【Most Balanced Dash Camera around $100 I've ever used】
July 1, 2017
【Well Packaged】The box included the Rexing dash camera, 3M adhesive strip, owner's manual, and USB adapter, socket plug charging cable, etc. Surprisingly, the instruction manual is very clear and very understandable and has so many details about the product specifications. The build quality is great and it is nice and sturdy and yet light since certain kind of materials is used in the body.【Easy to use design】Simple and easy to set up, just insert the micro SD card, stick this wedge shape camera on the right locations on the windshield with the adhesive strip, and plug to the power supply, and it's ready to use. The menu is intuitive and I was able to set it up without a manual in around 5 minutes by going through all menu options. (FYI, the LAW in California requires any dash camera should be installed at three certain areas on the windshield. More restriction details apply.) Software for viewing recorded data is very informative and also with many features included. The holder itself has to be self-adhesive strip to the window. Although I can't move it afterward, the benefits are bigger: with such a strip, it holds really well long term and also takes less space than the suction holders. This kind of connection also prevents the camera from shaking too much on the road. Based on my test, this camera delivers me more stable pictures. The typical mount holders lacking enough stiffness in each direction usually have stability issues and the only way to solve is to increase the weight of the camera body using heavy metal to avoid the frequency of the vehicle engines. Most important thing is that it turns on and starts recording immediately and fast when I jump in my car and start the ignition and it closes itself automatically about 10 seconds after the engine is off or unplug the USB cord from the adapter. So actually I don't have to do any operation on the camera so it's designed to be installed and sort of forgotten about. Everything is automatically taken care of.The MICROPHONE MUTE BUTTON is a big plus for the every driver in California because you should be aware that the federal and state wiretapping laws may expose you to the risk of criminal prosecution for recording context without getting consent from surrounding people before recording it with dash cameras. However, for the most cased, we just won't consider sticking a note on the car saying one recorder is working. So just press the mic-mute button is a quick way to turn it off and avoid this kind the issue, while for the other dash cams hide the mic-mute function deep in the system settings. It's AMAZING that this little device supports 128GB Memory Card. With its loop recording enabled, users like me can have the option to record videos in loops of 3, 5, or 10minute video files and don't have to backup videos from time to time. Life becomes easier. The camera comes also with a tool that is helpful to push the long cable behind the siding of the car so the cable can be totally hidden into the ceiling. The tool was so great that I believe that should the best solution to hide the cable and make the car space neater. The Rexing engineers really thought a lot to improve the product. I'm also glad to find that the nice socket charger comes with an integrated USB port.【Video Quality】This camera is a 170-degree wide angle and can record 1080P videos 30p in very decent picture quality because one camera-level Sony Exmor CMOS is used inside. If you play the videos on the computer, even the blind people can tell the huge difference. I can see clearly the traffic signal even in direct sunlight as I'm entering the intersection and I can see the plate number in front which means the camera lens performs great in all high light conditions (Please see the uploaded video of my drive in the City of Irvine, CA.). I am really satisfied with the lens performance and the manual shows the lens is actually 6-layer full-glass elements, not plastic junk like some others.Video clips can be set as one, three, and more minutes long. The loop recording is also available. 3.0" LCD cell phone level screen is used on it. The video looks great with all the details. The screen it itself is good. The colors are right and the brightness is okay. However, when it's installed on the front windshield, its limited viewing angle prevent the screen showing things perfectly. This could the improved in the future.【Real protection on the road】I keep using dash-camera since I realize if I was hit by someone on the freeway, the videos on the dash-cam would be my only chance to win the battle of the lawsuit, and also greatly reduce the work of related insurance agent and the Police officer. Everyone would be happy. Most of the time, I don't even realize the dash cam is there. Literally just set it and forget it, but it's always protecting me. Such a small investment that will save you big time!!【Battery Performance】It was claimed that the camera supports around a couple of hours video recording when the 320mAH battery gets fully. But it is advised to connect the camera to power supply all the time if possible.I appreciate your time and feedback. If you have found my review helpful, please take a moment to click on "Yes, helpful” to let me know. Thank you!
Worth the money

I did a lot of research before buying and this one really was impressive. I love the 170 Degree Wide Angle Lens, you can pick up more of the road. Lightweight design, automatically start recording when the engine is started and stop recording when engine is turned off. Excellent clear audio and beautiful picture. I was not impressed with the instruction book and the online book is pretty bad too.Package Includes:Rexing V1 Dash CameraIn-car charging cable(12ft)3M adhesive mountUSB cableUser Manual1. What's Needed:Micro SD Card(Our recommendation: Lexar High-Performance microSDHC)Optional Accessories:Rexing GPS LoggerSuction Cup Mount for V13M adhesive mount· Rexing Hardwire KitI strongly recommend this it’s really awesome.
Saved me from being "AT FAULT" for an accident!!
July 13, 2016
Thank goodness for Dash Cams! Most of the time when you seen a front/rear collision, it is often automatically assumed that the rear driver is at fault. However, in this case, it was not and this dash cam is my only proof of evidence. I installed this dash cam myself back in December when I purchased my car and wired it myself. It wasn't difficult and I was able to conceal most of the wires. Anyway, there's tons of reviews here that elaborate on the product, so I encourage you to read those.
Just what I needed.

