Full steam ahead with responsive customer service!
August 21, 2017
I bought this steamer just over two years ago, and have liked it much better than the model I had previously (which lasted over ten years). Steaming clothes is so much more efficient than ironing for most items. What I love about this model is the pole top which allowed me to hang up items on their hangers and then steam them without removing them from thier hangers. After two years the steam function still worked great, but the telescoping pole, that holds up the pole top literally fell to bits. I was so disappointed and went out and bought a new steamer in a different brand. Butt I really can't stand to use it because it has a built in hanger. I find it very inefficient with the new model to have to remove the garment I just steamed to put it on a hanger for the closet and risk creasing it again. The good news is that I called Steamfast customer service about the pole, and even though the warranty has expired, with a minimum of time and fuss, they are mailing a me replacement for the telescoping pole! I know I will be happily steaming with it again soon! Now, if I can just find my receipt to return the other one...The good news is I called the
Excellent product. I have gone through 3 TOBI's
June 16, 2017
Excellent product. I have gone through 3 TOBI's, which were pretty good for the money. The Steamfast SF=407 is less than half the cost of a TOBI and produces a better steam with very few water spots. In other words, it doesn't "spit" water. This unit is about 6 months old, being used everyday by me, my wife, and two kids, with very little loss in performance (It gurgles slightly more than when I first got it). TOTALLY recommend this unit!
Very Powerful and Fast Steamer
June 16, 2017
I read close to 100 reviews of various steamers before finally pulling the trigger and ordering this one. It's AMAZING! It gets SUPER hot and steams out wrinkles in everything from denim, to cotton shirts, to flouncy dresses. I hate ironing and have work in a business setting so steaming all my work shirts and tops is so painless now. I am using distilled water to ensure I get a good lifespan out of it and for the price and power I absolutely recommend.
THE BEST ADULT PURCHASE I HAVE MADE
August 19, 2016
Oh man was this worth every penny! Infact I have personally gone out of my way to recommend this to my friends. I am a performer who often doesn't have the time to stand there and iron things so being able to quickly steam something and run out the door makes this product worth every penny!
Does Exactly What It Should
September 23, 2013
Pros: Heats up and steams very quickly. Puts out a very good amount of very hot steam. Water reservoir holds plenty of water for multiple uses without having to be refilled. The collapsible/telescoping steamer head holder expands to a nice height, perfect for hanging clothes on a hanger while steaming. This also keeps condensation within the tube from collecting and restricting the flow of steam. The collapsible/telescoping holder collapses down to a very low profile, as well... great for storing when space is limited. Well made and sturdy. Does not feel cheep in any way. Power switch is a definite quality switch. Does not leak when reservoir is being refilled.Cons: Plastic tube feeding the steam from the unit to the steamer head gets pretty darn hot. Although it won't seriously burn you, if it touches your arm, you will know for sure! (I imagine this is the case with most steamers... but a cloth covering over the tube would be a nice feature... of course, we'd pay more for that, I'm sure)Summary: I'm very pleased with my purchase. I use it on a daily basis and can rely on it performing just as it should every time.
Skeptic at first...no longer. SteamFast is the best most affordable steamer out there
September 8, 2011
I am in love with this steamer. I previously owned a Rowenta Pro steamer for about 1.5 years before it went out. The thing I hated about the Rowenta was it didn't do continuous steam. It would heat up, steam for about 60 seconds and take another 90 seconds to heat up. When you are in a rush in the morning Rowenta is not for you. I looked and looked for a quality replacement that did what it advertised. Welcome to the SteamFast SF-04 1500 Watt Fabric Steamer. It heats up in less than a minute, and has continuous steam until the water is empty. I actually look forward to steaming my clothes....(don't tell my wife). I wear clothes I haven't worn in a year just because it was a pain to get the wrinkles out with the Rowenta. Even the most wrinkled clothes are no challenge for the SteamFast, it is amazing. Some critics may say it is poorly constructed. I will whole heartedly disagree, it isn't the most cosmetically appealing steamer out there but who cares? It sits in my closet or the laundry room where no one will see it and does exactly what it advertises. Shoots out powerful steam to get wrinkles out of your clothes. I bought this based on Amazon reviews and sure glad I did. If you can find a better value for your money please let me know. SteamFast is hands down the best and most affordable steamer out there.

