Bachelor must have! Kill your TV!
April 16, 2017
I have fallen in love. This thing is the best! Wish the legs were a little longer. But I planned on putting it on a tv stand anyways.
Love it!
March 25, 2017
Really cool retro record player. I have many of my parents' albums from the fifties and sixties, so easy to play on this record player. Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Vic Damone, etc... Pretty good sound from the built in speakers too. Use it every day!
Great sounding record player and very stylish
December 11, 2016
Great sounding record player and very stylish. If you're a fan of the 60s/70s space age / modern aesthetic and want a decent record player, I would recommend this. The record player is well built, durable, and has great sounding speakers with a quality needle (made by Audio Technica). I know Crosley has a reputation of being sub-par or economical record players, but this one is well worth it.
I can finally enjoy my vinyl collection!
August 11, 2016
Ok so I never write reviews, I just read them sometiems, but I just had to come back to write a review on this product. I am huge when it comes to music so I always need something that is going to be enjoyable to listen to. This exceeded apl my expectations of this product. It looks FANTASTIC, very vintage and retro, great look, it gets pretty loud and as a rocker is how I love my music, and the sound quality is rediculous! has very good bass end because if the size of the hollow body. I had previously owned the Crosley Briefcase turntable (my first turntable) and I was not always into the sound because it was all muffled treble and had no bass and didnt get loud at all, so I kind of started straying away from listening to vinyl but I kept collecting. Now? The sound quality and volume on this thing is so smooth and just fantastic. I'm getting a fresh look at my product, it just came in the mail and I just plugged it in and I was blown away by my test run. Now I get to listen to all my vinyl I've been collecting!
It plays a record well and looks good doing it
April 19, 2016
It plays a record well and looks good doing it. If you are someone who has to have the very best sound quality with all the latest tech then this is not for you. However it is perfect for playing records at a comfortable and enjoyable volume in your home, with a sound quality that I feel is quite impressive for the size and price.

So far it's doing its job and I got no complaints. It looks snazzy and it plays fine. What more do you want for a couple hundred bucks?

Dirty records made new
September 5, 2017
Great cleaning kit. Received quickly and had a STACK of nasty, dirty, filthy old records to clean. After two days of mind-numbing work the records were looking good and ready to play. Received quickly. Good price. No problems except I need another because those records were disgusting.
happy user
December 1, 2015
I ordered this after reading a number of reviews that were critical and which compared it to a prior version manufactured differently. I have not used the old version and an unfamiliar with it. That said, this has been a nifty little product that I've been using to clean records after use and some before use (that I got from thrift shops and the like).I think it has done really well, and it has cleaned up some grubby records, reducing a lot of noise from hair, dust, and such. I am really happy with it. It doesn't magically make my records virgin and new, but it has cleaned up some pretty significantly. I am very happy with it.
More or less still the classic cleaner
October 3, 2015
Years ago my dad and uncles used a similar-looking item to take care of their LP's. This is the modern day version of that and looks similar. As far as function goes, this works almost the same way -- you put a little of the disc washer fluid on the corduroy piece and hold it to the lp surface while spinning the record manually. If I am not mistaken, the original instruction sheet from the 70s said something to the effect of "put the turntable on its fastest setting" and hold the wet part of the cleaner down to the lp that way. I this this old method probably put too much strain on the turntable motor. At any rate, I have used this to clean off some of my old The Who and Todd Rundgren lp's and it did a great job on those. I also used it to clean up some newer Paul Simon from the 1980s and it did great on that as well. I also had some new lp's from Boards of Canada and Hooverphonic that inexplicable came with some weird crusty dust inside the jacket on the lp. A couple swipes with this though and they were just fine. My one gripe is that on the old one the wooden bit was scooped out so that you could hold the liquid cleaner bottle inside and it was very convenient and common sense. This is probably the closest you can get to that other than finding an old one in pristine shape.By the way I recommend having two people (if possible) to clean it, one to hold the wooden piece and the other to spin the record. I had a hard time spinning the record manually, but that's just me.
Better than the AT
September 23, 2015
I had the AT kit and decided to get this to compare with it. This works better as it cleans deeper in the grooves. I know because when cleaning it's harder to turn the record and new records are dead quiet after an initial cleaning. TIP - When trying to spin the record while cleaning it becomes too hard to do using a finger on the label. Better method is to spin the platter using fingers on the edge of the platter at the strobe marks. TIP2 - Run a narrow bead of cleaner down the pad rather than the 6 drops as the instructions say. Records become quieter that way.
Excellent kit for cleaning
July 17, 2015
As a collector of vintage vinyl, I frequently purchase albums in need of a good cleaning. This is an excellent kit to use in cleaning and maintaining your record collection. The detailed instructions are very helpful. The cleaning tool itself has helpful making on one end to assist you in placing the tool properly for cleaning the album. The cleaning liquid is easy to dispense onto the pad and doesn't have an odor (a big positive in my book). A small brush is also included to clean the device of the pad on the cleaning tool. It snaps onto the cap of cleaning liquid for storage. The kit also includes a black drawstring pouch to store everything inside. The only negative is that a very soiled album will require more than one cleaning. However I believe this would be the case with any cleaning method when dealing with a badly soiled album so I didn't lower my rating based on that.I've used this cleaning kit on all if my collection - around 75 albums - and was very satisfied with the results. I recommend it to the causal collector like myself and anyone wishing to maintain and care for their current record collection.
A great investment for record maintenance!
August 19, 2014
I have recently bought a lot of old Beatle albums to go with the ones I already had. The purchased albums, as well as my own older ones, are in various conditions, ranging from clean to "what the heck is this stuff on my record?". This cleaning system has done an excellent job of getting even the dirtiest records clean, and back into playable condition. Very happy with this product! A great investment to maintain these records!