Pros:Everything, easy to use, hardy, gets the job done, set it up then forget about it, long power cord for hiding, takes photos, starts and ends on ignition, audio, g-sensor, quality video, wide angle, time stamp, good looking, and inconspicuous.Cons:Doesn't come with memory card, Takes up cigarette charger.I'm very happy with this. When it arrived, I was a little worried because the box had a little dent in the corner like someone had dropped the box. But nothing was affected and everything works great.I drive a lot because of my job, and I have been a witness to several accidents in the past couple years, and felt it would be helpful to have a reliable eye on the road. I've always wanted a dash cam, and my sister was also recently rear-ended by a driver who decided to speed off, so I figured that there's no time like the present. This dash cam had everything I wanted (and more). In the box you get:The CameraDC power cordUSB cordAdhesive window mountUser manualSet up is very simple. Insert the memory card, plug in camera, and mount it. It has real time playback, so you can mount it while recording, to set up the perfect vantage point.I hid mine behind my rear-view mirror. The manual is very simple to understand, and the camera comes with recommended settings that are already set up. Aside from the time and date, I didn't change a thing. The picture is clear and the angle covers everything.Retrieving the photos and videos is very simple, and I love the option to hard save a file at the touch of a button.I have not encountered a single problem with this product, and I would recommend it to anyone.Great product, great value.
So glad I had this guy the other day
February 20, 2016
So glad I had this guy the other day! See picture below. You'll never know when something potentially life changing could happen. This picture is off my computer screen taken with an iPhone. The video is actually much better as you can make out the plate. I'd suggest hardwiring a USB port to turn on and off with the car so it's a set and forget it type device until you need it.
Can be a butt saver.

Love the wedge shape. I can't see it behind the mirror while driving. Lady ran a red light today as I went into a panic skid. Things happened really fast, and are closer than they appear on video. If we had collided, there were two witnesses, "IF" they stopped. If not, it would have been my word against hers without the camera.

love these

Straight out of the box you simply insert a micro-SD card, mount the suction cup holder onto the windshield, and plug the cable into the camera and the cigarette lighter/power port (or matched power pack). If you want to set the date and time and the various other settings in advance you can do that before getting into your car by plugging the USB cable into a power source. Scrolling through the menu and settings is easy and really don't require the use of the instruction booklet, but the instructions are helpful in explaining some of the terms you may need to know to select the specific settings you want. I would highly recommend this top quality dash cam to any one looking for a way to record their journey to oz
accidental purchase...., really like it after all.
November 20, 2016
This was an accidental purchase. I was trying to see how much it would cost to actually get it shipped to my address and accidently hit the "buy" button. In the end I was pretty happy though. There are some tutorials on YouTube if you have a hard time with the pamphlet. My only complaint would be that when you start your car the camera does come on but it is in the "pause" mode and I have to remember to "un-pause". Other than that, color is fine, clarity is fine, night vision is fine, and I like the way it stores info. in ten min. blocks. Memory card is a must.
*******Best bang for your buck************

Probably one of the best dash cams for the price !! Extremely happy with the product and it was vey easy to setup. Yeah it came with the usual Chinese instructions with a little bit of english on the side, but wasn't hard to figure out. Liked it so much I installed one on my wife's vehicle as well. So the next idiot who runs a red light and says its my fault, try again...
Best Budget Option
September 6, 2016
After my big Lecmal mistake, I gave this one a try and I can attest that it is far superior to other budget cams. The suction cup is sturdier and the adjustment is much more simple to pivot. This one rotates while others are on a track that breaks. The camera itself is gorgeous it looks like a super slim handheld camera. It is very small and lightweight and you can make it disappear in your car by putting it high up yet under the rear view mirror. I have attached photos proving the quality and compact size. It even came with its own micro usb connector for uploading videos to a computer.
I was surprised how easy it was to setup the device
September 24, 2015
I was surprised how easy it was to setup the device. Popped in the micro mini flash card and plugged into the car charger that came with it and it worked like a gem! The day pics were very bright and clear. The night pics we were able to make out the vehicles but not their license plates too clearly. This came with an HDMI cable that allowed playback on HDTV but you can play back film on camera, or upload it via the usb cable or the mini flashcard itself. This would have been a five star review if the night vision was better. I'm still learning about it and perhaps it's my settings that need more adjustments.

