Side by Side Comparison of: Stellar Labs vs Yamaha vs M-Audio vs SONGMICS

I love this stand but I should have thought of the depth before purchasing it. The stand is about 20" deep and my keyboard is only about 10" deep so I have a LOT more stand than I do keyboard. If I slide the stand all the way against the wall, it sticks out about 25" from the wall due to the design of the stand. I don't have much room in my little apartment and that extra 15" of wasted space could come in handy.

I bought this stand to replace my x-style stand for my Korg Triton Studio 88. That keyboard is a beast, and I always had problems with it wobbling on x-style stands, even when I used 2 of them. When I saw the price on this stand, I was pretty skeptical, but I couldn't be more pleased with the results. The build quality was perfect and the keyboard is rock solid now. It's easy to adjust and fits my needs perfectly. If I had to travel with this setup, it might be a pain, since it's not really made to be portable. But for a static setup, it's about as good as you could want, especially for the price.

Was getting aggravated looking for a keyboard stand for a non gigging digital piano. The box guitar stores wanted at least $80 for an x stand of decent quality. So I decided to get this after reading oher reviews on amazon.

Solid stand! Could double as home gym equipment: You could do dips on this thing! Certainly well worth the money. Easy to set up even though there are no instructions.

My only minor "issue" is that the upper bars are quite a bit deeper than I need for my Casio 88 key piano. I think it's made to hold old keyboards with a big footprint, like a Clavinova, etc. I might cut the bars down, but it's a minor and personal gripe.

I was looking for a good quality stand for a 31 lbs keyboard that would allow the player to sit comfortably while playing. So, X or XX stands were not an option because of their design having the supporting bars on the way of the player's knees. I had to get a Z stand or equivalent. Considering the price and quality of all options that qualified, this stand was a very easy choice. It would have been even easier, if I had a very heavy keyboard.

This stand is similar to a Z stand with an additional supporting bar for each side. So, it should be more stable than a normal Z stand. The height adjustment notches are just about 1.5 inches apart starting at a very low height. Nobody should have trouble getting the perfect keyboard height with this stand. The same goes for the width adjustment range. The adjustment pins are spring loaded and there is padding on the surfaces that contact the floor and the keyboard, and a hex key for assembly duties. The usual market price for a stand of this caliber and quality would be at least $100 and normally about $120.

This stand does not come with assembly instructions and it doesn't need them for people with normal intelligence, except for one detail. The two parts that look like big square washers, are washers. As all washers, they should be placed right next to the bolt's head; that is, on the outer side and not the inner side of the supporting bars. If they are placed on the wrong side, they won't do their job and the stand will be wobbly.

Regarding portability, mounting and dismounting the stand is fairly easy and quick. It won't be very quick though, because you will still need to assemble it and disassemble it, by screwing in and out the two (left and right) side bolts that hold it together. So, it is not a foldable stand. But, putting it together is neither a long nor a tedious task, unless you have to set things up very quickly before your performance. It does not feel neither heavy nor light for its size. I can't say more on this matter because I have not had any other similar design stands to compare.

Very sturdy. I thought it would be too tippy for my antsy 6 and 9 year old boys, but is quite sure footed and they have not had a problem.

this thing is super sturdy. Adjustable to 3 heights as mentioned, it's very comfortable and I use it to sit on when playing guitar. It is rock solid, and comes assembled so nothing to worry about in that area. Fantastic product.

This stand is sturdy and firm. It feels as good or better than any full size wooden piano stool. It is easy to assemble and break down and very portable. This was included in a package deal with a Yamaha P45 piano keyboard.

Great for the price. I needed something slightly taller to sit on than a chair. Exactly what I needed.

We bought a piano that came with this bench as part of a package deal. I figured we wouldn't get much in the way of a bench, but we wanted the piano, so held off on purchasing another bench. I am so glad we did. The seat is thick and comfortable. It's very adjustable. You do not have to put it together, it comes completely assembled. My 8 year old, who is not a tall 8, uses this seat and can reach his keyboard perfectly. We have to put something under his feet, but we were more concerned about height than feet. He is a squirmer, even when he's playing, and this doesn't topple over or become unsteady.

This is a good solid piano bench and is not cheap looking. It looks surprisingly good with my electric piano. It's sturdy enough for large adults. I studied most of the piano benches offered on Amazon and read most of the reviews before deciding on this one, and have not regretted choosing it. I just wish I could store some music inside of it.

