Very efficient & effective for motorhome in muggy Florida. Great digital controls, good value. Highly recommend.
December 29, 2016
Bought for use in motorhome in muggy Florida. Knocks down the humidity quickly in this confined space (~200 sq ft). Solidly constructed, easy to hook up standard garden hose (remnant) for continuous draining, nice digital controls & indicator. Unit draws less power than many competitors, and does essentially go into low-energy idle mode when target humidity is reached until it needs to turn itself back on. Remembers settings even after switching off. Fairly quiet yet decent air flow. Exhaust can warm up the space but this is typical. Purchased from Amazon's Warehouse section for greater savings, came packed as new, no regrets.
Perfect size for apartments.
July 6, 2016
Love it! I had one of the smaller tabletop dehumidifiers and it was a total waste of money. I live in a 700 sqft apartment and this Frigidaire is the perfect size. I'm filling up a full tank in less than 8 hours! I'm talking what seems like a gallon of water! Unreal. With my the tiny table top I was barely getting a cup every couple days. It has three fan settings and on the lowest it's barely noticeable, the highest is more than tolerable as well but I only ran it initially to get my humidity down then switched it back to low which has been more than enough to maintain. The wheels make it super convenient to move around where needed and the fan speed is MORE than enough to circulate the entire air in the apartment through the unit.

The humidity setting couldn't be easier, simply select the percent humidity you want in the air and it automatically brings it down to that level then shuts off and only switches back on when it senses a rise in humidity again. It kicks right on when I have the bathroom door open taking a shower.

It came with the attachment for hooking a hose for constant draining but for my needs simply emptying the bucket (which has a handy flip up handle) is more than suffice. A beep alerts you when it's time for the empty and the unit shuts off. I have thought about sticking it in the bathtub with the hose if I ever had to take a long trip and letting it just drain down the drain until I get back.

All-in-all for the price you can't beat it. Don't waste your money on the smaller table tops and just go ahead and pull the trigger on this unit. The level of control and comfort this will give you will make it more than worth the price you paid.
In shock! Simply Amazing

I live in a small 1 bedroom apt. in S Florida and humidity has been a big problem which has gotten worse. My bathroom has no windows or exhaust fan and the wife takes long showers with extremely hot water IMO. Mold started to appear on the ceilings and growing on stuff inside closets and drawers, everywhere.

I received this unit, put in the hallway sucking air from the bathroom, went to the store, came back an hour and 20 mins later and found more than 4 pints of water already accumulated in the tank. This thing makes a HUGE difference, the air inside is now much dryer, towels dry hanging.

CONS: People taking out stars and complaining about the frequency the bucket needs to be emptied, use a hose or get a bigger one!

This dehumidifier works great. Much quieter then the one I had to replace that quit working. Really easy to remove the full bucket and carry to the sink to dump. A full container isn't that heavy, about 13.5 lbs, to carry with the single handle and to dump. I have a very large basement that had a high humidity of 60-70% or so it would fill the 13.1 container pints within the day, 12-24 hours. That is a lot of water it is pulling out of the air. My wife complained about mildew smell in the basement that she couldn't stay in there long. We would also get white mold on the stuff in the basement. I have read that you should keep the humidity below 50% (set to 40-45%)if you don't want mold so I set it on 45% relative humidity and after about a week of use it brought our very large basement to 45-50%. It does feel a lot drier and should eliminate the mold. I highly recommend this. It just really easy to use and works great. Nice and quiet too, about the same noise as a small window a/c unit running. When the basement is cool (60's) the humidity is low and the unit runs but don't pull much water. It works best in warmer weather (70's) which is when the humidity is high and mold can grow, warm and moist. So, I only run it during the spring and summer months to save electricity cost.

I used the bucket for about 2 weeks to try it out and then I switched to the continuous drain tube which I connected a piece of clear vinyl tube (1 1/4 inch outer dia, 1 inch inner dia) from Home Depot which I connected to a "T" connector that I installed on my A/C condensation line that runs outside. Since it is only gravity drain (no pump) I had to place my dehumidifier above the drain connection. I could have used a short piece of water hose but I like the clear tube so I can see that the water is flowing so I can check to make sure it is working. See pictures.
Excellent dehumidifier! Can't go wrong with this one!
April 13, 2015
I needed another dehumidifier after our previous one was recalled for a fire hazard. After researching and reading the reviews, I went to order the Frigidaire, and a newer model was available as indicated by Amazon's website. So I ordered the newer model and currently have it in our finished basement. So far, I'm very pleased with the unit. It's very easy to setup and operate. Has a extremely sturdy handle on the top, which can slide down and hide out of the way. The handle is great when you need to lift it a little to roll it around on the wheels. I set the humidity setting to 45% and have emptied the water holder a couple times. The fan shuts off and a little white light on the front at the top will flash to let you know it's full. Very easy to empty. Once empty, pop the water holder back in, and it starts right back up. One thing caught my attention; the fan seems to run all the time. This is not really a big thing for me, just a little unexpected. I thought maybe it would shut off when the right humidity level was obtained, but that's ok. The air coming out the side is a little warm, and with it being in the basement, it does seem to keep the chill off the rooms. Guess that can be looked at as a bonus. Overall, if you're needing a dehumidifier, you can't go wrong with this one..
UPDATE (4.16.15): I have this unit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013BKDO8/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_5) in the basement monitoring the humidity. After a couple days, it indicated the humidity was low. I adjusted the humidity setting upward on the Frigidaire. Next time I went down to check on the unit, the fan was NOT running and the water holder was NOT full. I stand corrected on the fan never shutting off.

this little hose gets tortured by hydrant pressure and it survives with no negative effect!
October 20, 2017
My middle school football coach uses this as a lead hose from the water supply to a 4-way splitter to 4 sprinkler to irrigate the practice field. The water supply is a non-reduced, full-hydrant pressure tapped off of a fire hydrant pipe! There is enough pressure that if we turn it on full blast, the sprinklers will flip them selves over. luckily, we split it to 4 of them. This hose bears that full high pressure with out swelling or leaking. I promise you, this little hose gets tortured when the water is on and it survives with no negative effect!
Good hose
April 27, 2017
I cut it to the length I needed, attached it to a dehumidifier in my basement and was able to send the water from the machine directly into the drain. Saves a lot of daily maintenance.
Great Hose
November 13, 2016
I purchased this hose, several years ago. It's a very sturdy hose that is still working well. I keep it outside on my front patio all year around. It's not in inclement weather, as I live in Southern California. For my needs, it works perfect. I'd buy again.
Five Stars - Great Value, Great Quality, & Durable - I'm very satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend it!

