Excellent product, have used Viair in commercial applications with no problems. This little compressor is ultra quiet and fast compared to the box compressors sold at big box stores. Inflated my 275/R15 truck tires from 25 to 33 PSI in about 20 seconds. Did one tire with same readings from my old box compressor and it took about 3 minutes. Solidly built, nice compact size, and does what a tire compressor should do, fill your tires fast, quietly, and with no vibration movement (first tire compressor I've owned that didn't require keeping a foot on it).
It lives up to its great reputation

I love this thing. It works great. I have used it to check and fill tires as well as toys. I plug it into the car jump starter box for mobile use, though I doubt that would work well for high pressure filling. It's great for rodies, though.

The only thing I'd change is a better holder for the filling accessories. The ball filling needle bent at some point, but it's still usable, and very replaceable anyway.

I definitely recommend this model if you want a very solid basic compressor for the car.
Above average tire pump
April 3, 2017
Seems to be high quality and comes with nice carrying case. It's by no means "silent" but it is quiet enough that I can use it early in the morning without fear of waking the neighbors (my driveway is mere feet from neighbors' windows). Also comes with a long power cable so that you can reach your car tires easily.

I can't speak to longevity since I use it infrequently and have only used it a couple times so far. The connector is solid metal and tubing is thick, so I would guess it will last a long time.
Easy to use, small, and very convenient.
November 3, 2016
I bought this two years ago when I had chronic bad luck with leaks in my tires. It's small, so I can keep it in the car. It has a pressure indicator and the electrical cord to the car cig lighter is really long. It's easy to use. I've bought a new car and again, my bad luck has reappeared. Thankfully, I don't have to stand in line at the station to use the air pump. Easy peasy, I'm on the go again in 5 minutes.
Very compact,strong
September 19, 2015
Purchased this unit because it was cheap and had great reviews and I can see why.My tires kept going flat every 2 weeks and I got tired of having to drive on base or to the gas station and pray the air pump was working which 9/10 times its not and who wants to pay a 1.00 for air right? So I got this and let me say first thoughts were is this gonna be strong enough because the unit is small, like really small and to my surprise it actually inflated my tire with no problem (aftermarket 22 inch rims) The pump comes with attachments for other types of applications to blow are in like a inflatable bed or basketball. It als features a fuse on the power cord that has a cover on it.I saw reviews of people saying the pump blew a fuse in their car but it did not blow mine I kept the car running as I used it (2008 Dodge Charger). This is a great pump and I have no complaints also another plus is the extremely long power cord!

Solid.

Solid piece of equipment. Has been flawless with the Freeman guns so far. Some reviews speak about a leak. So far, none. Holds pressure and cycles quickly. Like it better than my old Porter Cable.
Purchased the DeWalt and so far happy.

Upgraded after buying another brand from a big chain store; both failed and had to be returned. Purchased the DeWalt and so far happy.
Good so far
April 18, 2016
After much research settled on this one for general air needs around house and garage. Worked perfectly out of the box - performed 15 minute open valve burn-in even though not required on newer units. Left 150 psi in tank to test for leaks - went three weeks still at 140 psi. Use industrial connectors for hoses and tools - not automotive.
Get what u pay for. dewalt knows ita products
March 28, 2016
Took me a while to switch everything to dewalt I was all about craftman but dewalt has really put in the time to thier products to pull ahead of the rest. Have not had one problem yet. And I really like this compressor has the two valves so if u need to u can have two tools going at once. Clearly this is a smaller unit its not a 50 gallon but for smaller jobs it does what it was built to do.
Quiet and light
February 27, 2016
I spent a little more on this to replace my cheap Chinese dual tank compressor after it leaked oil and seized. I find it just as good but much quieter when I have it in a room running a nail gun. Also, it's weight makes it a lot easier to lug around, up stairs, etc. it's also clean. The only thing I miss is a shut off valve so I don't have to remove the hose or shut off the power when not in use.
Dewalt qualtiy, worth the price.
January 26, 2015
I almost did not purchase this item because it cost more than the other (more popular) comparable offerings from Bostich and Porter Cable. In retrospect I am glad I did. It is relatively quiet, and works just as I had hoped it would. I am a Dewalt fan and have many of their 20 and 12 volt battery tools which all have worked great for me.One thing of interest I can add. I read on several reviews of other pancake compressors that a break in procedure of running the motor with the drain open for 15 minutes was crucial for continued long term use. However after going through the instructions carefully, I did not see this requirement. I called Dewalt and was told that this was true for their older models but was not needed for this model. He said just start using it as you need to right out of the box. He said it would not hurt it to do the break in procedure, but it was definitely not necessary.

