Great buy
August 21, 2015
Very easy to put together.
Easy to follow instructions. Doesn't feel uncomfortable to sit on
Just right for me
May 2, 2014
I was injured on the job and can't walk or put weight on one leg. No way I felt safe taking a shower without one of these seats. Workers comp sent a bigger one that didn't work for me - I like this one because it doesn't have a back and it is easy to turn around on so I can rinse my hair and back. I am 5'6" and 200 pounds a size 14 and the size is ok. A larger person may prefer the larger kind of shower seat that workers comp sent me but this one lets me get in and out of the shower easily - I set the height at the same height as the side of the tub so I sit on the side of the tub and slide onto the seat safely and easily - getting out of the shower is similarly easy for me. And unlike the other seat workers comp sent me, which had a removable back, this seat doesn't have any raised ridge on the back that would make it difficult to turn around and face in the other direction.
A good buy; would recommend to anyone needing one of these
March 25, 2013
I bought this shower seat for my 67-year old mother to use after kidney surgery. The seat is easily put together, height adjustable and feels very stable. It fit a standard New York apartment bathtub perfectly with no problems. Mom particularly liked the fact that the seat is non-slip textured and slightly curved. The large rubber feet keep the seat steady and secure in the shower.

She didn't end up needing the seat for very long, but I saved the box and I'm putting it in storage, since none of us are getting any younger and you never know when we may need it again.

One last thing: I had debated whether or not to get a seat with a back, but after talking to a sales guy at the "you can do it, we can help" home improvement store, he recommended getting this one from Amazon instead of the one they carried at their store. He told me that the one with the back didn't work well for his elderly mother, because it made it difficult for her to reach her backside without having to inch forward in the chair, which could be dangerous. I asked my mom for her thoughts on this and she said she could see where having a back on the chair might get in the way.
Just thought I'd share this bit of advice, as it was helpful to me.
Works great

I bought this for my mother who is about 5 feet tall. It's the perfect size for her and is very stable.
It fits in my small (width-wise) bathtub and it's comfy, too!
September 14, 2012
Oh boy, did I have the hardest time trying to find a comfortable, yet wide-enough seat, plus sturdy, shower chair!

You see, some years ago, when I had double foot surgery, I had to order a shower chair. When it came, it was great....anti-microbial material, sturdy, everything you would want EXCEPT it didn't fit my shower! I felt that it was money wasted...I couldn't use it! I still have it, I just can't use it.

Flash forward a few years. Still bugged that I do not have a shower chair, I find one in one of those gift catalogs you get in the mail. The ad said that it was small for smaller showers/tubs. After measuring again my showere's width, I thought, "Great! It will fit!" and ordered one.

I got it. It fit. But the thing was so uncomforatable! It was a round seat. Grant you, I knew this, but seeing it in a catalog and actually sitting on it are two different stories. The thing hurt my bottom it was that hard, and the very small, round "barstool" like seat was not wide enough at all. I did not, in any way, feel secure on it, least of all comfortable.

Frustration again.

Still bugged that I cannot get a shower chair that not only fits the small width of my tub (only 16" wide) AND find one that is solidly constructed, stable AND comfortable....I search again on Amazon.

Screen after screen reading description after description - not finding any that will fit my width and will offer any comfort to me, that is until I find this one by Comfytopia.

Well, the name "Comfytopia", the name itself already gives me some level of interest. Heck, these people name their company after the word comfort. Maybe they produce something comfortable....?

Their chair's seat not only looked wide enough to support me, but it looked comfortable. AND, the width will fit my tub! Can it be, really that I found a chair for my shower at last?

I ordered yet another chair, hoping that this will be the last one.. I get it, assemble it (It is so easy. BELIEVE ME, I am NOT mechanically inclined and I could put this together!) and hesitantly put it in my shower.

Holy Schnike-y, it fits! It fits! Now for the "litmus test"....will it support me AND support me comfortably?

