Fantastic so far
July 3, 2015
So far so good! I got this entire kit for $219 on Amazon with $15 for shipping! The motor is strong thus far and was a cinch to wire to the controller and battery. The instructions, although filled with grammatical errors, were detailed and of a high quality. The rack is actually pretty hardy, all be it a bit heavy and the bag is decent but definitely not for the long term. The controller has been able to handle peak voltage of 50v with at least a 21 amp draw and the motor hardly heats up. I am currently running a 13s LifePo battery built from used hybrid car battery cells. I ended up cutting the end off of the charger (it had a computer cord) and put some temporary bullet connectors on there to hook up to the battery. The charger will charge up to 55.2v at 4.5 amps, but I still monitor it to make sure it won't destroy the battery and set it on fire. The rim, tire, and tube are all of a decent quality and the spoke gauge is something like a moped would have. So far I am very happy with this purchase.
Great product!!!!

Buy without any hesitation - Aosom people are the best in customer service I have experienced on Amazon.I had a couple of problems with the kit long after I bought it but they send me new parts free of charge. I received it in 5 days after contacting them.Easy, fast, and very friendly customer service! They will fix any problem you have with the kit.The kit itself is a great - buy a 20AH Lifepo4 battery and you have a motorcycle!
25 MPH No Pedaling
February 25, 2015
I got a Wal Mart bike to do my conversion. I wired 4 12 volt 10 amp hour SLA batteries in series using 12 gauge wire. I put in a 30 amp blade type fuse. I had to carefully file the rear drop outs from 10 mm for the axle to fit. I then installed a Grinn torque arm for extra sturdiness to keep the torque from spinning the axle out. I weigh 250 pounds with 25 pounds of SLA batteries. With no pedaling on flat road I got 25 mph with this kit. Have not tried range yet but will be doing that next. I got the SLA batteries for the cost just to make sure this would work and it seems to be working fine. I plan on getting a Lithium battery pack next. I worked a little each day on this over about a 2 week period to make sure I did it right the first time. For the first run of this everything is working as it should. This bike has V brakes and while it will stop you at 25 mph, you need to give yourself at least twice the stopping distance as opposed to having a bike with disc brakes.UPDATE:I had a wheel bearing go bad in the hub after I had it for 6 weeks on the bike. I emailed Aosom and they sent out a new hub motor/wheel and I had it in 2 days. They did not ask for the old one back either. This company has the best customer service I have ever seen. So, if you are having doubts, go ahead and get this kit and if you have any problems, Aosom takes care of it fast. FIVE STARS!!!
More than what I expected.

This is my first kit for an electric bike, and the kit exceeded all my expectations. I did not intend to get this kit to replace pedaling on my bike, but rather as an electric assist. I take my kids on a burley, and this make that a breeze. This can even take me and my 1 year old and 4 year old up the hill.I would say that slightly pedaling and using the motor, it will take me a little above 20 miles in one charge, and when I say slightly pedaling, I mean I won't even break a sweat. I estimate I would probably get about 14 miles with no pedaling. There are no significant hills where I live. I use 4 12ah 12v batteries in series to make a 48v 12ah battery. I can only imagine what a 48v 20ah battery would be like!I have no way to measure how fast I am going, but when I ride next to a road that has 40 mph speed limit, it seems the cars a going slightly faster than I am (When I'm riding by myself at full throttle), so I'm going to guess that I'm going around 30 mph. Again, I don't have a way to verify this, but it goes plenty fast.Overall, I love this motor and I would recommend it.

April 13, 2017
ive bought these battery's for my electric tricycle i made with a E-kit. i run 4 in series(48v) x2 parallel (24ah) they lasted for 2 years before they were toast. i road at least 4 times a week sometimes over 8 miles. i just got my second set of 8 and installed them about 2 months ago and there doing fine. i do recommend.the only thing i dont like is both times i had them shipped the contacts covers fell off and some were crushed, i had to bend them back into place
So far so good.

