Life Altering In a Very Good Way
October 9, 2015
My wife is a wheelchair user since 2012, and prior to our obtaining the KD Smart Chair we had relied primarily on a Quantum Q6 Edge for her mobility needs, and a cheap folding transport chair (non-powered) as a backup.

The KD Smart Chair has been life changing, both for my wife and for me as the caregiver. While the Q6 Edge chair is still her primary chair, the fact is that because we now have the KD Smart Chair we can participate more fully in "normal" life activities. The Q6 has a tare weight of just over 350 lbs, and is possible with much effort, time, and a 9 foot aluminum ramp to load into our vehicle (a 2015 Scion xB). I estimate that it takes me around 30 minutes start to finish to load the Q6 into the car, and an additional 30 minutes to offload. It is also a tricky operation to "creep" crawl that big beast down a steeply pitched aluminum ramp, and on more than one occasion I was worried that I might drive the chair off the ramp (I remotely operate the controller to maneuver the unoccupied chair up and down the aluminum ramp, but it is still often a hair raising experience). While the vehicle we purchased earlier in the year allowed for loading of the chair (relative to our '04 Prius, which was nearly impossible to use for caring for a disabled person), and gave us a new sense of freedom, my wife was not highly motivated to venture out by car because of the onerous nature of the chair loading/unloading process, so she remained somewhat cloistered in our home.

Enter the KD Smart Chair, which we received in the middle of August, 2015. This chair is only 50 lbs. I am 6' 2", so it is very easy for me to handle. It now takes me all of 5 minutes to fold up the chair and secure it in the back of the Scion (without the need for putting down the back seat, which is absolutely required for the Q6 tank), and off we go! Now my wife is more interested to go with me to the grocery store, or out to grab a bite to eat, or go to the Bay Trail, or any of a number of things that were simply missing from her life that able bodied people simply take for granted. It is this renewed capacity to participate in the more mundane, boring, "normal" part of life that is so life changing for a person who has been struck down by a disabling disease at an age when most people are participating in an active lifestyle. This also positively impacts our relationship since she now participates in decision making at these various tasks/activities, rather than simply having decisions made for her. All because of a chair. Remarkable.

Buy one. Hold back money in your flexible spending plan (if you have this type of benefit) and get the tax benefit. The chair isn't a full replacement for the Q6 (to be fair, the Q6 has full tilt and a leg extension module, so is a completely different tool in our arsenal for dealing with the disability; additionally I would avoid extremely steep grades with the KD chair, the Q6 has 6 points of contact with the ground, where the KD only has the 4 points, and the wheels and casters of the KD are more narrow than the Q6, but keep in mind that the KD is a folding wheelchair, not a battle ready San Francisco hill climber like the Q6, so you shouldn't expect the KD to be the same as the Q6), but for what the KD Smart Chair has done for our life, in spite of whatever sacrifices exist relative to the Q6 chair, the KD Smart Chair is well worth the money. Make sure to use a better seat cushion (we just use the Jay cushion from the Q6 chair, the cushion that comes with the KD Smart Chair is completely inadequate, sorry KD, but that needs improvement). One last point, it would be nice if there was a way to be able to adjust the armrests laterally, so that they aren't so wide. My wife is a petite woman (5' 4") and the current geometry of the armrests make her feel like she is sitting like a Roman Emperor, so that could be improved. Great start on a product that I hope will continue to evolve and improve over time.

We got our chair 7 days ago and love it!

Only negative is operating the head rest buttons. You have to push both buttons at the same time which leaves you with out a hand to push the headrest into the folded position.
Great electric chair.
August 17, 2015
I found a person using one of these and asked questions about it and I told my friends husband. He asked me to order it for him, which I did. We surprised his wife with it and she loves it. It's easy to set up and fold back up. And yes it's just a little bit bigger than a walker when folded. It's not covered my Medicare or insurance yet, but hoping that it will be soon. This is so much better than the mobility type chairs as this will fit in the trunk of a car.
This is an awesome chair. It is powerful and convenient
July 13, 2015
This is an awesome chair. It is powerful and convenient. Fits in my trunk or back seat. It is a little heavy but not bad. Took it on a trip to Sweden and it made life so much easier. Easy to setup and use. You will not be disappointed. Well worth the investment and it also looks cool. Will use it at school as I am a high school teacher. This will help keep me working a few me years.
One great chair.

