Side by Side Comparison of: Homedics vs Monster Fitness

This is my second purchase of this massager as I wanted one near my computer also -- it has a wonderfully strong massage action. It is heavier and more sturdy than a couple others I've tried in the past, and I'll never buy anything but this one in the future. Although as sturdy as it is, it may outlast me!

Purchased my previous Homedics prrcussion vibrator 12 years ago and this is a replacement. It weighs about half as much therefore is easier to hold and maneuver. Both my wife and I are pleased with the performance of the HHO-350 and hope it lasts another 12 years!

Works great. Lightweight and compact, compared to previous models. However, price remains competitive and function is virtually the same.

Oh my, where has this been and why did I wait so long to get it! Definitely benefits relief of aching muscles and stiffness. Would highly recommend this product. (I haven't used the heat action so can't comment on that aspect of this massager). The percussion action is very effective and I won't be without one of these massagers after having used this for sore achy muscles and stiffness.

I Had the older model for 5 or 6 years, and it finally gave up the ghost. I read all the negative reviews on the new model, and still decided to take a chance on it, because of the great service my wife and I got out of the last one. The new handle design is a lot better, making it easier to maneuver. There is plenty of power, and 4 speeds are all you need. Even on the old one I only used 3 and up. The heads are not movable, but they are set exactly where I had them set on the older one. All in all, I am completely satisfied with this massager. It gets deep into the muscles.

This massager is the best thing I've purchased this year. Seriously. I've previously been using vibrating massagers, but then a friend recommended that I try a percussion machine as it works a little bit harder than your average vibrating massage machine. This turns out to be very, very, true. I suffer from a bit of problems in my shoulders from a recovering rotator cuff, and have been on the lookout for something to cure my pain for a few months. I found this particular brand at walmart, but then decided to look on amazon to see what people's reviews said about it. The reviews were glowing, so I decided to order it. It was the best decision. This little unit is really great! I've used it a handful of times and it's pretty powerful for a TENS unit. There's multiple settings and speeds, which makes it very customizable. The only downfall is the gel pads that come with it will only last you 2-3 times before the gel starts wearing off, so you'll need to purchase some electrode gel. I have nothing bad to say about this unit so far. I've owned it for quite a while and it works fine. The batteries also last quite long in this. I've only had to change them out once since owning it for a year. I tend to use this for my neck and upper back area where all my stress is, and this definitely helps the muscles calm down a little bit.

This lroduct is soooo worth it. I have a bad back that constantly hurts so decided to give this a try. Thank goodness I did. It does what it is supposed to do. I've had it for about 2 years and it still works. There is alot of power in this small device and it is easy to use. You will be buying the attachments rather often if you are a consistent user. They lose stickiness after maybe a month of use.

My first electronic pulse massager, so I have nothing to compare it too. For my lower back pain, it is working great. The power is adequate for me and depending on which muscles you put them on, you need more or even less to be comfortable. I use it on 6-8 for my back, it can go to 10, but it is borderline a little too much at 10. Like some have mentioned it only has a timer of 15 min max, and you have to turn it off and on again to start it again.

One of the best purchases I've ever made! It comes with a sufficient amount of pads that already have the gel on so no need to purchase gel. The pads stick very well and can be reused several times. I've been using the same 2 pads for 8 applications. The cord from the pads to the unit is almost 4 feet long so no problem wearing it to bed. I also take it to work and wear it, the unit fits nicely in my scrub top pocket. I've found that setting it on 5 works well for me but I started lower and worked my way up. I would suggest starting at a lower setting & work your way up to a level that is comfortable for you. This unit is worth every penny!

I have episodes of extremely painful muscle spasms in my lower back. Without a few chiro visits, it can take more than a week to resolve. My chiropractor uses TENS, so when I couldn't see him I tried a friend's handheld unit and was back to normal in 3 days. I immediately purchased this one. Since owning it, I've had 2 episodes that were quickly relieved.

This is a great unit. It's very powerful, especially with new sticky pads. It's strong at a setting of 5 and the unit goes all the way to 10. It's also nice because this works with the replacement stickies that are sold on Amazon in large quantities for cheap. I really like it!

The good,works really well, the bad, ordered it thinking it would work on 240 volt, as it said on the page 'can be shipped to Australia' so I thought dual voltage, so when I got it i discovered it was only 120 volt, so had to buy a transformer to be able to use it. they should let you know if it works on dual volt or at least say cannot be used overseas. Can't send it back as it will cost more than it was worth.

Works well. I would have preferred a separate on/off and speed switch so when I turn it on it would already be at the speed I like. Also I don't like the auto off, I'd like to make that decision myself, thank you very much. But for those two things I would have given it 5 stars.

My old one finally gave up the ghost. I hope this one lasts a bit longer, as I have fibromyalgia and it really helps to have one of these massagers.One star off for the different on-off switch. This one is pretty clumsy, as there are 4 "strengths" and you have to go through all of them to get back to off. Very annoying.