I just installed these batteries in an electric Shoprider chair that my son uses. So far so good.
Replaced my cordless lawnmower batteries with these
December 6, 2014
Bought these after opening up my battery box in my cordless mower that went dead. The manufacturer WORX of this mower not only discontinued selling the battery but when I did find it was triple the original price. I took apart the battery box and found two scooter batteries wired together. I found the info stamped on the batteries and ordered these to replace them with. At first I had a hard time soldering them together but it was all worth it because the mower works better now than new! I'll order replacements again, no problems.
order same set of batteries 2 times- both came fast and correct- excellent batteries
June 8, 2014
Ordered the 1st set a few weeks before for the kids electric cars. These replace the prego electric car batteries just had to remove the blue covering which was easy. found a great you tube video on how to do it as well as how to modify to use in the power wheels electric chevy and the other cars kids have. better than paying $90 for 1 at toys r us. These and the prior set I bought came very fast and in great shape. would order more from this seller if needed. Now I have 2 batteries for each of the 2 types of cars the kids play with. For the power wheels had to pop open battery to remove the hook up and buy a 30 amp fuse and fuse holder and connect with the yellow F connectors and the in line connector, Good luck guys. can contact me if need to know how to do mowerba@yahoo.com
Barbie Power Wheels Jeep Conversion
July 2, 2013
I picked these up to replace the original PW battery in my daughter's Barbie Jeep. They work great and last longer than the original ever did. Look up the conversion on YouTube, it took less than 5 minutes and only a couple bucks in connectors. Great savings over buying the overpriced PowerWheels branded batteries.

Works great once you get it done, but that isn't easy
December 21, 2016
Only giving it four stars because in the end it really works great, but I only got it to work because I am and engineer, had perseverance and the ability to kind of figured it out as I went. You are literally better off, NOT following the instructions included, they are that bad. It's a shame because the actual product is really good.Kit comes with EVERYTHING you need including the charger.

March 27, 2016
I'm very impressed with this kit. From what I can tell its very solid, well put together, and even looks pretty good on the bike. It was also very easy to assemble. Everything is color coded and the different plugs designed specifically to fit into eachother so you don't mistakenly plug the wrong ones into one another. In fact for someone as mechanically inept as me I'm surprised it was so easy. The amount of power this thing has is impressive. Had no problem going up and down the hills in my area, which was a worry when I bought it. Also holds a charge pretty long. Honestly its sold with an assist option, but I never installed it. The kit and batteries add a lot of weight to the bike, and its a bit impractical to peddle it except if you're faced with a steep hill and don't want to burn out the engine.Just a warning though, this kit and the batteries needed for it add a LOT of weight to the bike. If fact I felt unsafe riding it with everything mounted on the rear rack, so I jerry rigged it a bit and mounted the batteries in the center of the frame on a plate meant for a gas engine. And that felt a lot more solid and balanced. That being said, the rear rack and bag included are both very solid and well made, and I understand its easier for most bicycle owners to mount the parts on a rack rather than do what I did and desperately look for an engine plate. So its nice the company included them. Also, you'll want to invest in a better stand for your bike because I guarantee the one it came with will not hold it up. I've just been leaning mine up against things, but I'll be buying a two legged stand soon.My biggest complaint is that this company doesn't also sell the batteries or link you to a compatible set. In fact that turned out to be the biggest challenge in putting this bike together, because I had no idea how to wire up batteries. I did get lucky and found a set with the right voltage that somebody had already wired up, but I still had to install the plugs connecting the batteries to the engine myself. The task itself wasn't hard, but finding the right plugs was a pain. That's the only reason I bumped the rating to four stars.

