Five Star Reviews: | 68% Good quality product and have used it successfully so March 6, 2017 Well made and functions as advertised. Good quality product and have used it successfully so far Excellent Product by Mityvac February 22, 2017 Great product put it to work immediately upon receiving on a 2 stoke carb for Homelite Chainsaw, on pressure mode determined issues with carb no holding pressure, rebuilt and 25+yr old Chainsaw fired up Only one Mityvac December 14, 2016 Works great. Helped me successfully diagnose an old cruise control actuator issue. Comfortable and easy to use...can disassemble barrel for maintenance as needed. Gauge is pretty accurate and swivels so you can see it if you're in a tight spot. I got the adapter kit also (MVA6912). Vacuum pump for vacuum storage in mason jars. December 1, 2016 I have never used a device like this before, so have nothing to compare it with. I used it to vacuum pack raisins and other dried fruits, and ground spices, in mason jars. I pumped air out of the jars down to the 20? level on the scale, which was recommended. It requires some hand power, but I am a piano player, so wasn't too bad. I have done about 50 jars so far, including quart jars for the ground spices. I am quite pleased with the results, and would buy it again. Is quite sturdy, so should hold up well over time. Cheaper to check it yourself January 4, 2016 Thought I had some water in the lower unit of my 90 hp Mercury 2 stroke outboard. It was going to cost me an hour labor to get the pressure checked. I bought this for less that an hour of labor and can use it again and again. I substituted the hose that comes with the the lower unit oil pump. That is the pump you hook to the quart of oil that you use to pump oil into the lower unit.Good product. high quality!! u get what u pay for. March 28, 2015 Very quality material!! All metal except for gauge which is a hard plastic.. i am very impressed and would recomend to anyone. Price is a bit steep but u get what u pay for.. | 45% I needed a small hand pump and is perfect. It does an incredible job December 12, 2015 I needed a small hand pump and is perfect. It does an incredible job. Will recommend to any one looking for this type of pump. My old pump (at least 15 years) finally gave out ... April 15, 2015 My old pump (at least 15 years) finally gave out. I had trouble finding a replacement until I found this unit. This unit works exceptionally well. I would caution care in it's use as it may generate a greater than desired vacuum. I loved it. Has a good size handle October 10, 2014 I used my this am, I loved it. Has a good size handle, get a good pressure around 200 and I got a great pump. The best and most practical pump I have used. |
Four Star Reviews: | 14% Does the job. Pump handle is finicky. The ... December 23, 2014 Does the job. Pump handle is finicky. The retention pin will rotate and the handle will come apart. You must keep an eye on it when working the handle. Great Quailty April 10, 2013 We've purchased and gone though about half a dozen hand pumps in the last two years, first the all plastic ones in the $11-18 range, then a heavier duty metal/chromed one, and under daily use they all failed within a few months at best. After deciding to step up in price and hopefully quality we found this tool and decided to spend the extra money hoping to find it worthwhile. Out of the box the difference in quality is immediately noticeable. This is a heavy duty, well made serious tool with great features. The swivel gauge is shear genius. It's a little heavy and tricky to use one handed, but that's the trade off I suppose of the heavy duty metal components.Only a few minor quibbles. The vacuum tubing that came with the unit fits perfectly on the brass fitting of the tool, however it's too big for the other fittings on the device(s) we're connecting to. With a little effort and some lithium grease we were able to get the old tubing we had to fit over the pump connector which is fine. We're not sure if it's the pump or the other devices who have their fittings sizes screwed up but someone does. So long as it's working with what we have it's not a problem.Second minor issue, the point at which the pump rod passes through the top of the handle, the contact point is metal on metal. For the first weeks of daily use we didn't even notice it but eventually the contact point started becoming rougher. We realized eventually the wear would affect ease of use, but another glob of lithium grease here seems to have resolved this for the time being.Only time will tell if the unit is up to daily use but all indications are that it should and prove to be a better value than constantly replacing broken "cheaper" units. | 10% I think it will work fine. August 11, 2015 inexpensive and so far seems durable. Haven't tried it with fluids yet. I think it will work fine. Recommend it to any one who needs April 29, 2015 Worked very well. Recommend it to any one who needs one |
