A little difficult for short people like me to get out of since there is a little give in the center, but not impossible. I wasn't expecting a bag to put it in, so that was an awesome surprise. Really sturdy well designed cot March 3, 2017 Purchased two oversized kamp-rite kwik cots. These cots have a great design & very sturdy construction.If you sit in the middle of the cot they're quite stable. For the price they can't be beat. I like the oversize feature that gives you room to move about on the cot. The cot height works for me & provides ample room underneath to store duffel bags & camping gear. The cot has no center bar, and is firm and supportive. I did purchase two light speed camping mats to make the cot experience more enjoyable. I also purchased the kamp rite quick set table, silver which is well designed and sturdy as well. I highly recommend these Kamp Rite products. Exceeded my expectations. I'll be getting a couple more for company! May 1, 2015 I can not say enough good things about this cot. I know some other people had issues, feeling like they were "sleeping in a bath tub" but honestly, I don't see how. Maybe theirs was defective. First pulling it out of the box, the bag itself is decent, just be gentle with the zipper. It unfolded quickly and was up in literally seconds. Make sure the legs are completely extended so that the material of the cot flattens out. Not doing that could possibly be what the bath tub sleeper was talking about. Going back into the bag was also pretty easy. Just make sure you have all the material tucked inside itself nicely before attempting to stick it in the bag. As for comfort of the cot, it's more comfortable than my bed. Extremely supportive and very comfortable laying on my side. I'm a big girl (300+) and I was afraid of either crushing it or falling out of it and it held up nicely! Also, I'm a side sleeper and it had just enough give in it to relax my hips. I could turn easily and there was no creaking or popping from any of the joints. Personally, I don't need any extra padding other than my sleeping bag. As for it being high off the ground, it is. I'm 5'7 and my feet dangle a little bit but push yourself off the back bar as you are trying to get down and it's no problem getting off. Worth the hop down. (Almost) Like Home! August 4, 2014 This thing is AWESOME!!! Bought it for 4 day music festival. I didn't want to bother with an air mattress so I put a $10 egg carton twin mattress pad and a yoga mat down and it was perfect. I was able to sleep through the night without air leaking out and could flip over with ease. Assembly is easy and fast - takes less than five minutes. It does NOT lock open, so it is held open by your weight. Sturdy enough for my husband to use at Scout camp. June 11, 2016 Here is another item that we purchased for my husband to attend Scout Camp. He is a new Scoutmaster and this will be his first year attending camp. As a leader he doesn’t have to sleep on the ground but can take a cot with him. Now, my husband is not a small man and wanted to be sure he had a sturdy cot that would handle his size. There are several things that he really likes about the Coleman Pack Away Cot. One is that it is 80” long and sits 17” high so he doesn’t have to sit down so low to get on the cot and will hold up to 300lbs. Another feature he really likes are the crossed, metal legs that easily fold out and back up again and then the folded cot fits into a zippered case. He likes that the hinge at the center of the side rails is covered by a canvas flap. The last feature that he really likes is that the side table can fasten on either side of the cot. At just over 20lbs this is not a backpacking cot but will work well for camping in a spot where he can park close to the campsite. Very comfy and worth getting! October 12, 2015 I bought this cot because of the reviews and price. I have to say, my husband was not a fan because it does not lock but we used it all weekend on a camp out and we had absolutely zero problems with it.I move A LOT in my sleep and it was great. I did put a small cushion underneath just in case and used my sleeping bag. I was very comfortable all night. It is very long and wide enough for me and my husband. I am heavy set so I was a bit reluctant to buy a cot. The cot is built well and can withstand a lot of movement. I would recommend this to anyone. Very worth it!Make sure you have a big enough tent. I have an 8 man tent and I had room for both cots and enough space for someone else to sleep on the floor. I don't think you could fit 3 of these in an 8 man tent. Keep that in mind when purchasing. My Kind of Cot August 26, 2015 These cots are exactly what we were looking for. The unfold and fold up easily and they were the perfect length and width. It made a big difference in our camping experience. My husband cut a foam padding to fit and with our sleeping bags on top, it was comfortable and secure feeling. While we did not use the side table, it's nice to have them available if we decide to use them in the future. So much better than air mattresses because we now have the room underneath the cot to store all our camping stuff. All in all it was one of the best buys we've found. Worth it. Four Star Reviews: | 18% Great quality, but use a blowup mattress on top July 26, 2017 This worked fine. It is uncomfortably hard which caused me to deduct a star. I folded a quilt and sheet and placed under my sleeping bag which helped but I was envying the blowup mattress on my husband's cot. It might loosen a bit with time, but at least it didn't sag or have bars hitting in the wrong place. Materials are good quality and it was easy to put up. I would buy again, but I definitely recommend using a blowup with this one. Great for tall people July 16, 2017 Great size and pretty tall. Its comfy even without a sleep pad but I need the pad for warmth. 