Amazing customer service
August 15, 2017
I have had this compressor for over 2 years and it has served me well doing the jobs I purchased it for. It is good value for the money. Recently I developed a couple of issues with the unit which was rendering it almost unusable. I called Kensun customer support and even though I was unable to provide purchase details they were able to look it up and I was out of warranty. After I inquired about any repair service availablilit ythe customer service representative offered to replace the unit for me even though it was out of warranty. Amazing customer service from finding my purchase with just mailing address to the offer to replace. I will look for Kensun products in the future for sure.

I have only used this item x 1 since I received it. I added 5 pounds air to each of 2 minivan tires using the AC110V plug. It took no more than 1 minute to pump in the air to the proper tire inflation. In the past I used a manual tire pump which took about 5 -10 minutes per tire to pump the same amount of air into each tire . The gauge on the Kensun air compressor indicated when the desired tire pressure was reached The pressure gauge on the Kensun air compressor gave me the same readings as my manual tire pressure gauge. The Kensun air compressor also comes with on/off switches for the DC 12V and AC 110V depending on which power source is used to power the Kensun air compressor. It also comes with:1. a 4.0m cord with AC 110V plug2. a 3.0m cord with DC 110V cigarette plug3.DC 12V socket4. a 1A fuse for AC 110V5. AC 110 V socket6. adapters for car tires, balls ,inflatables, PVC boats7. a carrying case Kensun customer service emailed me shortly after I received my air compressor. They wanted to know if everything was ok with my order and to contact them with any questions or concerns. As it turned out one of the plastic components of the DC cigarette plug that had been shipped with the Kensun air compressor had been broken into multiple pieces. I emailed Kensun about this with attached photos of the broken DC cigarette plug. Kensun emailed me back and stated that they had already sent me a replacement DC plug. I had not requested a replacement in my email to them. Kensun did so on its own volition. I also noted that the Kensun air compressor and accessories were extremely well packaged for shipping with lots of padding. As I said earlier, I have only used this compressor X 1. At this point in my ownership of this product, I would have to give 5 stars to Kensun air compressor and Kensun customer service.
Great Features & Easy to Use

Filling Station Pumps are harder than ever to find, often broken and always cost money. Enter Kensun - this product has a ton of of features:1) In includes the adapters to power it from your CAR or your HOME.2) Included Gauge is easy to use and read and accurate enough to be safe.3) A person who has never a powered inflator will understand it 1st try.4) The included adapters will help you with your sports or pool equipment.5) It is small and includes a good quality soft storage case which makes it easy to stow away (i.e. trunk) and is worth its weight in Gold when you need it!6) I had a problem on the first unit that was shipped - but this seller contacted me back and fixed my problem immediately and helped me BEYOND what I expected. Credit card points, being busy and being a person who loves shopping that consists of finding the lowest cost products neatly stacked at my front door makes me shop Amazon heavily. This seller/product's item and customer support grades A+ as compared to the hundreds of products I receive via Amazon Fulfillment annually.RECOMMEDED

Needed to put air in my tires. When we had a bit of a cold snap the Low Tire Pressure light lit up on my car's dash. Tried using the coin operated air compressor at the gas station to inflate the tires, but that didn't work. I decide to check out tire inflator air compressors here on Amazon. After checking out many models available I decided to purchase this one. I like that it can be used with a regular home outlet and with the 12v car plug. Also liked that it looked like it was solidly built, based on the photos and the other reviews on here. Also liked that it can be used for bike tires. It came in a black storage bag, and included the 110 v home wire and the 12 V car plug. Has a separate on/off switch for each power source. Also came with other attachments to fill up balls and other inflatables. Directions are minimal, printed on a small piece of paper. Don't know much about cars or specs on tires or air compressors so i just wanted something that would be easy to use and decent value.Basically, after checking the tire pressure needed, I lugged the unit in and connected it to the tire. Turned it on and noticed a few things. It's rather loud. It vibrates a lot so that when you're looking at the gauge the needle vibrates as well. . Topped off the tires in a few minutes and used a tire pressure gauge to check the tire pressure. Was a good deal for the price. Handy to have in the car when needed.
A quality piece of equipment!
October 9, 2015
Believe it or not this is the first air compressor I have ever purchased! I always have done it the 'hard way' & pumped up all of my bicycle tires with an ordinary hand pump. A friend saw me struggling away & recommended the Kensun D1002 AC (Home 110 V & 12 V car.)This piece of equipment is very easy to use with a very accurate & easy to read gauge, an easy to attach pump hose, & a power cord that is certainly long enough to make most job's accessible. I only wish I would have purchased this a number of years ago & I would have saved myself a lot of hard work!

I now own 2 different models. 1 is AC/DC and the other is DC only. They are both excellent products. Both have a solid weight to them so when in use they don't vibrate around. Both have excellent connectors. Both units pump air extremely well. Both units are reasonably quiet. The DC unit comes with a light and a programmable tire pressure gauge. Another outstanding feature to mention about Kensun is their customer service. Here is a pic of the 12v unit. Hope this helps.

Very pleased
May 10, 2017
Honestly, it looks like a cheap toy and when it arrived I almost returned it. But I never got around to it and decided just to put it in the trunk of my wife's car. In 6 months time, this unit has bailed me out three times and twice now I've given assistance to others with flat tires. It works very well. It's small and easy to stow, the cord that attaches to the cigarette plug is long enough to reach all my tires, and it fills a tire from flat to full psi in a surprisingly short amount of time. It's not fast, but I was impressed considering it's size. The built in tire pressure measurement is accurate and the flashlight feature is an added plus.
A must-have trunk item!
November 11, 2016
First of all, I am not an automotive expert, but I feel that everyone should keep one of these in their trunk. I have used the same tire inflator for years. One day I needed to pump a bike tire, and in the process left it sitting in the garage. Later that night, unbeknownst to my own memory, I ran over it. Plastic pieces flew everywhere! My heart dropped, and with sadness I knew I'd ruined my tire inflator. Because I am a person of habit, I tried my best to find an exact replacement but was unsuccessful. Instead, I found this gem. In the first day of owning it, I had to pump up a car tire due to a slow leak. This one is infinitely better than my previous inflator. Despite my sadness at the loss of my previous inflator, I am THRILLED with this one. I would have run over my other one years ago had I known this would be my next one.