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this package came with not one, but two hoses! I use one hose to water my flowers, and connect the additional hose to this one when I want to wash my car, spray out the garage, hook-up a sprinkler, fill-up a pool, etc.I've had it for a few months now, and use it everyday to water my flowers, and it's at the same high quality, and durability as when I first got it.The price is unbeatable for the quality, and durability of these hoses. It's clearly made of high-quality material, and is very easy to hook up and use. Along with the price, it's a Prime purchase, and was at my door step in two days! These are the types of deals I love to find on Amazon.I haven't written many reviews, and paid the full price for this product, but felt the need to post a review for it because it was an unbeatable price for the quality, durability, and convenience this product provides.
Good bang for the buck
March 2, 2016
Hose seems to be built stronger than I expected after reading all the reviews. This was a black hose with gold strips. I'm going to use it as a suction hose with a small 12 volt rv pump and believe the 15 feet will allow me to get close to the waters edge with no problem. As many pointed out the fittings are thin metal and may not hold up well with continued use. I plan on splicing into the hose anyway to add barb adapters to fit the 1/2 pump connectors. Since I'm not even sure this will work, I was glad to be able to order a decent quality hose for such a reasonable price. I did take a look at Wal-mart RV hoses and none of the 15 foot ones were of the quality of this hose and the connectors were about the same and the price about a dollar more.
Well, It's a Nice Hose
August 20, 2013
This was a recommended addition to my purchase of the "Frigidaire FAD704DWD Energy Star 70-pint Dehumidifier". I use a gravity drain to a French Drain in the basement. The dehumidifier is about 10' from a hole into the drain and this hose did the job nicely. It comes rolled up and I had to run hot water thru it and then lay it out on the blacktop driveway in the hot sun to get it to lay straight.

After fully submerged, still works!
October 16, 2017
This has been great for monitoring my reptile enclosure/vivarium (IJ Blue Tongue Skink). My lizard knocked it into her water dish and it sat fully submerged for at least several hours. When I saw and pulled it out, the screen was blank and water was pouring out of all the holes. I took out the battery and let it dry out for 5 days. Popped the battery in, and it works! I now have it wedged so she can't move it around. (I used another gauge and a temp thermal gun to verify it's still giving accurate readings.) It's also helpful to know the highs and lows for the past 24 hours, since sometimes it can really vary. This has helped me maintain a more consistent level of humidity. Would recommend for anyone needing to monitor tropical/humid reptiles or amphibians.
works great - very accurate and rugged too

works great - very accurate and rugged tooI keep one in a grow tent and another clipped to the side of some er home grown herb bucket so I know how the plant is as well as the tent as a whole. dropped on the floor, dropped in mud and they still work great.I think I've just been lucky with my misuse but my special orchids bloom like crazy because these guys let me know exactly how my micro environment is doing.too big to use in 1qt canning jars tho.
Accurate, easily read, great price
January 22, 2017
I have tested this device against my other gauges and it has proven accurate, it is easily read, the memory of highs and lows are helpful when you're monitoring a room that may have issues or maintaining a walk in humidor or a room you want particularly dry like a server room.Another bonus is that the device comes with a clip that also has a magnet adhered to the back. I have mine stuck to a filing cabinet in a room I need to stay consistently dry.The price was great, have I any further need for a room hygrometer I will certainly be buying this one.
Bought 4 all the same see photo
January 8, 2016
Good product bought 4 all were the same, for $10 great deal, a very good humidistat would cost $100. I compared all 4 together after 2 hours they were all the same, even though two are off by one it is more like .2 after the photo I started to move one when I came back they were all reading the same.
Cost Effective, Good for monitoring house temperature fluctuations for pets at home.
July 27, 2014
We purchased this AcuRite monitor to see how much of a temperate difference we see in our master bedroom (which has poor insulation) and the rest of the house. During the first week I hung this unit next to our house thermometer and found it to be constantly one degree lower than our house reading. I have not way of knowing which one is more accurate, although I did notice that they moved in sync with daily fluctuations. It was very nice seeing what the daily fluctuations were, especially as we have to dogs and could not monitor what the house temperature fluctuations were while we were gone to work.Subsequently, we moved the monitor to our master bedroom. Curing the colder spring months we found out master bedroom about 2-3 degrees cooler than the rest of the house. It was reassuring to know that the difference was not greater. During summer months, we have noticed a 3-4 degree increase in temperature in the same room (compared to the listed temperature on our house thermometer. Again, during summer, the temperature move in sync. We do not use the AC much, so were see enough temperature variations to make this comment worthwhile.
Calibration Tests
April 6, 2012
I purchased two of these as I wanted something digital and I liked that it recorded the highs and lows for each: humidity and temperature. Right out of the package they both read identical humidity and temperature which was great. I then brought them to my work and put them in a stabilty chamber to test against a calibrated expensive humidty guage at 63.3% RH and 25.x C. Both units measured within a single percent of RH and ready 25 C. I then calibrated the units in a nitrogen filled instrument with a calibrated unit. The calibrated unit read 0.0 % RH while both units read 16. I figured out that these units DO NOT work below 20 % RH and instead display 16 %. I then tested them in open rooms compared to a calibrated unit at 20-30% RH and these babies read within a single unit of % RH and about 0.5 degrees C. I have no way of calibrating them higher and not sure how high they will read accurately but I'm curious to see what they'll read outside in the rain. Otherwise they are great units for the price.

