Five Star Reviews: | 54% Makes Decorating More Fun June 16, 2016 This is a very nice little decorating set. It has 12 tips to choose from and can provide decorating fun for the whole family when making cupcakes. To prepare the bag just unscrew the tip of 1 of the couplings shove the wider back piece into the bag to the tip and screw the other coupling end back on then attach whatever tip you want to start with and fill with icing. They are pretty easy to clean (we hand wash ours). The cleaning brush makes cleaning the tips a breeze. This is our first decorating set and we all love it and find ourselves making more baked goods just to use it. Great beginner kit June 14, 2015 I'm a beginner when it comes to decorating cakes. I bought this set to decorate my first cake for my husband's birthday. The tips are sturdy and there is a good variety for writing and doing basic decorations. There are 2 bags which are easy to fill and handle. They're also easy to clean. It comes with a little brush so you can get into all of the crevices of the tips. The kit is small and fits easily into my kitchen drawer. The box is sturdy, so I know I won't have random tips in my drawer if it gets jostled around. But this bag + tips were perfect for me December 22, 2014 I am a total newbie - first time I've ever used a pastry bag - so maybe I have no business writing a review. But this bag + tips were perfect for me. I made and decorated large dog biscuits as Christmas gifts for friends. When I shopped for this it was hard to tell what to get without spending a bunch of time figuring out the conflicting info on the tip sizes and shapes. These worked out great. The bag is easy to clean. The tips are easy to change. Advice from a newbie: be careful about your frosting consistency. Directions in the package give some tips. It's worth getting it right. If you're making something more important than doggie treats, practice practice practice first with each tip you'll use. Great Value December 22, 2012 I bought this for my initial foray into decorating. It works great!I made one batch of royal icing (3 cups powdered sugar, 2 egg whites, 2 tsp lemon). I divided the batch in half. I added more sugar to one half so it was thicker for piping. I put that half into this bag. The entire half batch fit in this bag. I used the included #2 tip to outline 18 sugar cookies. There was no mess while piping; no leakage. When I was done I washed the bag and tip in warm soapy water and left it air dry. Then it was ready for the next time.I've uploaded some photos of my work (yellow stars and a gingerbread man). Please keep in mind I'm a complete newbie. This was the very first time I baked cookies and the first time I ever held a piping bag! I'm sure professionals would outgrow this bag asap. I actually bought a Wilton 16 Bag before seeing this Norpro. The Wilton is a much nicer bag; feels thicker and sturdier. But the Wilton is a bag only. I also had to buy couplers for it and an Ateco piping tip set. Total price was about $25. Oh and the piping set had two different size tips circumferences so the couplers only worked on half of them. I would have had to buy bigger couplers to use the other half of tips. Anyway, it was quickly becoming an expensive hobby lolSuffices to say I'm returning the Wilton gear. I can always repurchase if I get more into pastry decorating. However, for doing an occasional batch of sugar cookies this Norpro bag is perfect for my needs. For ~$7 this set is a great value. The included tips are:#2 Writing Tip#27 Star Tip#30 Large Start Tip#60 Petal Tip#67 Leaf Tip#98 Shell Tip(I've upload photos of the box front/back that illustrates the patterns these tips make.Hope that helps! Thanks :) Nice CHEAP set October 15, 2011 Read the instructions before you use/assemble this thing. If you don't put the pieces in properly or follow the directions about frosting types or how much to use -- of course you're going to either break it or end up with a giant mess. Seriously, it's not that complicated. For the price this thing is awesome and you can do some very basic decorating. You're probably not going to design anything that will get you on cupcake wars but you will make something that looks nice compared to just using a knife. Yes, the bag is small and the tips are extremely basic. If you want a pastry chefs set -- go to a foodie store and buy an expensive set. If you want an extremely basic set that will serve you well for the price -- this is a nice purchase. | 78% Disposable bags that are strong and work well September 6, 2017 When my old decorating bag finally split at the seam I was excited to try these disposable bags. It's great to be able to use and then throw away. No muss and no fussing with trying to clean greasy buttercream out of the bag and drying before storing. ... these to be flimsy hard to manage and break easy. Boy was I surprised August 1, 2017 I'm used to waxed canvas pouches and was expecting these to be flimsy hard to manage and break easy. Boy was I surprised! These really are great! I used it recently pretty often, it was very convenient March 11, 2017 I used it recently pretty often, it was very convenient. The only thing - I could not use the tips, maybe I was doing something wrong :-) Totally worth it if you need a lot of bags. March 1, 2017 For the price it's worth using these as opposed to the fabric