Excellent Product
August 11, 2015
This UNU battery case works great, I did not want to enter a comment until I had some reasonable time to experience it's functionality, and I am very pleased with the fit and fell, it may be a little thicker than other protective cases with-out a battery but I like the fact that you can hold the cell phone with a better grip. The silver-white combination gives it a classy look, I look foreword to my cell phone having great protection, a full load of added charge time as needed and an extended cell phone battery life with this product.
Buy the DX PLUS version!
June 19, 2015
I already have the Power DX version and love it with one exception . . . the upper slide-on/off piece which allows you to remove the battery from the iPhone, is very fragile and I have gone thru 3 of them (they are available online). After the most recent breakage of the piece, I decided to try this Power DX PLUS battery and I find it to be a more rugged version. Although I have only had it a short time, I fully expect it will solve my breakage problem.BTW: The "slide on\off piece" on the "PLUS" version is not compatible with the non-PLUS version in case you are considering buying one as a replacement for installation on your non-PLUS battery.
uNu 2400ma Battery Case
July 2, 2013
I purchased 3 uNu cases. A 1700ma for myself and two 2400ma cases for family gifts. They all more than met our expectations. I've had Mophie and 2 other brands that failed in less than 3 months. They failed because of the mini connector on the case stopped accepting a charge or detached from the case internally. The uNu cases are good quality and have performed extremely well from day one. I get 2 days from my 1700ma and my son and daughter in law both are averaging 3 days from their 2400ma cases. We all added the dry transfer screen offered by AT&T and have come up with a no-fuss operating mobile phone. This case is very reliable and would recommend it to any 4s iPhone user.
Better than expected
December 18, 2012
Three weeks after ordering this, I decided to test it to its maximum capacity as I wanted to drain the 4s battery and fully charge it as I do once per month. I had fully charged the uNu a week earlier and I had not used to fully recharge the 4s. I left home on the way to work with about 32% battery capacity on the telephone with a 90-minute commute ahead of me. I listened to music and downloaded a dictionary on the way there using 3G on the subway. I also conducted a couple web searches. On my return trip home (I leave my phone off at work), I began with ~18% battery power (these percentages are all according to the meter on the iPhone). I allowed the telephone to drain down to ~1% battery power before turning on the uNu to begin charging my telephone (it took about 30 minutes of reading an e-book, downloading a dictionary, and checking six email and three text messages to go from ~18% power to ~1% power using 3G with WiFi turned on). The telephone continued to charge throughout my trip while undergoing what I would consider to be moderate-to-heavy usage while on a typical subway commute (listening to music, and conducting a 3G download of two e-books on the way home at one stop with decent cellular coverage, all while reading another e-book - no talk, however). When I returned home, I began browsing the news using WiFi while still using the uNu to continue charging the battery. A little over two hours after I starting charging the telephone using the uNu, it stopped charging the 4s battery. My battery indicator read the telephone had reached a 78% charge.I cannot say whether all will get these results, but I think they are reasonable for commuters who use their telephones for entertainment while commuting. Also, I cannot say whether or not this is the best phone case for all as I have never dropped the phone using it and I have never broken a phone because I dropped it on the ground (water will be likely to get in if you drop it in a tub of it). For those primarily interested in battery life with a least some regard to telephone protection, this product delivers.
DX Plus - A legitimate successor to the DX Series!
December 4, 2012
I've had such positive experiences with the DX-1700 by uNu that when I saw the DX Plus I knew I had to get my hands on it and see for myself if the DX Plus is a worthy successor. Dissatisfied by the majority of existing reviews on the DX Plus, I decided to create something that would give the average consumer, like me, a glimpse of the product before committing to a purchase. As a consultant, I run a hectic schedule that demands mobility and flexibility. Being on a conference call for an hour while driving or working at a client site can be taxing on my iPhone's battery, which initially led me to look for a viable solution to additional battery power. Enter the DX Plus. The Good:1. Competitively priced with a great balance of quality and reliability.2. The DX Plus echoes the aesthetics of the iPhone's design, especially the glossy white and silver trim. And speaking of design, the battery case feels like a cohesive unit. No clumsy wires or additional cables to carry around.3. It works, and then some. I can go an entire day without plugging in my phone to a wall charger, and that includes web surfing, sending/reading emails, and running various apps. The Bad:1. The DX Plus will add some considerable bulk to your slim iPhone.2. The DX Plus adds extra weight.Bottom-line:At 2,400mah, the DX Plus was aimed at a specific target market - power users. That's 10 hours of extra talk time! I've checked the power capacities of other brands and the DX Plus has more juice than most. Indeed, this thing will make your iPhone feel like a mini-tank, but in my humble opinion that's a small tradeoff for the convenience and peace of mind in knowing that you won't be stuck without power when you need it most.
Good phone case
September 28, 2012
I have had the case for 7 months. I like it very much .The good things are1) The case seems very well made. I purchased a DX-04-2400 White base with silver bumper case, the white piano finish looks every elegant2) The textured feel of the case is good. Less likely to drop it, and not prone to fingerprints and smudges. And it is slightly less likely to fall out of my shirt pocket when I bend over.3) It protects the phone from drops and most types of damage very well. The phone almost bounces ,and I have never had any physical damage to my phone since I use this case.

Use use iPod 4 generation
August 12, 2015
Have used it successfully with my our iPod generation 4. its smaller than iPhone 4/4s so buttons aren't as accessable as much, but the battery was shot on the iPod and now we can use bluetooth without being plugged in continuously. I initially bought an external battery pack for the iPod but having have two of them connected all the time was a hassle. I Like this better, you have to stick your finger under the frame to get at the shut down and turn on buttoned and there is no way connect headphones. But for bluetooth play with the iPod in our car or boom, it works great.