Very good so far. Some issues, but I can deal with them.
August 3, 2017
Puts out a pretty good amount of water considering its reasonably compact size. This is also a fairly quiet unit even when running the fan on high. Unfortunately, the water container is awkward to remove. Better plan on spilling about a cup of water on the floor every time you empty the container. The water container is also a lot smaller than I had hoped for. I found that I have to empty it quite often. I ended up installing a permanent drain through the wall to the outside. The connector extension they provide is flimsy and it sticks out of the side of the unit awkwardly. Its not attractive at all and I don't expect it to last very long. I went ahead and got some epoxy glue on standby to patch it back together when it breaks.
Smaller water well, but very well made!!
May 23, 2017
I really like this product. You can see the 4 stars and that's because the water tank is small and needs to be dumped at least once a day if not more running on medium. I have it in the basement.I am going to try and vent the runoff with the drain line. Now, as others are reading this review you need to understand that each home will register intake differently and so this might be just what you need. The water well is a little difficult to extract when it's full, but better the difficult pull than water all over the floor. It's well made, not noisy, and feels from the weight of the unit that it's a great quality machine. I purchased this because of a gallery owner who runs 4 and she really likes this machine to lower the humidity. I have only been running it a few months and if I see that it stops will return to reevaluate this machine, but so far it's great.
Good Dehumidifier, Heat output is minimal.
November 28, 2016
Does a good job without putting out a ton of heat, saving electricity!! The timer is nice for short uses, so you don't forget to shut it off. Has a convenient handle on the catch bin (revealed when the tray is pulled out) to empty it. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that when you empty the catch bin, water pours out all over instead of just at the end that you want it to come out of- be sure to empty it over a large sink or tub if you don't want to get water all over. Amazon did send me notice of a recall on some Frigidaire dehumidifiers, but this WAS NOT one of the recalled models.
Works, but will cycle regularly regardless of humidity
October 26, 2016
This is the first de-humidifier I've ever used, so take that for what it's worth.

First, this unit is installed in the basement of a vacation home in TN. I didn't think I'd have a moisture issue given where the house is built, but after several months of no occupancy, there was visible green dust-like mold on everything in the basement, and there was a very musty smell.

After installing and running this unit for 4 straight days, I dumped about 25 gallons of water (bucket by bucket), and the musty smell completely went away. The air is noticeably drier (to the point I think I need chapstick).

Knowing that the unit would be running unattended for months at a time, I installed the drain hose and verified that it was working just fine. I also ran the power cord through a z-wave appliance switch so I could remotely turn the unit on and off. As an added benefit, the appliance switch also has a power meter (think Kill-a-watt) feature that reports real-time power consumption.

After the initial continuous operation, I switched to 50% on the humidstat. Feeling is was overly dry, I incrementally worked my way to 70%. I did not notice any significant difference in the cycling frequency or duration on any of the settings. It seems to run (fan and compressor) for about 3 minutes. Then fan only for about 3 more minutes. Then completely off for about 10 minutes... At which point it repeats. It'll do this whether it has been running for a week, or it's been off for 5 days.

So, I set up my z-wave script to have the unit come on for 24 hours every Monday. I would have thought that after being off for a week, it would run continuously for several hours to dry out the air, but no, it's still only running for 3-minute intervals.

Ultimately, I don't really care about the accuracy, precision or repeatability of the humidistat since I can remotely schedule the run time.

As for power consumption, I've attached a couple of graphs that show actual consumption and run time. Since the house is vacant, it's baseline load is about 9kWH per day. When the unit is on for 24 hours (cycling as described above), the additional consumption is about 2.5kWH per day. My electricity cost is about 10 cents per kWH. Thus, 30 cents per day.

Leaving it running 24/7 controlled only by its internal humidistat would run about $91 annually ($0.25 x 7 days/week x 52 weeks). With only one day per week, that comes out to $13/year - or just over a dollar per month.

Obviously running it only one day a week might not be enough. Perhaps running it 4 hours per day would be better? I just don't know yet. Further, I'm sure certain times of the year will see higher/lower moisture levels. Still a lot of learning to do.
Works very well. It isn't quiet, but the noise is not maddening.
October 26, 2016
I've never owned a dehumidifier before. The noise level was an important consideration for me, and this one is said to be relatively quiet. Well, it is and it isn't. The fan is quite loud, even on low -- loud enough that I have to turn up the TV volume, and I can't hear myself typing on my phone. There is also a refrigerator type humming sound at times, but it's not annoying (and refrigerator sounds tend to annoy me).

Fortunately, it does shut off eventually after it reaches the desired humidity level. Periodically it starts up again, but it doesn't run constantly.

The humidity gauge seems to work fine. I bought a separate humidity monitor for comparison, and they give similar results. Keep in mind that the dehumidifier measures in increments of 5, so you can't set it for, say, 38 -- it has to be 35 or 40.

It was easy to set up and start, although I wish it had a longer cord. I don't have a way to automatically drain it, but I find it easy to remove and empty the bucket. My unit arrived with some debris in the bucket, and I found it difficult to figure out how to remove the top to clean it (no instructions on this in the manual), but it can be done. One of the other reviewers explained how to do it (thank you for that), so I won't repeat it here. There is also a YouTube video that shows how to remove it.

As other reviewers mentioned, the dehumidifier gives off a lot of heat and can warm the room noticeably. I'm concerned that's going to be a problem for me in summer, but we'll see. The dry air may help compensate for that.

Overall: I was unsure about buying this because it's expensive and the reviews are contradictory, but it's working GREAT. If it lasts for several years without breaking, I will be a Frigidaire fan for life.

Yay, it's... a hose.
October 17, 2017
It's a hose. Fifteen feet long. Female screw-connect at one end, male screw-connect at the other end, both brass. Fairly durable reinforced rubber construction, but definitely not meant for 'heavy duty' industrial use or permanent sun exposure; there are more durable hoses on the market for that sort of thing. i don't know what else you want me to say, it's just a hose. I use it for draining my dehumidifier, but it would also be good for gardening or other things.
ok hose
June 20, 2017
I was fooled by the "Made in USA" tag to believe this might be a quality product worth the $11 I paid for it. It is not! After less than 2 weeks of sparing use, the hose blew out in the middle. The material just burst length-wise and released water all over the place. It's not that I'd have a high pressure on my water line, it's an old hose and I've never had this happen to any of my garden hoses before.Update: I had to change my review from 1 star to 4 star. It turned out that my house pressure reducer had gone bad and I was indeed getting getting supply pressure on all my lines (120 PSI). The fact that the hose burst instead of releasing the fittings at that pressure leaves a bad taste still. I suppose it would have held up ok if the pressure had stayed below 60 PSI.
Good hose, hose in pic is black
February 28, 2017
Good hose, hose in pic is black. I received green which was disappointing. Read description, colors may vary. My fault but they should have made it bigger so consumer can see.
Which is fine but misleading
August 28, 2016
I gave four stars because I thought I bought this black hose in the picture and the one I got was a maroon brick color. Which is fine but misleading. It fits my dehumidifier fine leaks from the connection spot but does the job.
It's a hose...
December 6, 2014
It's a functioninh, 15 foot hose. I use it for a drain off a dehumidifier and it works perfectly for that. One thing to note, the pictured black hose does not even come close to resembling what I actually got, thus why I give it 4 stars. I do realize it states actual product may be a different color, but not only was the color different but so we're the connectors...
does the job
August 26, 2013
Hose is the perfect length to drain the dehumidifier into the basement drain without having to keep the appliance right next to the drain; allows the dehumidifier to be in the center of basement and drain adequately

