Solid waterproofing and warmth.
August 22, 2017
Let's keep it simple: the color (charcoal/bright red), looks way better in real life than pictured, it's a definite WIN. Waterproofing is solid up to the first metallic lace hook. The boot is a tiny bit 'hard' to walk with straight out of the box, so be mindful of that. Maybe break-in the boots so they gain flexibility; go out on small walks or hikes before attempting anything too serious, just for the sake of comfort. I ordered a size 8.5 so I can fit thicker, warmer socks, my regular Columbia/Adidas size is 8, so that's only half a size larger. Nevertheless, the sizing is spot-on; comfortable and easy to walk with either thin or thick socks (consider ordering half a size larger just in case). These boots are sufficiently warm but consider wearing warmer socks depending on how cold your hometown or the location you intend to use them at is. The sole has solid grip on all surfaces, though a proper ice/snow test at a glacier above 14,700ft./4500m. is pending. The insulation does what it's meant to do; insulate heat rather than generate it, so consider that fact when deciding between the 200gram and 600gram versions of the boot.
very nice!
June 14, 2017
Bought these for my husband. He did grumble because I bought gray instead of black but that's not the boots fault. I can never get him to try something on same day they arrive but he put these on pretty quick and tromped around the house for several hours with a smile on his face. Looked like a 5 star rating to me. Rated to -25 and that makes me happy too. Cats loved the box so they should get extra bonus points for that!!!
Great boots
March 16, 2017
Wow ! bought these for a future trip. After I received them we were hit with 20" inches of snow in NY. I used them for 6 straight hours the first day and another 5 the next day.My feet were warm and dry through out. Can't wait for my trip to use them again.
Warm, Comfortable, and Waterproof...
December 14, 2016
I am 5'7" and 150lbs and I ordered the size 9. They fit me perfectly.Even with wearing Wool Socks these boots are a perfect fit on me.After wearing these boots on my first "Winter Hike" I am very pleased with them. I wore these, coupled with my Columbia Bugaboo Pants, and stayed bone dry the entire time. I was hiking through knee-deep snow for several miles and not a drop of moisture made it's way into my boots. I have since then worn them around the city on rainy/snowy days and I love being able to romp around through the snow and puddles and never have wet socks. They are extremely warm and very comfortable for being "winter boots"They are mostly made of a Rubber-Like material and so I can definitely understand why some people refer to them as "lunkers" or whatever... But as far as warmth, comfort, and how waterproof they are, I would absolutely recommend.Worth every penny if you live somewhere where there is heavy snowfall.
Good boots, probably will last
December 5, 2016
I had to replace a similar pair from Columbia, although not quite as insulated as these. The top of the rubber part (so at the top of your foot) split from the rest of the upper on one boot, and duct tape wasn't holding it together any more. I was debating whether to buy another pair of Columbia and then I realized I had the old pair more than 15 years. While I only wear them a few times a year in our climate, I figure it's like tires on your vehicle. Even if you don't drive much, sooner or later they will wear out. These appear very similar to my old pair from Columbia, and the fit is almost identical. I've found them to keep snow out even when it's over the top of the boot, although obviously if you're jumping around in deep snow you'll eventually get some in the top. But with the laces going pretty high, casual wearing while walking or shoveling means you stay dry. The top two levels allow you to pop the laces off, i.e., they're not threaded, they go around curved posts, so the upper fit is good. You can make them as tight or as loose as you want.I expect these will last as well as the last pair. The last ones were warm enough for the DC winters, but these are supposedly a little warmer than that. Looking forward to many seasons with them.
T.H.E. Best Winter Boots I Have Ever Owned, and at Such a Low Cost! ... Sizing Was a Fun Challenge
September 27, 2016
Best boots "ever made" for lightness, warmth, waterproofing, grip, ankle stability, price and even looks. Form follows function, they say. But I think these boots look better than any I could find anywhere. Now, finally getting the right size involved a lot of extra labor, but very much worth it. I absolutely needed boots with all these features, so was a very determined shopper; giving up was not an option. You are not going to believe this, but it is absolutely true:My feet are size 10.5, wide. I tried size 11 at a local store: too small. Ordered size 11.5: too small and had to return. So after trying on some similar boots at another local store, I found that these types do run small for some reason. Shortened story: I wound up ordering size 13, and they fit perfectly! So comfortable, I could wear them to bed, almost. Cannot wait for cold, wet weather to get here! I have no idea what you might have to go through to get the right size, but it is absolutely worth it; I am not kidding. These designers/manufacturers seem to know exactly what they are doing for us (except for sizing, I think). No idea how long these will last, but they seem very well made. Maybe I will remember to update this review in a year or so with durability info. If I do have to replace them some day, I will probably buy these again. I hope they are still on the market then. These make all the expensive boots at the big box sporting goods stores look like a complete joke.