There were many things I really liked about the record player
February 24, 2017
There were many things I really liked about the record player. The style and the way it looked was exactly what I was looking for. My house is almost a 100 years old with designs that are very charming from the past. The record player looked beautiful in the corner living room right under the old outlet plug for the days when radios were plugged into homes. The only thing I wish is that the record player would be taller. I had to reposition my furniture so it would be seen. But other than that I love playing my old records on them and the sound is great!

January 7, 2017
My first record player. I honestly chose it for the design and my affinity for midcentury modern. It looks great and was easy to set up. It was also louder than expected. Very pleased with this purchase!
It sounds good and looks cute
November 30, 2016
This came hidden in a box within a box. It is very cute. I agree with some of the others for the price more care could be taken to the finish. The faux chrome on the front has some bubbles in it and the fabric on the lift top has some sloppy edges. It sounds good and looks cute. Overall I enjoy it. But I do feel perhaps I paid a little too much....

I just received my record player and am very pleased. The sound quality is impressive and you can definitely hear the intricacies and warmth that can only come from a record player. The vintage style certainly adds to this record player's appeal. I will say that it appears a bit larger in the picture. That said, I believe someone correctly listed the height of the player in the comments or question/answer section, so I knew when I purchased it exactly what size it would be. Luckily, it fit perfectly with the other furniture I have which are somewhat lower to the ground.
Great design and beautiful color
March 28, 2016
Great design and beautiful color. It's a novelty turntable so don't expect great things sonically. It does have a better stylus (Audio-Technica) than other Crosleys I've seen, but my most prized records don't go anywhere near this thing.

The brush in this kit is exactly what I was expecting, but there was no fluid in the bottle.
September 11, 2017
The brush in this kit is exactly what I was expecting, but there was no fluid in the bottle. When I opened the package and pulled the brush and bottle out the bottle had a crack in the lid which you will see in the picture. The brush was just what I wanted though and I am happy with it. I contacted Amazon and they immediately refunded my money. So I am giving this four stars based on the brush was what I wanted but you could tell it was older stock that had been sitting around awhile and unfortunately all the fluid had leaked out so I cannot review that part of the kit.

