Wonderful

very nice grate! very heavy duty and will last a long time. holds the wood perfectly. exactly what we wanted! :)
Worth the price.

Very satisfied with this product. Very sturdy and high enough off the floor to keep the hot ashs and coals from not allowing proper air flow to keep your grate from burning out . This one is made from real cast not just a medium steel that doesn't hold up. Would highly recommend this for many evenings in front of your warming fire .
My grandfather loved it,
January 6, 2017
"Looks just like the one I bought over 20 years ago" ~ Grandfather likes it, threw his old broken one right out. It's already seen a few fires so I know it's not defective and waiting to crumble to death.

Had purchased a log grate at a big box store and after four fires in the fire pit, it was a warped up piece of trash. I wanted a grate that could take the heat as well as allow for enough clearance for my propane log lighter underneath. The longer legs allow for better ventilation and more room for ashes to accumulate between cleanings. This grate is built like a storm drain cover in the curb. I really don't think the heat will ever destroy it. The flat floor of this grate holds an adequate number of logs and requires very little stoking. I am totally satisfied and would recommend it unconditionally.
G800 Series Cast Iron Grate
January 14, 2014
This was the perfect fit for my fireplace and my husband is very happy with it. He heats the house with the fireplace at least 3-4 times a week and when the temp drops he uses it every night. Time will tell if it holds up but it's looking good as of now. He also picked this one with the higher legs so he doesnt' have to clean the ash as often.

Well-made tools
October 14, 2016
Sturdy iron pieces that will likely last a long time. A great set fireplace tools that are attractive and well made, not lightweight and flimsy like others I've seen. I'd certainly recommend this set above others.
Very nice sturdy fireplace set.
October 10, 2016
This was promised to be delivered a few days ago but we got it today. Apparently there was a problem with the carrier not with Amazon. My daughter opened the package and put it together it took her just a few minutes. The first thing she noticed was the weight, very heavy, very sturdy. We had a fire tonight and used the poker and the tool for picking up the wood and moving it around in the fireplace. They're both very sturdy as well as the rest of the set, very easy to use. The only problem we have is the tool for picking up the wood ( not sure what it's called) it's different from our last set so it takes a bit to get used to.I actually like it a lot better than my old set and am extremely pleased with it!I researched quite a few fireplace sets on here and was wanting a basic set but one that was very sturdy, i would definitely recommend this set to anyone looking for a very sturdy nice fireplace set.
Great fireplace tools
February 24, 2013
This set is excellent. It comes with 4 tools:1) A poker2) A broom3) A shovel4) A "grabber" that has a scissor like pivot and 3 prongs to securely hold/move a logThey are all heavy duty wrought iron, 7/16" square material. Each tool is very solidly built, there are no flimsy components or screw on handles that could rotate during use, like other models I've seen. The handles, which are also used to hang the tools, were made by looping the rod around, to form an eye.The base is solid as well. It joins together with 8 total screws, which fasten the vertical components to square brackets at top and bottom. No rocking around or anything.I highly recommend this unit. It is built to last a lifetime, and I plan on owning it that long.
Looks Good, Works Great!
December 10, 2012
I wanted to find a set of fireplace tools that looked decent, took up little space, and would actually work on an ongoing basis without falling apart. This set fits all of those criteria! We're about halfway through the winter, we burn wood in our stove every day, and so far the tools show no wear at all. Primarily we use the poker, but we have also used all of the others at some point. I have not noticed any color fading. They tuck up nicely between our brick and the freestanding stove. It is very easy to pull a tool off and hang it up again, even the ones on the side away from you. There was some very basic assembly required upon opening the set in order to set up the stand for the tools. It only takes about ten minutes to do and isn't complicated at all. I was worried that it might result in a flimsy stand, but it hasn't. The stand is very sturdy and won't tip over easily. The tools are a bit on the heavy side as you might expect of something made of solid iron. If you're looking for a good quality, hard working tool set, I would recommend these!
For the money, it's not bad at all!
November 21, 2012
This tool set is pretty nice, given the cost. In a retail store, it would probably set you back around $125 to $150, I would imagine. When I bought mine, I was originally thinking I might weld the 4 legs together, in order to give it more strength, etc. However, when it arrived, the method they used to hold the legs together was fine. They use a square little cap affair, which has threaded holes on each face - this hold the legs 90 degrees from each other to form the support for the tools. Once you secure everything, it's actually quite sturdy. The entire tool set is heavy duty for sure. It's made in china, but it's not what you'd call cheap at all. Think something you'd get from Cost Plus Worldmarket. The tools have a hook at the top and the end appears to be stamped via a press of some sort to give it a little lip at the end.Again, overall, it's very nice value for the money. Mine arrived double boxed, which protected all the parts. Even with damage to the shipping box, there's not much that could harm this item. It's solid iron. The shovel is nice quality and so are the poker and brush. In my case, the head of the brush was on fairly loosely, so I had to tighten it. I just held the brush head between my boots and turned the handle until it tightened down and aligned as I wanted. The poker is okay, but the little hook on it is a bit long (at least as compared to the one it was replacing). If I ever buy an anvil, I may hammer the hook on the poker into a slightly different shape, but for now it does the job pretty well. The real jewel of the set is the well made tongs. Growing up, my Dad had a set of those accordion looking tongs, which I hatted. The tongs with this set are really well made and work fantastic. You can use them to easily pickup logs from the fire and move them around. Just having this one tool practically makes the entire cost of the set worth while. The base (which holds all the tools) is a hair off balance, but it would be a simple matter to adjust the feet. Out of the box, it stands straight up, so no complaints at all. Overall, it looks good and blends in well. Nobody would ever reach for a tool on this set and feel like it's inferior quality or that it's cheaply made or anything. It's heavy duty and gets the job done. It might not look quite as cool as a $700 hand forged set of tools made by a black smith, but for 1/10th the cost, it's the next best thing in my opinion. I have an upscale home and this item does not look out of place by the stone fire place by any means.
Heavy, simple, good price
September 13, 2012
It'll be a month or two before I actually use these since it's not yet fireplace season, but I'm impressed with this set so far. Mine arrived in the manufacturer's box, which was "blown out" on one end. All the parts were there, though. It's unlikely the parts would separate given the way they are wrapped/taped in plastic and bubble wrap inside. Assembly was easy - just two brackets with four screws each that hold the legs together. It even comes with a "disposable" wrench so you don't need any additional tools. I added felt feet on the bottom so the iron legs wouldn't scratch my floor. I ended up buying this set because I wanted something heavy and simple. My local fireplace dealer has a nice selection of tools, but they range from $100 to $500 and even higher. I refuse to pay that much for something like this. On the other hand, I didn't want something made out of thin, stamped metal tubing. Thankfully, this set is exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommended. I'll probably purchase another set or two as gifts.

