Cheap fix for ice damns in a poorly insulated home
June 25, 2017
My 1950s house does not have much insulation and also has poor attic ventilation. This leads to ice dams in the gutters and damage to the roof. This shovel makes it easy to remove snow so I can keep the ice damming to a minimum.
Great product. Light and easy to maneuver.
May 27, 2017
What a great product. Totally adjustable, light and easy to maneuver. I bought it to clear snow from my satellite dish on the roof. I taped half of an old towel around the plastic head and it clears the dish without scratching it. Did I mention it was a great product?
How deep?
May 15, 2017
Much as we did not like having to buy this in the middle of winter, it was a Godsend. We had so much snow on the roof that we could not reach. This is not only a handy gadget to have on hand, but a necessary one as well. Now that we have it, we hope to never need it again. All the local merchants were out of them, but we could not get out the driveway to get one anyway. Having it come to the door was wonderful.
Great item, can't beat the price either.
March 11, 2017
I was able to use this to clean leaves and pinestraw out of the valleys of my roof that I couldn't reach with a ladder. It was so easy to use and made a hard job much easier.
So far, so good
February 5, 2017
Received my Snow Joe roof rake much faster than expected. All parts were accounted for, though I added a quarter size washer where the stabilizing brackets attach to the pole to give added support thanks to previous suggestions to comments regarding it breaking there. I've only used it once. So far, so good. Also, the uppermost twist and lock plastic mechanism is not meant to go up over the bend towards the head. You are meant to pull the pole out from there to get to the holes for the stabilizing brackets. I say this because I had seen comments with pictures saying they had received a defective roof rake showing pictures of them trying to put that plastic piece over the bend. It confused me when I got my own. I assumed I also had a defective roof rake. Thankfully, I discovered their mistake before complaining and returning. Hopefully this information will help someone else. :-)
Love this roof rake
February 8, 2016
I love the length of this roof rake, it's one of the longest I could find. It's also very lightweight, more so than my other 17-foot roof rake that I got at the hardware store. I will say that it gets slightly unwieldy and bows when it gets to it's maximum length, which I suppose is to be expected for something that long and lightweight. I do love that you can adjust the length because you don't always need it to be at it's full length, gives you much more control when removing snow from different areas. The telescoping is also nice that you can shorten it up a bit for storage. EDIT: after a few uses, the screw/bolt that attached the braces to the the pole came loose and fell off in the snow. I am looking to get a replacement bolt & nut, but my advice is to check this before each use. Seems like from some other reviews that this might be a common problem. Still, I am happy with this purchase in that it's long and telescoping.

It's retractable and fairly small so it fits great in my car
February 7, 2016
This is just what i was looking for! It's retractable and fairly small so it fits great in my car. It looks and feels more flimsy than it actually is but the material is actually surprisingly sturdy, durable and helped me out a lot during a recent snowstorm.
PERFECT
February 4, 2016
i cannot rave about these enough! SUPER well made sturdy material convenient and compact! used these right after the last snow storm here in NJ but $30 investment i made all year! you wont regret these. i shoveled out my tires and yea if you have any doubts on whether these can handle rough heavy use DONT. perfect!
Decent quality but a great value for the cost
December 27, 2015
Decent quality but a great value for the cost. I haven't used it in extremelyCold temps yet as that will be the true test to its durability
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!
March 19, 2015
Bought this product for my husband based on previous reviews. We live in Maine....enough said. It worked amazingly well on our car during this horrendous winter. Then my husband had to go to Philly to help out our daughter....they had a flat tire and were buried in snow. The shovel worked perfectly to unbury the tire and the brush and scraper worked very well....he especially liked the extender for all parts.
Great!
February 27, 2015
Great for the car, great for slicing snow, excels where plastic shovels don't.It looks like normal shovel, but it held up to slicing out sections of the 20 inch snow drifts from this record breaking snow dump, the same one that collapsed the Metrodome and effectively shut down the city. It's not good for actually carrying snow, but great for digging underneath a car and moving snow away from wheels, or building a snow cave sort of thing. It has zero flexibility and is very good at carving or spiking through snow. Well worth it.
perfect kit to keep in car.
February 15, 2015
It arrived two days after I ordered it. The kit is delivered in a 19"x10"x5" box, lightweight, easy to store in car. It is easy to switch between bush, shovel and Ice scraper. The shovel is a smaller than the one we have at home and is very good for the narrow area which the big shovel can not reach. It is a perfect kit to have the this snowy winter. I love it