Nice basket. Good quality.
January 29, 2016
This is a basket to have under my daughters chair. Not super easy to install, but you only do that once. Stiff enough to last a long time but easily folds with the chair. Straps are very strong and secure.
affordable wheelchair backpack
May 18, 2015
Great bag for your wheel chair. I bought this before going on a vacation. This bag holds a surprising amount of stuff, and is easy to take on and off of the back of your chair. It didn't bang into people's legs when they pushed me, and I could reach back and stick things in when I was alone. It wipes out easily and hardly takes up any room to store if you aren't using it.
It's simple but sturdy enough. It serves my daughter's purpose
March 17, 2015
Meet expectation. I was actually apprehensive about ordering this bag. I thought it may be too tight. It's simple but sturdy enough. It serves my daughter's purpose. It fits everything from her old bag and still has room for more: raincoat, school items, hand splints, extra clothing (light). I am buying at least one more to have just in case I can't find it again when we need it in the future. Its much better than all the other ones I look at Amazon.
Good shopping companion
February 27, 2015
This is capacious! Like most wheelchair bags it is not easily used by the occupant, but store clerks have an easy time adding purchases for me and I can empty it onto my bed. It is easy on and off the handles and remains in place surprisingly well. Definitely beats shopping bags hanging from one handle and interfering with a wheel. It keeps even heavy loads well balanced.
great

wife loves it. going to have to buy another one because of all the stuff women can find to stuff in it. great deal.
Transport chair backpack.
May 10, 2013
Reviews of several products indicated that this category is loaded with shoddy items, or ones that do not fit over the brake/handles of a transport chair. Not a problem with this unit, it seems to be very well made, and the attaching straps allow plenty of adjustment. Plus, being able to order it through Amazon made it much easier to do.

The chair is exactly as advertised
April 30, 2016
Still finding he use model to fit my needs. The chair is fine, just me trying to find when/where to employ it best.
Well-designed chair at a good price. I bought two
November 3, 2015
Well-designed chair at a good price. I bought two. One for the house, one for the SUV for when we're going places. When I was first shopping for a wheelchair, I thought I would have to install a lift in the back of the SUV, but this chair is light enough to simply pick up.

I would have rated this as five stars, but two inquiries I made to KD Healthcare - one about functionality, one about buying a replacement for a broken part - have been completely ignored and unanswered by the company after months. So if you expect any sort of after-purchase support, you might want to re-think buying this.
Good product but takes some practice.
October 21, 2015
The joy stick is very sensitive giving a jerky feel. Took some getting used to.
Too early for good review.
September 21, 2015
Have not really used it yet. Chair came with broken fender, Lenny at customer service said he would send me a replacement ( 9/2/15) still no replacement. Battery charge lights all come on together, hard to ell if battery is really charged or not. There is no auto shut off for charger when battery fully charged, manual warns of overcharging and damaging battery. I ask customer service to verify this but so far no response. I am disabled with no use of left hand and very limited use of left leg, my wife is a very small Asian ( 4' 11" /95 lbs), we have a hard time folding and unfolding and lifting it into back of our suv. I bought this to use when we go somewhere that requires a lot of walking and since our purchase we have not yet made a trip. I did do a test run in a parking lot one half of which was gravel and into a grass playing field, it performed well. I will try to write an update after having used it more, I did buy a carrier for the back of our suv for ease of transport.
Would recommend the Smart Chair

The footrest sticks out too far to get on and off but other then that an excellent chair. Easily folds to fit in my small car trunk.

January 29, 2017
A little bit floppy and it sags, but I got a ton of use out of it and it was a great for carrying wallet and keys etc. I used a metal clippy from the office as the main pocket doesnt have velcro or any means of closing the compartment. Doesn't interfere with the crutch or hand grip at all.
Very useful for us- did the job
November 7, 2016
Extremely useful for us. Preteen needed to use a wheelchair for several weeks and we needed to find a way to carry a textbook or two and a couple of items under the seat where he could reach them. (A backpack on the back of his seat was too heavy and damaging the chair, as well as not easy to reach. )This isn't perfect, but was strong enough for the job and wasn't too expensive.Although we were initially sent the wrong item ( a wheelchair cover)- Amazon sorted that out for us right away.
Easy Access Arm Tote
August 6, 2016
Easy Access was easy to put on my wheelchair. I liked the fact that it could fit my mini iPad and wallet. I didn't like to always be on guard to the outside pockets, you have to get a good of the outside to zipper it closed, and it was hanging lower than I thought it would.

July 14, 2016
It is a handy little bag. Doesn't work well with baskets that have handle. I like it because I can easily lift it and its contents out of the basket when I'm not using my scooter.
It Works, But Be Careful
May 31, 2016
Works ok, but since it's made to fit on the front it can shift the balance of the walker slightly if you have a good bit of weight in the basket. I used some hooks with velcro straps to mount it on the inside of the walker, and I like that better. But it would have been nice if this was designed to fit either way.

