Compact and useful.
September 18, 2017
After being partially flooded by Hurricane Harvey I wanted to try a dehumidifier. Since the storm passed and flood waters receded we have had unusually low humidity. This unit still removes more moisture and I will use it as long as it keeps working. It will probably end up in my gun safe where I'm pretty sure it will be very effective.
The little dehumidifier that will
May 10, 2017
Wow. This little machine kicks butt. I might need another. I won't hesitate to purchase again.I purchased and returned 2 other dehumidifies before I purchased this one. It's a keeper. Works better than expected. My area is 240 cu.ft.1 gipe I have is I wish it remembered the last setting after being powered down. Defaults to 45% No biggie. Gauge seems accurate.
Compact but powerful dehumidifier

The unit is small but it has worked well in getting the moisture out of the air in a 14 x 13 room. It is easy to empty and it is silent.
Amazon is Number one 1

This Dehumidifier is in my basement that I just remodeled and had carpeted. I noticed a dampness and that prompted my purchase, in the first week I dumped almost a half a bucket of water out of its trap. And there is a noticeable difference in the moisture level. Thanks again Amazon for yet another winner!

My basement had a mildewy smell because of water that had long since been absorbed into the carpet and walls. I bought a big air filter with UV and everything but still couldn't shake the smell or the feeling that mold spores were flying around about to make everyone who dared to tread down there sick. I bought the Ivation IVADM45 along with some DampRid. I really like the IVADM45 because I know its working because I can actually see and dump out the water it's pulling out of the air. It was exactly what I needed to make my basement livable again. I don't know what magical fairies are inside this thing making it work, but it works like magic and I'm happy not knowing how it does it as long as it keeps doing it.
Awesome Bedroom or Office Machine
May 3, 2015
Anyone complaining about the noise of this unit has NEVER tried sleeping with a regular unit. This IS whisper quiet regardless of anyone's review. Does it draw as much as a traditional unit? No,,, but it works great in harmony with traditional one. I use old one in stairwell... to have this in an office, bedroom or waiting area is SO FAR SUPERIOR to traditional unit; works as intended, very pleasant. It is 100% recommended to enhance a traditional unit for areas you don't want noise and bulk.

Very efficient & effective for motorhome in muggy Florida. Great digital controls, good value. Highly recommend.
December 29, 2016
Bought for use in motorhome in muggy Florida. Knocks down the humidity quickly in this confined space (~200 sq ft). Solidly constructed, easy to hook up standard garden hose (remnant) for continuous draining, nice digital controls & indicator. Unit draws less power than many competitors, and does essentially go into low-energy idle mode when target humidity is reached until it needs to turn itself back on. Remembers settings even after switching off. Fairly quiet yet decent air flow. Exhaust can warm up the space but this is typical. Purchased from Amazon's Warehouse section for greater savings, came packed as new, no regrets.
Perfect size for apartments.
July 6, 2016
Love it! I had one of the smaller tabletop dehumidifiers and it was a total waste of money. I live in a 700 sqft apartment and this Frigidaire is the perfect size. I'm filling up a full tank in less than 8 hours! I'm talking what seems like a gallon of water! Unreal. With my the tiny table top I was barely getting a cup every couple days. It has three fan settings and on the lowest it's barely noticeable, the highest is more than tolerable as well but I only ran it initially to get my humidity down then switched it back to low which has been more than enough to maintain. The wheels make it super convenient to move around where needed and the fan speed is MORE than enough to circulate the entire air in the apartment through the unit.

The humidity setting couldn't be easier, simply select the percent humidity you want in the air and it automatically brings it down to that level then shuts off and only switches back on when it senses a rise in humidity again. It kicks right on when I have the bathroom door open taking a shower.

It came with the attachment for hooking a hose for constant draining but for my needs simply emptying the bucket (which has a handy flip up handle) is more than suffice. A beep alerts you when it's time for the empty and the unit shuts off. I have thought about sticking it in the bathtub with the hose if I ever had to take a long trip and letting it just drain down the drain until I get back.

All-in-all for the price you can't beat it. Don't waste your money on the smaller table tops and just go ahead and pull the trigger on this unit. The level of control and comfort this will give you will make it more than worth the price you paid.
In shock! Simply Amazing
September 2, 2015
I live in a small 1 bedroom apt. in S Florida and humidity has been a big problem which has gotten worse. My bathroom has no windows or exhaust fan and the wife takes long showers with extremely hot water IMO. Mold started to appear on the ceilings and growing on stuff inside closets and drawers, everywhere.

