April 20, 2017
Update to my original review. I was contacted by customer service after they read my review. They not only apologized for any inconvenience, but the replaced the clock with a different model free of charge. And this kind gesture was done without me ever asking them to give me a refund, or to replace the clock. This is what great customer service is all about, and I sincerely thank them for that.I'm a little disappointed. I haven't had this very long and now the alarm clock is going completely wackadoole! Set it for 4:00 am, when the alarm was supposed to go off, the screen went completely white and started making a wierd droning buzz sound that wouldn't stop no matter what I did.(yes I'm a blond, but not a stupid one.) The noise wasn't the usual beeping I hear when the alarm goes off. I had to take the batteries out to shut it up. :( back to using my Iphone as an alarm for now.
Great seller and great clock
April 2, 2017
I bought this clock for my bathroom. I wanted a battery-operated clock that would be visible in the dark. With my old clock, you had to hit a button in order for it to light up -- kind of hard to do in the dark. This clock lights up -- but softly -- in the dark. It is exactly what I was looking for. Also, I had an issue with the plastic covering on the clock when I first received it and contacted the seller to see if there was a trick to removing it (you never know -- and I had never had a problem removing plastic before on anything). Seller immediately offered to replace the clock, which I was happy to accept. Extremely pleased not just with the clock but with the customer service too.
get the model with the adjustable backlight
October 19, 2016
Update: With absolutely no hassle the company gladly sent me a different model with an adjustable backlight. The new clock is easy to see at night without lighting up the room, and I can't say enough about their customer service. Some people may be awed by all the features of the alarm clock but for me it's too much. It's a nice idea, but each button has 2-3 functions depending on what combination of buttons you're pressing. The backlight is WAY too bright. You could use it as a flashlight at night. This is definitely not a clock that can be placed in a bedroom. The light sensor is a good idea that could help with the light problem, but when the backlight goes out and it's dark in the room, you can't read the clock.
Perfect clock.

I love this model of alarm clock. We bought our first one on May 18, 2016 and a second one on August 14, 2016.The display is huge and easy to read. The alarm time is always shown in the upper right, which means I can go to bed with a glance at the clock, instead of having to grab it and press a button to check that it's set for the correct time. The display illuminates with a soft white light, all the time, which seems like magic in a battery-powered clock. Also, awesomely, there is a switch to turn off the continuous backlight (it still lights up if you touch it). The one in the bedroom I turn off the continuous light so it doesn't disturb my sleep; we have a second one in a TV area where the continuous backlight makes it readable when watching TV at night. The display also shows the date and the temperature (in Fahrenheit or Celsius). The temperature matches the thermometer I already had in my bedroom, so I believe it to be accurate. The controls on the back are straight forward.

Great product, been looking for a digital travel clock that would illuminated in the dark. Happen to stay at the Best Western in Kowloon, Hong Kong where these clocks were in the rooms. They listed it for sale and to talk to the front desk for purchase, but front desk did know anything. An Amazon search yielded this unit which was exactly the same, but with a ZHPUAT logo. Unsure about battery life as mine is new. Easy to read in a really dark room with it's light auto backlit screen and light sensor. Little hard to see during daytime, really needs good external lighting to read easily. Wish it was thinner for traveling and packing. Display is too light with 1.2 vdc rechargeable batteries, works best with standard batteries. Easy to set time/date, keeps good time and temperature sensor is great too. Highly recommended. Pics from Hong Kong.
Pleased customer, nice little clock.

I just got this yesterday so I can't comment on battery consumption, but I like that there is no cord to bother with. The numbers are nice and big, easy to read and the it gives off a soft glow in the dark which doesn't disturb my sleep, I like being able to just glance over and see the time instead of fumbling for a light. The alarm is plenty loud enough to wake me up and it's not hard to set. I suppose the temperature is accurate but that really doesn't matter to me since I just wanted an alarm clock and that's what I got, so far I am very satisfied with it.UPDATE ON BATTERY USAGE: I have now replaced the batteries after six months of use, of course some brands will last longer than others but this gives you a general idea, this clock does not have an internal battery backup, so after replacing the batteries you will need to reset the clock, but I really don't mind that.

Digital clock radio. Battery backup. Really bright display. Really works. I like it.
June 27, 2017
Wow! Did I ever need this. I suffered along with an old analog clock radio for several years until I finally had had enough and got this one. Wow! What a difference. It is so nice. All digital. All automatic. Battery backup. So nice. It's true, the blue lights light up the whole room. I put my pillow over the thing when I go to bed at night. No big deal. I like it.