Works pretty good, smaller than expected, could be better
June 29, 2017
This dash cam works pretty good and was easy to install and easy to upgrade the firmware. I did find it easier to resort to reading the instructions manual on this device instead of trying to figure all the features out by just trying all the buttons. This dash cam requires a class 10 micro SD card (or better). I am using it with a 32GB, but apparently it supports up to 128GB. I originally tried to use this with a cheaper 16GB card, but it refused to record anything until I swapped it out with the better card. The video/photo quality is good enough but not quite as clear as my smartphone. The wide viewing angle is good for catching activity at the sides that would normally be out of view, but makes for a fish-eye playback that is a bit unnatural. When mounted the LCD screen is a bit hard to read without looking up at it from underneath, and the camera picks up a glare from the front windshield. This is much smaller than I thought it was going to be based on the product photos. It can easily fit in the palm of my hand where I thought it was going to be about twice as big originally.Transferring videos is easy enough but requires removal of the micro SD card or using the USB connection. I found it easier to remove the whole dash cam and plug it into a computer to pull files off than messing with the SD card directly or bringing a computer into the card.PROS:- High resolution wide angle 1080p- Adjustable viewing angle- Easy to lock a video, take photos, and toggle audio mute from the front panel buttons- Loop recording with automatic lock on accident detection- Small size, blends in with surroundings- Automatic and quick turn on (and record), and turn off- Automatic display turn off after 15 seconds (or as configured) while recording- Audio quality is decent and has good pick up- Firmware is user upgrade-able- Supports up to 128 GB micro SD card- Uses standard USB port for power- Has battery backupCONS:- LCD screen is hard to read unless viewed at a fairly tight angle- Requires Class 10 or better micro SD card (not included)- No WiFi support, requires physical removal of micro SD card or plugging the device into a computer via the USB port to retrieve files.- Video quality could be better- Picks up glare from windshield- A second mount to easily transfer this to a second vehicle would have been nice
LOOK NO FURTHER

Works best on the windshield near the DASH not near the ROOF.I bought this to replace my VEHO MUVI which I hated, but used until it broke. This is FAR superior and VERY easy to use.My only complaint is the power cord that is angled properly ONLY if you mount the camera on the windshield near the ROOF. I mounted this the same way I mounted my old one, a few inches above the dash. It shows ALL of the area in front of you from the edge of the hood to the sky. So why are they designing it to be mounted near the ROOF where your rear view mirror and/or sun visors will be in the way? The power adapter is L shaped at the end. Pointing UP. It should be pointed DOWN if you mount it on the bottom of your windshield and then hide the wire in the molding. BAD DESIGN. The unit should have the wire angled DOWN and they should be marketing this to be mounted at the bottom of your windshield where no mirror or sun visor is in your way.Clicks onto and off of the bracket easily.Angle of the lens is perfectVideo is ASTOUNDING.I honestly researched a LOT of these things after being disappointed with my last dash cam and have bought and returned five of them. This is the BEST one out there. One star off because of the angle of the power cord where it plug into the cameraJust wish the wired were angled DOWNWARD instead of UPWARD. which looks ugly when you mount it near the dash instead of the roof.I DID NOT RECEIVE THIS FREE OR AT A DISCOUNT IN EXCHANGE FOR A REVIEW. I FIND THAT PRACTICE UNETHICAL AND BIASED.
Small detail makes all the difference. MFG please ship with black foam tape...
August 26, 2016
Product is well designed and blends in nicely. I did not want to have some ugly suction cup mounted camera with a cord dangling across the dashboard to a cigarette lighter power jack. This camera allows for a flush mount and with some handy work I tapped into the 12 volt power of my truck using this http://amzn.to/2bGAZcp 12V-USB power supply. Unlike an other power supply I bough this one is small and has a short USB cable! After careful installation I was dismayed to see the camera stand out like a sore thumb due to the white foam tape that came with the camera. It took quite some effort to remove this tape from the windshield and install it a black 3M double sided piece of foam tape. Will see how the camera works in real life. I might get a 2nd one facing to the rear.
I like this unit and so far have been impressed
June 10, 2016
I like this unit and so far have been impressed. However, there are a couple things that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. First is the placement of the ferrite bead/choke. It's only 3" from the unit. Try hiding that bulky thing under the headliner and you'll have a bulge that you can't help but notice. If they had placed it closer to the plug to the DC socket, it would be easy to conceal behind the floorboard carpet or dash somewhere (that's out of sight). The second issue are distracting aspects. One is the screen that defaults to turning on. It's easy enough to press the far right button and turn off, but you must do that every time you start the car/turn on the unit. However, even when you turn off the screen, there's a constant flashing red light that reminds you the unit is recording. This light bleeds through several of the buttons, so it cannot necessarily be isolated by a piece of electrical tape.If you have the option of placing the unit behind the rearview mirror, it shouldn't be an issue. However, the glare reducer that's in the vicinity directly behind the mirror (most cars have this) prevented me from placing the unit there. It's on the passenger side as close to the mirror as possible where the glare reducing film ends.Beyond those issues, this unit is awesome. Unlike many other units, the instruction manual is NOT in engrish and actually makes sense. All the questions I had about the unit's features are covered in detail in the book.If you purchase this unit, I sincerely doubt you'll be disappointed. The strikes it has against it are relatively minor.
Good sub $100 camera but power adapter melted after 3 months
May 31, 2016
Good quality video during the day, not bad at night for a $100 camera. Camera works as intended, once it's set up you can forget about it.The only problem I have is that after 3 months, the included power adapter got so hot it actually melted the plastic housing. It was only supplying power to the camera (no other accessories) and the adapter is completely unusable now- Any idea where I can get a replacement?
Lasted 2 years. Worked well the 2 years it was alive...
July 20, 2015
I liked this dash cam alot. Recorded good quality video, easy to use and reliable. Only two bummers about this dash cam. One, it does not do very well at night. Can't see anything unless its right in your headlight beams, and even then you can't see very far out. The only exception is if your in a well lit area such as a gas station or a street flooded with lights. Two, the adhesive mount that keeps the camera secure to your windshield does not hold up very well in the hot sun. It will hold for a while, but eventually you will have to either buy another mount/clip, or use more/fresh adhesive. Rather than those two things this dash cam was close to perfect. I am a little disappointed that it stopped working completely after 2 years exactly. All the cam does now is stay on the boot up blue "Rexing" screen. Ive tried to reset it and leave it unplugged for a while but no luck. I have a feeling the summer heat finally got to the internal components and fried the cam. I wish it would have lasted longer.

