There are many things I love about this player
April 14, 2017
I have owned 5 different record players including a vintage turntable. There are many things I love about this player. I like that it has a dust cover that you can close while a record is spinning on it. It comes with a slip mat for under the vinyl. I like that it has an automatic arm that will play and return itself for you. I was nervous about having an arm that lowers itself onto the vinyl mechanically, I was scared it would eventually break and scratch up my vinyls. It has not done this and it has proven me wrong. It works so well and fluid.
There is a button to manually lower the arm at any point in the record, which is helpful for when you have something other than a 12" or a 7".
I have owned some lower end record players and I would recommend this over a Crosley any day. I've never owned one of those suitcase models, but I have used them, and don't even think about getting one of those. You will be so much happier with this turntable. The sound quality is great, and the Bluetooth was not a feature I was thinking I would use, but I was proven wrong again. The Bluetooth connects seamlessly with my soundbar that I use for my television. The sound quality is beautiful. I like the sound of vinyl and it really compliments the records even using a soundbar. If you are back and forth between models and can't decide, choose this one. I was you, couldn't decide and deterred by questionable reviews. Get this turntable, you won't be sorry.
Thanks for a great product audio technica!
Great value for your money (entry level turntable)
January 3, 2017
Great deal for your money if you want an entry level turntable for ocassional LP listening (my case). Can't explain myself with those technical or esoteric (lol) concepts about vinyl and turntables but I can say that this one meet my expectactions offering a great sound through a good old Akai system that I own. Bass run smooth and treble don't hurt that much. Stereo signal is very well placed and enough wide (I tested with the 2016 edition of Piper at the Gates of Dawn). This is a entry level turntable as I said, so there's no weight or antiskate arm control. What do you want for THAT price? Plugged through the PHONO input of my amp/receiver the LP60 is really a very easy gear to setup and enjoy. Very well packaged, understable user`s manual, 3 different cables for the 3 different configurations of listening you can choose. About the design is very simple (aluminium finishing) and maybe is a bit light, dust cover looks not that solid so an extra caution to manipulate it will be good.
A detailed comparison vs. the AT-LP120
December 26, 2015
The only thing that could be better is a vintage one in good shape. The problem with vintage is that how does one *really* know it is in good shape without taking it home? The best you can hope for is to discern that it actually works. If you don't have the time or money to gamble on vintage gear, go for this one.

I have 3 other turntables, against which to compare it:

1) Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB. (from here on, I will refer to this as the '120' and the AT-LP60 as the '60) This is a great turntable. It looks better, feels better, but I can't say that I can tell the difference in sound it produces. Some of the things we pay extra for on that model are:

a) Quartz timing control. This is something of value.
b) 78 RPM speed, if you want the option of being able to play back the pre-1950 records. This is something of value.
c) Manual pitch adjustment. I'm told some bad recordings had the speed off, so this is a way to manually correct it. I've got a couple hundred records, and have not yet found one that had the speed obviously off, so I can't see any value in this.
d) Reverse direction. I can't see any value in this either. Some records have hidden messages if you play them backwards. Seems like something that might give a little thrill to hear it once or twice, but to pay extra for this ability? Nah, just go listen to those albums on YouTube to get your thrill.
e) Electronic controls. These will probably hold up better many years down the road than the mechanical controls of the 60. No moving parts = fewer failure points.
f) Counterbalanced tonearm. In theory, this is better, as we can adjust the stylus to ride heavily enough in the grooves to provide good sound, but not so heavy as to cause undue wear to the records. I've read elsewhere where someone measured the weight at the stylus and found this one to be 3 g. When I got the weight adjusted properly on my 120, it was 2.5 g. Not a notable difference, in the end.
g) S-shaped tonearm. They say this is better, but I'll be darned if I can hear the difference.
h) Interchangeable headshell and cartridge. They say a change of cartridge makes a big difference in sound. Some people will spend hundreds of dollars on high-end cartridges to tailor the sound just to their liking. That seems silly to me. Why not just adjust the tone controls on one's amplifier? Or get a proper EQ component. Anyway, I can admit there could be some value in this.
i) USB out option. The 60 is available with this too, for an extra $20. It works great with the free Audacity software. I've ripped several LPs to .wav and .mp3. It's worth paying extra for this feature, if only to make the records portable. But you don't need to upgrade to the 120 to get it.
j) Much heavier. The 120 has a big steel plate inside. I'm not sure what is up with this obsession for vibration dampening. There's no discernable difference in sound as a result of all this damping. Any difference heard would be mostly down to the cartridge.
k) LED strobe, to confirm at a glance that the RPM is correct.

More comparison between the 60 and 120 later.

2) Ion Vinyl Transport turntable. This uses the same mechanism as the ever-popular Crosley Cruiser, but adds battery operation, which I love. With the battery operation option, it is totally portable, not just portable in theory. I bring this to me to the Goodwill and other places for listening to used records. Gotta find out if those scratches are "skippers" before paying the full $1 and taking up room in my apartment for more junk. I bought this for sixty bucks at a local Half Price Books store, which also sells records. I just love this turntable, but it is not at all in the same league as this AT-LP60. It has a ceramic cartridge instead of magnetic. Sound quality is pretty terrible in this class of turntable. If you're listening to a Crosley with this mechanism, you're really missing out on how good vinyl can actually sound.

3) Fisher-Price from 1978. I just gave this to my daughter for Christmas. Check feeBay, you'll see the one. Believe it or not, this has a much better speaker than the Crosley/Ion/Jenson ones, and hence, better sound quality. But of course not comparable to this one, since it still has a ceramic cartridge. For techno-geeks, it has a really interesting drive mechanism though! (check YouTube for 'how to repair a fisher-price turntable)

Now if you're looking at this turntable and you're on a budget, you're likely also looking at the 120 model, for over double the price. Having both of them now, I think this 60 is a much value. For the money, it gives just what one is after:

1) Affordable
2) HiFi-grade sound
3) Not too big or heavy
4) Semi-automatic operation. This is the key difference. It makes it very nearly as convenient to play a record as a CD, yet we still have the option to do it manually.