June 8, 2017
At first glance I thought it was a cheaply made clock since I had another Emerson clock that's much heavier. But it zipped right to the current time and date when I plugged it in which is a major plus since I hate clocks to fidget with the time. The blue numbers have three settings which is great if the light disturbs your sleep. It also has a USB charger which lets you charge your phone before you go to bed. Really like this clock and the price is right!
A Great Clock Radio if you are on a budget.
January 2, 2017
I really like the Alarm Clock Radio, only complaint I have is with the instructions, they could save just a little more money by printing it just a wee smaller, my goodness, I had to break out my major magnifying glass just to be able to decipher what button to push to get the results I wanted. I really like the Smart Set, a feature that is needed to help you set your clock after a power outage, or when you first set it up. The Numerical display is really large and can be easily seen at night. It has a USB charging port, but the port does not charge very quickly, some of my devices even tell me to use another charging station. All in all, a very nice Clock Radio.
Great clock radio - easy to set up and use!
October 18, 2016
Great radio! Easy to set up including my right time zone. I do not find the blue numbers too bright at all, three different levels. Easy to set the alarms once you read the directions and do it a couple of times. Radio quality good. Came promptly, well packed. I had to return a different brand becuz the buzzer was too soft. This buzzer alarm starts softly but builds and is loud enuf to wake me up. Good clock radio for the money! Very pleased.
Good little clock.
April 6, 2016
I love these clocks, especially their self-setting feature. I had an older version that started getting off by 5 or 6 minutes, and the time zone was all screwed up when they changed the date for daylight savings... so I got this new version. The blue numbers are not too bright or distracting for me, but it is all the way across the room as the numbers are large enough to station the clock further away.I do recall the daylight savings hour changing being at least a few days off, though, but it righted itself eventually!
All the features I wanted!
October 25, 2015
I finally decided to replace the Emerson clock radio I've had for years that is programmed for the old daylight savings dates. This is the only one I found with the features I wanted--mainly to have one alarm time for weekdays and a different time for weekends. The auto setting and auto daylight saving setting is great too. Big bonus for this one, the radio is GOOD. (The radio on my old one is crap.) It is easy to read the clock without my glasses on, but as others have mentioned it is a bit too bright. I will probably put something over the front to dim it a little bit.

Love the earlier model - this one isn't working after 2 months. But they sent me a new one.
April 26, 2017
I bought an earlier version of this clock and absolutely love it. This one is totally different. It still runs but all of a sudden it starts making loud buzzing sounds and goes back to 12:00 when you pick it up to stop the sound. Very very strange but would really like to try another one since the first one is so darn good! And yes, it has a weird viewing angle. My older one is better on that as well.Edited to add that customer service contacted me immediately and I've received the replacement, which is GREAT customer service. This one works like like my first one so I love it again! The customer service on this product could not have been better.
Fantastic clock for the price!
January 3, 2017
This clock was a fantastic deal & exactly what I was looking for! I needed something I could quickly see at night for my nightstand. This is a great size, color is nice, & display is easily visible night or day. Backlight is not blinding and stays lit for a few seconds, easy to see everything I need. Previous reviews noted that there were issues with the display showing incorrectly (part of the # is missing, etc), I don't have that issue. While the #s and details show perfectly (day & night) on mine, the internal am/pm time is not right. I just switched the am/pm to make my life easier (1:00 AM would show as 13:00)! It was pretty funny when I realized it. I do not use this as an alarm clock so I cannot comment on that part of it.Despite the am/pm thing (cracks me up actually), I would definitely buy more of these clocks if needed. For the amount I paid, I have absolutely no complaints at all :)No this was not a freebie product for me....
A better travel clock than a room clock.
November 10, 2016
The LCD background is on the dark side so the contrast is not as good as I hoped. This clock has a darker background, so the numbers don't really jump out as they see to in the on-line picture. So it turned out to be less useful as a room clock than I had hoped. That said, it proved to be a good travel clock. It's a little larger than I would like, but it's very light, and I love that it has the background illumination, so I can see it at night, although the light is bright enough that I put it on the floor - out of direct line of sight. As a benefit, looking down makes the number more readable, which is often the case with LCDs.