Confidence When We're on the Road
February 7, 2017
After reading the reviews I opted to go with the 70P which has a shorter stroke and more torque than the 80 series. At least one reviewer stated the power cord was too short, but I was able to reach all four wheels on my F150 without any trouble.

Top quality machined parts, quiet and not so much as a bit of hesitation when I started it on my wife's Honda.

The only negative I found was with the carrying case. For something so well constructed it seems like an oversight that there wouldn't be a separate pocket for the little bits that come with the pump. It's more likely than not they'll never be used, but if they were, the odds of them being there in a couple of years is doubtful.

This one's going into my wife's car and I'll be getting a couple more for my vehicles.
And that'll give me plenty of spare bits... just in case.
good compressor
December 8, 2016
Very efficiently gets my tire pressure up when the temperature goes down and I need to "top off" a few PSI. Takes no time at all to get the tires up from ~30 to ~35 PSI. I haven't tried using this to fill a tire from zero and don't think I'll ever need to.

At $30-40 it will take a while for this to pay for itself in saved quarters at the gas station, but it's worth it for the convenience of being able to fill my tires at home on my time, rather than in a dark gas station whenever I manage to find a working pump.

Unlike the gas station and most other pumps, to attach this pump to the nozzle you need to screw it on, which i suppose creates a tighter seal but requires a little more time per tire, and causes more air to escape when you unscrew. Not really a big deal.

I do wish the included case were a little larger. Everything fits but only if the cables are wound up very neatly.
A really good product
May 20, 2016
I was skeptical because I did not want a unit like my last one, that was so loud that people 100 yards away turned their heads and that bounced around and danced while it attempted to fill a tire. This is unbelievable, in that it is very quiet, and does not move at all. The brass metal piece that actually screws instead of compression fitting to the valve stem is also a plus. The only negative is that the unit does get hot otherwise a 5 star rating. I left it on for about 3 minutes to bring my tire up to capacity and it does get hot. But this is a great trade-off in my opinion, and I do highly recommend this little unit. Just nicely done and worth the money compared to all the other junk units out there near the same price. This is truly a case of you get what you pay for and this is worth the small difference.
Warning: Blew out my 1999 Subaru's fuse link. Had to spend $30 and 6 total hours repairing the fuse link.
April 21, 2016
First, let me say that this is very high quality and works well. I expect it to last me a very long time.

The big problem I have (and the reason why I am giving 4 stars instead of 5) is because it blew out my cigarette lighter's fuse link on my 1999 Subaru. This is my fuse LINK, not my fuse (which was fine). After much research, I learned that I had to take the car practically apart to get to the broken fuse link that is right behind the cigarette lighter.

Once I was able to get the fuse link out, I needed to purchase a soldering set and a multimeter to correctly repair the fuse link. All this took a LOT of time (around 5 hours total). Once I repaired it, it took another 30 minutes or so to put the hold thing back together.

This air compressor (and any air compressor, for that matter), needs to have a switch to set the sensitivity of the 30-minute safety off switch to prevent cigarette lighter fuse links from blowing out. If you have a fuse link cigarette lighter, it WILL blow out before your air compressor does! And that will cost you lots of time and some money to fix. I would have preferred that this air compressor blew out first. That might have cost me $10 more that what my repair ordeal cost me, but it would have saved me 6 hours of time.