Works as good as expected, good solid extra power, not a disappointment at all

Great Battery Case. NOTE: uses Micro USB plug for charging - does not have iphone style plug on the outside of the case. So when it is connected to the phone, the only way to charge is to use micro usb. I think most people like me have a bunch of micro usb chargers as well as iphone charges so be prepared to break out the micro usbs for when you want to charge this up.Also, the case doesn't need to be off or on after charging when the case is on the iphone. If you leave the battery case "on", it will just provide power for the iphone 4 or 4s during the day until the battery case runs out of juice. Then the iphone battery will kick in, and this should be *significantly* longer than just trying to run on your iphone battery. Or, if you turn the battery case off after charging (holding down the battery case button for 2-4 sec) it will remain off and the iphone can run on its battery, then when you need it you can use the battery case button to turn it on and charge the iphone.Either way for me it's been about one charge per day, or on a couple days it has been about a day and a half before both need a charge. The iphone will be getting two charges (one with the battery and one with the wall) if you turn the battery case off during the day when unplugged. Or it will just get one charge per day on its battery if you leave the case on... (it will only actually use the iphone battery towards the end of the day, then both will recharge full, then you start out running off the battery case. I think this is better for battery cycles on your iphone - cause you can always get another battery case. The only thing I would say is that the plastic top piece which clicks over the phone to enclose it into the larger battery case is somewhat hokey - the plastic detent clips wear easily and I ended up playing with it, causing it to slide right off in no time. So I had to add tape to thicken the plastic before I slide it on.
Good price, works as it should, terrible manual
February 28, 2014
The UNu Power battery case for the iPhone is an affordable alternative to the better known Mophie. The case feels solid and fits well. It's also pretty thick, about 3/4 inch, so it's noticeable in your pants or sport coat pocket, not much so in a backpack or outer jacket. It's a hard case that feels like it offers some protection but this is not an Otterbox Commuter. With my phone's aging battery (a year old) and this new case fully charged, you can go a full day, all night, and into the next day with the phone mostly on standby, some talk, a little web browsing. If you use it for GPS navigation, that sucks down power but still you won't run the phone dry even if you stay out late. The worst part: The manual is poorly written by a non-native English speaker. It's unclear in the extreme about whether you drain the phone battery first or the case battery first in order to maintain the built in battery for many more months. It's also unclear how the button on back works, that is when you press it, how do you know if you've turned the battery flow to the phone on or off. (When the case is unplugged from power, if you just turned the power flow on, the charge light on the phone glows green.)There are 4 blue LEDs on back to indicate state of charge. Some people may find them too bright to leave on the nightstand without tossel a washcloth or T-shirt over it. Overall, mostly because of the price the competition, this feels like a good deal. If you're iPhone battery if fading and you need to make it last 6 more months, you're willing to pay $40 for a battery case; it stings to pay $100.
Almost perfect
January 26, 2014
I have owned this for over a week now, for the most part it is great. The good: The charging port acts as a pass through port to the phone, so rather than taking the case off and plugging in your 30pin cable, all you need is a micro usb cable to charge and sync with iTunes. It is definitely meant for big hands (some may see this as a downer however.) The battery makes my phone last from the time I take it off the charger in the morning between 9-10am and lasts until I goto bed at 1-2am.It will take my phone from 10-15% right back to 100% in about an hour Which is great, no more car chargers, no more charging at school or the office. It matches the white iPhone nicely. The Bad: Case gets hot, although it is a once in a while thing, but it happens. Poor internal design. I had to see how the internals worked so I cracked it open (Yes, total geek) The circuit board has a small black plug, like the motherboard case connections in a computer, tiny. One drop and this portion was damaged, however a little solder and realignment fixed it. There is a piece of plastic between the volume + and - buttons, for big hands/fingers this is bad, if it were between the volume + and the vibrate switch it would have been fine, I ended up cutting it out and filing it down smooth to get rid of it, to me it was extremely annoying.Everything considered I would recommend this to everyone, although some may need to slightly modify it as I did. It allows the iPhone to last all day with heavy usage and makes the phone fit better for those of us with large hands.
It Does Its Job, But..
October 4, 2013
I had a Mophie prior to this one. The Mophie's mini USB jack became too loose to charge it, so I purchased the uNu. I am frequently on the phone during the day away from chargers. I cycle and at the end of the work day I need enough additional power for at least two hours to run my GPS mapping app, MapMyRide, while playing music, through the speakers, from Rhapsody. The uNu handles it beautifully. Have only once run short and that was more me than it.It is noticeably heavier than the Morphie, but it also has more power, 2400 MAH versus Morphie's 1500 MAH. It has survived numerous drops. The biggest problem is the case interferes with the camera, especially the flash to the point you have to remove the case to take a flash photo. The other slightly annoying thing is that it is more difficult than the Morphie to know if the external battery is on stand-by or connected to the phone.
Great Battery Case even though it's bulky
January 16, 2013
I ordered the case basically because I travel all the time, or I'm working all over and I want to be able to watch my tv using slingbox on my iPhone 4S. Before I got this case I could watch maybe a 60 minute stream using 4g or a 100 minutes connected to wifi before my battery would be dead. My times are estimates because honestly I don't remember, nor do I care because it was very frustrating always looking for somewhere to plug in my phone. When I got the case and put it on it made my iPhone bulky, kinda ugly, but I guess I should have expected that. The case fits almost perfectly, not perfect because the case is 2 pieces that connect top to bottom. I don't fault them for this because after all I want function not style. The first day I took my iPhone in the new case to work I also took a charge cable(which by the way is not an iPhone cable, it's a micro usb). The micro usb cable plugs into the bottom of the case, thus why a traditional iphone cable won't work. I have been using my case for 3-4 weeks now and the charge cable has still never been used at work. I am one of those people who always charges my phone at night, however during the day my percent has never gone below 86%, and that was on a saturday. On that day I was at the bar with my wife, I streamed a soccer game, an ncaa basketball game(GO KU), and most of an nfl football game with my battery not dropping below 86%.I can't say anything more. It's not the prettiest thing, it is bulky, but it works like a charm. Several of my coworkers have since bought them same model.I made the right choice, and fyi......this is the first review I've ever posted about a product that I like.