Favorite features: PSI auto-limit, flashlight.

ABSOLUTE LIFE SAVER!!!!
Ok, I don't usually say this, but if you are a human being and own or lease or use a wheeled motor vehicle then I don't understand why you don't have this inside your vehicle.
We live in times where the street can be really rough, and thanks to global warming a lot of climatic changes, which directly affects the pressure on your tires. You can't even trust people at gas stations to pump your tires to your needed capacity, or even the inaccurate inflator readers they have in there. Don't think twice, it's alright mama, this is an absolute bang for the buck. It will last for years and help you in the most desperate situations, when on a trip, on the freeway or at home if you want to extend the lifespan of your tires you need to keep them at the optimal air pressure all the time, and check them regularly (I do mine twice a month).
It is even equipped with a flashlight in case of darkness.
This little toy will pump your tires in just minutes and save you from the worst emergencies. Just imagine you need to use the spare tire but it has no air pressure for being stored for years in the back of your car. I am not joking get this tool now before you are caught unprepared.
Great little pump
July 29, 2015
Great little pump. The Slime 40022 12 volt digital tire inflator is a mighty little machine. After doing a lot of research I settled on this pump and I am glad I did. It has a digital readout of the tires current psi and you can set the desired psi you would like your tires to inflate to.

The pump is very easy to use and I have had no problems with it thus far. The added led light is a nice feature for night use. The machine does get pretty warm after using for about 10 minutes or so. It was able to put about 10 pounds of air in my tire which was going flat in about 5 minutes. The screw on valve is nice because my time do not allow me to use the other kind of attachment found on similar pumps.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a small portable air pump.
Perfect
September 5, 2013
I have owned half a dozen tire inflators through the years. I prefer the auto-stop units but they are in the minority, most have analog dials and flip type clamp tire valve connectors.

Pros:
1. Auto-stop works - It stops exactly at the pre-set pressure

2. Gauge accurate - The digital gauge is within 0.5 psi of a handheld gauge.

3. It is NOT loud - Many of the reviews claim this unit is loud. Well loud is a relative term. Compared to what is it loud? It is actually about 80% as loud as my other units of various brands so overall, it's quite quiet. ALL portable tire inflators that I've heard are loud. The Slime is actually quieter than the average 12v unit.

4. Has a lighted display - I was very surprised when I plugged it up that a bright green light lit up the display. NONE of my other tire inflators are backlit. If you are not in bright light, then you must shine a flashlight or cell phone light on the display to see it in dark or dim light. You can easily read the Slime in total darkness. This is a super plus if you ever had a flat at night.

5. The screw-on was not as bad as I thought. All of my other units have the quick connect flip-type tire valve connectors. They are very quick to connect and disconnect and I thought the screw-on would be much slower and a big disadvantage. I could almost connect and disconnect the Slime as quickly and easily as the flip-type. Some of the other reviews stated that the flip-type won't work on some smaller clearance valve stems. I am perfectly happy with these screw valve connectors.

6. Big cord compartment - With some of the other inflators it is almost impossible to get the 12v cord and air hose back into the storage compartment. With the Slime it is fairly easy.

7. Inexpensive - I actually bought 5 of the Slime inflators, one for each of my household's cars. The price is very reasonable compared to others and this one is far better than any I've ever owned at any price.

8. Low vibration - The other units have a tendency to vibrate heavily and dance around on the floor as the tire is inflated. The Slime seemed to dance less than other units.

Cons
1. Instructions are not intuitive - I actually printed labels and stuck on each unit so that no matter who used it they can easily operate it. Slime needs to put a label with instructions on each unit but to be fair, not of the other units have instructions on them either.

These are the instructions: 1. Screw on tire valve 2. Plug in 3. Hold + or - for 5 sec until flashes 4. Set desired pressure 5. Push ON 6. Reads current tire pressure then auto stops at preset 7. Push off/on for next tire

2. One of the buttons is labeled "M". There is no indication in the manual what the M button is for but it switches the readout between PSI and Bar units.

3. Larger than some units. I have a motorcycle and this unit is too large to fit easily in the bike storage compartment. It is not large to carry in a car but for motorcycles it is rather large. It is smaller than most 12v tire inflators but there are units about half this size if space is a problem. Slime makes a motorcycle inflator here: http://amzn.com/B000ET9SB4 If it's going in a car, van or truck, this is the one that you want.

Overall I am super impressed with this unit, that's why I bought five of them.

Quality Control Issue?
August 13, 2017
I've had this mini air compressor for about a year. I had purchased the same model previously and really thought it was a excellent product. Back to the latest unit. About 6 months ago, the ac plug in the unit developed a short. Therefore, anytime I used the unit I had to physically hold the ac plug just right to inflate a tire. Okay, not fun but effective. However, this past Sunday I attempted to inflate/top off my motorcycle tire as it was about 5 pounds low. Halfway through the process, the compressor started smoking and quit. That was all she wrote for this unit.

In defense of Kensun, my original unit still works without any issues. I can only suggest that Kensun might want to review their quality control process because the 2nd compressor was a dud.

UPDATE!! KENSUN sent me a replacement unit FREE OF CHARGE! I've added 2 stars to my previous rating. Will update later when I've had a chance to use.
Worked for 1 tire
June 27, 2016
Well I thought this unit would at least last longer than the time it took to inflate one tire on my wife's car. After that, the unit began to smoke, made a loud popping sound, and stopped working completely. I'm returning it this week.

UPDATE. After reading my review a representative from Kensun reached out to me and offered to send me a better compressor for my trouble. I can't say enough about their customer service. I used it to inflate a couple of kiddie beach toys and a tow tube and it seemed to work fine. Much better than the first one I was sent.
I don't want to continue using it since the motor sounds like it's going to explode

UPDATE: 07/04/2016
Contacted the Kensun Customer Care dept. and explained the issue I was having with the air compressor. They will ship a new replacement unit at no charge. Have not received the unit yet but will update the review stars now to 4 stars (from 2 stars). The unit worked as advertised before it broke after 4 uses. I probably got a defective unit which they will replace. I give the Kensun company 5 stars for their excellent customer service.

