Side by Side Comparison of: Castrol vs Mobil 1

I used this in my 2007 Honda Civic LX with the 1.8L. I tried Mobil 1 5w20 and it burned, tried Valvoline Synthetic Blend 5w20 and it burned too. I've never had any exhaust smoke from any oil but the car would randomly make 1/3 quart of oil disappear from time to time with no signs of leaks anywhere. I am happy to report that I am now just over 5k miles on my current oil change and the car has not burned a drop of this oil! Will be purchasing again!

It is what it is and I like purchasing it online because unlike brick and mortar it is always in stock.

I use this oil in my 2008 Toyota Camry because it dramatically reduces the pistol slap sound that I hear with other oils. The price on Amazon for this product is fantastic and about what I'd pay for non-synthetic at the local big box stores.If you've ever had issues with piston slap, which sounds a bit like knocking at cold temperatures but often fades or goes away entirely once warmed up, try this oil!

I've been using Castrol Synthetic Oil for years in our cars and trucks without any problems (my GMC has 240,000 miles and going strong). I purchase from Amazon when the price is equal to or less than I can get locally.

GREAT OIL! Stopped using the infamous Mobil 1 Synthetic because I found it burned very easily, even on low-mileage engines and with punctual oil change intervals. Since I've switched to Castrol Edge, I've noticed much less burning of oil from both level and color. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Especially if you're in the business!

Always worth the extra money to go with a full synthetic for that muscle car you keep in the garage. Does not breakdown and sludge as fast as conventional oil. Even if you don't put on a lot of miles, the oil still needs to be changed out over time. Have been running in all my vehicles (except my old beater pickup) for many years and have no complaints.

Excellent oil. Premium. Be sure to use a Mobile 1 oil filter as well.

Best brand for engine oil. use this for many years. Old car have no problem what so ever for 80K without any maintaince, except oil change. Now using it for my new cars.

The synthetic oil seems to protect much better. I have two trucks and use Mobil in both. I trust this product.

Mobil One EP has a group III and PAO base stock making it one of the best motor oils around. Great lubricant for gas engines.

At $23.77 delivered for a fully synthetic, brand-name oil, you absolutely cannot complain. Only negative is that the jug doesn't have the retractable nozzle like some do to help with pouring, but I ninja skilled it without a funnel anyway and didn't spill a drop!

Fair price for a good product. At the time I ordered it, it was a good price. Shortly after it arrived, Walmart lowered their price to $1.50 less. Not a big deal and I'm still satisfied.The only knock I will give on this order is that I ordered 3 jugs and they arrived loose in a large box. The box arrived barely holding together. It was torn and had holes punctured in the side. One jug was barely in the box. I was quite surprised none of the jugs sprung a leak. I'm satisfied and when it's time to reorder, I will certainly consider Amazon again.As a side note, I see some discussions about how long an oil is good for; or extended oil changes; or better protection. Take anything you read on the internet with a big grain of salt because if your engine fails, those comments mean nothing to the repair shop. Having said that, my truck oil change interval is 6 months/5,000 miles. That recommendation is with regular motor oil. Now that my vehicle is out of warranty, my choice when using synthetic is to go at least 8,000 but no more than 10,000 miles. I have friends that go 12K to 15K miles on their oil. We all stay on top of our maintenance, do periodic oil sample analysis, and log a lot of freeway miles. We feel we get the best bang for the dollar this way and reduce oil use/waste too.

Always do my own oil changes, use this on a 2010 Mercedes-Benz ML550. No issues.

Do not know what is going on here. I have 3 5 quart. I always shake mine to make sure I get all the additives. That's where I noticed a difference. This one I just got is just like water and my others are noticely thicker. It is 45 degrees so easier to tell. This is like 0w-30 not 5w-30 when shaking. Do not know if it is poor quality control by Mobil, improvement or what. Been using Mobil after switching from Amsoil hype for years and happy. No big deal I suppose but sending it back. FYI, this the only 100% Syn by VOLUME that Mobile makes I think. Over 17% Syn and you can call it 100% syn oil by Feds. The 17% is 100% as they say. Mobile One I think is a blend and that's why I also use that in another vehicle. See how this goes and might go back to Mobile One blend. I also use Schaeffer oil advailable on Amazon I think, in my Harley and very very impressed.

Hard to say how "great" this is. Didn't expect much as my car burns oil pretty fast. Put this in thinking it might hold up better, and it didn't.

no noticeable difference, on these type of lubricants I preferred the purple one, but guess what second option no brainer is Castrol

The Good....superb product. Would not use any other...the bad...post office delivery that left a mess on my porch....should fire the jackwagon who did this.

First off i understand that this isnt the most expensive oil but i was a little bit disappointed. In my Acura TSX it would burn off an entire quart and a half in a 4000 mile oil change interval and i noticed the engine wouldnt idle or run as smoothly as it did with the other oils I normally use. I do drive my car hard probably every other day so i was expecting it to burn some off but not nearly that much. I normally use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or Redline and i never have to top off the oil level with either of those. I know im being picky but you can really feel any little difference in the engine with a manual transmission so ill just stick to those.

To me it seemed essentially the same as regular old mobile one synthetic.

It's not the oil. It's the people that put it in a box. They don't pay attention. The sticker on the back is for the correct item... Extended Performance 5W-30. But, what shows up at your door THREE different times is: High Mileage 10W-30. Really? This, after I was 100% assured I'd get the correct thing on the 3rd try. NOPE! Same wrong thing... 3 freakin' times! I've even written on the sticker that this is not the correct item! I'm at my limit. REFUND!!!