Very good for the price
April 19, 2017
The camera feels kind of fragile, and it overheats a lot if you have the screen ON for more than 2 minutes, fixed that with the auto OFF function, the video quality is ok, but you can't compare it to more expensive cameras.

Good
Picture quality is very good. Really
February 4, 2016
Honestly, I'm still trying to figure-out this little device. Picture quality is very good. Really, the only issue that I'm having trouble figuring out is why the date & time have to be reset every-time the device powers down. I leave it plugged into the power outlet; therefore, it's getting a constant charge. No doubt, it's likely something I'm doing wrong. Nonetheless, I like the little dash camera and will likely buy three more - one for a secondary family vehicle, one for my son's car, and one for my company car.
Might Be OK Depending Upon Your Desired Use And How Good You Are At Figuring It Out
November 2, 2015
The quality of the hardware is excellent and there are many functions. However, even though you have a 32GB card in it will only write 2.9 GB to the card and stop recording if you have Loop Recording turned off. You have to restart the recording after this. This is equivalent to about 16 min and 19 sec on 1080P. Before the recording starts the screen says you have almost 3 hours of capacity. However, it is possible to get around this by turning on Loop Recording to say 10 minutes. Then, it will make 1.8 GB files every 10 minutes and when the card is full, around 27 GB, it will start writing over the earliest files. So, if you want to keep something you have about 2 hours and 48 minutes to get it off. I got contact information from Amazon and they gave me an email address of the seller but I never got a response. I was asking about why the device stopped after 16 minutes. I had to discover what it was doing by experimentation. Do not expect any help. It is funny that on the front of the lens it has 170 degree(symbol) Wind Angle. It also states 12.0 Mega Pixel F2.0. The instruction manual is fair but does not explain some of the symbols that pop up if you happen to push the buttons on the side lightly. They seem to have dual functions. It looks like these things were manufactured in bulk and then someone bought them and wrote a manual, boxed them up in generic boxes, and put them on the market. I do think for the price it is one of the better units.