Boght to place BBQ Charcoal ashes in
June 27, 2017
I bought this to put BBQ Charcoal ashes in so I could clean my grill while it was still hot. I often forgot to clean my grill till the next time I use it due to waiting till it was cool enough for me to clean out the ashes. I decided to get an ash bin that would be okay for hot ashes from my BBQ and this fits the bill perfectly. I can put hot ashes in it without worry. The can does get hot but since it sits on concrete and not near anything flammable, I am not worried. The lit is not as tight on mine as others have mentioned, it is perfect not too loose or too tight. This allows me to always put the grill away clean and cooled down easily.

February 24, 2017
Very good product. I use my wood burning fireplace insert as a main heating source and clean it once a week . The one week constant burning ash fills around 1/2 of this bucket. The insert helps to burn the wood completely so only ash is left. I also have a special "Ash vacuum cleaner" which I use for the remaining fine ash , that is remaining around and inside the fireplace after the "rough cleaning" with the scoop, that is included with this ash bucket.
Ash Bucket
September 23, 2016
This is very nice, when it first came it was a bit out of shape and the lid would not fit, hubby just pushed on it so the lid would easily go on and stay on. We love it, looks nice and keeps the ashes from blowing all over. I would not set it on a surface with hot coals in it that was not fire safe, we think that would just be for safety reasons.
Perfect for by my outdoor firepit - probably a bit large for by an indoor fireplace
February 9, 2016
This bucket is perfect to keep near our outdoor firepit to scoop out the ashes. It is large, so for an indoor fireplace might not suit your needs unless you have a large hearth, but on an outdoor patio it is great. We had been lifting up the whole pit to dump it and I was tired of ending up covered in ashes so I finally decided to get a bucket and shovel for the task. This one is well mad and has been holding up to the elements well. It does what it should (it's a bucket that holds things and the scoop scoops). The holder for the scoop works well and keeps the entire ensemble looking nice. Not much more to say about it other than I would happily buy this again to fulfill any bucket/scoop needs