October 27, 2014
This is a perfect size to put under my son's wheelchair seat between the leg rests, it holds his wallet, camera, gum, and small writing tablet (for memory issues), and his gait belt inside a zipper pocket. Don't know about a power chair he has a manual. The only problem is the buckles were quite hard to get back hooked onto the chair. They would be much easier if they were velcro hook.Seems to be built and sewn good and works well so far with whatever he needs to carry in it.

January 20, 2016
A little hard to get in & out of. It is easy to get around in & also very comfortable.
Look twice.
August 17, 2015
Much heavier than expected and I cannot get it to fit in my trunk like I was told. I have to put the back seat down which makes going places with my 3 kids impossible to ride in one car. I've yet to use it outside my own home. Practically no usable accessories and no bag for airline transport traveling. That's the worst part IMO.
It's OK.
March 24, 2015
The chair works OK.
The footrest is short and does not protect your toes from bumping into things. It is quite noisy, especially when turning, it makes a grinding noise. After awhile this gets really old.
Se someone else mentioned the front wheels are quite small.

It is a good handbag for my disability scooter but only one thing the secure clamp I am having a lot of problems securing it in place it keeps sliding out you need to make a different locking mechanism salty locks in place and it does not move. I had to put a zip tie in place so it does not come loose. That is the only thing that I have having problems with otherwise it is a good bag. This is my honest review
Serves it's purpose
May 14, 2017
Received item in a reasonable amt of time. As my husband went to install it on his chair, we ran into avproblem. The hole the screw was to go thru was solid plastic, after 20 minutes of messing around with it we had to pull out the drill, drill a hole so the screw could go thru to connect. Once connected, serves it's purpose.....
Needs long arm rests to work well
August 7, 2016
The bag is alright. Looks sturdy, but not very attractive. The down side for us was that the latches are 8 inches apart, but the arm rests are about 9 inches long. You need arm rests that are about `12 inches or longer for it to work decently.
The bad thing is it has ladder buckles
May 29, 2016
The bad thing is it has ladder buckles. I never can get them threaded correctly. Also, they are a pain if you are traveling by air and need to take the pouch off and on to board the plane. I replaced them with some easy access push button buckles, but side release buckles would work, too. I would pay more if the buckles were easy to get on and off.
Great concept
December 9, 2015
The concept is great but there is no way to attach it so that it doesn't slide down and crumple up in a ball. You have to keep something large in it for it to maintain its shape. As long as I keep my phone in it (which I usually do) it will stay in position. I've never put more than my phone, keys, and card case in it. That adds just enough weight to the crutch that it doesn't become too uneven from the other crutch that it causes a problem.
Needs adapting
May 16, 2013
It's a good idea, but on the seat back of my Go-Go scooter it slides around and down. I've tried using bungie cords to hold it in place, but that hasn't worked well. I like the design idea (very roomy), but it appears it is really for a power chair with a larger seat, so I shall have to continue to search for a way to modify it to fit my scooter.

Long term use
March 3, 2016
This is an awesome product, but I've had mine for several years now and now I have to replace the wheels of the drive wheels. I've call the manufacturer and the told me I can't just replace the wheels and or rubber tire, they told me that I have to buy the entire assembly with motor. What a shame.
Good Chair w/Room for Improvement
December 21, 2015
Good chair that with some improvements can be better. Not sure if I will keep the chair. If I do, it will be a backup chair. My GoGo Elite will remain my primary chair as it gets me around much faster and can handle various terrains whereas this chair is better suited for flat terrain.Pros:- stylish chair - great attention getter!- weight is perfect for people who wish to load it in a car- battery lastsCons:- price - you can buy 2 scooters, 1 for indoor & 1 for outdoor, for less than the price of one of these- tedious getting over humps and bumps - many times I have to back up a distance and build up speed to go over bumps- if you can't move your legs on your own, the footrest will drive you crazy - transferring can be tedious- not stable going down ramps - front wheels tend to drift so advise caution on ramps- the leg guards don't seem very strong - my right one is already giving me issuesIt's not a bad chair but if you cannot walk at all there may be better options for a primary chair. I'd recommend it as a good backup though.

August 12, 2015
I am giving two stars not for the product itself that is what I expected and works pretty well. What is terrible is the Smart Chair customer assistance. Only a few months after getting the chair the plastic plug that is at the other end of the joystick cable cracked and was almost getting loose from the connector. If you break that connection the wheelchair will not work. When I contacted the customer support they said that they didn't have the plug available for replacement and I had to buy a new set of joystick and cable/plug for more than US$100. After several e-mail exchanges they said that they could get a new plug from China and send it to me so I could replace it doing some disassembling and soldering. Two years after that I still haven't received the plug and I still have my cracked plug glued with instant glue. Very recently I found the plug for sale at Amazon !!! I bought it for a few bucks and replaced the plug by myself. The chair is working perfectly. Another issue is that they do not have the rear wheels for replacement. If they get outworn you cannot by a new one.