Needed something inexpensive to monitor partially finished, below grade basement. Have a dehumidifier set to run automatically in the space but no way to ensure it was operating +/- to setting. After two weeks of acclimation, the two still don't match but they are w/in ~ 5% of each other. That's all I needed to have confidence I wasn't allowing mold, etc. Can't be sure which is more accurate but this gets me in the ballpark. If you need pinpoint accuracy this may not be the unit for you.
Works fine but I recommend the ThermoPro TP50
May 13, 2017
Seems accurate, works and functions fine. I would recommend the ThermoPro TP50 over this unit though because i like its design better, its more compact, cheaper, and comes with a battery. This unit is also unable to reset the ranges whenever you want unlike the ThermoPro TP50 that can do that.
Considering the low price, this is a great little device!
December 17, 2015
Considering the low price, this is a great little device. When I first got it, about 60 days ago, I was extremely disappointed at the inaccuracy of it. Comparing it to other devices, the humidity and the temperature were each in error by close to 10 percent. However, I discovered that it was because I used a NiMH rechargeable battery, which is lower voltage than an alkaline battery (1.5v for alkaline, 1.25 for the NiMH I used). After 42 days, the device shut itself off completely; no "low battery" warning of any kind. When I replaced the battery with an alkaline AA cell, the temperature and humidity readings matched other devices closely. I experimented, trying different NiMH batteries, making sure they were fully charged. In each test, the temperature and humidity readings were off by about 10 percent when using a NiMH rechargeable battery, and the readings were accurate when using an alkaline battery. I would give this device 5 stars if the seller gave some information about the sensitivity to voltage; but they do not (as of December 2015).Another experiment I conducted with this device was to place it in a plastic bag with a small packet of desiccant in the bag. The humidity reading did in fact drop quickly, and matched the readings of tests I conducted with other devices. When I buy herbs, I place them in double-zip bags with desiccant to help preserve freshness and to prevent mold. But I always wondered how much difference the desiccant really made, and how many packets would be required to significantly lower the humidity inside the bag. It turns out that one 10 gram packet inside a 1-quart zip-lock bag lowers the internal humidity to below 10 percent. The desiccant packets can be dried periodically in a low-temperature convection oven, and reused. The AcuRite device is small enough, and easy to read while inside the bag, so is helpful to me for gaining some data to help keep my herbs fresher.
The temperature part works but it is NOT fast, no humidity speed/etc tests yet.
October 10, 2015
UPDATE - This helped me with adjusting the temp of my fridge (I do NOT recommend GE, check consumer reports at the library). Also adding a few full gallon jugs of water to the back of the fridge helped lower the temp swings that happen when you open the door (AcuRite keeps track of the lowest/highest temp for maybe 24 hours). Read up but it's probably not good to put easily spoiled items in the door and maybe the top shelf (depending on temp settings, fridge quality, etc)Original -I'll update later. For now it works fine after surviving some USPS brutality (you'll need an AA battery). When you turn it on it will SLOWLY start lowering the # on the temp display if your house is cool, I just assume it's taking its time to be more accurate. The display temp eventually matched my home's digital A/C temp setting. I learned that my A/C lowers the humidity a little too much. I hear plants can help that a bit, I recommend spider plants and snake plants for better home air quality, not sure about their effect on humidity though.
Very nice little hygrometer
March 21, 2015
Very nice little hygrometer. With any hygrometer you should check the calibration if accuracy is a concern. Many can be off by 3-5% - not critical in some cases, but definitely critical in precision acoustic instrument building as I do.Checking calibration is simple - I follow the directions from http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/pages/calibrate.html" A simple, easy to do at home means of calibrating hygrometers uses standard salt and a sealed container. Table salt, when used properly, will maintain an exact 75% humidity in a perfectly sealed environment. So, to do this, you'll need three items. First, obtain an airtight container such as a see-through tub with a tight fitting snap-on lid (the kind usually found in most kitchens). Alternately, a heavy-duty zip-lock bag will do. Second, you'll need about a teaspoon of salt. Third, any small, shallow open container is needed (to hold the salt in) such as a screw cap from a plastic bottle.Place the salt in its small container and add a few drops of water to moisten it. Don't dissolve it yet. With just a few drops of water, you'll get what you need, which is damp salt. Next, carefully place the salt in its small container, along with your hygrometer, into the airtight container. Please do not get any moistened salt on the gauge. Also, check to see that the starting point (current reading) is anywhere in the 40% to 80% range.Seal the container tightly. Note: if you have any doubt as to whether or not it is a perfectly sealed environment, double-it-up by putting it in a second container, or into a second baggie. Do not try to remove the remaining air trapped inside. Now, wait for at least 5 or 6 hours until the environment has stabilized. Do not open the container. Read the gauge's humidity % level. It should be exactly 75%. If it is not, note the deviation as being the amount your hygrometer is out of calibration. If for example, it reads 68%, the gauge is 7% low. If on the other hand it reads 80%, the gauge is 5% high"
Works like expected.

