Quick, easy data transfer solution for CF, Micro SD and regular SD cards.
May 5, 2017
What's not to like about this product? Plug and play right out of the box, and if you happen to have a bunch of various CF, Micro SD and SD cards lying around wondering if you need or have something that needs to be offloaded to another storage device, this could be the item for you to do that! The USB 3.0 connection is incredibly convenient and allows for speedy transfers when you really need them. Construction looks and feels solid. The cord is thick and feels pretty resilient, all in all, a purchase I'm pretty happy I got around to making. While this might not be something you might not need on a regular basis, as far as miniature data storage solutions go, this is a must buy for when you really need it. I bought it mostly because I did not want to install an onboard media reader that fits on the front optical drive bays like you might see on certain models of prefabricated HP/Dell/Gateway computers and this fit the bill perfectly. No need for external power sources as it's powered straight from the USB connection itself. Awesome. The product description on Amazon mentions it reads 2 cards while the box here, as I'm looking at it right now, mentions it can read 3 cards simultaneously, so I dunno what's up with that. I haven't tested it personally with all three sources being used, so I can't confirm that for certain, but it is a bit misleading if that is in fact true.
If you have a Nikon Camera, you probably need this unit.
March 21, 2017
I bought this unit to transfer photos and videos I made with my new Nikon camera. The latest versions of Nikons do not have the proper software to convert the NEF (Camera Raw) images into a format that allows the images to be processed in Photoshop or Lightroom. It seems the Nikon transfer software corrupts those file so they are not usable any more. This creates a situation where it is possible to actually lose many of your prized photos. This unit allows me to safely insert my SIM card into the unit, and have the images appear in a folder on my computer's desktop. I then open a file called "Adobe DNG Converter" (freely available on the internet), and convert the corrupted NEF files to DNG files, which Lightroom and Photoshop understand. I have not lost a photo since!!! If you have a Nikon camera, you probably need this unit!
This card reader worked great! I didn't run any benchmarks
January 23, 2017
This card reader worked great! I didn't run any benchmarks, but I was able to accomplish my goal.I wanted to format a micro SD card to F2FS file format. I had to use a virtual machine because I do not currently have Linux booting on my computers. I created a Debian virtual machine in Virtual Box, installed the Guest Additions on the Debian VM, and plugged in this card reader. Next, I selected the card reader in the USB filters in Virtual Box. I unplugged the card reader, rebooted the VM, then plugged in the reader again. The VM recognized the micro SD card in the reader and I was able to format the card as desired. All in all, this is a light weight, convenient little card reader that is handy to have around so that you can transfer data between your devices and computers.
This is one of the few adapters that works - apple product user
January 11, 2017
I purchased another one that adapts to iPhone, misc apple products, as well as, android, and it did NOT sync. I returned that one and bought this one to sync with my laptop with memory cards from Stealth Cameras. FINALLY, it works. If it doesn't, check that your memory card isn't corrupt first. I also found that to be an issue with SanDisk Memory Cards. So many pieces dtysfunctioning to work out but this reader WORKS consistently. The other reader didn't even read to my devices at times. It was hit or miss, but mostly miss.
Great! All good!
April 4, 2016
I bought another product to download my Scan compact flash cards for my digital camera to my rather old laptop (HP running Windows 10), but that unit was a real disappointment from the start and so returned it the next day--being very appreciative of Amazon.com's return policy. I then bought this unit, which ironically was cheaper than the first unit I bought. Very impressive little unit. Like the aluminum body--the other unit was plastic. Like very much the tightness of the fit in putting my compact flash card into this unit--tight being a good thing so it slides in and squarely lines up with the pins. Like that about half the card is inserted leaving the other half exposed--both securely in the slot but also easy to remove. This is a very nice unit. I would certainly highly recommend. Great! And the price is pretty great too. The unit was immediately recognized by my laptop and no issues whatsoever in doing the download from card to PC.
Super fast, even with USB 2.0
October 29, 2013
I have a Nikon D300 camera which only works with CF card. I had three different USB 2.0 card readers, one of them was Sandisk multi-card reader. All of them were extremely slow on my Macbook with USB 2.0. Sandisk one was the fastest, which took about 20 minutes to copy 8GB from CF - that is, if it doesn't lose connection during transfer. This one took 4 minutes. I guess this one utilizes 100% of USB 2.0, and pretty sure that it will be much faster on USB 3.0. (Too sad that I don't have anything which support USB 3.0 yet.) By the way, it is not cheap plastic. It's made with anodized aluminum and goes really well with my Macbook Pro.Highly recommended. Don't by generic junks. This one is the real deal.