Good tool for light snow removal.
May 22, 2017
Good quality roof top snow removal tool. A little light, but for the price, if you are careful, it does the job just fine for occasional. Recommend buying a heavy model if you must move a lot of heavy wet snow.
Good to have, easy to use
March 22, 2017
Decent, lightweight tool for removing snow off my roof where ice dams tend to build up. Very lightweight and straight forward to use. Easy to telescope in and out to get the proper length. Would have given it 5 stars but it tends to flex a lot when close to fully extended. You have to "swing" it a bit to make the next pull. Overall pretty good product and would most likely buy again if anything were to happen to this one.
Works good, worth the money
March 16, 2017
Arrived on time and was simple to assemble. Used it the next day after a 16" snowstorm. The snow was heavy with high water content, so it was a good test. It took a few passes on each section to get all the snow off down to the shingles, and it worked fine, the handle did not loosen and the "blade" did not twist. I even used the edge of it a few times to whack at some hanging chunks of ice on the edge of the roof (not recommended but couldn't resist ;), and it held up, no problem.
Snow Joe has excellent reach. It is very durable
March 10, 2017
Snow Joe has excellent reach. It is very durable; however, the material of the rake is very light. This is good for lifting; however, with the weight of the northern snow, it lifts itself to the top of the snow when you pull back. So, you have to do more passes; but other than that, it it best roof rake I've used. I was worried about the telescoping joints; but, they hold very well! Overall, good product: I definitely recommend it!
Good stuff.
February 18, 2016
I found this to be a reasonably good quality roof rake. The telescoping handle worked well and stayed where I put it. It is fairly light and easy to move around. I have had others that were a lot more expensive including that one that uses a roll of plastic. For my use this one is better. I need to get into some valleys, it does that well.
good roof snow rake for the price
February 16, 2016
A good roof snow rake for the price, have used a few time with no issues. It has been a mild winter so far especially compared to last winter’s record breaking snow for New England so have not put it to a heavy usage test yet but so far proves easy to maneuver to get the valleys and gutters cleared as well as the straight roof sections. Each section of the pole is easy to lock or unlock and stays locked and the only issue I had was the support straps did not line up with the bolt holes. They are fairly light weight so easy enough to twist slightly to get them to line up correctly. All and all seems worth the price.

Not sturdy enough
April 15, 2017
It works.... it's a little flimsy. It won't help once your snow starts to harden, at all. Once I learned you must use it every time it snows and not let snow accumulate, I was able to keep up with it. However, if you have a pile of snow on your roof and want something to remove it, you probably want something a little stronger.
Useful but unwieldy
April 1, 2017
I didn't need a snow rake, I need a leaf rake for my roof. This works pretty well, but it's unwieldy and a little tricky to use. The handle expands in several places. If not tightened sufficiently, the handle will collapse. I had trouble seeing what I was doing. I'm short, so that may be the problem, but I think it would be easier to use standing in the back of a pickup than on the ground. I was able to get the limbs and leaves off the roof without a ladder, so I'm happy about that.
A Bit Flimsy
March 22, 2017
Bought this to remove pine straw from my roof to prevent wood rot. This worked fairly well, however, it is a bit flimsy particularly when fully extended.
hardware was lose in the box and could easily have been lost in opening it
February 7, 2016
Pro: extendable lengthCon: hardware was lose in the box and could easily have been lost in opening it.I've had issues with ice damming during CT winters so I ordered this roof rake last December to have it on hand this year. I finally opened it today as there were several inches up there and more snow coming this week.Did a great job getting to lower areas of my roof. When trying to get the highest parts I think a ladder will be necessary to do a good job. Something I was hoping to avoid. I was able to get the rake up to the highest spots but was not at the right angle to really scrape off the snow like I did on the lower roofs. I was able to knock off some snow at the edge but will definitely need to get a ladder our to complete the job.
Nice product in some respects, needs work in others.
January 19, 2016
It worked well for the first 3 minutes then the support straps pulled out of the plastic blade. I need to mention that I was trying to remove 3" of powder type snow at the time of the failure. The roof rake was not treated roughly in any way. This product has an inherent flaw in the way the straps are hooked to the blade. My other roof rake has a better connection for the straps, but I absolutely hated the handle/pole assembly with the multiple poles. I love the telescoping extension type pole method and how smoothly it extends and locks. The 21' reach was also very handy.I just hate having to re-engineer something within literally 3 minutes of usage that I have paid almost $45.00 for. I realize that we live in a disposable society, but 3 minutes is just not acceptable in anyone's book. (Has anybody else noticed the severe decline in product quality?)After 30 minutes and about $5.00 (8 fender washers, 2 1/4" bolts, 2 lock washers and 4 nuts) worth of hardware and it was back up and working better than when I unpacked it. I would have preferred to use stainless steel fasteners and lock nuts but I didn't have any available so I made do with what I had on hand. I could have returned this as defective but I really needed to clear my roof as the light snow was melting and creating ice dams on the leading edge of the roof.Just a word to the wise. This manufacturer needs to rethink inserting a small brass insert in molded plastic to attach a stress point on an item that is intended to be used in the cold and snow.I have attached 3 pictures of the rake after the failure and 3 of it after I retrofitted it to actually work.
could be better
December 15, 2015
the telescoping handle does not stay in place, it has a tendency to extend or retract when it feels itself wants to. not the best design, mostly just annoying but it does work, also the rake part is really small!