April 9, 2017
In the 70s the brush handle made of wood was hollowed out and the liquid container and cloth would slide into the handle making it all one unit. This one does not do that. So you have multiple items to store next to each other. I wish the old design was still around.
Bad packing.
December 12, 2016
It is what it is. The package had been opened. It was so poorly taped that someone stuck their hand in the box and went through it. Good thing they didn't want it.
Not that bad if you learn how to use it
December 29, 2015
Not that bad if you learn how to use it. I understand its not the old school (much better) version. The older one had some sort of amazing lining that got all the dust in one sweep. (if you know where I can get one of the older ones, please let me know) But this one is not bad at all. I do a regular clean (as stated in the instruction manual) for new records. For very dusty records I try to accumulate all the dust in one line. Meaning i sweep the whole record and stop at one line. Then i wet the discwasher, sweep the dust with the wet side, then dry the vinyl with the dry side. Works pretty well. A bit time consuming.
Same as ever . . . mostly
January 16, 2015
I've had a Discwasher for the past, oh, 30 years. I bought my nephew one of those retro suitcase turntable and decided to also give him this Discwasher set. It feels and looks like my old one with two important differences -- the Discwasher wood handle used to be hollow and you could store the bottle and lil brush inside of it by sliding it in at the open end of the handle. It was a great design and you just didn't lose the small pieces since the brush fit on top of the bottle and the bottle fit in the handle. I thought the picture just was showing the other closed end with the logo. Also, it came in a small box that was sturdy and still is in good shape after living with me through college and more moves than I can count. Now the handle is solid and they give you a dinky bag to store all three in. The discwasher, bag, brush and bottle came encased in plastic with each item separate, what a waste. The nap of the Diswasher looks the same as my old one and I'm assuming the "juice" is the same so my reason for giving a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because of the design and packaging.
Perfect until they ruined the thing that made it perfect
December 24, 2014
A must-have for anyone interested in protecting their vinyl collection and reducing the pops and clicks that come with dust. I've had one of these for many years, but it finally wore out, so this was purchased as a replacement. As far as I can tell it is as good as the first, with one exception: the classic version featured a hollowed-out area in the wooden part of the Discwasher designed to store the bottle of fluid and nap cleaning brush. This version does not have that, so it lacks that practical design elegance and of course takes up more space, and you have three pieces to keep track of. No real value in eliminating the storage area other than it may have cost less to produce. It's like leaving the tailgate off of a station-wagon.

I was disappointed when 2 of the four legs did not screw into the unit properly. I had to contact crosley for them to be replaced. it took too long for the replacements to arrive. I was thinking of buying another one once mine arrived. I thought my briother would like it since he is a retro kind of guy...not sure now. Otherwise it is what I expected---nothing more.

It Is What It Is...
March 23, 2016
...and the reason I say that to set the expectation level because I really wanted this to work. I have a turntable in my basement, but when my wife renovated our den, she suggested I look for a portable/all-in-one record player for that room. After doing some research, reading reviews and discussing at my local record store I decided to take a chance with this model (even though I should've used my better judgement because everything I came across was steering me away from any Crosley record player). Here are some things to note:In terms of aesthetics:- The record player itself has a cool mid-century modern look to it, but it's pretty large.- The legs are detachable, and screw into the bottom if you want. I did not intend to set it up on the legs, and it kind of felt like there was a microwave on our credenza.- The lid will stay in that upright position, as shown in the graphic (I had read where some others models did not).In regards to production/quality:- It's still comprised of cheap plastic, for the most part.- The platter wasn't quite 12" in diameter, but was large enough to support a 12" record so that it did not appear to wobble.- There is no counterweight to balance the tone arm. I probably would've cringed if I had given my copy of Abbey Road a spin.- The sound was OK. Again, I knew what I was getting myself into, so I wasn't expecting to be blown away. I will say that when I plugged some basic computer speakers into the headphone jack it sounded MUCH better. Conclusion:I returned it. One thing to note is that there was no free shipping on the return--even though I bought it via Amazon Prime--so I was out about $18 to send it back. If you're not too concerned with great sound or potential damage to your vinyl, and just want something that plays records and might make a cool accent piece in your room--this could be for you. I know Crosley is trying hard to change their reputation and make better products, but I don't think they're just quite there yet.
Great sound but cheap finish on the front corner piece.

Record player works great, however, not impressed at all with the cheap quality finish on the front.

Not as good as the original Discwasher System
July 3, 2017
Not as good as the original Discwasher System, which had a better quality cleaning surface and brush and solution stored inside the hollowed out applicator.
SOMETIME THE GOOD OLD DAYS WERE THAT GOOD!
March 13, 2017
Just like everybody else, the newer model isn't as good as the older model. The wood block was made from cheaper wood and wasn't hollowed out to fit the bottle of cleaner inside and the brush. I can't say how well the new material on the brush works as I haven't used it yet. I'm still using my old one which originally came in a nice storage box. The original discwasher just looked and felt classy and you felt like it was a high quality item and you got your monies worth. Not to forget the old model worked well. This new one may work as well but the quality doesn't seem to be as high.
It works...not the best cleaner at all though
June 25, 2016
It helps to apply pressure on the record, but that means forcing excess weight on your platter and motor/pulley. Sort of might help to have a separate player just to push down and clean on. Also, the instructions dont explain very well how to clean the cleaning brush...and call me crazy, but don't we want that brush to be clean?
Better than nothing.
February 11, 2016
The corduroy like lining on this discwasher feels rough and gritty. I used it on my records a few times and it technically seems to do the job getting rid of dust and some of the popping and scratching noise. However, I also went out found a vintage dishwasher set from the late 70s with the smoother material and the sound quality is even better using it than this product. I also am less worried about wearing down my vinyl. If you don't have access to an older set, this is better than nothing, but I suggest seeking out a vintage set or something with a microfiber lining.
There are better ways to clean the records
November 6, 2015
This is a must-have product if you listen to vinyl. Experts agree that it is the needle that keeps your records clean, but for infrequently used records there can be significant dust build up. This product picks up the surface dust nicely. The water solution its mostly to get a little static electricity attraction to pick up the dust - only use a small amount.ADDENDUM: After using this for a month, I had to admit it was not getting the job done. I was wondering if I was getting any of the dust off or just leaving it in a line on my record. I ended up buying the Hunt brush and it works much better
Good product design, faulty manufacture
February 25, 2015
I purchased this product based on my father's great experience with a similar kit. The brush and disc cleaning pad were great, but unfortunately the tube of liquid I got didn't need to be opened with a pin because it was already leaking around the nozzle on top, which is fairly irritating. Other than that, the whole kit fits neatly in a black cloth bag that comes with it, which makes it pretty easy to handle, and it has definitely improved the quality I've been getting out of my records.

