This thing is awesome I've had three different steamers. This is by far the best. I have had it now for a long time it still works the same and I haven't had to clean it I do use distilled water in it it heats up very fast that you wish they made the hose a little longer maybe a foot

April 20, 2017
I was looking for a professional steamer for my wedding and life. The J-2000 fit the bill perfectly. I have worked with the J-4000 as someone who worked in retail but wanted something a little smaller but by the Jiffy brand as their steamers are amazing. The J-2000 is very easy to fill with distilled water and provides about an hour to an hour and a half of steaming (all depends on the fabric you are steaming, Linen will really absorb the water and even with the j-4000, I was refilling it in about 45 minutes when our linen shipments arrived). Like the J-4000, it is easy to use and works so well. If you have not used a steamer before, take your time. Focus on the hard lines and steam inside and outside of the garment but be careful not to burn yourself. The hose will heat up and if you go inside of a garment you are not allowing the steam the ability to escape. I have not had the sputtering I sometimes had with the J-4000, so no hot water drops on my feet as I steam. The J-2000 heats quickly (with the J-4000 you allow the water to heat and them click it over to steam about a 20 minute process. the J-2000 is just a click on and it was steaming within 10 minutes.) and works beautifully. It has the power of the J-4000 without being as large. Great for around the house and smaller retail establishments. It steamed my veil beautifully and took the hard lines in the silk robes I picked up for my bridal party disappear so quickly. Excellent product, great brand, awesome smaller size. Who needs an iron with this!
A Great Gift
March 26, 2017
This is my favorite purchase for my house. I use it regularly to remove everyday wrinkles from my clothes. So easy to use and does a good job. Not only do I save a lot on dry cleaning but it extends the life of the fabrics. Buy one for those you love.

A review after 10 years: I have not used the less expensive steamers as much but bought this 10 years ago and it has met my use cases!- it still is working strong with no maintenance- i use this to steam my shirts and pants before I goto work. I have primarily shifted to iron free shirts. I steam under the shirt and all wrinkles are gone.- non iron shirts may not work well so I will still have to iron certain suit shirts for special occasions- my wife has bought in and uses it for a lot of her cotton work sweaters
revolutionary for an iron hater
September 13, 2014
i am so glad i invested in this sturdy piece of equipment. i never liked ironing and pretty much avoided it altogether, but knew my clothes would look better with a little help. this steamer is perfect for my needs - heats quickly, no plastic smell at all, good quantity of steam. as folks have said, there is a learning curve and a lot of the results are in proper technique, which is easy to deduce as one works with it. do take care with the metal coils of the hose near the unit as they get hot. different fabrics respond more or less quickly to the steam...and the look is more natural than a pressing. i do not care for the starched prim look anyway. i have had no problems and look forward to using the unit on my winter wardrobe. easier and more fun than ironing for me.
A time and money saver
June 13, 2013
I wish I could say I really take care of my clothes. More often than not, a skirt or suit that could be worn again before going to the cleaners ends up tossed on the floor. The steamer takes the wrinkles right out, and saves me from another trip to the drycleaner just to get rid of creases.I hate ironing, and this steamer helps me maintain a polished professional appearance. I keep this in my closet and just flick the switch a few minutes before I need to get dressed. Once it's heated up, the steam is continuous- you don't push a button to make the steam come out- and I can finish steaming a full outfit in about 5 minutes. It's a bit harder to use than a steamer with a button that releases steam. You have to have everything ready to go when you turn it on, otherwise you'll just be humidifying your room.

Honestly I had a $60 steamer after two years it breaks just like all the other $60 steamers so I decided to invest in this one it's really not that much different I probably should've just stuck to the $60 one

Great steamer, I wish the cord was a bit longer. The hanger isn't really high enough, but if it was any higher then the cord wouldn't reach properly. Puts out good steam, large water container -- seems like it should also be easy to run some cleaner through. If you are using a handheld, this will make you so much happier.

