love this stove
Two years later, still loving it
December 20, 2016
Purchased this 2 years ago and still loving it! This was my first double oven and I use both ovens all the time! I like having the larger oven on the bottom. It's very easy to get things in and put of both ovens. The smaller top oven has a slide rack.I have not had any problems and would buy it again. My first purchase of a big item like this from Amazon, and it was a breeze.
Very Functional.

Great stove

Love it- easy to clean, cooks well! Very happy with two ovens...sizes great!Went from a gas stove with heavy grates that was difficult to keep clean. Highly recommend this stove.
Best range ever!
February 7, 2014
This stove is expensive and it is worth every penny. The design is incredible: from the top which rests on adjacent cabinets (nothing falls down the cracks!) to the double ovens which are both self-cleaning; the convection oven; huge glass windows to see in the ovens; expandable burners; warming burner; intuitive controls. The engineer(s) thought of everything.I thought I would miss an oven drawer. Not! Having 2 ovens is so much better.Everything on this range just flat works. And it even comes with a printed Users Manual! You don't have to fire up your laptop to see how it works. Love this company.

Electric Fireplace
November 17, 2016
I purchased this for my son in law and daughter and they really like it. I think it heats the small room very well where they have put it. It adds a cozy factor too. I have one in my back bedroom and it definitely adds cozy and heats up well, although it is a different brand.
Cute and functional little "woodstove"!
March 7, 2016
I ordered this little "woodstove" for a small room in the house that tends to be a bit chilly in the winter. I wanted something functional and decorative - this fits the bill perfectly!

The only negative (if it's even an issue) is the heating portion of the stove is on the bottom. This version of the Duraflame stove is very compact and the box almost touched the carpet fibers. I wasn't sure if this would be a safety hazard or not. To solve this simple problem, I added two extra tiles we had left over from a bathroom re-model underneath the stove. Not only does it protect the floor from any possible heat damage, it adds to the "feel" of a real woodstove.
I love this little electric stove
January 24, 2016
I love this little electric stove; I purchased mine on Warehouse deals, had some Amazon credit card points so this stove cost me little. The stove puts out a great deal of heat and a 30 by 10 foot room is easily heated. Love the pretty glow of the artificial flame and log--it adds such a nice touch, especially on cold snowy days! Highly recommend!
Much better than expected!
October 4, 2014
I bought this little stove for extra heat in my bedroom this winter, since I live in a historical cottage in the Tennessee mountains. But my main heater isn't online yet, and this morning its 47 degrees out. This is definitely taking the chill out of the air in my large, high ceilinged living room! Its small enough to fit anywhere, is easily portable from room to room, and is working really well. The "fireplace" lights are hysterically tacky, but they are growing on me. It has a blower at the base that makes minimal noise, came completely assembled, and after about the first 10 minutes, the new heater odor is completely gone. They had this model at my local Lowes for 99.00, but with shipping and everything, I got this model at Amazon for 84.00. It is well worth the price.
A warm and friendly little stove
December 14, 2011
This is the sweetest little stove that you could ever want! It is all that it says and the "show" is great! It really is very impressive.
The quality of the workmanship is good. It heats up a room 10x15 in about 15 minutes, at which point you can turn the heat down to almost
nothing or turn it off and just leave the "flames burning". I do like the fact that it does heat quickly, it saves a lot of money in the
long run because you can turn it down or off. The odor that many spoke of when you first turn it on is minimal and burns off quickly, by the second use, there was none at all. There is a big notice on the box that there will be a slight smell when first turned on, so the manufacturer is up front about it. I can really recommend this product for the ambiance that it gives to a room and for its quick heat up of a room. I actually used this for a Christmas party, the room was chilly, I heated the room and by the time my guests did arrive, everyone commented about the adorable little stove! Since I live in an NYC apartment and have no access to a fireplace, this really does
make the place warm and friendly. A great buy at a really great price. I have seen other such products at much more and not halfway as nice.

Very good product.
April 4, 2017
I had trouble installing it because of the depth of the unit. It has a protrusion on the back for venting. Otherwise I am very pleased with the stove. Yes, I would recommend it to friends.