Shower time....YES! It does! At last I found my chair!

You may laugh at my melodramatic review here, but you have no idea the level of frustration and expense this has been for me. Not to mention, the many times I would have benefited from having my chair...the times I had the flu, was dizzy but desperately needed a shower and risked getting dizzy and falling. How about my double-foot surgery....I had nothing then and had to do contortions just to be able to bathe which resulted in a watery mess in my bathroom.

EVERYONE needs a shower chair despite age and health. Ladies, do you like sitting on the bottom of your tub, uncomforably "bunched up" and having to shave? I don't. I hate it. See? You need a chair. It's so nice to have a chair and have the option of sitting just in case you have to.

And this chair by Comfytopia I highly recommend. If you don't have a walk-in shower to support the huge chairs other vendors offer, and you don't want a "mini barstool" that is uncomfortable and wobbly, this would be a wonderful choice.

I'm so glad that I continued to search for my perfect shower chair. Thanks, Comfytopia!

Recommend this chair. Please read the assembly instructions carefully as the parts are not marked as well as I'd have liked. That said it goes together and makes a solid chair.
Excellent shower chair.

Purchased this to bathe my handicapped daughter.....fits well in tub so that I don't have to remove it when everyone else showers and she loves it. It is sturdy and she is not afraid to sit in it.

I have a grandson with MD and has no use of his legs, this chair has made it so much easier to bathe him. He loves the shower and having him in the chair makes it easier for me to get him out of the tub. He says he likes this chair more than the one he has at home because it has "handles" for him to hold onto and he doesnt feel like hes going to fall off of it.

January 31, 2015
Nice Chair! I really needed this after my foot surgery. It's light and the perfect size for my small shower. It will get plenty of use in the next couple of months. It you want one for long term though, I would recommend going with one a little more sturdy and heavy duty. But, for a few months, this is a great chair & you will be happy with it. :)
Sturdy Chair
April 7, 2014
The chair comes packed compactly and is easy to assemble with large plastic screws and disassemble when no longer needed. The size was fine for my small shower, and would also fit well in a tub; the legs have strong suction cups on the bottom to keep the chair from sliding. The chair worked very well for me after a full hip replacement, as the hand holds are in the right places, and the seat, wide enough to accommodate anyone, has drain holes to keep water from pooling or damming up. This is an excellent chair for a very reasonable price. it would be prettier if it were not gunmetal gray! How about designer colors, or at least white???

A solid unit
July 24, 2017
A good and for me a necessary safety device for the shower. It's plenty rugged. It would be a little easier to maneuver in a tub if it were a tad smaller.
I liked the rubber nonslip feet and adjustable height
April 28, 2017
Bought for the inlaws. When I put it together, I liked the rubber nonslip feet and adjustable height. I'm not the user so cannot give any other opinions about this. But looks easy to clean and no absorbent which is always a plus for me!
This works, BUT...
January 26, 2016
This stool works as advertised, but until I tried it out didn't realize just how low 16.5" would put me; also hard to guess who would need the lower heights. My occupational therapist said I should get a higher one, but I can use it, so decided not to replace. I am 5'4", so if you are much taller, you may want to try another model.
Also, even at 140 pounds, this seems to wobble a little.
It does fit well into the bath tub & is light enough that it's easy to lift out. Also, assembly was easy & quick & no tools needed!
I would recommend this one for everyone up to 300lbs. It does have a life span for those that are heavier.
December 6, 2015
We have used this one for 14 months with good results for both in the shower and used as a chair at the vanity. It was used daily (about 9 months)after back surgery on a person weighing about 250lbs. It was also used 2-3 times a week by someone 300lbs, it was still being used 3-4 times a week for another 4 months both in and out of the shower. Water was easy to remove when moving daily from the show to the vanity. It is starting to weaken (plastic) and the legs becoming loose after 14 months but it is not being used as much so this is of little concern. This is still better than the last one we had where the screws started coming thru the top of the seat.
Good product but wrong instructions brochure
December 4, 2015
The product is good but the instructions which came along in the box were not for this shower bench but for bed railing. It was simple to assemble so I had no issues putting it together.