Buyer beware!! This Kensun air compressor broke after using it only 4 times. Now the unit shakes and vibrates violently and the dial gauge popped out of its socket. I don't want to continue using it since the motor sounds like it's going to explode. I purchased this in March 2016 and I am not able to return this item to Amazon since the return policy for this has expired. I should have purchased the other air compressor from a different manufacturer that was selling at a higher price.
Tough little monster !
July 4, 2015
This is a very cool device that saves you a lot of hassle. I was always struggling to reset my vehicles' tire pressure at gas stations with those ugly age old pressure monitors attached to the Air stations. Inaccurate readings, inability to reach the spare below SUVs and constant hunt for quarters were some of my issues. I finally researched online and got this compressor. I now use this to top up air in my car tires in the comfort of my home, inflate sport equipments and it works pretty well. I settled for this as against the Slime 40022 because that had a digital gauge and there were some reviews on the readings not being accurate. This one has an analog meter which is pretty accurate (not down to the decimal). This is a 12V compressor which means it wont blow the fuse of smaller cars and SUVs (be careful to check what your car can support before you buy this or the bigger 15V varieties also on amazon). In terms of time, it took me about 10 minutes to inflate a dead spare from 10 psi to about 60 psi. I gave it a break in between just to ensure it does not get overheated. So if all is well, why did I take away a star? Some areas of improvement: 1. the screw on nozzle does cause very little air to leak out as you're screwing it on/off the tire. A clip-on version would be my preference. Sometimes the screw threads also need a little nudge before they agree to come off. 2. The length of the inflate tube on the compressor should be a little longer. I had to set the compressor on a little stool for nozzles that were to the top of wheel when parked. The length of the electrical cable is manageable even though a slightly longer one would have been ideal. 3. The weight of the compressor is too light and it has to be held down while it's doing its thing else it keeps vibrating and wobbling on the floor.
All these are minor issues but overall I am very pleased with the purchase and this works well for what it is supposed to do - INFLATE !
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
January 6, 2015
Bought the item in November but used it for the first time a few days ago. I was probably just into 15 seconds reinflating my medicine ball when the pump thumblock broke at the neck where it's connected to the air hose. The connection is made of plastic and just snapped when I applied a little pressure to keep the thumblock in place. Returning it for a refund.

===============REVIEW UPDATE: 1/12/15 ========================

I am upgrading my earlier One-Star rating to Four-Star for Kensun's EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!

A bit of history about this order.. I was actually looking for a unit with AC/DC power option and auto shutoff mechanism. I thought this item had both functionalities but it turned out the unit does not have auto shutoff mechanism. As early as Nov 18 (I received the unit in Nov 16), Kensun already offered to refund because they don't have any model with both functionalities I was looking for. However, I got side-tracked with all the holiday activities and forgot to request a refund until January when the unit broke after I used it for the first time.

I first tried processing a refund with Amazon's online return/replacement system but the system declined the request because the allowable return date has expired. Nevertheless, Kensun offered to replace the broken unit with a new one without me having to return the original back. In addition, Kensun offered a different model with digital gauge with auto shutoff function and worklight, ALL FOR FREE! With all that, Kensun still offers FULL REFUND if I am not satisfied!

Both the replacement unit and the new model arrived a couple of days ago. NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I have tested both units. Both units are working but the one with digital gauge auto shutoff function is much more powerful. It was able to pump in 5 PSI (from 27 to 32 PSI) in about 50 seconds with the body still cool to touch. The replacement model (without digital gauge shut off function) took 3 minutes to pump in 5 PSI with the body starting to get warm. I noticed with the digital gauge shutoff function that it has to be set at 2 PSI above the target PSI to attain the desired pressure. For instance, to get to my target 32 PSI, I found I have to set the digital gauge at 34 PSI. Once the digital gauge reads 34 PSI, it continues pumping for a few more seconds before it totally shuts off. Both units are not "quite operation" by any stretch of imagination but I can live with that.

I am keeping the replacement Kensun AC/DC Tire Inflator for home use since it has AC power option. On the road, I am bringing the model with Digital Gauge Auto Shutoff function since it's more powerful plus it comes with built-in worklight.

I don't know how both units will perform if tested with more prolonged use but for now I am a very satisfied customer.

For reference, I've tested the units with size 215/70R16 tires on my RAV 4.

Good but not perfect
December 29, 2016
This thing works but has its pros and cons

Pros: small size that stores easily in your car, built in tire gauge and can preset to shut off at a specific air pressure (though see below). Overall Handy way to get air in your tires wherever u are hence the 4 stars
Cons: screw on nozzle can be a pain, but with practice u won't leak all the air out of the tire when u remove it. Biggest con is the air pressure gauge is accurate before filling, but registers too high after u fill. The work around is setting the targeted air pressure about 2 pounds higher than the goal (for example if you want your tires at 35 psi, set this to shut offf at 37 psi). This seems to be just right. I recommend using a separate tire gauge (they are cheap) to verify this when u first start using this.

So not perfect, but effective, small and handy. Because it's powered off the car, U can use it in your garage,at a parking lot, wherever. I recommend it!
Like the live readout
July 25, 2016
The auto-stop feature literally worked for once, the first time. Have not been able to stop by itself ever since. Like the live readout, pretty useful, may not be accurate though, but still, even a in the ball-park figure is better than nothing.

Edit:
My bad. The auto-stop feature works fine. It is confusing because it won't stop the instant it hits the target but would rather keep inflating a little bit more before stopping. I guess it's more accurate this way but confuses the user when the readout clearly shows target reached but it keeps pumping away.
Works great
October 26, 2015
I have used this twice to adjust the air pressure in my car's tires twice now and it really does the job quite quickly. The only thing I don't like about it is that you have to screw the air hose on to the tire valve because it lets out air in the process of un-screwing it. So I adjust the PSI to 36 instead of 35. I've also had to re-adjust the cigarette lighter adapter position a few times to get it to work right.
TREAT YOURSELF to this handy little device!
April 17, 2015
Worked just like I had expected. In future I hope to give it 5-stars if I find out it lasts more than half a year, and, works every time. We will see.

It is lightweight plastic, but, that also means that anyone can pick it up and use it, including anyone physically frail. Tonight I finished my 4-tires in driveway at home in less than 10-min.