Wanting to be able to use a sustain pedal while recording music using my digital keyboard I bought this M-Audio SP-2 Universal Sustain Pedal and I'm glad I did. It's a nice smooth pedal and has decent weight which helps keep it where you place it. Simply plug in the chord jack into your keyboard and begin using it as needed. Works as advertised. I like the shape and size, which mimic the sustain pedal of an actual piano. The only issue I had is that it slides on a hardwood floor. It's distracting to be playing while also hunting for the pedal with your foot. I solved this with 2-sided tape on the bottom. That provided just enough friction to make it stay put.

This has reversible polarity so it should work with any keyboard. I had 5 seconds worth of trouble finding the switch, which had mysteriously ended up under a patch of 2-sided tape.

I don't know why but I decided I needed to review this pedal after using it for a little over a year. I have been playing piano/keys for over 20 years - mostly in church - and whenever I do a gig, I travel with a sustain pedal just in case. I've learned the hard way why a pedal is so important. Even when I was in India for 10 months, I had to have my own sustain pedal just in case. The little dinky ones that usually come with keyboards are a joke and don't work consistently.

I always tend to spring for the universal sustain pedals that have the polarity switch on the bottom so they can be used with all keyboards. I personally use my pedal with my Casio Privia PX-300 but at church, I use the pedal with the Yamaha MO-8. I've also used the pedal with a Korg and Alesis (forget which models).

I'm a huge fan of the classic-style sustain pedal since I learned on an upright piano. The slip-resistant rubber bottom doesn't work well on carpet (in my opinion) - I tend to play more standing up and I constantly have to readjust the pedal mid-performance but I'm sure it would stay in place better when not on carpet.

The pedal definitely works like an acoustic piano's sustain pedal since it has half-pedal expressive capabilities, which can be extremely useful.

The 6-foot cable has a 1/4-inch jack to plug into your keyboard.

I tend to leave the plastic covering on the pedal to protect it and everything works fine.

I highly recommend this pedal.

If given a choice, I will always plan an acoustic piano. But while travelling and for certain venues, that is not always a possibility. So I've added in an electronic keyboard to my studio.

The pedal that I bought with my Yamaha turned out to be a dud, big time. It felt flimsy right from the start, and had a lower profile that, frankly, just annoyed me. It stopped working after maybe 2 months of very light use.

This one is more solid, and I can easily feel it with my foot. It's more natural for anybody who is at all used to pedaling on an acoustic piano. I've never had any problems so long as I plug it in when the keyboard is off; doing so when the keyboard is on causes some pesky reverse-polarity issues that basically means that you will sustain when the pedal is up, and release when the pedal is down. So don't do that.

Other than that, I am very happy with this pedal. I anticipate enjoying its effects for many years to come.

One of my Roland damper pedal died and i needed something to replace it but did not want to spend $50 for a new Roland pedal. This $19.99 pedal is just perfect. Solid construction, a bit heavy as it should be in my opinion I cannot see any difference in terms of quality between Roland damper pedals or Korg pedals as I owned both. The perfect companion for any brand synthesizer as it also features a polarity switch meaning you can either use this on a Korg keyboard or Roland keyboard knowing this 2 brands use different polarity for their damper function.

This is super durable. It is heavy, all metal construction. It is very adjustable in height and width. The horizontal bars where the piano sits are padded on top. Realize that the horizontal bars are quite long, so it will easily accommodate the majority (if not all) digital pianos/keyboards. The only pitfall is that it doesn't have adjustable feet. This would have been such a simple feature to add at a low cost. So, if your floor isn't level you're going to have to shimmy it so it doesn't wobble. It has enough weight with the piano on it that it doesn't seem to want to slide on our wood floors, but rubberized adjustable feet at all four corners would have been the icing on the cake.

While I appreciate its sturdiness, I have to complain that the bars protrude from under the keyboard a lot further than I expected. Another thing to note is that I work in a small studio space, so I had to do a lot of rearranging in order to find a place to set up the stand and align the keyboard in a pleasing way. But these are minor complaints. The stand functions amazingly, it's simple to set up and not as heavy as I anticipated.

it's definitely great but it had no instructions that came with it. I had to actually come back to amazon and see how it was put together so I could figure out what I was doing. I know there aren't many pieces to this but I wanted to make sure I was putting it together so it wouldn't fall or break somehow because I inadvertently put it together wrong. Would be a shame to have my $500 keyboard break because of that reason. That's only reason i gave it 4 stars. Other than that, this thing is sturdy!