I received this unit, put in the hallway sucking air from the bathroom, went to the store, came back an hour and 20 mins later and found more than 4 pints of water already accumulated in the tank. This thing makes a HUGE difference, the air inside is now much dryer, towels dry hanging.

CONS: People taking out stars and complaining about the frequency the bucket needs to be emptied, use a hose or get a bigger one!

This dehumidifier works great. Much quieter then the one I had to replace that quit working. Really easy to remove the full bucket and carry to the sink to dump. A full container isn't that heavy, about 13.5 lbs, to carry with the single handle and to dump. I have a very large basement that had a high humidity of 60-70% or so it would fill the 13.1 container pints within the day, 12-24 hours. That is a lot of water it is pulling out of the air. My wife complained about mildew smell in the basement that she couldn't stay in there long. We would also get white mold on the stuff in the basement. I have read that you should keep the humidity below 50% (set to 40-45%)if you don't want mold so I set it on 45% relative humidity and after about a week of use it brought our very large basement to 45-50%. It does feel a lot drier and should eliminate the mold. I highly recommend this. It just really easy to use and works great. Nice and quiet too, about the same noise as a small window a/c unit running. When the basement is cool (60's) the humidity is low and the unit runs but don't pull much water. It works best in warmer weather (70's) which is when the humidity is high and mold can grow, warm and moist. So, I only run it during the spring and summer months to save electricity cost.

I used the bucket for about 2 weeks to try it out and then I switched to the continuous drain tube which I connected a piece of clear vinyl tube (1 1/4 inch outer dia, 1 inch inner dia) from Home Depot which I connected to a "T" connector that I installed on my A/C condensation line that runs outside. Since it is only gravity drain (no pump) I had to place my dehumidifier above the drain connection. I could have used a short piece of water hose but I like the clear tube so I can see that the water is flowing so I can check to make sure it is working. See pictures.
Excellent dehumidifier! Can't go wrong with this one!
April 13, 2015
I needed another dehumidifier after our previous one was recalled for a fire hazard. After researching and reading the reviews, I went to order the Frigidaire, and a newer model was available as indicated by Amazon's website. So I ordered the newer model and currently have it in our finished basement. So far, I'm very pleased with the unit. It's very easy to setup and operate. Has a extremely sturdy handle on the top, which can slide down and hide out of the way. The handle is great when you need to lift it a little to roll it around on the wheels. I set the humidity setting to 45% and have emptied the water holder a couple times. The fan shuts off and a little white light on the front at the top will flash to let you know it's full. Very easy to empty. Once empty, pop the water holder back in, and it starts right back up. One thing caught my attention; the fan seems to run all the time. This is not really a big thing for me, just a little unexpected. I thought maybe it would shut off when the right humidity level was obtained, but that's ok. The air coming out the side is a little warm, and with it being in the basement, it does seem to keep the chill off the rooms. Guess that can be looked at as a bonus. Overall, if you're needing a dehumidifier, you can't go wrong with this one..
UPDATE (4.16.15): I have this unit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013BKDO8/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_5) in the basement monitoring the humidity. After a couple days, it indicated the humidity was low. I adjusted the humidity setting upward on the Frigidaire. Next time I went down to check on the unit, the fan was NOT running and the water holder was NOT full. I stand corrected on the fan never shutting off.

Nice
September 20, 2017
The operating instructions are easy to follow. The moisture extraction is relatively slow; but the unit uses much less power than the larger units. I like the fact that the humidity set-point can be set on the unit so it does not necessarily run continuously.
Good for the price
June 25, 2017
Nice design, relatively quiet. Works pretty well for the most part. I use it in my basement but it's not really meant for a large area, just a small room. Has auto shutoff feature when water tank is full which means you can just leave it on. Has a humidity setting, but the humidity monitor seems to be slightly off, not a big deal though.
The higher the humidity level the better this unit works
June 14, 2017
The higher the humidity level the better this unit works. When you get to about 55% humidity it basically stops working. If you're trying for "not a swamp" it's dandy. If you want "dry as dust" get a unit with a compressor.
Bought this for a motorhome, but it really does ...
April 4, 2017
Bought this for a motorhome, but it really does not pull that much moisture from the air. 4 stars because I could have foreseen this (I'm an engineer), and I'll still use it as larger units (that pull more moisture) are *way* larger and make much more noise. I don't blame Ivation for this, although I think the room size is probably optimistic.
Good but not for a large room
March 10, 2017
This is a sturdy, attractive, and low noise unit that works well. My only regret is that it hardly clears the moisture from our small living room, despite having it on for hours. We don't live in an especially humid environment either, but in the winter the windows aren't open due to the cold so moisture can collect overnight on the windows. The description of how big a room it is suitable for was vague and confusing. It described the area in cubic feet, not square feet, so I thought it would cover a larger room that it was set up to do. The one step up larger model wasn't available, either. So, I wouldn't call this a powerful mid size, unless you are thinking about large closets or bathrooms.
but I live 2 city blocks from the ocean so it gets pretty humid during the summer months
August 19, 2016
I bought this unit for my bedroom, only 200sq feet, but I live 2 city blocks from the ocean so it gets pretty humid during the summer months. I use to have a traditional type of dehumidifier with a compressor, Delonghi. The traditional compressor dehumidifier sucks up moisture really fast compare to this one, but they also suck up electricity and noisy and heavey. This machine is 1/3 of the price of my old dehumidifier, less than 1/10 of the noise, less than a third of the size, and without a compressor I am sure electricity is less too. I like the humidity sensor so it turns off by itself. It does not reduce moisture fast, but its good enough for what I need.

