Replacement

for the exact same one we've had for years. The old one cracked from trying to chop ice- good, light shovel, but not an ice axe.
Good shovel. Lightweight
January 9, 2017
Good shovel. Lightweight, decent edge for scraping. Probably not intended for heavy duty, northern winters, but handled the 2" of powder I got just fine. Busted through the next day's inch of ice with no damage to the shovel.
Great snow shovel
April 14, 2015
I got this shovel prior to the winter of 2014-2015 because I needed a good but light weigh shovel to clear my alleyway during the winter snow storms. I used it for all 17 storms we got over this winter.I had no problem shoveling one shovelful at a time because of the weight of the shovel. My only regret was I should have ordered 2 to have a spare so before next winter I will re-order again
Cheap shovel that works
March 1, 2014
I toyed with the idea of buying a high end snow blower--not that I can really afford it, but with these winters it is starting to seem like a better and better deal. This snow shovel though has been doing the trick. It has gotten me out of quite a many jam. I was able to rescue myself from being snowed in, even when the snow was high. The only time this shovel has problems is when the snow melts from rain into ice sheets. The trick is, I think, to go out when the snow is still light and fluffy. Even if you have several feet of snow to dig yourself out of, it is not that bad as long as the snow hasn't hardened. I think for the price and the fact that this shovel has not broken yet, it is a great find. You will be happy with this shovel if you are looking for a general shovel.
Best Snow Shovel By Far
March 1, 2014
I have used this particular Suncast snow shovel for about 10 years now and if you can be in love with a snow shovel then I am! I have had to buy it on line twice over the years (buying 4 at a time) because stores in this area don't carry it. This shovel is sturdy, durable, dependable and reliable. There is no metal strip on the bottom which is excellent. It is able to hold heavy snow without twisting in your hands and it is strong enough to use for chopping at snow without breaking. You don't appreciate a really great snow shovel until you are buried in snow. So far we have had 57 inches of snow this winter and my snow shovels have been there for me. You won't be disappointed if you buy this shovel.
Dug me out of over 2 feet of snow
February 15, 2014
I ordered this online on a Monday knowing a huge snow storm was coming to hit. I live in an apartment complex with snow removal, but we do have to dig out our cars. They plow and do side walks. I was wishy washy based on reviews but ordered any ways. No store had shovels in stock any more, and definitely not after out hard hit PA winter. Seemed a bit pricey, but I was not wasting a tank of gas driving around hoping someone had a $10 shovel in stock.I spent 3+ hours on Thursday, 4+ hours Friday, and 4+ hours today shoveling out. This thing got the job done. I not only did my car but helped neighbors as the plow decided not to do a decent job. The shovel carried heavy, wet snow. It was not flimsy. The plastic did not bend. Because of this, even though a small plastic shovel, I have to give 5 stars. The only thing I wish it had was a metal strip to break thru ice, but that is livable with.

Seems to work fairly well, but don't expect a heavy-duty shovel for this price. I was careful not to overload it and it held up well right up until I ran over it with my truck. ;)
It broke :( but I loved it.
February 8, 2016
I had to wait a year to review this because it arrived after the snow last year. This year we had 18" and it was a champ until my husband started using it...and it broke. So I can't speak to if he was being too rough with it or not, but it seemed very sturdy while I was using it. I would probably buy this again. It's lightweight and wide.
Just in time!
February 13, 2014
I ordered this item and upgraded to next day delivery just in time to deal with the snow and ice 2/12-13/2014 in North Carolina. The snow shovel is pretty lightweight, but more than strong enough to handle the task I set forth to do with it - shoveling the mixture of snow and ice off of my driveway and walkway into my home. I'm 6'2" and wish the shovel was a little longer/taller, but I still got the job done!
Great for light and moderate snow
February 10, 2014
I bought this shovel based on the reviews. The winter in the northeast this year (2013-2014) has been rough with storms that have dropped 10" of light snow to storms that have dropped 8" of ice, sleet, and snow. The first storms were all light and this shovel performed like a champ. Nice and light and easy to maneuver the snow. My only gripe was that the end of the shovel would get caught in the cracks in the ground while I was pushing it, but that's really my fault, not the shovel's.In the light snow it was great! Unfortunately when we got about 8" of heavy slushy snow it did not perform so well. With ten minutes of shoveling the heavy stuff it cracked right where the blade gets connected to the shaft. To my surprise I was able to keep shoveling for awhile until the whole thing broke apart.I would easily buy this shovel again, but I am planning on buying a more heavy duty one for heavier type snow.
Getting used in Indiana this year.
January 21, 2014
I purchased this for my son who asked for a shovel for Christmas. He liked getting a shovel but thought that this one was pretty useless. That was until the Polar Vortex hit Indianapolis with a vengeance. I happened to be there at the time. I am a 62 year old woman. It worked like a charm. As long as you keep on top of the tumbling snow, you are good to go.When the snow was finally cleared he went go back to his usual snow cleaning method of waiting for the solar melt.My husband suggested that my son's initial disappointment with the item was because there was no human attached to the handle.Aww, kids.It is a shovel. How much can one expect from a shovel?I come from Canada and Buffalo. This would be fine there too.