The 60is about 40% smaller and 70% lighter than the 120, yet it functions just as well. It doesn't take up as much room, and it isn't a back-breaker to occasionally move around.

The one con I've found so far about this turntable is that it comes with a felt slip mat. (same as on the 120) These are a disaster when it comes to static. I opened my 60 yesterday for Christmas, then re-packed it to bring home. I wasn't careful enough in repacking, and I crunched up the edge of the slip mat, so now the records don't spin flat. I pressed it underneath something heavy and flat last night, but it is still jacked up. I've got a couple cork ones inbound to replace these. That will address the static problem, as well as the crunched up problem.

In short, the 120 is probably a much heavier-duty turntable. It will run hour after hour, year after year and keep going. No belts to break, no mechanics to break, nothing to really go wrong, except maybe electronic. But considering it is basically a copy of the famous DJ-favored Technics 1200, which was a mature design to begin with, that's probably not even a concern.

The 60 is a lighter-duty unit. It MIGHT wear out after 10 years of constant, heavy use. But its a lot more affordable, a lot more convenient, and a lot lighter and smaller. (though it can still operate fully with the dust cover down)
Excellent turntable for the price!

I'm not an audiophile or a tech head, but I am a musician and I generally know what I like to hear. I know what sounds 'bad' to me, and I know what sounds 'good' to me. And to me, this turntable goes significantly beyond 'good'.

I have a fairly simple setup. I have this turntable connected to a Sonos Connect, and I send the audio to a group of Sonos Play:1 speakers throughout the home and occasionally the Sonos Playbar as well.

The turntable itself was a breeze to set up. Removed all the packaging and securing tape, put the turntable in place and fed the drive belt over the drive spindle, plugged in the power, plugged in the audio cables, and removed the needle cover. I was playing a record in 5 minutes from the UPS guy delivering this.

There is incredible clarity across the entire audible spectrum. The lows are deep but not muddy. The mids are punchy but not over-powering. The highs are crisp but not shrill.

For the price, I don't think I could have done any better. I love this turntable!
Just pull the trigger
December 10, 2011
Just got one of these shipped all the way to Austria, was worried for a couple of days that the voltage and cycle frequency difference would be a problem, but it's absolutely not so. In the meantime I exchanged emails with Audio Technica's service center and support, and got a prompt reply that it's a DC controlled unit, meaning that if it's not a 120V current where you live, a simple voltage converter is sufficient.

The sound just blew me away, I put the unit straight through a test of fire by running it into a professional audio interface with direct monitoring (no AD/DA conversion), and from that to a pair of active Genelec studio monitors. To top it all, I fed it "The Headhunters" by Herbie Hancock. All I can say is wow. Super clean, full sound from the preamp in the unit, very good signal to noise ratio (barely audible hissing and crackling between tracks, not really perceivable when there's any kind of music going on). Let's see if it runs this well over time, so far I'm very impressed. Five stars.

BTW, if you check out the negative comments, some are talking about "how short the RCA cables are", and some are talking about the unit's "low volume". That's just audio ignorance running high around here. It comes with a pair of cables with which you can make an extension in two seconds, and the "low-volume" is because it comes with the pre-amp turned off. All you need to do to solve this "problem" is use your fingers to flip a switch in the back of the unit to "line" instead of phono. And if you complain that "assembling" the unit is difficult (putting three pieces together before running it), you're just beyond hope.