decent value.
August 24, 2017
The cam we received has good and bad features. I am giving it 3 stars because it is not bad, but it won't knock your socks off, either. Good points to consider when purchasing :1) price. At just under a hundred dollars, this camera has some good features. It has room for a big card, and therefore can hold a lot of recording time. Much of the recording will be useless, but that's just life.2) features. The cam has a nice crash capture option. I have some concern that a crash recording would easily be corrupted given the other reviews, but I am open to hoping for the best since I at least have a chance with this.3) option to hardwire. Be sure to order extra kit, and not complain if you miss that and now have a 12 ft cord hanging around.4) night video quality is pretty poor. If you are in a metro area it may be better, but the cam needs some work in this area.5) heat seems to be OK for this cam, but no mention of low temp. I am hoping that it will be fine during winter. All in all I am satisfied with the cam. It is a good bargain for those of us who want the basics, and don't want to spend a mortgage payment on a dash cam. Happy buying!
The Rexing seemed good at first
August 14, 2017
It would seem that with the massive amount of insurance fraud that a solid, quality dash cam would be available on the market. If it exists, please point me in the direction because I really want one. The Rexing seemed good at first, however, the fault I identified when I first installed it in my car is what I believe to have doomed it. Being a minimalist, I did not want to have two cameras (one for each vehicle that I drive), so I purchased one and would transfer it to whatever car I would use. I switched the camera between cars on, maybe, three occasions before it puttered-out. What I noticed when I placed it in my vehicle the first time was the power cord, especially the location of the in-line noise filter. As the cord is quite lengthy, therefore relatively heavy in regards to the camera itself, I feared that over time the cord would ultimately wear down the input jack on the camera. With that in mind and being that I did not want to permanently affix the camera in one car, I kept the cord where I could easily remove the camera from the car. I did so by looping the cord around the rear view mirror 3 - 4 times before running it down to the accessory port. Doing this worked great but sometimes the cord would loosen and slide off the end of the mirror leaving the input jack on the camera to bear the stress of the dangling cord before I would, again, loop it around the mirror. Sure enough, after having it just over two months, the camera would sometimes power on & off quickly. When this began to happen, I was able to manipulate the cord to where it would stay powered-on. However, this was short-lived and, eventually, the camera failed to stay powered. In the video, you can see how the cord can be wriggled to where the camera begins to power-on but, if the camera were to be on the support clip on the windshield, it will stay powered-up..In addition to the aforementioned issue, I also encountered another annoying "feature". If the recorded files were not immediately downloaded from the micro SD card, they stood the chance of somehow being corrupted. It took me a few times to realize how this happened but it occurred when I would remove the SD card from the camera, insert it into my laptop, then PLAY the video (only one would play...........for about a second) before downloading onto my external hard drive. The video would stop and a window would pop up saying the files had been corrupted (or something of that nature). When I would go back to the files on the the card, the names had all been changed to wing-ding characters and the files could not be accessed. I lost some pretty good videos of wildlife, including a herd of the biggest elk I've ever seen trotting up the middle of the road in the early morning hours while in Great Basin N.P. I do not buy cheap SD cards, so I doubt this was the problem. Photography is my passion in life with all of my gear being top shelf, including the MANY SD cards I have. Just to be certain, I purchased a Sandisk Ultra SD card to test my theory. Sure enough, it did exactly what I described when I tried to watch the videos straight from the SD card. Anyway, this was resolved by downloading the videos PRIOR to watching them from the SD card. The search for a quality, affordable dash cam continues. I hope GoPro is listening.
Can be a better for the price.
June 11, 2017
I don't understand the raving reviews. I am not too impressed by the user interface and it took me more than an hour to figure out and set it up just standalone(minus the car installation). I am not a fan of the fact that you have to key in all the information using just 2-3 small keys on this device. That is setting date time, car number all other permutations of the device is pretty much time consuming, owing to this. The clarity of the photo and video is neat, it does go into default record mode the moment you turn it on. Second, not so good feature is that the firmware update has to be done by visiting the rexing website. It means you have to1. Switchoff2. Get the SD card off.3. Download firmware update files into your system from their website4. Then use a card reader and get your SD card plugged to the computer.5. Transfer the copied firmware update files on SD card.6. Put them back into the device. Now is the fun part, if you have done all the settings already on the device, they will be erased. So you basically have to start from square one!It would have been great if the instructions said outright that you update firmware and then start the setup/device customization...So someone who has customized already, will either have to skip firmware update given the long steps and time involved, waiting for anything to go wrong. Which in my opinion is incomplete setup and can be improved as an experience.Anyways, barring these two hiccups I would have liked if the device supported WIFI and app browsing to look at your videos/download real quick instead of having to mount/unmount it to check all the time. I will upload some videos, here is hoping it works and lives up to its value, unlike many reviews stating it stopped and they did'nt know it did.