I only took one star off because I'm pretty sure all other air compressors at this price point don't have a more sensitive fuse safety mechanism.
... inflator and found this one as one of the best reviewed ones with reasonable price
December 12, 2015
I needed a new tire inflator and found this one as one of the best reviewed ones with reasonable price, and I have to say, for the most part it lives up to everything I read.

It inflates tires much faster than other compressors, not instant or anything, but definitely faster than ones I used in the past. Also it is much quieter than any air compressor I've ever used before to inflate tires. It also didn't get anywhere near as hot as ones I've owned in the past, even after pumping up an additional 10 psi each for 4 tires.

It isn't perfect though, there is one downside that all portable inflators seem to have, and that's the pressure gauge. Compared to my digital pressure gauge which has been verified to work, the gauge on the Viair was 5-10 psi higher than the actual pressure for each tire, and varied how much it was off per tire. Not a big deal as I've had issues like this before, but the discrepancy was a bit more than expected, for that one issue it only gets 4 stars.

Good compressor for home hobby use
November 5, 2017
This air compressor does work pretty well for all things around the house. (airing up tires, compressed air cleaning of filters). I don't know how well it might work with a paint sprayer, nail gun etc. If you need to use this for air tools I think I would consider something larger. It might work well for the occasional paint job or maybe an air tool that doesn't require a large volume and high pressure. All the air tools I have ever used have been the industrial type and I doubt this compressor would do well with those.

Perfect garage compressor
September 5, 2017
Solid. Not that quiet. Takes time to fill, but for the price, very acceptable. Perfect garage compressor. This one is not for professional or high demand use, like roofing.
Works for me!
March 14, 2017
just fine for my uses now. A bit on the heavy side but still quite portable. After extended use, be sure to use the tank bleed valve to get rid of any moisture inside the tank.
Good.

Air pressure gauge is not correct. Also the increment lines are not correct. Why would I care about 22.5 pounds. How about 10,20,30,40 with half lines in between. PSI increments are pretty universal how can you mess that part up in production.
Good in a pinch
February 17, 2017
This product has worked well to fix soft tires and even some flat tires, it works well. The only reason it did not get a higher mark is because the adapter that plugs into the car is really cheap and broke the second time I used it. I was able to get in touch with Viair and they sent me a new adapter, I paid for shipping.

November 28, 2014
The unit feels solid, is small, and is quiet. One big drawback is the plug that goes into the lighter receptacle is too large. I had to push it harder than I wanted to get it in, but it was so hard to extract that I worried about it damaging the lighter socket in my 2014 Toyota Avalon. Also, the gauge dial goes to 150 psi, so it is hard to fill a car tire with precision. Differentiating between 31-33 psi is inexact. This might not be so much of a problem filling something requiring more pressure and less precision than a car tire.
Finally, the gauge registers about 3-4 lbs high as measured by a stick/pencil shaped gauge and cross-checked with a new Joe's Racing Gauge: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00404WDUC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Works fine, gauge is a bit weird
June 26, 2014
This pump so far has been reliable. I've only had it a few months. Two complaints: (1) The gauge divisions are not in what I would call normal units - 1, 2, 5, etc. No, the spaces between lines work out to something like 7.5 PSI intervals. (2) the end of the hose screws onto the nozzle, rather than being clamped down - this works out fine, but is a little awkward.

I've used this to top off truck as well as car tires. No problems. The soft carry case is a plus - convenient and easy to stuff things back into when done.

Time will tell if this lasts.
A Life and Tire Saver
September 19, 2013
I just received this small, portable air compressor because one of my tires has been chronically low on air for the past two months - needing to be refilled every week or so. I put this little compressor to use just yesterday, and it pumped up a rear truck tire form 17 PSI to 35 PSI in a matter of minutes. Just keep the engine running when you have the compressor on (since it plugs into your car lighter). The downside is the pressure gauge. I have another digital tire pressure gauge that always reads 10 PSI lower than the compressor's pressure gauge. I tested the digital gauge on other tires, confirming the digital gauge is correct. This is why I dropped 2 stars off. However, this unit does what it is supposed to do to: pump up your flat tires.

