, torn on both sides and large holes in the middle of both sides. Opening the box and looking through the parts for dammage, I found that much of the paint and some of the lables were scratched off. It was shipped in poor condition. When putting it together, there were no instructions other than a parts diagram which in itself was suficient but to some it may have been difficult to understand. As far the the working ability of the jack, the only issue I have is, the lowering of the jack is too quick, and not very smooth so care must be taken when lowering your bike down to the floor. It did however lift and handle my 900Lb. Harley Ultra Classic with no problem.I would give this product a average rating , but would not suggest that it is great!!
otc 1545
October 6, 2012
I read the reviews on this jack and it sounded pretty good. I received mine on 9-15-12. When I received mine it was incomplete. The pin shaft and R pin were missing. So I can't give it a review since I'm still waiting for those parts. I called tech service and they said they would send me the parts when they get them sometime in Nov. So not a good review from me since I can't use it, already payed for it, and if lucky will get those parts sometime in Nov. Can't rate jack right now. Did receive the pin that was missing with org. pkg Nov 12. Had some trouble rolling it around due to the back wheels (ball bearing really loose, almost falling out). After I change out with other wheels it works fine. Can lift my Harley without holding on to it. Would like to rate higher then three but honestly can't.

dont go too high!
May 21, 2014
I use this stand quite often. The base is stable enough, but the top sways when any kind of lateral movement is applied. It is kind of scary if you have it extended more than four inches off the ground. I recommend it if you want a light weight portable jack, but if you are going to do any extensive maintenance, a pneumatic jack would be worth the investment.
Good value for the price.
August 28, 2013
Feels solid, works smoothly. It needs a stop to prevent full extension when handling the jack itself (scissors to full height when top plate is lifted). Excellent for occasional use, it would be annoying if used everyday.

Lower's to fast.
May 5, 2016
Once you release the pressure the bike comes down fast. There's no way to make come down slow.
Worked for a while...rapid decline and bad handle design.
January 10, 2016
I purchased this lift in Dec '12 and have used it for home garage use for lifting both small and larger Harley motorcycles only occasionally. As a few other reviewers have said this does go down fast and you really need another person (and/or to strap the bike to the lift) to ensure it safely returns to ground level. This is annoying and if you are not aware could put you and your bike at risk. The biggest issue i have with this lift is that I believe it has a design flaw. There are two bolts that attach the handle fitting to the lift. Early last year these came loose and when i tried to tighten they would not tighten and since the thread is in the frame of the lift there is no way to fix it. I have considered taking t somewhere and having it welded which it probably should be anyway as well as having the bolts go completely through the frame. This handle takes a lot of weight if you move the lift with the bike on it so in my view this is not a good design. I would not recommend this product due to the rapid decline and the bad handle attachment design.

Worked as advertised ! A little scratched from shipping . Packing not that good. Too much hassle to return for a few minor scratches that will eventually happen anyway if you are a serious wrencher. Handle broke second use. Screw holes not tapped correctly

March 3, 2014
I have a J&S jack for my HD Glide Ultra but I bought a sportster for a project bike and the J&S is just a bit wide and of course the sportster is about half the weight. So I figured this price point should be OK. The box arrived pretty trashed, but nothing appeared to be missing & assembly was straightforward. However, as others have said, it's very cheaply made, the steel is iffy & the retaining bar detents are downright scary. I also had to drill out the base of the jack to make the holes fit, though it shredded under the drill bit like balsa wood. Worst is the lowering valve, jerks dangerously at every touch and requires two people (my safety requirement) to operate. I'll be trying to fix that shortly or I'll have to find a another bottle jack to stick in there. It's too heavy to send back and to where, to China? Anyway, bottom line: spend a bit more money & get something made in the USA.
Quality control-none here
March 6, 2013
The jack came very soon after the order, so far no problem. Went to assemble it, it was very easy to put together, till I got to the bottle jack, the release plunger wouldn't work so it went up not down, so after thinking if I will send it to a service center 50 miles away, I looked it over, I had to remove the plunger and related parts, found it all full of crud after cleaning and re-oiling and a few hours later it worked ok. Not the best construction crude but it will work ok I'm sure. Buy American its better.
no quality control
August 6, 2012
The design for the lift is decent but, like everything else today,it's made in China. The lack of quality control in Chinese factories is a huge problem. The handle mounting stud ( a three inch long piece of round 3/4" steel) broke off the first time I tried moving the lift. The weld was cold with no penetration. After closer inspection I found two other welds with the same problem. Fortunately I have a mig welder and was able to fix the problem. Please dont throw anything away until you assemble and test the lift several times. Also be careful when lowering you're bike as the lift comes down hard and fast. The safety bar is also weak, I wouldnt trust it to take the weight of an 800 lb. bagger. Might want to try to find one made in the USA......good luck with that.