Gift for Dad
April 23, 2013
I did not know much about Turntables and was a very cautious buyer. I was looking for a turntable to turn my fathers record collection digital. This Numark TTUSB Turntable with USB seemed to be the most affordable and best value. I gave it to my father's birthday 2 years ago and he loves it. The first few days he really went nuts uploading all of his records on to the computer, it worked well and it created decent quality soundtracks. I consider this a great purchase for people who are good with computers. If you are a little bit less computer literate, I would not recommend it.I initially didn't like the fact that there is no lid or protector over it, there is one you can buy separately. We haven't needed it and it sits right on top of our stereo system next to the computer screen, occasionally things get set on it but it has not effected the products performance.
Great turntable for ripping vinyl.
December 15, 2012
I've been looking for a LP to MP3 converter for years. Every time I do research on them I found that people either loved or cursed the day they ever bought the converter. Most of the time it was the later. However, with this Numark it came highly rated so I ordered it as the majority of users had great experiences.Pros:Very easy to use and setup.Works great with iTunes.Splits the tracks.Cons:Track splitting isn't an exact science and I've found that it depends on the LP. I've converted several LP's with no problems, all the tracks are pulled in. However, I've converted LP's with long pauses in vocals were the software splits the track anyway. I've had a 12 track LP converted and split into 24 tracks. Sometimes it's just a few tracks split, but it's a guessing game on LPs that are very old, dusty, and with lots of instrumental/vocal breaks in the song.Despite the odd track splitting on a few LP I really am glad that I purchased this. If you go in with the expectation that you will have to do some song editing with split tracks you will not be disappointed with this turntable. However, if you are quick to get angry that this Numark doesn't split the tracks accurately then look elsewhere. I've discovered that the track splitting option in the software is not an exact science, I'm okay with that. I just want to get the music on digital and that's all that matters to me.
Excellent turntable for digital conversion
March 24, 2012
I was a little nervous about ordering this because I saw so many negative reviews, but I decided to plunge ahead and go for it anyway. I have to say that I am very pleased with this turntable- it is doing an excellent job of converting my old vinyl to digital. Right now, I'm converting a bunch of old 7" singles and there haven't been any problems.Actaully, that's a little fib- my first couple of attempts sounded horrible, and I was starting to get a little concerned that I had made a bad purchase. however, after about 20 minutes or so of fiddling with the counterweight of the tonearm, I got great results. I've converted about 50 7"s so far, and they all worked great- sound is wonderful, considering the age of the vinyl. My only beef is with the software- it installs quickly, and is very user-friendly, but it doesn't really allow you to do any sophisticated editing, and it only saves the music in Apple's iTunes format. Still, it's not enough for me to knock a star off the ratings.I would definitely say this is a must-buy for anyone looking to preserve their old records.
Just what I've been wanting!
September 4, 2008
This is just what I've been wanting to convert my old LPs, 45s and Cassettes to CDs. I studied the reviews while waiting and downloaded all the documentation I could from Numark. As a result, I was able to see that most of the negative reviews seemed to be a result of not reading and following all the instructions clearly. A few were from faulty equipment which should be corrected by a return/new turntable. Those that complain about no sound? - Read the notes on Control Panel. Just reset your Playback default device! The most common negative comment given has been the lack of a dust cover. To me, this is minor. I had some old burgundy velvet fabric that (when trimmed to a rectangle) was just about the right size. I just cover the entire turntable with this fabric when I'm not using it.For me, everything boiled down to -Pros:Does exactly what it says it does. I'm not a audiophile. I just wanted my old recording in a more easily used format.Easy to use - I had no problem with Audacity. I did not use the CD. I downloaded the newest version prior to my turntable being delivered and just waited to install it. The assembly was simple and easily done.Split larger recording - Splitting a longer recording (in my test case, 6 songs) into the separate tracks AND naming them was very very nice!Stereo Input Jack - I did purchase the extra cable to be able to convert my cassettes and that adds to my enjoyment by being able to convert those to CDs as well. Of all the turntables I studied prior to purchase, this was the only one that that that feature.Cons - All minor (non serious enough to cost a star):No Dust Cover - Make your own with a piece of heavy cloth.Audacity missing one "preference" - It's a minor pain to have to specify "monitor input" every time!No clear information as to what setting the Phono/line switch on the back should be for use in USB mode. I left it in "Phono" (default) because the Line setting had warnings. I figured if it didn't work, it was easy to change.Non-removable RCA cables - Since this is NAMED "USB", it's kind of silly that these cables are not removable!Over all - I would give this 6 stars but 5 was as high as it went. I was very very happy with my first attempt.
Try it, you'll like it.

Like many of my generation, I have a large collection of vinyl recordings. Many of the performances are historic but no longer available. For example, I have a live recording of a memorial Mass for John F. Kennedy with Joseph Cardinal Cushing as celebrant, the Mozart Requiem with choir and full orchestra. I have Anna Moffo's Traviata and Maria Callas' Lucia. I have a recording of the Mozart Horn Concertos by Dennis Brain. I have Van Cliburn, Miles Davis, and other performers no longer recording. These recordings, and others, are so rare that I am reluctant even to play them.I have a great JVC turntable to play them on but until the last few weeks, turntables had all but disappeared from the (non-eBay) market. So I was intrigued when I saw the Numark TTUSB advertised in a catalog. It promised me the ability to digitize these recordings. While they would never be modern reocordings and do show wear, the digital transcription will never get any worse.I immediately ordered the Numark but my order was never acknowledged or shipped. When I thought about it again, I Googled it and Google directed me to "Old Faithful." Three days later, I had it.First let me say that this is a very high quality turntable, at least as good as my JVC for which I paid three times as much in 1960 dollars. But of course the feature that distinguishes it is that it comes with USB output. While I might have been able to wire my JVC through the mic input on my PC, at my billing rate, I could not have done it for the price of this device. While it was clear that the package was supposed to include a shell and a cartridge, they were missing from mine. Again, at my billing rate, I could not afford the time to return it so I just used the ones I already had.The package did include the (free amatuer) Audacity software. This is a full-featured package but it is easy to learn and use. The documentation was charitibly short and clear. I did use it and it did save me some grief, mostly in setting up Windows on my PC. The software contains a dozen or more "effects" that can be applied to the audio, including a one-button one to remove vinyl "pops and clicks." While I expected to make MP3s and while the package does support MP3 at some level it requires a third component. Since I have iTunes, an iPod, and an Iphone, so far I have saved as AIFF and as Audacity "projects." The latter are editable and can be saved to other formats.I have done a dozen projects and have that many more queued up. It is not quite a new hobby but I have yet to tire of it. It has re-introduced to me some wonderful music. Try it, you'll like it.
Freedom! I Love It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 14, 2007
I read SO many reviews before buying this turntable (comparing all the different ones I could find) and this one sounded like it was easy for people to use--even non-computer, non-audio savvy people, and it's TRUE! Yes, the included software is not intuitive (but you get used to it relatively quickly)and yes, there is no dust cover (major inconvenience, as I have a cat who likes to climb on things--yet, somehow, she's learned to stay away from it). But that said--when I got it, I promptly transferred my old Shaun Cassidy & Superbubble records (hideous scratches, pops, and all) and they sound GREAT (not to mention, I can't even find MP3s or even CDs of some of those tracks anywhere). It was easy to clean them up and eliminate some scratches and pops that I was sure I'd have to listen to forever, without damaging the quality of the song itself. And my Beasite Boys sounded just as good, too.I am comfortable around computer and audio equipment, but considering the non-intuitiveness of the included software, there was still a learning curve, but within a few hours, I felt like a pro (seriously!). And best of all: I have my record collection back! I feel like I've been let out of sonic prison, and it feels GREAT. And even better--the price of the turntable is amazing, considering that it has now given me the ability to transer my records (all 500+ of them--saving me easily $5,000 to digitize songs I may never hear again any other way). I cannot tell you how exciting it is to be able to listen to my records on my computer & ipod now. It feels ridicuously exciting and makes me SO happy! I'm so glad I made this purchase. Oh--and another plus--I now have the capacity to digitize my grandparents' 78s. Talk about a blessing--I'm thrilled!

