Five Star Reviews: | 81% Smooth sailing July 18, 2017 I finally treated myself to some "real" tools after being commissioned to make my mom's wedding cake. She despises fondant, and I cringed at the thought of making a buttercream cake because I was worried the icing would come out lumpy and gross. This tool worked great for me, and although it didn't come out perfectly lump-free like fondant would, it was pretty darn close. I will be keeping this tool for future cakes; my only wish is that I had bought one sooner so that I could lend a more professional feel to my cakes. More than I bargained for and happy for it :) July 18, 2016 For some reason I thought it would be smaller...then realized that 12" is one helluva a Icing Spatula. I'm not fond of sheet cakes; never seem like "real cakes" to me. But... LoL this is going to be a perfect moment in that direction and, I will start a new direction for getting creative. Easy to use May 30, 2016 i attempted to make my son a cake for his first birthday ... While I am not much of a baker, this icing spatula made decorating much easier! A Baker's Essential Tool April 20, 2016 This is probably one of the greatest purchases I have made in a while. I bake a lot and have so for about 12 years. I'm actually in the process of opening up my own bakery and I saw this and figured I would give it a shot since the price was right. Man, this spatula is versatile. I've used it for slicing cheesecakes, spooning items as well as icing my cheesecakes and it works flawlessly. When my bakery if fully up and running, I plan on ordering a few more to keep on hand. How did I ever live without an angled frosting spatula? May 28, 2015 Embarrassingly this was my first time using a dedicated cake spatula to frost my cakes. I poured through reviews and couldn't decide on the size to get. Some folks weren't happy with large spatulas while others had problems adapting to smaller spatulas. I purchased this particular spatula based on the reviews and was also under the assumption the metal spatula itself (excluding the handle) was 9" long. What I received was a spatula that is 9" in length *including* the handle. The metal spatula itself is only 3.75"- seems suited more for cupcakes and tiny rounds. That said, I put it t the test and I've successfully frosted several 9" round triple layer cakes in addition to cupcakes and mini cupcakes- it worked perfectly, and just as expected. I wound up having no issues with small size. The angled handle made frosting the cakes feel natural, as if I'd been using it for years, and in no way awkward. I was also able to use it successfully as a crumb layer-scraper. A crumb layer scraper would have been ideal for my high layered cakes as it would have required minimal effort, but this spatula outperformed any substitute device I'd previously used, and in the end, my crumb layer was perfect. I can see a bigger size spatula being more helpful for 9"+ layer cakes, as it would be faster and perhaps a tad easier, but I wasn't racing against a clock and my cakes turned out beautiful. | 62% Durable, Perfect Size plus Tips for perfecting your cake August 10, 2017 I've been using these cake pans for several months. They are high-quality cake pans and are absolutely PERFECT!! Before using them, I watched a few tutorials that Wilton has up on Youtube, to figure out the right amount of batter to use. I highly recommend that you WEIGH out each of your pans with batter EQUALLY, in order to get the best results. Fill the pans up to 3/4, as well. Also, these pans only need to be cooked in a 325 deg oven and for about 15-18 mins. Can't say enough good things about these pans. They come with a few cake recipes, which I've tried and they're delicious!!! Love these pans! August 7, 2016 It really did make it easy to make cake layers. They all fit in my oven at the same time and the teflon coating as well as the shallow depth allowed the cakes to slide out easily. My cake turned out great! I was using it for a "cake smash" ... May 18, 2016 My cake turned out great! I was using it for a "cake smash" with a customer. Perfect! For a 1 year old have a "mini" cake was great, or for a small family, maybe 2 people. After cutting, this would probably have 5 servings. I think its great because we are always on a diet and I don't want a bunch of cake laying around. The pans made it perfect for 1 cake mix, and 2 cans of frosting. Easy to bake, I baked on 350 for 15 minutes and it turned out so moist. I cannot wait to bake another cake. I would buy this product 10 more times! Truly easy and loved the result! October 6, 2015 I used this pan set to make a rainbow cake for my twins first birthday and we all loved how it turned out! Other than the extra frosting for the layers, this set made it very easy, had a big impact, and was easy to clean. The pans seem small at first, but once you add the frosting and begin layering, it's the perfect size. With the extra frosting, you can serve smaller pieces to the same satisfaction as a larger cake. I used my own recipe, which fit perfectly at about 1 cup of batter per pan. To fill layers and frost the outside, I doubled my frosting recipe. It didn't give directions or suggestions for coloring batter, but I mixed mine directly in the pan and baked for about 18 minutes with success. Gel coloring made the most vibrant layers. To have a nice flat topped cake, I left each layer in the pans, skimmed off any dome in the cake with a bread knife using the edge of the pan as my guide and flipped the top most layer upside down before frosting. Can't wait to try new combinations and recipes with this set! Awesome set for cakes, pizzas, and more! July 13, 2015 This set is awesome! Each pan is only 6" in diameter and less than 1" high, but despite their seemingly small size, it still produces plenty of cake (one box mix fills all five pans). This pan set is also great for other things in addition to cake. My kids have a great time making their own personal size pizzas using these pans. I have also used these to make small quiches. Great pan set! Highly recommend! Perfect February 26, 2015 Perfect for the new ombre cakes. Makes it easy to make them without having to wait for the first layers to get done or having to cut layers in half. They did all fit in my oven at one time by carefully arranging. |