Much better build quality than the cheap versions out there
September 11, 2017
Much better build quality than the cheap versions out there. Bought 1 of each and the cheap one did not work out of the box (we have an older model of that one that does work but is very finicky). Decided to get a more expensive version and thus far, it has worked flawlessly for my son who is a videographer and uses this daily. Only had for about 4 weeks, but it has been stress tested.
Well made, fast download Worth the $$$
April 22, 2017
Quickest download of photos ever! This is worth it's weight in gold as far as I am concerned.I recently purchased a camera with the CF memory card slot. What to do? A photographer friend recommended this and I tried it. WOW!It is compact, well made and has that wonderful USB 3.0. It fits easily into my camera bag for travel. What did I do without it?
Keeper!
January 26, 2017
I've had a chance to use this for a couple of high capacity film cards and I'm very impressed with the transfer rate and reliability of the this reader. I've owned several readers over the years including other Lexar Multi-card readers and so far this one is the best! It folds into itself for safe clean storage and packs away nicely when I need to take it on the road with me.
Works with USB3.0, 64/128GB card (MicroSD for mobile phones or SD for cameras)
January 12, 2017
I need a reliable card reader for transferring files between camera to PC, PC to MicroSD for my phone/tablet. I have very high capacity cards, typically 64GB and 128GB.Using my phone/tablet to transfer from phone/tablet's microSD to PC and vice versa is slower and cumbersome and worse still, the connectivity for my phone / tablet always drop out, resulted in unsuccessful file transfers.Using this to do the transfer is a breeze! It's running at 20MB/s and no dropped connections/transfers. Should have bought it ages ago... Don't save, go for 25-in-1 to use for SD and MicroSD.
Better Than the Luxar Single Slot Model
September 1, 2015
I recently purchased two Lexar SD card readers: This unit, The Professional Workflow SR2 SDHC/SDXC, and the Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader LRW400CRBNA. I initially had the dual-slot reader first, installed on a Windows 7 machine, and was very pleased with it. But I recently added one of the little Intel NCU bricks running Windows 10, I wanted another SD reader, and the Workflow SR2 was available on Prime Now in my area (who can pass up one hour delivery?). Having now used both units, I much prefer the dual-slot model. It's not that I like the second slot - I don't even use it - nor is one model faster than the other - they are equally fast. The determining factor is that when the NCU comes back from being asleep, Windows doesn't recognize the SR2 version unless it already has an SD card inserted. Once the PC is awake, you can try jamming an SD card in there after the fact, but it won't do any good; Windows 10 won't recognize it. The dual-slot model doesn't have this problem; every time I insert an SD card, it's recognized. I also noticed on both Windows 7 and 10 that when I bring up the dual-slot model using the "Remove Hardware and Eject Media" applet, you're not ejecting the dual-slot reader itself, but rather the SD card that is inserted in it. So both models are good, both are fast, but this unit, the Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual-Slot Reader LRW400CRBNA, certainly has an edge in terms of convenience.
Favorite Card Reader so far!!
June 12, 2015
So far, my favorite card reader.I've been shooting professionally for 25 years, and using card readers since the Nikon D1. Compact Flash cards and readers are becoming scarce, as SD is now more the norm. But pro bodies still have CF cards, including my D4.As my old one was only USB 2, i figured it was time for an upgrade. Tried another USB 3 card reader, and it failed after 2 months (pin bent in the CF card slot), so went in search again. There are varied reviews on this Lexar reader, but upon closer inspection, it seems there are at least 3 models of this reader (that all look the same externally). The one i got is model # LRW400CRBNA, with a 2015 date on the box. This 400 series i think is the latest at the time i am writing this.It is indeed USB 3, with a usb3 cord as well, that inputs into the back of the device. I like that it has an interchangable cord, and comes with one.I can swap other devices using the same cord--such as my Pioneer external BR burner, another great product:http://www.amazon.com/Portable-External-CyberLink-Software-BDR-XD05/dp/B00HSHLZJ8/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1434128497&sr=8-8&keywords=pioneer+bluray+writerIt has a great form factor, as the shell can enclose and protect itself. It stays open very well in use. When closed, the buttons on the side pop open the clamshell--this is very sensitive, almost like a mousetrap, and snaps open! Not a big deal, but kind of surprised me how sensitive it was.It can download TWO CARDS at ONCE--my main reason for purchase. So you can put a CF card and SD card and upload them both simultaneously. It is much easier to put in the CF card first, as it is on the bottom. It is VERY FAST at READING both cards. This of course, is dependent on your computer, usb ports, etc. But its the fastest reader i have ever used (other than other formats, such as the Sony XQD).It has a nice padded rubber bottom that grips relatively well and stays in place. Seems trivial, but its nice.As it only has 2 cards formats, it doesnt use a gazillion drive letters on your computer like some of those readers with 10 or more formats. If you only need SD and/or CF, this is the reader for you. I dont have or care for any of those other weird formats. Of course, you can just use a SD card adapter if you need to put in a MicroSD card. The device was recognized immediately on my two computers, with no need to download drivers or install software. WHEW, what a relief--No crappy proprietary software to put on my machines. It just works well. Reads cards from every camera ive put in it so far (Nikon D4, D7000, D300s, Fuji XT1, etc) with no glitches.Couldnt be happier to have something work well, with NO HASSLES.I will update if i ever have a problem, or if the product fails. Thanks for reading, hope this has been of help to you!