Good, but
July 15, 2016
I absolutely LOVE the idea of the Mophie rechargeable cases!!! I really do. I have a couple of problems with them, though. First, we have owned 6 of these cases (for the iPhone 4S, 5, and 6S), and not a single one of them has lasted more than 6 months. Two of them quit charging and three of them either quit holding a charge, or their switch to use the battery became so loose that it would charge here and there, depleting the case battery when the phone was 99% charged. The iPhone 4s case has the best switch because it is hidden on a corner and won't accidentally be turned on, but they were the ones that totally quit charging the phone. The iPhone 5 case has a switch that is on the back and it constantly switched on and off when it became loose. The iPhone 6 case has a button that you press, and as a new case, it regularly charges my phone when I don't want it to.As for the protection factor....I am a klutz. I drop my phone pretty much on a daily basis. I also have young kids who drop my phone. I have also used the really heavy duty OtterBox cases for my phones. These cases are much more slim, and protect my phone just as well, if not better than the OtterBox cases. I hated how dust could go between the OtterBox case and the phone screen, forcing you to remove the case on a regular basis in order to clean the screen (unless you do what I did and remove the OtterBox screen and put a screen protector on the phone, instead). My solution is the Mophie case with a glass screen protector. I feel as though it is an unbeatable combination, I just wish the battery would last longer!
New Juice pack / may need new back-up chargers
October 12, 2013
It came as promised. I will warn others that this is my second one and it is different than the previous. The charge port is recessed deeper and the charger it came with has a longer head. When I first recieved it the charger it came with worked great but some of the other chargers I had did not work so well. They would charge the Juice pack if I inserted it just right and did not touch the it afterwards. By comparing my newer chargers with my old ones that is when I discovered the new styles have a longer head and the Juice pack had a charge port that is recessed deeper. I then had to go out and purchase a new car charger because I only had the old style. I am thinking the change is due to what happened to my last Juice Pack, the charge port broke after 13 months which was outside the warranty by one month. The point I am making is if this Juice Pack is purcahced, new style chargers may also have to be purchased. I gave it 4 stars because I had to figure out all the above by myself. I do however stronger recommend the Juice pack. With my job I don't always have access to a power source to charge my phone and the Juice pack gives me an equivalent to a second battery which I have needed on many occasions.
Excellent Case/Battery with a Couple Missteps
March 5, 2013
The case I received appears to be an authentic Mophie Juice Pack Plus. I do not have the camera flash reflection others complained of in low light. The case fits my iPhone 4S nicely and all the openings line up well. The battery charges in a few hours and provides a little more juice than is needed one full charge for my woefully inadequate iPhone battery. The case has survived a number of drops without permanent damage to the case or the phone. I love being able to charge the iPhone using an industry-standard micro USB connector rather than Apple's irritating proprietary adapter.Downsides: The micro USB socket is oddly placed and barely grips the USB jack. I have taken to beveling the plastic edges off the tops of my micro USB cables with an exacto knife to allow for a reliable fit. (Maybe this is a sign of a counterfeit -- if so, I received an excellent fake.) Also, while the headphone jack fits Apple's headphones, it does not allow many other 1/8" stereo jacks to fully connect. The phone is very big with this case -- this was expected and I don't consider it a flaw, just a trade-off for a charging case. It barely fits in my universal phone holder for my car, and the phone digs deeply into my hip when crouching while wearing pants with shallow pockets.Ultimately, a case like this is a necessary evil due to the iPhone's inadequate battery. Apple is not alone in this respect; as far as I know, only Motorola has designed a single smart phone model with a battery that allows the phone to hold a charge for a few days with ALL radio functions left on. Other manufacturers -- including Apple -- will follow suit when we stop buying phones with crappy batteries. So, the case is a necessary evil but is an excellent design overall. The opening for the USB port is my biggest complaint, but I hope this is not due to counterfeiting.
love the case, could use some improvements in design
June 26, 2012
I have had my white mophie juice plus case for about 2 months now. Overall, happy with the product, nice to have extra battery power when you need it. However I feel there could be some design improvements....PROS: good feel in the hand, feels solid and looks sleek. Recessed well in the back protects the camera lens. Speaker sounds good, sounds are "fuller". Indicator lights on the bottom show how much power you have left in reserve. Haven't had a problem with charging the unit. I usually charge it when I get home, and it's ready in the morning. Nice not to have to carry a separate battery pack.CONS: as with other reviews, mine developed a crack in the lower right hand corner, same side as where the micro usb charging port is at (maybe a design flaw??) The charging port itself is located on a rounded corner, so the usb cable is flush with the case at the top, but not at the bottom. Having the micro usb charging port out of the side makes it tougher to find a phone holder that hides the cable (for aesthetic reasons) if you want to charge with the case on. You will need to take the bottom case off to use it on conventional docking stations/clocks for charging. Also, the unit does get hot when it is using the reserve power. One other con is the headphone jack. The case is thick and has a narrow oval opening for the jack, and the regular headphone jack will not fit flush with the unit anymore. Will need to find a jack with a narrower profile to fit inside that narrow oval opening. I have had to remove the top cover if I wanted to use the headphone jack.
Classy Looking
June 7, 2012
I just received my Mophie today. It's VERY easy to use - the case slides on and off without a struggle. It came mostly charged and it only took a little while to charge it the rest of the way. I turned on my 3G service on my iPhone 4 when I left my house earlier today and my phone has stayed at 100% power all day. I'm pretty impressed with that so far. I love the way the case feels - it has a good weight and feel to it. The back is rounded very much like the 3G designed iPhones. I kind of like that because when I travel places, I'd prefer that people don't look at my phone and see something new and pricey. I like the idea of it looking like an older model. The case seems like it would provide ample protection if I dropped it. The only thing that I'm a little bummed about is that there is no connection on the bottom for the iPhone to be connected to my car. If you have a connector that goes into the headset jack, then you're fine, but if your car uses the iPhone/USB connect, then you'll have to take the case off in order to use it. Not a big deal since the case is easily removable, but nevertheless, it would be nice if that had been taken into consideration. So far I'm really happy with it. It makes my phone feel pretty substantial - it definitely adds some size to it but it doesn't look ridiculous. It's more proportionate. If you want sleeker, the Air might be the way to go - I looked at one today and it's definitely quite a bit smaller, but I wanted the added protection and love the look of the white on white.