Pretty okay
March 27, 2017
I know these fall more into the "Toy Table" type of record player, but they have worked well for me. Im sort of new to the Vinyl game, but this has held up. After moving and leaving it shaking around in the UHaul, i did find that it was playing at a slightly high RPM. It was a simple fix once I looked it up online. You just need a phone app that can tell you the RPM of your table and then adjust one screw at the bottom.

Overall, solid purchase. The quality matches the price: no more, no less.
Perfect gift for my dad
February 9, 2017
I'm no expert on turntables, but I do know it sounds good and my dad can now listen to his record collection again. I got it on sale during the holidays and I couldn't be happier neither could he.

If you just want access to vinyl, this is the turntable for you. It sounds as good as any other music device to the untrained ear and untrained it shall stay.
Good turntable for the money.
December 23, 2016
For the price it's a nice turntable. I had a Pioneer PL-530 back in 1977 that was direct drive and one of the best at the time but it was very expensive back then. To be honest this one plays as good, minus the strobe and a few features. This unit looks nice too. Wish vinyl records never went away for so long because they truly sound better. This will be just fine for someone that wants good quality without spending hundreds more.
Nice Turntable for the price
July 26, 2016
Bought this for my sons birthday to replace an old cheesy record player he has been using. Nice quality overall and works great. Sounds great with the Edifier R1280T Powered Bookshelf Speakers I also ordered. Overall both my son and I are impressed with how this turntable has worked out.
Best Option In The Price Range
February 28, 2015
I recently moved cross-country, and one of the many things I had to sacrifice in the move was my old turntable (and entire stereo system, really). This saddened me, but it gave me an opportunity to buy my first-ever NEW turntable, as all of my previous ones were 1970s or 80s models that had been picked from yard sales or handed down to me. I'm not entirely sure if that means I have a high or low standard -- many people swear by turntables from that era, but I can't claim to be able to tell the difference, unless we're talking about a high-end Technics model.

Now, to the AT-LP60. I had been weighing this purchase for some time, debating between this and a similar Pioneer model, but was ultimately swayed toward this one by the sheer quantity and quality of reviews. I hooked it up to a basic Yamaha home-theater-in-a-box, so my speakers weren't exactly Bowers & Wilkins. After figuring out the preamp feature, the setup was surprisingly quick -- just attach the belt and assemble the pieces of the turntable. Assembly took about 5 minutes. It has fairly simple controls -- just buttons for stop/start, changing speed from 33/45, and raising and lowering the needle.

As for pure sound, I can't say this is the best turntable I've ever used, but one would be hard-pressed to find a better one in the $100 budget range. I'll probably upgrade at some point within the next few years, once I'm able to justify spending more money on a stereo setup -- but for now? This is all I could really ask for.