Decent turntable, but a little disappointed with the sound quality. Other reviews indicated the sound quality was good. Only had it for a few days so far, but there's a good amount of static coming through he speakers.
I wish I had done more research before purchasing
March 7, 2016
This is the "training wheels" version of a record player. It's the starter kit that you quickly outgrow, and which makes you realize your naivety. After playing your first few records, you'll realize the lack of quality sound from the built-in speaker. This will lead you to doing further research regarding preamps/quality speakers, and will make you realize the limitations of this turntable. If you're just looking for a "hipster" chic record player, this is it, but if you care about quality, do more research - I wish I had.
Great aesthetic, poor sound and build quality
August 23, 2015
The "from-a-distance" aesthetic value of the belt-driven Crosley Dansette is amazing -- seriously, it looks awesome when you walk into a room and see it sitting there -- but the build quality and audio components are subpar considering the $200+ price tag. After approximately three weeks of use, I had to return mine due to an alternating whine/hum it had developed. Needless to say, I was disappointed and asked for a full refund rather than a replacement.
I love the look of this
May 12, 2015
I love the look of this. I wanted something that could stand on its own, could be closed when playing and had a speaker. This is everything I was looking for and was very excited and happy with the 10 records it played but then it just stopped working for no reason. I am waiting for approval to return this one now and I would like the try another one and hopefully it works this time.

If you owned an original Discwasher, you will be disappointed.
September 29, 2015
I was very disappointed in this item. I owned an original Discwasher from 30 years ago. Compared to the design and quality of the original, this sucks. The handle of the original was hollow, and allowed you to store the bottle of fluid inside the handle of the tool. It was very well designed and handy. This design is what I expected. I inspected the product when I received it and the fabric is coming away at both ends, the raw edges are visible as well as the stitching, and the fabric is pulling away from the cushion beneath and the wood handle. This was very poorly assembled. The wood handle is an ugly orange stain. It's going back to Amazon tomorrow.
An unfavorable redesign of the original Discwasher
April 8, 2015
I agree with several of the posted reviews that see this RCA cleaner as a poor imitation of the original Discwasher. I still have the original Discwasher that I bought in 1990, and this RCA version does not compare favorably. The original has a cutout in the wood handle that is used to store the fluid bottle and the brush. This new one does not. The cleaning material on the original one has directional fibers. The material on the new one looks like plain corduroy. I am not sure if the cleaning ability of the new one is any less than the original, but I greatly prefer the original.
Excellent cleaner, but the one I received had a hole in the bottle
March 31, 2015
This is a record cleaner that operates by dropping the liquid on the pad, placing the cleaning pad on the disc, and gently rotating the disc (by placing the disc on a turn table and hand rotating the turn table would do the job). The ability of the pad to suck up the dust is quite good with the use of the liquid and you could easily learn how to rotate the disc while holding the pad. I would definitely recommend the product, but unfortunately the seller from whom I bought the kit sent me a bottle with a hole and so I quickly lost a half of the liquid in my first use. I have already returned the product for a refund and so I do not own it anymore but am hoping to get another kid from some more trustworthy seller.
Find a Real One on Ebay!
August 4, 2014
On the heels of my son's re-discovery of my mothballed turntable and LPs, I was thrilled to find-- I thought!-- a new Discwasher with which to clean my old records. Buyer beware: *This item is a Discwasher in name only!* As others have noted, the cloth surface now used does *nothing* to pick up dirt. (Also, the handle is no longer hollowed out to hold the bottle...) This one is headed back to its maker, as I was delighted to discover any number of real Discwashers on ebay.
Ugly and poor quality- not like the original
July 7, 2013
Hmm not sure what happened here - this is available under Prime but it appears I didn't get that guarantee. Originally D4/RCA made a great one of these with the fluid that fit inside the brush and all stored a trim box- this is not that. This on came in a plastic with cardboard hanging package (no box), and a little drawstring pouch for the fluid and cleaning brush..It is not as it is even pictured here....the wood is stained in a weird orange tone, the velvet fabric is light tan and is stitched with visible black thread on the corners. Nothing about this has similiar quality to the original D4 discwasher I thought I was purchasing. :-(
Don't waste your money
May 30, 2013
This is sad. This doesn't count as a discwasher. The material is kind of like the old one, but more like corduroy, and the fibers don't point towards the arrow like they should. It's missing the cutaway hole for the liquid and brush... come on... leaving that out is just lazy craftsmanship. What's the point of shaping the brush to fit in a hole if you don't even have the cutaway? Anyway, I needed this to clean my records, and it partially works, but most of the dust still stays on the record. I would highly recommend getting a used or NOS 70s-80s discwasher on eBay. I bought one and it works 100x better than this thing.