Good Card Reader
January 14, 2017
I forgot my card reader on a trip and Amazon had it shipped to General Delivery and saved me a lot of grief. It works perfectly for transferring my digital photos onto my laptop for editing. I use 2 sizes of memory cards so I liked having just the one device. Good fit and sturdy. I ended up ordering a back-up one. I also bought this when it was on sale which made it a great deal.

So far so very good. I just received my newly purchased UNITEK Superspeed Aluminum USB 3.0 Multi-in-1, as soon as I plugged the gadget into my computer's USB, it was immediately recognized by my computer, however, I do wish it had a light to let me know the computer to USB connection was made, and same for the disconnect. Really nice sleek Mac Computer- like design. 3 options for various digital card sizes.
I like it.
October 19, 2016
As another reviewer mentioned, it is a trifle disconcerting that you have to put the SD card in upside down. The other annoyance is that the USB cord is so short and an extension has to be a special USB 3 extension to work. But mine's all hooked up and it does work fast. I use it to upload RAW photos and it does that very quickly. I like it.
SD to USB adapter
October 16, 2016
The device works fine with one exception: sometimes when the SD card is inserted into the reader, it is not recognized by the computer (Windows 7). It is then necessary to unplug the reader from its USB connection and plug it back in. This is really just a minor inconvenience, but it may cause one to think the device isn't even working. And who knows, maybe it's the fault of Windows, not this device? Also, the SD card plugs in "upside down" (with the connector pads facing up). It is arranged so the card cannot be inserted incorrectly.
Fast, well-built, but clunky
March 16, 2016
Compact Flash card readers are getting harder to find as more cameras move to the smaller SD cards. And the ones you can find are often cheaply made with slow copy speeds and connection pins that are easily bent. This Unitek multi-card reader is fast and built solidly. Data copies quickly and cards insert smoothly without bending the pins.I ordered this model because the cord is permanently attached and less likely to go missing. However, the sturdy, rubberized cord is very thick, making it difficult to store the reader in a pouch for transport. I think I'll keep this one at home on my desk by my laptop, and get a more compact one for travel.
Nice CF card reader at a fair price
July 2, 2015
I bought this reader to get some pictures off of some old CF cards. Plugged it into computer first and worked great. Got all my old pics downloaded. Then tried it directly to my phone (Gal S4). Again, perfect fast transfer. Inexpensive investment to get back old pictures. All of the other slots worked as well. Feels solidly put together. I little higher price than I would have wanted to pay, but I couldn't find another comparable CF reader. And it seems worth the price. It did get to me fast. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

good reader
September 7, 2017
The data transfer rate is also fast, which saves overall usage time. This reader has a structure in which the insertion hole needs to be lifted up to insert a memory card. However, such a design is a disadvantage that if a memory card is inserted while the memory card is inserted, the memory card is likely to be broken. (In fact, I was in danger of breaking the memory card by mistake.)

