Bought this to attach to the TV in my living room. It's smaller than the one I used to have, and the sound quality is better. This is also one of the few speaker systems with a remote control. But you might want to buy some RCA extension cables. Four of the five cables (permanently attached to the speakers) weren't long enough.

I needed a decent sound system for my man cave. I really like this speaker system. It actually gets very loud and I rarely have it about 40 (It goes to 50). There are separate buttons to add more to the base, surrounds, and front speakers. The only thing I don't like about the system is that the setting reset everytime you turn the system off. I have to turn the base up again each time. Now I just keep the system on at all times.

easy to connect, i use it to play my pc music and games it works great, but i want more power.yamaha is one of the best brands

This system is awesome. I am more than happy with it. It has nice crisp highs and nice powerful lows. It took a little tweaking to get everything perfect. Don't expect it to be awesome right out of the box. You need to dial in your sound. The factory presets were really lacking in the bass dept. Once I dove into the receiver settings and adjusted the volume of each speaker it really came alive.

Very nice sounding unit. Now I can understand what they are saying on TV. My old tunes sound like they should

What a great piece of technology, sound is very clear and you can connect a lot of devices.I use it for my PS3, XBOX 360, Ipod, smart tv, piano keyboard.The 3D pass really works, i tryed that playing COD black ops 2 and the picture quality was as good as playing with PS3 directly connected to the tv.I recommend this receiver a 100% and i give it two thumbs up!!Thank you Yamaha for this amazing home theater

Great surround sound system. I have it surrounding my bed in my room. hits surprisingly low for a 5 inch or 6 inch sub. Only two of the little speakers have long cords. The other three have shorter but decent length cords. That's my only complaint. I've had it for about 9 months and use it frequently and play it loud and I have not had any problems. The remote has crappy connection to the speaker though and it gets kind of annoying when trying to adjust bass and each speaker volume. Great buy otherwise

Some movies are blow away awesome with this system. Overall, not as powerful as some systems but great for the money.

Good product for the price. Pretty loud! Would buy again for sure. On the hindsight, wireless is definitely the way to go! The wires are a pain in the rear.

Great sound for a good value. We got this set to go with a new TV for movie watching. Has been great. Only grump, and not very significant, is that I wish the speakers were a bit smaller.

bought this item sometime back and thought it looked cool. it actually worked well for awhile; then i started having problems with it. turns out it doesn't work with my blu ray player (no audio) and the remote JUST wont work. i've changed the batteries many times. and still nothing. not sure whats causing these problems. has a pretty good sound when it works but i wont recommend this product.

Decent speakers for the price, the subwoofer is definitly sub-par however. That being said you can interchange the speakers with other systems or Daisy chain for average sound all around you with another system. That being said it's really only good for small rooms and areas. I've just found my new camping speaker system, not junk, but nothing for my home theater.

I purchased it to be used as a system for my living room unfortunately it just simply is not as loud as I wanted, also I had trouble getting all the speakers to work at one time I spent over a hour trying to set it up I finally rigged it enough that they would work but sometimes they just shut off randomly not a very good system the system looks good it is very small and it deffinately Is not 800w I believe they added a extra 0 to that lol more like 80w

I was originally very happy about the wonderful deal I found with this system. I don't know much about these systems but I thought it would be a good one for my boyfriend for Christmas. Overall it was a good purchase however, he would have preferred cordless first of all. Obviously that was my bad for not paying attention. Also it only works with tvs and thing with the color cords (red, white, yellow) and wouldn't work with his xbox hdmi hook up so he couldn't use it with his games like he wanted. We had to get an adapter cord (another $30) but I thought easier than returning it and still cheaper than other systems. Like I said, overall happy with the purchase but I wish I had payed a little more attention before deciding this was the one.

Could not use it: Sound plugs in modern TV set are not compatible with this system, or vice versa. Had to return it. Sorry.