Very good so far. Some issues, but I can deal with them.
August 3, 2017
Puts out a pretty good amount of water considering its reasonably compact size. This is also a fairly quiet unit even when running the fan on high. Unfortunately, the water container is awkward to remove. Better plan on spilling about a cup of water on the floor every time you empty the container. The water container is also a lot smaller than I had hoped for. I found that I have to empty it quite often. I ended up installing a permanent drain through the wall to the outside. The connector extension they provide is flimsy and it sticks out of the side of the unit awkwardly. Its not attractive at all and I don't expect it to last very long. I went ahead and got some epoxy glue on standby to patch it back together when it breaks.
Smaller water well, but very well made!!
May 23, 2017
I really like this product. You can see the 4 stars and that's because the water tank is small and needs to be dumped at least once a day if not more running on medium. I have it in the basement.I am going to try and vent the runoff with the drain line. Now, as others are reading this review you need to understand that each home will register intake differently and so this might be just what you need. The water well is a little difficult to extract when it's full, but better the difficult pull than water all over the floor. It's well made, not noisy, and feels from the weight of the unit that it's a great quality machine. I purchased this because of a gallery owner who runs 4 and she really likes this machine to lower the humidity. I have only been running it a few months and if I see that it stops will return to reevaluate this machine, but so far it's great.
Good Dehumidifier, Heat output is minimal.
November 28, 2016
Does a good job without putting out a ton of heat, saving electricity!! The timer is nice for short uses, so you don't forget to shut it off. Has a convenient handle on the catch bin (revealed when the tray is pulled out) to empty it. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that when you empty the catch bin, water pours out all over instead of just at the end that you want it to come out of- be sure to empty it over a large sink or tub if you don't want to get water all over. Amazon did send me notice of a recall on some Frigidaire dehumidifiers, but this WAS NOT one of the recalled models.
Works, but will cycle regularly regardless of humidity
October 26, 2016
This is the first de-humidifier I've ever used, so take that for what it's worth.

First, this unit is installed in the basement of a vacation home in TN. I didn't think I'd have a moisture issue given where the house is built, but after several months of no occupancy, there was visible green dust-like mold on everything in the basement, and there was a very musty smell.

After installing and running this unit for 4 straight days, I dumped about 25 gallons of water (bucket by bucket), and the musty smell completely went away. The air is noticeably drier (to the point I think I need chapstick).

Knowing that the unit would be running unattended for months at a time, I installed the drain hose and verified that it was working just fine. I also ran the power cord through a z-wave appliance switch so I could remotely turn the unit on and off. As an added benefit, the appliance switch also has a power meter (think Kill-a-watt) feature that reports real-time power consumption.

After the initial continuous operation, I switched to 50% on the humidstat. Feeling is was overly dry, I incrementally worked my way to 70%. I did not notice any significant difference in the cycling frequency or duration on any of the settings. It seems to run (fan and compressor) for about 3 minutes. Then fan only for about 3 more minutes. Then completely off for about 10 minutes... At which point it repeats. It'll do this whether it has been running for a week, or it's been off for 5 days.

So, I set up my z-wave script to have the unit come on for 24 hours every Monday. I would have thought that after being off for a week, it would run continuously for several hours to dry out the air, but no, it's still only running for 3-minute intervals.

Ultimately, I don't really care about the accuracy, precision or repeatability of the humidistat since I can remotely schedule the run time.

As for power consumption, I've attached a couple of graphs that show actual consumption and run time. Since the house is vacant, it's baseline load is about 9kWH per day. When the unit is on for 24 hours (cycling as described above), the additional consumption is about 2.5kWH per day. My electricity cost is about 10 cents per kWH. Thus, 30 cents per day.