not bad, could be better compressor
April 28, 2017
As long as this is plugged in it works okay, the minute it quits pumping even with no air hoses & such hooked to it, it looses air that is stored in the tank, this causes it to have to run more therefore loosing any efficiently it might have to power air tools better. I like the floor print & the ability to hook up 2 hoses if needed, & the cushy rubber feet helps with vibration, a bit noisy when running but lets remember it is a compressor. with that said if they could fix the leaking air problem from their hoses / clamps spots I would rate this much higher.
Three Stars
January 13, 2017
Pretty decent little compressor, could be a little cheaper though
Pressure stability terrible, but otherwise a good compressor
September 2, 2016
I've owned this compressor for several years now, though it gets use mostly for small tasks such as inflation and blowing chips. The following is what I like and don't like:Likes-1) Great maximum pressure - when using a framing nailer this compressor provides to gun with more than enough power to fully drive 3 1/2 inch nails.2) Fairly quiet - good for jobsites, but a little loud for more confined spaces. I find myself reaching for earplugs if I'm in the same room, however I also reach for earplugs when I'm running my standard shop vac.3) Reasonably lightweight - can be carried without much effortDislikes-1) Pressure regulation is lousy - when the pressure is set to any level lower than about 100 psi, the pressure quickly creeps up when not being used. When set to say 40 PSI attached to a blow gun, the initial burst is strong but the pressure immediately falls to around 20 PSI and stays there until demand is off. The pressure returns to 40 PSI. This is totally bad for tasks such as spraying finishes.Overall if you are using only for high pressure jobs such as nail guns or lower pressure tasks which don't require decent pressure control, this would be a pretty good compressor especially for the convenience and relative quiet. Forget it for spraying or even chip blowing unless you add an external regulator (which I did a while back)
Handle can easily break apart.
December 2, 2015
Surprise that DeWalt reputation to quality could make a handle strong enough to last, that the screw was loose and pulling it out of the unit you could see that it had separated from the plastic threads. My worry is waiting 7-10 business days to receive a replacement part for something that really should not break so easy.Dec 7 this is an update, DeWalt replaced air compressor with a new one wait time was 3 days. Handle looks good. Would like to add that the one I sent back and the new one I received I had no issues of air leaks. The picture of gauges was taken over 24 hours ago with air hose attached and showed no leakage at all. I have changed my star rating from 2 to 3 as I still feel the handle is still the weak point of design and could easily be made better by extending the steel bolt through the handle and using a steel nut to tighten.
Great compressor with a few flaws
June 30, 2015
Like all DeWalt products, this one appeared to be well built and better than the competition. Imagine my surprise when I discovered both hose fittings were slowly leaking air when attached to a hose and pressurized (leaking from the joint between the male hose coupler and female receiving end of the fitting). The problem appeared to be undersized ball bearings inside the fitting, which allow too much free play between the fittings, providing a way for air to escape.Rather than going through the the hassle of exchanging, shipping back, waiting for a replacement, etc., I simply replaced both fittings with better ones, which solved the problem. Mine have fewer but bigger ball bearings, allow no free play, and hold the hose fitting very tightly. After reading all of the glowing reviews, I was expecting to be completely blown away by the quality of this product. I'm still impressed, but far from blown away. The important components are all very well made, but leaky fittings in an air compressor is borderline inexcusable from a company with this type of reputation, presumed attention to detail, and supposed product engineering focus.July 1 update- today I noticed the tank pressure gauge is off by about 15 psi. Motor cuts out at indicated tank pressure of 145 psi, but regulated output pressure can be increased all the way up to 160 psi. Manufacturer claims max tank psi is 165. Disappointing to say the least. Maybe mine was made on a Monday morning. Planning on exchanging unit for another one.July 3 update- replacement unit arrived today. Holds pressure well, accuracy of both gauges is dead on. Still plagued by the leaky fittings issue, which I addressed the same way as the original unit. I'm much happier now that I have a properly functioning unit, despite having to change out the fittings... again.