Saved me more than a couple of times
November 7, 2011
I bought the Mophie Juice Pack Plus back in June of 2011. I've used it since (at the time of review it's been about 5 months). This is an amazing case. At full charge I can get my iPhone 4 back up to 100% or close depending on how much I use it while it's charging. I often sleep over in my office and am out in the field two days running when I get busy and I don't need to plug the phone in to charge for about 3 days (and I use my phone A LOT).Best thing is to pick one of these up, buy a Scosche (or any brand) USB car charger that allows you to use your own cables, buy an extra micro USB cable from Mophie and keep them in your car. With this combination I hardly ever have to charge my phone in the wall. When I do I just leave it overnight and both the phone and case are 100% charged. This thing also takes a beating, I would know. I dropped it about 5 times onto pavement from waist height, a couple times right onto the face of the phone, but no cracks or chips. Even the case is not too badly damaged. Me and my dad also own the Otterbox defender cases, he still uses his, but mine was way too clunky for me so I ditched it for this case and haven't looked back.PROS:-Not too heavy-Good form factor-Can charge up to 100% or very close-Improves the sound quality of the built in iPhone speakersCONS:-The placement of the charging port makes it annoying to talk with the right hand, so I always use my left (not a biggie for me since I'm left handed).-In order to fit some types of earphones/headphones into the port, you need to remove the top cover.-The plastic on the right side of the case has started to come loose, but you can't tell unless you actually pull it back with your finger. Doesn't bother me a bit.-The screen of the phone sits less than a 1mm from the face of the case, so if you drop it on anything other than clean-ish pavement, you will most likely scratch the face.SUMMARY: Buy this case if you want a balance of good protection and battery life.

OK Unit
January 20, 2016
Purchased as a gift, but I installed, and the fit was veerry tight; didn't close fully. Not as simple to "turn on/off" as other units, but the flush pushbutton also does not have the risk of damage as happened to the unit it replaces.
Not Completely Satisfied Customer
June 2, 2015
I bought one in February. It stopped charging in May. I took it off the phone and tried charging the phone with its original charger. The phone battery charged. I then tried charging the case without the phone and it did not charge.I got another one in May and in June. It stopped charging. I tested both the charger and phone separately and found that the phone would not charge, the uNu case did charge. When I took the phone in for repair, I found that it needed a new battery which I did replace. I put the uNu case back on and it worked. Three weeks later, the phone stopped charging. I took it in to find that the charger port on the phone needed replacing. I wound up replacing the phone itself with another iPhone 4s and put it in the charger. Both charger and phone are working as expected.I am disappointed that the first uNu stopped working after three months. I'm hoping that this one lasts until September when we can inexpensively update the phone.
bad plug design!!!
April 30, 2015
Unit was a great design and looked good. Installed on my I Phone 4s was easy. Just slide the 4S into the bottom piece and then slide the top piece on to phone until it clicks and you are done. Would advise charging unit prior to install because it takes 2-3 hours for a full charge. It was good on recharging phone at least 2-3 times during the day. As directed it auto charges at night when you plug it in to recharge. The negative of unit and weak point is the charging cord and plug. It was hard to get it to stay in the unit. And I made a mistake of buying what I thought was a replacement cord and plugged into the unit and damaged the female receptacle on phone and had to throw it away. Could not charge after that. There is a little micro PC Board that your plug connect to and it has to be perfect fit when you plug your charging cord in or you will damage unit........
OK, though poor quality
September 17, 2014
Poor quality overall, though it does help extend battery life. I have purchased several of these in the past years, and the first one lasted the longest. Now, when I buy a replacement, I use cut pieces of Gorilla tape to tape the edges and the seems to keep it closed. I found that without the edge protection and the seams taped, the unit would disintegrate qhen dropped onto a hard surface. Now the unit is not disintegrating, it just no longer can be charged and charge the phone at the same time. The batter life is also much shorter than it was originally. Very low quality product, but I have not been able to find and decent high quality alternatives.
excellent power source - poor design
May 12, 2014
After a few months of using this charge case (I purchased this to replace the Mophie case that kept failing at the usb input) I noticed that the top part of the case that slides on and off began to loosen and would frequently "fall out" of its track. This began to be somewhat of an annoyance after sometime. The "silver" finish on the sides of the case began to wear off over time and no longer looked nice. It did protect my phone from several falls and drops and it did so without any damage to my phone. As far as a charger, I still use it on my old iPhone 4s that my kid beats up on a regular basis.
like it but...
May 31, 2013
so far battery has provided extra life for iphone 4 just as promised.Pros:Like that the battery lights are on the back and dont flash all night long while trying to charge while sleepingsleek modern case, does add length and weight (stays in armband while running but isnt covered completely if it rains)Consdont like that it needs its own charging cordwould like it better if the bottom popped off (rather than the top) so that I could use regular Iphone car charger easily.it's also too easy to hit to the 'charge' button as it is placed on the back of the phone... several times I've activated charging by accident.all in all a good option so far. Will see how long it lasts.Update:been using it for a few days now... really feel like my phone battery is being drained by this battery case. I normally just save the extra battery for events (running marathon, vacations) but since using this as my daily case, I've had to use the extra battery almost daily. It shouldnt be causing additional drain just so I have to use it. decreasing a star.

Good.. but.. the one I got might be warped
June 14, 2016
I bought this for an old iPhone 4s. THE GOOD: It seems to work well enough.. adds 1-2 days of extended battery life depending on usage. The case is a bit thick, but not unexpectedly so, based on the reviews I read. It does fit snugly on the phone and once the two pieces are connected together, it is very sturdy. The rubberized back and sides make for a good amount of grip and I imagine some good protection from bumps and drops (my guess from how it feels; I have not dropped my phone) THE BAD: The power button has good tactile feel and gives a satisfying "click" when pressed. The same is NOT true for the volume buttons which must be squeezed very hard and there is no "click" or button movement. I think there is an alignment problem with the two components when connected. When I put just the top piece on the phone (the one with the buttons), the buttons do seem aligned and give a "click" when pressed. However, once I slide the bottom piece in place (the part with the battery) and the two sides meet, the tactile feel of the volume buttons disappears; there is no more "click" and only a very hard squeeze will move the volume (my wife can't squeeze that hard). I looked at the bottom part of the case and it appears to be slightly warped, so that when slid onto the phone and connected with the top, it just moves the volume buttons on the case out of alignment with the volume buttons on the body of the phone. The bottom of the case is too rigid to bend into alignment (it houses the battery itself) and so I'm pretty much out of luck as far as the volume buttons go. Either I must squeeze them VERY hard or must use the on-screen volume control with an up-swipe. This is kind of disappointing, as I find myself constantly in need of adjusting the volume for either the ringer, a phone call or when listening to Spotify. So.. basically.. it is a bummer. I like the extra battery life, but I'm disappointed with the volume button problem. I could or would return it to try and see if a replacement would fit better, but I bought the black one for $20 and it's not worth my time to even send it back. Based on this, if the seller or manufacturer wants to send me another one that has the chance of fitting better, I will update this review with my findings. Otherwise, I guess I'll live with this large flaw and keep squeezing away when I need to work the volume controls. One other item worth mentioning.. the micro USB port faces sideways on the right side of the case at a right angle to the case which is somewhat non-standard. I expected the port to be on the bottom which is more standard. It's just a little odd to have the charging cable jutting out to the right of the case vs. on the bottom like every or most other cases and or devices. Not a deal breaker, but an odd design choice.