Three Star Reviews: | 10% not good for the price April 30, 2017 lasts about as long as a cheapie brass one. Also harder to use than those (tougher to squeeze) It's what I was looking for thinking it was better quqlity then the same hand pump made of a ... August 21, 2016 It's what I was looking for thinking it was better quqlity then the same hand pump made of a plastic type composit. It does work but it's sticky and bleeds down. My old Chinese Harbor Freight pump, even at 20 years old operates better. I have to keep it hoping it will break it. Some day I will take it apart and polish the barrel and moving parts. Hate to say it but I wish I would of bought a cheap throw away pump. I was disappointed. August 5, 2016 thought it would come in the plastic molded case with attachments. Came in a cardboard box with one piece of clear hose. I was disappointed. Works great to Pressure/Vac Test small 2 stroke engines on chainsaws May 2, 2015 Im a small engine technician and I use this tester everyday 5-20 times pressure & vacuum testing Stihl chainsaws. The gauge swivels and sits at an angle. I am not fan of either. My old pump (Stihl Issue) had a straight fixed gauge which I was used to, I thought the swivel/angle might grow on me but it hasn't. The gauge only reads in PSI, there are no BAR increments which would be convenient for me. As far as i can tell the gauge cannot be swapped out either because it has a special swivel fitting, no threads. That said this pump is of high quality and after a few months of daily use it is holding up well. Comes with a nice length of clear vinyl tubing to stick on the end. You can bleed pressure or vacuum by clutching the lever below the gauge which I like. Switching between pressure and vacuum is also made simple with a quarter turn knob below the gauge. The positions are clearly marked. | 14% Works, but will not produce enough vacuum for some uses October 19, 2015 Only produces a weak vacuum; good enough for some purposes, but not nearly as good as some other hand pumps. It would be adequate for priming a system with fluid or bleeding brakes, but not for evaporating liquids or demonstrating glow discharges. my 7 year old son likes it July 16, 2015 an interesting toy but does not achieve the vacuum i need for my research good vacuum, made for a man's hand March 30, 2013 It works well. Gets a good vacuum and holds it pretty well. I bought this to replace the flimsy, toy like hand pump that is sold with a goat milking unit. I was tired of replacing the $100 pump every year because it is so flimsy.Would love this, even with a stronger pull, but the finger grooves were modeled on King Kong's hand. |
Two Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 14% Save your money. January 13, 2016 Can we say VERY bad off gas? Will not pull but 75% of it's total dial indication pressure value. Won't buy this again. Gauge broken on delivery and likely overstating the vacuum December 30, 2015 The gauge needle was stuck at -300 mmHG right out of the box. After a lot of pumping, the gauge reads -700 mmHg (which is actually -400 mmHg), which seems pretty respectable. However, water barely boils at 90C so I am strongly inclined to think that the gauge is overstating the vacuum. |
One Star Reviews: | 8% bought it in March, broken already May 9, 2017 We bought this to milk our goats. The rear handle nut has broken off so it no longer works. We cant return it after it has been used. Not durable despite it is made of metal and more expensive January 9, 2017 Product jammed up and litterallly fell apart almost one year to the date of purchase. I am trying to get this fixed under the one-year warrenty but no luck so far. The fact this is made out of metal makes it sound like it should be a strong, durable tool. However, the metal switch to change from vacuum to pressure connects to a cheap plastic stem that breaks easily when trying to turn it. The handle also comes off frequently because there is no screw fixing it to the body. Very dissappointed. It has a little pin holding the handle together and ... April 9, 2015 It has a little pin holding the handle together and it came out the very first time I used it. And is a hassle to put back | 17% Worked well for a few months then tiny cracks formed and wouldn't draw a vacuum. March 9, 2016 Worked well for a few months then tiny cracks formed and wouldn't draw a vacuum. I took it apart to inspect the check valve housing and found a few cracks close to the screw holes. I think my replacement will be a higher quality metal unit. Cannot recommend. February 9, 2016 I've used this pump about 12 times and over time the vacuum was getting less and less all the time until now, there's zero suction. It's never been submerged, dropped or mistreated so obviously it's a quality issue. The gauge never did register properly so fortunately I didn't need specific or accurate readings. There is also a 30 day return policy, so I cannot recommend this for any reason. One Star September 30, 2014 It pumps once and the plunger doesn't return for a second pump for too long. It's cumbersome to use. |