February 13, 2017
Difficult to find CF readers a the brick and mortar stores. This works great for my needs and I don't need to hook the camera up for each download. The only issue that I had was the supplied cable did not work. Tried it a couple of times without luck. Pulled the one I use to connect my camera, also USB 3.0 and that did work.
True USB 3.0 Lexar
August 4, 2016
Lexar. What can I say? I don't use their cards because penney for return they are over priced. Photographers working for a company can buy those. You cannot beat their readers though. Not only is it true USB 3.0, the cable is TRUE USB 3.0 at both ends! My Sandisk Extreme cards scream through.
Best USB 3 Multi-Card reader I have used
March 22, 2016
This is my second Lexar reader. I have found them to be one of the best I have used. I like the low profile and I use many different formats. I regularly use the CF and SDHC reader for large video file transfers. The USB 3 device is plugged directly into the computer. I have used them on a USB powered hub and found the performance lacking. Still looking for a USB 3 hub that maintains the speed of direct connection.I highly recommend this as a USB Multi-card reader. I can't think of a con for this version of Lexar reader. Well built device and performs at USB 3 speeds, at least when directly connected to the motherboard.
Works for my needs
February 17, 2014
This is external card reader I have used. It suits my needs, which is to pull pictures from an SD card and Compact Flash cards. The built-in card slots on my Dell desktop are a bit finicky, don't always work (I have found that to be the case on every desktop I've had). This Lexar isn't always picked up by Adobe Lightroom for some reason (doesn't always trigger a read when it's already plugged in and I insert a card) but that might be Lightroom, not sure. Sometimes I have to disconnect the USB device then reconnect it and then Lightroom recognizes it and sees the card. Could also be something to do with the USB port or the computer itself. In any case, it's still very handy. My one complaint, if you'd call it that, is that the letting over the slots is so tiny and I don't use it enough to always remember which slot is for which card. I think there is enough room that the slot labels could have been a little bigger so that they were readable. Overall it's a nice-looking piece of gear, I like that is closes so that the slots don't get dusty, and it's done what I need it to do.
Great Legacy
March 25, 2013
Fast. As a professional photographer. I've gone through a lot of card readers. Lexar has held up the best. Last one quit after 3 years. The new replacement had a bad slot for the SDHC card. Amazon is great at replacing defective products. Defects happen. So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it was just a bad reader and not bad quality control from LEXAR. 4 star due to the bad reader slot. Reports of cases falling apart concerns me a lot. Excited about USB 3.0 finally reaching the market.

Great for SD. Worthless for CF.
August 17, 2017
I use multiple media types and read on Mac.This card reader is very fast for TF/SD cards. This card reader is absolutely useless for CompactFlash cards. I mean useless as in 5-6 hours to copy a couple hundred megabytes, compared to a couple hours for TF/SD cards. So—think of it as a reader for SD. Not as a reader for CompactFlash, and decide accordingly.