Defective plug socket!
October 2, 2013
I have had this product 2 years only and had the pack break twice where you plug in on the side to charge it. It is defective. Breaks too easily and i know almost everyone who has it has the same problem. Seems to last for about a year before it gives way. The company did send a replacement the first time and then a year later out it came again and they said too bad.. So just repeating my experience. It worked great, and weighted like a brick but i am alright with that as i dropped it a few times and it never broke and i never lost it! The switch to turn on to recharge should be switched on and off when needed or else it will drain really quickly.. so now i don't have one anymore and going to wait for the iphone 6 i think.. the cost is about half of what a new phone would cost!
Extends battery life, USB connector is crap
July 1, 2013
Mophie has a good thing here, they just need to stop cutting corners when it comes to details. The pack holds my iPhone 4s securely, and offers great protection on all corners and edges. Battery is extended 2-10 hours, depending on how I am using my phone, which varies from day to day, but with the sorry battery life of the iPhone I'm grateful for the extension Mophie provides. My only complaint, and it's big enough to be thoroughly irritating, is when I go to plug in the mini-USB connector it doesn't sit correctly in the phone and thus won't charge the phone; I have to gently wiggle it out until I see the lights illuminate on the bottom indicating that the charging has started. Yet on more than one occasion that hasn't been a solid indicator...the light will start flashing as if it's charging and 8 hours later, it's still on the first light, flashing - zero charge. There is serious room for improvement on this device, but for now it will just have to do.
Nice to have, but underwhelmed
May 14, 2013
The case does not add too much bulk and is pretty sleek in design. I'm used to the Otterbox Defender and Commuter, so the size doesn't really bother me. I've only used the case twice, and once was testing it at home, so I can't speak to the quality of the protection at this point.Super easy to use and install.Using it right out of the box, as the directions say it is fully charged for you, I went from 13% to about 70% with my phone on. Not the 'wow' I was hoping for, but better than nothing. I let the case fully charge for a real-life trial run, thinking maybe that fresh-out-of-box charge wasn't really a full charge. I let my phone get to 20% before turning the case on. After about 2 hours with the phone off, I was disappointed to see that my charge only went to 80%. I might expect that after a few weeks/months of use that the case would drop to 60% charges. But right off the bat, I was hoping for at least 80%.I bought this for the music festival, Firefly, as the charging stations quickly overrun and an idling car is the only way to charge your phone there. This case will definitely help, but isn't looking as promising as I had hoped. I will update my review as I continue to test it, and after Firefly.
VENDOR SHIPPED COUNTERFEIT MOPHIE BATTERY
October 11, 2012
A friend showed me his Mophie on an Iphone 4 in May and I had to have one. Placed my order immediately with AMAZON and until past week or so have been totally satisfied. In past week when I plug the charger cord in it is wobbly and I had to use scotch tape to tape it in at a proper angle to get it charging. After reading reviews in AMAZON I see this is not a unique problem. Just emailed Mophie with copy of my Amazon invoice of June 2 asking for a replacement. I returned the Mophie battery to Mophie.Mophie checked out the item and concluded it was a counterfeit product. They did not make it. It was shipped by an Amazon Vendor, not directly by Amazon. Mophie sent it back to me and I contacted Amazon and on the 2nd customer person I was satisfied by them sending me direct from Amazon a Mophie that should be the real deal. I returned the counterfeit to Amazon to deal with.
nice case that still needs some work
January 12, 2012
Packaging:Probably the most unique thing about the package is the "Mophie loves you" lettering that you see under the case once you remove it from the package. Nice touch Mophie.Fit and Finish:This case has a nice balance of grip and slickness. Grippy enough to be held comfortably and slippery enough to come out of pockets easily. The edges are rounded and I really like the fact that the volume buttons as well as the on/off/sleep buttons are actually made easier to use by this case because they are on the outside of the case, so no more trying to wiggle your fingers into a case to hit those hard to reach buttons. The opening for the mute switch is large enough, but I have found that I need to use my other hand to toggle the switch. This is not a big deal to me but you should be aware of it.Pros:1. nice white LED's, not those cheap looking blue ones2. feels like something Apple would make (granted it's not metal and glass)3. physical standby switch with a nice red lable for off and green for on4. seems like it would take some of the shock of a drop, but I'm not going to test that5. works on the iPhone 4s6. the speaker hole actually seems to amplify and clarify the sound a bit7. you don't have to use the special Apple charging cable, mini USB is a great way to charge and easy to replace the cable at a much lower price8. slight raised edge around the front of the case to protect the front glass (lay on the table design)9. gave me 6 hours of use just on the Mophie battery itself with 100% of iPhone battery ready to useCons: 1. iPhone 4s flash washes out dark photos with the case on2. price3. headphone jack opening is to small for older larger headphone jacks4. sometimes gives error messages on iPhone when unplugging the unit from the USB charger (with Apple charger and Mophie cord)Usefulness:The iPhone 4s is a very needy phone in the battery department. If you are looking for a case that will make your phone battery last longer with a fair amount of protection. This case should fit the bill if you can overlook the cons above.Would I buy this again? No, if Mophie addresses the concerns above I'd be glad to try the next versionOther Thoughts:Perhaps Mophie should have included a small USB charger given the cost of this item. Please make sure you buy directly from Amazon. I've read many reviews of this item talking about cheap knockoffs being sold by third parties. I'm sure there are some very good third party sellers that offer this case but if you want to avoid the possibility of getting a fraudulent item, get it directly sold and shipped from Amazon.