This is an updated review for ZHPUAT 4.6 (See link below), a newer model that I received from the manufacturer after I wrote about the disappointing experience with the original ZHPUAT clock. (See original review below as well.)Happy to report that the new clock works and there's a third level to the low light function.ZHPUAT 4.6" Digital Alarm Clock with Smart Controllable Backlighthttps://www.amazon.com/product/dp/B01LC88VZE====Disappointed with this clock. In the beginning I thought it was okay for the price; I wasn't too fond of the low light which wasn't low light enough for me. (My solution was to place the clock facedown before I went to sleep.) Then one day it stopped working less than three weeks after purchase. And guess how I found this out? Being woken up early in the morning by a LOUD, persistent buzzing sound that I was unable to shut off (none of the buttons were responding....) until I tossed out the batteries. The clock has stopped displaying any numbers, just the backlit/low light screen. The buzzing sound starts up again anytime I put the batteries back in. I'm requesting a refund.
I saw this on Amazon and thought it was perfect based on the description
July 12, 2016
Can't believe I'm about to give a detailed review of an alarm clock, but here goes nothing. First, I don't use this as an alarm clock. I just wanted something for my bathroom that lit up so I could see what time it was at night... Or something along those lines. I saw this on Amazon and thought it was perfect based on the description. But I'm still a little disappointed. Let's start with the build quality. It's not bad. I mean, this is a real cheap basic clock, and it's made of cheap lightweight plastic, however it does seem study and the buttons on the back felt firm. So I'm happy with the quality of this. And I like that it shows the temperature in the room, though I wouldn't expect accuracy from it. I haven't paid too much attention to it but it didn't seem to be correct. It said it was 84 in my kitchen, downstairs. It couldn't have been more than 75 at most, and that's being generous. And I like that the lettering is big. Unfortunately, this is where it starts to go downhill. It's virtually impossible to read the clock in daylight. The back of the clock is like a dark gray, which makes the black text hard to read. The black isn't very pigmented. And during the day, you can see the "rest of the clock" if you are not looking DIRECTLY at the clock from a straight angle. Does that make sense? Like how you can see the 88:88 on these types of clocks when they are turned off? That's basically what you see if you are looking at the clock from a side view. It is difficult to read the clock as is during the day, let alone from a side view. It gets worse from there, however. At night, it is even more difficult to read from side views. It is almost impossible to see what time it is unless you are looking straight at the clock right in front of it. If you have the auto light enabled, when it gets dark out, the backlight will light up very very slightly. It is not very bright at all. Probably to save battery, but I would have greatly prefered it to be a bit brighter. You can tap the snooze button at the top and it makes the light light up fully at top brightness, but it only does that if you press that button - otherwise it stays dimly lit. The main issue though is with the viewing angles for me. If you're planning on putting the clock in a place that won't be directly right in front of you, or if you're expecting to use this as a clock for a room where you can see what time it is from any angle, this clock isn't for you. I guess it isn't really something you think about when buying a clock like this, but you should know this before buying it. I won't be returning this clock or anything, and as far as actual usage is concerned it was very easy to set everything up. I'm just severely disappointed in my ability (or lack thereof) to actually see what time it is. And that's what I wanted.. It's a clock!Update: After leaving this review, Zhpuat contacted me via email to address my concerns. They asked me if they could send me a new black clock, because they thought maybe the one I had received was defective - and I agreed, so they went ahead and did that. Didn't ask me to send the other one back, either. I turned it on, now maybe it's just me, but the new one I received is possibly marginally better than the old one. However, compared to the white one that I bought at the same time, the white one still has better viewing angles and a brighter light. The white clock has a bit more of a whiter hue to it, while the black one is a bit dimmer and slightly blueish with its backlighting. The text on the white clock is also darker and easier to read. I did not purchase the blue colored clock, so I can't comment on that particular one. Kudos for this company actually contacting me trying to make my slight issue correct. I was pleasantly surprised that they did this, so thanks Zhpuat!Final thoughts: This clock is definitely worth purchasing. However, if you want the best viewing angles and best light, buy the white one if it makes no difference to you. The black one is fine, however the lighting and viewing angles are not as good.

All it says it is. Get all the features you might want in an alarm clock, or any clock and a few more. It does sense the light levels and adjusts to them or you can turn off the backlight completely. For the cost it is really nice. Simple to set up and so far very reliable. You could pay more for similer models but I doubt they would be much better. Though it is a battery only clock it is still nice to have as it is a perfect back up when there are power outagaes or you are traveling, Nice clock at an affordable price and worth a look.