Touchy Controls
April 9, 2014
While it took them almost a month to deliver what was promised within 10 days, once we got this stove it was pretty much as advertised. I've never seen a pot of water boil so quickly, not even on a gas stove. The only two negatives so far are: 1) the controls are so sensitive that I accidently shut off a burning quite often. Hopefully I can train myself to avoid that; 2) The cook top is already showing imperfections. Despite being very careful not to let spills or splatters sit, it already doesn't look brand new, and yes I've been careful to use the cleaner and pad provided with the stove.
Sleek and stylish Range
April 5, 2014
The delivery occurred in less time than expected which is commendable. I was given a window between March 11 Mar 26. The stove arrived on Mar 14 from New York to Ohio during a snow storm.I've had the stove less than a month but the burners heat up much faster than my old stove which had coil burners. Please note: I haven't used the bottom oven but the upper oven more than adequately meets my current needs. It should be noted however that is difficut to pull-out the lower rack (on the upper oven) when set at the lowest point without running the risk of burning your knuckles on the oven door. Unlike the bottom oven that has an extension rack that slides, this feature is not offered for the upper oven.On this model the bake/heating element is under the oven floor. Manufacturer's recommendation is that "grease all oven rack side edges with a light coating of vegetable oil after cleaning them by hand or in the oven to maintain the ease of sliding in out the oven. Also, note you should be sure you have the right pans for the cooktop and oven for radiant glass cooktop. Stainless steel, aluminum and copper bottom is recommended (porcelain enamel on cast iron only recommend if bottom of pan is coated). Not recommended - porcelain enal on steel, glass-ceramic, stoneware and cast-iron ubless specifically for glass cooktops. Flat-bottom woks, okay.I'm still not finished reading the instructions but i must say I love this stove. It has five burner elements. One for just keeping things warm...like the teakettle. I love my new stove.

The imitation flame is a nice touch. It is very small
December 25, 2016
This was a breeze to set up...just take it out of the box and plug it in. I thought I'd at least have to install the feet, but they were already in place. I plugged it in and it fired right up and put off immediate heat. I only had to leave it one for about 20 minutes to heat up my family room, which is downstairs and it is always cold. The imitation flame is a nice touch. It is very small, but the measurements were clearly defined so I wasn't taken off guard. I've only used it once, but so far, so good. I will update if I have any issues.

March 1, 2016
Has that element of faux/fake to it, but still looks okay and has a whimsical element to it. I got it for the basement. I'd probably go for something a bit higher in quality for living area/bedroom, but if this blends in with existing furnishings, would be just fine. It's easy to move around and gives a warm cozy feel when running that you can't get from a regular heater. It's when its turned off that you can see the still image of the fire that it feels more fake.

January 23, 2016
We are happy with the Duraflame Electric Stove overall and would recommend it to others. We've only purchased it since the 2015 winter season but it's holding up nicely with no issues.

The good:
1) It heats up quickly (best for a small/medium area) - not a substitute to heat your entire house
2) Despite the outside being plastic, the body doesn't get hot or overheated, so you can quickly move it to another area of the house if needed
3) It's really cute versus other tower heater options

Features to improve:
1) No timer, so it runs until you stop it
2) It's a little bit loud, but definitely not overly so - just makes a whirring sound as others have mentioned
Adorable Little Heater
May 12, 2015
This heater is so adorable. I live in a single wide mobile home so of course I have very little square footage. The heater/ac unit didn't work to well in heating up the rooms. So I bought this back in December to help out. Well it worked so well to heat 3/4's of the house that I used it instead of the heater for the rest of the winter. I really liked the fake flame look, it gives a cozy feeling. The light bulb rotates to give that flame rising look, but the back of my unit wasn't completely sealed so you can see the light coming out of the back. The one I got had a warped section on the inside by the fake wood, but that's no biggie. No one can see it with the cover closed. Still and all it worked well for me.
Needed space heating and wanted a light show.
January 17, 2014
Very pleased with this purchase. The heater has to be kept on low or my bedroom overheats quickly. The fireplace effect is nice and I enjoy the flickering lights as I go to sleep. Got one for my mother for her sunroom in the winter and she loves it.

One of my best friends also purchased this on my recommendation and she loves hers as well. She lives in a 100 year old farm house and it really goes well with the architecture of the place.

Complaints: With this latest model you have to have the lights on to run the heater and the lights are NOT adjustable as with earlier models. Can be a little noisy, but not too bad. And yes, it is made with too much plastic. It would be sturdier with a slightly thicker material.

Burners turn on too easily by just leaning over the stove.
September 10, 2016
I love this stove, but it does have one very big flaw. If you don't lock out the burners after you use the stove and you lean over the stove to get something out of the cupboard or the microwave, the stove will automatically turn on. I had purchased one of these stoves in April of 2013 and in February of 2014 I had a major fire because I had reached across the stove for the salt shaker and I did not have the burner lock on and one of the burners turned on to hi and I didn't catch it. I had a pan of grease sitting on that burner and it caused a major grease fire that nearly burned my entire home to the ground. My home was saved, but I lost everything in my home. I purchased this same stove again after the fire because I love this stove so much, but I am extremely careful now to lock the burners. GE needs to design this differently so that these burners do not turn on automatically. With the lockout feature, you have to hold that down for approximately 3-5 seconds to turn the lock on and off. I think the burners should be designed the same way. That would probably prevent them from turning on if you lean over the stove for whatever reason. I wanted to buy the model with knobs this time instead of the electronic controls, but the front panel was made, but the front panel was made of plastic rather than glass. I wanted the quality of the glass and not the cheap plastic, so I was stuck getting the electronic controls again, because that was the only model where I could get the glass front panel.
Not what I had in mind

I found this tough to use. I bought it for baking but I found it not suitable for cakes.

