Five Star Reviews: | 45% Not a high dollar magnifier but Worth the money June 19, 2016 Ive been using this for a few years now and it still works really well for the money. Outstanding optic for the money! January 27, 2016 Shocking clarity from this optic. Paired with a eotech and couldn't be happier with this. Crystal clear at highest zoom. Have tested against other significantly more expensive optics and this is just as good. Since first order have ordered another and was sill very pleased with the second. Would highly recommend Great magnifier for the price! Made with quality. Not cheap like NCstar July 17, 2015 Magnifier works great. Exactly what I needed on my M&P15-22. Used with a Vortex flip mount. works great behind Eotech January 22, 2013 Have this mounted on the rail behind my Eotech. Works as any competing product I have handled including the Eotech branded ones nice magnifier July 9, 2012 has a very clear lense. does exactly what it says it does. and isnt to huge or bulky. i say this is a good buy if you have the right sight in front of it | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 19% Quality of the optics in this magnifier is very good and on par with my brother's EoTech magnifier September 16, 2014 Quality of the optics in this magnifier is very good and on par with my brother's EoTech magnifier. Though construction and optics are solid, I have been unable to align it with my EoTech 512. Center is off and the mount subpar. A better mount is a must when buying this magnifier. Nice glass December 5, 2013 Works great paired with my EO Tech. There is only about an inch of eye relief is the only issue but anything over 3x has similar issues. I have not had any issues with getting clocked on recoil. Bushnell TRS-25, then Vortex Strikefire September 8, 2013 If the magnafier had the ability to angle so that i could center the red dot, then its perfect. i know that if you align the allen screws perfect you can get it centered but its just a pain for me. It magnafies great for easy 100 Yds targets and its very solid for quality. It has a focus ring that works well too. As always, that mount is awful.I had this behind the Bushnell TRS-25 and it made the dot look very scattered. Then i added the Vortex strikefire with this and it works very well. Just got to tilt your head alot to find that perfect alignment. Nice magnifier for the money December 1, 2011 I would recomend this magnifier to those of us that can't always afford the top of the line stuff. be careful on the mount you buy. i'll be writing a review on that next. | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 10% Good for the money August 22, 2017 Didn't like the mount but the magnifier is pretty good. Doesn't seem like a real 7X...more like a 4X. It doesn't really magnify out to long distances...it more or less, brings it into focus. Clarity and magnification are two separate things. It's a good substitute for spending $500 on an EOTech magnifier. I bought the Sightmark, flip to side mount....much better than this twist and remove type. OK quality for the price. February 1, 2015 It is not real high quality but it worked and lined up with an Aimpoint Comp. ... red dot (got lucky & it ended up working good on the smaller caliber rifle November 8, 2014 bought to use on my mini 30 but the eye relief was so short that a person would end up with a serious case of scope eye when used on any rifle with even the smallest amount of kickback - ended up mounting on my 17hmr behind a small cheap red dot (got lucky & it ended up working good on the smaller caliber rifle.) Greay glass, lousy mount September 15, 2012 I like the glass quite a bit - especially for the money. I have an eotech 3x and this is not really any worse except the mount. When I put it on, it always is crooked. On top of that, the recoil of my 223 actually moves it with every shot making my eotech red dot move around in the field of view. The ONLY reason it is not returned due to the mount is the extraordinary value of the glass. I have a new a.r.m.s. mount on the way already. Go ahead and buy but be prepared to drop some more money on a new mount. Scope - GREAT. Included Mount - CROOKED. July 26, 2012 The GOOD:The optics on the 7x mount is great. The eye relief is rather short (approx 2 inches), but that's normal from a higher magnification scope of this type. The BAD:Included scope mount is crooked. Cannot see the center of the holographic sight while using the magnifier. I tried mounting this on 3 different picatinny rails, I flipped the scope mountaround and reattached the scope and still the same problem in the other direction. Also, the detachable mount does not lock down to the mount attached to the rail. So there's play between the detachable portion and the part that's connected to the rail. Not good. A shame, really.I don't want to spend another $50 to $150 on a mount.3 Stars for the rather nice scope. If you have another 30mm mounting ring that aligns with your holographic or red dot sight then buy this! The scope itself is great.Regretfully, I returned the scope. | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 8% It works great as a 7x magnifier April 25, 2015 It says: "Transition between no magnification for speed in close-range combat and magnification for precision shooting as situation dictates." it has a - / + sign on a twisting part. But guess what, it does not adjust magnification and it really does not adjust the clearness. It works great as a 7x magnifier, but it is not adjustable. It comes with mount that lets you take it off somewhat quickly, but the mount is cheap and does not go back on in the same spot each time. So sometimes the red dot is top left and next time its centered. it looks good but didnt work well July 18, 2013 i bought this because it sounded good a cheap 7x magnifier, i got it home opened up my box slapped it togher and threw it on my m4, my issues is that my red dot looking thew the mako is all the way at