Cheap, works like expected.Has fridge magnet on the back, belt clip, and desk stand.Reads humidity very clearly, and temperature.Only star off, is no 'reset' button. You'd have to take out the battery for a second, to get the numbers to reset (highs and lows in humidity and temps). It also has a Celcius/Farenheit button in the back, to switch temperature readout. It also has an indicator (little house on the top right) to indicate if humidity is too much or too low.50% humidity is ok.Lower, and some people get a dry throat feeling.Higher than 90 and the air feels, and smells moist. The readout frequency updates about every 15 seconds. When I blew in the vents, it took the device about 1 minute to come to a stop (in rising humidity), so it doesn't work immediately. Can't tell how long the battery will last, and a last con would be that it has no backlight, and no alarm/timer built in (you'd think for a small device like this, they would incorporate a clock, as well as a weather predictor?).

Not sure yet...
March 31, 2017
Not sure about this yet. I started running it about a month ago on high and the humidity doesn't fall below 60%. My basement is 1200 sq ft and is open to the upstairs (no door). I should mention that I have hot water heat and no A/C, so no ducts, no air circulation. I do run a box fan on low in the back room of the basement just to circulate the air a little bit.
I will see how it works during the damp season and maybe modify my post.
I do believe it is operating correctly, about 50-75% full bucket each day. It is a 70 pint unit, but I'm sure that is at 100% saturated air at a certain temperature. It just seems like it should take more water from the air.
It is much quieter than my last one.
Still great unit but old unit is better.
March 14, 2017
Older model is a 5 star champ. Latest revision has a modified drain system that requires installing the supplied extension tube when attaching external drain hose. Rather lame as the part seems easy to lose.

Another flaw is this unit dumps about 3/4 cup water on the floor if you try emptying the bucket while its running. I have tried turning the unit off and tilting it in all directions prior to removing the bucket with no success. The only time it does not pour water out is if the bucket fills to the point the machine shuts down in its own.
good overall, badly designed details
September 26, 2016
Product works great in general, but there are some small things that are badly designed.

First the good:
- excellent for what it is supposed to do - removed humidity fast!

The bad - minor annoyance
Badly designed back "grill" plastic makes too much noise due to vibrations. A simple rubber dampener would remove the annoying noise

The scary bad part is ... the plastic connector for the external hose. First this part is useless and not needed, it is easy to mount the hose directly. The thread pf the plastic is bad and the hose would actually leak. THIS CAN RUIN YOUR FLOOR! (Yes, it is not the hose, I brought the part in a hardware store and tried all hoses)

Please do yourself a favor and do not use this part. the product is otherwise good
Prefer previous model of this dehumidifier
August 2, 2016
Prefer the previoius model with the rear discharge for continous drain. This unit drains out the side and the plastic attachment that screws to the housing in the unit leaked from the beginning and was not repariable, even with teflon tape. This had to be removed and the discharge hose attached directly to the housing by removing the bucket. Still can not access to tighten the hose to the unit as tight as I would prefer due to the male part being imbeded in the unit but thus far is not leaking and any leaks would be caught in the attaches bucket below but will have to watch and make sure that does not fill up or would defeat the purpose of he continuous drain...

July 30, 2016
This is ok, I paid $250 and a month ago and now see its 40 bucks cheaper. With that said, I would not buy this humidifier if you plan on manually emptying it. You will be making 3-5 trips to dump it per day and it gets old quick. Now some would say that means it works awesome OR is it that the water bucket is too small for the until. I had a Frididaire before this one was about 4 years old and it did the same job dehumidifying but the water collection bucket was twice as large as this one.

You get what you pay for. It's made very cheap, but does the job. Just don't use it with high pressure water or leave it in the sun. Simple hose fora very simple job.
It broke on the third time being used
October 28, 2016
On the third time I used it the hose ripped open from right under the metal part where the nozzle would hook up to. They sent me a brand new one and didn't have to ship the old one back so that was why it gets 3 stars.
Leaky unless you crank on it.
September 15, 2016
I had to return the first one because it leaked, then I almost returned the second one for the same reason until a co-worker suggested I tighten it down with a couple wrenches. I'm 6'-2" 200lbs ish, I think it's reasonable to expect that I should be able to tighten this with my bare hands. I attached 2 wrenches and tightened the hose down more, the leaking stopped. The hose does what it's supposed to, move water from A to B, but the connections are of poor quality and thus the 3 star review.
Jekyll and Hyde
April 28, 2016
Since I ordered two, this is a "Jekyll and Hyde" Review! Both hoses are thick-walled, appear to be 5/8" inside diameter. Black Hose functions perfectly. Hooked it's littermate Green Hose to it for an extra few feet... With a pistol-grip spray nozzle, Green Hose has a noticeable leak where it joins Blackie. Also, when I "flipped" Greenie the first time get get more length, it kinked. I have no way of tightening a crimp-type hose fitting, so I will live with the leak. Yes, I will order more, I love the length and will take my chances with more factory flaws. I will not return Greenie, not worth the effort and expense.

July 28, 2017
It seems fine but I have four sources of humidity readings in my basement (two dehumidifiers, a "weather station" and this one, and they vary by about 30 degrees from high to low in the same area, with no two readings even close... so I have no idea which is the most accurate. This reads somewhere in the middle of the others. I like the fact that it gives the high-low range on temp and humidity, in addition to the actual (?) readings for each. I just adjust the dehumidifiers for how it "feels" there.
Work good enough for me
March 23, 2017
These are great! However.. they need better calibration. I bought quite a few of these because they work out well for a quick glance of controls in the garden. Having five of these lined up right next to each other they all gave a different reading. Not way off, but enough if you want a more accurate readings. For me it's not going to stop me from using them but I do think they could still be closer in calibration.
Very convenient temperature and humidity monitor
September 11, 2016
EDIT: Stopped working after about a year and a half of just sitting on a shelf. Bottom of the screen went blank, and fresh batteries didn't help. These things are really handy to have around the house. We burn wood in the winter, which necessitates using a humidifier to keep the air comfortable. This little unit lets us monitor how cold the house gets overnight, as well as the humidity level. It's small and can stand on its own, so we typically move it from room to room to make sure heat is getting circulated properly. This coming winter we'll probably order another one or two.
I recommend trying another unit.
January 24, 2016
Good points: One unit read the correct temperature. The other unit was low by 2°F (1C). The RH on both units was accurate and responded quickly. The display is easy to read although most people expect the largest number to be the temperature, instead, that is the RH.Bad: The unit only works in whole numbers (integer) degrees Celsius. It then converts the temperature into Fahrenheit using those integer Celsius values. Some the temperatures are roughly displayed in 2°F steps. Most people want something with a tenth of a degree Fahrenheit reading. I hated it so much I gave one unit away. The other unit is only used for the RH reading.
Inaccurate & Slow Reader | Missing Clock & Date | No Backlit
January 19, 2016
PROS:- Affordable- Easy operation- Allows for the use of rechargeable batteriesCONS:- No backlit options. At nights, it is not possible to read the values.- Inaccurate reading and slow to reflect changes. Although my application is to keep an eye on the humidity of the space where my parrots are kept and so super precise readings are not required, there are discrepancies between identical units and in general by several stops in compare to other models. Some have reported drilling holes to increase air circulation for faster adjustments to the reading, but that is too much of a hassle.- I find it valuable to have a clock and date displayed as part of the panel.
Temperature reading - fine. Humidity reading - not so fine
December 31, 2015
I would love to give this a 4 or 5 star rating. The price is right. The temperature reading is pretty close to accurate, which is all I really wanted from this. I would agree with a lot of other reviews that point out the Humidity reading is hit or miss. I have two of these. I sat them side by side for a few days. The temperatures always agreed, but there was typically a 5 or 6 percent different humidity reading between the two. If one read 60%, the other read 66%. I live in Florida - it is alway humid. I really didn't buy these for the humidity information. However, if that is what you need, these may not be for you.