The kit is awesome! I weigh 160 and with 4 SLA batteries I get 35 on the flats no problem at all!!!! The only con is awkwardness at slow speed due to my batteries on the back rack and the spokes come loose so make sure you tighten those up before putting onto your bike. Had it for 2 months now and is holding up so far. Using mighty max 12v sla in series and they are holding up too! Conclusion: A TON of power for your $$$$!!!!!
Powerful bicycle motor
June 17, 2015
Everything arrived within a week of ordering . A very powerful package for your bicycle at a good price . The instructions need better English but can be figured out .
Good basic product, Bad instructions.
March 19, 2015
The instructions are pathetic and the charger connector is strange. I cut off this connector and replaced with crimped/soldered high amp polarized automotive connectors so that the battery pack can connect to both the charger and controller. The blue wire on the charger is positive. I mounted 4 SLA 12AH batteries in the middle of the bike frame for both stability and better weight balance. The batteries are wired in series with 10G wire with spade connectors that are both crimped and soldered. The rack fit on my older Trek mountain bike ok and supports saddle bags and rear tail light. The controller is rubber foam shock mounted under the seat in front of the rack. Once installed, this thing really works good. I'm giving it 4 stars because the seller refused to honor a 30 day price guarantee that is common on Amazon. They lowered the price by $40 within 30 days of my purchase, claiming that they only have a 7 day guarantee. Also the bad instructions and connector issues. Why can't some basic coherent instructions be provided by someone whose first language is English?

October 7, 2015
Works great in our Go Chair by Pride Mobility. Came fast, and not too hard to swap out. Charge does not hold quite as long as I would like, or I would give it 5 stars. My son uses it for only a few hours twice a week, and I am disappointed that the greens disappeared after only three days. I was hoping for a little longer, but still a great deal for a great battery. The only reason it is 4 instead of 5. I would definitely buy again.

YES! Brings my electric scooter back to life!
September 28, 2012
Thanks! Arrived on time and works great for what I needed it for. I really don't know what else to say. I had to do a little work soddering and rewiring my scooter to replace the original batteries, but these are great! They seem to last longer, but that could be me. They don't seem as strong as the original batteries, but this could be because of the size of the terminals. Maybe it's the amp-hour rating. Either way, they work, and that's all I need!

I received this comprehensive conversion package. Good power 1000W and looked sturdy. Unfortunately, the assembly instructions were too basic and the battery and charger that was recommended were not compatible. Way over my head to make it work with what was recommended. I had to return the entire package because the correct battery plus the conversion kit were more expensive than my budget. Please do not assume that the recommended items are accurate. In this case, they were way off. Good luck. I am now planning on purchasing a fully assembled ebike once my budget is inline with that.
Do it yourself e-bike? Also, "figure it out yourself"!
June 25, 2016
Had to change my review from 4 stars to 3. Here's why:1: instructions show installation of disc brake. This does NOT come with a disc brake. Had to do some major adjustments of my caliper brakes for now, but trust me when I say that it NEEDS a disc, if for nothing more than the weight.2. The bag for the controller is a nice bag, but not a lot of thought went into it. It doesn't hold its shape, so if winds up sagging to one side or another, and the less said about how it's supposed to attach to the rear rack, the better. I'm having to reinforce it with two lengths of 2x3 and bolt it down onto the rack with some through-drilled 1/4" x 2" stainless bolts so that it stays put and stays in form.3. No mounting hardware or instructions included for the rack, which is a shame because it appears to be a good-quality, heavy-duty rack. Fortunately, I already have a rack installed, but am keeping this one for a backup, just in case.4. The instructions are a complete joke. Good luck deciphering them if you're not someone who's both mechanically-inclined and know your way around electrical wiring. There was absolutely NO mention of the terminal block assembly, for example - I had to figure this one out on my own by looking at the wires from the motor and then realizing that there were matching wires on the control unit.5. My batteries weren't adequate at first, so I've been pedaling it for now. The sprocket/gearing cassette makes an occasional "bumping" noise, but no loss in pedaling ability, and truth be known, it rolls better than the wheel and cassette that came with the bike! But what concerns me is this drag/scratch sound that occurs while I'm rolling. Oddly, it only happens when I'm on the bike, adding my weight to it, and not while I'm just walking it.6. The grips that are included are flimsy and appear only to be provided because they're embossed with the company logo. I'm going to replace them with some better grips that actually give me a good purchase on the bars.Now...the good...After staring at it for awhile, I was able to install everything in under 2 hours. Then again, I've been working with wiring and mechanical parts for the better part of my life.It rolls freely once properly aligned, and exceeded my expectations in normal pedaling. We'll see how things go once I get the proper batteries hooked up...which, with luck, will be later today. I'll edit as needed.