This thing is so great. Discovering steamers was amazing - they are SO MUCH better than ironing. (I always seem to iron more wrinkles into my clothes than I get out). I only dislike the fact that unless you steam out every drop of water (which is pretty impossible to do and risks damaging the machine), it is super awkward trying to dump out the remaining water from the bottom portion. When I first got the steamer, this portion was full of dirt as well. All in all I'm willing to overlook these things though because the steamer makes life so much easier.

I had purchased a portable steamer for travel and liked it so much that I decided to get a larger one for home use. This totally fits the bill. I have trouble steaming the clothes while they are hanging from the pole as the hangar moves around. I use my ironing board and steam on that. It cuts my time in half verses ironing. Great on those thin or synthetic fabrics. My husband has some heavy twill shorts with embroidered designs on them. They took me forever to iron but with the steamer probably less than a minute. No one ever offers me free or discounted merchandise for my comments so you can be assured that these are my own thoughts!
This particular one is my second one that I bought because I traveled and my other better one was left in storage
March 18, 2016
I threw away my iron once I bought a Steamer b/c its so much easier to straighten clothing. This particular one is my second one that I bought because I traveled and my other better one was left in storage. I would still recommend this one b/c it did do it's job really well and the amount of delay for the heat was not much in between some times. Its also a good small size where you can take it along with you if your doing a function that requires you to steam. I would stay away from any small portable hand steamers though like the ones that fit in a girls medium purse, but to each their own.
Powerful and inexpensive
January 20, 2016
I've had my Steamfast SF407 for a little over 3 years now. It's been used multiple times a week since. For the price, this is a great steamer. Safe and more effective than ironing multiple times a week! Looking back I have no idea how I went without a steamer. Never wearing wrinkly clothes is awesome! The heat up is fast, faster than my Jiffy J-2000, which is a much more expensive steamer. The unit, for the price, is built fine. The telescopic pole is a little flimsy and a little too short in my opinion, but the hook provided to hang your garment on is easy to use. I also like the hook to hang the hose on when not in use. I prefer these hooks over my Jiffy J-2000. The included attachments make steaming easier provided you're using them for their intended purpose. Most modern steamers include castors which is a convenient. This unit should include some locking castors for use on hard smooth flooring.Onto maintenance issues...this unit WILL clog eventually if you use tap water. Do not use tap water, use de-mineralized water with any steamer. It is a pain to have to clean out a steamer when it could have been prevented. I did not listen to this advice in any manual I have read about steamers and today I cleaned out 3 years of mineral build up from my Steamfast. I will also be cleaning out my Jiffy J-2000. The Steamfast would produce steam steadily and then about 60 seconds in it would taper off to nothing. Figuring it was clogged I eventually just decided to take it apart today and see if I could clean it myself. No amount of vinegar steaming through this unit would do anything - HOURS of steaming with vinegar. From disassembly to cleaning to reassembly it took about 20 minutes. Easy peasy anyone can do it. Many pipe cleaners later it's working perfectly again. I included pictures of the before and after. It was disgusting. If you decide to take this unit apart yourself, be careful with the hose it, it could crack and they do not sell this part, they just want to sell you another unit! For the price this unit is absolutely worth it if you intend to take care of it. Steaming is easier, safer, and more efficient than ironing.
Must use distilled water
January 1, 2014
I've purchased several of these because I use them daily in my dress shop and they don't last more than a year.Don't drag them along by the hose as this may cause the hose to break off at the base.Putting anything but distilled water in them will ruin them very quickly as the excess calcium and salt buildup will clog and corrode the mechanism. Even with distilled water, you must drain and flush them out to remove the deposits after every 30 uses.If it starts to sputter and spit, that means you have excess deposits and it is time to clean it out. You will be amazed at how much crud comes out of it. I use a little CLR, but you may also use white vinegar to clean it AFTER you have first flushed it out. Don't let the acid sit too long and be sure to flush it completely to remove any acid residue before using.
Quick and easy - good value for the money
May 26, 2009
When I was a visual merchandiser for a retail store, I used a professional steamer nearly every day. I purchased this steamer based on price and user reviews. So far it has lived up to my expectations. It heats up quickly and I can get several garments done before I run out of water. Besides being lighter and made of plastic, it performs very similarly to professional grade (which cost 4 times as much). Two minor problems I have with this steamer - there are no brakes on the wheels so the steamer slides around while I'm steaming, and the telescoping pole isn't quite high enough for my taste. Most of the time I hang my garment on something else. Like with any steamer, it takes a little practice to really get good at it. A pointer for those new to steaming - place the steamer head on the inside of your garment pushing steam from inside to out. It's easier for you to handle everything that way (rather than steaming from the outside of the garment). Plus, I save a lot of steam burns by working this way!