Worked very well (for a while)... I gave it to myself, this past Christmas, for my Christmas present. Starting using it in January... mid-May it stopped working, so it worked 5 months.Think that is a very short life span... started using my cheap plastic one, until I decide what to do (had that one 3 years)Harvey L.
Mixed feelings here... It's so-so.
May 31, 2016
Meh... Mixed feelings about this card reader. I had an issue with getting it to accept an SD card, but it turns out you have to actually insert your SD card upside down. Other than that, it seems to work fine, but I'm not sure if I believe that it's USB 3.0. My speeds don't seem consistent with the cards max transfer rate. I can't confirm or deny that there's an issue there, but my cards transfer faster through my other interface and card readers. To be fair, I rate this UNITEK unit at 3 out of 5 stars.
Half price for half the use...
September 16, 2015
Half the time I plug it in it doesn't read on my Mac Mini. I've tried plugging the card into the reader, then inserting the USB into the computer, and vice versa. Half the time it pops up that the disk is unreadable. Other times I plug it in and it reads fine. When it does read it's fairly fast at file transfer. But I need something I can rely on to read every time.
Update - SD card slot failure after a year and a half of occasional use
July 12, 2015
UPDATE: After over a year of occasional use, the SD Card slot now will not read a card. I guess maybe I am expecting too much for something that costs so little to last for many years. maybe I should be satisfied with 18 months of performance, but I had to drop my review to a three - and I consider that generous.ORIGINAL REVIEW:This is a simple device so there is only so much I can review. Finish is good and SD cards seem to fit securely (my old devise was requiring a lot of jiggling to make contact to download files. This is assembled with screws, not glue. And it appears to have a brushed aluminum body. So it looks attractive and seems solidly made. the USB cord attached is 6 inches long, including the USB plug body. The USB cable is very thick, again contributing to the impression that this is a solidly built unit.It has had occasional use over the last few months and has performed fine. Highly recommended.
A Serviceable Back-Up Reader in a Solid Metal Casing -- But With Two Caveats
October 9, 2014
I wanted an inexpensive, metal, back-up card reader and this fit the bill. I like its simple design and protective shell. It is fast. But you have to be careful inserting your CF cards. Apparently I was not, and two pins bent. I feel responsible so I bought a replacement unit and so far, so good. I have never had such a problem with more expensive card readers so perhaps this UNITEK is more susceptible to damaged pins. The difference appears to be the relatively shallow depth of the channel leading to the CF pins but that is just my guess. Also, I did not check to see if the first unit's pins were already bent before I used it. You might want to check yours before attempting your first insertion. If you have any problem that is not your fault, I am not aware of any customer support or any warranty support. I welcome any information to the contrary. These are not fatal issues. The card reader does its job well or I would reduce my score more. If you want metal housing and you are careful and patient, this should serve you well. I would not suggest relying on it as your primary card reader, but clearly most reviewers here are happy with it and you are not risking much cash to try it out. My first card experience might be rare. There are two caveats about UNITEK: CF pins are too easily damaged and lack of warrantee coverage and support. Maybe at this price point it is not realistic to expect those things today. Just be careful using it or if you need a more dependable primary card reader, particularly for frequent and/or high volume downloads, consider an upgrade to Sandisk or Lexar card readers. Lastly, I recommend buying from Ocean Technology. It sells the reader protected in the original retail box, yet it was the least expensive.

WORKS, BUT NOT GREAT!
July 14, 2017
This is the first card reader that has issues with the SD card interface. By this I mean that the connection between the card reader / card and the computer is often severed or lost-- resulting in an error message on the desk drop screen saying something to the effect of "the device was not put away properly". This requires one to re-insert the SD card, etc. I'm not sure if this does damage to the SD cards or not, but it is highly irritating.
Usually A Good Brand & Reader, I Got A Dud
May 18, 2017
This card reader usually works great. I had one before, but lost it on a shoot. And I like Lexar as a brand, but I got a bad one that just wouldn't read any card I put in it. I returned it and bought it on B&H. Works great now. Sometimes Amazon products are sketchy, especially for camera gear. I give this reader 5 stars, but only 3 here because of the hassle of having to buy it somewhere else cuz I got a dud.
Design ok
May 7, 2017
I still have not found card readers that I liked as much as the Lexar 800 Firewire readers I bought years ago. I do not like this pop up design. The plastic seems flimsy. But I only bought it because it does have multiple card reading options which is nice.
Reads my Lexar 64 GB SD card, DOES NOT read my Lexar 64 GB CF card
January 30, 2017
Reads my Lexar 64 GB SD card, DOES NOT read my Lexar 64 GB CF card.At first, I thought it was a fluke, my late 2011 MacBook Pro would not read my CF cards at first and I assumed that because it was a USB 2.0, that it was not backwards compatible. After visiting many reviews that states that it should be, I contacted customer care and they directed me to download a firmware upgrade. After I did that and restarted my computer. I tried it again and this time I also inserted an SD Card and my computer recognized it right away.I pulled and reinserted my SD card and my computer recognized it each time, my CF card was inserted the whole time. So this reads my SD cards (I hope).I'm on a job in Africa and this situation now isn't ideal for me. I must mention that when I first used this reader with my cards back in the states on my brand new 27" iMac, it worked just fine, so I didn't think to test it on my older MacBook pro.I'm wondering if anyone has a similar issue and how did they resolve it?
Not as fast as it could be
June 18, 2013
Needed USB 3.0 card reader for CF cards and micro SD cards. Got this card reader after reading poor reviews of other Lexar, Transcend, and Kingston products. Ended up using this side by side with a friend's Transcend TS-RDF8W with a Retina MacBook Pro, OS 10.8.4. The Transcend would sustain 90 MB/s whereas the Lexar would only sustain up to 50 MB/s. Real world translation, a 32 GB card would take 15 minutes with the Lexar and about 8 minutes with the Transcend. I am buying two of the Transcend card readers myself and plan on using them as my primaries with the Lexar as backup.
Super-fast uploads, crappy exterior
March 8, 2013
If my review were based 100% on the job this card reader does, it would be 5 stars. I've used the micro sd, the CF, and the SDXC card slots and they all have worked beautifully. I shoot video with a GoPro Hero 3 on a micro sd, so I have some HUGE files I need to upload from the card and it's always incredibly fast. 4 or 5GB can be uploaded in a just a few minutes. If i'm not actually uploading, just viewing files from the card, it has great playback (if i try to preview videos being uploaded directly from the camera, i get very jolty video and SLOOOW scrolling through pictures).HOWEVER, the review is on the product as a whole and the case is an absolute piece of crap. It had been out of the box for about 2 uploads when I picked it up and the "buttons" on one of the side's was missing. Turns out the bottom plate (which has all the serial number and info) had fallen off which makes it incredibly easy for the buttons to fall out. Want to know how hard it is to find a translucent piece of plastic about the size of a large paper clip? It's hard. Once I finally found it, it was only moderately challenging to figure out how to put it back (but easy to do once I figured it out). I found the bottom plate and it was sticky with some adhesive and I put it back on and vigorously tried to push it back on. It stayed on for a whole matter of minutes.I spent probably 2 weeks fighting with the exterior and nearly losing buttons until I broke down and decided I liked the reader well enough to tape the bottom of the reader on so that I wouldn't lose the bottons or have to deal with trying to get the buttons back on.I like the reader's function but hate that I have a pretty expensive reader that is quite literally taped together and came defective enough that it needed taped from the first day out of the box. It's quite disappointing.