Excellent seat. My dad appreciated it. Be careful when screwing it together to use the "short" screws on the seat. We used the longer ones at first and almost forced them through the plastic. Our bad.

Too big for a modern apartment tub. A bit fragile.
Great chair but the plastic cracked on the seat a couple of months shy of a year
January 17, 2017
I bought this chair because I broke my leg and I could not put any weight on it while showering. This chair fit in my tub shower width wise with no problem. The rubber at the bottom of the legs did leave a few marks but nothing that couldn't be scrubbed off. It is a good chair and I liked having it in the shower so much that I kept it in the shower after my leg had healed. The bottom seat however has cracked in the front left on the seam and the chair is now holding water. Due to the crack I feel the sharp edge on the back of my leg and unfortunately I am going to have to get another one.

The chair serves its purpose, but is very flimsy. The legs are not at stable as I thought it would be, but again, it serves it purpose I will buy another chair, just for my own comfort.
This is a really good bath bench
April 11, 2016
This is a really good bath bench. It is a bit wobbly but will not fall over. When I am not using it for a shower I use it as a vanity chair. It really helps me get ready for the day. I have a cast on one foot and sitting down is so much better than trying to balance on the other foot. It is very lightweight and can be moved easily. It assembles easily, too.
Sturdy, easy to assemble, might be too big
March 15, 2013
It took perhaps 15 min to assemble and easily supports by adult 6'+ son. It fits well in our (small) shower stall, but I don't know if it would fit in the bathtub. Plenty of seat room, but note that it lacks arms to push up from. If you're considering a chair with arms, yes, they're good for getting up out of the chair, but they can also get in the way of washing.

Not for tall or heavy people
August 31, 2017
To say these hold 250 pounds is stretching it I think. The legs are very basic aluminum and it is easy to twist the legs when sitting on it in the shower (especially since the aluminum legs weren't square to the seat due to pour molding of the seat bottom groves for the legs). I used this at 160 pounds and fully extended legs because they are so short otherwise (I am only 5'8"). This is not for tall or heavy people. It was okay for me and I tried to not put any torque on the chair since falling or collapsing could have ripped out my $32,000 surgery. But I loved the bathtub handle bar I got on Amazon for post-surgery (even my post-surgery helper liked the bathtub handle bar).
I KNOW OF BETTER, MORE EXPENSIVE

THE ADJUSTABLE EEZECARE L[GHTWEIGHT SHOWER BENCH HAS MANY OF THE PROPERTIES PRAISED IN OTHER REPORTS HERE . HOWEVER BEAR IN MIND THAT IT IS NOT VERY STABLE AND THUS IT REQUIRES A MAXIMUM OF ATTENTION FOR STABILITY.

Too Short even at highest setting
April 27, 2016
My husband's physical therapist said this shower stool is too short for him(he is 5'10" tall). Rather than return it,
I will keep it for another bathroom. Maybe I missed it, but I think there should be some mention in the description
where it says it is adjustable, that it won't be high enough for an average size man. It was easy to put together,
however, and seems very sturdy. I might try like the other reviewer said of switching out the legs of the walker
to make it taller but I don't know if that would be safer either.