ones. You can wash and reuse if you really want but my icing tends to leave a residue that's hard to get off. Was really nice when I needed 7+ different bags of icing. It would have been expensive to buy that many cloth ones. Good size, and durable. Fun to use too. May 20, 2016 Wonderful, durable decorating bag for frosting, but also for other soft sweets when decorating. My granddaughter loves this and used it right away. You can re-use this bag, and it's large enough to accommodate large amounts of treats. Why didn't I buy these years ago? March 18, 2016 My boyfriend encouraged me to buy these after he saw me struggling with a gallon size Ziploc bag. Why haven't I bought these before? With the right tip, these made decorating cupcakes so much easier. I will now always keep these on hand. | 81% Smooth sailing July 18, 2017 I finally treated myself to some "real" tools after being commissioned to make my mom's wedding cake. She despises fondant, and I cringed at the thought of making a buttercream cake because I was worried the icing would come out lumpy and gross. This tool worked great for me, and although it didn't come out perfectly lump-free like fondant would, it was pretty darn close. I will be keeping this tool for future cakes; my only wish is that I had bought one sooner so that I could lend a more professional feel to my cakes. More than I bargained for and happy for it :) July 18, 2016 For some reason I thought it would be smaller...then realized that 12" is one helluva a Icing Spatula. I'm not fond of sheet cakes; never seem like "real cakes" to me. But... LoL this is going to be a perfect moment in that direction and, I will start a new direction for getting creative. Easy to use May 30, 2016 i attempted to make my son a cake for his first birthday ... While I am not much of a baker, this icing spatula made decorating much easier! A Baker's Essential Tool April 20, 2016 This is probably one of the greatest purchases I have made in a while. I bake a lot and have so for about 12 years. I'm actually in the process of opening up my own bakery and I saw this and figured I would give it a shot since the price was right. Man, this spatula is versatile. I've used it for slicing cheesecakes, spooning items as well as icing my cheesecakes and it works flawlessly. When my bakery if fully up and running, I plan on ordering a few more to keep on hand. How did I ever live without an angled frosting spatula? May 28, 2015 Embarrassingly this was my first time using a dedicated cake spatula to frost my cakes. I poured through reviews and couldn't decide on the size to get. Some folks weren't happy with large spatulas while others had problems adapting to smaller spatulas. I purchased this particular spatula based on the reviews and was also under the assumption the metal spatula itself (excluding the handle) was 9" long. What I received was a spatula that is 9" in length *including* the handle. The metal spatula itself is only 3.75"- seems suited more for cupcakes and tiny rounds. That said, I put it t the test and I've successfully frosted several 9" round triple layer cakes in addition to cupcakes and mini cupcakes- it worked perfectly, and just as expected. I wound up having no issues with small size. The angled handle made frosting the cakes feel natural, as if I'd been using it for years, and in no way awkward. I was also able to use it successfully as a crumb layer-scraper. A crumb layer scraper would have been ideal for my high layered cakes as it would have required minimal effort, but this spatula outperformed any substitute device I'd previously used, and in the end, my crumb layer was perfect. I can see a bigger size spatula being more helpful for 9"+ layer cakes, as it would be faster and perhaps a tad easier, but I wasn't racing against a clock and my cakes turned out beautiful. | 34% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 20% Good starter kit. March 7, 2017 Nice beginner set. I would recommend clear disposable piping bags as it's nice to see the contents as you pipe down. This bag is a nice heavy vinyl, the coupling collar and cuff fit snug and are easy to connect. The piping tips are well made. These tips are not for fine line work as they pipe out a generous amount of icing or batter, about the size of your little finger. It makes nice stars and flowers. Decent, but not the best November 23, 2015 I struggled between 3 or 4 stars... and decided upon a 4, because my issues may just because I'm a complete novice and not due to the product itself. This is a good beginner's set. I'm not a big frosting type of person so I didn't want to invest in anything great or fancy, so I decided to get this. I'm still learning on proper piping techniques and still have a long way to go; this was my first decorating set and my first time using a piping bag and tips. It does have a good variety of metal tips, but I find that it also doesn't have everything, so some of the recipes I need this for, I would need to purchase additional tips (would it still work with the same set??) because they were smaller than what was needed (e.g. eclairs). It has instructions on how to put it together but not the most detailed, so I had fun attempting to put it together, then have some of the filling squeeze out from around the tip/couplings the first couple of times because I guess I didn't assemble