5nights camping and it held up great. The ground had a bit of a slope so we had to be careful with the legs as moving it could cause them to fold. Even so it was better than the yoller cot that bent on day 2 update! does not open it close easily March 25, 2016 UPDATED- After over a year of nightly use, it has required only one stitch job. It's big, though, so be prepared. We have a large tent 11 x 9 in the main area. When we use 2 of these in our tent, it leaves very little room for anything else. During the day we lay one on top of the other so we have more room.The one thing I would change is to have some type of locking mechanism on the legs. We were a bit surprised that there was nothing that holds the legs when extended. It beats the heck out of just sleeping on the ground! Much more comfortable! THey are very sturdy and supported my 6'2" 300lb body well and comfortably. Nice Folding Cot for Camping July 2, 2015 Very nice cot. My teenage daughter (about 115 lbs) slept on this at camp for 4 nights in a row and said it's comfortable.She was a little nervous about it folding up with her if she put too much weight on one end, but it never happened. The way the cot's legs are designed (your weight holds them down, they don't click/lock into place) it was a possibility. I stored her suitcases under the cot after setting it up, that way if it started to fold it wouldn't be able to go very far. No problems and the bonus was getting the suitcases out of the way! :) The only time the cot tried to fold up was when I was putting the sheet on, because I had got up on my knees to reach the other end of the cot and my weight was very unevenly distributed on the cot.Overall very pleased with this purchase. Putting up and taking down was a breeze (I did it every morning and night to make more room in our cabin). Just a note- the side table is an on or off kind of deal, it does not fold down out of the way. You have to remove it, which isn't a big deal since it literally sits in place, but it's worth mentioning. Well made and comfy June 9, 2015 As my son started Cub Scouts, we needed to get some camp gear. (our pack camps a LOT). Before I invested a bunch of money in the gear, I borrowed some from friends to make sure the wife was on board. She loved it, so time to gear up.I borrowed two different cots. One like this and one with stretchers across the head and foot. I liked the firmness of the tightly stretched cot with the bars, but they were pricey. I found these and bought two so there would be no discussion over whos was better.After several camping trips, I found these are far easier to setup. The stretched ones take some real effort to get the bars in. These just unfold and ready to go. They are quite comfortable, and the little side table is great as it has a cup holder. We've even used them for guest beds with no complaints.I guess eventually I'll need to get two more for the kids. Since it's been so long I can't do anything about it. Too bad, everything is still new. It's very comfortable once you get it set up April 5, 2017 It's very comfortable once you get it set up. If it is not on flat ground it will sometimes start to fold up while you're sleeping. I'm only 5'2 and it was very difficult to set up and put away by myself. It's pretty heavy but if you're big and strong and have a big enough space for it then this is the cot for you! While I find the product good, the construction is a bit poor November 15, 2016 While I find the product good, the construction is a bit poor. Due to a screw being too long, it ripped the bed fabric and now will only get worse. I've only owned it for about 45 days, so too late to return it. Decent November 13, 2015 It's pretty good. Though annoyingly, the kamp rite "self inflating" mattress doesn't quite fit on top, it is a bit too large to fit within the cot side frame so it ends up being slightly slanted of way or the other. A foam pad would probably work better. I ended up just sleeping directly on top of the cot. It does sag quite a lot, and does form divots in the material, especially if you sit up and concentrate most of your weight in one spot. It's also quite loud and creaky, and the legs are kind of a pain to keep extended (I'm not an engineer but it looks like a locking mechanism on those would be pretttty easy to implement) . But I've slept on it for about six months now and it's been a pretty good, comfortable cot. It did recently sound as if some threads snapped when I was getting onto it (I'm 235 lbs), so there's a chance it may fall apart on me soon. Solid February 20, 2015 Solid is great, but also means heavy. It is VERY firm. I prefer a soft sleep. I folded a couple of blankets on top, but it is still a hard sleep. We definitely will need to buy some foam. We bought it to try to use at home for guests and car camping, but with the weight and extra padding needed, you would need a lot of space in your vehicle. **warning** there were small scratches on our wood floor after our guests left. It did arrive late, so order early if you need it for an event. Sturdy and Long June 17, 2014 This thing is really, really long .. and really, really sturdy. I was able to open it up myself .. it's not too heavy to lug around. Definitely only good for car camping though. I don't know about how you would also fit a 60lb dog on it with you .. like another reviewer mentioned, but it is definitely roomy.Updated 2015Used it a third time for a three day weekend. . First time since 2014. While tbe frame is still very sturdy and easy to assemble, gotta tell you, i will never sleep on it again. There is absolutely no back support .. and i can barely stand up today. I remembered it not being comfortable last year, but it was terrible this time around. I woke up at least 8 times each night with my back aching.. no matter the position.Also, be sure to check the measurements of your tent if needed. . I have a 6 person hexagonal tent, and this cot pushes the sides of the tent out. My only problem is there is no way to lock them in place, so they can collapse if you are not careful or don't have them all