Gauges are inconsistent on these models
May 2, 2017
The pump definitely gets air into the tire, however the psi gauge is not calibrated correctly at all and reads about 10-15 psi high. I'd recommend you check the gauge on a tire you know the psi for and see that it displays correctly. Because I didn't catch it right away, now I'm stuck with an inaccurate one
If you have no where to go quick then buy this
September 28, 2016
I read the reviews and it is obvious that employees are making reviews to make this better then it is. I followed instructions plugged it in and started my car. 3 fuses later I gave up. I did go and buy a converter to go from my battery to 12V cigarette connection. I did not blow fuses this way.
The numbers being stated that is where I have a big problem. I bought this for a Stand Up Paddle board. It requires 15 LBS. Once I bought the connection so I did not blow fuses. 18 Minutes 22 seconds to get to 15 pounds. No pressure on the board so you be the judge. Your car sitting on top of a tire and they claim minutes to be to pressure. Not going to happen. Good for the price but I wanted to buy 4 more for Xmas for friends with SUP but will not be buying this one
Smooth, quiet compressor but died after only six uses
September 3, 2016
Smooth, quiet operation. Really nice compressor when it worked but after only five or six uses it mysteriously died, leaving me with a low tire on my truck. I wasn't even working it hard, just topping off the tires periodically. Of course it was past the 1-year warranty period. Others seem to have had good luck with this compressor so mine was probably just a bad unit.
Keeps blowing a fuse - not as tough as believed - 150 PSI misleading.
August 13, 2013
I bought this to refill my Dodge Dakota tires after coming off the beach near where I live. I have to lower my tires to 22 PSI to safely drive on the beach but I need to bring it up to 35 PSI to safely operate on paved roads. Often the lines at the air fill ports are long and the hoses provided are often broken or missing. I thought having a nice little portable air compressor would do the trick to get me on my way. The first time I used this machine, it cut out just as the first tire got to 30 PSI. I figured out it must have been a fuse in my truck since the outlet gets regular use from charging my cellphone. Just my luck, I have no spare fuses with me. When I got home, I replaced the 20 amp fuse which was blown and kept a few extra in the glove box in case it happens again.

The next few weeks I had no need for the compressor because the lines at the air fill ports were short. Last week, I had a need for it after the lines went long and only 1 out of 4 air chucks were working. I pulled out this compressor hoping for a fill only to have it blow the same fuse again just as it hit 30 PSI. I thought maybe it was another bad fuse so I replaced it on the spot. I continued to fill the tire hoping to get it to 35 PSI and after 15 seconds - POP - it blew the same fuse again.

What is misleading about this product is it states "UP TO 150 PSI". That is total bull unless you are filling up a bike tire. It warns you must have an 15 amp rates outlet. Well mine uses a 20 amp fuse and it still blew. The bottom line is this product should not be relied upon to inflate any mid-size car or light truck tire if you have to put more than 30 PSI in it. Also, I wouldn't by another compressor that relies on the power outlet. Get one that uses gator clamps to attach to your car battery. It's a bit of a pain in the rear to have to open up your hood but if you are in a pinch, the voltage direct from the battery will save the day - just not with this product.

It is beyond the time allowed by Amazon to return it for any refund so I'm stuck with it. On the bright side, my bikes will never be flat!
Blew car fuses!! Compressor quit working all together!
April 16, 2012
I bought this Vair 70P portable compressor--plugged it in my 2002 Saturn SC 2's 20 AMP accessory socket FIRST--Started the car up, and put 10 lbs of air into one tire---when the air gauge reached 32 lbs. IT QUIT RUNNING, and BLEW THE CAR FUSE! And it never worked after that! I Contacted Formosa Covers and they had a replacement on the way---before FEDEX picked up the defective one! Now that's what I call service!! Used the second one, and the same thing happened! I liked the unit itself--it's quiet---doesn't vibrate all over, and I really like the brass screw on chuck especially since I have a lot of arthritis in my hands. Doesn't do any good to have it if it doesn't work. Formosa Covers is an excellent seller. No, I do not recommend this air compressor!

