Five Star Reviews: | 73% good product February 8, 2016 The taste isn't to bad but it's not good either. But the health benefits are worth it. The taste goes away quickly. I took it one night with acidopholus and that was a mistake and that didn't seem to mix well then I read to take it on an empty stomach. My dad used to make us take cod liver oil when I was young. It makes your eyes clear, hair shiny and generally lubes your whole system if you take it regularly. Great for SAD! January 7, 2016 This is a great product! I started taking it last winter to see if it would help with my depression that would get even worse in the winter months. I started out with 1 t. a day, but that wasn't enough. I bumped it up to 2t. and saw dramatic results in how I felt. I started feeling happy again! I did lower the dose down to 1t again after a couple months as I started to not sleep as well. Fixed the sleeping problem! I quit in the summer months with no recurrence of depression and am taking it again this winter to prevent future problems. It does taste fishy, but it is worth it. It's all about the vitamin D November 30, 2015 Many people recommend cod liver oil as a source of vitamin D. Unfortunately, times have changed, and most brands of fish oil are processed (to remove the fishy taste) in a way that destroys most of the vitamin D. Sonne does this one the old fashioned way, and the vitamin D is intact. I don't find the taste bad at all, and I'm very glad to have a good source for natural vitamin D. I want to do the best for my family but I can't always afford $50-$60 ... February 15, 2015 My toddler and myself take this cod liver oil. This is actually my second bottle. We take it for the Vitamin D (we live in Vermont) and omega 3 (we don't eat much fish) benefits. We prefer Sonne's because it is one of the purest forms of cod liver oil available without being so crazy $$$. I want to do the best for my family but I can't always afford $50-$60 a month. We each take about a 1 tbsp each 3-4x a week in about 3 tbsp of pure 100% fruit juice. We mix it in a small glass because that is the easiest to clean. It goes straight in the dishwasher. I don't like to get the oil on my sponge because it might transfer onto other things I wash. There is no way I can take this straight.. it is far too pungent. My toddler is such a trooper and will take it very quickly as long as I mix it with juice. I attached a picture of her taking her "medicine juice" quickly.. the goggles are just a bonus.. not required to take the cod liver oil haha.If this gets on your clothes or skin.. best take a bath immediately. You will smell like fish for a long time. If it gets on your clothes make sure to soak the stain in some dish or laundry detergent and then wash a couple of times at least. That being said this is our SECOND bottle and we will continue to repurchase many times. The most apparent health benefit I've noticed is our skin and NAILS. My nails used to split and peel like crazy and ever since I started taking cod liver oil no more! My hair and nails grow like crazy and are so strong and healthy. Great company, great product! March 29, 2014 My son takes it by the spoonful! If you need help take a spoonful of raw honey to coat your mouth then take a sip of water, tilt back your head, then pour right into your mouth for 1-2 seconds. and just be sure to drink plenty of milk afterwards because this NEEDS to be taken with a fat to gain full effects as well as to keep that funky flavor coming back later. I recommend this for people as young as 6 months old. If you need more vitamin A-D just add grass fed beef liver, shellfish, and raw milk butter to your diet! Good luck! Great Source of Vit A / Vit D + DHA / EPA June 8, 2013 After scouring the web, and reserching this, realized that 90% of CLO products during processing destory valuable Vit A / Vit D, and all then re-add synthetic Vit A and Vit D to their final product.Carlson, Twin Labs, Nordic Naturals, Barleans -- they all add synthetic Vit A / D.If I wanted synthetic vitamins, I could just pop pills.According to the expert, Weston Price, their highest recommended product is a overly pricey fermented product. As a Norwegian myself, my grandfathet said they the Scandinavians (where CLO originally came from), NEVER ferments the COD LIVER to make CLO.They use a natural process which has been passed down for generations. going back to Eric the Red and the Vikings.Currently, nobody has such a product. This Sonne's CLO is currently the closest I could find. They have been making this since 1946.Also, according