Great Clock
September 9, 2017
Love that it resets itself.Good size (see dimensions listed on this page).VERY BRIGHT. I don't mean, "Well, it's a little, bright, isn't it, dear." I mean, "Wow! That's bright. You got anything over there to throw over it until morning?" We had to put it face down on the nightstand while we awaited the Dim It Light Dimming Sheets, which we did not order at the same time.Check the "customers also bought" section to get these valuable additions.Easy to set up. 5 star product now that we've addressed the brightness issue.
Does what it needs to do.
July 30, 2016
I like the fact that you do not need to set this clock on set up or after power failures. It does have a battery for power failures which was not mentioned in the description. I needed to read the instructions well to understand the functions of the buttons which have two functions for each button so that was a little confusing. I was worried that the light would be too bright but the high setting is fairly dim and the low setting is quite dim which is what I like. On the dim setting you can not see the time from across the room in the daylight but that does not concern me. The audio quality of the radio speaker is not great but I don't plan to use it except possibly as a wake up alarm so it is fine. All in all I am happy with the purchase.
Easy to use, but too bright
June 11, 2016
Very easy to set , my only complaint is that it is very, very bright, even on low it really lights up the room. I had to put a towel over it to block the light. I WISH, wish, wish someone would make a clock that you can turn OFF the display, make it either voice activated or touch activated light. There are many of us who can't stand any light in the room when we try to sleep.
Great, affordable clock
June 1, 2016
I'm really surprised by the number of poor reviews here. This clock looks great. The blue display has several settings including one that is very dim. It has a usb port on the back for charging other items. As soon as I plugged it in, it automatically set the date and time. The only reason I am deducting one star is that the alarm/radio is not easy to figure out. We put this in our guest room and if someone want to set the alarm, they are going to have to read the instructions. It is not intuitive. It would be nice if they added a couple more buttons for setting the alarm and controlling the radio. Otherwise, this is a great clock radio.
It was easy to figure out how to work the different features ...
March 18, 2016
The physical item itself feels very cheap but it serves it's purpose. It was easy to figure out how to work the different features after reading the directions. I like the fact that you can set a timer for the radio to turn off while you go to sleep. I bought this clock for my son and he wanted to listen to music while he laid down to go to sleep at night. It's perfect to be able to set the timer for the music to turn off after an hour and then the alarm goes off in the morning to wake him up. The option to have 2 alarms is also nice, especially to set one to a radio and one to a buzzer or both to one or the other. The alarm definitely starts out very quiet and eventually gets louder. It's not so startling!
Great quality for a low price
August 28, 2015
The radio was packaged very nicely, setting it up was a little bit difficult but nothing that couldn't get figured out doing it slowly. The radio quality and volume is very respectable, volume level is from 1–16. The digital tuning part is so useful compared to having to guess on the old-fashioned kind like tuning it with a little bar on station. I would recommend this clock to any of my friends if they're looking for a good quality low-price dual alarm/radio clock