them properly/tightly (I don't use it often enough to have consistent practice). I can say that I'm okay with it now after several uses (and one or two YouTube video tutorial sessions). The bag is fairly easy to clean; I don't use the cleaning brush since I try to clean the bag almost immediately after using so nothing can get a chance to dry, but there is a plastic inner lining that helps, which I like. The reusable aspect of this is a great plus! I just wish there were a larger variety of sizes to the tips. Perhaps an actual piping teacher would be helpful as well. ;) Quality is good but beware of the small tips April 19, 2015 Let me start by saying that the quality of the product seems pretty good so I don't want to rate it to bad. But overall almost everything is too small. The bag is smaller than I expected. All the tips are relatively small so it's hard to decorate a cupcakes let alone an entire cake. I would recommend buying disposable bags and then a small set of tips with multiple sizes. With that being said we still had a lot of fun and its a fun kit to get your feet wet. I'm going to attach a few pictures of the things we made on our very first try. Perfect as your first decorating set! October 28, 2014 I have been using the product for around three months now, predominantly to make macarons and use as an icing tool. For icing—as its intended purpose—it works well. However for pipetting out macaroons, I wished there was a thicker tip. I manually forced the largest tip into a larger round shaped which worked for my purposes. One disadvantage is that since this is designed to be reusable and the bag can't be replaced, you have to take care to wash out the bag very carefully. Mine has changed into a slight off brown color, invariably from the food colorings that I have used. Nevertheless, I feel that this product deserves four stars as it is very affordable and serves its intended purpose well. If you're just getting into pipetting for cakes and desserts, this is a perfect product to start with! Just what you need to jump right in December 12, 2010 One reviewer commented that the bag included in this set is ridiculously small; so it is, but that's easily solved. Peel it off the coupling, throw it away, and use a gallon ziploc with the corner cut off instead. Save yourself the trouble of cleaning it, too. The tips are easy to use, and there's a nice variety for getting started with decorating - NB, though, something I didn't realize (as a novice myself): decorating tips come in two sizes, and these are the smaller size, so you won't get large swirls/flourishes out of them, and don't plan to cover a whole cake this way. I found decorator tips and couplings in both sizes and all shapes available singly at my local cooking store, and they're cheap. You might want to check out that option if you have it in your town. Grandma's little helper June 13, 2010 Good product. As Grandma, I was enlisted to make a Winnie the Pooh cake just a week before my little granddaughter's second birthday party. Having always done designs free-hand and with a little help from the old icing tubes bought in the stores, I decided it was time to get something real quick and a whole lot better for future years of birthday cakes! The price was perfect and the product arrived quickly. I found it to be very easy to use. Some people found it hard to clean, but if you use hot water right away it cleans up darn good. I also had some black icing, but was still able to get it clean without any trouble. I love the tips and had a ball using this decorating set. It also made things go quicker so I could get off my feet sooner and enjoy the compliments later!! | 14% Perfect For Filling Cannolis August 28, 2017 Works great for filling Cannoli Shells. but doesn't include any decorating tips. Sturdy and like that there is no clean up April 16, 2017 Disposable bags. Sturdy and like that there is no clean up. The bag is great - nice quality May 10, 2015 The bag is great - nice quality . I thought it came with the tips so a heads up that it is only the bags - no tips included. They have a nice large capacity and work for think or thicker consistencies. You just need to have the tips for use which are sold separately. Great disposable bags make clean up a breeze. November 14, 2013 These bags have saved me a lot of clean up time. They are super easy to use and work with standard decorating tips. My only complaint is the packaging. They are folded up in a box, but attached at the top as if to dispense. So if you want to keep them in the box, you have to take out all of them every time you want to use one. | 12% I can't say "I love it, " simply because I am not that ... January 3, 2017 I can't say "I love it," simply because I am not that committed to an icing spatula. I will say that it has served its purpose nicely, and is not showing any signs of decay. It is a nice simple icing spatula. It is decorative kitchen utensil, but a practical durable one. So if you are looking for something cute to go with your multicolored knives set, brightly colored Dutch Oven, etc. then this isn't that. Works June 10, 2016 Works well so far. Seems pretty sturdy and well made. I puchased to make homemade fruit roll ups and i needed something to help smooth it out in the pan. So far no issues Angle Icing Spatula, was surprise how big it was ... January 21, 