Not a fan.
August 28, 2017
Not a fan of this memory card reader. My brand new CF card did not fit very well and had to be forced into the reader which resulted in the front side of the card to get really scratched up.
Bad fit for CompactFlashCard.
April 18, 2017
Bought this to work with a CompactFlashCard. It was very difficult to insert and remove the card out of the port and even scratched some of the sticker off the card upon removal. When I looked inside some of the pins looked a little bent and the entrance port was slightly concave instead of rectangular which might explain why it was too tight a fit for the card. Will return. Giving it two stars cause the USB connection worked fine while I had the card in there.
Not recommended for CF use
May 2, 2016
CF slot is not deep enough to prevent the card from inserted crookedly. When this happens, you'll bend the pins in the reader (I have). You don't want to buy this reader if you are looking for a CF card reader, especially if you are a heavy user who need to quickly swap out multiple CF cards in the field.I also have a Transcend TS-RDF8K. This one has a deeper CF socket that properly aligns the CF card. Attached picture shows the difference in the socket depth.
You can do better than this.
April 2, 2016
I've had this for a little more than a month and it has stopped functioning. I'm not real happy. It so longer reads any of my memory cards. It was a great investment for a couple of weeks. The last devise I bought like it lasted 20 years. I wish I could find it.
I'm disappointed in this purchase
December 11, 2015
This is very cheaply made, on mine I have to insert card upside down and it's hard to tell if it is in far enough. I would choose a different option, I'm disappointed in this purchase. I should have spent a little extra money and purchased a better one.
The SD slot works fine, but who cares
July 13, 2014
This product is touted as being for macbook pro...CF slot barely functions with my 2014 15" Macbook Pro. Requires several attempts to get a CF card to open, The SD slot works fine, but who cares? There's a built in SD slot. Ironically, it works fine on my PC, and as I work cross platform, I won't need to return for refund. I read some of the reviews prior to my purchase, and was awre of the tight fit reported re: the CF slot...the reports were true. Card was very difficult to install in slot. Another peculiar feature is the orientation of the CF and SD cards...the SD inserts upside down, i.e. the contacts face up when you insert. If you own a Mac and are looking for a multi card reader, I would recommend looking elsewhere