FYI - Instructions are ultra simple, and after you set the PSI level you desire, it actually will show you the PSI your tire is currently at (at first i thought it was not working, as it did not keep the 32 PSI i entered, but that was cause my a couple tires were actually over-inflated before I even turned on the machine -- so, with the device's screw half on/half off, it allowed me to deflate down to the appropriate PSI instead of inflating at all-- very cool (and I could not have done that with the gas station type pump). I also had pre-tested each tire level after that with the hand held tire checker, and it was identical to the digital readout on machine.

What is extra nice is the built-in lamp for night time use (lamp on-button will only work when plugged in, but that is why it is lightweight as has no batteries).

As for the noise -- FAR LESS NOISY THAN A VACUUM CLEANER, and WAY LESS NOISY THAN THE GAS STATION TIRE PUMP MACHINE. So, I figure that makes it super reasonable on sound. And, like other reviewer said, I would not use it while any neighbor's are sleeping, as that is just being rude. But, in an emergency or if you have to go, it is not the worst sound in the world. Besides, you can only keep it running 10-min at a time -- and then you have to let it cool for 25-min before re-starting.

I imagine one only needs more than ten minutes if tires are almost flat. A couple of mine were down to 20, and in literally 2-4 minutes, they were up to 32.

Purchasing this little device will make my life simpler and save me the annoyance of having to find quarters, good parking angle, and coordination of the long pump at a gas station. I plan to keep it in my trunk and perk up my tires anytime I am concerned.

ENJOY the convenience, as for $25, one really cannot complain much. It is what it is, and ought to work fine. It is not like the ave person inflates their tires daily, so, I imagine it will last me all year, and hopefully beyond.

What a treat to do my own tires at home effortlessly! And, having this handy chertainly could prevent an emergency allowing one to get to a mechanic before things get too far and one's rim is ruined!
Gets the Job Done, Inexpensive, Loud
November 5, 2011
I investigated a number of similar products on Amazon, other web merchants and on the Manufacturer's websites. As a result I decided I was seeking a couple specific things.

My Desires
o Low Cost
o Screw on Valve Attachment. My rims don't leave enough room for the larger sleeve that surrounds the clip-on type hose attachments found on many pumps.
o Automatic Shutoff. I've got better things to do that watch a needle move.

Pros
+ Inexpensive. Disregarding a few slightly less expensive generic no-name products with poor reviews, the products I found that had the features I wanted were often two times the price or more.
+ Screw on Valve Attachment. This takes less room and so will be compatible with a greater variety of tire rims.
+ Digital Pressure Gauge. An LCD display shows the current pressure in PSI of your tire. It seems sufficiently accurate, reading always within 2 PSI of a fairly decent quality manual gauge that I have.
+ Automatic Shutoff. Set the desired tire pressure, activate the device and it will shut off when that target is hit so that you don't have to baby the device while it huffs and puffs your tires up.

Cons
- Loud. I use this in my closed garage. It seems as loud as when I use my power miter saw to cut 2x4 lumber. It seems that this is simply a light device with a basic light plastic case so it vibrates and wiggles and dances on the floor as it does its job. But the job gets done.
- Not fast. But fast enough for most. Expect to spend 2-4 minutes per tire depending on how fast your are connecting and disconnecting and how low your tires are. I spend about a minute per tire at the gas station pump.

Tips
! Don't inflate your car tires to the pressure listed on the side wall of the tire itself. The proper inflation pressure is listed on your car's door panel. Open your driver side door and you will find a sticker/plate on the part of the door jam that is covered when the door is closed. This will tell you the correct tire pressure for your car. It will always be lower than what you find on the tire and if you inflate to the tire's maximum you may wind up with a harsh bumpy ride and decreased traction.
! If your are inflating your tires while cold (not having driven for 10 or more minutes) then you should inflate to the listed pressure. If your are inflating warm tires the pressure will read higher, commonly 3-4 PSI higher than when cold. So, if you just finished driving add 3-4 PSI to your target pressure. For example, if your car lists a rear tire pressure of 32 PSI, inflate them to 35-36 PSI when warm.

This to me is just incredibly painful. Other than that
November 16, 2016
I bought this product to store in the trunk for times when I need to fill up my car tires. I've had two other compressors in the past that have worked quite well albeit being very inexpensive. While this product itself is a fair price and includes a lot of additional accessories to complement the package, there are just a few things that are issues for me.Firstly, the compressor is incredibly loud. Your neighbors will definitely hear this and wonder what you're doing. This wouldn't be that big of a deal if it didn't take forever to fill up the tire. Over the past 3 months of owning the product, it has taken me nearly 30-45 minutes to fill up 4 tires with about 10 PSI each after multiple uses. This to me is just incredibly painful. Other than that, never had any problems with any of the cords and the air pressure gauge has always been accurate.Unfortunately, my time is precious to me so I will continue my search for a faster compressor. 3 stars for being functional.
It Works But Slowly and is Very Loud
September 23, 2016
The product works, but it is very slow. Adding just 2 pounds of air to a tire takes quite a lot of time. The unit is super loud too and not in a good way. Ear plugs are actually highly recommended if you are going to be near this thing when it is on. I have not used the cigarette lighter power option, only the standard power cord. The air pressure gauge is not very accurate, you will need to check with a separate gauge. The connector itself is fine, never had any problems with it not engaging or coming off while the unit was on. It does indeed get the job done, but it doesn't give off a high quality impression in any way.I struggled with whether to give this a 2 star rating or a 3 star rating (I would probably give it 2 1/2 stars if that was an option). I amended my review to give it 3 starts since it does work in terms of getting air into the tires, but the downsides are how long it takes and the very loud and annoying noise it makes while doing so.I just don't know how this unit would compare to other models of similar design and cost.
Good customer service
May 25, 2016
I used this product to fill a lawn tractor tire. It took quite a while to fill the tire, but it did eventually complete that job. Four days later I tried to use it on a car tire that was low. The unit would not work at all. Apparently the fuse is blown. If so, I don't know what kind of fuse I need to replace it. I guess I'll take it to an auto parts store and see if they can determine what kind of fuse to buy. No instructions or manual came with the unit. If you want to spend $40 for a one time use, then this is the product for you.UPDATE: I contacted the manufacturer to report the unit failure. They immediately offered to send me a new one. Was told there is a two-year warranty. I would give their customer service 5 stars.