Four Star Reviews: | 12% I can't say "I love it, " simply because I am not that ... January 3, 2017 I can't say "I love it," simply because I am not that committed to an icing spatula. I will say that it has served its purpose nicely, and is not showing any signs of decay. It is a nice simple icing spatula. It is decorative kitchen utensil, but a practical durable one. So if you are looking for something cute to go with your multicolored knives set, brightly colored Dutch Oven, etc. then this isn't that. Works June 10, 2016 Works well so far. Seems pretty sturdy and well made. I puchased to make homemade fruit roll ups and i needed something to help smooth it out in the pan. So far no issues Angle Icing Spatula, was surprise how big it was ... January 21, 2016 Angle Icing Spatula, was surprise how big it was. A little difficult to use at first. but it's okay. Wish they made one a little smaller. Well built and sturdy. I have various spatulas from stainless steel to ... March 28, 2015 Well built and sturdy. I have various spatulas from stainless steel to silicon and simple plastic. The silicon and plastic don't offer an offset blade. I own a large angled spatula for cake icing/decoration and wouldn't be without one. This small version with this same deviation to a blade alignment really helps to make covering a cupcake with icing to simple application of mustard on a ham and cheese. The smaller spatula is easy to clean and appears to be sturdy. Time will tell | 15% Nicely made pans August 11, 2017 I was so disappointed when I saw the tins and figured they would be useless. Bought it fora baking class I'm taking and had no choice but to use them. They were easy to use and my cake turned out awesome. The size really scared me but it was so worth it. Being a first timer, it was a good experience. I would have liked a little more guidance in the directions for using ... August 5, 2017 I would have liked a little more guidance in the directions for using box cake mixes. To have less doming (which you have to cut off to stack) cook at a slightly lower temperature. First successful layer cake March 18, 2017 I'm not a novice baker, but I've never managed to make a successful layer cake before buying this pan. With it, I was able to make an adorable 4-layer cake for my daughter's birthday party. Do pay attention to the diameter of the cakes -- this won't make a huge cake. But, the pans really were easy to work with, and made baking a layer cake so much easier than I ever imagined. The pans nest and fit into the box for easy storage, and have a slight lip to make them easier to get into & out of the oven. nice layer cake pans May 30, 2016 Have made several layer cakes using this pan set. Have made two rainbow cakes which were very cute. The only thing I didn't like is that the sides of the pans are slightly rounded and that makes stacking the cakes a bit harder.I discovered that even though the pans are non-stick and I sprayed them with Pam flours spray, the cakes tend to stick to the bottom. If you turn them upside down in the pan on your hand and give the cake a slight turn, they come out in one piece. I love that these stack for easy storage May 2, 2016 I love that these stack for easy storage!! My only criticism is that I wish they were a little deeper. They claim to hold the same amount as a regular cake mix, but I was left with lots of leftovers....I did make my cake from scratch, so perhaps this caused the discrepancy, but I haven't had this issue with other cake pans. Ultimately, I'm pleased with this purchase and I'm sure I will use them again and again. I'm looking forward to honing my layered cake skills :) Adorable little pans April 25, 2016 These are the most adorable little (6 in) pans! Easy to use and clean and works as advertised. Stacked without trimming. Very enjoyable experience with these! |
Three Star Reviews: | 4% but I was disappointed. It's made in China April 6, 2017 It says origin Japan, but I was disappointed. It's made in China. | 9% Using 1/2 a cake recipe in 3 pans makes a good size cake for 2 people October 22, 2017 These pans are really handy. Using 1/2 a cake recipe in 3 pans makes a good size cake for 2 people. The only down side is the corners of the pan ar3 very rounded making it more like a bowl than a pan. Very small. Did not use cause of size. June 27, 2017 Very small. Did not use cause of size. Keith it because I know I may use it on the future High five for baking cakes! December 21, 2016 I bought these to make personal cakes. I do not understand the reviews complaining about the size of the pans because it clearly states they are 6 inches. The gauge of the metal and type seem to be of good quality. I did return these, however, because there is no clean, sharp edge. Instead, it is curved. Despite this, I tried using them but the layers did not stack well. I wish I had known this before ordering so I decided to submit a review. High five for baking cakes! Great for smash cakes. August 6, 2016 The pans are very short. This does not make a huge cake but a good size for a smash cake. This cake had 4 layers. Not sure... June 14, 2016 It seems to be a helpful tool.. I'm not sure about the sides cause are bit rounded..Be aware about the size. This is for small cakes |