April 15, 2017
I was not able to make it "connect" with my Sony Vaio ( Windows 7 ), and the customer service representitive at Lexar was not able to help me get it connected either. I can use a wireless mouse and USB Thumb Drives on both of my 2.0 USB ports without any problems, and use an external hard drive in the 3.0 USB port, so I know the problem is not with my computer. I'll try a different brand/device from what Amazon offers. VERY disappointing though.....
Don't last
March 29, 2017
Unfortunately the CF card reader stopped working after about a week. The SD reader still works. This is the second one I've bought. The first one worked for about 6 mos, or so. I typically like Lexar stuff, but these readers just aren't reliable
Defective - Issue Resolved, but a Nuisance Nonetheless
March 18, 2017
Received a defective item. CF Reader didn't work. This seems to be a common problem among these sorts of devices (I've received 2 defective CF readers in the past ~month). I used a Lexar CF card in a Lexar reader - you'd think a person would get some sort of karmic bonus from the gods of commerce or something, but no such luck.2 stars instead of 1 just because the refund/return process was quick and painless to the extent that those things are ever "quick" and/or "painless". At any rate, at least they made it quick and easy to rectify the matter.
2nd one I've bought did not work right out of the gate
March 6, 2017
The card reader isn't reading my cards at all. I have to use another card reader to extract the files from the card. I had this exact product from 2012 and it lasted 4 years... But I still have a Sandisk Firewire 800 card reader from 2009 that is still kicking... So maybe I look elsewhere for a new dependable card reader. The only reason I'll give it 2 stars is because I really like Lexar SD and CF cards

I am very displeased with this product. First attempt to deliver to my office was Friday 12-23 at 6:32 PM. That meant I needed a card reader for the weekend holiday. I went to my local MicroCenter store and purchased an Inland USB 3.0 card reader for $9.99 +tax. This package arrived today. This evening I decided to test both products side by side. I tried to copy two types of music media formats. First, I copied 26 song FLAC files that were 993 MB from my Samsung SSD external drive. The Inland took 1:13.45 minutes and the Lexar that was more than twice the price took 1:22.19 minutes. Then I tested 85 songs which was exactly 1GB. Again the $10 device out preformed the $22.95 Lexar, 1:19.48 vs 1:28.81. Very disappointing. I gave 1 star for a great design and 1 star for a nice long USB cable. I am deciding if I will return this due to lack of performance.
Low-quality, not worth the money
December 4, 2015
I bought this because I was looking for a quality USB card reader, but unfortunately there is nothing about this product to distinguish it from any of the dozens of other USB card readers out there. Construction quality is pretty bad and feels like it is made out of the same cheap plastic as any other card reader you might find at Walmart. SD cards don't slide in very easily, and it feels like I'm going to break something when I insert one. Basically, if you're looking for a high quality card reader you might want to keep looking. That being said, transfer speeds are decent but didn't seem to be any faster than a regular USB 2.0 card reader even though this claims to use the speed of USB 3.0. That's just my own opinion after comparing it so your mileage may vary, but all in all this card reader is quite overpriced for what you actually get.

Could be better designed.
February 25, 2017
I got this mainly for Compact Flash (seriously all pc and laptops can do sd cards...).no clear indication of what side to insert card. Once I figured that out the fit for the CF card was so tight it rips off the label on the CF card going in and out. Could be better designed....Updated review. This is crap. Tried to place my card in it on my trip, never worked. Dead at home also on my PC.

