I accidentally got some fluid into the bladder of the pump and it completely quit working, so I took it apart, cleaned it up real good, put it back together and it worked perfect again. It performed just like it said it did and it has a very powerful vacuum. It Exceeded my expectations! The handles are made of what appears to cast aluminum and has a solid feel in your hand! It has a Brass vacuum tube with brass fittings. The pressure gauge is accurate and the only parts that are plastic are the accessories and the tip of the pressure release button. All in all a amazing product with zero complaints!!!!Thank you for actually making a product that performs like you say it does!Many other products here claim to perform better than they actually do! This is not one of them! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. a handy off grid device like this baby is all I need to keep goingSeptember 10, 2016 This thing is a BEAUT! I cannot tell you how many cans this thing helped me seal by hand. All my dry ingredients are now sealed with a vacuum seal and I don't have to worry about it. 15lbs of pressure and my jars are sealed up, and my bags get a faster seal with it too. Now how did I do that? Well, on my air pump, I reversed the air flow valve. But if power goes out, then what? You are stuck with a device you cannot work and can't reseal mylar bags any more than you can pump air to a fish tank or whatever you have. So, a handy off grid device like this baby is all I need to keep going. Its not just for cars anymore! Much better than plasticSeptember 6, 2013 This is a good quality item. It has all-metal construction, so it won't get sticky or brittle in contact with brake fluid or other solvents. The cylinder and fittings are brass, and the gauge is good quality. I much prefer it to the plastic ones, that cost almost as much. Excellent ToolAugust 5, 2013 I have bought similar products in the past but this one works much better. It's better built with a metal vaccume cylinder instead of plastic and the catch jar holds more fluid. The handles are much stronger and better designed than the plastic competition, too. Makes quick work on brake jobs and only need one person thats a plus! Only problem is the shaft rubs the top of the hole the plunger goes in and out of when you are pumping. the end with the small nut isnt quite fit right in the handle part that moves, so its allowing the shaft to ride high and rub. i greased it up so its not scraping metal. I'd repair it but its not something i use daily so i think it'll be fine. works way better than any plastic ones Ive used. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a decent hand pump. Works great.August 31, 2014 I like it. Great price and comes in a plastic case. Works just as I expected. Useful for my annual ritual of flushing old DOT 3 brake fluid and replacing with new fluid. I needed to smear wheel bearing grease around the caliper bleed nipples to prevent air from leaking by the threads when opening the valve with the vacuum applied. The catch cup that the fluid drains into has an o-ring seal with the lid and you need to make sure it is in the groove before sealing the lid to the cup. You also need to keep the cup upright to prevent fluid from being pulled into the vacuum pump. Keep an eye on the reservoir and keep it topped off while pulling old fluid through the system. Although this worked great for flushing old fluid, I don't know how effective the vacuum pump would be at removing air from the system if you replaced a line or caliper and needed to bleed out air. The vacuum pump does not move fluid as forcefully as using the two-man method of bleeding. I would probably still rely on the two-man method if I replaced a line or caliper and needed to get the air out. Don't get brake cleaner on the plastic lens of the gauge, it will etch the lens making it hard to read the gauge. Good product but may not work with all brake systemsSeptember 19, 2013 This is a great little pump system. It has all the needed parts and it is easy to work the pump and the pump is brass not plastic. The slip-over boots are a bit stiff on metric bleed fittings but the smallest one worked for me. The only reason I didn't give it 5-stars is because I could "just barely" get it to do the bleeding. I think, but am not for sure, that this is a function of where I live. I am at ~8000 feet (~1700 meters?) and I was only able to pull 20 in/hg with it blocked off right at the pump. This translated into 18-19 in/hg in actual use and that was only enough to get a feeble flow of brake fluid in my truck w/o ABS. In my 4Runner with ABS it would not pull the fluid at all. So be aware that:1) vacuum bleeding may not work with all vehicles2) if you are at high altitude where there is less air pressing down on you it may be a slow processOtherwise a good little tool. Recommended with the one caveat. | | | | |