Two Star Reviews: | 1% Small January 18, 2017 Cheap and smaller than it seems and than it describes. 9 inches is not the blade size. Just not good to me September 28, 2016 Just not good to me .Mainly because of the way it fits in my head . Too hard to work with. Wrong description for 9" spatula June 9, 2016 The 9" spatula description clearly states that the blade is 1.5" wide. The one I received is barely .75" (3/4"). Not what I wanted. Would probably cost more to send it back than it's worth. I did give 2 stars because it's well made but for me it's just another addition to my junk drawer. Title is deceptive, but it still worked out. April 7, 2016 The title is misleading; it's 9 inches from handle to end of the angled spatula. The only other offset spatulas I'd seen showed the blade length (which is actually about 4.5" of functional surface area). I already had a 4.5" offset spatula, so upon receipt of this one I was pretty disappointed because I was hoping for a large one for big surfaces. Turns out that having two 4.5" offset spatulas is a pretty nice luxury, though. 2/5 stars because I literally didn't need it and was expecting it to be a 9" spatula blade, but I'll still use it anyway. | 7% Two Stars July 30, 2017 Edges were rounded making it difficult to stack multiple layers without a "sagging" look Like being able to do multiple thin layers but if ... July 17, 2017 Like being able to do multiple thin layers but if your cake is not dense, they may crumble easier. I did not get even tiers at pan level & had to use my 2" deep pans instead for my project. Too Small/Thin! January 21, 2017 These are VERY small. Each pan is very shallow....approx 1/2" or less deep. By time you level cake there is hardly anything left. I waited to long to open so I can not return it. Rounded Edge not flat June 28, 2016 I wasnt happy with the rounded edges on the product. Also if your oven isnt perfectly level these pans are so thin that you get like a pancake thick layer to work with. So basically i need to level my oven, and find taller more shored up edged pans. Don't buy these pans May 22, 2016 I got these to make a rainbow birthday cake for a good friend of mine and was really disappointed to see the pans when they arrived. The pans aren't shaped like proper baking pans, as the sides aren't straight, which means you'd have to be an expert to smoothly ice a cake using the layers these pans would make. They are also very small and shallow, so it wouldn't be possible to make a tall impressive cake like I wanted to make with these. So instead I ended up running all over town at the last minute trying to find 6 proper cake pans in one size, which was no easy task. Cake turned out great, but no thanks to this pan set. Easy bake oven size April 20, 2016 Make sure you check the size very cute for kids but you definitely can't make this for mor then a few people |
One Star Reviews: | 2% Rusted when not washed right away. August 3, 2017 The last time I used it I did not clean it right away. It was in an empty sink overnight. When I picked it up to wash it, the bottom side was covered with rust spots. Now there are permanent marks on it. That was probably my fault, but nothing else of mine has ever rusted. I will look for another product. 9" and 13" are over all length not blade length. August 20, 2016 Please note: 9" and 13" are for over all length and not blade length. Kind of disheartening to realize this in hand and not seeing this in online discription. Description didn't say on 13" size the blade length and I was thinking a 9" was needed and didn't notice in discription. This is not the 12" spatula you are looking for December 29, 2015 It is small. The 12" length in the description is the overall length with handle and the metal part. Do not buy if you are looking for a longer spatula bending it back leads to an even weaker more useless spatula. February 18, 2015 Unfortunately, this spatula is not constructed with the same thicker steel as the old models were. The thin steel flexes and bends making this spatula ineffective at spreading all but the thinnest of icings/frostings. Once the spatula is bent, bending it back leads to an even weaker more useless spatula. I was grossly disappointed when i received this item February 10, 2015 I was grossly disappointed when i received this item. This spatula is very small and flimsy...worst Wilton product I've purchased!! | 7% More bowl than pan. September 4, 2017 These nest which saves on storage space. Big mistake. These are curved at the bottom result in a much different edge profile of the cake than depicted in the photograph. Quite simply the resulting cake layers are round at the edges rather than flat. Not for the product I had hoped for. You Get What You Pay For August 13, 2017 These pans are super shallow and small. I did line the bottom with parchment paper, to make it easier to get the cakes out. Still, it made frosting these a total nightmare. I had to go out to Bed Bath and Beyond, when I went to town, and buy 2- 8 inch cake rounds, because I am not messing with these again. Sadly, going in the Church Rummage sale. I do not recommend these at all. This product was a complete disaster. The pans aren't ... June 6, 2017 This product was a complete disaster. The pans aren't properly level so the cakes weren't level. The whole thing collapsed, once we added the frosting. I would return this product, if I could. Used once and find that since the cake layers are ... May 29, 2016 Used once and find that since the cake layers are very thin, you get a much dryer product. Gave away to Goodwill. They chip! December 5, 2015 Terrible. I used these once to bake a cake for my one year olds birthday and the non stick coating started chipping off immediately after first use. I threw them out along with the cake. Never again! |