March 12, 2016
Update Mar 15/2016 - Still giving 1 star for product, but 5 stars for customer service. I was contacted the day after my review and was told to pick a new air compressor (any model, not just the one I ordered) and the would send it out - no charge for the compressor and no charge for shipping.

I bought this January 2015 and used it 6 or 7 times in 2015.

The last time I used it (October 2015), it was to pump up a couple low tires on my vehicle. It overheated on the first tire, but after 30 minutes it was ready to go again. It overheated on the second tire, but by the that time the tire had reached pressure it needed to be. I pulled it today to pump up a couple bike tires, but it still doesn't work.

Very unimpressed with this pump. I recommend looking at a pump made by another manufacturer than Kensun.
It didn't work right out of the box...UPDATED 1/7/16
January 2, 2016
Shortly after receiving the Kensun YS-205 air compressor, my husband and I needed to use it to fill a tire on a dolly and a wheelbarrow. When we plugged it in and turned it on, nothing happened. We thought maybe it was the power outlet so we tried a different outlet...still nothing happened when we turned it on. After questioning the electricity in our house, we tried using the plug provided for the car. The YS-205 worked when plugged into the car, but we could tell it wasn't working well. It was taking much too long to fill a small tire. Two other points - I thought it was interesting that we received an email from the seller about the product checking on our satisfaction with the product and to contact customer service with any issues. It was almost as if they knew the product was defective. Second point, their customer service was good. They refunded me right away and did not ask us to mail back the air compressor. It went in the trash. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this product. I was surprised and disappointed after reading so many positive reviews about the product.UPDATE: 1/7/16 I received exemplary customer service from Kensun. Joe, a department manager made it a point to connect with me regarding the faulty product. He tried to connect with me via phone and also via email. Here's what he had to say:I am terribly sorry that you had trouble with our product. Please accept our sincerest apologies. We consider product reviews as opportunities to improve our product and service. I would like to help you resolve the issue you are facing. I have taken the liberty in sending you something without confirming it with you first, (I did try and call a few times) I hope you don't mind. I have sent an upgraded model. Obviously this is completely free of charge. I have included a special adaptor which will allow you to plug it in from a home outlet too. I would also like to touch upon a small point mentioned in your review. You mentioned you received an email from us asking about your satisfaction, and you understood from that, it's almost as if we knew it was defective. I would like to point out, every customer receives that email no matter what they order from us. We try to go the extra mile for our customers and usually it is appreciated. I hope that clears it up. We at Kensun stay with our customers and want them to be happy with us and the products. The customer service received from Kensun is exemplary. Joe went the extra mile to ensure I was happy. Very few companies do this, usually it's the consumers fault or problem. Anyway, I while I haven't tried the new compressor yet, I'm sure if I have any trouble with it, Kensun will make it right!

big power in a little package
May 29, 2017
works well. is loud and vibrates badly but does fill tires as advertised. I have used it 3 times now and it has filled my car tires up to the PSI levels I requested in a reasonable time. It beat going to the gas station to get the tire filled and takes the guess work out of knowing how much air you have put in the tire. However, it claims to stop when it reaches the level you set it for but it's not stop for me. I do still think it is a good for the money and time you save
must manually start and stop at the desired pressure
August 1, 2016
the compressor works, but I too am having problems with it using the automatic feature. Once I select the pressure, it will not turn on and compress air on its own. I have to simply use it manually and turn it off when it reaches the desired pressure.
Ehhh better then water in your tires from gas stations
September 5, 2015
Feels cheap and the auto pressure shut off doesnt work too well. Once the auto pressure shuts off, you have to push the inflate button another 3 to 5 times to get the pressure you want. The the input hose that you screw into your valve stem is made out of what feels and looks like brittle cheap plastic, so make sure you don't break it
Mixed emotions
April 12, 2015
It worked ok. I got this when it was still ridiculously cold and my tires were going winter-flat. I didn't want to stand out in the cold filling them, so when I got this I went about filling my tires in my garage. It took probably 30 minutes to get 2 of my tires filled up, and they were only a few PSI low. When I got to the 3rd tire, I noticed the that I was losing pressure. At some point, the valve stem pin broke. I'm not an idiot, or a spaz, I even know how to change a valve stem myself, so I'm fairly certain I didn't break it just by putting the inflator on and that tire in particular tire was less than a year old. Now that tire is brand new again. The inflator got super hot, which I expected. I had my car running while it was filling, but even so my battery was dead the next morning, and the battery also isn't even 2 years old. It was ok after a jump, but be mindful if you have an older battery in your car. I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee, so it's a big car, I like that the cords were long enough so that the machine could sit flat on the floor.
It's not a bad machine, I still have it in the trunk of my new car in case of an emergency. Just don't fill more that one tire at a time and be super, super careful twisting it on the valve stem.
Automatic Shutoff Doesn't Work
March 25, 2014
This unit works pretty well. I like the digital readout, which appeared accurate compared to my standalone digital tire gauge and my standard tire gauge. I also like the twist connect air hose. Very little air escaped while twisting on/off. Seems like this is a better connector than the normal elbow bracket kind.

Where this particular unit fails is the automatic shutoff feature. I followed the instructions, setting the desired pressure, waiting for the actual pressure to display, then turning on the unit. It filled the tire pretty quickly, but kept running after the desired pressure was reached. The pressure did not continue to rise, which was a good sign, but it still not shut off as its supposed to.

I'm sending this back and waiting to get a replacement. Hopefully the next unit will power off on cue. I'll update this review after I get to test it out.