Besides being little bulky (for the travel size) the time/date/alarm is easy to set
March 29, 2017
This is my second week using this clock prior to my cruise trip. The clock is okay. Besides being little bulky (for the travel size) the time/date/alarm is easy to set. The Alarm sound does not work for me my clock (probably the piece I received is defective). The back light works really well if you have the sensor ON and has a right amount of brightness in dark (wont's blind you if you wake up in the middle of the night). The over all clock body is flimsy. I give 3 star since the main purpose (alarm) is not working for my clock.
Terrible quality
January 15, 2017
As others have mentioned, worked fine for a couple of months and then all we got was a blue screen. Took the batteries out and reinstalled, got slowly fading random characters in the blue screen. Spend your money on something else.Edit 1/17/17: shortly after my review the seller contacted me via email and asked whether I wanted a replacement or refund, and I chose refund which he promptly processed. I increased my rating to 3 stars due to great customer service.
my bad. But it turned out I didn't need it ...
December 23, 2016
I opened it a year after I purchased it, my bad. But it turned out I didn't need it at the time of purchase (my phone got fixed pretty quickly, which is what I use for my alarm everyday). This time my phone is a complete goner which means I had to bring out my alarm clock to be up on time but the alarm doesn't work, and neither does the light. I'm asking friends and family members to call me on my home phone so I'm up on time tomorrow. Really sad state of affairs.EDIT 12/31: As soon as I posted the above review, I was contact by the seller asking if I wanted a replacement clock sent for free. I took them up on it and it arrived today in working condition. I actually have a clock that lights up and beeps for an alarm now, yay! I give them 5 stars for the excellent customer service but 3 stars for the quality of the product. The batteries are a hassle to put in (and take out). This new clock that I was sent has a display that looks better at certain angles. Not very helpful. But again excellent customer service!
It's okay.
October 30, 2016
Update Nov 8th - Clock is working again after installing a different brand of fresh batteries. Turns out there wasn't enough voltage to run the LCD display but it was enough for LCD backlight so it appeared as if the clock wasn't working. A low battery signal would be helpful. Accept that it was our misunderstanding but a low battery signal or better user instructions such as a sticker on back of the product would have avoided the issue.------------------------------------------------------------------Bought it on Sept 8 and it is ready to be trash today Oct 30. Display gave up. Just stays white and the numbers do not show. Tested with new batteries too. I am so disappointed.
Loved it, displayed a bunch of stuff
September 11, 2016
Bought this about a month ago. Loved it, displayed a bunch of stuff, light sensor, worked great. My son knocked it off the nightstand (not even a 2 foot drop) and now it's on the fritz. Making a loud shrieking noise and no display- even if you replace the batteries it continues to act this way. Pretty upset at this aspect since he used to throw a cheap $5 Walmart one around the room without it doing anything like this. I think it should be able to withstand an accidental drop.
It's okay.
May 25, 2016
It's all there as advertised. Big bold face clock that you'll have no problem seeing from across the room. Easy to program as well. Now for what I don't like.Three batteries! Why three? There is more than enough room for a fourth battery yet it's three. Do you know how hard it is to find batteries bundled in multiples of three at any store? Two: yes, Four: of course. Eight: quite common. Six: maybe depending on what type they are. Want to buy rechargeable batteries? Forget it. Four or eight and that's it. And you know you'll loose one or two somewhere when you need that one odd battery.Night sensor is too bright for my tastes. I have to look the other direction if I want to fall asleep fast. I'd gladly pay extra for a dimmer control for that night sensor. The alarm itself is annoyingly loud. Not all alarms are the same and some can get the job done without blasting you out of bed. I live in the woods, so it's quiet and something sharing the volume of a whisper will work just fine for me. Apparently the manufacturer feels that an alarm that can wake you up next to an interstate is a one size fits all solution. It isn't. Again, I'd pay extra just for a volume control.Plastic case is sturdy and solid feeling, but the alarm clock itself is light and has a tendency to slide around on the night stand as you try to slam your fist on it to get it to shut up as it's blaring at you. This product was certainly headed in the right direction as it was being designed, but it stops short of being a really great product.