takes a lot of trial/error
January 31, 2017
I put this on a mountain bike. I used the rack for a while, but it's not worth the hassle. It only took a couple of rainy trips for it to rust and not much longer for it to snap. Buy a heavy duty rack with this. Really basic instructions. After a month I had an issue with wires starting to come loose from the plastic and I have to fix them every once and awhile. I also found that the sla batteries weren't adequate and had to replace them (I didn't put much thought into it and bought from the "frequently bought with" section). If you get sla batteries you MUST make sure that they are for cyclical applications. It can be hard to avoid total discharge, so get batteries that can deal with that. Avoid big bumps because I had the spokes come loose pretty bad and had to have a shop fix them and the tube they popped. Pad brakes don't seem to get a good grip on the sides of the wheel.Because I had a hard time with this I ended up spending as much as it would have cost to buy a low end premade ebike, which I wish I would have done. I don't think I would have had near as many problems with a premade.
Kit is great. Goes fast
September 19, 2016
Kit is great. Goes fast. Easy to install. But, the wheel ran backwards. I'm sure there some sort of wiring issue I couldn't figure out and probably a was to resolve easily. But I couldn't figure it out. I ended up taking off the gears, flipping wheel around, and losing my pedal chain, which was ok because I didn't want to pedal anyway. It's a cool electric ebike but it's tricky if you don't know a lot about electronics.

I have purchased these before and these were replacing the old set that was a little over a year old? I had 40 minute runtime on the same load previously. With these they report 10-15 minutes runtime. I have not had to use them yet, but I'm afraid they will not last that long. The old set was fine as far as I knew, but I needed them for a few days to use in my car. They did not like that cycling or the charge voltage... One of them got pretty messed up, but I was being stupid. But I will buy again at this price.

Terrible
Freehub Failed: Free-Spinning Disappointment
June 9, 2015
First off, the electrical harness included in this kit is somewhat incomplete and I would not recommend this to a beginner. I have, however, experience in putting together electric bikes and could complete the wiring with parts I had in the shop. What is disappointing is that after a few months of use, the freehub broke. This means that the chain can move the cassette (rear sprocket) freely, in both directions, without engaging any drive in the wheel. So what I have is a motorized scooter with the added aesthetics of a chain and pedals. I cannot recommend this motor. I would go with the http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/8805001546?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage motor instead. The wiring harness is complete, and there are fewer parts to fail.
Avoid aosom like you should avoid the clap
April 18, 2015
I ordered this item in August and It took several weeks to receive my item. Once it finally I arrived I inspected it to find that not all the parts indicated on the description/manual were included. I spent several weeks trying to get the issue resolved through aosom. They gave me the run around for 2 weeks before telling me that the manual/description was misworded and I was SOL. I took it to my local bike shop who is licensed for ebikesBro have it installed. So I finally got it up and running the day before Halloween. I really enjoyed it for about 3 months. I use it to commute to work(2.5mi) so i can keep my black truck out of the Florida sun. On my way back to the office during lunch the motor stops working. I took it to the bike shop(after lance Armstronging it back home). The owner and I start investigating and find that the controller( which was a pain in the but from the beginning). He stated that it was pretty apparent to him that the controller was faulty and defective. Moreover, I could have been seriously hurt via electricity or fire if I hadn't brought it in immediately. I contacted aosom and requested a replacement. They said I was SOL since I was passed 90days from purchase, but they would be more than happy to sell me another defective controller. Aosom excels at Customer disservice. Don't buy any of their crappy products unless your buying a gift for someone that you wish personal harm upon.