One and done?.??!
September 5, 2016
OK.... first use was fine (VERY noisy, but fine). I spent approximately 4 minutes inflating two bike tires... great. Now on to test #2, inflating a child's swimming pool... NOT fine. After 15 minutes of use (and barely any sign that there was air in the pool), the compressor shut off and now it will not start again. I removed the fuse and visited two hardware stores, only to find they do not stock that size. Next stop will be Home Depot, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. I just e-mailed Kensun for information, because I still don't know if I simply blew the glass fuse OR blew out the entire motor. Updates to follow.UPDATE: 9/7/16: Received 2 e-mails and a phone call from Kensun offering a free replacement to a better model air compressor. As this is similar to the messages others on here have received, I pondered it for a while, but opted to just return the unit instead. I don't want to go through the hassle of shipping back and forth.
Not even worth the sale price.
July 30, 2016
I noticed today, when looking for something to replace this item with, that it's now dramatically reduced from the price I paid. I'm not surprised; it was a total waste of money. I bought it to add air to my tires at home when the TPM warnings light up. A few psi will do it so I mistakenly thought, based in part on previous reviews, that this machine would do the job. The first time I used it, it did; sort of. It smoked like crazy, but it pumped air. I had an e-mail conversation with the manufacturer and they suggested it could be dust burning off on first use - hmm?? I kept it and used it for the second time today. Part-way through the job of topping up the tires to satisfy the TP monitor, it started smoking then shut down completely. Left it sit to cool off but it's dead.Addendum, 24 hours later: The Kensun customer relations folks are certainly on the ball. I've received an e-mail and a voice message offering me a different (more expensive??) model at no cost. Often, how a company responds to complaints can offset a poor experience. I'm impressed by their efforts and have added an extra star to the rating in recognition. DS
I Had Hoped For More
January 26, 2016
When my cheap, plastic Campbell Hausfeld unit from Walmart died, I thought it was time to get a better piece of equipment and selected this after looking at reviews. The unit works, but it is both louder and slower than what I had before. I had hoped for much more. The unit does not have automatic shutoff. The range on the pressure gauge is too high (up to 260 psi). This makes it very hard to see the difference between 25 and 30 psi. If the gauge only went to 100 psi, it would be much easier to read ... especially considering that the indicator needle vibrates over about a 10 psi range (which the gauge on my old cheap compressor did not do). I believe that these are made in China, and when I first opened the box there was a very strong solvent smell. The company has been sending me emails that say if there is any problem, they want to make it right. I appreciate their effort. My unit works, it's just not that good for what it costs.
NOT IMPRESSED!
January 18, 2016
Very disappointed. Purchased it to keep car tires properly inflated; for a car tire, this is NOT the best choice. First problem, the inflation rate is far too slow for any automotive tire. At first I thought the unit was not working; it made such a loud rattling noise while running and the featured psi gauge wasn't rising. Eventually I concluded it simply took a very long while to increase tire pressure, far longer than what I was accustomed to using other units. After increasing pressure by 5psi in all four car tires, I could see slight smoke coming from the unit. Second problem, the featured pressure gauge is not scaled well to read pressure from 0-40psi; the markings are too close together. Beyond 40psi, the scale is enlarged for better viewing making this gauge useful for reading higher psi, such as for a bicycle tire, but not for reading the psi range of a car tire. In summary, consider this unit if you only need to inflate bicycle tires or perhaps other small items. The fact that it plugs into household current is nice and I like the way it clips to the valve stem on the tire. But purchase something else to inflate car tires.
Stand by their Product
January 17, 2016
These people stand behind their product. Well made durable compressor. Not super fast but can inflate large tires if you have the patience. 12v or 110v is a very nice option. No auto stop. But, I had a hose come off. Instead of asking me to send it in or try to fix it, they just sent me a new one free, no postage, no questions asked!!!!Now, I have to revise my rating. The same thing happened with the replacement compressor as with the first one. The inflator hose came off in side the unit. I tried taking it apart to fix it but not made to be repaired. Also it overheated and stopped working more and more often. But without the inflation hose, it's useless.Good design..poor quality
Loud, slow, but works.
December 30, 2015
Bought this to keep it in the trunk for emergencies and because most gas stations are a pain to actually use their air pumps, that is if they're actually working.Docked a star because yes, it is loud. I read some guy said its not. Maybe he's hard of hearing. Do not use this at night or in enclosed spaces. Also its slow using DC power. They recommend having the car running but even then its pretty damn slow. I'd say its about 1-2PSI per minute. It took me about 5 minutes to get from 20-25psi on a Corolla with OEM tires. But, having the convenience of not having to deal with gas stations earns 4 stars from me.*EDIT*After a few months of living with this, I cant recommend this product anymore. The fill-up times are absurdly slow, I had a nearly flat tire and had to pump at it for 30 minutes to even get it near drivable conditions. I left it at 2-stars because if you were completely lost in the middle of nowhere, sure you could probably get your tire filled up eventually but it'll take so long you could've probably walked over to the nearest town and back.

Not very reliable
February 23, 2017
it was working fine for a while but then digital gauge got messed up and stopped working and made this product useless. I have to set it up to 45 or 50 psi to pump 35 psi air to my tires. Sometimes this trick does not work either, it just stops pumping air completely and I have to try different things to get it working again. last time it took me 15 min to pump air to my bicycle's tire, go figure... Now i have to buy a new air pump since this product is not reliable anymore...
The same reason I never liked the screw on types
January 4, 2017
The same reason I never liked the screw on types. My tire was half flat before I got this thing unscrewed. It lets out air as you try and put it on, and I can't screw it on quickly enough.

So I took it off as quickly as I could. Got the old portable inflator out and did it the right way. The type that you push on with the lever.

Adding this. I bought a Sears Diehard portable battery/compressor/car starter back in 2007. Still works 100% and that's how I inflated the tires today. Took about 5 minutes each for 5-8 psi add. The bad part is having to stay there and look at the gauge, and it's a lot heavier. That's why I bought this little thing. Sadly, it will never work for me.

When I read the directions finally.

"DO NOT use compressor continuously for more than 10 minutes. Allow unit to cool for approximately 25 minutes between uses."

I guess you could read that one of two ways. But either way you read it, it makes the product almost unusable for tire maintenance. Combined with the screw on, YUCK.
Good while it lasted, but died after 13 months
August 22, 2016
This was a great pump while it lasted. Purchased this July 2015, and it finally bit the dust August 2016. Prior to this failure, I would've given it 4 stars.

The auto shutoff feature was worth the price alone, and is the primary reason I bought it. It was easy to set my desired pressure, turn it on, and walk away to do something else while I waited for it to fill the tire. It didn't pump terribly fast, but since you're not sitting there watching a needle, it doesn't need to. No complaints about speed for a standard passenger car or a small SUV.