I like the bag but the buckles need much improvement
September 23, 2017
I like the bag but the buckles need much improvement. I have to tie a knot in the strap so it doesn't slip back through the buckle. Surely there's another buckle design that will cinch up tight and stay in place. I kept it because I needed to start using it right away but if I wasn't needing it quickly I would have returned it.
Works, but suffers from a design flaw
July 3, 2017
Useful but suffer from a design flaw that causes the bag to sag down. So it would not mount the way it is shown in the photos, but rather you need to mount the top straps above the handle. This means the bag gets in the way of your hand and is more difficult to fill with large items like a water bottle.
Great bag BUT BE AWARE, you can't return it!
July 2, 2017
Great bag. I accidentally ordered 1 too many. BE AWARE: INELIGIBLE FOR RETURNS! I can't afford to throw away money. It seems many sellers are now doing this. Yes, great bag for me. Great. Finally a bag that works on my chair. But I won't be buying anything from them anymore. Not worth it. Sad. As anyone in a chair knows, it's hard to find a bag that works. We often must try a few before finding what works. Sad.
Slides off arm
January 26, 2017
I don't really like this because no matter how tight I try to make it, the back strap slides off the back of the arm and the bag droops. Anything in my bag usually falls out.
This is perfect for a paraplegic or someone who has good use ...
September 25, 2015
The bag is strong enough to hold all my things. This bag isn't designed for a quadruple. Even with the cables attached to the zipper, which broke in the first ten minutes, and the straps used to secure the bag to the wheelchair were put in the wrong place. It is very difficult to open the bag with the angle the zipper has to travel. The zipper should go straight across the top. At least this way we can open the bag. The straps should be attached at each end of the bag, not 3 or 4 inches in. When I try to strap the bag to my wheelchair, after pulling it around to get my wallet, I cant restrap the bag to the wheelchair. The straps are to close to the center of the bag to reach behind, grab the strap and put it on the handles of my wheelchair. This is perfect for a paraplegic or someone who has good use of their hands.
Does not fit on the Jazzy 600 without modifications
March 14, 2013
I love the bag, but I am having to make modifications to the mesh cover. I hope after the modification that I will be able to get the pack to fit, so I can put my charger and extension cord in, by my next flight. If you have a small power chair seat without a lot of padding it might fit. This is something that should be in the description or the mesh should be larger with the option to adjust to fit.

Be wary of smart chairs
July 13, 2017
I found it to be a cheaply made product. First of all it does not start immediately, you have to wait sometimes hours for the start light to come on. Secondly the tires literally fall apart and the arm rests break apart easily. When I contacted customer service about replacement parts I got no response back. I would never buy this product again.

Not for crutches, or I'm not understanding how this is suppose to be supported when attached.
September 11, 2017
I do not like to leave negative reviews, and I will change my review if I am missing something here, but this product is not for crutches. It doesn't have anything to hold the bag up on the crutches. I believe this could be useful for a walker, but not crutches, unless I'm missing a piece that comes with it to hold the bag up. Great idea, but I'm going to have to make some straps to have it be supported by the hand grip or return this item. If the Seller would like to give me instructions, or a picture of the back of this product and how it's attached in the picture, that may be helpful too. The middle velcro strap does not have a place to hold onto on the crutches.

August 18, 2017
Apparently the material rips very easily! I had this thing out of the box and on my crutches for a couple of hours before I noticed a big hole in it. (Most that time I was sitting with my crutches leaning on the wall beside me.) Granted the hole might have been there before I ever even unboxed it and I just didn't notice, but EITHER WAY it probably doesn't hold up that well to begin with if it didn't hold up during shipping and handling.
Doesnt work! Dont Buy!
June 13, 2017
These look great, but I have a pride mobility power chair for a family member and it's very hard to keep on the arm with just a simply, inexpensive 2 strap. The straps are far enough apart that the front end one falls off easily. It's also difficult to get them tight and keep them tight. I recommend caution. On the positive side, it has a lot of pockets good for finding small items easily lost in many saddle type bags My opinion.
Not designed for a crutch, won't stay up
April 20, 2017
I don't understand what this was designed for originally (not crutches)- has three Velcro loops for vertical attachment to sides, but nothing that attaches to the horizontal crossbar to hold it up, so just slides to bottom of crutch and things in it can all out cause bag slides down.
Disappointed
December 31, 2014
Was not what I expected. It was just a big floppy bag with no substance to it. Does not stand up right in a square attached to the wheelchair as shown in the picture.