Just put it together after scratching my head for a bit. Came with no instructions (hence dropped a star) so I finally opened the order and figured it out from the picture. No, it wasn't difficult but it had a shipping/packing slip so may have been easy enough for them to add instructions or at least say "see picture". All-in-all appears very steady and should be good enough to hold my keyboard (I'm a beginner!).

This keyboard stand is very sturdy and very well made. It holds my son's keyboard perfectly. THe only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the top of the back of the stand (what holds the keyboard) is not flush with the wall. The legs are flush but the top is not. Aesthetically, that doesn't work for me so I just turned it around. Fortunately, my son just moved his pedal off to the right so that the cross-bar doesn't interfere it.

Great heavy-duty stand but two of the brackets are too small for the vertical frame. I thought maybe they included the wrong bracket at first, but even the welded bracket from the frame on the crosspiece is too small. So the design is just poor from that respect. If you don't mind using a hammer to give each bracket a few serious (and I do mean serious) whacks, they will eventually go around the frame and be stable (presumably, anyway). This would definitely be a 5-star item if not for this particular design flaw since, price-wise, this puts the flimsier X frame stands to shame. Other than the bracket, this is an extremely stable, extensively adjustable stand.

Solid seat. Just make sure the knob is tightened well. May need to check once in awhile but the seat will not collapse unless the main screw is completely removed. Good cushioning for comfort.

Not the best piano seat i ever sat on for sure but as a keyboard seat for less than an hour practise once in a while it does the job.It was easy to mount, just unfold and screw and it pretty light and portable.The comfort is not the best of all and to be honest more than an hour seating on this would seem challenging to me but as a simple solution it works.

It does the job and is comfortable. I prefer a good wooden piano bench that opens so I can store my piano books but this does the job and is light enough and comfortable

This bench is functional, but uncomfortable. I bought it because it was the cheapest one, and you get what you pay for. I use it exclusively in my home studio, so I don't spend too much time on it for long stretches, so it's a great fit for me. If you like a softer cushion, spend the extra money...

The bench works well, I am not used to sitting without a back but it is good. The cushion isn't the greatest but for a half hour or hour it works well, seems solid and I would recommend it to anyone, I think it would hold a large person, I am over 200 pounds and it doesn't seem to mind...

The height: I'd want to be able to put it a bit lower. Will have to drill another hole myself.2. The bolt. You have to unscrew the bolt completely and try not to loose the washers, and assembly it back. It could be done more simply.

Very sturdy and good feel, worked with my Casio PX out of the box. My only issue is that it is LONG, so with my piano against the wall the pedal is too far forward and impossible to use. The only solution is to have a few inches between the piano and wall in order to achieve a comfortable playing position (i.e., pedal behind the keys as on a grand). These all look the same so I don't see how that's avoidable.

Inside the housing, under the pedal, there is a spring that pushes the pedal back up. After about a month, the pedal started to squeak. I took the cover off to figure out what was making the noise, and the noise came from the spring against the bottom of the pedal. A couple of shots of spray lithium grease where the metal parts contact, and the pedal was quiet again. As a note, this can be done without taking the cover off.

Otherwise, the pedal feels solid, and has been working fine.

I have been buying this brand and using these pedals for years. They are wonderful and do everything you would need for this type of product. They look sleek and nice and the shape of the pedal reminds you of an actual piano pedal. However, This pedal breaks down every year! Meaning, I have to replace it once or twice every year. If you are going to use this on a keyboard and that keyboard stays in one place then this is the product for you. However, if you travel with your board and play shows throughout the year expect to replace this pedal at least annually as it will cease to function the more you roll up the cord and move it. I take very good care of my equipment. If you travel then you understand what taking good care of your equipment requires; rolling up and tying down cords in the proper way and not having it inside your piano case. If you are a casual player who wants a professional feeling of a pedal and look, buy this pedal, If you are not then prepare to buy more of these over the years or invest in another trusted brand.

First of all, i'm not an expert on electronic sustain pedals, and my point of view is based on the only two i had (this one and a Yamaha FC4), plus my upright piano pedal.

The pros.
Beautiful and modern design.
The pedal comes with a polarity switch which is very useful for old or weird keyboards.
Sturdy Feel.
Anti slip rubber on bottom.