uNu DX plus iphone 4 charging case
January 3, 2016
I need to be able to remove the phone from the case to dock the phone to various speakers etc. The case is very difficult to remove once the phone is inserted. There is no 30 pin external plug on the case to attach it directly to a docking plug. Also it seems my phone loses power more quickly with the phone case installed than it did when I used no external battery power. This defeats the purpose of the charging case in my opinion. So I returned the charging case and went back to the original non-charging case, and I will use my external RAV charger instead. I do like the external LED's on the back that tell you how much charge remains in the case battery. I would prefer a one piece case which is softer and easier to remove and put on.

September 22, 2014
I loved this uNu Power DX Plus much better than my Moto which died after three years - but after less than a month the uNu extended battery won't charge although it will charge the IPhone. However I needed an extended battery for the phone not just a protective case.
Over priced, Underwelmed
May 24, 2014
Initially I loved this case, got it put my phone in it and it charged immediately! Then came time to charge the case, plugged it in and it just wouldn't charge so, decided well you must have to charge separately so, I attempted to remove my phone from the case and had a little freak out because it wouldn't budge! I actually had to take a butter knife to jimmy my phone free!! Then I plugged the case in to charge and it took 6 hours! What a waste of $39! Only positives are it looks good and does charge your phone but, who wants the hassle of having to remove your phone (and that is difficult) to charge a case for at least 6 hours! Wasted my money :( Over priced, underwelmed!
Semi-serious quality control issues, malfunctioning after 10 days.
May 11, 2014
"Made with state-of-the-art technology, the DX allows users to use any function button with case one, sync and charge with the case equipped, and visualize current battery levels (of the case) via the sky-blue 4-LED battery level indicator."So says the description. 10 days later and I can no longer charge my phone; I have to charge the case, then use that to charge the phone, then charge the case. Very inconvenient. The manual says something about the case having an automatic switch that will allow your phone to charge first, then will switch to charging the case. This was true for 10 days.Quality control is.... lacking. Someone forgot to completely paint the camera lens section of the case silver, and it inexplicably fades to black. The two halves of the case have never really seamlessly fit together. Has a cheap feel to it which I was prepared to overlook, but the other issues just make the package undesirable. Will be returning it shortly.
Try a different brand.
December 2, 2013
Connector failed after 5 months, but it only took about three months to notice a considerable changes in the time it held a charge. Poorly made. Top section comes off too easily and phone slips right out after it. White effect on pictures from the glare flash off of the plastic is a hint of the design quality.
started off great, problems with USB connector
October 3, 2013
The battery life was great, however the MicroUSB charging port did not hold up. My first issue started with having to wiggle the cable, or apply downward pressure to keep the device charging. After about a month the USB guts fell out. As far as a case, it is nice, and the battery life was great when I could charge it.

October 3, 2017
I want to love it, but I do not like the charging port. You cant use the phone while its plugged in because its sticking out the side. It also feels like it will fail quickly. If I do decide to keep it, it will only be used for times when I wont have a charger with me for the day.
Works perfect, when it works
November 18, 2013
I won't bother you with the technical specs of this phone. It was easy to set up, comes with the cable to charge it via USB and that's it. It actually provides decent protection for your phone so that's a plus. After my first full charge that's when I started struggling with this product. It gave me enough extra battery to not worry about it for the entire day and then some. The next day when I plugged it into my computer to charge, it charged up a few minutes and then all of a sudden stopped charging and then started again without moving it at very random moments. After trying very hard to get it to the max I realized in use that it didn't fully charge. Then comes my third attempt at this. Plugged it in and watched it for a while to make sure nothing weird happens, after about 20 minutes I felt pretty confident I could just leave it all night to charge and to my surprise next morning, it was completely discharged.Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I believe that for such a simple thing it should just work out of the box. Returned it shortly after purchasing
Flimsy
December 17, 2012
For the price of this item I expected a much better built unit. I thought by going the more expensive route I would be getting a better quality item. WRONG after using this item for about 2 months I noticed a decline in the charging power. it started out ok but the more I charged it the less it held the charge. The unit is no longer operational due to the flimsiness of the charging port. I did not even drop my phone, I was plugin in the cord into it to charge it and I noticed that I had to hold the connector in so it would charge. if I let it go it would stop charging. I tried another cable thinking the one I was using was bad, same thing happened. then I notice that a little piece of something had fallen out of the charging port. it was the connector inside it that had broken off. so now the unit is useless since there is no way I can charge it anymore.
Great product with issues
May 16, 2012
***UPDATED*** I returned my defective Mophie pack in May and received a replacement. New pack arrived and did not hold the same charge, or provide same life. Today, about 3 weeks into having it, it stopped working althogether. It shows a complete charge on the pack, but will not charge the phone.I love this item, and really wanted it to work, but after 2 of these have failed inside of 5 months, I am looking elswhere.I would love to give this 5 stars, as I have raved about this product to everyone I know. The problem is with the product design, and the resulting issues that many people have posted about. I read the negative reviews, and had figured that it was just some isolated issues. I purchase my Mophie in January, and it stopped working by April. I loved this device, it allowed my phone to call for a full day of constant use with a charge. No need to recharge or turn the phone off, it is extremely useful. The problem is that it only lasted 4 months. The USB cradle on the phone suddenly opened up too much for the USB cable. I have seen many other posts about the same problem. I returned the Mophie and a replacement was sent. I can only hope that this goes beyond 4 months. Apart from this issue, I love this product.
Great battery life and sleek design for extended battery - Unfortunately, poorly designed charge port.
January 18, 2012
I was very anxious to get this case in my hands, as we all know how short of a time span the iPhone gives you with it's battery life. Upon receiving the case, it came with almost a full charge. I plugged it in,let it fully charge, and began my daily use.Weight: It does add a considerable amount of weight to carry around in your pocket all day. I've been using the case for almost a year, and it's not that big of an issue. I've had it in my pocket at work in dress pants, and in jeans/shorts outside of work. Once you get adjusted, the weight is a non-issue.Functionality: The buttons all work well and the battery life indicator at the bottom is a nice-to-have. When using your iPhone camera, the case does not cause issues with pictures. The case design does a decent job at amplifying the sound; better than no case, but I still prefer a sounddock of some sort. The biggest issue I have with the case is the charge port. I am currently on my 4th case. I will admit that the support/shipping of Mophie has been great, but I have to give this product a 2 star rating, simply because of the engineering setback. Even when you try to be careful and gently plug in the cable, the port seems to eventually break loose. If you want to have an awesome case, but only for a year (warranty length), than this product is for you.