Works great for the 1
June 23, 2017
Works great for the 1.5 yr lifespan I have now experienced with two of these units. First one I used tap water in daily so when it died I tried distilled water in the second one and cleaned on a regular basis only to have it die after 1.5 yrs too. For the price it's still not bad to replace every couple years, but would be five stars if it would last.
Get the Jiffy J-2000!
April 9, 2016
You should really, really only ever use distilled water in this unit. I ran filtered water through it a few times, and it became completely blocked with deposits. I had to disassemble the entire unit and clean each piece individually. Furthermore, I have to always be careful not to tip the unit over because it is so light. It did tip over once and the steam head shattered. Steamfast quickly replaced it under warranty (kudos), but I doubt I would have had the problem with the J-2000's metal head. The SF-407 gets the job done, but I really wish I would have bought the J-2000. I've had the SF-407 for roughly 6 months, and I can't imagine it lasting 3 years (the length of the J-2000 warranty). If you're on a tight budget and simply can't afford the J-2000, the SF-407 is a viable alternative if you take care to only ever use distilled water (no matter what) and never tip it over.
Overall it works, a few features could be improved
April 4, 2016
I was excited to receive my first steamer, so the moment it arrived I unpacked it, put it together and added distilled water (per instructions). It was easy to assemble, all the pieces fit neatly together and the instructions were easy to understand. It took me about half an hour to get the hang of steaming clothes. The first things I noticed were the extension pole you place your hanger and clothes on was rather low and the steamer hose seemed to get hung up on the pole making the hose shorter. I flipped the hanger/wand holder on the pole and then the clothes were too long for the pole and went over the machine itself a bit. The brush head did a nice job of removing lint from the garments. The heat was sufficient to get wrinkles out. There was water spitting out of the wand end and times the machine shut down after steaming for a while. The wand handle got hot and I had to give it a rest after each garment. The water did not last as long as it said in the instructions. I filled it two times in less than an hour. After I use it I stored it with the wand in the holder, once it cooled down the hose had a kink in it just inches from the connecting point on the machine. I reheated it and used it again to see if it would unkink and it did, however after a couple of uses the hose got a small hole in it from kinking. I sent it back.

March 30, 2016
This is the first steamer that I have purchased so I don't have other models to compare it to. IF your going to buy this you also need to buy the backing pad as its hopeless when you try to steam the end of say a sleave or the bottom of a skirt. I'd like it to be a bit taller as I find I have to bend a lot to steam my garmets - although these seem to be the standard size. The advertisment shows people steaming their curtains and fabrics.. well I had some new curtains to steam out and I had to put the steamer on a chair as the length of cord wasn't long enough to get to the top of my curtains.I'd also like it to have brakes so it doesn't follow me around on my wooden floors. Its good for sdoing things like the kids t-shirts and kids pants, although hanging them up to steam I may as well have used my iron. My husband doesnt like it for his work shirts as you just can't get the crisp clean iron feel you get from a reall iron.I do love it for my delicate silk tops and recommned it if yo have these.. For the price I think its value for money and I'm overall happy with the performance
Steam comes out in bursts, not steady stream. very frustrating
December 7, 2014
Having worked in retail for 10 years I use a steamer to get wrinkles out of clothes because it's fast, refreshes clothes, and so easy. No more ironing for me. I got this steamer and its really not reliable. Set it up, filled the tank with water and was really frustrated. Steam comes out in bursts, then stops and slows down so it's not effective. I tried shaking the unit, tried moving the hose around, which helps. It shouldn't be that hard to get consistent steam to come out. Its frustrating because you really don't know how these items work until you purchase it, and it would be a huge pain to return.