Thought I had air in the line - it turns out that air was being sucked in through the threads on the bleeder nipple.Also the collection jar is very light and doesn't stay upright, which is a must since you don't want to bring brake fluid to the vac pump.Overall it is worth having. Good toolAugust 30, 2016 Worked as advertised and expected. The collection container is a bit too small to flush a whole line without emptying it 3-4 times. That had me searching the garage for a substitute container...dealt with it as is. This would be a good tool for simple bleeding to add some fluid. Well it certainly does suck.August 18, 2016 The pressure gauge's white face plate is bent in mine and the needle sticks so the pressure readings are inaccurate. It still works for bleeding which is what I got it for and it even helped me to hold about 20PSI vacuum in a refrigerant system to recharge it. It seems to be made okay, the handle grips slide with the greatest of ease. The cylinder is metal and shiny so that's neat. The suction was poor upon squeezing the handlesJune 4, 2016 Tried using this product to drain brake fluid from my 2010 Chevy Equinox. The suction was poor upon squeezing the handles. Tried once and just ended up calling an extra help. For other uses I think it would be ok, but not so much for sucking break fluid, although I did find the tube that came with it to be useful when I combined it with an empty Costco water bottle. | Not for meAugust 22, 2017 Did not work for me. Cut not cut the air off from getting into the system. I'm to keen on going out buying additional items to make something work like it should initially Cheap, pump fell apart, but some of the accessories are nice.June 17, 2017 Maybe I got a bad one, but this kit blows. Of the three fittings for the bleeder plugs, the smallest one barely held a seal on my 2012 Nissan Frontier. The bleeder fitting is very shallow, rigid (not supple) and prone to leaks.Worst part is, while trying to bleed the FIRST caliper, the pump fell apart. It fell apart. It fell the heck apart!The needle trigger under the nozzle that you use to release the vacuum began to leak and then just fell apart. The head came off, and the pin got sucked up into the body of the pump. Completely broken and can't pull or hold a vacuum at all. I would say this kit was an utter waste of money, but I went to a local auto-parts store and bought a new kit that was 10 bucks higher. The bottle on that kit was defective!!! REALLY?!?!?But by using the hoses and bottle from this Amazon kit, and the pump and bleed plug adapters from that new kit (which have a great fit by the way, unlike this kit), I was able to come up with a working system that allowed me to flush and bleed my Frontier and change it over to Dot 4 synthetic. Brakes are much better now, but the pump and bleeder plug adapters in this kit are horrid!! The hose and reservoir (bottle) are pretty good, and the case itself is not bad (cheap and light, but well organized).I would NOT buy this again, but in the end, after spending more money on a better pump and adapter at the local auto-parts store, I was able to use bits of this kit to get the job done. I'd give this 1 star for the fact that the pump just fell apart, but in the end the reservoir and hoses did help me, so 2 stars. Brake fluid wrecks the pump.June 11, 2017 Don't get brake fluid in the pump. I did, and it wrecked the one-way valve. I took it apart about an hour after of getting brake fluid inside, and did my best to clean it out. But, the plastic parts in the one-way valve were already shot, and were crumbling. It still makes a good vacuum, but once I release the handle, it expels the air out the business end.I'd pay a little more for parts that'd stand up to brake fluid.Otherwise, a fairly good selection of accessories. | this brake bleeder worked great. I was impressedOctober 1, 2017 At first, this brake bleeder worked great. I was impressed. And then some brake fluid got into the vacuum pump. The rubber gasket within decayed rapidly and the pump was rendered useless. I understand that the pump should not get brake fluid in it because of the damage it can cause, some precautions should have been built in to either prevent fluid deteriorating the rubber over time or more resilient rubber should have been used.And the fact that as of 2017, most low-end brake bleeder kits are clones of this design, means that if one would like a brake bleeder tool that will do more than one and a half brakes, one must spend a decent amount.