The main problem I had with this pump was that when turning it on, it would sometimes only pump for a fraction of a second, and then seemingly stall out and stop. Pushing the on/off button repeatedly a few times would normally remedy this, and once it got going for good it wouldn't stop again until it hit the desired pressure. I never did figure out what caused this, but it was a minor enough inconvenience that it didn't bother me.

That is, until one day it simply wouldn't turn on anymore. I had just re-aired two of my tires from 28 to 32 psi, and then on the third tire it just wouldn't pump anymore. The backlight worked fine, as did the built-in flashlight, so I knew I was getting power. But no more air. Unfortunately this thing is going in the trash now and I'll be looking for a higher-quality one with an auto shutoff feature like this one.
Nice Design but doesn't work consistently
January 6, 2016
So the good: the form factor of this is nice, portable and as others have noted the cords are long-enough. The light is a nice addition too. The instructions were straight-forward. The hose connected easily to my tire valve. I do not think it is any more noisy than any other inflator. And when it works I think it pumps reasonably quickly. (Pumping a vehicle tire is always going to take longer than say a basketball.)

The bad: Mine keeps turning itself off before it reaches the correct PSI. So it took multiple efforts to reach 36psi. Also, it also doesn't start immediately, requiring me to press the on/off button over and over for it to kick-in. Overall, since I bought these in case of an emergency tire deflation, I do not have a high confidence in it working when I need it most. Will likely return.

And yes, I double checked a firm attachment to the tire valve. And no, the inflator was not overheated or hot in the least bit.
What kind of TIRE? Not a car tire, I learned.
December 29, 2014
I purchased this item as a CAR tire inflator. I own a 2014 Ford Escape. My tire pressure was low, and when I used this to inflate the tires, I couldn't get it back about 32 PSI. I was at risk of burning the motor out before I got past that number. My tires (and I checked like 5 times to make sure) have a greater than 40 PSI requirement. This is useless for what I needed it for. Instead, it will go in my beach gear back to fill up inflatables when we go to the beach. I wouldn't recommend. I am giving it two starts just because it is handy, but doesn't do the job it says it will

Poor quality
February 20, 2017
I purchased one of these in June 2015, and have had two problems with the compressor.1) Upon first receiving the unit I found the cord for wall plug-in would not stay securely attached to the compressor when in use. It was simply too loose, and would shake out when the compressor was turned on. I called customer service who sent me another cord, same problem. I thought it too much trouble to send the compressor back (yes, I'm sure I could have, and maybe another unit would have been better), and have been working around this issue by laying the compressor on its side whenever I use it.2) Second issue, and a lot more problematic, is that after 1.5 years of use the air hose has sprung a leak where it connects with the valve clamp. So, it is essentially now useless. Good thing I discovered this at home, rather than on the road somewhere under less ideal conditions, which was the primary reason for buying this compressor.Net net, have experienced poor quality with the unit I received and I'd be reluctant to have one of these in my trunk and trust it to work when you need it to.
Not for car tires.
October 11, 2016
PROS:1. 110v & 12v plugs2. Nylon Storage bag.CONS:1. LOUD!2. Could not get past 30PSI.3. Smells like it was transported in the tank of a gasoline truck.I plugged the unit into my garage 110v outlet, then I clamped the end onto my car tire valve stem and powered the unit on using the side mounted 110v switch. The gauge read 30psi, which matched my cars monitoring sensor, so I though there might be some hope for this thing. After 2 minutes, the gauge dropped to 25psi. I turned the unit off but could not hear or feel any leaks as i ran my hand along the hose and connector. I turned it back on and left it running for 5 minutes, but there was no change.I'm not sure if I want to keep it around for bicycles & balloons or throw it away.
Complete waste of time and money.

Kensun YS-205 pump review: If I could give this 1/2 or no stars, I would. Do NOT make the same mistake I did. After years of topping off my car tires with a bicycle pump, I decided my back and my time both needed saving. I was excited to find this pump on Amazon: sounded great, overall seemingly good scores -- and I was thrilled when it arrived quickly via Prime. That's where it ended.Excitedly, I went out to inflate my car tires in both cars. I thought something was just WRONG with it. I even pored over the instructions, etc. to make sure I didn't have to unlock something, or hit a different button, remove an air covering or something. But after going back now and digging through other reviews on this product specifically, I sadly realize that this is just the pump.1. WORST & FIRST, this hardly fills air, or fills so slowly that it will not save any time. I couldn't believe how long it took for the pressure gauge to climb just a few PSI. And I was using the regular wall outlet in my garage (tried another one too, just to troubleshoot).2. Potentially even worse (but I'm not going to wait around to witness this happen) the motor just can't handle the work, and I see a very short future. After running for 5 or 10 minutes on my first tire -- and it still not moving much toward my goal of 40 PSI -- it began really smelling and getting hot. After a little more usage on the second tire (see point 4), I actually saw smoke starting to come out. SMOKE!3. Additionally, for all the "not working," this pump is incredibly LOUD (which I suppose I could live with if it actually worked).4. After laboriously getting one tire almost satisfactory enough, I moved to a second tire. After 10-15 mins of running on that second tire (turning it off a couple of times to read the exact PSI, and to give "the little engine that couldn't" a small rest)... I got out my bicycle pump and topped off the other two tires by hand in just a few minutes. Then I unplugged the Kensun from this second tire and finished it by hand in a jiffy.5. Oh yeah, and you can hardly read the PSI gauge while it's running because the pump vibrates SO much, so you have to keep stopping it when you want to read where your at in PSI.... which unfortunately is usually the same place you were before! :(I am SO disappointed in this pump, and in this experience. I'm returning it today, immediately. Do not make the same mistake I did.Meanwhile, looking back at the Amazon page for this pump, it is ridiculous that is says this pump is reduced from $299.99 to just $39.99 (an 87% savings!!). Seriously?? It is not worth $9.99.
Good design, poor quality!
September 19, 2015
The issue with this product is quality. My first unit I received was DOA because it would not work from the car power source at all. I replaced the unit and used it several times to fill my car tires and bike tires. When working properly the unit is great. I liked the functionality of being able to use multiple power sources so I could keep it in my vehicle. It is not very loud and can inflate a car tire in a decent amount of time for a small unit. I was disappointed that within six weeks and only three or four uses the unit completely stopped working from the wall power source. This was after a frustrating time filling when it would short in and out. I was also disappointed to find that Kensun is selling this product for $5 more on Amazon than on their own site. Though I would gladly purchase through Amazon since they have excellent service and support.