Fits as expected, waterproof, good quality boots, good price
September 12, 2017
The stitching and overall quality of the show is good, as expected from Columbia. I do think they could have done a better job wrt glueing together the parts of the sole though. I tested the waterproofing in the shower, and they are waterproof as far as I can tell as my socks didn't wet, so I guess the poorer glueing didn't affect that aspect.I normally wear US size 11 in sneakers (Skechers, New Balance), and got the US size 11.5 boots as I would need to wear these with thick socks, and 11.5 was priced very cheaply compared to size 12 ($70 v $100). Turns out the boots fit well with normal socks, but they are a bit narrow, so with thick wool socks on, they feel a bit too snug for me at the ball of my feet. I like a looser fit, so I will be wearing them with thin ski socks for a comfortable fit.I will be bringing these to Harbin, China, in December, and expect -25C temperatures during the day, so if they aren't as warm as rated with my thin ski socks, I'll come back and edit the review.

September 5, 2017
Haven't worn them yet but I tried them on and they felt comfortable. They may need to be broken in but that's not a problem. It's the beginning of September and still hot, I tried them on and within 5 minutes my feet were hot. I'm pretty confident that they will keep my feet warm and dry.
Solid, Light-weight, Winter boot.
June 14, 2017
Was looking at many winter boots for the purpose of snow-blowing & working outside in Vermont Winters. Wanted a taller, lighter boot. Went with this Columbia over others I liked as well, primarily because it was listed at half price. Pros: Light-weight and comfortable. Narrow enough at top most pants will slide over easily. Goes on and off quickly. Water-resistant. Cons: A bit stiff, but to be expected for a taller boot that's not broken in. The charcoal w/red color was the sale item (the other colors look better) and it's a bit ugly, but it's for work purposes so that's not a concern. It's beginning of summer so I can not give a proper review on performance yet, but initial impressions are good.
Good Boot. Good Bye.
April 3, 2017
I usually wear a 10.5 so I got an 11 based on reviews; glad I did. The 11 fit well. The shoe is a good shoe and kept my feet warm and dry. Wore in the snow in about 45 degree weather. Sadly, I returned the boots because one of the shoelace mounts tore off. It was probably a quality anomaly since I haven't read that the same has been reported by other users.
Great boots overall, with a couple of caveats of course
February 15, 2017
I normally wear a 9.5, I had to return the size 10 I originally bought in these for a 10.5. ORDER A SIZE UP AT LEAST. Overall a very nice boot, lighter than my Danner leather hunting boots by a fair margin. The soles are VERY slippery on wet, smooth surfaces when new (almost killed myself on a set of wet wood stairs) so I had to rough them up a bit with 40 grit sandpaper, now they have far better traction. Warm and dry through cold rain so far, I stood in some ankle-deep muddy puddles with no issues at all.My only real gripe is the inner ankle area which has a large amount of somewhat stiff padding, enough to where it started to push and rub against my ankle after walking for less than an hour and created some raw skin problems for me. I don't know why this is there to this degree, I've worn boots for years and this is the first pair with this much padding there. Other than this they are very comfortable with no other pinching or rubbing.
Very Comfortable
November 3, 2015
Very comfortable with great support. Would be 5 Stars but I didn't anticipate the shininess of the top of the tongue. It's a little feminine for being on men's boots.

I really really like the way these boots fit
October 16, 2017
I really really like the way these boots fit . I’m giving a 3 Star at the moment because I’m getting a discomfort on my side of my calf on my right side . I’m hoping this will be fixed after I break them in more . As of now it is quite uncomfortable.I have only worn then 3 times .
The foot bed of the boot is warm and comfortable.
January 17, 2017
They fit as expected but due the height of the boot, they do rub my shins. My left shin actually bruised. I was using them right out of the box for a full day of snow shoveling/blowing. The foot bed of the boot is warm and comfortable.
Good boots but they ran small.
December 27, 2016
They really are great boots, I owned a pair before I bought these. Downside was this new pair ran small for some reason and the same size didn't fit. Had to send them back, might reorder.
Not worth price, uncomfortable, cuts off circulation after awhile
December 23, 2016
A little uncomfortable but still breaking them in. Though my toes went numb and the size fit perfect and didnt think was from cold they just cut of circulation after a while. Though would also not wear if was really cold out. So saving these in my car for just in case winter scenarios. My opinion not worth it...my regular steel toes non winter but water resistant boots did better and i was shoveling snow about 5hours straight.
They didn't even last 3 months…not happy
March 5, 2016
I bought these boots for my husband for christmas, and they started out great. They're light weight and great in the cold weather, but they already have a hole in the side and now his feet get wet. I want to replace them and am now unable to do so. I'm not happy about this purchase now, I expected these to last a lot longer since they are columbia brand boots, but they did not even last 3 whole months!!!
Tough boot but cold feet
February 27, 2016
Good sturdy boot, but the rubberized bottom part is cold- the uppers have the Columbia insulation (the silver looking stuff) and are toasty, but my feet get cold if I am standing on snow or ice very long. I will have to wear a thicker sock!