its not easy to figure out which time zone you are - ...
July 10, 2017
The clock messes up AM and PM - so watch out when setting your alarm, and when you plug it in, even thought it says that it sets itself - make sure you check what year it says. I unplugged mine yesterday and when I plugged it back in, the clock thought it was 2012. I also find that you have to set your time zone, so without reading through the booklet, its not easy to figure out which time zone you are - unless you set it and just see what time it is after selecting the zone. The one thing with this clock that REALLY makes me miss my old clock is the fact that daylight savings time doesn't just adjust itself - my last clock had that feature - it was great. Oh, and everyone talks about the brightness - even when on dim, IT IS really bright.
It is basically a good alarm clock
May 2, 2017
It is basically a good alarm clock. However, I returned it because we did not like the display. There were 2 major problems for us. First, the dim setting is too dim and the bright setting is too bright at night. But mainly the numbers are too close together horizontally, making it difficult to read across the room at night. This is particularly problematic with the digit that is to the left of the colon, and especially if that number is a "1". It blends in so close to the colon that it is difficult to distinguish the time. We could likely have lived with the display brightness issue, but combined with the close spacing of the numbers, it just didn't work for us.
I have an older version of this that I loved. I love that it resets itself
September 29, 2016
I have an older version of this that I loved. I love that it resets itself, has a battery back up and has two different alarm settings. However, the buttons started sticking and I thought it was time to upgrade. I wanted one just the same. I'm seriously thinking about using my old one again. This is fine, it works, I'm just not a fan. The blue light is bright! I have it on the lowest setting and it lights up my entire bedroom. If it's facing you, which is the point of a clock to me, it shines really bright in your eyes. In the daylight, you can barely see it though. The buttons are ok, but the one to turn off the alarm is too small and in a weird place. I fumble with it every morning and I've had it for a while now. It's awkward trying to set it because the two buttons are right beside each other. It works, but I wish they didn't have to change it entirely from the older version.
Some nice features but difficult to use
December 19, 2015
I like this clock for my purpose. I wanted a dim green display for the bedroom where my wife does not like any light when sleeping. I gave this three stars because I would not be too happy with it otherwise. It does have some nice features such as the time is retained in a power outage and you can set the alarm for Mon- Friday only, or a second for Sat & Sunday only. But my two negative issues: 1. The display is not bright, even on high or bright it can barely be read in a well lit room. On the dim setting it can only be read in a in a pretty dark room. (again this was a plus for my special situation, but most people probably won’t like it). 2. The controls are anything but easy to use. They are not intuitive at all. I am a retired engineer who builds computers and it took me 5 to 10 minutes with the poorly written instructions to figure out how to use it. I have stayed in many motels and always use the little alarm clocks and never had an issue setting the time or alarm on any small clock radio until I encountered this one. As it is, the buttons on the top each serve dual or triple functions and not clearly labeled. The first time I quickly tried to set the alarm at bed time without the instructions, I gave up after several minutes of fiddling around and used my smart phone alarm instead. In order to set the alarm for a simple wake up the next morning I had to read the instructions and also do some trial and error, because the instructions are not clear. Don’t even think about this clock for motel rooms, a guest bedroom, grandma, or anyone not tech savvy if you expect them to set the alarm. For one user like me, once you figure it out it isn’t bad. But even for me, since I am retired and only set the alarm on occasion, I will keep the instructions nearby.
LIGHT IS VERY BRIGHT
October 23, 2015
Just got this clock yesterday... so far it seems to be o.k. The size is good. The only really bad thing is that oh my gosh, the light is bright even on dim. I had to put a towel over it for the night. Its way too bright for a clock for a bedroom. IF I can find something to cover the light - maybe some kind of film to put over the clock, I will keep it otherwise, this clock might be heading back to be returned.I like the way the clock sets itself for the time in case of power outage (or if you unplug the clock for some reason), its easy to set, etc.I would send this back but I've already spent an additional $8 on dimming sheets and would have to pay another $7 for shipping.I have 2 layers of dimming sheets and its still too bright!
This company has put out much better products in the past
November 9, 2014
This company has put out much better products in the past. I purchased this because my long time smart set alarm had stopped working after many, many years. I wanted one just like it but discovered they no longer made clocks that even remotely looked the same. Since I wanted another clock that reset itself when the time shifts forwards or backwards, I went ahead and purchased this. It is a very light weight plastic clock. Not much quality to it. I went ahead and got this one even though others had complained about the brightness of the blue light. They were right, it was way too bright for me to be able to sleep with it in the same room, it completely lit up the room. I tried for two nights and couldn't take it any longer so I moved it into the family room where I needed a glow in the dark clock and it works good in there. I ended up buying an older clock similar to the one I had off of ebay. That one had a dimmer switch for the clock light that this one is missing.

Doesn't Keep Accurate Time
November 2, 2017
This clock has big numbers and lots of settings. Very easy to read. Great design but it is worthless:If a clock doesn't keep accurate time then what is the point in owning it? That is the ONE thing it is supposed to do. After about a month this clock will be running 2-3 minutes fast. I have tried different batteries and they are not the issue. Unless you want to re-set this clock every month or you want a clock that estimates the time pass on this item.

October 15, 2017
Its been two years now. Since I bought it, it loses about 5 minutes/week. So every two weeks its 10 minutes behind. I was hoping it would fix itself but it hasn't. I never had a clock that kept such bad time. Plus i had to slap it a few times on the side to get the display to show all of its little legs and arms otherwise it just looked like a bunch of broken sticks. This morning at 4am. It started beeping, squealing, buzzing, beeping and flashing all at the same time. Like it was shorting out and everything went on at the same time. I ripped out the batteries and put it out of its misery. Hopefully it will become something more appreciated in its next life.
Stopped working after 14 months
September 22, 2017
This alarm clock worked well for 14 months. Unfortunately, it no longer works properly. Curiously it still keeps time but the alarm function no longer works. I still gave it two stars for the 14 months of great performance. I recommend this alarm clock if you plan to retire within the next 14 months.
Bad quality overall. Very short product life for a digital clock.
July 30, 2017
Material looks cheap and all the buttons has big clicking noise when setting up. However, since it shows a lot of info(temp, humidity,dates..), I decided to keep it to give it a try. Half year after using it, I realized that the time went a couple of mins off. By 7-8 months, it started to mulfunctioned. I reset it a couple of times to fix it and it's now completely dead. Product life 1 year and 1 month.Bye.... I'm buying something else.
Too dim
June 17, 2017
The numbers are not very large and the display is too dark. For someone with bad vision, the lack of a bright and large display means this does not work very well in bed. Yes, you can press a button to temporarily increase the brightness but that's rather annoying. I ended up returning this and selecting a larger, standard red led clock that I'm happy with.
It's not a terrible pain to fix but still
February 6, 2017
This alarm clock resets if you hit the snooze button more than three times! So if I'm feeling particularly lazy in the mornings and snooze past three times- the clock resets to 12:00, alarm resest to 6:00 and date resets to 1/1. It's not a terrible pain to fix but still, shouldn't be necessary. I do like that this alarm has a light sensor and is loud enough for me to wake up without being startled.