November 26, 2015
This is an excellent tool to have when you have fireplaces and use them. It makes it very safe to clear out the ashes and not have to worry if any of the ashes are still hot and can cause a fire. I usually clear out the fireplace and leave the ashes in this bucket for 8 hours them place them in the trash. Very safe without being sorry.
Very pleased - save yourself a bit of cash on this model
February 14, 2011
My wife bought this for me for christmas. I've used it for a solid month and it easily took a full month's worth of ashes (and that's with almost 24/7 burning in a brand new wood burning stove) before I first had to empty it. But it's still relatively modest in size for the amount of ash it holds, it's attractive in a simplistic way, the wood handle grip feels nice, and the lid fits on fairly snugly (not airtight, but snug enough that it won't fall off without a solid hit under the lip). The shovel is a good size. The handle is NOT long, but that makes it more manueverable. The shovel could use a wood handle or something to prevent a hot hand from digging hot coals out, but that's a pretty minor nitpick and I've never actually had to drop the shovel...just came close once or twice when really working with hot coals.I definitely recommend this as a nice hearth ash bucket. Keep it outside on masonry after dumping hot ashes in it; it won't look out of place :)

Good quality, solid, a bit small for my fireplace (my fault)
January 22, 2016
Not quite as big as I thought I needed. Bottom is red as I think regular use has burnt the black topping off---not really a concern. Wide enough bottom screen for ashes to fall. I have a large fireplace and should have looked for a much larger grate (maybe 34" wide about 6" deep). I will say that it's nicely raised at 4" is a perfect height.I've built several fires and feel I've gotten my money's worth but I'll be looking for a larger grate in the future to replace this one.

Very good fireplace set
April 7, 2017
Way better than my last set. Solid construction of the pieces make them strong and easy to use. The finish has held up well after a season of daily use. The base is stable and holds all pieces nicely. Knocking off one star as the bristles on the broom are soft and mostly useless. My bristles were deformed from packaging and have not regained their shape. Still, I'm happy with the set and hope to get many seasons out of it.
I'm pretty satisfied with this item and the quality of it
January 14, 2017
I'm pretty satisfied with this item and the quality of it, especially for the price. I deducted one star because the bristles on the broom are not very good quality; they're a little too soft in my opinion and bend too easily, which is usually counterproductive to sweeping. Overall though, I'm pretty satisfied considering what I paid.

Product made in China rather than the US. Although they seem robust and durable, unknown how they will hold up in the elements next to our patio fireplace.
Uniflame Is Sturdy
February 16, 2016
The Uniflame unit arrived with some minor damage to the shovel. I pounded it back into shape with a ball peen hammer and painted it with black spray paint. The frame when together fairly well but the wrench that was included was really too large for the bolts. A 10 mm wrench did the trick. It looks nice and sturdy--should last several years.

April 3, 2015
This is a quality product with one flaw. The broom isn't worth beans. I will be replacing the broom part of the tool. However, the tools and stand are excellent quality. We heat our home with a woodstove so we use these tools many times every day. Love the tools, hate the broom.
Happy with fireplace tools.
December 26, 2014
A very nice set of fireplace tools. Feels sturdy and the selection of pieces will be useful. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the product. We went to put it together on Christmas morning and one of the legs had no hole in it. The other 3 legs had a hole towards the top, so they can be screwed together to make the stand. My husband will now have to drill a hole in the forth leg. I believe this was just a manufacturing mishap, but still it will be an extra chore to be done.