Sounds very nice!
May 9, 2017
I really like this turntable. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it doesn't have a built-in dust cover (they over a cloth cover to throw over it, UGH!) and there's no place to put the 45 adapter that comes with it, so that will make it very easy to lose, but otherwise, it sounds really nice and works well. I hope that I will get years of enjoyment out of this.
EZ software not supported by iTunes v 11.0.3 & higher
July 26, 2013
The Numark TTUSB is a great product. It comes well packaged with all the parts you need to record 33 vinyl records (45 adapter not included, but I knew that when buying). It is easy to assembly and software download is easy. The downside is the EZ software is not compatible with iTunes versions 11.0.3 and higher on the MAC. I went to the Ion Audio (EZ software maker) forum and other folks were having the same issue. Ion Audio is aware of the issue and stated that they are looking to upgrade the software but unsure when that will be. Those on the forum who have PCs found a work around using ripvinyl. Luckily my partner had an older version of iTunes and is able to export all the records to iTunes without any issues. The product itself is great but just want to warn folks about the software issue.
Solid engineering with the adjustments you want
June 13, 2013
This turntable is excellent. There are many adjustments that are very useful. I like the fact that I can easily change cartridges and keep my needle fresh. The quality of the recording is top. In this turntable, you will pay for solid engineering to record your vinyl (or 78's).The only con I wish was different is the tone-arm lift. I have to do that manually as well as watch the for the end of the record. Since I am recording a whole side, the end of the record is not a big deal as I have to manually stop recording anyway. The software con is the software. It does not work well at all. However Audacity works great - so I use that. Another review here has lengthy instructions on how to use it with this turntable. Though, lengthy, it is simple to set-up and use. With Audacity, I can totally bypass ITunes since I don't care for that software either. If this had better software, it would easily be 5 stars. I can easily see why the price was several hundred dollars higher when it came out. To the people who bemoan not having a dust cover: use an old sheet or some piece of cloth.
Just what I was looking for.
November 9, 2012
I read all of the reviews prior to making the purchase. The two things I would have liked that I knew I would not get are a dust cover and a lift for the arm. Currently a hard dust cover is listed on Amazon for more than the cost of the turntable. Too expensive -- I'll settle for making something or just putting a towel over the unit. No practical solution for the lift arm. But I knew about these issues before the purchase. Still, had either the lift arm, or a quality dust cover been included, I would have given five stars.I had some concerns with the software but it seemed like enough options were available that I could get along. My primary purpose for purchasing this is to put my vinyl on the hard drive (and then to CDs). The only software that came with my TTUSB is EZ Audio Converter. This is a very simple program and serves my needs quite well. The one additional feature I would like would be a pause option next to the new track button. This would be helpful when turning the record over to avoid the long lead in on the first cut of side two (or 20 seconds of silence at the end of the last cut from side one). It is easy to trim that excess for playback purposes in iTunes, but it is still on the hard drive and I'd rather not have it there at all.The turntable was very easy to set up. Again, I had the advantage of having read the reviews and knew in advance about some of the problems others had. The instructions were good enough that anyone reading them carefully should have seen the solution to any problems they encountered. It would be nice for the RCA cables to be removable. I have my Numark TTUSB on a shelf above my iMac. I ran the RCA cords up and secured behind the next shelf up and have had none of the problems that others wrote of regarding these cables. Note that at present I have no use for them and don't expect to attach the turntable to anything but my computer and that, of course, is via the USB cable.I have had little problems with static or excess noise. Note that I do not consider myself an audiophile. Others might be fussier than I am.
Works Well and Excellent Value
July 14, 2010
I am fairly typical of someone who buys a USB turntable. I have about 350 albums that are too good to throw away but I don't play them anymore because playing LPs isn't very convenient compared to CDs. I am not all that well versed in acquiring and managing MP3s, and I'm not a techie audiophile either. So, for me, the Numark TTUSB turntable is perfect for my needs and requirements, especially at the Amazon price.I unpacked the unit, followed the very clear instructions, and had my first MP3 recorded in about 30 minutes using the EZ Vinyl Converter program provided by Numark. EZ Vinyl reads the USB input and uploads the music into iTunes to produce the MP3 files. However, I had two problems with EZ Vinyl: 1) It's too simplistic, and 2) It often failed to upload any songs after the first one on an album side. It's too simplistic because you have no control over the results, such as correctly dividing an album side into separate tracks. So then I had resort to using Audacity, and, after learning it, I never looked back. It is fairly easy to use, and the Numark instructions to get you started are effective. Afterward I had much better control over the production, and I have yet to learn all of Audacity's features and functions. After recording a few albums, I figured out that the pickup cartridge that comes with the unit is likely to be inferior. I remember from my stereo days of the 1970s that having a good quality cartridge is essential. The best speakers, receiver and turntable in the world won't result in good sound if you have junk for a cartridge. So I drove down to one of the last remaining stereo stores in my area and bought a $49 Ortofon OM 5E -- not expensive by any means -- but what a difference it made compared to the Numark stock cartridge. So spend the extra money a get decent cartridge. So I went to town recording 3-5 albums per day and then figured out that the software tools I was using (Windows Media Player, Windows Explorer, and iTunes) were insufficient for managing all of these MP3 files I'm cranking out. I want to correctly set the ID3 tags (e.g., song title, album title, artist, genre, year, etc.) for all my MP3s but what I was using was cumbersome. So I found a very useful program called Mp3Tag. It's free software and it can be found at [...]. It lets you very easily set all of your ID3 tags for your MP3s, including attaching album covers to songs. I get the album covers from the web site [...]. In all, it wasn't that difficult to reach the point I'm at now, efficiently converting my LPs to MP3s.As for the TTUSB unit itself, it seems to be of very good quality, but don't expect it match the quality and features of good turntables from your past. Compared to my 1979 Technics SL-3200, the TTUSB is missing a dust cover, cueing control, automatic return at the end of the record, and a timing strobe. The TTUSB is very basic, but if all you're doing is using it temporarily to convert your albums to MP3s, it's more than acceptable for that purpose. Though having cueing control would be nice.So for the money I spent, and the results I'm getting, I'm quite happy with the Numark TTUSB.
The Numark TTUSB Turntable
November 5, 2007
This Numark USB turntable addresses a very old problem for me... that of easily creating digital files from selected tracks- from my 2000+ licorace pizza albums and vintage 45's.There are good points to this turntable, and some negatives. The parent company (Numark) also markets the "ION 'iTTUSB" turntable. The differences (besides graphics & price) between the Numark and ION are: the ION has a PLASTIC platter; the Numark has a DIECAST & MACHINED ALUMINUM platter (better mass, for more consistent disc speed). The Numark TTUSB has an "S" shaped "tone arm," where-as the ION has a straight arm; the cartridge on the ION has a non-replaceable needle in the cartridge, where-as the needle IS replaceable on the TTUSB; the TTUSB has a rather rudimentary "speed control," which they call "pitch control," which the ION does NOT have. Here is where the differences end. BOTH are of (nearly all) plastic construction. BOTH are "belt-driven," as opposed to "direct-drive." NEITHER has "cueing" ability (which makes it easier to place the needle on an album, and selecting EXACTLY where you wish to place it), and both have an adjustable tone arm "mass weight," for placing the correct pressure on the needle (or stylus). The Numark TTUSB also has an "anti-skate" adjustment. There is NO (factory) dust cover available for either. Weight between the ION & Numark is nearly identical (12 lbs; shipping is about $1 per pound). They both will come with a CD- which has "Audacity;" this is the software which IS the "go-between," and makes it possible for you to save your (digitized) audio tracks; it also helps you to edit any flaws out. While the "TTUSB" is not a perfect solution, is IS a better solution than the ION; I found an ION for $106; the Numark I found was $120. While the dollar amout may seem expensive for what you are getting, what you are paying for here, IS convenience.ONE OTHER thing: IF you do opt for the Numark TTUSB, do yourself a favor- invest in another headshell and buy an Audio-Technica cartridge with the elliptical, nude diamond stylus. IF you are going to record your prize music, do it right. The AT magnetic cartridge is superior to what you are furnished. You CAN swap pick-ups, and you WILL need a separate set-up (cart & needle) for your 78's. REASON? The 78 groove IS MUCH larger than the groove on the 33's & 45's. And also- they say that the cartridge comes "pre-installed" on the headshell... all well & fine, BUT you will NEED a special gauge to align the cartridge (on the headshell) for 0 (that IS "ZERO") degrees tracking error at 2-1/2" radius (from the spindle). The "jig" or gauge CAN be had. I'm glad that I readjusted the "factory assembled" headshell & cart, and have purchased the Audio-Technica cart & needle. My other 2 turntables are direct-drive (beltless), have cueing and an adjustable speed control. BUT they lack the USB connection.Have FUN, and ENJOY.