Must have experience with batteries and electronics because manual is of no help
March 8, 2015
I purchased this as part of a "Items commonly purchased together" lot on Amazon. So, the batteries and a charger came separate.Full Disclosure: I have practically no electrical experience. I thought this would be as simple as strapping on the rear wheel, connecting some cables, and off I go but that was far from the case. I don't like posting negative reviews but the manual is a joke and has no description nor pictures of how to connect the batteries. The connectors that come from the control unit don't match what was on the batteries, nor did they come with any adapters. The rear rack that comes with the unit was missing a small but integral part which connects the rear rack to the seat post. Otherwise, the rear rack doesn't stay upright. Also, NO descriptions nor pictures showing maybe an alternate way of hooking up the rear rack.I was never able to even get the item working. The only positive spin I can put on this is that the customer service person was polite and prompt in answering my initial grievance, it still doesn't change the fact that they really, REALLY did not want me to return the item. They provided me with a refund just so I would keep the item. So, if you know your way around electrical components and feel confident you can get this working without a manual you really cannot beat the price. Otherwise, I'd recommend steering clear of this.

Old Geezers been screwed AGAIN.
October 9, 2017
It's obvious, where these batteries are concerned, that NOT using these batteries is BAD for these batteries, for the batteries that came with my scooter are, just recently, not lasting as long between charges as when new but the batteries I bought as backups for the fine batteries that came with the cart, ARE DEAD AS THE PROVERBIAL EFING DOOR KNOB, so dead in fact that they no longer accept a charge at all.Now don't think Mr. Metal Head (Me) a "whining spoiled brat" because if my complaint had to do with my child's "Barbie Doll toy car" it might indeed seem churlish (But then again, no one like to be screwed out of their OWN money, even when you have plenty of it) But when you understand "These batteries were meant for a newly handicapped man in caring for his newly, severely crippled and cancer ridden wife, the churlish nature of my complaint can be, if not forgiven, then at least understood.BTW, Living on "SSI ONLY" WAS/IS AN 80% REDUCTION IN "The Old Geezer Metal Head's" household yearly INCOME". I'd say "TRY IT SOMETIME" but I don't know any of you well enough to be that cruel to any of you. What all this means is just this "the money I've lost buying these batteries is lost for good" Because I don't have TODAY, and wont have TOMORROW, any SPARE money to replace these "Replacement batteries" when they, the ORIGINAL batteries, refuse to take a charge at all, then, I suppose, "I" can learn to "crawl about again but then, as far as my wife's concerned, I suppose she's just screwed"???
Warning - This is NOT a non-spillable battery !
September 24, 2017
I bought two of these batteries over four years ago for use in a small cordless electric lawn mower, and when one the batteries no longer seemed to take a charge I removed it and connected it directly to a 12 volt smart charger that shuts down when the battery is fully charged. After a few hours I returned to find it soaked in battery acid that had leaked from the case. So, this battery has liquid acid inside and is spillproof only as long as the case does not develop a leak, which in my case it did leading to a very bad safety situation. After reading the fine print I realized that this is NOT an AGM (absorbent glass mat) battery as are other brands that I have purchased and which have never leaked acid. Live and learn I guess.

Awful, one didn't work when received, and you must pay a $50 shipping fee and $25 restocking fee to return it, I strongly suggest you don't get this product.

One of the batteries ended up leaking 6 months later. The picuture shows a UB12120 but you get a knock off toyo-usp the standby is 13.5 instead of the 13.6 standby use and the cycle use is 14.4 instead of 14.5 that you think you are buying from the picture. It is almost the same but is not. Mine didnt last a year without leaking also.