The cons.
It took about 6 months to develop the characteristic squeaky pedal sound, for this one it only took two days, maybe its a lubricant problem or just the way the spring is disposed inside the pedal. Some people will find very annoying that sound when trying to play peaceful piano pieces or record while playing with this pedal on the room.

Overall: Nice and affordable pedal for beginner and intermediate players.

tl;dr - This pedal have no half-pedal/half-damper/progressive-damper capabilities, product description is misleading. However, build quality is truly good and you could use it to create your own pedal.

Since the description says the pedal is 'Designed to work and feel just like acoustic piano's sustain pedal' and '..with expressive half-pedal capabilities' one would expect it to have precisely half-pedal/half-damper/progressive-damper capabilities, but it doesn't.

Then there's the real description: '..when they press the sustain pedal, the note lingers like it should. As soon as the musician lifts their foot, the note is gone.' And then this thing: 'The SP-2 is as responsive as it needs to be.' Hahah, no.

At first I thought it was a problem with my piano (PX-150) since Casio is really, really, REALLY picky when it comes to using non-Casio stuff on your piano/keyboard, but then I tried it with the P-105 and SP170, and the result was the same.

Wish they would have stated explicitly this is just an on/off switch. However the pedal itself has a good size, and does feel sturdy; the action is closest thing I've found to that of an acoustic piano pedal (under $50), and for $20 this is a steal. At least considering other pedals cost over twice of this and feel rather cheap. You can always open it and modified the circuit yourself so it has some half-pedaling function.

It's sturdy but way too big at the top, it basically has enough room for two keyboards (I have a Yamaha P-115b). You may want to look for something else if you plan on having this pushed up against a wall.

The product is sturdy, but extremely bulky. Transporting it is difficult ad it sticks out in the front and the back when using it.

This thing holds my Roland A-88 pretty well and has extensive height adjustment options which is nice. Unfortunately what none of the other reviews here seem to really mention is that it doesn't stay still while I play; it's weighted enough that it doesn't actually slide, but it wobbles a bit and that sucks.Overall a decent product for the money.

Great however, uneven.Very little assembly. Some scratches one the product which I am able to overlook. The main problem is that when assembled, it is uneven.Horrible!

I would purchase this stand again, for my 88 key Yamaha piano. It came with no assembly directions and I need to have some more tool oriented guys look at it----I am far from a handy man. It is possible that my hardwood floors are not level as I live in almost century old bldg, but I had to put cardboard from the packing material under one of the legs. With the cardboard it works magnificently and I can pound away on my piano with great drama. I do not need to have this piano travel, but if I did, I would purchase an additional stand(s) for each location

Great sturdy stand for a great price. I was disappointed though that there is absolutely no tiered accessories for it, and a lot of the other manufacturer's parts don't fit it. Originally I intended to get a 2nd tier attachment for it, but there is nothing available. So be forewarned if 1 tier isn't enough for you, DO NOT buy this one. Other than that it's quality product.

I got this for my 5 and 7 year old. It is adjustable but the drawback is at the highest setting this bench has the tendency to tip. My 5 year old fell off it and so did her friend. I didn't keep this in mind while shopping. I recommend that you look for a wider bench for small kids or if you need it for an adult that cannot balance well.

The Product is good enough, and I thought it was worth the price. However, other comments were correct and this is in no way an official Yamaha product which is false advertising. I don't know why their not just honest and say what it is, because for the price I think it's perfectly acceptable it's not from a big brand. I think that would be better than misleading customers and wouldn't lead to negative reviews.

I bought this to use with my Yamaha DGX 650B. When it arrived, I was surprised at how small it is. I should have paid more attention to the dimensions rather than the pictures. One reviewer states it might hold 200 lb. That would be the upper limit by my guess. This bench is more suitable for a child or a small-built adult. I'm 6'4" and 300lb. I was afraid to sit on it and returned it. I'm sure this is a nice bench for a smaller person.

The bench seems sturdy and well-made. But be careful if you intend to use it with a keyboard on a keyboard stand like the one I purchased, the Yamaha PKBX2. At the stand's lowest setting, my Yamaha CP40 piano keyboard is 30 1/2 inches from the ground, not necessarily a big deal. The PKBB1 keyboard bench has a maximum height of 20 1/2 inches. For most people, this bench height is fine if your keyboard is 28 inches from the floor, but it's too low if, as in this case, the keyboard is 30 1/2 inches from the floor. I had to choose between returning the stand or returning the bench, so I'm returning the bench and getting a taller one. The PKBX2 keyboard stand should probably not be sold as a bundle with this bench.