Perfect as a rear looking camera on my 2008 Toyota Highlander. But beware what brand SD Card you use.
July 30, 2016
I've already been using a dash cam that had a rear looking camera, but the rear looking camera is next to the front looking camera and looks through the rear window from the front of the car (a 2008 Toyota Highlander), so identifying a license plate from that camera would be unlikely, and problems do happen from the rear. After looking around I decided to try the Rexing V1. It's working perfectly. I have it mounted high up on the center of my rear window within the wiper sweep. There is a 12 volt source in the cargo area of the Highlander so powering up and concealing the cord was easy. I like the small wedge shape and the fact that it.s mounted with adhesive and not a suction cup. Although I can see it in my rear view mirror, it does not interfere with my backward view at all. And best of all, I can clearly make out license plates of cars behind me, even if they pass to the right or left. With this camera mounted, I can now use the two front cameras to have a very wide frontal view.IMPORTANT UPDATE: 10-9-2017. I had been noticing the screen coming on periodically while I was driving so I checked recordings today to see what was happening. I found that there were large gaps between recordings while I was driving. Not good if the gap happens to occur during an incident. After checking to make sure I had the most current firmware version, I telephoned Rexing, explained the problem and that I was using a Sandisk 128GB SD card. She told me that Sandisk was not really compatible with my VI and I should use either a Lexar SD Card or a Transcend SD card. Not good since coupling a Sandisk card with the V1 is clearly illustrated on Amazon. So I dropped my five star rating to three stars for forcing the extra expense.
It's okay. I might even consider purchasing it again depending on its' durability.
July 29, 2016
May 2017:2 months short of a year from getting it. The camera still works. The image quality is still the same. I've been parking outside in direct sunlight in sunny southern California and the camera has not fallen apart yet. The camera has been mounted on the windshield almost the entire time. I've only taken it down about 4 times so far to check up on the camera to make sure it's still kicking. I would have increased it from 3 stars to 4 stars except that I noticed that the screen on the camera started flickering. This isn't a big deal for me since I only view the recording on a computer. I'll update again when I have additional useful information/feedback.August 2016I purchased this dash cam 1 week ago. Overall, it's ok. It suits my need as a dash cam in case something happens in front of me. Picture quality is excellent during the day if the sun is not facing directly at the camera (I have it set on the highest resolution). If the sun is facing it, than I would say that it is only good at best. You can still make things out and still be able to use it as evidence if you need to, but it wouldn't be HD quality. I haven't had a chance to drive it at night yet, so I would not be able to comment about how well it works at low level light. I'll probably come back later to update this information. I have the 32g micro SD card, and it will last about 5hrs of driving on the highest resolution in case anyone is curious.Additional information:The dash cam arrived packaged really well and as advertised. The plastic feels like it could break if I dropped it, so I'm very careful not to. Getting set up is easy. A firmware is already preloaded. It's really a no brainer if you don't want to do anything to it. However, if you want to update the firmware, which I think is recommended by the vendor, you will need to go to their website. They have the "Stable" and "Expert" firmware available. I'm currently using the "Stable" Firmware and have not had a chance to use the "Expert" firmware because I've had issues with getting it install and having the dash cam work correctly. The "Stable" firmware works as it is suppose to. I have no complaints about the "Stable" firmware. The "Expert" firmware, I'm still troubleshooting with their Customer Care. Their last response to me was to re-download the firmware again and change the bin for the FW file to BIN. I haven't tried it yet since it would be my third attempt at trying to get the "Expert" firmware to work. I'm thinking that I probably won't bother with it anymore since the "Stable" firmware is working for me and I don't really need all the other features.Battery life:On the questions and answer section of Amazon, I saw a few posts by Rexing USA about the battery being able to last 20-30 minutes when the dash cam is unplugged. However, when I tried it, the rechargeable battery only lasted about 5 minutes for me. I contacted their Customer Care about it thinking that there was something wrong with my batteries and they said that the information on Amazon is incorrect and should be around 5 minutes. It was a disappointment, but it wasn't a big issue for me. So if you are hoping for the 20-30 minutes battery life after it is unplugged, don't count on it.
HAM RADIO DEATH BOX
May 18, 2016
Really not a bad cam. Nice Mounting, Decent Video. For the price I would rate this a 5 star EXCEPT for 1 thing... RFI/RF INTERFERENCE.When this sucker is on (whether or not it is connected with the power cable), the RF noise is HUGE. I like amateur radio, and any VHF signal below S7 gets driven into the noise when this unit is on... So, for me this unit is unusable.I 1-star'ed so that it has chance to get seen by other radio folk... Seemed fair since there were over 1000 great reviews, but other cams have the same problem (like the DEXORS X5) -- so, I bumped the review to 3 stars to match what I did with other cameras that had this problem.... :/ Now nobody will see it, but, at least there is review score parity...