Much louder than expected
March 5, 2017
Noisy little heater. With just the flames, it makes a rhythmic racket like a distant woodpecker. When you turn on the heater, it sounds like a vacuum. Much louder than expected. But it puts out some heat.
Mine sucked. My friend's is perfect.
April 8, 2016
I purchased this heater after admiring my close friend's heater for several months. It always worked extremely well and was adorable. After using it a month as recommended by the manufacturer's instructions, the flame stopped working. I sucked it up knowing it's still nice and it heats my room. However today, just 2 months, it doesn't work at all except to light up (without the animated flame visuals of course).

That being said, my friend has had hers well over a year and it is working perfectly. I'm repurchased as I'm sure it's a one off situation.

This keeps popping my circuit breakers. Need to do further research to figure out what the problem is. Didn't notice any odor and the fan doesn't bother me. The "flame effect is a little cheesy, but hey my dog likes to sleep in front of it.
Nice little heater, but electric heat is expensive.
December 15, 2014
Nice for heating small areas. The look creates a bit of a cozy feeling. Be aware, however; this is an electric heater. It will increase your electric bill considerably if used much. I watched my meter dial spin around the moment I turned it on. The concept of decreasing your home heating costs by using this where you spend most of your time is only true if you heat your home with electric. If you have a gas furnace, you're probably better to leave it on and have the whole house heated for probably the same cost. Because it's electric heat, it's also drying to the air. I use it only when bitter cold, and then turn it off as soon as I'm able. For what it's supposed to do, it's fine. Just realize electric heat is very expensive.
All plastic case - looks good in a dark room
December 13, 2013
As soon as I opened the package I noted one of the plastic legs broken. Next, the door was off its hinge and I was unable to pop it back in. The unit looks attractive in the picture, however in real life it leaves you wanting for better quality. I am not sure how long the units life expectancy is, but it does put out a fair amount of heat. Nothing too strong, but enough to warm a small to medium size room. The actual blower sits very close to the floor, so I would not recommend to people with thick carpets just in case of emergency. The bottom is not hot to the touch so It would be safe enough.

All in all its a decent little unit, but I would probably go with an Infrared Heater that uses less wattage and covers a greater area and one that has a more sturdy exterior. Also the price dropped immediately after purchasing the item. Amazon agreed to refund me the price difference. :)

The front controls are not made for short people. They easily get bumped and shut off without realizing it. I just put in 2 5LB Hog Maws discovering 2 hours later the control got turned off while cleaning up the mess. If you use the control locks the temperature does not show and then again is it on or off. I would sell it if I had a buyer only 3 months old.

This is a great heater and the display is very nice
December 28, 2016
This is a great heater and the display is very nice. However, the dial control is basically worthless. Yes, it turns the heat on and off... whenever it wants no matter the ambient temperature. On a nice day, it will randomly turn itself on at 75 and on chilly days it will cut off at 62. I got it to use it as a wood stove back up but it requires manual operation too.

Two months of use, display is inoperable.
Terribble!!!
January 6, 2016
It was great in the beginning, for the first week maybe two. Then all the sudden I have it cranked up and doesn't put out any heat. I could put my hand directly on the bottom and it just keeps my hands warm. I have a 20 square foot room and it doesn't heat for crap!!!!

July 29, 2015
It's cute but I didn't find it functional at all. I had to sit really close to feel the heat. The air only blew from the bottom, so it only warmed mostly your feet. Sometimes the air coming out wasn't warm at all. And I received a high electric bill afterwards. Had to return it.
Pretty, But Not Much Warmth
December 5, 2014
So far this stove is a bit of a bummer. I like that it's small and lightweight. Also, for an electric it's pretty quiet (it hums on high but not loudly like some fan/ceramic heaters). However, it doesn't actually seem to heat up the space. I'm using it in a reception room that's pretty small, maybe ~250sq ft. It's rated for 400sq ft. Yet, on high it barely takes the chill out of the room. It seems to only produce heat under the unit, so a good amount of the heat is absorbed by the unit itself (which remains cool to the touch). I can slide my feet underneath and it makes a good foot warmer, but not for the whole room. The fireplace effect is pretty, despite it being obviously fake, but with the price-point I really don't care that it doesn't look fancy. I have a feeling I'll be having to replace this guy since I'm running it continuously on high and my clients are still describing the reception area as chilly.
So upsetting!
March 11, 2014
Bought this during fall (November 2013) thought it would make a great addition to our bedroom so we don't have to heat the entire house (since it's just the two of us and the furkids)- It did, for 3 months...THREE MONTHS!!!!!!! The screen portion with the flame still works but the heater...Nope. Won't turn on. I'm writing a very strongly worded letter to the company and Amazon! Paid decent money for this heater to just stop working after a few months. 5 Stars for 3 months.