Uncomfortable
January 4, 2017
Most expensive and most uncomfortable boots I've ever had. Bought after having cold feet in my current boots, but these are no better. They are nice and stiff so maybe some protection against sprains when walking on icy uneven surfaces. I usually wear 10 1/2 shoes so got these 10 1/2, they do go on with very thick socks, but regardless are very uncomfortable in the toes.
Not for Northern WI temps ( unless you like cold feet)
December 21, 2016
Used them for the first time last week to shovel our driveway, it was about 8 below zero. Even though I was working up a sweat, my toes were getting knumb from the cold. My 10+ year old insulated hiking boots ( now with holes in them due to their age) never left my feet cold. Sadly these do, and they were purchased to replace my old hiking boots. They do have great traction and kept my feet dry but they aren't insulated very well especially on the bottoms. Kind of a disappointment , plus because I bought them earlier in the season and didn't need to wear them until after the return policy expired looks like I'm stuck with them. Bummer.
Columbia fell short with these.
December 17, 2016
Boots look amazing, and fit is spot on. But that's about it. I'll start by saying I'm a delivery driver, so lots of walking and in and outside all day.Performance is the real downfall. Boots aren't as warm as rated. Rated for -25, and after working 5 days in 20 degree weather feet were cold quite a few times. But the real problem is the waterproofing. First couple days no problems with 6-8" of snow. But the last 2 days but boots were completely swamped half way through the day.I really wanted to like these.
-25 degrees my a#&
December 15, 2016
First night wearing them hanging out in an insulated garage with a propane heater (about 40 degrees and 4 degrees outside) my feet got just as cold as wearing my uninsulated leather boots and I was wearing thicker socks than with my leather boots. These boots are heavily insulated around the ankle but the foot insulation is very thin (very contradictory) that said they seem well built and the treads do good on snow and they are light weight
Read the reviews, they are true...
December 15, 2016
I wanted these boots to be as amazing as they look, but I think mine are the defective ones that I have read about. Water comes in at the toe on both boots and the inner lining is ripped on one of them. I have owned and used these for about a week now with moderate use.
I have other size 9 winter boots and snow boots ...
January 15, 2016
I have other size 9 winter boots and snow boots so I felt confident that was the correct size. The fit is ok except for the width. At first it didn't seem to be a problem but after a couple of outings in relatively warm weather, I ventured out with temperatures in the teens and my feet got cold after about one hour. I know all there is to know about thermal socks etc. therefore FOR ME the issue is the tight fit of the boot at the ball of the foot: too narrow and too low with not enough stretch.I cannot add another layer of socks, nor can I insert a thermal inner sole (I use alpaca wool soles normally). So, if you have slightly wider feet either get a bigger size or buy something else.

Poor fit. Cheaply constructed.
February 4, 2017
All I can say is cheap, cheap, cheap. Poorly constructed. Left boot is missing stitching in the liner at the heel. It bunches up when putting the boot on. Too small for a heavy winter sock.No arch support whatsoever. I am returning these today and going back to North Face.
Not as expected...
January 22, 2017
Bought them for a trip to Iceland, Temps not even that cold approx 30 F. Feet felt cold, water got in even when just standing in 3 inches of water (supposed to be waterproof up to ankle). All in all not a good experience when ice cold water gets your feet wet on a full day photo shoot! I love Columbia but this boots do not live up expectations
I work as a ski lift operator and these were so uncomfortable I could not sleep after wearing them because my feet hurt so bad.
January 15, 2017
I ordered these a 1/2 size to big and they still were way to tight. I work as a ski lift operator and these were so uncomfortable I could not sleep after wearing them because my feet hurt so bad. At 11 degress my toes froze. My snow boots I bought at Good Will for $10 are infinitly superior
Too small
January 10, 2017
This item is so small that doesn't fit to my size. I ordered 10.5 and my actual size is 10 and still the item is so small.
Look elsewhere
December 17, 2016
Wore them to a football game with a pair of wool socks. My feet were frozen while tailgating. The whole game I was in pain. Rated for negative 32? bull. Next time I went to wear them one of the loops for the laces was broken. I just hope they keep my feet dry in the slush.
Poor Quality
December 14, 2016
These are very poorly made, so disappointed. My husband bought a pair of Columbia boots several years ago that held up very well, so we decided to get another pair for him this year. We've had them for 2 weeks, and he has probably worn them 5 times, and the inside has already ripped. I expected much better quality from a brand like Columbia, won't order them again. I took a picture of the inside but can't figure out how to include it in this review, but the inside seam has come apart. Edit to add the photo and explain, the piece on the back inside is what came apart, after very little wear, which I anticipate will further deteriorate very quickly with continued wear.