I purchased this item a few days ago and received it promptly. However, when I went to remove the plastics covering the leg braces, I discovered rusted screws. Needless to say, I am going to be returning this for a replacement. The bench does look and feel sturdy and the padding feels very adequate and comfortable for prolonged sitting. On this particular order, I can't trust the integrity of the bench when the screws holding everything together have rust all over them. For now, I'm giving 3 stars and will update if the replacement arrives in better condition.

I purchased the Yamaha BB1 bench to use with my Yamaha DGX530 keyboard. While an OK value for a relatively low price, the Yamaha bench is solid but plain-looking. It has hollow metal legs, and thin padding with a soft vinyl covering that looks like it could tear or puncture easily, so maybe not a good choice if you have children that might climb on it. It came packaged in a plastic bag within a box, with no real protective padding of any kind, just a couple of pieces of foam to keep the legs from moving around and getting scratched. That didn't work! Before I opened the box I could hear the legs rattling around in there. When I opened it and looked it over I saw that the legs all had small scratches on them, and the vinyl top had a 1/2" cut in it. I find that baffling, because there was no damage at all to the box that I could see, and I did not use a blade to open it. Even if I had, the cut was off to the side and at an angle! Very strange! This would have had to be packaged this way, unless of course it was returned damaged and then resold. (I noticed another review where the reviewer found a tear also, but went ahead and taped it.)Bottom line, after using it for 2 days, I found it reasonably comfortable and sturdy, but a bit low for me. If you can get an undamaged one, it is a plain, sturdy bench for reasonable price and I think you will be happy with it.Rather than return it for a replacement, I decided to return it and try an adjustable bench.I purchased the Ebony Adjustable Artist Piano Bench through Amazon and CPS Imports. It was almost double the cost, but worth every penny and more. Read my review of that bench for more info.NOTE: I may have given the Yamaha bench 4 stars if I had not been able to compare it with the Ebony bench. I did not take the damage into consideration when deciding on the 3 star rating.

The pedal slides a bit on a wooden floor. But more importantly, it has developed a squeak after 1 year of relatively little use. I will see if the base can be removed as it is possible that a little oil will solve the problem. The base on this pedal is held by screws which must be removed.

I needed a universal sustain pedal for my portable $750 Yamaha electronic piano. I have not been pleased with this sustain pedal, because it does not consistently work (sometimes it sustains when the pedal is up, and dampens when the pedal is down, i.e., the exact opposite of what you would want it to do), however, I am open to the possibility that the problem could also be with my Yamaha keyboard, as well. Buyers should be aware that there is a very small switch recessed into the reverse (bottom) side of the pedal, which I believe either enables or disables the sustain function of the pedal. It would have been helpful if this obscure switch could have been made more obvious to the consumer by the manufacturer, as I have been using this pedal with mixed results for several weeks, and I just accidentally discovered it a couple of days ago.

I purchased the pedal back in February and can no longer bare to use it due to a severe creakiness/stiffness its developed rather suddenly over the last week and half or so. Judging from other less-than-stellar reviews I've sifted through, others have run up against similar issues.

For the price I paid, though ($20 for the standard sustain model), I suppose it wasn't a terrible purchase; it's pretty to look at and served its function as well as could be expected. Still, it's a shame that it didn't hold out longer. I won't be attempting to repair it because all the other reviews that have addressed this issue seem to indicate that doing so wound up simply creating more issues.

I like the price, and I like the feel and weight of this pedal. It works well. So why 3 stars? After a couple years, it squeaks. Very loudly. So loudly that you can hear it from the audience during quiet, lush, piano moments. Could I take this pedal apart, screw by screw, look for the squeaky part, research online the best lubricant to use that won't damage the internal parts, and fix it? Of course! But that also means this pedal gets 3 stars. Sorry guys.