Leaving it running 24/7 controlled only by its internal humidistat would run about $91 annually ($0.25 x 7 days/week x 52 weeks). With only one day per week, that comes out to $13/year - or just over a dollar per month.

Obviously running it only one day a week might not be enough. Perhaps running it 4 hours per day would be better? I just don't know yet. Further, I'm sure certain times of the year will see higher/lower moisture levels. Still a lot of learning to do.
Works very well. It isn't quiet, but the noise is not maddening.
October 26, 2016
I've never owned a dehumidifier before. The noise level was an important consideration for me, and this one is said to be relatively quiet. Well, it is and it isn't. The fan is quite loud, even on low -- loud enough that I have to turn up the TV volume, and I can't hear myself typing on my phone. There is also a refrigerator type humming sound at times, but it's not annoying (and refrigerator sounds tend to annoy me).

Fortunately, it does shut off eventually after it reaches the desired humidity level. Periodically it starts up again, but it doesn't run constantly.

The humidity gauge seems to work fine. I bought a separate humidity monitor for comparison, and they give similar results. Keep in mind that the dehumidifier measures in increments of 5, so you can't set it for, say, 38 -- it has to be 35 or 40.

It was easy to set up and start, although I wish it had a longer cord. I don't have a way to automatically drain it, but I find it easy to remove and empty the bucket. My unit arrived with some debris in the bucket, and I found it difficult to figure out how to remove the top to clean it (no instructions on this in the manual), but it can be done. One of the other reviewers explained how to do it (thank you for that), so I won't repeat it here. There is also a YouTube video that shows how to remove it.

As other reviewers mentioned, the dehumidifier gives off a lot of heat and can warm the room noticeably. I'm concerned that's going to be a problem for me in summer, but we'll see. The dry air may help compensate for that.

Overall: I was unsure about buying this because it's expensive and the reviews are contradictory, but it's working GREAT. If it lasts for several years without breaking, I will be a Frigidaire fan for life.

Worked fine but disappointed in the end
July 5, 2017
I bought this because my apartment gets humid in the summer. It worked great for the two summers that I used it until it randomly died recently. When it's not being used, it's packed up nicely in the box. The humidity setting lights up when it's plugged in, and I can adjust it but the dehumidifier doesn't actually kick on anymore when the humidity gets higher than the desired setting....which I learned the hard way from being out of town for the weekend and returning to the inside of my apartment at 70% humidity level. It's unfortunate that this unit couldn't last more than 2 summers and I'm very disappointed since it wasn't cheap. I would think twice before purchasing it, and research other options.
Don't waste money on this type
March 5, 2017
This only lasted less than 6 months. Try to find the room for a traditional dehumidifier. Don't waste money on this type.
Its ok
January 3, 2017
It doesnt work for up to the square footage listed. We bought it for our 30 ft travel trailer. It does remove humidity, but not nearly as well as it states. We live in the damp pacific northwest so mouisture is an issue. It doesnt remove the amount of humidity it promises. After letting it run on lowest humidity setting for 4 days continuous I emptied 2 cups. I should have spent the additional 50 dollars and got a bigger model. I may still be sending this one back.
Only good for smaller rooms
September 5, 2016
Don't trust the description where it says it's good for 2,200 sq. ft. but the reality is it's just not powerful enough for that size of a room. Realistically speaking, it's probably only good for a medium sized closet. Also, it's better for a small confined space instead of an open room.
Sort of works...
May 2, 2016
I wanted to buy something that I could run off my solar electric system. This runs off 12 volts (usually provided by an included DC converter), so I was able to simply cut the power cable and splice it into my 12 volt array. That part worked fine, and I run this unit when the sun is shining on my panels and the batteries are all full. So in that way, it's nice that it's working for "free". It's not squeezing water out of the air like crazy or anything though. Granted, it says the minimum air temp is 50 degrees F for this to work, and my basement is 62, so maybe it'd work better in a warmer environment. My relative humidity is about 55 percent currently, and running all afternoon, it's maybe getting a third to a half a cup of water per 8 hours. So it's not getting nothing, but it's nothing impressive. I've bought these "Thermo-Electric" devices before. Last one was a 12 volt cooler - and my feeling on the effectiveness of that unit were on par with this one. It just doesn't work that great - it just sort-of-works.
Doesn't work for basement
July 14, 2015
The unit runs good but it does not pull any humidity out of your basement. I only have to empty it once a week because it is not removing any moisture in the air. On the description it says it will work for basements but I think I should have gotten a bigger unit.