Not nearly heavy duty enough for the job
April 23, 2017
This item is far too lightweight and made with low quality plastics. I live in Alaska and after using this thing only a few times it's bent. I can't imagine it will last more than a year. There must be higher quality rakes out there for similar money.
Not the best snow removal tool
March 22, 2017
This seems to work ok but the hard plastic head feels like it will not last and like it will damage the shingles. I have used it twice this winter and probably will not again. The handle came off guring the second use.
Bad quality.
January 18, 2017
I bought this in spite of the reviews for quality issues. Thought I'd take the chance. Well luck was NOT with me. The aluminum looked to be old or poorly recycled tubing because it had at least three significant pits from corrosion. These were eating through the wall of the tube and were potential weak points. Also, the plastic connector between two of the sections of tubing was not installed correctly at the factory and the pole pulled apart when I was using it, leaving the shovel on the roof! I could not fix it so it was worthless at that point. Otherwise I liked the length of the pole and the size of the shovel.
Glue your joints together.
January 15, 2017
The poles pulled out of the plastic collars. Not just one of the joints but all three pulled out. The locking side holds tight. I used some adhesive to hold everything together and it seems to stay together now. The rubber grip also needs some adhesive to stay on. I like how this can extend to any distance and lock into place.
Headache
January 1, 2017
Had to use my Dremel to cut back the plastic in order to access the screw hole. The item itself is nice but the manufacturer needs to pay attention when assembling. I've included a picture. The seller and Amazon were great but this shouldn't be happening.
Excellent rake, light and good quality
January 5, 2016
Excellent rake , light and good quality, BUT had no hardware when I received it to install the end on the pole, I needed to use it so I had to go to local hardware store and buy it. Their QA needs to pay attention and make sure its there..

Know the shovel size before you order, handle broke on the 2nd day
January 24, 2016
Handled most of the blizzard of 2016 okay, unfortunately the handle snapped off and broke the second day. I wasn't expecting such a small shovel and without a handle it's that much more work.

Never received. Looked good and great price, but never received item.
A useless and puny little roof rake.
March 6, 2017
A pretty useless product. I got this to rake snow off of my roof. It is lightweight as the description says but not in a good way. It broke within 5 minutes of trying to get snow off of the edge of my roof a few feet back from the roof line. It dug into the snow and a pole segment detached as I tried to pull the snow down and is now broken. I can only conclude that this is a pointless product. It might work for a couple of inches of light powder snow but who needs a snow rake for that? Maybe there is a very light duty application that this could be useful for but not as a solid and reliable roof rake for one's home.
Broke after 5 minutes clearing fresh powder
February 3, 2017
This winter (2017) in the Pacific Northwest, we received record levels of snow. My husband hand shoveled 2 1/2 feet of snow off our roof (2200 Sq ft house). He was so sore that I started looking for something easier for him to use after the next storm. This snow rake was on a lightning deal, so I bought it. The next storm dumped 12 inches of fresh powder on the roof. The snow was very dry and not compacted in any way. The next day my husband tried this out. The rake snapped off the handle after 5 minutes of use. See other customer pictures of the break. Mine is identical. The thin aluminum pieces are held together with 1 bolt and it snapped right along the center of the predrilled holes. The aluminum poles were so thin they bent under the weight of the snow when fully extended.I'm so bummed! I hope this would help, but it wasn't up for the job.
Snow No, NOT Snow Joe
January 18, 2017
Within a 1/2 hour of using the Snow joe it snapped off right at the bolt. Not a product I would recommend. I will be wanting my money back on this product.