It's still new, but good so far. It is great for getting "cinched up" muscles to relax, or for muscle spasms. Great also, on a low setting, for diabetic foot discomfort too- but put socks on first. :-) I like the fact that, with the weight at the top the massager, you can easily self-massage your own back- standing up or laying down. I would purchase it again, but wish it was made in the USA. Our last one was a HoMedics and it lasted for over 15 years. Now, since they are being made in a foreign country, we are not as optimistic on the life span. It got a 4 star because of not being made in this country. But it is a required tool for relief (if not for a massager there would be lots more sleepless nights)! Try it out, you will really be glad you did.

Doesn't seem quite as strong as my previous Homemedics back massager, but is pretty good. There's a heat button that doesn't seem to do anything at all tho.

I purchased this for my wife. She uses out every day. She has on complaints but I noticed a couple things. The handle could be 3 inches longer. It's a noisy unit when used on setting higher than 2. I Would not purchase again.

For the price this is really great! I have two bulging cervical disks and going to the chiropractor is so expensive. They use a electronic pulse massager there and it always helped my muscles relax and relieve some swelling. Although this is not as good as the one they use (obviously..) It is so affordable and does the trick for most days. I'm a little concerned over how long the pads will remain sticky but I guess we will see!

We like it for the fact that it gives some relief from acute pain. Even my wife feels she is getting relief for her plantar fasciitis; not immediately, but next day she feels less pain than usual. Another positive thing about this over other TENS devices is that it takes AAA batteries unlike others that take coin battery. So no need to change the batteries as often. The reason I am giving less stars is that the glue on the pads doesn't last long. I think we have to replace the pads than able to wash and reuse.Update after about 6 mo use. Increased to 4 stars. We are happy with our purchase and though I thought the glue on pads might not last long, it is still going good. We have been using it for about 6 mo now for at least more than twice a week. It gives a great relief by those small sessions of massages; all at home.

Fantastic, powerful unit. Several options.You will want to go ahead & purchase replacement pads. It comes with one extra set, but these won't last long. My only complaint is unlike Omron's unit, the pads do not last more than a couple of uses. I'll try using alcohol to remove skin oils, but I really don't want to do this regularly & dry out my skin.

Bought this for three family members, two who have back problems. Both said its really helped them deal with back and neck pain and that they've used something similar in a chiropractors office. Nice how there's an extra set of batteries.

When looking for a TENS unit, they all look like they come from the same manufacturer, so price and what you get for your money becomes the determining factor. That said, the unit from "On the House" not only provides a lower price than the others, but you get much more for your money. You get 4 extra electrodes AND 4 extra batteries. It comes in a nice box with an operating manual as well. The only thing that I would have wished was better was the operating manual, which is probably not an issue with the vendor but the manufacturer. Never having owned a TENS unit, I wasn't sure of the placement of the electrodes for specific areas and whether or not you could use a hot pack over it, like they do at the chiropractor or physical therapists office. That said, I was delighted that it is basically the same quality experience I have had at medical practices without the nasty copay!**Updated June 2015**Recently, I was having severe SI joint pain that was not even slightly alleviated with oxycodone, hydrocodone, and muscle relaxers, let alone ice, heat, or topical freeze gels. All the meds did was make me overly drowsy. But trying to sleep through gnawing constant SI joint pain was impossible, no matter how drowsy I was. There was no sleeping position that lessened the pain even slightly and I was at my wits end of back to back sleepless nights, when suddenly I remembered my TENS unit I had stuffed in a drawer. I put one pad on each SI joint, hit massage, increased the intensity between 5-6, laid on a warm heating pad (low setting), and within two 15 minute cycles, I got to sleep and slept pain free for the whole night without drugs!!!!SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS:1. I wish it had a longer cycle than 15 minutes (up to one hour would be nice), because repeat function doesn't work with bottom three selections (massage, beat, knead). At the end of the cycle, you have to turn dial off and on again, and reset intensity, speed, etc.2. Both On/Off dials are operated exactly opposite from each other. DOWN is on for right switch while UP is on for left switch. This makes it confusing to remember and it's too easy to overly increase intensity drastically by accident (Yikes!!).3. A lock switch would be nice for this same reason. If you want to make an adjustment during the night and your fumbling around for the unit, it's too easy to accidentally increase intensity drastically (Yikes. Again!).

Nice massager but the clips on the attachments break easily. I've used it about 4 times and the last time I was using it one of the clips on the light grey hard covers broke off. When I twisted the other cover to remove it, a clip also broke on it so now they will not stay on. I haven't used the softer dark grey covers yet. I will not return it because if this because the red domes at the base work fine. I do like the rubber gaskets around the domes as they prevent pinching at the edges of the massager. I have a much older model of this massager that was heaver and it would occasionally pinch.

I really like this massager. I am only using it on my back currently, and the only problem with this (and why I didn't rate it higher) is that I can't use it by myself on my back - it's big and a little clunky. Also, I have not been able to feel the heat at all (although this wasn't a reason I bought it, I figured it'd be a nice bonus).