Slowdown Issue
March 6, 2017
After a week of daily use I've run into a problem where record will occasionally slow down and then get back up to speed.

Doing some reading and it seems like this is a rather common problem with the LP60. I saw suggestions that the belt that comes with the LP60 is crappy which causes the slowdown issues. I was told I should get the $40 upgrade kit which provides a new stylus and belt which may fix the problem.

If this fixes it I would consider this $140 record player not $100. If it doesn't then I'm afraid I've wasted my money and i'll be on the hunt for a better unit.
A starter deck to use for perhaps a year, while stalling before finding or purchasing something better.
October 11, 2015
This is what it is: a practical, affordable, entry-level record player to test the waters before making sure that you want to plunge into vinyl and/or a full sound system upgrade.

Pros: Affordable. Easy to use. Automatic. Line-out feature (preamplifier) needed for most modern receivers is there. Overall - it plays records!!

Neutrals: Upon purchasing this turntable, I also purchased a better stylus and belt from another website (I think it is actually called something obvious like "ATLP60 upgrade")! After a year, I finally added a lower-end external preamplifier (TCC TC-750LC) as a test. It has improved the sound significantly - there is now much more range, sound is less 'flattened' out to my ear and less muddy. But...

Cons: The sound is just not where it should be even with the better stylus, belt, and amplifier. After a year of ownership, fiddling with everything on my receiver (Marantz), speakers (Polk RTiA1s and RTiA5s, and, recently, a vintage set), comparing cds to records, listening to records on other systems, etc., I'm no longer satisfied with this turntable. The cartridge cannot be changed (without, as I understand it, some seriously invasive cutting and soldering), there is no ground wire for external amplifiers, and the RCA cables are hard-wired in (they can't be switched out). Also, the RCA cables are VERY short. The entire thing save for the turntable itself is plastic, plastic, plastic.

Bottom line: If you're not sure what the future holds regarding your interest in records and turntables, this is a good place to start. If you want a GREAT record player, this is not the deck for you.
Very basic turntable
September 14, 2015
Very cheaply made - very light. No real counterbalance on the tone arm. The last turntable I purchased was 35 years ago and this one doesn't even compare in terms of quality or fidelity. I was disappointed at the sound using my old albums even through my old Yamaha receiver. The usb connection is helpful for connecting with my pc. if you are looking for a cheap turntable to transfer vinyl to mp3 then this may serve your needs. If you are interested in listening to albums like we did in the olden days then look for a better unit. Be forewarned - this turntable doesn't deliver the true fidelity of the 70's and 80's.
Just edited this review. After 8 months the last one I purchased is playing all records fast.
March 14, 2015
We are on the 2nd one I bought from Amazon. This is the 2nd one I've gone through in 2 years. The first one the Arm mechanism screwed up. This one I have only had for 8 months. It is playing all my 33 1/3 records fast. There is no adjustment for pitch so I can no longer recommend this Turntable for purchase. These are entry level and throwaway if anything goes wrong. I just bought a Sony entry level turntable. See if that works out better for me. I have changed my stars to three from five I originally gave it and that is being generous.
Looking for different model after 3 weeks
January 21, 2015
I've had this little guy for 3 weeks now, used daily. Most of the reviews said for the money cant beat it; while this is probably true I have noticed a few things that keep if from being 5 stars.

Sound- this is no $12k hand crafted fine tuned precision piece, but sounds pretty damn good...especially for the money. See the theme developing?

Equipment- shipped with a F/M to 3.5mm jack which for my setup was needed, this wasn't explained in the one I bought and so I now have 2. :(. Helpful. ive noticed the static builds up pretty quick with the out of the box setup. The belt drive was easy to setup but doesn't come put together. Anyone with half a brain should get this to work no problem.

The problems I've experienced are as follows. I have serveral brand new pressings, cleaned and prepped for listening. I've experienced random skipping on a few diffent albums and at different places on the records. Again these are brand new pressings skipping on first play, with no dust or scratches on viynl. The other problem I have had is the needle lift button feels spring loaded, and on mine doesn't return pretty much everytime. Which if left unchecked keeps the needle just on the viynl and that's no good. I have to pull out the button if I use it to lift the head so the needle sits properly. Picture added one shows the button pressed in completely, the other after releasing the button but not returning to its start position.

Overall for the money it's not bad...but if you're into this in a semi serious way take the money you'd spend on this unit and get its better built sister or another player all together. I'm already looking at getting a replacement. This is only after 3 weeks.