Bought this with fireirons and a log tote, happy with everything! Bucket is lightweight so easy to carry, lid fits well, shovel is sturdy enough to be useful. A good buy.
Works for my wood burning stove
January 29, 2016
For the price, this ash bucket works. I frankly wish that it were built of thicker gauge and were more dent resistant, but this is what you get nowadays. The spot riveted on shovel carrier is convenient, but it is possible to get the bail under the shovel, leading to a #^*+ it moment until you straighten it out. I am old enough to remember when all trash cans were galvanized steel and heavy duty. If I were running, say, a coal stove, that's what I would hold out for. For a fireplace or wood burning stove, this ash bucket will work.
Simple, sturdy, large-capacity ash bucket
November 17, 2013
I really needed a "real" ash bucket, since I make a lot of fires in my woodstove and the ash really builds up in there. I was tired of using my large stewing pots for ash! This bucket is nice and plain and sturdy (I was looking for both). It's not heavy (empty). The shovel that comes with it is convenient, and it's well-designed: the scoop is broad and has flat edges that makes it very easy to pick up a large volume of ash at once. The "holster" for the shovel is also really nice. The two things that are issues (albeit very minor ones) for me are its size (it's BIG - 13" dia at the top x 13" tall) and how the lid doesn't exactly lift off easily. If you have plenty of space on your hearth, go for it. If you have limited space, Measure first! Imagine a 13"x13" box sitting there. I'm not sure if the lid is support to have a "hitch" to it for safety reasons (ie, so that it can't tip over and spill hot ash out on your floor) or if I just managed to get a "hitchy" one. Arguably, it's going to be safer if the lid stays closed, but this lid has no particular safety closure (clasp, hook, etc). I don't have dogs or kids, so it's not an issue for me. Unless you're cramped for space, I highly endorse it!And of course... always empty your fireplace or stove when it's cool, and never assume there aren't any hidden hot coals in there!Hope this helps!

June 29, 2017
Nothing special about this grate. Mine arrived broken. What a hassle sending this heavy thing back.
well built, needs to be a bit larger.
March 24, 2016
Much heavier stock than the cheaper units, so I believe it will last longer. I like the added leg height. I wish it added another inch or two to the rear width - it measures only 16 inches and flared the front (currently about 19 inches) to 21 or 22 inches. Standard firewood is 16 inch length and often varies a few inches. Many logs will not fit into the "cradle" with these dimensions and the raised sides of the design make log turning very difficult, indeed, and the logs hang out over the sides. it would function much better if you could maintain 16 inch logs in the "cradle".
are already see will need to replace as not happy with the depth
November 15, 2015
had it for a few fires.. should of asked what the depth was as only 12 inches deep so add in the sides and about 10 inches deep really needs to be deeper for bigger logs.. two logs of any size barely fit... my last few 27 inch grates were 15 and 16 inches deep.. would shop around next time and not get this grate.. are already see will need to replace as not happy with the depth.. my own fault for not finding that out.

October 7, 2015
I think this is another metal (not iron) with a coating. The finish has flaked off as soon as I started putting it together, however still works well from a functional perspective.
Solid except for brush.

Received item in poor condition, chipped powder coating. Kudos to Amazon's return policy. Otherwise the item seemed to be of decent quality however I suspect the long term durability of the finish.

Good. Needed it.
Lid arrived damaged. Other components are fine
December 13, 2016
The lid came bent and doesn't sit flush with the bucket and takes a bit of maneuvering to get on as a result. Bucket itself is large and sturdy, shovel seems fine, but whether the result of poor packaging or poor craftsmanship, the lid came damaged.
More of a decoration
March 29, 2014
This is more of a decorative or accent piece than anything else. Extremely light weight some what like a cookie tin would be. Same for the shovel and lid, light weight. The lid does not lock down and if the bucket is accidentally knocked over (Murphy's Law) I fear that the contents would spill out. For the occasional user this might fit the bill but I am going for a sturdier galvanized pail with a locking lid to insure any hot coals are well contained. It may not be attractive but definitely a lot more practical.
Functional
February 6, 2014
The pail was slightly bent upon arrival. It didn't surprise me, however, because the metal is very thin and easily bendable. The shovel isn't very stout either. I guess I was expecting a slightly heavier gauge metal. Overall, I can use the pail for my ashes and it will probably last a awhile as long as I don't bump it into a wall or drop the shovel, but definetely not worth $35. Maybe a $10 bucket.
Decent ash bucket for the price
January 30, 2013
I'm pretty happy with this purchase. It does the job I use it for - removing spent ashes from my woodstove. Both the bucket and shovel are made from fairly thin metal, and the paint scrapes off a little too easily. I'm not sure why they painted the inside of the bucket, and what is the ribbon that comes with the shovel for? It seemed like a fire hazard to me, so I cut it off. There is no instruction sheet and there is very little written on the box other than "ash bucket" - I assume this is some kind of legal strategy? As others have indicated, this thing is probably bigger than it needs to be - I'd say about 3/4 the size of a 5-gallon bucket. On the positive side, the lid does fit pretty snug (although I doubt it would contain the ashes if it tipped over), and the pocket to store the shovel is handy. The shovel itself is a good size for my stove (a fireplace shovel is too awkward), and does a good job scooping out the ash. Note that I don't use the bucket to store hot coals, just ash, or 95% ash. I'm trying to avoid what another reviewer experienced - an overheated bucket smelling like burn paint.

