Good for many experiments, the only problem is that it's plastic. It didn't break but that is a constant concern. Otherwise a great product!

Not really heavy construction but does the job

Holds a good vacuum and a good price for how it performs. It did break after a week and a half of extensive use because of plastic parts. Worth the purchase price considering how much work I got done before it broke.

Good basic vacuum pump for automotive diagnostics by a shadetree mechanic

For the price, I have no complaint. It's generally a good toy. It's not something you want for more serious needs like auto-repair.

Like other reviews (which I wish I had read before purchasing two of these!), this is an ok pump, which mostly works, but the handle keeps popping out of position and it is really cheaply made. I am having students use if for a science project, and it is frustrating that it isn't a better product. You get what you pay for. If I buy another, I will definitely spend more!

The pump takes forever to reach vacuum level to which fluid will start filtering through a filtration apparatus. I had one very similar to this one and it worked fine but it eventually broke so had to get this one thinking it would work the same. Also, it has a popping noise after each pump. Lastly the pump arrived with some lubricant, my guess to make the pumping for efficient, on the exterior of the pump so will need some wiping down first before you get it all over your hands.

I bought to build a milking machine for milking goats, it works. The length of tubing was short for my application so I needed more tubing but that isn't part of my rating. As in other reviews, the handle does partially detach quite easily but is easily reassembled. The little cap on the top wasn't quite pushed down far enough to seal when I first got the pump, which took me a day or two to figure out and I thought the pump was no good until I pushed it down all the way, voila vacuum.Also figured out that you should not attempt to permanently seal that little cap on because it is quite useful to remove if you accidentally get liquids in the pump, you can remove the little cap and pump the handle a few times until liquid trapped in the pump spurts out of the top, which also might be useful if you want to clean the pump.I cannot tell if the release valve does anything. I only apply enough pressure to have milk flow from my goats. There is a slow leak to the system (can't say whether it is in the pump or my milking system as a whole) which is actually a OK thing for using this as a milker pump, in some opinions. With the slow leak, I definitely cannot tell if the release valve does anything.I still think, for my purpose, this was an okay purchase, especially for the price.If I build another hand pump milker I will probably get a more expensive, and hopefully actually made in the U.S. pump.Deducted stars for handle falling apart, and general irritation at the implication of being US made when it very much is NOT.

it works, its cheap. For my occasional use filtering VG, it works well enough and saves time from relying on gravity alone to pull thick viscous fluids through a paper filter into a glass bulb. If you need to filter solids from your thick viscous fluids and are somewhat impatient, this low grade plastic hand vacuum pump may be for you.

The device does produce good vacuum and it works OK. However the pump handle tends to come out of its guides and needs to be pushed back in frequently

Very Poor quality item. Will not hold or produce a good, or even ok vac. The preassure release valve did not work. I had to take the whole thing apart and mess with it to get it to work "ok"

Crappy gauge. It broke on the first pumping.

Nothing American about this one. It is a very poor quality made in china product and the release valve does not work right out of the box. The handle is barely connected and falls apart with minimal use.