Bath Bench
May 14, 2017
I needed a chair quickly for a relative who was getting released from the hospital. It is a okay chair but would have been a lot nicer if the chair legs were more stable. Would not recommend for a person who is heavy or unsteady on their feet.
Bad Installation instructions
May 1, 2017
The assembly instructions are poor. The photo sequence does not show adding the back over until after the legs are installed. By then, you'd have to remove everything and do it over again. Correct sequence:1. Put the legs in place but don't insert the screws2. Lay the L-poles over the legs, matching the holes, insert screws.3. Insert the back cover over the L-polesIt's unstable if the back over is installed at the far position.
Serves it Purpose
April 28, 2017
It will fullfill its purpose & I think I will be happy in the long-run.Assembly was could have been easier. The first screw the instructions tell you install, I was not able to install untill last, tolerances are a little loose and a couple of the threaded holes are out of alignment. Once everything is tightenen down, the bench is stable and I feel confident / comfortable with using it.
Wish it was stronger.
April 12, 2017
It came with the seat scratched up. The legs are in thin plastic but it's all in the same box. I assume that's how it got scratched? When it's put together, it's a little wobbly even though the screws are tightened all the way. It's ok but wish I had bought a stronger chair.
Our caregiver liked the new one because it is only about 3
November 3, 2015
We had an older model and I ordered a new one for our condo. The new one is lighter and not as durable as the first one. Our caregiver liked the new one because it is only about 3.5 pounds and is easier for her to lift. It also fits in the tub in the forward position where as the older one did not. However, I would not recommend this new one for heavy people. The back is wobbly and the legs are wobbly. The older one was much more stable and feels more durable.
Hard to assemble, but reasonable chair
June 17, 2013
The shower chair was difficult to put together. I've never had so many problems with following instructions before. It comes with different depths of screws and the screws it requests you use for certain pieces just don't seem to fit. The legs were the trickiest, you've got to get them to cross just right and get the screws in. Otherwise it's an ok chair.I would say it's too large if you've got a tub. We have a rectangular shower only unit in our bathroom and this thing is clunky even for such a large space. It's difficult to maneuver around and lets face it, one position won't work for everything! If you want to wash your body it's got to be forward facing, then you have to reverse it to properly wash your hair. It's not impossible, but expect to get at least a little water on your bathroom floor while making the transition. If you've got a tub I do not think it would fit. I would be sure to measure it before purchase.

Too short
March 21, 2017
I have short legs, but this bench is too short for me. I didn't even think to check how tall it was going to be. I thought they would make the legs more expandable, but they didn't. Other than that, it seems well built.
Too low
March 19, 2017
Be warned that the maximum height of this bench is only 16.5", much lower than the 19.5" to 20" maximum height of other benches. I'm 5'9" tall, and recovering from a broken ankle. It's too low for me to easily and safely stand up on one foot after my shower. It would be fine for a child or small adult. To be fair, the height range is listed in the description. But one assumes all benches are about the same. The description should state that it's a low bench.
who is 93 years young and was please to see that the bench looked great and was easy enough to put together
January 22, 2017
I bought this for my mother, who is 93 years young and was please to see that the bench looked great and was easy enough to put together, but I am afraid I do have to say that unless you happen to be an extremely short person, like 4'6", this is not the bench for you. After putting it together I sat on it to see if the height would be good for her or if I needed to adjust it and it was way too short. Much to my surprise, when I went to adjust the legs I found they were already on the top setting! I am 5'3". Of course there is a possibility that the wrong legs may have just been put in the box my bench came in, and they were very good at refunding my money, but I did feel that everyone would want to know this.
Although initially pleased with the ease of assembly and size
August 11, 2016
I bought this after severely breaking my ankle and being unable to stand in the shower. Although initially pleased with the ease of assembly and size, after using for the last few weeks, there are some major design concerns. The legs are two pieces, criss-crossed, and bolted to the plastic seat. The issue is that after a few uses, the screw will loosen and the legs will bend outward so that the entire bench will lean to one side presenting a major safety issue for anyone who is not able to stand independently. I'm about 200 lbs and 5'8", so within the recommended guidelines--for anyone in that range, it's worth considering your level of mobility. Even with repeated tightening before use, the problem can occur without warning. Price is good, assembly is simple, but the risk is great.
too low - picture of legs is deceiving
January 29, 2013
would suggest you spend $3 more and get the exact same seat that is
4 inches higher. this one is only 17 inches high. the other one is
21 inches high.