Quality but missing muscle
April 30, 2014
I was hoping to replace a Rowenta large steamer after three years of constant use. Since it was discontinued and I went to BB&B to view the similar priced replacement. I was disappointed that it lacked the same quality. The reviews on the Jiffy J-2000 were all favorable so I took the leap of faith. It arrived promptly and in great condition. It was assembled easily and I was impressed with the far superior metal parts and sturdiness of the smaller Jiffy steamer compared to the old Rowenta. The magnetic wrench under the unit blew me away and I was thinking this baby has the old one beat. Maybe due to only 1300 watts it doesn't force as much steam through the plastic head . The Rowenta had a surge that was irritating when it would pause to reload water. I've used nothing but distilled water thinking that's what killed my old steamer, but it lacks the same horsepower. The real positive is there is no pause. A constant flow steamer that is well built. It looks like it will last until I retire from the need for pressed clothes daily, but not as good as the old standard. This is worth the money.
Great steamer!
September 10, 2013
I will admit i haven't owned this product for very long. I purchased it in September of 2013. So far I love the the product. Based on reading the reviews I decided to spend the extra money and get the steamer with the metal head. While I can't say if it produces more steam then the plastic model; I can say I like that the metal head retains the heat making it act more like an iron. This is not a substitute for an iron though if you like the crisp lines that an iron provides then stick with the iron. This is just a quick way to remove wrinkles from my shirts and work pants. I'm sure with practice I could get the creases I want on the pants, but for now i'm fine with just a wrinkle free pant. The metal head is heavy so which may come into factor if you plan on using it for longer periods. I feel as though with the weight and materials used that this is well made.
Nice..but not miraculous
January 27, 2012
I am a bachelor and have avoided ironing for a long time, just picking out business casual, permanent press clothes and getting them hot out of the dryer. Got rid of my 20 year old dryer thinking that things should have probably advanced during that time.Turns out my $1000 steam dryer did a worse job of taking out my clothes wrinkles than my 20 year old one did. I am very disappointed in that. Ugh. I messed up the magic balance. So, after fiddling with the steam dryer to no avail (ugh), I purchased this baby. I really have gotten used to not ironing and don't feel like giving up that time again. Was ready for this steamer to solve all my problems and... it is okay. It is like twice as fast as a steam iron and doesn't really require an ironing board, although the finished clothes don't look as nice. Still not as good as my 20 year old dryer...what a waste. This is nice enough though. Takes slightly longer than I expected to start producing steam (4 mins or so) and doesn't remove 100% of wrinkles without some effort.Your mileage may differ. My goals of easy bachelor iron-less-ness are not the same as everyone else's.

Pulls A LOT of power!!
October 6, 2017
No fault of design, this item pulls lots of power, be mindful when lots of items are plugged in!Tripped the entire breaker panel once I plugged this in while a DJ was testing equipment (separate circuits)!!!I own a wedding&events business, we do catering, rentals, decor, set up, etc. I bought this as an upgrade to my residential steamers. It lasts longer, that's for sure, over an hour before I had to refill. The hose is short, and not very flexible. The wooden handle is very nice, stays cool to the touch!Still getting used to it. I like it, but not sure it's worth the huge investment except for long term. For occasional use or home use, buy a cheaper steamer. For commercial use, something like this is great.
Not as good as expected
September 29, 2017
It's ok but does not work as well as my wife's previous garment steamer. This one seems to take a lot longer to remove wrinkles.
And I don't feel like risking spending time and effort testing other competitive products
April 4, 2016
Honestly, I don't know what the big fuss is about this product. I have not tried other cleaners, so it's hard for me to compare, but1) it's taking a bit longer to steam a shirt than i expected2) it does not straighten the wrinkles as well as I thought it would (still some wrinkles remain)3) it takes more than a minute to fully steam up4) the steam does not seem strong enough, so that i have to keep steaming the same place many times, and often it just gets wet instead5) you need to buy a glove to hold the shirts, cause you will burn your hand (probably problem with all steamers)Overall, it's still easier and faster than ironing. And I don't feel like risking spending time and effort testing other competitive products, especially because hard for me to tell that they would be any better (reading the reviews, it seems they might be worse), so I am keeping the jiffy's.I just wish they improve on this technology "SIGNIFICANTLY" in the future, and I will be all-over the upgrade. But considering they had this same model for decades, I doubt they will change it.
Metal steam head is too heavy
July 2, 2014
The fabric steamer works well, but the metal steam head was just too heavy to be comfortably held for long periods of time. My hand was tired after steaming a few garments. Originally my family bought the one with the metal steam head since for around $40 we thought it would come with extra head attachments (but the product description is not well written so it actually only comes with the metal head). Going to return it for the steamer with the plastic head!
Needs clamps to hold clothes better
February 22, 2014
The steamer works well, but the rod that you're supposed to hang your clothes from leaves a lot to be desired. If you put your clothes on a hanger and then hang the hanger on the pole it's very difficult to steam the clothes bc they flop all over the place. You have to use your hand to hold the clothes steady and stretched out, and that makes the process very clumsy. I've seen other steamers that have clamps at the top and bottom of the pole to secure the clothes, and I think that would make this one easier to use.
Not a good alternative to ironing clothes. But an overall good product.
February 17, 2014
I was really hoping this would be a good replacement for my iron. It's not. The steamer requires just as much effort as ironing does. You really need to pull on your shirts and pants as you iron them, otherwise, it doesn't remove the wrinkles. It can be a bit of a hassle to be honest, but with a bit of practice, it works well. I still use this steamer instead of my iron.I have used this steamer for other things, such as steaming cleaning my couch cushions, and I think it works very well in that respect.