Not sure yet...
March 31, 2017
Not sure about this yet. I started running it about a month ago on high and the humidity doesn't fall below 60%. My basement is 1200 sq ft and is open to the upstairs (no door). I should mention that I have hot water heat and no A/C, so no ducts, no air circulation. I do run a box fan on low in the back room of the basement just to circulate the air a little bit.
I will see how it works during the damp season and maybe modify my post.
I do believe it is operating correctly, about 50-75% full bucket each day. It is a 70 pint unit, but I'm sure that is at 100% saturated air at a certain temperature. It just seems like it should take more water from the air.
It is much quieter than my last one.
Still great unit but old unit is better.
March 14, 2017
Older model is a 5 star champ. Latest revision has a modified drain system that requires installing the supplied extension tube when attaching external drain hose. Rather lame as the part seems easy to lose.

Another flaw is this unit dumps about 3/4 cup water on the floor if you try emptying the bucket while its running. I have tried turning the unit off and tilting it in all directions prior to removing the bucket with no success. The only time it does not pour water out is if the bucket fills to the point the machine shuts down in its own.
good overall, badly designed details
September 26, 2016
Product works great in general, but there are some small things that are badly designed.

First the good:
- excellent for what it is supposed to do - removed humidity fast!

The bad - minor annoyance
Badly designed back "grill" plastic makes too much noise due to vibrations. A simple rubber dampener would remove the annoying noise

The scary bad part is ... the plastic connector for the external hose. First this part is useless and not needed, it is easy to mount the hose directly. The thread pf the plastic is bad and the hose would actually leak. THIS CAN RUIN YOUR FLOOR! (Yes, it is not the hose, I brought the part in a hardware store and tried all hoses)

Please do yourself a favor and do not use this part. the product is otherwise good
Prefer previous model of this dehumidifier
August 2, 2016
Prefer the previoius model with the rear discharge for continous drain. This unit drains out the side and the plastic attachment that screws to the housing in the unit leaked from the beginning and was not repariable, even with teflon tape. This had to be removed and the discharge hose attached directly to the housing by removing the bucket. Still can not access to tighten the hose to the unit as tight as I would prefer due to the male part being imbeded in the unit but thus far is not leaking and any leaks would be caught in the attaches bucket below but will have to watch and make sure that does not fill up or would defeat the purpose of he continuous drain...
Now some would say that means it works awesome OR is it that the water bucket is too ...
July 30, 2016
This is ok, I paid $250 and a month ago and now see its 40 bucks cheaper. With that said, I would not buy this humidifier if you plan on manually emptying it. You will be making 3-5 trips to dump it per day and it gets old quick. Now some would say that means it works awesome OR is it that the water bucket is too small for the until. I had a Frididaire before this one was about 4 years old and it did the same job dehumidifying but the water collection bucket was twice as large as this one.

Power cord issue.
May 9, 2017
I have had this for about a year (only used in the summer). My power cord has stopped working. The problem is where it plugs into the machine (it seems that it might have melted due to heat)Now I can't get it to work because the cord shorts out at that spot. I need a replacement one, but can't find anywhere to get one. It has an odd shape that plugs into to unit.
Underwhelming
April 2, 2017
Did not lower the humidity in our crawlspace. It sat there for 3 weeks or so and only gave me about 3 cups of water. I expected more when I read the product description information. When I went to check on it the last time it was completely Frozen. The back grate had a large lobe of ice and the inside was almost completely iced up. The crawlspace is chilly, but not THAT chilly....
Doesn't suck up as much water as i hoped.
February 4, 2016
We bought this to replace our old one (Haier band) after it started leaking. There's no ventilation in our bathroom so moisture from the shower would build up in the bathroom and bedroom and cause mold. Our old one was for a much bigger area(held about 3x as much water as this one) and would be full after only 3-4 days. This new one is much smaller than I expected and after 3 weeks of use, continuously running, it's barely half full. I haven't emptied it once yet. Kind of disappointed after hearing good things.PRO: It is quiet though!!
Nice Size and Quiet Dehumidifier, But Does Not Function As Advertised
January 21, 2015
This dehumidifier was just the right size for the small space we wished to use it in, and it was very quiet, so we were excited to utilize it in a mildly-humid area of our tiny home.Unfortunately the unit did not work as described. After steady use for about four days straight, there was barely any water in the collection basin, and the humidifier readings on our thermometer did not change at all until we opened a window or door in the room. This was extremely disappointing as I expected more from a dehumidifier that cost almost $90.00 and claimed to work in a room almost four times larger than we had.We returned this to Amazon and are waiting for our refund. Perhaps we just purchased a defective unit, but I would not recommend this product based on our experience.