Worked Great... for 2 Years
August 23, 2017
The Good:
This dehumidifier worked great for 2 years... almost to the day. Drain hose functionality worked perfect. Humidity sensor seemed accurate.

The Bad:
After two years the F0 error began showing up. Unplugging and then plugging in seemed to get things going again. At first this would be good for a week, then a couple days, and then not even a day. I noticed more and more ice on the back cooling fins.

More:
I was using this in a basement of an air conditioned house in the midwest. Summer environment usually produced high humidity. I had burned through a few cheap $20-$50 dehumidifiers in years past. They would usually last about a season before becoming useless. I finally decided to get a nicer unit that I would not have to worry about. This Frigidaire filled that role nice at the start. The first year I just had to clean the filter and it kept pulling water from the air and putting it down the drain. During the second year things started to go downhill. Replaced at the 2 year mark. I cleaned the filter every six months when I replaced the furnace filter. I'm trying another brand's "higher end" dehumidifier to see if they do better before I go back to treating them as disposable.

+1 star for working great the first year

June 26, 2017
I purchased this because I live in the south and have a hard time with high humidity during the summer months. The unit does pull a lot of moisture from the air, but the amount of heat that the unit puts out is significant. The whole reason I purchased this was to get rid of the "sticky"feeling in my bedroom so that I could sleep better. However since I purchased this I am hot every night. Unfortunately my ac unit is unable to keep my house cooled to my liking in the summer so this dehumidifier makes it even warmer. If heat is not an issue for you the unit works great. However if warm temperatures are a concern then I would think twice. I have decided the sticky feeling is better than being hot and have discontinued use of the dehumidifier after less than a week of use.
tank removal very difficult
May 29, 2017
Revised: every time we empty the tank, water spills because it is SO difficult to remove the tank. I must lean over the unit, put a hand on each side and pry the tank away from th unit, while not bring so forceful as to slosh water or tip over the tank.
Changing my rating to two stars. Really want this to work and have had good experience with two 50 pint units...

Bought as a replacement for a recalled 50 pint unit which was still working well after several years. Quieter and seemingly more efficient, but the difficulty of removing the tank is a neat deal breaker. You must pull from both sides (using two hands) from near the bottom. It is very awkward and difficult. I'm always concerned that water will slosh out because of the force required. The old 50-pint unit had a center handle near the top of the tank, which was fairly easy to remove. Wish this one functioned the same way.
Sub-optimal
June 27, 2016
I bought this to keep in the basement of the house that's a little bit too humid in the summer but I was disappointed in this product.

The first issue was that despite dunning this thing on high for a week, it never brought the humidity down to 40 like I had set it. When I plugged it in, the unit read the humidity as 60% and it never got it lower than 50% once in a week.

The other thing that I hated about this unit is that the discharge lead is perfectly horizontal so water seeps out of the link between the machine and the hose as there is no vertical decline the first couple inches once the water has been removed from the air. I cut a length of hose and pulled it as vertical as possible to the drain and still water was dripping out where the machine was connected to the hose. (I grant a portion of this is because it was a crappy hose, but were the discharge to be released at an angle this issue would have been negligible.
Great Dehumidifier Until It Died
September 15, 2015
I purchased this model from Amazon back in April (2015). I was very pleased with the unit until this past Saturday when the unit died. After getting in touch with Frigidaire customer service, I was told the unit could not be repaired. Customer service did tell me I would receive a pre-paid bank card with the amount I paid for the dehumidifier. I'm happy about that, but disappointed that the unit - which I really liked - lasted less than six months. Like many others, I lament the poor quality control of so many products made today.

Crimped By Packaging
September 30, 2017
Lately, Amazon has been dropping the ball on shipping and packaging. I have more problems with how the product arrived than with the products themselves. This is another case. The hose leader is fine. Quality of the hose and fittings is fine. But the hose was wrapped with plastic strapping that was cinched so tight it crimped the hose in several spots. It will work for what I need it to do, but there's really no excuse for negligently damaging a perfectly fine product.
a few cents would have made it great!
September 15, 2017
Good hose - but kinda disappointed that there was no washer in the female connection.connected it to the faucet and water leaked everywhere - once I purchased and inserted a washer - worked great. Not that the is an expensive item - but going to the store to get one is a pain - and since its a few cents - the vendor could have easily included one.fell down on customer ease of use!
Doesn't work for horizontal applications
May 14, 2017
I attached this to my dehumidifier with a horizontal spout. After about 3 days, it started to leak from the neck. When I attach it to a regular vertical spout out side there is no leak.
Poor Quality
August 17, 2016
The hose I received is much cheaper than the one pictured. It's the very thin, fake plastic, green kind that kink and flatten very easily. Fittings are pretty low quality too. They leak unless they are screwed on very tight. It works OK for my application (dehumidifier to pump) but I was expecting a lot better quality from the photo.
O-ring started leaking after a few days and I needed to replace it.
August 8, 2016
The one I got was green instead of black (perhaps I didn't pay close enough attention to what I ordered. Additionally, the o-ring started leaking after a couple of days. I had to replace it. (I was using this to constantly drain from a de-humidifier.
I was disappointed when I got the hose out of box
October 1, 2015
For a price of this range I do not expect much from the product. However, I was disappointed when I got the hose out of box. It looks like an old hose with new end fittings installed. The surface is covered with scrathces and lack lusters. I use it outdoors under direct sun. It still works fine after two weeks, but I do not know how long it will last considering it comes in "used" status.