Depends what you use it for
April 9, 2012
The first time I used this, I must say I was ready to throw it out the window because even with the oven mit(foam pad) I kept burning myself. Now I know what you are thinking, you must be an idiot... and you may be right, but it takes some technique to get used to because the mit may redirect the steam to your wrist. If you wear a long sleeve shirt, you'll be fine. Now to performance. It's not going to give you the pressed look by any means and is useful on suit jackets, pants, drapes, and things of that nature. You cant put an item on the ironing board an use the steamer on it because it will leave water marks all over the place (unless you can somehow steam from undernead the ironing board but I don't have a clue how you'd manage that). There seems to be some people using this for dress shirts and some say it's impossible. I'm on the side that say you'd be better off with an iron and using a screen (Protective Ironing Pressing Pad 2-Pack - Household Essentials #128-0 Check this out for less than ten bucks, it's sooo much better in my opinion and worth trying before you buy this steamer... and no, I do not receive endorsements from this company). My girlfriend seems to like the steamer and was in fact using it on a blouse, but I honestly didn't like the way it came out.Tip: To help keep your garments flat, you can weigh it down (which makes the steamer a much more feasible option). How??? You choose... I took a hanger for pants (with two clips) and clipped it to the BOTTOM of the garment while it was hanging and put a 3 pound diving weight on the hanger's hook(remember, the hanger is upside down)... hope that makes sense. 1-2 pounds would be better because if the clips are weak they may not hold. And of course you don't need a diving weight, it's just what I had lying around, you could hang a wrench if need be.Be careful, it gets hot... and please, don't steam things that are on you. Seems obvious but watch out for the hose too. It's not so insulated that it stays cool. Hope this helps!!!

Serious Design Flaw
January 8, 2017
Major design flaw. The telescopic pole is too short, the hose is too short, and it tips over. This is my experience: Tried to use the telescopic pole to hang the shirt but when I would pull out the front of the shirt to get the steamer inside, the steamer started to tip over. Obviously that's not a good thing. I then tried to hang the shirt on the back of a door but then the hose was too short to reach the collar. It's just a headache. Definite design flaw. I'm returning it for sure.
Product seemed to work pretty well at first
August 1, 2016
Product seemed to work pretty well at first. It always heated water quickly and steamed clothes well. However, after about 3 years of use it suddenly stopped working. The device turns on but doesn't heat water. It's useless at this point since it doesn't create any steam. We actually have another steamer like this (a Japanese brand I don't remember the name) and have been using it for almost a decade. By comparison, the Steamfast is far inferior.
Very disappointed in this unit!!
June 29, 2015
After reading reviews about this product, it seemed like it was going to work well. I used it at least 5 times and each time, the steam didn't come out consistently. It gurgled a lot and I thought maybe I need to fill the reservoir to the maximum line and then more steam would come out. But NO, it didn't help. There wasn't enough steam that came out to even steam my clothes. Very disappointed that I returned the item. What's worse is, I think I may have received a used unit!! Before returning the unit, I had to empty out the water tank and upon doing that, I noticed there was a lot of calcium deposits. I only used distilled water, so where did all the sand like granules come from?? My only assumption is that it was probably used and returned by someone else and then re-shipped to me. My neighbor has a steamer and she purchased a Conair brand from Bed Bath & Beyond. I tried the Conair and there was A LOT of consistent steam that came out. I may go to BB&B and purchase that one.
then I recommend an iron if you want a nice pressed look
November 5, 2014
I bought this for my wife's clothes since I can't use an iron for them. If you wear dress shirts, then I recommend an iron if you want a nice pressed look. The steamer would be good for quick touch ups if your shirt isn't all wrinkly.Pros: Heats up quick, does a fairly good job with sweaters.Cons: The hose gets too damn hot. Water reservoir is made from very cheap plastic.I have owned this for 1 week and I'm returning it to Amazon because the hose gets too hot and I don't want to get burned by it. I have ordered the Salav steamer for $40 more because they have an insulated hose and have extra accessories and seems to be of good quality.
Unsafe for you and your clothing!
June 25, 2014
I did a lot of research before purchasing this steamer. I am beyond disappointed that the reviews for this product were overwhelmingly positive yet looking back all of the issues I had with the product were clearly expressed By people that rated it poorly. Please pay close attention to those that rated this steamer a 1-2 as they are 100% more accurate.Cons:1) the steamer does not produce even steam and starts.stops. It took longer to steam than it would to iron. 2) steamer spits water constantly on clothing, on me, on my upholstery. I did not not want to risk ruining clothing that gets water stained easily. Plus the water is hot, it hurts! 3) the hose gets unbearably hot to the point that it burned my leg when just brushing it lightly.Pros:Size and portability are nice. I like removable water tank. I like that you can steam for 45 mins. However the cons are just to great so back to the drawing board for me....