Untra Heavy-Duty Fireplace Grate.
February 8, 2016
Very sturdy and heavy grate. Was too big and heavy for my fireplace. This is an ultra heavy-duty grate. You will only need for a substantial, larger fireplace. I think it should last many years.
It is not 15" deep as the description states. It is only 12" deep.
December 19, 2015
I bought the 27" grate (twice). Both were only 12" deep. If you want a 27" x 12" (x 4" high) fireplace grate, this one is for you. If you want a grate that is 27" x 15", keep looking. I gave it 2 stars because I really liked the feel and heft of the grate - it was just too small and didn't match the product description. I ordered a replacement for the first one, since it was possible that they sent the wrong one. After the second was also only 12", I moved on. I hope they either fix the description, or get the right grate.

Almost 5 stars... NOT
December 2, 2015
I received my Uniflame five piece fireplace set today. First of all I must say that visually at first glance without a lot of scrutiny this piece is very nice and simple in design. Construction is made of solid rock iron with a black coating to make it visually pleasing. The handles and feet are embossed with a simple decorative design. The stand comes flat in four individual pieces that is simply put together with eight screws. The tool to tighten these eight screws is included with this kit. Looking at the construction of this unit, I have no doubt that this will last for many years to come. However, that said, if you scrutinize the finish of this unit you will notice lots of dings and scratches from shipment. I have included photos of these blemishes in this review. With the naked eye these are actually very difficult to see and really only come out under camera flash. Since I am buying a set for actual use and not for display I do not mind the minor scratches sense the construction seems solid. That said, my biggest complaint is the broom is almost useless. The material used for the bristles is so soft it will barely move the ash left in the fireplace. Included in this review is a picture of the broom resting under its own weight with the bristles bend fully over. Given the price point of this unit, I have no choice but to knock them down to two stars. I will have no choice but to purchase a separate bristle broom in order to sweep out my fireplace.

Horrible quality! Pieces started breaking before being used. Unfortunately, I can't return because I can't find a box big enough to ship it back. Total waste of money. Will not order this type of item again that is too hard to ship back. You can see the broken pieces in the picture.

Nice and heavy but don't even bother! I tried to order this twice (always the optimist) but each time it arrives it's broken. Not worth the effort.

Missing pieces and broken. Total JUNK.

Arrived quickly, but junk. Broom was broken and the paint is chipped off. Broom was missing and screws to put it all together we're missing. Not even worth a one star rating. Worst Amazon purchase EVER.

IT came damaged. Shovel bent and the broom bristles were a mess. Also the handles were shorter than expected.
Solid entry level set of tools

NOT wrought iron. After 1 year the paint is all chipping and brush is half burnt. I could find a better set second hand.

I read all the reviews about the paint be chipped on the tools but decided to take my chances. What a mistake! When the tool set arrived, the tools were painted black and there were several chips and the paint also had cracked in a few spots . The silver metal was shining through in several areas. The end of the poker looked like it was broken with a rough silver edge on it. The broom handle was also loose on the broom. Returned it the next day!
This had to be sent back

My husband wanted a fireplace set, and I felt that wrought iron was the way to go. I couldn't have been more wrong. Upon opening this set, I was shocked to see that the paint was actually chipping off several of the tools. This looked like a used set even though it was brand new! Additionally, as far as functionality, the handles on each of the tools make them very awkward to hold and maneuver. I immediately contacted Amazon, and through great customer service, was able to send this back with no charge to myself. I would warn that this set is of subpar quality, and I would avoid purchasing at all costs.

First 2 received were smashed in. Very cheaply made as others stated. Shop around on this one

this is a cheaply made item that should never be trusted with potentially live embers.

Crap. It was delivered damaged. It's paper thin. I plan on returning it right away. Don't buy this product.
Low quality for the price
December 17, 2015
This product was damaged both times I ordered it. The material it is made of is light which can be a good thing if you have a lot of ash in it, but it dents very easily, and the lid was warped. I finally bought a different product after 2 failed attemps.