Partial functionality after only limited use.
September 15, 2017
I bought this to monitor temperature and humidity under my plant lights. Worked fine for a while, then the second number on the thermometer faded so that it can only be view from an angle. So something in the device display is not working properly. I can see no visible damage to the display Everything else continutes to work. New batteries did not help. I used this under my plant lights to monitor temperature and humidity....so perhaps moisture or heat caused the problem.
Works but not precise. (about 2 degrees of "separation")
March 23, 2017
It works for what i wanted. It seems to skip a degree though. I usually read 73-75-77, never see 74 or 76.But it wasnt needed for it's precision, and works for what i wanted it to.EDIT: Bought another that is more precise, to compare. Watching a climb of 75 to 77 degrees, this monitor stayed at 75 the entire time. Not very accurate. Only recommend if you are not worried about a degree or two of separation. Not what I wanted though.
Defective Manufacturing
February 25, 2017
I bought this a long time ago and it never worked, it would say 65 degrees f and ~25% all the time no matter what the temperature or humidity was. Clearly broken, but it was so cheap I wasn't going to return it.Recently I had it lying around and decided to open it up and see if there was anything interesting going on inside and lo and behold, I found a glaring problem. One of the legs of the temp/humidity sensor itself was never soldered on. There was solder on the solder pad where it should have been attached, but the leg was up and off to the left, nowhere near the pad.So I heated up my soldering iron and attached the detached leg. The monitor now works properly as far as I can tell. It's responding to temperature changes and humidity changes, though it's very slow to respond and I can't vouch for its accuracy yet.Bottom line, it's a poorly manufactured product, but if you have issues with it like I did, try opening it up and checking the solder joints. You might be able to fix it pretty easily.
... AcuRite 00613 Indoor Humidity Monitor due to its being recommended at another website
December 10, 2016
I bought the AcuRite 00613 Indoor Humidity Monitor due to its being recommended at another website. For the past couple of weeks I have had the AcuRite sitting next to a Fischer synthetic hair hygrometer - the least expensive, higher quality hygrometer I had been able to find previously. With my Honeywell evaporative humidifier on during the nights and off during the days, the AcuRite consistently reads about 13-15%age points less than the Fischer. I actually have two Fischers, and the second Fisher (usually in another room) is currently reading 3%age points lower than the first Fischer as they sit side by side. Still, that is a 10-12 point difference. I do not currently own a sling psychrometer (one of the most accurate measures of humidity), so I can't be certain which hygrometer is the most accurate, but I do know I'd be putting my money on one of the Fischers. Also, after the first week of using the AcuRite with its very small slotted vents, I drilled 20 holes in the plastic case to promote air circulation. It made no significant difference. I will note that the unit is very responsive to changes in humidity - just breathe on it and the numbers rise quickly, just, I suspect, not very accurately.
Incorrect calibration. unreliable?
April 29, 2016
My house has a weird humidity issue looks like. Disclaimer: My house is in a flood zone and we can see up to 12 inches of water in the crawl space sometimes. Yes, it scary! That said, I'm told that if you run the heater continuously; which is the case in my house as my wife is always feeling cold, the humidity falls to desert level conditions which would mean under 25%. The opposite happens in my house. In winter the humidity goes up when the heater is running continuously. A co-worker suggested that if there is lack of humidity, then it might be drawing humidity from some other source, which in my case would be the crawl space. But that theory does not hold good for the upstairs bedroom where the humidity goes up as well with running heater.Anyways, I'm sort of convinced this product is not doing what its supposed to be doing unless someone can tell me otherwise. So, I told Amazon customer service that I would like to return this. So, they sent me another one for free and told me to toss the first one in the garbage. The second one is way off as well...on the higher side. See the picture of both of them side-by-side showing different readings. They were in the same place together for quite sometime before I snapped the picture. The color variation is due to one being closer to the cabinet than the other. They are consistently showing different readings.
Cannot handle high humidity environments
December 13, 2014
I purchased this hygrometer to use inside a terrarium in order to monitor temperature and humidity. Unfortunately, it only worked for a few days before it began malfunctioning, the characters on the display fading away until they were completely gone. It appears to me that the device could not handle the high humidity conditions of my terrarium.I like the design and features of this Acu-Rite device, but if it can't handle humidity without breaking down it's not much help to me.If anyone knows where I can get a device like this that can handle high humidity environments (90%+) please comment below as I haven't had much luck finding a reliable hygrometer.

Would NOT Purchase again
September 15, 2017
Terrible, we've had nothing but trouble with it, purchased in July 2016, now replacing in September 2017. It's been acting up for months and now frosting up. We had a different brand for many years before this one and should have stayed with that same type of dehumidifier. Thank fully we bought the 2 year extended warranty on it. I am now filing a claim.
Purchase the extended warranty!!
July 5, 2017
Purchased FFAD7033R1 June 15 of 2016, unit failed July 4, 2017. All lights blinking in unison with accompanying "beep". Upon calling Fridgidaire customer service, they have no idea what the problem is and advised that "the best thing to do is to purchase a new one". In reading other reviews and jumping onto a few forums, this seems to be a common theme - very short lifespan. I will never purchase another Fridgidaire product due to poor quality control and inept customer service, and the replacement dehumidifier that I purchase will always have the extended warranty through Amazon from here on out.
JUNK
February 15, 2017
Only worked 6 months then quit running. Have repeatedly attempted under warranty to get repaired or replaced with zero success. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
Failed just outside warranty. Planned obsolescence.
September 30, 2016
I spent tons of time researching the best dehumidifier available. This one appeared to fit the bill. The price suggested it was built to a slightly higher quality standard than others.