Quite, Lightweight, Leaks Air

After much research and the reliability of Dewalt products, I settled on the Dewalt compressor. Powered up the unit, waited for the compressor to fill up to full capacity, soon afterwords notice the pressure gauge going down. Applied soap and water to the outside fitting and notice air leaking through inlet valve. Debating whether to repair the unit myself and avoid warranty, or go through the hassle of replacing the unit and gamble on another unit.
I expected more out of the "Dewalt" Name.
April 17, 2017
It's quiet but it like the other reviews it leaks, shut regulator off and leaks internally. 70 PSI drop in 3 hours. I expected more out of the "Dewalt" Name. 30 second recharge(from 90 PSI) I gave it 2 stars because it is a lot quieter than my larger compressor
DeWalt JUNK!!!
April 13, 2017
JUNK! I'm here to tell you that I'm real impressed with this damn piece of junk. I bought it in February of 2016, used it 3 times, once to air up my car tires, once to air up my boat trailer tires, and once to air up the tires on a little wagon, and when I went air up those wagon tires, I heard air leaking under the hood of the compressor, but it was at least working. On the 10th of April, 2017, I went to air up my boat trailer tires again, and this time the air leak was so bad that it wouldn't even build up pressure. This air compressor is kept in my garage, tank drained the 3 times that I did get to use it, and sits on rubber cork mat.....not neglected by any means. $145.00....WASTED!!! It'll be a cold day in you know where when I buy ANYTHING with the DeWalt name on it.UPDATE: May 6th, 2017 A couple of days ago, I was bored and decided to tear this thing apart and see if I could find out what was wrong with it, if I could, I would attempt to fix it, and if not.......off to the junk yard, because I sure wasn't going to spend any more money on it getting it fixed. Well, once I got the hood/cover off it, I checked the hoses for wear holes, because this vibrated so bad right from the first time that I plugged it in and turned it on that it would walk all over the garage floor. And........IT'S LOUD!!!! No holes or lose connections on the hoses, and for a bit, I was totally dumbfounded! I couldn't see anything wrong with it. Then I started to look real close at the head and cylinder and I thought the head actually looked a little bit loose. Got a socket and ratchet and sure enough, all 4 machine screws on the head were just a little bit loose. Tightened them up, put all the plastic back together, plugged it in and turned it on, and sure enough, it worked again. Now, that being said, it IS slow to build up air, but that is to be expected with a small air compressor like this one. And did I mention that it's.......LOUD!!!!!!!!! I don't see how something that small can make so much dang noise! But at least now, it's now vibrating any where near as bad as it did, and it sits in one place now. As a test, this time I didn't drain the air from the tank to do a leak test, and this is now 3 days since the repair and it hasn't lost even 1 lbs of air pressure. This one will do......for now, but later this summer, I'm going to invest in one of those Blue 2.5 hp Big Bore "other brand" of air compressors. I'll give it one more star since I was able to get it working, but I truthfully still don't think it's all it's cracked up to be. And did I mention that it's........LOUD!!!!!!!

Previous reviewers spot on regarding leakage
October 26, 2015
The compressor reaches 165 psi rather quickly, zero movement of the compressor while running due to it's thick rubber feet and fairly quite while running. Appears to be a well built unit. Only complaint, it LEAKED! Would bleed down 19 psi over a 2 hour period. A Dewalt factory service center is located within 6 miles of my residence. Dropped the unit off there and was advised the unit should be leak free and ready for pickup within 3 to 4 days. Dewalt's QC department has certainly missed the mark on this compressor.
Still evaluating it!
February 7, 2015
This is pretty light and makes not too muh noise. However it is not achieving the 165psi that the manufacturer promises. I am still trying to make it fire my gun. If not, I will return it.

When detached from the tire, it restarted and would run indefinitely. When reattached to the tire with 30psi, it would run for a fraction of a second before shutting off again. I used it all of 3-4 minutes in total.