Not bad, but one screw too short and overall on the wobbly side.
April 14, 2017
Although the "bath bench with back" individual pieces seem to be sturdy and well-made, the chair was slightly defective. The screw that is meant to attach the mainframe legs to the seat was just slightly too short to attach the frames (listed as step 1) until after I attached the other four screws. So the screw that is shorter than the other four needs to be roughly 1/8 inch longer.Final result needs to be more sturdy. The chair is simply a little too wobbly for something that is intended to hold up a person who is already a little wobbly herself.
not durable enough for our purpose
December 1, 2015
After only 2 months the legs are seperating when seated. It makes it very dangerouse in the shower. The sellers policy only allows attention within a certian aount of time so I am out of luck for a refund. I would not advise this item as a long term useful item.

November 18, 2015
Recently had foot surgery so I'm total non-weight bearing for 6-8 weeks. I figured I want to take a daily shower so I selected this chair to assist with that. Works great for the first week then one week two I noticed the rear chair legs were bowing out, and then canting inward. This creates a very unstable seating situation. I recently learned the weight limit is 250 lbs, I'm under that at 220lbs, so not sure what is going on. I would not get this chair if you are very heavy.
Medline Guardian Bath Bench With Backrest
May 18, 2015
This shower chair was not built well and though it held up well when I first bought it, with in a few months, it began to break. Eventually, it got to the point where it would be come unsafe to use it to take a shower. Do not buy this chair, look for a different one, this is not built well and in my opinion, is not worth the money.
Regretful purchase - stopped working after a few weeks
October 2, 2013
I bought this shower chair when I was experiencing a lot of back pain and couldn't walk or even stand to take a shower. It's easy to assemble and for about three weeks worked fine. But then the legs started to slowly slide on one side and tilt the seat. Any fall would have landed me in the hospital so this tilting was really bad. Even when you re-tighten the screws the legs slip on one side. All four legs have rubber bottoms but the ones on one side no longer grip the tub. This is a fall hazard and completly defeats the purpose of getting this chair. Very disappointed with this chair.
It's already breaking!!
April 24, 2013
I quickly received the chair, put it together, which wasn't too difficult; however I had to call Medline's customer service, as the bottom legs didn't seem to fit properly into the grooves on the bottom of the seat. The rep had to look at a video to tell me what to do and we figured out that that legs do not go into the grooves as one would think. I tightened the legs and back support as tight as I could, set the chair up, but the legs looked slightly bent and the chair rocks a bit. While these legs can be bent somewhat, I didn't want to do that, as that's how I finally broke my previous seat. However, mywife noticed that there is a split in the top portion of the seat and the bottom part of the seat, where the plastic has a seem.I should have spent an extra $20 or $30 and just picked one up at CVS... At least if something happened to it, I could just return it right back.I think I will do just that. Return it and get a different brand at the drug store. :(by "I didn't think I bought a rocking chair"

Flimsy/ Dangerous! Do not buy!
January 13, 2016
No matter how tight you tighten the screws the legs are extremely wobbly and slip out from underneath the chair on a regular basis. If you pay close attention the suction cups on the legs (which do not work at all) will start to slide forward. Then if it's not corrected they will continue to slide until the bench tilts dangerously to one side or the other. I could easily see how this device could cause a fall in the shower. Get yourself something much more sturdy!!
Shower Chair
December 23, 2012
We purchased this shower chair as a replacement for an earlier model shower chair. There are several things about this new chair that just don't measure up to the old one. First, the back rest is smaller and is lower which does not provide adequate back support. Second, the aluminum rails that hold the back rest in place have only one set of holes to mount the back rest to the chair. The earlier model had several sets of holes allowing it to be adjusted. Lastly, the legs on this chair have a tendency to twist while seated in the chair. I get the impression the legs on this chair are going to break. The legs on the earlier model chair were much sturdier. I would not recommend purchasing this chair for your shower.