After owning it just less than 14 months, the unit now continually shows the error code "F0" on the control panel. Unplugging the unit (buttons do not function while the unit has the error) and plugging the unit back in allows it to run, usually for less than an hour before it faults again. The manual suggests to check outlet voltage - it is extremely stable at just over 120 V. The control board appears to be junk.

Does not appear to be designed to be a long-lasting product. Appears to be built to fail just outside warranty (can you say planned obsolescence?) so you have to buy another one. Frigidaire will not be getting any more of my money.
BEWARE OF JUNK! Be advised that the CURRENT FRIGIDAIRE BRAND DOES NOT STAND BEHIND ITS JUNK!
June 1, 2016
We purchased this unit in May '15. It ran for about 4 months last summer, then I cleaned it and put it away for the winter. Upon starting the unit at the end of May this year, I noticed that it had stopped operating and was presenting an error code of "F0". The manual gave two things to check and said that you should unplug the unit and see if the problem persists. I did. The problem persisted. I called Frigidaire customer support. I was told that despite being days away from one-year from the purchase date when the problem presented, there was no relief. My only option -- "Buy another unit." Despite several attempts, the representative was unwilling to budge or allow me to speak to anyone else. We have purchased several Frigidaire appliances in the past, and they had good, useful lives. The company has changed. They are apparently selling junk with their nameplate, and they hide behind an inflexible warranty -- even with a long-term customer. We will not buy another item from this brand or its parent company.

Not for use indoors or with dehumidifiers. Avoid this product at all costs.
September 20, 2017
This is, by far, the single most (inadvertently) destructive product that I have ever purchased off of Amazon, and words cannot describe how much I wish I had noticed the other reviews on this item before purchasing it. The end connector on this hose is very poorly made, and leaks continuously... the result being that when it is hooked up to a dehumidifier, any water removed from the air ends up immediately on the floor below. In my case, I did not notice the leak for several weeks... so the situation is very bad.
Water leaking due to this hose.
July 27, 2017
Water leaks from the dehumidifier. I had attached this hose and next day my basement was partly flooded. I had made sure that it was tightly sealed. Water was still leaking through washer. It defeats the purpose of having dehumidifier when the water is leaking through water hose.

DO NOT BUY for use with a dehumidifier. Cheap connector leaks. Moisture removed from air ends up as water on the floor!
May 11, 2016
When purchasing a Frigidaire dehumidifier (model FFAD7033R1), Amazon displayed a "recommendation" that others often bought this hose along with the dehumidifier. It uses VERY cheap connectors. As others have noted in their reviews here, it leaks at the connector swivel point on the critical end and is unacceptable for use as a drain hose with a basement dehumidifier. The result is drip, drip, drip, at the connection, so that a lot of the moisture removed from the air ends up as water on the floor near the unit.Unfortunately, I did not take the time to fully read the reviews for this low-cost hose and essentially wasted $6.50 based on the Amazon recommendation. It would not be economically to return it (it would cost more than the price to ship it back). Also, in my case, I cut the opposite end down to obtain a better length (about 5 feet) since my dehumidifier is right next to floor drain.Do not buy this. Save the money. A trip to the local Home Depot or garden supply store would have been a much better idea in my case.
Fail after a week
June 17, 2015
This hose lasted a week before breaking . The compression fitting under the female screw cap constantly leaked and i just gave up on it. New Rubber washers I had - Teflon tape - nothing worked but to cut the end off and put a universal end on that I had. Look at the discoloration too..You get what you pay for on this one.

The connector hose that I received a bad one and it was unusable. It was rolled very tightly into a small circle causing the hose opening in the hose to be collapsed in multiple locations down the length of the hose. The wall of the hose was so hard that it could not be unrolled and the lumen of the hose could not be opened where it was collapsed. This hose appeared as though it was very old and it had been around for a long time. Therefore, this hose was definitely not usable. I called the Frigidaire company and they are sending me a replacement hose but I have not received it as of now. This is a disappointing experience.

Not Trustworthy
October 12, 2017
Have had this unit running for 24 hours now, and none of the readings are correct. Humidity reads in my apartment at 26% and the humidity level icon says its OK, which is NOT in a healthy range, according to the instruction manual. Also, it says my temperature is 79 degrees, and my thermostat reads 70 degrees. Not trustworthy. Don't buy this one!
Inaccurate by 5 degrees
August 12, 2017
I have had this now for a year and it is inaccurate by 5 degrees Fahrenheit. I have set the a/c in the house to 78 and it shows 73. I have also tested the area this sits with an infrared thermometer and that shows the temperature to be 77.8. I even changed the battery. Who knows how accurate the humidity sensor is. Not sure how this has so many good reviews.
AcuRite has a quality control problem with these.
June 5, 2017
purchased 6 of these over the past 5 yrs. and they worked great. Purchased 4 more in 2017 but they are way off. I lined all 10 of the ones we own in a row and the old ones all read within 1 degree or % of each other but the 4 new ones are way off. 9% humidity and 7 degrees which is huge discrepancy. All read different too.Used to be a good instrument for the money.
Worked well when it did... short lived.
April 24, 2017
I bought this on Dec 22 2016. It worked well for months. Today (April 24 2017), only 4 months later, I noticed it was not on/working. I swapped out the battery for a new one and it still did not work. I tried 3 different batteries (including ones from my TV remote that I know to be working) and still did not work. Sad it didnt work longer.
Buy something with a better return policy in case it is defective
December 5, 2016
Item is defective and has a terrible return policy. If you want to return it, you have to pay shipping and handling. After the company receives the product, THEY decide if it is defective. My product will not display anything below 53% humidity. I purposely put it in a low humidity environment and a high humidity environment for 24 hours each. I did the salt test and it displayed 72% humidity, which is close enough, but no matter what I do, it will not read below 53%.
Avoid -- Screen Not Working Within 2 months after purchase
March 5, 2015
Don't bother. Bought it mid January and two weeks after the return window to Amazon expired, the screen is displaying fragments of the numbers, i.e., the digital display is broken. Hasn't been dropped, submerged or damaged in any way. Apparently not good quality.
