They were easy to straighten out to lay flat on the bottom of the tank (I just ran them under hot water). They're easy to clean. Nothing in the tank can ingest them. They come in a variety of colors. They are woven to make it easy for creatures to hold onto them and walk on the floor. Seriously - if you're looking for a flooring for your aquarium, DON'T buy gravel/sand/etc. Buy THIS!The only issue is, if the current in the tank is too strong, the water can sometimes pick the mats up. I love totally love the look of these. incidentally, I bought them because I had bought a wooden tray from pier one, that was totally stupid, it made a glass ring mark every time you put a water glass on it. so I actually ordered these place matts to 'live on top' of that tray' forever, and I don't care what liquid gets on it now, these matts make the whole tray look amazing. These placemats are practically indestructible!These are nice placemats. I'm satisfied with my purchase. I have young grandsons that live with me and its impossible at this point to have the really expensive cloth placemats on my table so this is a good substitute. It has a pretty sheen to it, they don't look cheap, and it looks really nice on top of a tablecloth. My only complaint is that they are very thin, so I'm not sure how long it will hold up. Everyone complains about the crease that is down the middle. If you lay the mat flat, over time it will go away, or you can use the hot water method to ease out the crease.These mats are plastic, but you would never know without touching it. They look exactly as pictures in your offering. The color blue leans more towards turquoise and works very well with my room. I placed hot dishes on them and they are heat resistant as promised. June 24, 2015 I have never bought vinyl placemats before. We had them when I was a kid, and I associate them with sticky elbows. But I wanted to replace the heavy duty plastic shelf liner paper (the kind with ridges that can also be used in the fridge) with something a bit dressier for an exposed shelf in my kitchen. So I got these in gold.They are great. They are thin and they are flexible. And yes, they are elegant. The two tone color comes from using the reverse side as decorative elements on the opposite side. It's your choice which side to display. It's almost like they cut and sewed the different sides of the material into a design. When I first pulled them out of the box I thought they were a lattice weave with holes, but there are no holes. They just give that appearance because they are so thin. My problem with coasters is that, when I really need them, there is a certain amount of condensation dripping down the sides of the glass which usually just rolls off a standard coaster or pools. With these coasters, they have raised ridges which contain the water within them and also keep the glass out of it so it is less likely to drip on you when you raise the glass to drink from it. Live in Southern Florida and most of my drinks (water, ice tea, cranberry juice) come with tons of ice and condensation is a HUGE issue. I've tried ceramic tile coasters which are water proof but condensation rolls off. Cork based coaster suck up the water but dispense onto your precious furniture. Either way you are in trouble.These babies solve the problem:1) The water pools inside a basin. Can hold a considerable amount (16 ounce glass with tons of ice no problem).2) The water does not seep through. Four Star Reviews: | 16% Kinda cheap. But hey. August 17, 2016 Ehhh not sure what I expected, but my first thoughts when unwrapping them were "kinda cheap." The edges are completely unfinished. They also took forever to completely unroll themselves so they'd lay flat. So don't wait until the night before a big dinner party to unroll them and set the table. As has been said in other reviews, they're not solid and will allow just about anything to pass through to the table/tablecloth below. Liquid will go right through, a bite of sandwich won't. Something like.... a fallen square of lasagna would be pretty darn close. I think if you pulled the mat off the table right away, I wouldn't be surprised if no sauce got through. Wouldn't be surprised if a little got through either though. If that helps anyone at all. They DO let small crumbs and liquid through, not to mention heat... Hot soup bowls, coffee, or tea cups absolutely WILL damage the finish of something like our Bassett kitchen table... (And did.) But they came with a single 2.5" round silicone coaster that does indeed protect against heat and my wife has been using that since getting these and it's working fine. Silicone is the way to go if you must have heat protection... Do not expect them to protect your furniture from heat, liquid, or crumbs, but if you want a nice-looking place mat that is easy to wash and store they are great. Fancy and inexpensive.. August 11, 2015 This table mats are really nice. they took a bit of time to received but for the price it's worth the wait. They are easy to clean and they are very well made heavy duty and fancy.. what else can I say they do the job. The thing I wish they do doe is to use better packing since it was just in a plastic bag and since it's a long journey the bag got ripped and you can actually see the mats through the hole but thanks god they were only a little folded and dusty and that went away once I clean them. These look great in our home, and the raised edges and rubber bottoms hold glasses securely. The rubber strips on the bottom are raised, so condensation is drained away from the bottom of the glass. I have hand scrubbed them, and run them through the dishwasher a few times, and they have held up well. Just one caution: if you have pets, stray bits of fur will stick to the rubber, which does mar the clean look a bit. The rubber on top and bottom keeps them from sliding around. The lip holds a ton of condensation, then just flick it out onto the floor when you're ready to stack them u up again. They stack nicely and look appealing.Sadly it is true what another reviewer mentioned, the coaster is not actually stainless steel. It is a high density plastic. Not the kind of plastic that would get dents, but i can see how it could loose its metal finish coating if scratched. Nice design, condensation is still annoying July 25, 2015 Design-wise, I think they are super nice. for the most part, the condensation is helped by having the rows of rubber slightly above the metal base, but the water will pool up quickly if you keep it there for a while, which can be annoying. One of the bottoms had a weird bulge in it, and they definitely need to be washed every so often otherwise the rubber will stick to the glass when you pick it up, and then fall several seconds later. Great Coasters July 3, 2015 These are very well constructed coasters. I love the look of them and have no complaints other than I wish they were a little heavier for the price. The bottom is a non slip runner so I guess that is good for the fact it will stay put. I have had these for a couple weeks now and so far so good. We had some roasted red pepper sauce drip on it, and we weren't able to remove the stain fully. Would Not Buy Again - Shipped Folded February 8, 2016 They were shipped folded in half. I didn't think it would be a problem and that the crease would go away over time. Nope, still there after using for several months. If they had been shipped flat, they are a nice placemat and I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. Permanent creases December 17, 2015 These are nice looking place mats but they are folded into the packaging and it creates a crease down the center of the mats. I was never able to eliminate the creases. I've tried placing books on top of them, soaking them in hot water, and exposing them to hot air but nothing would eliminate the creases. Pretty good-- if you don't have kids or need to protect the table from messes. August 21, 2015 I bought these because someone said they clean easy...they do not, at all. Overall they look very nice, and if I didn't have kids they would work really well, but if you are buying them to keep food, messes off your table not so much. If a liquid, like a drop of milk gets on it, even submersing it and scrubbing doesn't always get it all out.