Day time clarity is average. Quality goes low with light. The glare from traffic lights, brake lights, etc make it even worse, even at 1080HD ;-( Can't see the license plates clearly. Will post photos/videos soon.

Picture and video is very good , but the battery life is non-existant, and instructions on use don't help at all and difficult change any settings, wouldn't suggest this model to anyone.
easy to record/stop recording
December 27, 2015
It's small, easy to record/stop recording. Has optional audio. What I don't like is it doesn't hold its position well on the swivel and it the power cord HAS to be plugged it to hold a charge. The camera gets hot easily from charging. I would recommend paying a little more for a camera that doesn't need constant power

Does what it's supposed to, until it doesn't.
August 14, 2017
9/22/17 - Back to a 2-star review:I received the replacement camera and have had it installed for a few weeks. I am having a different issue with this one, one that still makes the camera cumbersome to use and not reliable. When I am out of the car for a period of time (varies from a few hours to a few days) the internal date/time resets, and the camera locks up if I don't quickly set it - it gives me about a 15 second window to start setting, or it turns off and is unresponsive until I disconnect the power for a minute. If the date/time is not set, the camera will not record. I have updated the firmware with the latest version on the website, but have not had any improvement.Update 8/20/17:Rexing has reached out to me and offered a replacement camera. I have not yet received it, but will update further if I have issues with the new unit. Updated rating to 4 stars for excellent customer service.Original 2 star review:I've had this dash cam in my Focus RS for almost a year. I have the manufacturer-suggested SD card in it, and have followed the troubleshooting process on Rexing's website several times to see if I can make the camera work consistently. I purchased this dash cam because of the good reviews, and had good luck with it for about 6 months. Now, the camera will stop recording occasionally, with the only indication a quick flash of the screen. Because I have it mounted mostly out of my view, behind the rearview mirror, I don't always see the screen blip, and only realize that it's not recording after I go to see the footage I've "saved". I have hit the "save this footage" button numerous times in the last few months, only to go to watch the clip later, to discover it never recorded to begin with. The footage it does manage to record is great - very clear, with good sound - which is the ONLY reason I can give it two stars instead of one. I simply can't rely on it to be recording when I need it. I will be searching for a replacement.
Very cheap.
July 1, 2017
Cheap, not at all worth $100.All of the mounting gear is off-the-shelf 3M standard cheap crap. It won't hold for more than a few weeks tops. Mine fell off in a day (can't handle heat in the summer). 3M makes great stuff, but not consumer-grade. I ended up using electrical and duct tape, looks horrible, but holds better than the tiny cheap cable clips they give you to mount it.Camera might be good, not really sure, couldn't test it. I can't get it to stay on my windshield long enough to record anything useful. The AC Cable has one of those ferrite clips on it, making it 10x harder to route the cable through any part of your car.The mount clip broke (very cheap plastic), the adhesive doesn't last. Also just wanted to add that I am having the same issue a few others are having. It won't turn on or off automatically. Not that big a deal, just remember to unplug it from the cigarette lighter jack when you turn your car off or it will kill your battery!Maybe skip this one.
Good picture. Works as advertised most of the time. Will not stay attached to windshield.
April 8, 2017
I've had it for a week. Seems to work as advertised. Picture is very good (though I adjusted the default exposure a bit). I would have given four stars but for two issues:1) The device doesn't seem to power on every time I start the car, even though it is plugged into the charger 24/7. This seems to happen most when I get out of the car for a short period of time, then get back in, such as stopping for take-out.2) This isn't really the cameras fault, but it does pick up a lot of windshield reflection from my dash. So the bottom quarter of my picture is hard to see because it's showing the reflection from my windshield.I would recommend this cam so far. I kind of wish I had gotten the v1p with the read camera though.Update 6/13/17: I have removed two stars from this review. The sticker that holds the camera to the windshield does not tolerate warmer weather, and I routinely come to my car in the morning to find it has come unstuck, and fallen onto the floor. I have tried a replacement sticker with same issue, and have even tried some super glue. The camera still works fine, but is somewhat useless if it won't stay attached to the windshield.
It didn't like the 128gb SD card out of the box
September 16, 2016
Got this today. Spent 49 seconds flipping through the manual, enough to get the basics setup. It didn't like the 128gb SD card out of the box. Had to put the card in while it was on just for the camera to see it, although the manual said DONT DO THAT, but it worked. I updated the firmware, s et it up and installed it while running errands and just let it run. I like it's setup as install and forget, it starts and begins recording at accessories are turned on, and powers off at shutdown. I reviewed the footage when I came home and it's high quality. Some plates are hard to see at night due to the state, but I can't blame that on the camera. NJ more reflective than NY for example. For the price it's decent and full of options. I need to read the manual more before I comment more on ease of use features. I would like it easier to use, even if it meant more buttons. The screen is only viewable if your looking at it straight on. Unless your facing the screen flat, it's not clear. The unit is smaller than expected from the pictures, that's a plus. I've only used it for an hour so far, with reading that manual, and experience using it, maybe my 4 star will turn into a 5. I know friends are unhappy with their suction cup versions, not only do the cups fail, the snap in holders tend to get loose. That shouldn't be a problem with this. Its been a few months of use, and I find that it randomly stops recording. You can stop and restart the recording again, and the counter will go, but it just stops randomly. This happens even after a card format. Not really good for a dash cam.Dropping from 4 stars to 2.
Unreliable recording
July 17, 2016
I've been using this unit for several weeks. It was easy to install and use. I had no problem with the adhesive mount.BUT, several times when I've started the car, it has not turned on automatically. Sometimes I will notice and manually turn it on, but I am sure there are times when I don't notice and it doesn't record for the length of my trip. One of the features I specifically looked for in a unit is for it to automatically turn on when the car is on so I don't have to think about it.At other times, the screen will randomly turn on while I am in the middle of driving and I will notice the red recording dot is there, but it's not flashing as it normally does.I had a very close call the other day with a car that was driving in the wrong direction! I checked the SD card and found the entire incident had not been recorded. On top of that, when I looked at the history of videos, it seems the unit recorded sporadically as I had suspected. There are entire days or trips as well as parts of trips that are missing from the log. What is the point of having a dash cam when it doesn't reliably record?
Doesn't work all the time...
March 25, 2016
This was very easy to install. It comes with an adapter that uses the cigarette lighter plug. But that would leave a wire hanging down from the windshield. I don't think the power wire is long enough to run around the edge of the windshield, unless you had a very small car with a very small windshield. Instead I spent the extra money on this:Dash Camera Vehicle Hard Wire Kit - Mini USB Compatible with G1w / G1w-C / G1WH / GT680W / Mini 0801 / Mobius Action Spy Tec Camera and More | Car DVR Camera Recorder Dashboard Dashcam | Black Box Video Recorder |and this:Pico 0956PT 10 Amp ATM Mini Blade Fuse Add-A-Circuit Fuse HolderThe hardwire kit will work with this camera. The Add-A-Circuit should be vehicle dependent...so be sure you get the one that matches the fuses in your car. The one I posted here should work a lot of cars, but you should double check. It's much easier than just jamming the power wire into the fuse box like I used to do.Anyway, with those parts the install was easy. The camera itself seems to work great. I haven't had to go back and use the footage yet...but I've checked the card a few times and it's recording fine. BTW, as other reviews mention, get the 32GB card max.The settings out of the box are fine...I didn't change much. But the manual is actually very good (nice surprise) and it's easy to change anything you want.I had been thinking of getting this for a while, but never pulled the trigger. I was riding in a car the other day and it was struck by a guy driving recklessly. Fortunatley it wasn't my car, and I wasn't driving (and no one was hurt), but I remember thinking that if there was a dash cam installed, the issue of who was at fault would be much more simple. I pulled the trigger that night, got the camera in 2 days, and was up and running a couple hours after that. Worth it for the peace of mind.**Update 4-18-16**I've been periodically checking the SD card and the recordings are sporadic. It will record for 5 min, then it stops and doesn't start a new recording. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Also, the other day I saw someone driving crazy on the highway, I hit the red button to save the file, but when I got home, it wasn't saved. So, it only records sometimes...which is definitely NOT OK for something like this. The point is to have a recording when you need it. With this unit I have no confidence that it's recording.Maybe my unit went bad? At this point I would not buy again.**Update 7/9/17**I kept this unit going until I sold the car recently. Here is what I found over the past year. The type of SD card you use seems to matter. I don't recall what SD card I was using initially, but something about it was not compatible with the unit. I cheaper card seemed to work much better. The biggest issue is that cold temps prevented my unit from working. The unit won't turn on until the temp inside the car is warm enough. I don't know what the unit has inside for power (battery), but whatever it is, doesn't seem to work when it's cold. So the first 15-20 min of each drive is not captured until the unit warms up...in the winter only. Aside from that, it seemed to work OK. I'd still keep my 2 star rating. In my new vehicle, I'll look around a bit before installing this again.