the bottom , if you can see threw it, i moved it around, tried spinning the optical lens, nothing worked, so now i have a pretty 7x magnifier on my AR. If i ha dent of camouflaged everything before i put it on this would have went back to the store, not happy with this product works as a Magnifying glass, but not a reflex magnifier July 17, 2013 I set this on my table, thinking i was "doing it wrong". I started them out touching and slowly worked them apart and was not able to get the reflex rectal in focus. Also, the mount that comes with it was never really locked in, And as i moved the glass around the rectal moved to different places on the target i was looking at. I was never confident that this was able to get me on target. If you are looking through the sight and you look at the edges of the glass it gets distorted and blurry (cheap glass). Granted this is NOT an expensive magnifier, but I would expect the rectal to be able to be in focus as this is what it is designed for. Also, the eye-relief is about 3"-3/1/2" which for my application (mounting on an SG Works bullpup kit) is not anywhere near far enough away. The only positive thing I can say about this is I do like the design, it feels solid and it does magnify your target. Was not Mako December 26, 2012 First off it wasn't even a Mako product. The one i received was a GNG, needless to say will be returned. Other then that the glass itself was decent, the mount sent with it lined up to the side with the Eotech exps2 reticule at the very edge of the magnifier. I would not recommend this to anyone. | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 18% Will not focus on reticle July 9, 2015 Finally got around to mounting this after getting a better flip mount. Bottom line is that it does not work. I have the same issue as another poster here, the sight is blurry and even though it looks like you can focus the device, moving the rubber wring doesn't turn anything.Going to return if it's possible I an not happy with it you can't make the red dot be ... July 5, 2015 I an not happy with it you can't make the red dot be in the center of the magnifier Not 7x May 15, 2015 I own 4 of these magnifiers and can unequivocally certify they are only 4x and not 7x. Continue reading if you are interested in my test process which anyone can do and can be used to test any optics. But first I want to iterate these Mako magnification specs are in-fact deceitfully printed along the ring of each unit, as well as in its listed advertising. This was a very disappointing revelation given the Mako Group's name used to be a sign of quality. All deceit aside, these bogus 7x (4x actual) units do appear to live up to the remaining specs as listed -i.e., Heavy duty, Rubber Armored, Multi-coated lenses, Nitrogen purged, shockproof, waterproof, and fogproof.I have owned these magnifiers for quite some time now and only recently noticed questionable reviews that led me to investigate further. My quest to ascertain the actual magnification factor was conducted as follows:In order to establish a test bases for accuracy I used binoculars (3x to 10x) and a rifle scope (4x to 16x). First I compared both against one another to verify they were accurately displaying subjects at the same size when set to the same matching magnifications. This was accomplished by setting the binoculars and the scope each to a power of 7x and looking through both at the same time. I looked at a target through one side of the binoculars using my left eye while viewing it through the scope using my right eye. I then slightly moved both the optics around until the sight picture in both eyes appeared aligned just the same as if looking through regular binoculars. From this perspective it is quite easy to determine if the target subject matches the same size in both eyes. These two test optics were dead on at 7x. I then adjusted them to other varying magnifications and was able to confirmed matching accuracy each time.I then tested this process using the Mako magnifier in the left eye and the scope set to the same 7x power in the right eye - to which a very disappointing difference in magnification was confirmed. Thereafter I adjusted the scope down until the magnification appeared the same as the Mako, and that was concluded to be only 4x. I reproduced the same results using the binoculars. There is no doubt we have been scammed. It has been so long since my purchase that I doubt I am eligible for any type of recourse. But at least I can post this review and hopefully spare others from the same deceit. I'd also encourage others that already own these magnifiers to run the same test and post your results here. Maybe we can see if I bought a bad batch (doubtful) or if this is widespread. No Elevation/Windage Adjustment! December 28, 2013 Bought and returned... You can't center the reticle, so it cannot be properly paired with a red dot or reflex sight. Unless you are lucky to get everything to line up of of the box, or don't care, you'll probably return it too. Worst optic ever! September 17, 2012 Zero stars! Image is blurry. Focus knob was very very hard to initially turn, but does not adjust focus. Do not buy! Unless you only need to look about 10 feet away, then it is focused. You would have better luck at a dollar store with a kids toy. No joke. I'm serious. If I owned Amazon I would be ashamed. Will never buy from Mako again. Stay away from grabagun September 15, 2012 I purchased the mako 7x magnifier. What I received was a gmg magnifier. Which I have found out that this is a lower quality product sold under mako defense. I tried it on 2 different red dots and the sights both become blurry. The only way it is clear is if you look at it with a downward angle. The mount is crooked. Service has been par at best. Just got a email that stated that model number and upc code in their catalog listing. Does it not match what is stated in Amazon? No it doesn't at all | 0% There are no reviews yet |