Great heat and speeds.... but control board already broke....

I like its vibration settings but the heat settings failed after a while.Had the infra red settings not failed I would have gave it a 5

It's pretty okay when it's used. But not tempting to use it though. I used it 10 times most. Unless I didn't know how to use correctly.It doesn't feel very heavy but it's not light either. Vibration is a bit much after a few minutes.It was good though for the few times it was used.

Should have listened to other reviews about how the giver will be uncomfortably shaken by this thing. Receiver, ahhhhhh...love it. Giver, will wish the receiver would have bought a better product. Also, the heat setting is a joke. No heat felt....ever

Its not overly powerful for me, but I'm 6'1" and about 300 lbs. Its helpful but it could use more juice. My wife thinks it plenty powerful, almost painful on high settings-- but she's 5'3" and about 130 lbs. That said, its powerful enough to be comfortable and used for 20-30 minutes it does provide some relief. Its not the same machine the chiropractor uses, but then again, I'm pretty sure its a whole heck of alot cheaper. Decent for the money.

Need larger pads to be effective for pains in large areas. But worked okay for wrist.

Action of motor was too weak. Didn't measure up to my past old ones.I would not recommend to anyone who needs a vigorous workout

This massager is a big step down from their previous one that had 4 points of contact rather than two.Besides covering a smaller area, the spacing of the "dual pivoting heads" is too wide. Trying to get a massage up and down your spine doesn't work with this unit. The 4-head massager had them spaced closer together which allowed use on the neck and spine in a precise manner which was great. The older unit also had an extendable handle.HoMedics really cheapened the product and it's not close to being as effective as the original. They do sell it for considerably less but you get less value out of this one. Bad job, HoMedics.

I bought this April 2017 and it has stopped working, on the very night I need it the most. this was supposed to be better than the one it replaced. I'd had it for 8 years, no problems. What a disappointment.

High percussions so the vibration extends to the handle, very heavy, little to no heat. Didn't give it a one because still a good tool but very difficult to use.

Not very comfortable or easy to stand for very long. Yes it works but it vibrates your hand/arm so much that it's hard to use for long.

Not sure how long I've had this, but it is making too much noise like something is loose. And I hate that if you have it Power 1 to turn it off you have to go to Power 2, Power 3, Power 4, and Power 5, to get to off. You have to press the button five times, getting louder, to turn it off. Lame.

The description did not note that this shuts off after 15 minutes. I needed a tens unit for hours at a time. Restarting the unit every 10 minutes is ridiculous. Other units such as EMPI do not shut off.

The left side plug cuts out with no reason. The right sideplus always works, but the left side may or may not work when the unit is turned on. If it works, it usually stops working before the unit has completed the cycle. The unit must then be turned on and off again several times in order to get the left side plug to work again. But again, it will stop working before the cycle is complete.I was unable to swap at the time for a replacement unit, but Amazon provided a refund as a result.

Very cheaply made. I've only had it a few weeks and already one of the holes quit working so I can only use one pair of pads at a time instead of both. It does give a strong "massage," but it's very flimsy so I wouldn't recommend. I'm going to try something a little more upscale to see if I can get more durability.

This is an absolute piece of garbage. Avoid it like the plague. It feels amazing- while it works. I purchased two different units and both of them failed within the first two days. The first one became stuck on one setting and the only way to turn it off was to unplug it. The second died completely after one use. (The manual says not to use it for longer than 15 minutes at a time, so I made sure to only use it for about 5-10 minutes each use.)

unboxed it. read the manual. plugged it. turned it on for 5 secs. turned it off. something sparked from the inside. and it just stopped working. This was what happened. It was too late when I found out that many homedics massagers are currently being recalled because of cases of electricution and skin burns probably due to sudden faulty wirings. I'm guessing this was what hapoened to mine. I'm just thankful I was not holding the massager when it sparked from the inside. I could have also been electricuted. This particular model is not one of those models that are being recalled. But based on my experiece, they should have this model recalled too.

Garbage... used less than a dozen times and it stopped working.

Was a good unit for the 15 or so times I used it. Then it would not work one morning after using the evening before. The lights come on, but no massage action or heat. And no phone number to call to get the unit replaced.

Broken after three months. It will not turn on unless I bend the whole massager to the left.

I have used HOMEDICS Many times in my life but THIS one was broken on arrival........it barely worked......made a lot of noise......had to be hit on to make it work the little bit that it worked. I will tell others to AVOID THIS PRODUCT. It was messed up on delivery.......what a waste of money.

Did not work well

Stopped working on one side. Was ok. Cheap unit. Works ok almost similar to the real expensive units but missing some important features. I would ave given easily 3 stars but the unit no longer works on one side.

I gave it one star because it turns on.Everything else useless and painful!! Do Not Buy No Pain Relief At All!!!!