As a photographer, I bought it for our Christmas vacation to visit my overseas family after 10 yrs. it works great until the 4th time when I tried to transfer my grandfather birthday family pictures to laptop and lost it all. The card reader corrupted the data, my husband tried to do image recovery, over 200 images only 15 recovered. I bought a new and better card reader but can't go back in time to take pictures. Very disappointed. No one can't replace the memories.
Didn't work...AND...NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN!
December 13, 2016
Bought this card reader and it didn't work right outta the box. Even worse...went to return the item and you receive a notification that the item is NOT eligible for return. I went back to the main page and unless I'm blind still do not see clearly where it warns consumers that this item is NOT eligible for return. Amazon of course refunded my money no problem...but hmmm. Really? Stay clear of this card reader and this seller for that matter! You've been warned...
Simply not working for my MacBook Pro
September 25, 2015
Got this primarily as a CF card reader, but any card I connected ejected (i.e. unceremoniously lost connection) within 10 seconds after inserting it. I'm working with a MacBook Pro, & I know that sometimes the voltage on Mac USB ports isn't the same as standard PC connections, but this was specifically advertised as working with Mac laptops, so a failure on all accounts.
Stopped working after 2 months.
February 18, 2014
I ordered this card reader to replace an older model with a frayed cord. I spent a little more for the aluminum case and styling that would compliment my MacBook. On the plus side, it transfers data quickly and the styling compliments my macbook well. The cord is sturdy and doesn't appear prone to fraying with extended use. It gets the job done and feels like it'll last a while. On the minus side, only one type of media can be read at a time and the fit and finish leaves something to be desired. This definitely isn't an Apple product.Bottom line: pretty good, could be better.UPDATE: I've had this card reader for 10 weeks. Now every time I plug it in I get an OSX error message telling me that a USB device is drawing too much power and has been ejected. I'm replacing it. Very disappointed.
DOA - lights up but no communication with 4 different computers
January 23, 2014
Received this unit yesterday - so far it has failed to communicate with an MS Surface Pro 2 Win 8.1 (USB 3.0), Lenovo Miix 2 8.1 (USB 2.0), HP all-in-one Win 7 (USB 2.0) and HP Envy notebook Win 7 USB 3.0. I also purchased a iXCC ® 4 Port USB 3.0 Hub for MacBook Air, Surface Pro, and Windows 8 Tablet / Black Bus-Powered Super Speed Compact Hub [VIA VL812 Chipset, Built-in 2 Feet USB 3.0 Cable] - it is working great. Of course the latter is bus powered but that would not impact the connectivity. I will return this Unitek hub to Amazon - plug and play it is not. It should be 0 stars.I bought the Unitek because of its 5V 4A power supply and lower relative percentage of negative reviews compared to other manufacturers. It is annoying and inconvenient to have to return this unit. It seems that many/most items manufactured in China have a high failure percentage rate.

Broken product right out of package. Item defective/useless. No response from seller.
August 29, 2017
UPDATED: Ordered 2nd one and that is fine and works great but 1st one as stated below was defective and still no response from customer service. Would give zero stars if it let me.Finally opened it to use it to download professionally photography photos. The item doesn't work, completely broke, useless. Very unhappy, need for business purposes ASAP, could not use right away. Had to order another one quickly. No response from seller. Would suggest you don’t buy from if there isn’t any custermer service available to address issues. The product itself was defective, directly from opening it up from the package.
Atypical poor quality product from Lexar
August 1, 2017
I rarely write a product review. This product is very poor. One day AFTER its allowable 30 day return, it jammed up and had a great deal of difficulty simply opening again. Also, the "dual" device doesn't read our SD cards, and rather than hassle a return, we kept it just for the 3.0 CF card reader component. But, with the additional jamming up problems and inability to read our SD cards, we consider it a sad piece of junk. I'll note that this Lexar dual card reader was being asked to handle professional Lexar cards. Also, I'll note that we have several 2.0 Lexar CF card readers and find them without problems. Have not encountered such nasty, poor quality from Lexar before.
I hope customer service is more reliable than this reader and turned out to be.
July 2, 2017
I purchased this Lexar usb 3.0 Card reader Sept of 2016 and it no longer works! I will be contacting Lexar due to their 1 year warranty on some readers and up to 5 years on others. I think this one is a 5 year reader but I will have to let everyone know. We will see, I hope their customer service is more reliable than this reader. Pro Photographer

Bought this reader it only downloads around 21.7 mb/s. Had this product about 30 days.Have Kingston 3.0 it downloads around 69.9 mb/s. Almost 3 times faster.
Doesn't work on USB 3.0
January 22, 2017
I bought this because I have Lexar cards. When connected to a USB 3.0 port, the reader disconnects every 30-40 seconds. When connected to a USB 2.0 port, it functions just fine. Other readers work just fine on the same USB 3.0 ports.
WARNING THIS WILL CORRUPT YOUR FILES!
November 23, 2015
I am a professional commercial photographer. I shoot somewhere in the neighborhood of 15k images a quarter for Nike and fortunately over the years I have learned from my mistakes to triple back up my images while I shoot. I copy to both cards in camera (Canon 1dx) and am tethered to a computer where they are stored and backed up to a G-drive (great product).Occasionally while on location or in studio I use a card reader to add another level of back up. I had my digital tech throwing away cards that kept delivering corrupt files until I realized (silly me) that the fault was with this Lexar reader. Granted, the files on the card will not always be corrupted by this reader and you can redo the process to get them again but sometimes you don't have time to check every image before you erase the card. I have included a test image to show as an example.PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.~Ben