July 14, 2014
The Ivation Dehumidifier might be fine for a very small (tiny) room and perhaps I am expecting too much from the unit. It doesn't work well for a bedroom at all! The idea behind the unit is terrific but it certainly has limitations. I would not invest in another one. Instead I had to buy a "real dehumidifier" that really removes moisture from the air. I wish I could give a better review but I am disappointed and I wanted to give an honest evaluation. Sorry!
20.5 oz of water per day is only the start of it
July 12, 2014
I recently moved into a house in the middle of summer and found myself in need of a dehumidifier. The walls and pipes in the basement dripped of condensation and because I plan on using this area for storage I would like it to have relatively low humidity. I ordered this unit along with an independent hygrometer. The hygrometer ranged from 85%- 95% relative humidity. I was in desperate need of something to get the water out of the air.My main worries were that the dehumidifier would run constantly and spike my electric bill, so I wanted one with a humidistat. I was still afraid a traditional dehumidifier, with a compressor, would contribute to unwanted heat to my home. I knew since my basement is only a partial and a mere 1,800 cubic feet a smaller unit would be fine. With all of this in mind I went to Amazon and found this unit. It uses Peltier technology instead of a compressor, has a humidistat, and can condition up to 2,200 cubic feet while getting 25 oz of water per day. With the three reviews it had at the time I was hesitant because they all seemed to be given instead of purchased and I'm always wary of buying more pricey electronics and appliances without excellent reviews. It seemed perfect! When I got it, it did seem very small, but considering it didn't have a compressor, it didn't have to be so big so I looked past the size. The cord has a converter for it, like a laptop. I plugged it in and turned it on. The first thing I notice is how quiet it is. In a dead silent room, it can be heard, but it is very quiet. The second thing I noticed was the barely noticeable, minute amount of air it was actually moving through the unit. When I put a piece of paper up to it, the paper sways slightly, but that could have been me breathing. I will give it this, it has two vents on the side the air comes out from, so the air passing through it is actually divided up. The third thing I noticed was there is no sort of filter on this device. If there is a filter, it can't be serviced. I just set it up in my basement and the meter on the unit read 85 and the hygrometer read 89%. I went back upstairs and took another look at the box and it said it could extract 20.5 oz of water out of the air. This is just poor advertising and reviews on most other reviewer's part. Most reviews are just repeating what the description on here is saying. Most didn't even notice this misprint on Amazon. I let the unit run for a day and went to check on it. The reservoir had a little under two cups in it, about 15oz. So in reality, it is a third less productive than the Amazon description is claiming. After almost a month this has done little to help with the moisture in the air. It ranges from 80-90% relative humidity now, but isn't even close to enough to prevent mold or excessive condensation. It's a shame there wasn't a larger fan, because I feel this is the bottle neck of the unit. I think it just needs more air to go through to so it can process more. It is what it is. It still only takes about two cups of water out of the air, but still isn't enough, nor is it what it claims to take out of the air.I wouldn't suggest this for anyone. It lacks basic features like a hose attachment and a filter. It doesn't stay up to par with what it claims it can do and just seems poorly designed.Pros: Small, Quiet, Doesn't Produce Much HeatCons: Overpriced for performance, Under performed, No Filter, No Hose Attachment Option, Doesn't Move Enough Air##Update##After 2.5 months this unit will no longer accurately measure humidity. After heavy rains and a very damp basement floor I really needed this unit to pull its weight. Not only did it fail the simple task of staying on and trying its best to keep humidity out of the air, it has been reading the RH as 40 - 45% RH. Because the lowest setting on this unit is 40% it is toggling on and off constantly while doing absolutely nothing to keep moisture out of the air. I have a suspicion the sensor is covered with dust, another issue arising from no filter, and I might open it up myself and clean it out.Marketing this for a very generalized purpose wasn't a good idea. This only moves and conditions enough air, in my opinion, for a very small area with little to no new moisture entering the area. Because it has no screen, it shouldn't be used in areas where dust build-up might occur. Perhaps its use could be for sealed crawl spaces, closets, and maybe a small bathroom where venting is not an option. I only say this would be helpful for the bathroom because a full sized dehumidifier is unreasonably large for most bathrooms. I still have an issue with the price of this, as it does not squeeze the amount of water out of the air as it promises. It reminds me of a knock-off, overpriced specialty tool that is only good for so much and not very good at doing it. In most of these cases there are more productive and economical ways to fix excessive moisture where constant maintenance of emptying a bucket in tight areas isn't easy. I purchased this unit at $114.99 and would only consider buying this again, if I had a use for it in a closet, crawl space or something similar and if the price dropped to below $50. Worked Great... for 2 Years
August 23, 2017
The Good:
This dehumidifier worked great for 2 years... almost to the day. Drain hose functionality worked perfect. Humidity sensor seemed accurate.