Shopping for a new clock radio
September 20, 2017
Here I am, shopping for a new bedside clock radio less than six months after purchasing this. When I first unboxed it, I noticed two things immediately. First, the controls on top were virtually impossible to see for someone without the best vision. All the labels are molded into the black plastic which makes them nearly impossible to see in a bedroom without super lighting. Second, the sound was real tinny. but it is a small cheap, radio so I guess speakers add hugely to the cost.Which brings me to today: the sound of the music now fades quickly. I turn it off, turn it back on, it plays at the full volume I set it at, then fades. If I touch the plastic of the radio body... the sound fades in and out! If I run my hand over the body, the sound comes and goes with the movement of my hand. I did r/r the AC cord, which seems to have restored functioning a bit, but now I don't trust it.Save your $10 and get a $20 radio!

February 8, 2017
I have given this clock 2 months now, and have read the instructions probably 15 times. (You almost need an advanced degree to understand them). I bought the clock because the "sleep" button on my old clock is impossible to push. The sleep button on this clock is part of the snooze button, making it almost impossible to use while you're half asleep. I fear having to change my time of wake up, and will often use my old clock (my husband refuses to use this one so the old one is still in our room). On two occasions I have turned the alarm off, only to have it go off again 9 minutes later. I so regret buying this clock, and have gone back to my old clock, even though you have to hold the sleep button down really hard to get it to reset.
Readout keeps disappearing
January 31, 2017
The screen keeps going blank on this clock The numbers just randomly disappear. When I hit the snooze button, the clock resets itself and the numbers come back. Go figure. But if the numbers go out in the middle of the night, the alarm is not going to go off. I don't recommend this clock. I'm tired of cheap junk made overseas in sweatshops.Update: The gradual alarm function, which is the reason I bought this thing, has quit working. It now comes on at max volume, making you jump out of bed.
I HATE when the alarm goes off
January 24, 2017
This clock had SO much potential. I HATE when the alarm goes off. The volume for the alarm is not adjustable and it blares the radio. This is not how I want to wake up. The separate weekday/ weekend alarms are great, the auto daylight savings time adjustments are great, just make it wher the alarm volume can be adjusted!
Very annoying to have to consult the printed instructions each time
December 12, 2016
Very tinny radio sound! Extremely complicated system of setup, both for radio and buzzer alarms. Very annoying to have to consult the printed instructions each time, to reset alarms, etc. Also, the printed instructions are very difficult to read! The best thing about this clock-radio is the size of the display, but even that is just TOO BIG! I bought two of these, for two homes, and won't return them because it's too much of a hassle --- but I do NOT recommend this brand of clock-radio! Maybe I'm just spoiled; I've had a SONY cube next to my bed for many years, and I loved it.
Disappointed
March 25, 2016
Very disappointed with it. The light from the clock was very bright even on dim. Would be good for a nightlight. Also there is no way to turn the alarms off completely. I work 2nd shift and do not need an alarm very often but want to be able to turn it off if need be. What ais a person to do when on vacation? I sure don't want the alarm going off. It was sent back and I ordered a different one. The return policy is very clear and easy to do so was glad for that.

Display and light stopped working right 9 months after purchase on all three clocks
November 6, 2017
I bought three of them. At first, they worked well, but two stopped working right after about 6 months. The display stops to show the numbers completely, and also, the light doesn't work correctly. It turns on the light but you can't see the time. For ten bucks, I would have hoped to get more than 1 year of use.

June 12, 2017
I bought this to replace another, after my dog spilled a cup of coffee on it. The edges were more round than my old one, otherwise they looked the same - but they're not. This one never worked, just screeched when I put the batteries in. Had to send it back.
Beware!