2016 Angle Icing Spatula, was surprise how big it was. A little difficult to use at first. but it's okay. Wish they made one a little smaller. Well built and sturdy. I have various spatulas from stainless steel to ... March 28, 2015 Well built and sturdy. I have various spatulas from stainless steel to silicon and simple plastic. The silicon and plastic don't offer an offset blade. I own a large angled spatula for cake icing/decoration and wouldn't be without one. This small version with this same deviation to a blade alignment really helps to make covering a cupcake with icing to simple application of mustard on a ham and cheese. The smaller spatula is easy to clean and appears to be sturdy. Time will tell | 15% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 14% one stitched and one un-stitched ... March 22, 2016 It is ok ... Just one issue for me ... Of the two bags, one has a stitched top and the other one does not. Thought the one I received is like that and asked for a replacement ... Unfortunately, replacement is also the same. For some reasons, they seems to not stitch the second one which I could not think of why. Problem is, threads have started coming off loose in the un-stitched one ... Just after one decoration ... Might not survive a few more ... Works ok, but not great. February 5, 2016 The set works reasonably well but the piping cloth stains easily and the stains won't come out. Also, the plastic ring that holds the tip on is very cheaply made plastic. Luckily you can buy a replacement but you shouldn't have too. If you need to use it more than a couple of times buy s better set. Frosting fun. January 29, 2015 I had a hard time getting the tips to stay in place. Maybe it's just me but I had a rough time. That being sad, this kit comes with a lot of nice stuff for a great deal. The assortment of it all was great and I love the reusable pastry bags. I think once I get the hang of it, it'll all be good. Not the easiest to work with February 21, 2014 This set provides basic decorating tips, ok to get started and do some very basic designs. The bag seems to be of ok quality, vinyl inside and cloth outside, so it is not as easy to clean and dry as I would like. The problem with it, though, is that the opening is so small it is hard to get the frosting/filling into the bag. I prefer bags that are a bit wider at the top making it easier to fill and clean. I have a much larger set of decorating items in storage, so I didn't want to purchase another large set, just something to get by. This set does provide for that, just the basics, and works well. I just need to maybe find some bags that I can purchase separately. very good for beginner April 14, 2013 This is a good beginner starting set but it's not the best for frosting cupcakes. Like other reviewer said, it's more for smaller details and frosting cookies. The glue that is used to hold these tips in place to the packaging is very difficult to wash off without a good scrubbing. The bag is some kind of fabric material with coated polymer on the inside so it's fairly easy to clean, but still a pain. I think I'll stick with disposable bags from now on. | 5% It's a good product. January 13, 2017 I rather use the 12 inch bags they work easier for me, I do have small hands. It's a good product. These bags popped holes easily, even with gentle pressure August 26, 2016 These bags popped holes easily, even with gentle pressure. The company needs to re-evaluate the quality of plastic they're using. 12 INCH BAGS a better match if ICING CUPCAKES August 1, 2016 The box in which the bags were packed was damaged (crushed) and looked like it'd been opened already. Also, I hadn't realized there was a 12-INCH disposable bag option which would have been perfect for icing the cupcakes I wanted to make. These bags are a little too big for my liking but I'll keep them because the cost of return shipping on its own looks like it'll be even more than the price I originally paid for these. but over all it was great December 14, 2014 the bags are hard in texture so it is little hard to put icing in it, but over all it was great | 4% but I was disappointed. November 7, 2017 The material that this was made out of was something I wasn't prepared for, but i throw it in the washing machine and it works out ok. October 1, 2016 The bag is so small I'm going to have to fill it twice just to do 12 cupcakes and of all the attachments the one I need wasn't included. Do the tips fall off for anyone else? Multiple ... March 25, 2016 Do the tips fall off for anyone else? Multiple times I've tried to use this and the tip will fly right off. When I place the tip on it seems very loose... Not sure why it was designed so loose. Not worth the price. December 13, 2015 The bag is really only good for one use, it completely fell apart after I washed it. Saw nearly the same exact set at the dollar tree, wouldn't buy again. Impossible to Clean November 5, 2014 It is impossible to clean the bag out properly. I have tried everything, but even if I manage to clean all the frosting out, whatever color was in the frosting dyes the bag, meaning the next batch of frosting (if it's a lighter color) takes on the hue of a previous cake.I don't have a dishwasher, though, so perhaps if you put this in a dishwasher it would come out cleaner. | 1% beware it doesn't come with tips November 18, 2015 probably says that in the description but the photo shows it with a tip. these are just the bags. lame. Giant Logo Spoils the Look August 5, 2015 These bags are perfectly functional for using in your own kitchen, but the photo does *not* show that there is a giant "WILTON" logo on the bag. I was looking for a plain piping bag to use at a party and the giant logo looks completely tacky. | 1% Small January 18, 2017 Cheap and smaller than it seems and than it describes. 