The Bad:
After two years the F0 error began showing up. Unplugging and then plugging in seemed to get things going again. At first this would be good for a week, then a couple days, and then not even a day. I noticed more and more ice on the back cooling fins.

More:
I was using this in a basement of an air conditioned house in the midwest. Summer environment usually produced high humidity. I had burned through a few cheap $20-$50 dehumidifiers in years past. They would usually last about a season before becoming useless. I finally decided to get a nicer unit that I would not have to worry about. This Frigidaire filled that role nice at the start. The first year I just had to clean the filter and it kept pulling water from the air and putting it down the drain. During the second year things started to go downhill. Replaced at the 2 year mark. I cleaned the filter every six months when I replaced the furnace filter. I'm trying another brand's "higher end" dehumidifier to see if they do better before I go back to treating them as disposable.

+1 star for working great the first year

I purchased this because I live in the south and have a hard time with high humidity during the summer months. The unit does pull a lot of moisture from the air, but the amount of heat that the unit puts out is significant. The whole reason I purchased this was to get rid of the "sticky"feeling in my bedroom so that I could sleep better. However since I purchased this I am hot every night. Unfortunately my ac unit is unable to keep my house cooled to my liking in the summer so this dehumidifier makes it even warmer. If heat is not an issue for you the unit works great. However if warm temperatures are a concern then I would think twice. I have decided the sticky feeling is better than being hot and have discontinued use of the dehumidifier after less than a week of use.
tank removal very difficult
May 29, 2017
Revised: every time we empty the tank, water spills because it is SO difficult to remove the tank. I must lean over the unit, put a hand on each side and pry the tank away from th unit, while not bring so forceful as to slosh water or tip over the tank.
Changing my rating to two stars. Really want this to work and have had good experience with two 50 pint units...

Bought as a replacement for a recalled 50 pint unit which was still working well after several years. Quieter and seemingly more efficient, but the difficulty of removing the tank is a neat deal breaker. You must pull from both sides (using two hands) from near the bottom. It is very awkward and difficult. I'm always concerned that water will slosh out because of the force required. The old 50-pint unit had a center handle near the top of the tank, which was fairly easy to remove. Wish this one functioned the same way.
Sub-optimal
June 27, 2016
I bought this to keep in the basement of the house that's a little bit too humid in the summer but I was disappointed in this product.

The first issue was that despite dunning this thing on high for a week, it never brought the humidity down to 40 like I had set it. When I plugged it in, the unit read the humidity as 60% and it never got it lower than 50% once in a week.

The other thing that I hated about this unit is that the discharge lead is perfectly horizontal so water seeps out of the link between the machine and the hose as there is no vertical decline the first couple inches once the water has been removed from the air. I cut a length of hose and pulled it as vertical as possible to the drain and still water was dripping out where the machine was connected to the hose. (I grant a portion of this is because it was a crappy hose, but were the discharge to be released at an angle this issue would have been negligible.
Great Dehumidifier Until It Died
September 15, 2015
I purchased this model from Amazon back in April (2015). I was very pleased with the unit until this past Saturday when the unit died. After getting in touch with Frigidaire customer service, I was told the unit could not be repaired. Customer service did tell me I would receive a pre-paid bank card with the amount I paid for the dehumidifier. I'm happy about that, but disappointed that the unit - which I really liked - lasted less than six months. Like many others, I lament the poor quality control of so many products made today.