Does what it says but clumsy
February 15, 2016
I use this for transferring my dads old LO's to digital music. The item does what it says but the software is a bit clumsy and hard to get used to but it gets the job done. What would make this a lot better is a better software program to run it and do the conversions.
but could not find an easy way to do it that was intuitively obvious
June 7, 2015
shipped with really old software that was dependent on itunes, required several attempts to get the applicable software and editing software. Setting output level to match output of purchased mp3 file took some fiddling. Couldn't find a way to set it as default, always had to resetthe levels when I started recording. The final file has extra background noise that needs to be filtered out. Haven't figured out how to do that yet. I can live with the extra hissing and scratching until then. It says you can filter those noises out, but could not find an easy way to do it that was intuitively obvious.
No queuing and old digitizing software.
August 11, 2014
This OK but I was really disappointed to learn that there is no kind of queuing mechanism for the tone arm. Not even when the record id over. I have to manually place and pick up the tone arm, which of course is always an opportunity to scratch the vinyl. Also the digitizing software does not work out of the box. I have downloaded the latest version but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.
Some set up tips...
July 28, 2012
I purchased this turntable so my boyfriend could listen to records at my place. I am strictly a digital girl and haven't had a turntable since 1986. We chose this model based on the reviews, price, and our need (nothing fancy). The set up instructions were minimal and there are lots of confused folks on the Internet posting questions. I may not write these tips in the techie jargon, but I think some of you may benefit:Computer set up:-Download EZ Vinyl Converter (free-available online and a disc came with mine; online version may be more recent then the version in the box) [...]-Download Audacity (free). 2.0.1 is latest version [...]-Input/Output settings. I use a Mac. I'm sure PC input/output settings are similar. HAVE THE TURNTABLE PLUGED IN TO THE COMPUTER WITH USB - That way the computer will recognize the device for sound settings. Lots of ways to get to audio-I go, applications>utilities>audio midi. Some computers default to the wrong settings. Set it to:Default Input to USB Audio CodecDefault Output to Built In AudioTurntable set up:This was pretty straightforward (belt, platter, on/off buttons, etc) except for the tonearm instructions. There are numerous posts on the web about this that get really deep. This is the down and dirty-there is a dial and a counterweight at the end of the tonearm (after you put it together per the manual). Turn the dial with numbers on it to Zero. Just the dial, keep the counterweight still. Then rotate the dial AND the counterweight to read 3.5.Now you are ready to play a record:-Have EZ Vinyl open (I don't get it, but that is the only way mine will play even though I am not recording)-Have Audacity open (make sure the input and output settings are the same as I listed above. Mine defaulted to the settings I had done in Midi.-In Audacity look for the left and right input and output level meters (next to a microphone icon). There is a black arrow that points down. Click the black arrow and select "start monitoring" from the drop down.I gave it 3 stars because of:- The amount of time it took for us to set up. I am not sure why the company does not put together simple, step-by-step instructions. There are multiple posts from both Mac and PC users that have experienced difficulty with the set up.-It doesn't come with a dust cover. I totally missed that when I made my purchase. I just ordered one on Amazon for 25 bucks.-The sound is just okay. (I do realize that this turntable is less that $100.)I hope this helps keep someone from experiencing the frustration of getting this turntable to work!As for arrival and condition of the product-very fast and packing was great.
Nicely priced unit but folks need to know a few things
April 6, 2010
It amazes me that most all of the USB turntables lack a cue control. It must be a conspiracy to get you to buy more styluses than you should need. No dust cover, either, but rather than spend almost $30 for one, I use a bandana.Although it's second nature to old folks like me, remember that this is a turntable. They can skip if you don't put it on a stable surface or if you stomp around too much. You also have to clean your records, and record cleaning supplies aren't so easy to find at your local Best Buy or whatever.I found that the gain default at 0 isn't satisfactory for recording, and the gain needs to be adjusted upward. This needs to be done at the start of each session with the unit, since it defaults back once you disconnect the unit. It's simple to use and gets the job done o.k. I have the remnants of what was a large and esoteric LP collection, and buying the unit is enabling me to digitize some stuff that is otherwise hard or impossible to find. It will be cost-effective for me, because I have enough stuff that I can't easily find on CD or on iTunes, so super duper fidelity is not as much an issue as just getting the tunes on a computer or CD.I'd buy it again.
NUMARK DIGITAL TURNTABLE
November 10, 2007
I am completely satisfied with the Numark digital turntable. Minor assembly was easy - just use care when assembling the tonearm and make sure you get all the small components out of the packaging before you toss anything away! It is compatable for 33&1/3rpms and 45rpms (not all units offer multiple speeds). The unit is light and has easy-to-use controls. The large Start/Stop control buttons are placed in two easy-to-reach positions on the hardware. The Audacity software is easy to install and use. Even better it has several features providing for noise control and sound manipulation that more advanced users will enjoy. With the correct input device you can even transfer audio tapes. Software allows full control over meta-data. Last but not least the sound quality is great! The great mixing levels you can only enjoy on vinyl are well-preserved!The glaring downside is that the unit does not come with a dust-cover. I use the wrapping plastic to the same effect but it lacks aesthetics. Anyway, for someone with a lot of vinyl that is unavailable on any other format, I'm a happy camper. Long live my punk rock LPs!

I could never get any quality sound from this. The customer service was good. They tried to fix the problem but not only was I never able to get the quality sound I had to turn it up very high to get any sound. I tried all the things that you were supposed to do. I read and read but to no avail. I do not recommend this at all. I gave it 2 stars because their customer service was good.
The ultimate in Chipmunk technology!
May 8, 2016
Ordered this TT as an "entry level" device; not expecting the greatest audio fidelity, just something to start with. The motor speed was faster than it should have been, causing all albums to sound pitch-shifted upward by nearly a whole note. Further research online revealed that this is common, and that the replacement motor is less than $6.00. I guess that explains a lot.
There are holes on the bottom of the TT for manually adjusting speed for 33 1/3 and 45, but not worth the trial and error.
I returned this TT, and plan to INVEST in something worthwhile soon... after a LOT more research.
seems like getting the rpm right is something they would do ...
March 2, 2016
I had to do about an hour of tuning just to get the speed setting right, seems like getting the rpm right is something they would do in QA but I guess its too cheap for that. If you are a hacker type and looking for something real cheap its probably okay. I was able to get it sounding alright by manually adjusting the potentiometer that controls the 33rpm motor speed. For anyone trying to do this there is a hole on the bottom which makes it really inconvenient to try and adjust because you can't do it while its spinning. You have to flip it on its side, make a tiny adjustment, flip it back down, put on your strobe disc (look it up if you need to figure out how to do this), then try it again to see if its right. Its not worth the hassle returning for me right now but I would tell my past self to get something a bit nicer next time.
If you're skeptical of all the good reviews, you should be.
February 12, 2016
I never write reviews on Amazon, and I mean never. I'm an amazon moocher, I read what other people say use it to make my decisions and am on my merry way. This time it's different. There are SO many good reviews for this product and I'm not sure why.