Does not work. Can't see parts of letters. Only worked a few weeks.Nancy CowellThe Vilages, FLClock stopped working. Never possible to see all numbers.I shoul have returned it!Nancy
Waste of time and $$
May 13, 2017
Zero isn't an option. Clock came in packaging. Put in fresh batteries and it lit up. And that's all it does. Cannot program anything. No display. Buttons do nothing. Light doesn't even go off. Garbage. Returned immediately.
terrible, the light will keep you up all night
December 19, 2016
terrible, the light will keep you up all night...literally had to turn the screen away from me. facing the wall. the wake sound is horrendous, the buttons are cheap and pressing them is something you will dread. Trust me, you get what you pay for. In life, cheaper is always worse. an occasional deal might be great, but as a general rule of life, if one wants quality one should be ready to spend money.. I have a Sharper Image alarm clock for the past 20yrs and that thing is still going without fail. $60 was soon worth it not that i look at this product. Just can get good stuff for $10-15..... bad product
cheaply priced but cheaply made
June 15, 2016
This is probably the worst thing I've purchased on amazon. Nearly 2,000 reviewes, with a 4 + stars rating, it had to be good.Wrong. The clock has a light sensor that turns on when dark. However, the light is super bright and there's no option to dim it, and you can't turn it off unless you deactivate the sensor by turning on the light in the room. After discovering that, I decided to put the clock else where in my house. After a few weeks, I noticed that the time sped up about 7 minutes. I set it back to the correct time. Sped up again. Now, after having it for over 6 months, the clock has completely stopped working.I bought two of these, and the same thing happened to both of them, so I highly doubt I got two faulty products, it seems that it IS a faulty product.Steer clear.

0 for 2 - high hopes dashed
May 22, 2017
I was replacing a very old radio alarm clock and had high hopes. The first one I received the radio tuner was working only 30% of the time. I figured I'd exchange it for a replacement and all would be well. The second one I received the radio tuner was just as bad, and the "AM" indicator wasn't working so I couldn't tell if it was AM or PM when I set the alarm. The instructions are well written and very clear. There is supposed to be an "AM" indicator but nothing for "PM", which is fine as long as you realize this which I did and it worked on the first one but not the second. I loved the size, functionality that was advertised, the dimmer worked great. Very disappointing quality; I had to return this and as my first "Emerson" brand purchase this may also be my last.
A complete dud
April 12, 2017
The A.C. Power does not work. The unit would only work with the battery but will only power the clock for a few days. It's too expensive to send back, so into the recycle bin it goes.
Hope your clock doesn't malfunction...
December 5, 2016
When I first purchased this clock, I thought it was great. Easy to use and understand... but then, after 1 month... it's insides went BOOM! I noticed that the display was screwy so I unplugged the clock and plugged it back in. After plugging it back in, the display simply didn't come back on. The clock just stopped working. So I got my warranty out only to find that I would have to pay (at my cost) to send the clock back to Emerson plus include a check in the amount of $10. What a ridiculous warranty. It would cost me roughly the cost of a new clock to have it replaced under their warranty.. Shame on you Emerson for stating you have a warranty when in reality, you simply make the consumer purchase another one of your clocks. This is the last Emerson product I will ever own. Buyer beware!!!
Here's what I like, it automatically sets the time
November 18, 2016
I have gone through 2 of these clocks in the last 6-8 months. Here's what I like, it automatically sets the time, there are options to turn the alarm on for week or/and weekend so you can set your week. Here's where they lost me. I had to buy the tinting film and had to put 2 pieces over the bright blue light, which means at night I can see it but during the day I can't, which isn't make or break for me. But the power cord on both items don't seem to work. The first clock I had it only worked for 2 weeks, this one just went out and is plugged in. My guess is that's why they send this replacement with a battery already put in. The alarm goes from loud for the first 4 seconds to wake up the whole household if you don't respond to hitting the button in those 4 seconds. Overall very unenthused about this companies quality.
Believe the bad reviews; do NOT buy!
May 10, 2016
This clock just died, barely 16 months after we bought it. Specifically, because it sets it self from a wireless source (atomic clock) it decided that the year was 2012 and we lived in a completely different time zone. There is no way to override this. You cannot manually set the time. As previous reviewers have said, the brightest setting is very dim. We could read it at night, but could not read it in the morning or during the day.We have a previous model that I wanted to purchase again (CKS1702) but it is no longer available. This model is great and still running strong. It is a shame this one is no longer available.
where's the window?
December 26, 2015
I really didn't like this thing...it's non-intuitive and therefore difficult to learn how to use. I DID like the low light LED since I hate how bright they are. I also liked that it would reset its time, until it wouldn't anymore and had to be manually reset. After finally setting its radio channels, it "forgot" them too when accidentally unplugged. At one point, it got me so frustrated I contemplated tossing it out of my window. But I didn't. It's still here, bothering me every time I look at it.