It looks like it should work but it's pretty much just makes noise. Don't buy. It's not effective at dehumidifying.
September 4, 2017
I have two dehumidifiers and this one was way more expensive than the other which we got for a large room but it is less effective. It has a setting which really doesn't do anything at all. Setting the level pretty much has no effect on the humidity of the room. We thought maybe it was placement but we've now tried it in all areas of the room and it has little to no effect.
Not powerful. Not effective.
June 26, 2017
We did not find this unit to be useful or effective. We returned it after one day. The seller honored their return policy.
Wouldn't recommend.
June 6, 2017
We put it in a smaller room in our basement to help prevent any musty smell (we have another larger unit in the main room in the basement). It has been running for a week and hasn't filled up once while we empty the other unit every 2 days. It is set at 55 % humidity but can't bring the humidity below 60%. Our basement is smaller than the size this unit claims to be able to handle. Wouldn't recommend.
I would have returned it for a refund but I threw away the box thinking it looked like a cool little unit
October 4, 2016
I ordered this for a small room that is only 960 cubic feet; this is rated for over 2000 cubic feet and can't keep up. It has taken over a week to fill the tank only half way and the tank is small, really small. I have it set for 55% and the room is always at 80%. I would have returned it for a refund but I threw away the box thinking it looked like a cool little unit. It has been plugged in for over a month now and I have only emptied the water three times and never due to the tank being full. I wish I would have spent a little more for a bigger unit now I'm out a hundred bucks for something that doesn't work.
Weak, does not remove much water from air
February 17, 2016
Not up to the task. First bought the smaller ...20 and it was not removing much water per day and not lowering the humidity, which was about 75%. Room was only about 1200 cubic feet. Bought the ..45 and still not removing much water. I have fans moving air around in the room, and control the temperature at about 75 deg, F Read about the technology on Wikipedia and it states the reason these are not popular is they are very week in removing water. I have ordered a unit with compressor, the primary type of dehumidifiers. For just another $50 I should be able to remove up to 30 pints per day!! rather than a few ounces.
Does not perform as described
February 2, 2016
it is small and quiet, but after a week of constant operation it has failed to significantly reduce humidity. I set it to 20% (lowest setting) in less than 2000 cubic foot space with 70% humidity and it has only come down to 57%. My old compressor style dehumidifier is big and loud and took less than a couple of hours to reduce the humidity from 70% to 50% and if set to its lowest setting, it takes over night to get to 45%. All of my trials were measured with 4 acu-rite temp/humidity devices. I would exchange it in hopes that this is a faulty unit, but I won't because I have to pay for shipping on the return (they will only reimburse $10.59 shipping - not the total). I guess if it seems to good to be true...it probably is. I wouldn't worry about having to empty the tray as the water seems to evaporate from it as fast as the machine takes it out of the air.

Would NOT Purchase again
September 15, 2017
Terrible, we've had nothing but trouble with it, purchased in July 2016, now replacing in September 2017. It's been acting up for months and now frosting up. We had a different brand for many years before this one and should have stayed with that same type of dehumidifier. Thank fully we bought the 2 year extended warranty on it. I am now filing a claim.
Purchase the extended warranty!!
July 5, 2017
Purchased FFAD7033R1 June 15 of 2016, unit failed July 4, 2017. All lights blinking in unison with accompanying "beep". Upon calling Fridgidaire customer service, they have no idea what the problem is and advised that "the best thing to do is to purchase a new one". In reading other reviews and jumping onto a few forums, this seems to be a common theme - very short lifespan. I will never purchase another Fridgidaire product due to poor quality control and inept customer service, and the replacement dehumidifier that I purchase will always have the extended warranty through Amazon from here on out.
JUNK
February 15, 2017
Only worked 6 months then quit running. Have repeatedly attempted under warranty to get repaired or replaced with zero success. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
Failed just outside warranty. Planned obsolescence.
September 30, 2016
I spent tons of time researching the best dehumidifier available. This one appeared to fit the bill. The price suggested it was built to a slightly higher quality standard than others.

After owning it just less than 14 months, the unit now continually shows the error code "F0" on the control panel. Unplugging the unit (buttons do not function while the unit has the error) and plugging the unit back in allows it to run, usually for less than an hour before it faults again. The manual suggests to check outlet voltage - it is extremely stable at just over 120 V. The control board appears to be junk.

Does not appear to be designed to be a long-lasting product. Appears to be built to fail just outside warranty (can you say planned obsolescence?) so you have to buy another one. Frigidaire will not be getting any more of my money.
BEWARE OF JUNK! Be advised that the CURRENT FRIGIDAIRE BRAND DOES NOT STAND BEHIND ITS JUNK!
June 1, 2016
We purchased this unit in May '15. It ran for about 4 months last summer, then I cleaned it and put it away for the winter. Upon starting the unit at the end of May this year, I noticed that it had stopped operating and was presenting an error code of "F0". The manual gave two things to check and said that you should unplug the unit and see if the problem persists. I did. The problem persisted. I called Frigidaire customer support. I was told that despite being days away from one-year from the purchase date when the problem presented, there was no relief. My only option -- "Buy another unit." Despite several attempts, the representative was unwilling to budge or allow me to speak to anyone else. We have purchased several Frigidaire appliances in the past, and they had good, useful lives. The company has changed. They are apparently selling junk with their nameplate, and they hide behind an inflexible warranty -- even with a long-term customer. We will not buy another item from this brand or its parent company.