Cool with (many) issues
November 3, 2011
I'm redoing my review because I've become soured on the product. The first one (I'm on number 3 now) had the micro usb jack break because it won't contain the power charging cord. The end of the usb cable doesn't go deep enough into the jack for it to get a solid connection and it ends up falling out a lot. Enough of putting the cable back in again and again and the jack is toast. The 2nd one came, after a pretty good RMA process and the usb jack on it was better. The downfall of the 2nd one was it stopped taking a charge and the LED's on the bottom quit lighting up,and it wouldn't charge the phone even with the switch on. Battery #2 goes back to the shop and is replaced again.#3 arrived, and the USB jack has the same issue as #1. A firmware change seems to have happened because the charge lights used to be on when you plugged it in, and now they only come on when you push the button. Not a deal breaker, but it's different. I'm already afraid the bad USB jack will be death of #3, and while I will baby it, you can see the future after 2 failures.Despite the good customer service from the company, the quality issues make it difficult or impossible for me to recommend the product. It holds a lot of promise, but the issues are too numerous for a (at the time I bought it) $100 cell battery. I think I know why the price has fallen $30!Buyer beware!

Only lasted 6 weeks. Can't charge it anymore.

Battery stopped taking a charge 3 days after my return window closed. Worked at 100% up until then with no hiccups. Only lasted about 6 weeks with a recharge every other day as I use my phone online a lot.
Malfunctioned and returned

Battery seemed to charge, but did not allow connection to Iphone or allow charging of Iphone by cord. Would not indicate further charging of case alone. Seems to have been a connection problem. Returned for refund. Not willing to try again.
Useless
December 8, 2015
It seemed to work for a day and then problems occurred. The first day it worked fine. Then it would work on some of my charges but not others. Now it no longer charges the phone when connected to a USB power source. The last couple of days I have to take out the iPhone and charge it separately to charging the power pack.
Terrible Product
October 19, 2015
Product stops functioning after 2 weeks. It will not charge. Besides, it is very difficult to detach iPhone 4 from it. I would not buy it again.
Ask Apple if recent IPhone upgrade made this charger case obsolete.
March 8, 2014
This was probably a good charger case before Apples recent IPhone 4s software upgrade, or so the "Genius Bar" at the Apple store informs me but I bought this case after I upgraded the software in the phone and not only did it not charge my phone but it was depleting the charge my phone had. The charger itself was fully charged at the time too. My IPhone 4s is back in its Otter Box" and the uNu has been returned.
it's what I needed
June 26, 2013
I like the product...alright. The top of the case comes away from the bottom, on occasion. A light touch of hot glue or a very light adhesive works fine to keep it in place. I'm not fond of when you unplug it from the charging cord, it automatically defaults to the charge mode. Also, there are four LED charge indicator lights on the back of the unit, one has never worked. This unit is much thicker than my old Mophie and gives my iPhone the same hour usage. My Mophie was only 1700MAh and this one is rated @ 2400MAh. Something does not jibe. All and all...it's O.K....for the price.06/29/2013-Update: It died. Doesn't charge. Returning immediately.

Newly designed Mophie Case is very bad design indeed
April 15, 2015
The original Mophie case for the Iphone 4S was awesome as the case separated above the center point and would never come apart no matter how many times you dropped your phone, threw it (by accident) or whatever... It was the best thing ever made for protecting and powering your phone. BUT they changed the case now and it separates at the bottom and literally falls off just about... everytime you plug in/out your cable, beware it will pull off the bottom of the mophie case (the power source). Unreal and stinks. I am very very dissatisfied with this new case. I thought it was the original one I had bought two years ago (yes it lasted about that long but the power button on the side finally started flipping out after so many hits to the ground) That switch to turn on/off the juice is actually in a bad spot on both versions of this case, as it is on the bottom left corner so if you drop your phone and it hits that corner... your just asking for the switch to go faulty and stop working right or at all (like it finally did for me). Bottom line, new design of this stinks bad!
$100+ Mophie Stopped working after 6 months. Never buying Mophie product AGAIN.
January 15, 2014
Purchased the juice pack plus outdoor edition and paid over $100 (genuine Mophie product not fake). Stopped working with a "this accessory may not be compatible" with my iphone 4 in about 6 months. Opened a tech support claim and they responded "out of warranty period" (1 year). Asked them if anything else could be done or if they knew why it stopped working, and they replied 'show us a receipt and we will fulfill warranty', rather than answering my questions. Lousy product backed up by even worse customer service; I AM petty enough to waste my own time to make sure I tell everyone I know never to buy a Mophie product. No wonder this case is pulling less than three stars on ratings. Here was the interaction verbatim:From Mophie Tech support:"Thank you for contacting mophie, and creating a case with our technical support department. In order to move forward with your warranty replacement, we will need a copy of your receipt from your purchase of this mophie device. Please reply to this email with either a scanned copy or a photo of your receipt. Please make sure the date of purchase is visible in the file you send to us. Alternatively, if you do not have a copy of your receipt, you can send a clear picture of the product label showing the serial number on the device. Please do not send images of the packaging. If you purchased your item through our website, we can look your order up internally -- if you have not already submitted your mophie order number, please reply to this email with the number."My Reply:Hi,I do not have a receipt so I've attached a picture of the serial number. the address below is correct.Mophie reply:mophie offers warranty coverage for products within one year of purchase under our Limited Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The details you provided to us, however, show that you are outside of the warranty period. We are, therefore, unable to exchange your product for a replacement item.If you are able to locate your receipt which verifies that the purchase was made less than one year ago, please let us know.My reply: as stated in the form I filled out, this was purchased approximately 6 months ago. does the serial number indicate it was purchased more than one year ago? I bought this from what I believed was an authorized retailer ( verizon I believe).I understand if replacement under warranty is not an option. are there any others? or would you be able to speculate as to why the case is no longer charging the phone? this information may inform my decision to purchase another.Mophie reply:The serial number states the device is outside of warranty. If you're able to contact the retail store to obtain a copy of the sales receipt which states otherwise. We can then move forward with the warranty claim.