9 inches is not the blade size. Just not good to me September 28, 2016 Just not good to me .Mainly because of the way it fits in my head . Too hard to work with. Wrong description for 9" spatula June 9, 2016 The 9" spatula description clearly states that the blade is 1.5" wide. The one I received is barely .75" (3/4"). Not what I wanted. Would probably cost more to send it back than it's worth. I did give 2 stars because it's well made but for me it's just another addition to my junk drawer. Title is deceptive, but it still worked out. April 7, 2016 The title is misleading; it's 9 inches from handle to end of the angled spatula. The only other offset spatulas I'd seen showed the blade length (which is actually about 4.5" of functional surface area). I already had a 4.5" offset spatula, so upon receipt of this one I was pretty disappointed because I was hoping for a large one for big surfaces. Turns out that having two 4.5" offset spatulas is a pretty nice luxury, though. 2/5 stars because I literally didn't need it and was expecting it to be a 9" spatula blade, but I'll still use it anyway. | 14% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 6% Total scam do not buy December 3, 2016 I cant give zero stars. Not the product pictured. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM. TOTAL SCAM disappointed July 11, 2015 This product felt like it was made really well but when push came to shove it fell through. After one use the bag and tips were separating, the tips kept getting clogged and there was frosting everywhere. Not an easy product to use not worth it February 28, 2014 this product was not worth the money. I had to throw it all away after the first use. the majority of it broke in the middle of use. it was just sad and not worth a dime Within the first minute of use, the bag split January 4, 2014 I understand this is inexpensive, but it isn't even work what little I paid. The bag split almost the first second I went to use it. I then put the tips at the end of a plastic bag and used that. So if you do buy it, have some zip locks handy. Not so great, wouldn't recommend January 5, 2013 I didn't like this product. The icing bag is too small and it's hard to clean. The only good thing about this purchase was the decorating tips, which I still use, but with the plastic icing bags that you throw away. If you want to be more eco-friendly and purchase a re-usable icing bag this might be better for you, but I did not like it. | 2% Weak Seams December 30, 2016 I opened this new set of bags, and ended up using 6 when 2 normally would have worked. Four of the bags ruptured along the seam while piping. I was only trying to decorate two dozen mini cupcakes, and have never had bags fail like this before, even when decorating much greater quantities. I have only used Wilton decorating bags, so I'm not sure why I'm having issues with these. Not impressed March 26, 2016 Waste of money. Had to throw it away after the first try. The tips would not go on correctly. I was going to use them for some Easter crafts but they were useless. Not sure what I'm going to do with ... April 23, 2015 The bags were not what I expected. They were clear but had the Logo written on them. I was going to use them for some Easter crafts but they were useless. Not sure what I'm going to do with them now. | 2% Rusted when not washed right away. August 3, 2017 The last time I used it I did not clean it right away. It was in an empty sink overnight. When I picked it up to wash it, the bottom side was covered with rust spots. Now there are permanent marks on it. That was probably my fault, but nothing else of mine has ever rusted. I will look for another product. 9" and 13" are over all length not blade length. August 20, 2016 Please note: 9" and 13" are for over all length and not blade length. Kind of disheartening to realize this in hand and not seeing this in online discription. Description didn't say on 13" size the blade length and I was thinking a 9" was needed and didn't notice in discription. This is not the 12" spatula you are looking for December 29, 2015 It is small. The 12" length in the description is the overall length with handle and the metal part. Do not buy if you are looking for a longer spatula bending it back leads to an even weaker more useless spatula. February 18, 2015 Unfortunately, this spatula is not constructed with the same thicker steel as the old models were. The thin steel flexes and bends making this spatula ineffective at spreading all but the thinnest of icings/frostings. Once the spatula is bent, bending it back leads to an even weaker more useless spatula. I was grossly disappointed when i received this item February 10, 2015 I was grossly disappointed when i received this item. This spatula is very small and flimsy...worst Wilton product I've purchased!! | 23% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