NOT happy!!
December 22, 2016
We wanted to buy American and GE. We bought this range and within a week we had a major issue. We boiled the water over while cooking pasta and it spilled water on top of the range. This ended up shorting out the logic board and with the error code announcing we were out of comission. Apparently there is no seal to prevent water on top of the range from seeping into the range logic bard below. Are you kidding me? Everyone has spills on top of a range. We ended up NOT having use of the range over the Christmas holidays when family was visiting. NOT happy!!

September 13, 2016
Have had this 14 months and the upper glass oven door shattered in to hundreds of pieces! It was not damaged in any way. The stove has barely been used. We were using the bottom oven on convection mode at 375F and came back in to the kitchen to find the UPPER oven door in hundreds of pieces while still in the frame. I have contacted GE and MABE (their manufacturer whom have washed their 'hands of it' because it is 2 months past their warranty date). Buyer beware is all I can say. A 'GE customer relations manager' is to call but that could be days which speaks to the poor quality of their products in my opinion.
I wanted to like it so bad!
January 18, 2016
I just loved the design and decided to purchase it in consideration of all great reviews. Less than a week after using it I wish I would have kept my old stove.#1. I received a unit with front panel without the actual outlined buttons as pictured. Instead it is just underlined description of the buttons. It is nothing like the great looking display in the picture and I wish I would have returned the unit right then.#2. I knew that only the bottom oven was conventional, but didn't realize how uncomfortable it is to use it. Essentially cooking on your kitchen floor, bending down or squatting with heavy pans with the door in the way. In my case it would make more sense to make the top one conventional since that is the one that most people may be using majority of the time. Top one is comfortable to use, uses less energy and should have had the convention option. If that was the case I wouldn't mind bending down now and then when it was necessary to use both or the bigger oven.#3. The overhanging glass on the sides looked amazing until I pushed the stove into place and realized that there is metal flashing under the glass on the sides. This makes the glass sit up higher than the counter and not flush. Although it is probably less than an eighth of an inch I find the gap unacceptable and to me the extended sides defy their assumed purpose.#4. This one really did it for me! To this point I was at relative peace with my huge mistake and just took it as an expensive lesson, but.... Today I've spilled some coffee over the control panel. There was quite a bit of it and therefore I was surprised that none of it got to the floor. Just wiped the control panel and it would have been a good day if it stopped there.... Just in case I decided to check for spill under the stove and that's when I discovered where all my coffee went. Both oven doors are double wall glass with heat vents on top of the doors and all my coffee leaked from the top down through the vents inside both doors. Streaks everywhere on the inside of the glass, impossible to clean unless you take both doors completely apart. Haven't even looked if it will be possible and ran over to share my experience in case any of this may help others in their decision. I believe it is only reasonable to assume that at some point you will have a spill over your stove. This makes the design unacceptable to me and it just feels like there is more to come... Wish there was a realistic review on this product before I wasted my money. So to my experience the pictured product is a great looking stove, but at this point I wish I would have chosen proper design and functionality over looks. Stay tuned, I'm sure there is more to come...UPDATE: Both front selectable size burners default to the largest size every time you turn them on. It would only make sense to default to the smallest one in order to save energy or the life of the elements, or at least it could remember the last setting. Makes no sense, it is frustrating not to be able to do anything about it. Horrible design. Also only the oven buttons (description of the buttons in my case) light up when pushed and you can hardly see that during the day. Stove buttons do not light up.
LovED it!
July 19, 2015
I've only had this oven for a couple weeks but so far i love it. The stove top heats up very fast, and i love the smaller over option. I've yet to use the big oven as i haven't needed to. Love it!UPDATE!!! 2 years later. Stove was purchased exactly 2 years ago in 2015. It's now 2017. The stove has STOPPED working. It's a mystery. No heat in the oven or stove top. Although the clock still works...??? It's going to cost $100 for GE to send someone out, + Parts + Labor. AND, it will be a week before they can come out. Extremely disappointing that a stove that cost $2,200 breaks 2 years in. They don't build them like they used to, that is for sure.

which I'm not comfortable doing on a space heater
December 30, 2016
Product arrived late with a damaged door hinge (it was popped out of the hole). Due to the way the hole and post are designed and molded, there's no way to pop it back into place without significant screwdriver work, which I'm not comfortable doing on a space heater. Filed for a return the same day I received it.