to Weston Price, he said you need "butter" combined with CLO to get "any" benefit. Hogwash. My ancestors I assure you did noy combine their Cod Liver Oil with Butter in Norway. They all come from the North where sun is limited, and CLO gave them all the Vit A and Vit D they needed for living in such a Northern Climate. This product is top notch and the best I could find, with a price we all can live with. | 70% Love this oil keeps my heart healthy May 27, 2017 BLUE ICE Fermented Cod Liver Oil -Non-Gelatin.: Love this oil keeps my heart healthy. Thank you very much!! FCLO is great for dry skin! May 14, 2017 I have been using Blue Ice FCLO for years and love it. I normally buy the one mixed with butter oil, but it just wasn't in the budget this time around. I'm always happy with the results. I have a lot less dry skin issues when I take FCLO regularly. Best fish oil October 16, 2016 I've ever had. And the only one I've taken that I actually feel a difference after taking it. Five Stars October 10, 2016 Excellent product, has helped with my pain, energy and overall health. Our family is hooked! Quali January 10, 2016 Great quality for a fish oil supplement. I've been taking it for 6 months. The smell is easier to swallow in the capsules. Pricey, but worth it! Goodbye Acne! December 31, 2013 Although it is somewhat expensive, I started using this to help with my hormonal acne. I saw results after just a few days! None of the topical remedies would ever do anything for those awful, painful bumps. Will be buying this again. |
Four Star Reviews: | 17% For me I wish it was not the case because I liked the product otherwise and DO NOT want synthetic vitamins August 18, 2016 I hear on forums that they add synthetic vitamins into this to get the levels up to what the label states. I did not personally confirm with the company. For me I wish it was not the case because I liked the product otherwise and DO NOT want synthetic vitamins. like licking a freshly fried mackerel November 18, 2015 My boyfriend has a big ol' cavity on one of his molars, and it will be a while before we can get it fixed. Within minutes of taking this, his tooth pain was reportedly gone, but came back if he didn't take this oil for a couple of days.It tastes very fishy, like licking a freshly fried mackerel. But I suppose that's to be expected. It still tastes better than a lot of medicines.A lot of the flavored brands are just plain cod liver oil, plus some lemon or orange essential oils. For that reason, we bought this one for half the price, and added our own flavorings. Easy To Take CLO October 31, 2015 It is hard to give CLO a "love it" 5 star review but I like it better than lemon flavored brands of CLO. It is easy to take, basically tasteless and contains my Vitamin D and Vitamin A in as natural a way as I can find. When I found out that most Vitamin D is from lanolin I decided to find a real cod liver oil and this is the real thing. I highly recommend it. like this stuff June 23, 2014 I have taken cod liver oil for years, and I really like this stuff. It is fishier than Carlson brand but I don't mind that. Took a long time to receive the product though:( Natural cod liver oil March 22, 2014 This cod liver oil is completely natural and tastes great. High in vitamins A and D. Great for cardiovascular health, joints, teeth, skin, hair and eyes. Omega 3 fatty acids are very important. Good product, but my kids didn't like the taste December 15, 2013 Great product. Arrived within the time frame. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because my kids do not like the taste. Just a little too much of a fish flavor. Not bad for an adult but for little one's (7, 5, 2) they didn't even like to drink it when I would pair it with juice; which is kind of a treat at our house :) So we will go back to Carlson's lemon flavored cod liver oil. They didn't mind drinking that brand (also paired with a little juice of their choice, pink lemonade). Just my two cents :) | 13% great product. Love what it has done for my ... August 23, 2017 great product. Love what it has done for my skin and hair Originally recommended by a doctor to me July 19, 2017 Originally recommended by a doctor to me. He believed it better than all the rest. We all know that Cod Liver Oil is good for us, I just don't know if this one is better than all the rest as the price suggests. Great for teeth! January 17, 2016 I'm sure these work out great for many people, in fact I'm pretty sure they were in the starting stages of helping me. I got these to help in the aid of remineralizing my