My 8 year old Logitech Z5500 finally died so it was time for a replacement. Went to my local Best Buy and saw these and figured why not. I'm not sure if I got used to the Z5500 speakers or these are not broken in yet but they don't sound as good. These sound a bit flat. Hopefully after using it a few days they will sound better. The receiver seems good and super easy to setup. I was going crazy looking for the manual until I realized it was on a CD so I never actually used it. I was able to connect my Xbox One perfectly and tune in to a few local FM stations. I need to test the iPod / USB functions but good so far.

The system sounds good but I have to turn the volume up about two-thirds of the way to get average volume for a 12 x 16 room. Trying to get the Yamaha to work with other components such as an HDTV, Blu-ray player, DVR, etc proved somewhat difficult. My purchase was mainly to use for sound with my Panasonic HDTV but I have been unsuccessful in configuring the Audio Return Channel to work with the TV or for the TV and AVR to turn on/off together. The owner's manual on CD was worthless to me so I had to print out and bind a copy. Even with a paper copy, the manual is not very easy to follow. The front and rear speakers come with both a threaded insert and a keyhole for mounting. I found the threaded insert seemed a little flimsy and the speaker case flexed so my preferred mounting method did not work out for me. Altogether I am not really disappointed but then again I am not fully satisfied. I suppose this is about par for the price range.

I like the overall set up of the receiver. It is pretty easy to understand, however, I would like to see a full user manual to go over some of the sound options. The speakers were very nice for surround sound movie and gaming. However, I will be returning the system because I was disappointed in the sound quality when listening to music. It lacks a full clear sound (especially in the front speakers), and I thought it would be better for listening to music. I will probably be upgrading to a non-in the box set up, and build it a few pieces at a time. With this said, it might be very nice for someone who is only going to primarily use it for movies and is not extremely critical of fidelity of sound.

The speakers are small, cheap and of poor quality. I ended up buying some nice floor speakers to replace the fronts which worked nicely. The sub isn't too bad, and I use two of the four small speakers as surrounds in the rear. The tuner works well for HDMI switching and puts out enough power for the Onkyo SKF-4800 speakers I purchased as well.

product is a lot smaller than it looks and the fact that you have to use a thumb drive or sim card to use it makes it inconvenient.

I HAVE HAD OFF AND ON TROUBLE WITH IT AND I MIGHT END UP ORDING ANOTHER TYPE. THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT THAT GOOD.

So diffcicult to install, I have spent many times and I can't finish, does not bring any user guide ups, sorry but dont like that.

Complete junk, does not go very loud, my computer speakers work better. Do not recommend.

IT SUCKS!!!!!

One of the speakers came distorted. I mean its a good product for someone young and just wanting something to listen to music but nothing spectacular.

The system doesnt sound horrible but when it says the speakers are 100 watts each but arent and the reason i bought it was because it said the subwoofer is 300 watts but really its only 30 watts thats what it says on the magnet so dont purchase unless your not looking for anything real loud and pounding

The unit only answered the remote about half the time. The unit had a good sound. It was easy to use and easy to set up.

It is extremely low and when I have it maxed or even at vol 47 the bass sounds TERRIBLE! I would NOT reccommend anyone purchase this product. I hate it

System sucks, weakest 800 watt surround sound I have ever heard , do not buy

I want everyone to know that this is not a real company. There is no way to activate your warranty. Do not buy from this seller. Acoustic Audio Direct is a domain name up for bid to be bought. Run do not walk away from here. My car stereo puts out more than this.

Only had it for a week before the main speaker broke...luckily we figured out how to hook the other speakers up to a different system. I wouldn't buy it again.

Very poor (low) FM sensitivity. Needed to add an active antenna in a area known as of good FM reception!Mediocre speakers sound output!

Receiver unit was dead on arrival. I plugged it in after running all cables through walls (my mistake) and when i hit the power button, the unit clicked 2-3 times and never came on. The unit looks very nice, and the speakers look really good.