Counterfeit product
June 12, 2013
Please take care when purchasing these products. I purchased the pack from iSaturn around June of last year and it worked fine. It didn't work amazing, but did allow my husband to go an extra day without charging. About 2 weeks ago the USB port was having issues (connections came loose or something similar) and we could no longer charge the battery. I emailed Mophie with all of the information on my case- in fact, I sent them the serial code on the case and they didn't claim it was non-authentic or anything of the sort (very odd). They paid for shipping and had me send it in to their warehouse since it was still under warranty (yet, the 1-year warranty expired as it was sitting in their warehouse awaiting a check-up). I received this email:"Thank you for sending your product back to mophie for warranty service. We examined the juice pack that you recently returned to our customer care center and have determined that it is not an authentic mophie product.Accordingly, since the product is counterfeit, we cannot replace or repair the product and are sending it back to you. The item shipped to us has been returned to you via U.S. Postal Service. We advise that you request a refund from the seller from whom you purchased the product."So I advise that if you buy a phone case of any sort offline, you should certainly buy it from the official website. Amazon has no way to police counterfeit products. The only reason I purchased this off of Amazon is because I was saving money on shipping- the phone case cost nearly the same on their website. This is VERY common with Mophie cases and other higher-end phone cases and battery packs on Amazon. I am just thankful that the case did serve a function for nearly a year, while others mentioned theirs broke within 2-3 months.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FROM THIS SELLER
May 24, 2013
I bought this case thinking I was getting a great deal, and feeling fairly confident that it was legitimate, since the seller-- u.s.electronix --claims that it is a Mophie brand case. It is not. Mine stopped working after a couple months, and when I sent it in to Mophie for warranty, they told me it was counterfeit.I contacted the seller and he tried to tell me it was not counterfeit, that since I didn't have the original receipt Mophie just said that it was fake. I trust Mophie.I tried to get my money back for this case but the seller avoided and ignored many of my emails, and even replied to one with just a "." (period). I only got a response from them when I went through Amazon customer service to contact them. Then they beated around the bush in several different emails, and finally allowed me to send it back for a refund. I told them to pay for my return shipping too since they screwed me and they agreed.I sent it back through UPS to ensure that it would get back (I've had multiple bad experiences with the sticky fingers over at USPS). I had to pay $12.85 for shipping but I got the tracking number and receipt. In about a week, I got confirmation from UPS that the product had been delivered, and after a week, the money had not been returned to my account. I emailed the seller, and no reply. So I had to go through Amazon customer service again. When the seller responded, he said he had never received my package. Even though I got confirmation from UPS! By then it had been two and a half weeks since the package was confirmed as received. And I was out my original $43.10, plus the $12.85 for the shipping, plus the actual case that I paid for! And meanwhile the seller was sitting pretty with the $43.10 and the counterfeit case in his pocket.I filed an A-Z claim but it was denied because the purchase had been more than 90 days prior. But that is only because the crappy fake product lasted just over 90 days before it broke. I sent another claim that was sent to the investigation team at Amazon, but I still don't know if the seller received any repercussions because the results are kept private. I was offered a $20 promotional gift certificate from Amazon which I said was ridiculous because I had spent $55.95 on a fake product from a seller that Amazon itself authorized. Then I was offered a $30 certificate instead -_______-.I went through a different Amazon customer service rep and was able to get another $15 back in promotional gift certificates, then another rep finally gave me the last $10.95. I never got the cash back to my account, but at least I make a lot of Amazon purchases so I was able to use it. The whole process took me more than a month and a half and many many many emails and chat sessions and phone calls. In the end I got reimbursed through gift certificates but this seller is still sitting pretty!! He still has my money since Amazon is the one that paid me back, and he has the fake case he sold me too.THIS WAS THE WORST BUYER EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! DO NOT BUY FROM U.S.ELECTRONIX!! YOUR PRODUCT WILL BE FAKE AND HE WILL MAKE IT VERY DIFFICULT ON YOU TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!
COUNTERFEIT
March 25, 2013
DO NOT BUY FROM DAILYBUY!!!! It may SEEM like you're spending so very little money for a good product, but you AREN'T! You'll have to dish out on costs to send this back to the seller once you find out that it is a COUNTERFEIT ITEM.My "adventure" with my phony Mophie Juice Pack Plus case began when I received this from my mother as a gift. She had purchased it from DailyBuy. It seemed to work well, with one single complaint--the instructions advised that I should be able to put my phone in the case and never have to take it out to charge it, that I could charge the case directly. This was problem number one. After charging the case, I'd have to remove my phone and plug it back into the case's USB port. But that wasn't a big deal, so I just went on.However, one night a few weeks later, I plugged in the USB cord to the case (just like every night). I woke to find that the case and my phone hadn't been charged all night. I had to jiggle the cord and hold it perfectly to get the case to charge. Mophie supplies a year warranty on all cases, so I sent it in to them. They emailed me two days later with the following email:"Dear Emily,We have examined the juice pack that you recently returned to our customer care center and have determined that it is not an authentic mophie product.Accordingly, we cannot replace or repair the product and are sending it back to you. Your counterfeit unit has shipped back to you via U.S. Postal Service with the tracking number xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxWe advise that you request a refund from the seller from whom you purchased the product....If you would be so kind to forward the contact information of the seller of the product to us, it will help us police the marketplace for counterfeit products. We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your interest in mophie. If you would like to learn more, please visit mophie's counterfeit page."Needless to say, I contacted DailyBuy and requested a refund. I asked that they put the refund on my credit card instead of my mother's and gave them three different options about how to contact me should they not be able to do so. They refunded it to my mother and completely ignored my request. I wish I hadn't already written seller feedback, because they would definitely be getting negative feedback. All in all, dish out that extra $30 and just buy straight from Mophie. It's not worth the hassle and the counterfeit item.

I am disappointed that the black trim around the base of the case is peeling. I keep my phone in a case always and I am not hard on mobile phones. I think this should not be happening to a product that I have only had for four months.