teeth, which if you've done your research, fermented cod liver oil is even better for your teeth than fish oil (of course when you also take other supplements and eat specific raw foods). However, after a few days, I noticed a fishy smell every time I opened the bottle, and I'm still not sure if it was okay or if they went bad or were always bad, or maybe just one pill opened and caused the rest of the pills to smell and taste like fish - but long story short, I tossed these and stuck with my basic fish oil pills for awhile - but with that said, I'm pretty sure the fishy smell was just some sort of a fluke, and I'd be willing to try these out again at some point in the future. I like that it helps my supplements that need essential fatty ... July 24, 2015 I like that it helps my supplements that need essential fatty acids to work. No fishy taste and my gut tolerates it well. Wish it didn't have to be in the fridge but understand. I think it will be fine. May 8, 2015 Haven't been taking it long enough to know how well it works, but the capsules are small and there is no taste or smell. I think it will be fine. |
Three Star Reviews: | 5% watered down? January 11, 2017 tasted a bit watered down compared to some other brands I have purchased Plastic lid pieces in my oil... March 3, 2016 Quality is okay, as far as I know, since I'm no expert on cod liver oil... Tastes like it's supposed to, it seems. My issue was with the Styrofoam, plastic-lined lid... The plastic underneath, maybe because it was in contact with oil, came off into the container; I can see pieces of it floating around. I have already used a few teaspoons of it and it's not a huge deal, but I'm still contemplating on returning it. Not bad tasting. November 1, 2015 Cod liver oil is supposed to have vit d. and other benefits. The taste was not bad. However, I decided to stop taking it when I read that Cod liver oil may suppress thyroid function because it is an unstable oil that goes rancid quick. That is no fault of the manufacturer though. What attracted me to this product was the purity of ... October 25, 2014 What attracted me to this product was the purity of the ingredients and the price. However, it has a strong, lingering fishy taste that makes me reluctant to take it. Unfortunately, I think I'll have to switch back to one of the more expensive, flavored cod liver oils. Cod liver oil is a small intestine laxative-ouch March 15, 2014 Bought cod liver oil because I read that this a good source of vitamin D, plus can aid in overall balance.Once I took it this, I experienced painful stomach cramps. I asked a friend of mine who is a nurse and she told me, cod liver oil is a small intestine laxative. Needless to say, I won't be using this anymore. Plus the fishy taste is out of this world-yuk. Usually I can handle anything, but this packs a punch not even I can take.I am not saying its the brand because I am sure Sonne's makes good products, plus cod liver oil has its benefits. The only reason I am giving it three stars is because I cant take this anymore. | 4% I use it daily, began slow dose. Now ... April 15, 2017 I use it daily, began slow dose. Now up to 5 daily. I have bone degeneration in extreme case. I will probably not continue as the cost is too much for my budget. But I know fermented cod liver oil is good for you September 29, 2015 I really didn't see/ feel any noticeable improvements. But I know fermented cod liver oil is good for you. I might try the liquid version instead. Conflicting information about if this product is safe August 24, 2015 There is a bit of an uproar on some independent lab testing of this product that I think is worth reading. While the writer, Dr. Kaayla Daniel, is clearly angered by the results found and lets this come through (a red flag for me when reading a supposedly scientific document) - I do feel good questions are raised. That being said, Green Pasture has published a response to Dr. Daniel's report and they seem open to answering any questions one has on their products. So, I'm on the fence, I probably would not give this to kids or take while pregnant and just stick with regular old, tried and true, cod liver oil from a high quality company. Up in the air.... January 8, 2015 I take it and I also give it to my aging dog. The smell is horrendous, though. 