I don't get the postitive reviews...
July 6, 2015
I am shocked by the reviews on this product. If we had only ordered 1 unit, I wouldn't leave such a negative review. However, we've ordered it twice thinking that we just got a bad one the first time. It takes FOREVER to fill up anything. My daughter got a Wubble Bubble and it would take 1-2 HOURS to fill it up. We usually fill it up for her half way. To fill up a tire from 29 to 34, it takes 30 minutes. Additionally, it is working so hard to emit such a small amount of air that it moves all over the place. We have to hold it while attempting to use it.Update: Kensun contacted me when they saw my review and sent me a replacement (A1001) as well as the 12V to 110V adapter. It could, again, barely blow up a small child's ball from the car. As for the adapter to use it in the house, that was a complete joke. It gave the compressor just enough power to turn the light on. The air didn't work at all. Also, be aware that you're reading reviews for a variety of Kensun products. I still don't know how they have a 4.5 star average based on the multiple products we've tried, but the rating is very inaccurate. The products should all be listed separately so that the ratings are fair.Update 10/18/15: The company continues to contact me to offer free equipment to change my review or remove it. While I appreciate the effort to make us happy with our purchase, I don't appreciate them asking me to delete or change my review. Here are comments in the last 2 e-mails I received from them: "If we have met your needs and our offer resolves the issues with your purchase, we would be ever so appreciative if you would consider removing your review, as I wrote earlier, your ratings are important for us to continue to provide our customers with our services and products, and we do follow and try to resolve any issues our customers may have! " And another from this past week: "How are you ? I understand that you did not like your replacement air compressor but you can choose another model all is this is free all I ask if when you receive it and you are happy then if you could adjust your review ."Kensun: We have gave your product a fair try. The equipment is junk. Our review is just as important as the others. I am not removing or changing my review.Update 11/18/15: Kensun continues to harass us. They sent us another machine and we can't even get the hose to hook up properly to the equipment. When the manager called me, he said "sometimes customers get 2, 3, 4, or even 5 bad machines, but I assure you our equipment is good". Um, ok.KENSUN - I WILL NOT REMOVE MY REVIEW. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN. You most recently called me 3 times in one day. I am also letting Amazon know about the continued contact. It's gone way overboard.

Almost immediately went from "apparently great" to useless.
December 13, 2016
I bought this after carefully reading many reviews and it seemed ideal. It worked beautifully, once, but when I switched to a second car's tires the next day it kept shutting itself off for no apparent reason, and when it actually ran for a minute or two the pressure reading was inaccurate and actually started to DECREASE while pumping. It says car must not be running, but my BMW does not offer the option of a live cigarette lighter socket unless it is. Also, in order to reach the spare in my wife's trunk (a sedan, not an SUV) I had to stretch the cable and hose beyond what seemed reasonable. An extra foot of cord would've been helpful. I sent it back and opted for a pump that actually said "be sure the engine is running".
Buyer Beware: Product comes with 30 DAY - which is to say "NO" - WARRANTY
November 17, 2015
Buyer Beware - notice this comes with a 30 Day Warranty - which is to say "NO WARRANTY"!

I purchased the inflator because of size and cost plus the stop feature for filling tire to a preset level.

The product worked OK - right out of the box - but it was noisy and created vibration that causes it to "walk" until it reaches a physical constraint. Really questionable in quality.

Had this come with a quality, 1 year proper warranty I might have kept it. But because it seemed to be of questionable quality, I thought I should send it back and get something that I could count on for being there when it was needed - whether in 6 months or 6 years. But 30 days? Come on!!!!!

In case you are interested in what I chose as its replacement: VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor. Price $41.28 total with Amazon Prime. A full one year warranty with clear return policy available in product details - something that seems appropriate for a legitimate product and legitimate company. Reviews of that product that say, basically, that it isn't shaking itself to pieces as it operates was also of great interest. This is something I could anticipate on about day 31.

Good luck with YOUR decision!
The first time I used it, it blew the fuse of my car's 12V, besides that, doesnt work.
October 10, 2015
I didn't need it in the first 30 days and so the return is not available. The first time I used it, it blew the fuse of my car's 12V, so I originally thought it was a DOA. After replacing the fuse I tried to use it again to inflate my bike's tires and a soccer ball. It stops inflating way before the goal pressure, showing it has "reached" the pressure desired (checked with a pressure gauge). I thought that maybe the software is buggy and so I completely deflated my soccer ball and tired again, it worked for a split second and stopped. TLDR dont buy it!
Total Let Down
August 30, 2015
I bought this b/c of price and good reviews. Started off great with the first car tire. Inflated it quickly within 2 minutes. Then when I tried the 2nd tire- the unit kept shutting off over and over again. It seems the unit overheats with less than 2min of use. I had to wait four- 5min between tires and by the fourth on it would barely stay on for more than 5seconds even with waiting. Waste of money and since I didn't use it for a while after getting- I missed the return window. Don't waste your time or money with this.
don't work, don't bother buy something else
February 15, 2015
Update: One day past the 30 day Amazon return window, this shiny piece of cr*P stopped working completely. The light comes on but the compressor does not engage. Don't buy this. Spend your money on something anything else. I regret this purchase which is rare for anything I have purchased from Amazon.

It does work as advertised but the written instructions are very hard to follow. When you screw the tip onto the tire it starts letting any remaining air out while you fiddle frantically with the control settings. The wire storage is a joke. Yes, it is large enough to hold the wires how it comes from the factory but almost impossible to put the wires back inside for storage. The box it comes in is no help in storage either. I am already looking for another box to put the whole thing into. I just know the instructions and the wires and the connectors will be strung out all over the back seat and trunk after my husband uses it once. Instructions should be printed on the unit itself so you can know what to do when the flimsy paper instructions get lost. It does work as it says it will but really needs to be improved