I haven't used this shovel yet but it is a lot smaller than a standard shovel. I thought it was an averaged sized shovel due to the high ratings. Will update after I use it a few times but I intend to purchase a different, wider shovel that will clear more ground faster that this one will.
Kind of flimsy
February 27, 2014
I bought a plastic shovel from Amazon before and thought this was the same. It wasn't. It's smaller and does not have the metal across the bottom. This was a bad winter and this shovel didn't do very well handling all that heavy snow. I need to buy a better one.
Does the job
February 22, 2014
Not as sturdy as some, but a good price. Check the length and compare it to something else you own; I think it's too short for six-footers.
it's ok
January 4, 2014
i bought this for my daughter in n.c. becuz they sometimes get snow and home depot or lowes do not sell snow shovels down there!! it will work for lightweight shoveling but if i had bought it for ohio weather....i would send it back!! it looks cheap and feels cheap but wasn't exactly cheap..i bought a very nice18'' scoop snow shovel at home depot in ohio for the same price as this was. BUT..my daughter does have a shovel if she needs one now and i love the fact that i can ship to her house from amazon..

I feel I got my monies worth with this shovel. No more, no less. The shovel itself is much more flat with very little arc than I thought it would be. It does not carry a large shovel full of snow. I would not buy this again, but it is my own fault for buying a shovel over the internet versus trying them out in a store.

It broke after 2-3 snow
Cheap shovel that works ... until it breaks.
March 15, 2017
These shovels are light, the handle is fine in terms of length, and they're efficient for moving small amounts of snow. That said, they will break. I've now gone through 5 in 5 years. This is SE PA, not Canada. If the snow is light, no problem. Wet snow? Forget it. They will break at the handle rendering the shovel useless. I've also had the blades crack. They're inexpensive, just go in knowing what you are buying. If you need to shovel small areas, or very rarely, they're probably great. But know this: they will break.
Very weak quality
January 21, 2017
I had this exact same shovel for 10 years and it kept on tickin. I ordered two new ones and the plastic is about a third of the thickness of the original. One of the new ones cracked clear in half the second time I used it.
New design is weak
February 16, 2016
I bought this shovel recently because I had the "identical" shovel for many years of good service but is was a little worn down. The new one broke within a month. Examining the two shovels carefully showed that the new one was of a slightly different design, without some extra thin strengthening ribs on the back. Good job by some designer saving two cents a shovel while significantly reducing the strength of the design. I recommend not to buy it.
Decent enough for small accumulations. Suspect durability.
July 2, 2015
Decent enough shovel, shaft can handle a full load of snow in the shovel. Lacks enough "shoulder" or scoop to work as a plow when there's more than one or two inches on the ground. My neighbor that has a deeper shovel cleans up a similar sized driveway in half the time I can, because he can just plow with his shovel. If I try to use it to push/scrape rather than lift, any accumulation over 2" will spill over the shovel instead of collecting, making the point moot.EDIT: Second winter. Huge accumulation due to the Jonas storm. I was trying to clear 2' out of my walkway, and the shovel broke. The flat of the blade has developed a huge crack. I can still use it, but I need a replacement (and of course, after the storm, there's nowhere to buy one)
Warped
February 8, 2014
At least on the shovel I received, the blade is warped so that it doesn't completely come in contact with the ground. In other words, it will miss some snow when plowing/pushing across a driveway. It would be a quality shovel if not for the warping, it's good for throwing snow, but not pushing/plowing. And I didn't return it because the box was received beat-up and ripped, and it didn't seem worth the hassle. Also, a tip for any serious shovelers out there: if you coat your shovel with wax by rubbing a candle all over the blade (both sides), it'll prevent snow from sticking -- this means no more tapping your shovel to remove built-up snow -- but beware that the snow will fly off the blade when you throw it, as there's no more friction.

too short
February 10, 2016
I am 5' 6" tall and this 48" long shovel is too short to use. I would have to bend over constantly and never be upright. It would be great for children or extremely short people.
Cheap Shovel, Cheap Quality
January 31, 2016
Overall, it was a nice snow shovel until it broke after roughly 5 minutes of constantly shoveling. The pan cracked first, and shortly after the pole broke about mid-way through. Not much else to say except it's cheap, and cheap for a reason.
Not sturdy at all as they can't deal with a New England winter.
March 2, 2015
Bought two of these and they both broke after the first year. STAY AWAY from these unless you shovel snow near Florida.
Not for heavy use
March 3, 2014
I bought this snow shovel for my Grandpa to use at his cabin in Washington. It broke within the first week - we were moving a lot of snow and it couldn't handle it, broke the shovel head in two places, then cracked completly through and is no longer usable. Not for heavy duty use.