It worked great for about 6 months
June 30, 2017
I purchased this dash cam on December 2016 brand new. It worked great for about 6 months. It stopped working about two weeks ago. It would only record for about 8 to 9 seconds and will stop and start a new clip. I have tried to restore to default settings multiple times, and it doesn't fixed the issue. Would not buy this brand again nor would recommend it. Will pay more for a more durable product.

Doesn't hold a charge. Doesn't remain charging. After leaving it plugged in overnight, I woke up to find it at the same charge level as before. At the moment, I have it constantly plugged in my car. I really dislike driving with driving with the cable dangling like that. Definitely returning.

At first this cam was fine. After about 8 months
September 22, 2017
At first this cam was fine. After about 8 months, it started acting up. The picture got bad and then there was nothing but black screen. Rexing (who has very good customer support) sent me another one with prepaid freight for the bad one. The new one did not work. They sent me a new power cord, that didnt fix it. They sent me another one, I just got it, and it doesnt work. Their customer service has been very good so far.
Looks Awesome!! Doesn't work!!!!
September 21, 2017
Don't wast your time and money. I bought one of these and liked it the first day. I ordered a second one for my other vehicle. By the second day, the first became very unreliable, only recording once in a while and sometimes recording for the entire drive while only saving a single frame over and over. I returned this one and hoped the second one would work better...it didn't. It was also unreliable often not turning on and when it would turn on, then it wouldn't turn off. Indicator lights worked sometimes and didn't work other times. Sent the second one back also.
Unreliable dash cam ☠️☠️☠️
September 7, 2017
Received this dash cam 9/6/17. Ran it through recording and play back and worked flawlessly on 9/6/17. Checked it again on 9/7/17 after app 3 hours of operation and the dash cam had randomly stoped recording. Went thur the troubleshooting guide without solving the issue. This dash cam is unreliabile.
DO NOT Trust this Cam!!
March 14, 2017
Like the others said, this camera will stop recording any time!! You will miss a day, or a week of recording.I just have an accident and I was excited to pull the files from the SD card. When I browse the files, it's nothing on that day. Made me so frustrated!!! What's the point to buy this dash cam?!?!!The last recorded files are from 2 weeks ago?! I am 100% sure the cam is on everytime i starts my car, because I can hear the cam's start-up sound. On last weekend, I just give this cam another chance. (I reset the camera to factory, format the SanDisk Extreme 32GB MicroSDHC card) and test the camera for the day. I have make sure the cam is on everytime. After the trip, I pull out the SD card and put in my computer to check.Again, the folder only show 30s files of the day and it's all night time video. The cam even skipped the day time recording. How can you trust this cam?? disappointed.
Failed me when I needed it most
February 24, 2017
I had an accident today. This dash cam was BADLY needed to prove the accident was not my fault. The REC light has been blinking red, indicating it was recording all this time. I pull the SD card and find the footage on the card is over 6 months old! Nothing on the card, nothing was being recorded. I am SO frustrated. Avoid. I paid good money, and now when I needed this to work it failed me!
Great when it worked...but now it randomly stops recording
December 22, 2016
I bought the Rexing V1 maybe 5 months ago but only recently installed it within the last 2 months or so.I like all the features that everyone is probably familiar with. And I really have nothing to add in that department. When it works — it works well. But when it doesn't work...Then we have a problem. I need this to work all the time without fail. Unfortunately however, this camera has taken to just randomly turning off without warning or any alert at all.Since I have this camera mounted behind my rear view mirror and I keep the monitor off — I can't see or hear when it randomly shuts off.Case in point yesterday evening. I watched some road-rage happening in front of me with some crazy drivers. I immediately reached up to lock the video in the event the road-rage escalated into a collision. It didn't.But after I got home, I went to check the footage anyway and wouldn't you know it, the camera had shutoff 2 hours before (according to the last video) and missed everything.I looked at the last video taken and it showed me driving down the road normally and making a right turn...then the video starts to get a bit screwy and promptly goes black. No apparent rhyme or reason either. It's also hardwired into the truck and it was done properly and professionally. So not loose wiring.I guess I'll see if there is a firmware issue or update, but I'm really feeling like there is a physical cause inside the unit.Despite liking this camera, I can't give it a positive review at this time until I can figure out if this is a correctable problem or not.A dash camera that turns off randomly and doesn't turn back on is not going to work well when there is an accident.I would have felt really dumb if I told a peace officer that I have dash-cam video, and then find out my camera wasn't even turned on.I'll update this review when I learn more.