The sound isn't that great. It isn't that bad, either, but what's upsetting is the fact I had to change the needle after a month and they're crazy expensive. 33 or 45? Trick question!
August 24, 2016
I bought this a year ago as a gift for someone. Long story short it stayed in storage for a year and ended up in my home. The speed control is faulty. Set it to 33 and everything sounds like the Chipmunks. Set it to 45 and it sounds like Chipmunks still. Occasionally we get a 33 to play the way it should, but halfway through the track the player speeds up to higher RPMs without explanation. The sound quality of the speakers is rubbish. It's like listening to a tin can, but even that is more satisfying because you get to eat the contents first. 1 star, unless by some miracle the seller is able to provide a working product or refund.

Never had more problems out of a product in my life, I literally don't know where to start. Sent it to me with the belt disconnected, when I put it back on I discovered that the motor than turned the platter did not function at all, sent it back to have it fixed and then after three weeks of use or so the wiring in the speakers shorted out. This will harm your records.
January 2, 2017
Absolute trash. The original discwasher had very fine fibers that stuck out from the cleaning pad in a very specific direction, so that if you rolled the discwasher about 1/4 turn while holding it on the surface of the record, and giving the record a rotation or two, it would do an excellent job of pulling out dust and dirt, even when the dust had fallen down partially into the record grooves. This piece of junk is just a piece of cloth. If you can't find one of the old types to use, you would be better off using nothing at all, literally. This one will just push dust down deeper into the grooves. Some dishonest floundering mid-level executive at RCA or whoever is making this lie of a product thought "we can make thousands and thousands of dollars peddling what is fifteen cents of materials for $15", by fooling people into thinking they are buying the old product that they came to trust. This is my only Amazon review after using Amazon for many years, and it may be my last, but I could not let this rip off go uncalled.

Product was label as new but when opened to use on a vinyl record to clean the liquid disc washer was non-existed or dried up. Very disappointed since it was a gift along with a turntable. Funny thing I have a disc washer product from 1995 that still does the job. Thought it would be a good accessory for my son's new turntable. Really doesn't deserve even one star, only thing useful is the brush ....maybe
Stay far away

This item is worthless. I had just gotten into vinyl a little over a year ago and bought this to clean my records. It doesn't work, it will just grind the dirt into your records. It doesn't get into the grooves like the original one from the 70's did. I guess this product was awesome back in the day. Well, that was then and this is now. This new version is junk. I suggest buying a "Spin Clean". Yes it costs more, but it works.
Beware Faulty manufacturing

I have used this product for about 40 years, always worked as described. My last order (and the first time I has ordered through Amazon) the bottle of fluid was defective (the opening was mis-formed) as Amazon will not replace it I had to cut open the bottle resulting in half the liquid being spilled. My advice; don't buy the product from Amazon or, if you have to, inspect upon receipt and be prepared to return it.
disc washer (bad product)

Nathan,In regards to the disc washer i bought. It is a very poor copyof the oringal disc washer. The original soft nylon brush wasreplaced with cheap courdadoy material poorly sewn & nohole in the handle for the solution bottle. This unit does notclean records as it should. Imported junk.