The idea of this turntable is great. Simple, easy to use, cheap. Unfortunately the latter is the thing that comes through the most. I set it up (sounded great by the way) and noticed that it was playing too fast. And no I was not using the 45 speed on a 33 LP. I had the 33LP speed selected, and it was making Bruce Springsteen sound like a thrash metal band.

No big deal I thought, surely there is a way to adjust the belt speed. Nope, none. So basically unless this comes to you PERFECTLY calibrated, which is a hard thing for any turntable to be nevertheless one for $100 you're at the mercy of your own luck of the draw.

After having this happen I saw it was a very common problem, just google AT-LP60 plays too fast, you'll be just as bummed as I was. Love the idea of this product, it just didn't work.
As tempting as it looks, don't do it.
November 18, 2014
Let me start by saying I'm not a person that writes Amazon reviews. But, in an effort to help folks avoid the same mistake I made, here we go:

I'm not an avid vinyl connoisseur, by any means. I'm a regular guy who likes $1 records I find in garage sales and I very occasionally pop for a new re-release of a favorite album here on Amazon. I really needed a new record player and I did a little research and bought this one. Let me cut to the chase and tell you this: Here I am less than 6 months layer and I just bought ANOTHER player because this one was so frustrating.

To keep things short, my major problem was the lack of 'tracking weight' adjustment (how hard the needle pushes down on your records when it plays). There's really no needle adjustment at all.

Before you think "so what", let me clarify: If you ONLY play brand new records, it's not a big deal. They'll play fine. But put on a less than perfect record (which I have plenty of) and it WILL skip. Not because there's a big scratch anywhere...but because older records that aren't mint condition will cause this player's needle to jump. Since the tracking weight isn't adjustable there's nothing you can do besides put a penny on the needle arm to increase the weight (which ruins your records even more).

The fact that the tracking weight is too light and not adjustable makes this player worthless if you play a wide condition of records. Don't do it, no matter how tempting it looks unless you play ONLY brand new records all the time.

After learning alot in those 6 months, I took the advice of going to a local record shop that sells old/vintage turntables that have been refurbished (so you know they're in good shape). I only spent $50 more than I spent on this player and the difference is night and day. The vintage player is FAR higher quality than this adn only cost me maybe $50 more. Do that instead, don't make the same mistake I made by buying this.

Hopefully this will send someone in the right direction and save them the money I wasted. Good luck!

Shipped with several parts missing. Many phone calls,e-mails and pictures later, I still haven~t been able to completely hook it up and begin my enormous task of converting 45`s and 33`s to CDs. I blame very poor quality control on shipping procedures. It will probably meet my expectations, but for now I don`t like it. NUMARK has shipped the missing parts, twice, but still some missing.

Quality control not the best
January 26, 2017
I had one of these for a couple years and it worked fine then the motor started running slow. Ordered one of these to replace and the belt squeaks (which plays through the speakers) and the motor is slow right out of the box. Amazon's customer service was excellent and they overnighted me a replacement, however the replacement is having the exact same issues out of the box. I've loved Audio Technica in the past and will still buy their products, but this will be the last turntable I ever buy from them.
Stopped spinning after one year.
December 22, 2016
Was a big fan of this product. Easy to use, sounded great, etc. One year later, it decided to stop spinning. Prior to this, I had to return a LP120 because it was not working. I have contacted Audio Technica so I will determine if this one star becomes five stars based on their support. We shall see.
Product has serious flaws, poor quality and assembly.
November 8, 2016
Wanted to really love this product due to the high ratings and low price. However, the actual experience feel way too short.

The rpm is higher than normal. All songs sound different due to the the higher pitch as a result of the rpm.

The platter was warped. Not sure how this has already damaged my brand new vinyls but it is clearly visible and I rechecked the placement of the platter.

If you are planning on using the built-in preamp, it has a lot of static and distorts the sound. I can tell that the quality of the preamp is poor. I did get a louder sound with the preamp but it also distorted the sound and added a lot of static noise.

The output cable is only 2 or 3 feet long. I was able to connect it as I brought this as close to the receiver as possible. However, this is something that could easily be prevented by providing 2 extra feet.

I have returned this back to Amazon exactly 1 day after I received it as these issues are not something that will be fixed with time. I would recommend spending a little more and investing in a higher quality player. I am still looking for one and will probably end up buying one here or a used one off Craigslist. They are both a better option over this.

Quality/Safety issue
January 20, 2015
the unit does not turn off and remains with a constant5 hum once the stylus has returned to the resting position. Contacted Audio-Technica for support about the hum. Whatever and all advice received did not resolve the issue which can only be stopped when the power lkine is disconnected from its power source. The persistence of the hum is a safety hazard. Hope the manufacturer/designer take this issue to heart. Most likely a manufacturer defect, whether in electronic components, manufacturing or design of the controlling electronic board start/Off. Would not recommend this unity to anyone.

Supposedly comes with software that integrates with iTunes and includes Gracenote Music ID so that you don't have to manually enter every single song name. The iTunes "import" is a simple dump into the library and Gracenote has been dropped without a single mention on the Numark or Ion website. This product is HORRIBLE
December 8, 2007
There were electrical feedback and static noted during recording despite making multiple corrections in the gain and other attempts at corrections. Will not even record 15 min. without static problems. At first I thought it might be my record. I cleaned and then spent 5 hours attempting to record one side. Tracks that didn't have problems at first had them when recording the second or third time. It seemed so simple at first. I wish I could give this one ZERO stars. I returned it and am now looking for something better.I can't believe that my experience was so bad and others can rave about this piece of poop! I really want to warn everyone about this product.