Well, as much as I'd like to give this item a 5 star review, I can't. It was a great pedal for awhile. I couldn't have been happier with it. It's heavy metal construction and rubberized bottom keeps it in place and it feels about as close as you can get to a real piano pedal. It worked perfectly and I had no complaints whatsoever.
But, yesterday (the 3rd) I tried to play me a quick tune before work (3rd shift), and 5 seconds in it just quit working. I tried everything. Nothings physically broken, it just died. So I figure I've been a good amazon customer for many years, I'll just put in for a replacement when I get off work in the morning. I get home on the morning of the 4th only to find out that the window to return it expired on the 3rd... My luck. It dies on the last day of amazon's warranty.
Anyway, I can't say its really a bad product. It's great if it works, but be warned; I did a quick google search and found plenty of people with the same problem.
Still could be worth the risk for the price.

My stand arrived uneven. Others may be better.

I liked everything about the stand but the top bars was way too long for the space intended. After placing my 88-key keyboard on the top bars sticks out way too far obstructing passage in front of the keyboard. It was nice and sturdy but sadly it didn't work out for me.

I bought this for my son. It did not come with any set up instructions. My son is not handy and just put it back in the box and into the closet. Why is it so hard to include instructions?? Very disappointed.

I gave it two stars because it's not very comfortable and I would like it to go just a little lower. I'm 5'4" and I have a hard time touching the ground. I have to hang off the front.

Completely off-level--by more than 1". Wobbles way too much to be of any use, even for a child. I returned it. Otherwise quality is fine--in fact this is indistinguishable from other such items, so much so that I expect we see many identical products under different brand names. So you might have better luck with yours.

Do not get this bench if you are planning to travel with it. To adjust the height will take a number of steps of unscrewing the lock from the cross (x). Also, to collapse this bench into flat position you have to screw/unscrew at a couple of places. Not that big a deal for some people, but I was expecting an easy 2 second process (similar to adjusting height on typical keyboard stands) which this bench does not have.If you plan to have it sitting in just one place then this should be ok. Also, the seat isn't that comfortable.

The stool is a good quality and looks nice. I'm thoroughly disappointed, however. I bought this because of the adjustable height. I need a 17 or 17 1/2 inch stool for my nine-year-old cello-playing daughter. At the lowest setting, it measures 19 inches from the seat to the floor.It's not worth sending it back, but now I'm stuck with a stool that's worthless to me.

Shenannigans!! This is NOT a Yamaha product as the listing would lead you to believe. It's a generic off-brand bench. Buyer beware. It's relatively cheap and I need it right away, so I'm not going to bother to return it. But the listing needs to be amended to reflect the truth. If you are buying this expecting traditional Yamaha professional quality, look elsewhere.

I am a full time professional keyboard player and I used to love these pedals. I purchased several of them in the last two years. However I have now had my third pedal break, and being as brand loyal as I came back to buy another, but they just upped the price from $20 to $30. I will be buying a different brand of pedals from now on. I am tired of replacing/repairing these things, and they are not worth $30 because they will break if you are a gigging musician. -_-

I'm giving this 2 stars because it broke after I had it for a few weeks? I was playing my piano and it just stopped working out of the blue. It would only work if you stepped on it REALLY HARD. (Which obviously isn't how it should work.)
They are good on their refund offer-- so I got a replacement right away. That's why I'm giving it 2 stars and not one. We have to ship the other pedal back, and it's just another thing to do. If I could re-order, I would probably not choose this brand again. I'm hoping the refunded pedal lasts a whole lot longer than the first one.

Besides all this, the pedal is nice looking and seems like it's good quality.

And just so you know- at the bottom of the pedal is a switch. One side does the opposite function of a pedal - and the other side does the normal function of a pedal. (Sustains the sound)
(I'm not really sure why this switch is at the bottom of the pedal -- but ironically we thought it was broken when we first got it. Then we just switched the switch and it worked fine. Until about 3 weeks later. Lol!)

Read multiple reviews that say this pedal works with Yamaha YPG-235... but not with mine. Tried all the internet tricks to reset, plug in first, plug in last, hold a key down, hold the pedal down.. all ends the same results. When the polarity switch is set one way the keyboard only sustains when you are NOT holding the pedal. If I hold down the pedal when I turn it on the pedal works.. but only 1/2 way. In other words it sustains as I push down till the pedal is 1/2 depressed and then it stops sustaining. With the polarity switch set the other way the pedal as NO effect on the sustain no matter what I do. Either it arrived broken or it is not compatible with this keyboard. Setting up return.