the way open. I got them for my kids, and the first time they used them one collapsed when my kid got on it. She didn't get hurt, but learned that if you are getting into the cot, you need to do so carefully. Okay for the kids July 2, 2015 It makes a lot of creaking noises the first few times you use it; I think it needs some breaking-in. It has a funny smell to it that's gradually dissipating. It's very heavy and surprisingly difficult to set up with only one person because of the odd way it folds up. And be careful not to wiggle too much in the head-to-toe direction while you're lying on it because it might collapse and you'll end up on the floor. And it's not very comfortable unless you put some kind of pad on it. Perfect For Home - Not So Much For Camping March 11, 2015 I would give this a TEN for a temporary cot AT HOME - it's incredibly comfortable even with no pad. It's a comfortable length, width and even height. The little table is helpful just because this sits as high as a typical bed (less chance to tip it over reaching for something). Unfortunately, as a camp cot it probably rates a TWO - as this thing is very large and very heavy (21 pounds) - what you cannot imagine is how awkward this is to get into a tent if it's not fully closed. We actually hurt our backs getting it in and out of tents - it's almost too large for even our largest 4-person tent. June 10, 2016 My wife and I purchased 2 of these based on the excellent reviews but were unable to use them because of excessive sagging. I suppose they would be ok if you don't mind being confined in a "hammock like" cot, but I like to change sleeping positions and would not be able to do so in this cot. I weigh 170 lbs. and my wife is 110 lbs. so I don't think our weight was the problem. We did find other cots that were more difficult to assemble, but also had much less sag. Skip it. May 12, 2016 Our guests said it felt like laying in a firm hammock. When i tried it out i was disappoonted to habe to agree. Its not tight enough to prevent bowing like a hammock. We ended up having to sell it off of craigslist. Tore after 7 nights March 26, 2015 I bought this cot and used it camping at a music festival for 4 days. It was very comfortable, and it is easy to set up. It didn't last very long though. The following year I brought it again to the music festival and it started ripping. By the 3rd night, I had to sleep very carefully because it had completely torn on the left side. I bought this for the holidays to accommodate an unexpected family member down for Christmas. Upon setting it up it had an alarming amount of wobble. On the first night of use the legs on one side collapsed. This resulted in frame being bent. It wont fold up correctly now or fit back into its storage bag. Let me start by saying these cots are heavier than I expected. When we unfolded them they kept collapsing. We looked for instructions to lock the legs only to discover they don't lock at all! We did not have them collapse while sleeping on them. However when our children bump them or push them on the sides, they nearly landed on a few toes. I'd like to also say I am a thin woman, but found the width a bit difficult to get used to. Those bars don't feel great on the hip bone. I am terrified all night that it is going to give as it rocks back and forth. The zipper broke on the third use, which I am sure is too late to get it replaced or refunded. So now I have a great cot, with no easy way to store it. Annoying! Unsafe. January 8, 2016 Very unsafe collapsed on me three times. I finally had to place wood between legs to use product. When you lay on it and move the front legs fold forward. The leg structure is not like the picture. This item should be recalled. Someone will get hurt. seams tearing with my 6'3" 150lb son sleeping on it! December 10, 2015 Started out ok. Collapsed, Dangerous as Designed March 25, 2017 We received 2 of these cots a month ago. We used them the first time tonight for 2 of our grandsons. I told them to only get on and off from the center not the ends. I noticed the cots were unstable in the long axis as I put them up, but pressed on as the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. An hour after they went to bed, we heard a noise and crying. He was not getting off the cot, he simply shifted enough more towards the end and the cot shifted enough to collapse. The cot had collapsed at the head end, the end that is most probable to have the most weight, regardless of the size of the person. The cots need framing added to ensure they are stable end to end as well as friction added to the legs where they contact the surface they are standing on. They should be designed so that they do not shift and or collapse regardless of where the weight is. Damaged product! December 26, 2016 The item itself was damaged inside. Tue box was fine which tells me the product was packaged in damaged condition and shipped. I had it less than 6 months and only used it a hand full of times and it got a tiny tear in it........that tear proceeded to split wide open and dump me onto the ground..........for the price you pay you would think that they could make a better, stronger fabric. Solid cot, comfortable enough, but squeaky and no locking March 21, 2016 It is nice and big, so you never feel like you are falling off or have to crunch up your legs. Very sturdy construction, so it should last a lifetime. What I don't like about it is that the material squeaks very loudly around the bars, so every time you roll over or get in/out it makes noise. Not a huge deal if you are camping or in an otherwise noisy environment, but we got it mainly to help with sleep training our baby in the nursery & the squeaks are not very good for that. Also, the legs don't lock in place so if you try to scoot it over, it collapses all over the place.UPDATE: Changing to 1 star since it ripped down the side and we are under the weight limit. We weren't folding it up, it just ripped while laying on it.