3 stars because I am not sure if I feel any noticeable and positive side effects. I've been taking the FCLO by Green Pastures for 3-4 months now. I think FCLO benefits children more because of a child's developing brain. As a fully grown adult, the benefits are less, but I do believe it will help a growing child and their brain function tremendously. There are probably some positive effects for adults, I am atill trying to figure them out. I have read a lot about FCLO, but nothing noticable for me, really. Maybe better mood? I have been feeling better mood-wise, but if that's what ia helping with mood, than it takes a good 2-3 months for this stuff to kick in as a mood booster. I am generally a happy person and do not suffer from mood problems, but lately I have been in a great mood lol. Hmmmmm. Heard great things about this company and health benefits of taking ... August 1, 2014 Heard great things about this company and health benefits of taking fermented cod liver oil. Have been using these for 4 months now and have not noticed any difference in my overall health or skin. They are definitely not as bad tasting as many people state. But at a pretty high price for the bottle not sure if I'd buy them again. |
Two Star Reviews: | 1% | 3% I think maybe one of the pills popped or something ... November 23, 2015 I think maybe one of the pills popped or something because the whole bottle had such a strong fishy taste and smell I can't even take any more without gagging. Questionable science behind fermenting fish oil May 29, 2015 My naturopathic doctor told me to stop taking these because basically when you ferment fish oil it goes rancid. I believed the hype but now I just use regular fish oil. Get the Butter Oil version May 1, 2015 I'm giving this a low review, but I highly recommend buying the fermented cod liver with butter oil from the same company instead. I started taking cod liver oil for acne, and I started with the capsules with the butter oil added. Went through 2 bottles of it taking between 4-6 capsules a day. When I started I had a pretty bad breakout, I took some progress pics each week, and I made steady improvement each week for about a month. Got to a point where I didn't really have any active acne, just some marks from previous pimples that were fading, but very slowly. I won't say it cured my acne, I did eventually get some new pimples, but definitely still a big improvement. Then when I ran out of the 2nd bottle I switched to this one because it was cheaper on amazon, and my skin has gotten a lot worse. Major blemishes all over my face, even when I tried upping the dosage per day. So for me, the butter oil seemed to make all the difference. Ordered a new bottle off of the green pasture site, going to try to stomach the liquid form for cost reasons. The name says it all December 25, 2014 Yuck. Tastes like ferment cod liver oil. Don't know what I expected but if you don't mind a horrible taste and a burning sensation down your throat until you can chase it with OJ or something, then this is good stuff. Sorry...don't recommend. The gel caps are more expensive but easier to live with...except when you burp. |
One Star Reviews: | 4% This and the Calphonite stopped the pain in my neighbor's ... September 4, 2014 This and the Calphonite stopped the pain in my neighbor's legs but did not have the same effect on me. | 10% Proceed with caution October 14, 2017 Had a allergic reaction to this. That never happens to me. I just glad my body told me it didn't like it instead of just taking it and hurting me without knowing it. No effect November 23, 2016 Not happy. I had cod liver oil from earthfare and it worked amazing. This product has no results after 3 weeks. One Star October 1, 2016 Not very effective w/out the one that also has butter oil in it which is too expensive. I believe some of these sellers are filling bottles with cheap crap and using Green Pasture label September 21, 2016 I have used this product for years. This last bottle had different capsules and was expired, and didnt work well at all. I believe some of these sellers are filling bottles with cheap crap and using Green Pasture label. Be careful of sellers on Amazon. Just buy it direct from Green Pastures website. and now it is smells like decompose August 14, 2016 It's was in refrigerator for 4 month, and now it is smells like decompose dog Rather purchase from a different company December 2, 2015 Wanted to like this product, but didn't like that every batch had different levels of Vitamin A. When speaking with service reps, they were rude and didn't like being asked questions about the product. Kind of sketchy. *Be careful when taking when pregnant, too much Vitamin A during pregnancy could be dangerous for fetus. My experience: I don't like the product and wished I purchased from a different company |