Good while it lasted.
September 2, 2013
I purchased this steamer about a year and a half ago. It worked very well initially, but has been performing poorly for about 6 months now (steam only lasted a few minutes and then stopped). Recently it stopped making steam completely and began leaking water onto the floor from the vent on the bottom of the unit (significant amounts of water... not just a little). I have attempted cleaning it with vinegar as instructed, but it still will not produce steam when turned on. I have only cleaned it a couple of times since I bought it, but I have used only distilled water in it since the day that I opened it.Even with a full water tank the base is not solid enough to support clothes with any weight to them at the top of the pole. I used a separate clothes rack to steam. The tank holds a decent amount of water, but it is difficult to fill (especially when pouring distilled water from a gallon jug).I will have to buy a new steamer, but I won't be getting a Steamfast this time around.

On/Off switch disintegrated
April 19, 2017
I bought this product in July of 2014 and used it a handful of times. While it steamed items OK, when I went to use it now April 2017 the on/off switch had literally melted and fell off, rendering it non-functional. Less then 3 years with extremely light use proves how cheaply this product is made.
Poor design, poor performance, melted after second use
December 28, 2014
The reservoir melted upon second use. From a functional standpoint, the hose is far too short for convenient use and requires placing the unit on a stool or table for most tasks. Additionally, I wasn't satisfied with the general performance and will be going back to an iron for now.
A terrible mistake
June 11, 2014
First of all, this product was shipped way later than any other products that I ordered in the past through Amazon.Second, the package arrived with the tape on the base of the box taken off. Seriously? I took it out. Each part of the steamer was wrapped in plastic bag, but it seemed like they were opened before; very poorly wrapped. I am amazed how it did not break (well, at least it seems like it did not break from the outside) when the box was not taped well.I tried the product - it seems like it is doing okay (definitely not the best), but the "rubber cord" part gets very, very, very hot that I am afraid it is going to catch a fire or something. Perhaps I got a defected one - will see if I can return it! Hate paying for return delivery fee. The worst experience ever ordering online.
Used one time, disappointed, returned.
August 7, 2013
I really wanted to believe this product would be good after seeing that there were more positive reviews than negative on here. Unfortunately, the product I received was definitely negative. I used it one time and the steam was inconsistent. Yes it heated up quickly, but after a few minutes it would stop producing steam; it seemed to be "catching up" with steam production. And like a few other reviewers have mentioned, it occasionally spurts water onto the garment that you are steaming.I used it one time and returned it immediately and purchased instead the Rowenta IS6200 Compact Valet Full Size Garment Steamer with Foot Operated On-Off Switch 1500 Watt, Blue I was hoping this one would deliver, and by golly, yes it did. The Rowenta does cost a little more, but its a much more consistent steam and sturdier product. You can almost feel the quality in the Rowenta. Hope this helps.
Compact but inefficient
September 14, 2012
Pros:takes up little roomheats fastworks great on 100% cottoneasily portablelong cordCons:poor quality (it BROKE)no control over steam (I didn't realize how beneficial this would have been until after using the product)does not work well on men's shirtstakes several extra passes to get the wrinkles outspits water onto clothesthe cord needs a wrap clip for storagesmall water reserve (keep this in mind when considering how much you steam)Only use distilled water with this unit.I used this steamer only a handful of times on mostly women's shirts after it proved inefficient on men's.Like other reviewers my steamer BROKE after limited use. THE HOSE BROKE AT THE CONNECTION TO THE STEAM DISPENSER inside the unit to where it could not be fixed. I tried to contact customer service but had NO LUCK in reaching them easily. It worked well enough on women's clothes but if you break down the price point comparative to the garments treated and time spent on each, THIS UNIT IS INEFFICIENT and overpriced.
After a month, only creates steam for 30 seconds
June 22, 2012
I bought this about 2 years ago, and still regret it. It works well for about 30 seconds, then it just stops producing steam. The reservoir is full, the switch is on and lit up, and the handle is up high, but it just stops steaming. It's very frustrating when two people need a shirt steamed before a night out, and you have to speed through them to make sure you have enough time to get both done before the steam stops flowing. Other people have complained about this so I know the one I have is not just broken.