The internal screws holding the pedal in place un-screwed within 6 months. By the time I realized, one was missing, and the pedal was holding on by one screw.. I tightened it but it didn't last long and this whole thing fell apart.
Granted, I play 4-8 shows a month, and I raucously bounce my foot as I play, but this didn't hold up very long. I had to purchase a more expensive pedal in the long run, so I wasted my money.

Maybe if this was being used by a 8 year old that plays classical it might hold up..

This pedal is alright. It worked well for a while, but it has been very inconsistent for the past month and a half. It would work most of the time, but I often had to unplug and replug it multiple times to make it work. Today it stopped working altogether. Sometimes I plug it in and it sustains constantly. The rest of the times it won't sustain at all. Amazon, I don't think the pedal should have stopped working after a few months. I want Amazon to replace the pedal for me. This is unacceptable.

The width is very small. It is not specified in the product description.

Also Incomplete!!! No bolts to fasten the cross bar with. How hard is it to include two bolts?

seems like it would have been a good stand, however I'm missing the bolts to secure the unit on the side. :(

It seems like a well-built and sturdy product, and I think it would be exactly what I need for my YPG-235. However, and of course after I paid for 2-day shipping, the package arrived with corners torn, and the product arrived without the bolts to secure the middle bar to the two-side stands... in other words, useless! I would love to have the screws sent to me, anytime now...

I used this bench for a few days, shipped it back and ordered the one linked below. The bench was overall just too small and not firm enough which made my back and shoulders ache after sitting there for any length of time. Really love the new one. Yes, it's more expensive but totally worth paying extra. I sat and played for over 2 hours one night this week with no problems at all.On Stage KT7800 Plus Padded Keyboard Bench

The legs didn't fit into the grooves under the seat. I would have returned it but my son jerry-rigged it.

Poorly engineered; loose fittings and moorings for legs-to-bench attachments. Constantly had to tighten bolts and screws for legs which ultimately tore away from wood bench in less than a month. Dangerous seating for player.

This is not a Yamaha bench. It's imported by a company in CT from China, and the distributed by Yamaha. Yamaha does not produce this bench.

Like L. Jarlot, I recieved a generic brand bench. I also ordered the Yamaha PKBS1 Single Braced Adjustable X-Style Keyboard Stand, and it was a generic brand as well. There are many other brands out there that cost the same, or LESS than the "YAMAHA" brand, but I spent the extra money because I wanted and trust the YAMAHA brand name. I am not going to return the products because they are not bad quality. I am just dissapointed that they are being advertised as "YAMAHA" products

The bench is advertised as a Yamaha bench, but delivered a china made and distributed by Yamaha. This is a thick advertise. In my understand is a cheating.

Despite its heavy duty appearance ... this pedal barely lasted me 3 months. I gig 3-5 times a week so it is constantly getting moved ... but gently moved and stored in a hard shell case. The wire coming out of the back of the pedal has caused it to sometimes work - sometimes not work. Usually M-Audio stuff is top notch. I have older and cheaper looking sustain pedals that still operate. I was disappointed in the M-Audio SP-2.

DO NOT PURCHASE! THIS SQUEAKS!
After maybe 2 months of use, this pedal now completely squeaks every time you press down on it. The pedal is also harder to press down on than a regular piano pedal, and the spring is too strong to simulate real pedal action.

NOISY + HARD PEDAL FEEL = DON'T BUY

FYI, I've been playing piano over 20 years, but then again, I guess this was on me for purchasing the most popular pedal instead of really doing my research =(

I bought this based on the price, all the glowing reviews, and because I've had good experiences with M-Audio products.. I use multiple keyboards in my setup, so I need additional sustain pedals. This was great initially, and I wasn't using it that often. Then all of a sudden...NOTHING. I tried it with different keyboards and checked the polarity and NOTHING. I think I might've gotten about 6 months of use out of it. Meanwhile, there's a ROLAND pedal that I bought in the late 90s that's STILL going strong.

This pedal only worked for about 3 uses and hasn't worked since... Maybe we got a defective one, but I was way less than impressed with the quality I this product.

I bought this one because it looks like the previous one I had. I definetly didn't work as long. I used it three times, always afterward storing it in its box, carried it in a bag so it was in perfect conditions, not a single scratch or bump. One day in the middle of a performance it stopped working! thought maybe it was not plugged right but NO, everything was in the right position just the pedal was not working. Saddly my 30 days return policy had expired already... This products are made to last, and this one definetly didn't... had to buy another one from another company :/ IT LASTED 3 PERFORMANCES!