BAD design, flawed lift
July 15, 2016
When I tried to lower my motorcycle using this lift, it dropped so FAST, and HARD that my motorcycle almost fell off the jack!!! OTC is aware of the problem, but currently they do NOT have a fix for it!! They pretty much said deal with it, that's just the way it goes! I'm ready to throw this lift in the trash can.
Very poor design and not safe
March 17, 2015
I bought this motorcycle lift for my H-D Sportster. After I assembled it and torqued every nut and bolt to spec. It fit under the bike fine. The second time I used it to change my primary oil and adjust the case chain. The hydraulic jack foot pump pad slipped off and I'd have lost the bike except for very sturdy 30 year old MC tie-downs, forget using the cheap junk tie-downs. To make matters worse the T handle broke loose while lowering at the square mounting point on the frame. I inspected both the bolts and the boxed rail that attach to and found they just let go due to the poor quality of the steel. I was able to save the bike because it was a 500 lb Sportster not a Hog. I'm a stickler for safety this is a very poor and dangerous design.
A questionable purchase
November 21, 2014
Not too impressed with this lifts design and the fact that it was delivered missing a couple of washers and the bolts on the swing arm that secure it to the lift came off along with the arm while I was moving it around. (luckily without my bike on the stand). Fixed it with the appropriate sized bolts & the washers that it was missing that I purchased at my local hardware store.
OTC 1545 Retracts way too quickly
November 1, 2013
My only complaint is one that other have share as well. It retracts (comes down) way too quickly. It is practically a sudden drop, no matter how lightly to press the release pedal. If one presses the release pedal lightly, it shakes like crazy. This is no good when your motorcycle is on it.I just got off the phone with OTC Tools. They informed me all the OTC 1545 models do this. There is no adjustment mechanism to change the speed of the descent.I would suggest no one buy this lift for motorcycle use.
Poor Quality and Dangerously Fast Jack Retraction Speed
August 14, 2013
After reading some of the reviews of this lift, I was hesitant to purchase it. But it is the only one I found with a low enough clearance to get under my 2005 Harley Electra Glide.QUALITY/CRAFTSMANSHIP - POOR & SLOPPYAs previous raters have noted, the quality and craftsmanship on this lift are poor and sloppy. Several screw holes were not completely drilled through. I had to open them up myself to fit parts together. The handle had pieces of welding inside it which made it impossible to fit the handle around the base attachment piece until I shaved the handle out. Screw holes for attaching the pump to the base were drilled out of position, leaving the pump, pump handle and release pedal crooked when attached.OPERATION - DANGEROUSAs others have stated, no matter how carefully you depress the retraction pedal, the jack retracts at an uncontrollably fast pace. I have used other lifts and had no problem controlling the retraction speed. This lift has a design flaw that makes retraction unsafe. There is no way to control the speed of retraction. The only safe way to retract the jack and your motorcycle with any control is to continually tap the pedal momentarily. The jack and motorcycle jerk down in increments. I tried the lift on my '94 Harley Dyna Wide Glide, and retraction is uncomfortable at best. Tomorrow, I will try my '05 Electra Glide, which is heavier and much bigger. And I must say, I am a little nervous.BOTTOM LINE - I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ITEMI would not recommend this item for both the above reasons. I would have rated it a "2" based on its poor quality and craftsmanship, but I lowered my rating to a "1" because of the unsafe retraction speed.8/15/13 UPDATEToday I tested the lift on my 2005 Harley Electra Glide Ultra Classic. As I expected, the fork fit under the bike nicely. Lifting was fine, and the bike was stable. Lowering, as I had feared, was very difficult as there was no controlling the retraction speed (dangerously fast). Incrementally pulsing the pedal is the only way to safely lower the bike.Additionally, there is a guide on the bottom of the frame of my Electra Glide for Harley lifts. After lowering the lift (and bike) back down, the guide had cut right through the rubber on top of the lifting fork. The rubber on the fork is very cheap and thin and cannot withstand the pressure of the guide. I superglued the rubber back onto the fork, but it will not last. I'm certain I will be replacing it with a higher quality, durable rubber very soon.
Would be okay, except....
July 20, 2012
I bought this lift for my motorcycle and it would be okay except for two problems. The unit needs some assembly out of the box but there are no instructions on how to do this other than exploded parts view that came with it. Luckily I'm pretty good with pictures. Then when I went to assemble the long black handle onto the lift there is a small mounting bracket that you need to bolt to the lift first that the handle attaches to. The two bolts that came with this piece were not the correct size, or the mounting holes were not threaded properly, and so the bolts would not tighten. Instead they just spin around in the mounting holes for eternity. So there is no way to attach the handle to the lift, and thus no way to move the lift around the garage floor without pushing it while on my hands and knees. So, a trip to the hardware store later I have purchased two longer bolts and a couple of nuts and plan on drilling holes completely through the lift in order to secure the mounting bracket that way. Way to go, OTC. :-(

Choose Wisely
May 2, 2014
I purchased two of these lifts for a project on my motorcycle which is about 900 lbs. As another reviewer wrote, the same pin broke on one of my two scissor jacks. I was using two jacks to lift my 2008 ultra classic and the pin snapped on the back lift causing the bike to fall. If it was not on the other jack the bike would have dropped. I'm not too upset since my bike didn't drop, but for the pin to snap on a jack that is not maxed out says a lot about the quality of this lift. Spend more money for a higher quality lift, because these are junk.
cheap
May 20, 2013
The pin that holds the nut to the threaded screw that raises and holds the lift broke immediately. This caused the Harley to fall. How much more would it have cost to supply a hardened pin? They went cheap on the most vital part on the lift. Do not use this lift without first replacing the pin with a hardened one.