Though many have reviewed this positively I can't say my experience inspires enough confidence to order a replacement so I am returning it for a refund. Very disappointed.
Mine died after 3-4 minutes total use.
December 19, 2015
The first unit came broken, (the plastic housing for the plug that goes into the car was in pieces) and the packaging was open. There was a brass nut in the package that had nothing to do with the product, so this clearly wasn't a new unit. Amazon quickly replaced it, and I was happy to have it for an emergency device in my trunk, after having tested it. The first time I had to use it, I inflated one tire, and moved to the 2nd tire to top it off. About 10 seconds later, the compressor died. Total run time was probably 3 or 4 minutes. I have a Malibu, so not oversized tires or anything out of scope. I started the car before plugging it in. Followed all the rules. I let it cool down, tried again, nothing. Replaced the fuse, nothing. The unit is just dead. With all the 4 and 5 star reviews here, I had high hopes this would be a reliable compressor, but not for me.
Two Units--Identical Defects
December 31, 2014
I bought this for my husband so that we had a compressor in case of emergency on road trips. He had asked for it specifically. Christmas morning, he opened the box hoping to try it out and was disappointed to discover that the plastic clip that screws onto the power connector and holds the fuse in place was broken--well, more like shattered. It was in four pieces inside the convenient carry bag.

Amazon was great with the return and cross shipped a replacement. Unfortunately, the new unit arrived with the same defect. The only difference this time was that the plastic piece was in three pieces instead of four--still completely sealed box inside the convenient carry bag. After that, we returned it for a refund so I really cannot say how it works. Thanks to Amazon for taking care of us on two consecutive defective products. Use great caution when ordering this product--there's a good chance you won't receive it in working order.
Factory defect

Use it one time worked perfectly.then second time didnt turn on,did try it on 3 different cars and no results...the compressor has a Fuse which was OK,so the best guess could be factory defect.

75.5 dBA, Try 105 dBA!
September 28, 2017
I sold my Porter Cable to get a quiet compressor. 105 dBA on my decibel meter! The manufacturer says 75 dBA, yes maybe from 100 yards away. Nothing worse than false claims.
DeWalt 165 psi pancake air compressor

DEWALT COMPRESSOR POOR PURCHASE
May 15, 2017
This piece of equipment was purchased in March2017and not put to use until today, May 15, 2017. It was used to build one birdhouse from soft pine with an air staple gun. The 6 gallon tank did not seem to hold air the way it should. Before the project was complete the compressor started making a huge racket like it was going to throw a rod and emitting smoke. My husband immediately shut it off and stopped using it. He restarted it for a moment and more noise ensued so he shut it off again and it remains off and unplugged. Because it is shrouded in plastic he cannot see what is wrong. Hopefully Amazon will make this right since the cost ($150.00) while not exorbitant, is more than we have to just throw away. I give it zero stars since it is a non-working piece of equipment but shows one star because it was required.
Leaks. Junk.

Zero stars. I bought it and returned it. It leaked. I wish that I had seen this YouTube video before I bought it.[...]
Broken out of the box
September 7, 2015
Broken right out of the box!!! Unfortunately I didn't need it or attempt to use it until more than 30-days after I received it, and now I'm understanding that I cannot return it, so I'm SOL (Shame in me). Turns on and makes noise, so the motor runs, but the tank never fills and almost no air pressure out of the hose. Unless I'm doing something wrong, this was a very disappointing first Dewalt purchase...really wish the return policy was more lenient, I'd like to give Dewalt another opportunity to impress me.
Doesn't automatically turn off + Awful support
August 5, 2015
Received quickly, however it doesn't appear to shut off at 165psi. I also noticed that the manual recommends testing the safety valve but doesn't have any information on how to accomplish that.I called their support line and informed them that it doesn't shut off and requested information on how to test the safety valve. They told me that this 165psi max compressor doesn't shut down until 220psi. They also informed me that to test the safety valve I should just leave it on until it blows. I am amazed at the lackluster assistance that I received, I had to confront their support person to get real information.I'm going to try support one more time, but I'm pretty sure I'm just going to return this piece of crap and buy some other brand.