Do not buy.
October 1, 2017
I have had multiple steamers throughout the years and had high hopes for this one. It appeared to be well constructed when it arrived. Actually I ordered this model due to to the long hose that came with it even though it had no hose cover. My biggest complaint is that the steam cycles way to often. You spend alot of time in the middle of a garment waiting for the steam to return and also the penetration is not very impressive. Unpaid extra for the metal head which was a mistake. Too heavy and the wood handle is not very comfortable. I thought I we upgrading from my previous "cheaper" steamer but I wish I had made A different choice then this one so be aware.

September 16, 2016
Returned the steamer and went with a Rowenta. The steamer is great for heavy duty steaming but the handle is very heavy and the hose is stiff and does not have a fabric covering so it is very hot to the touch. Also the base is not that stable on the narrow wheels.
Well Made but Isn't Worth the Cost
December 27, 2014
This product was well made but did not perform any better than a hand held steam iron. We have used a regular steam iron on clothes for years and wanted something lighter that works faster but was disappointed in the performance of this product. We returned the steamer for a full refund and went back to the steam iron.
Still need an iron after use
June 14, 2014
Thought this would eliminate or significantly reduce my time ironing after pulling clothes straight from the dryer. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Especially for collars, and creases, you still need an iron. Very disappointed with this purchase.
Handle does get hot, hose gets even hotter. Ouch!
October 27, 2013
I "upgraded" from a cheaper brand of upright steamer with an attached brush that I used for 2 years without harming myself. I wanted to love this Jiffy, but the plastic steam head does get too hot to steam multiple garments. Worse still, the black plastic hose gets hot enough to hurt on bare arms and legs. I changed my directional mode of operation from "top to bottom" of garments to "bottom up" to minimize number of times I have been burned by puffs of steam. Exercise caution to direct steam away from garment openings (like sleeve cuffs) as you can be burned by steam as it escapes if you steam in the direction of the opening. BTW-Handle seems too short for even small hands. A longer hose would be desirable if it were INSULATED. Unit "splurts" minor water drops onto fabrics (and hands). On the positive side: This unit produces steady steam for long periods--w/o the long gurgling pauses for reheating and frequent tank refills of my cheaper unit. It is compact and sturdy and the appearance is utilitarian, but just fine. Two stars make me feel like Ebenezer Scrooge, but for the premium price I expected an excellent experience. Should have packed it up for a return, but dallied too long.

I didn't find this steamer to work at all. Used it on garments and curtains... didn't seem to take out any wrinkles. Unfortunately I was out of town when it was delivered.. and by the time I had a chance to try it out, I was informed that it was not eligible for return.
I purchased both the travel version and the full size and don't like either save for the pink color
June 18, 2016
I don't understand the stellar reviews. My experience has been totally disappointing! I purchased both the travel version and the full size and don't like either save for the pink color. This doesn't steam nearly as well as my much less expensive Conair that I previously used. I had to have the water reservoir replaced because it leaked from under the unit onto the floor. Jiffy did replace it promptly which resolved that issue. However, while steaming clothes, water leaks on to the garments. So aggravating! The steam is not really that strong. Very disappointed. Too late to return, will probably try to sell on Craig's list or donate to Goodwill. Strongly dislike and do not recommend.
Disappointed!
January 30, 2016
Received an Amazon warehouse used unit today, designated as excellent condition. It definitely wasn't as steam came out about every ten minutes, then would totally peter out to nothing. Have returned it today and am deeply disappointed with the unit. Won't be ordering another one. Incidentally, when it was steaming, it only weakly took out the wrinkles from an Oxford blue shirt, particularly from the wrinkled shirt sleeves. Could have ironed it quicker.
It just doesn't work to remove wrinkles
April 30, 2015
I've used this several times on several types of fabric shirts and pants. The bottom line: It doesn't work. After 20 minutes of using this on a regular cotton dress shirt there is almost NO noticeable difference when compared to the shirt before I started using this steamer on it. It simply doesn't seem to remove or reduce wrinkles of any kind. For a fraction of the price you can by a iron that does a much better job in a fraction of the time. This purchase was a waste of money.
Didn't work for me.
August 16, 2014
This unit would not take wrinkles out of dress pant legs. I tried it on eight pair and had no luck. It worked better on a hand wash thin silk blouse but only average. I spent at least one and a half hours working with it. I think my steam iron works better. I am sending it back:(
