This is really meat!
October 23, 2017
Most cat food of this caliber are texture:glob or goo, color: consistent varying to “flavor”, odor: weird overcooked meat-like substance. My cats are finicky, so I mix and match brands, textures, and flavors in the hopes of hitting on the combination that works on a given day.THIS exact variety is DIFFERENT. You can see that over half of it is actual chunks of fish, or actual tiny shrimp. It costs more than other brands, textures, and varieties... but I will pay more for it and include it more often. My cats regularly prefer it. This is the best reason I can think of for recommending it to you.
Purrfect
September 29, 2017
My 3-year old pound purry who grew up institutionalized will only eat the flaked food. I have been seen it available in a case or even a 12-pack at the grocery store. I have been buying singles for the past two years and sometimes cannot get much of a variety. I think most cats either prefer pate or the gravy varieties. So glad I looked for the flaked foods on Amazon. I was able to purchase 4 different flavors of a case each. Best way to buy her food.
Great for picky cats
July 30, 2017
We adopted one cat named Jonathan Louise (female) who will only eat Purina Fancy Feast Flaked Fish & Shrimp. Until we found it, I thought she'd starve because she refused to eat anything. The can really does have a shrimp in it, right on top as you peel back the top. The food is flaky and comes out of the can easily. Any other cat who approaches her Fancy Feast suffers her claws of death. The rest of us suffer her screaming at the fool who dared approach her food dish, too.

So, if you have a very picky, demanding cat, try this one.
It's Good To Try New Things From Time To Time!
May 10, 2017
For eight (8) years my cat would eat no Fancy Feast wet food other than Poultry & Beef Classic Pate. But the last couple of months he's been eating less and less. So I started cutting it up for him and he'd eat a little more. Then I decided to buy (6) different cans of food he never HE ABSOLUTELY LOVES FLAKED FISH & SHRIMP! I know for a fact that I tried this once before seven years ago and he wouldn't touch it.
But just like humans, if we eat the same exact food day after day for years, I guess cat's taste will change as well.
Alice Meow the Cat Loves this one.

Sigh. I know your not Supposed to give Cats a lot of fish, is that correct: but one of our two cats is a Picky eater and she Loves this Trout. She actually makes happy noises what we give her this.

My Fish Love This Stuff
September 17, 2017
Great fish food. My cichlids love this stuff. Im not sure what it is, but I saw they using it in the fish store in 5 gallon buckets and so I gave it a try. The fish go crazy for this stuff. I think it is dried out chum, basically dead fish guts. The fish just love it.
Good food/Good price
April 18, 2017
I bought this for a tank of feeder guppies that appear stressed and sick from the supplier. They readily accept it and are able to rip pieces of the flakes off. The flakes are quite large, but it's simple to smash them a little for small fish. It floats well with bubbles present and seems to be increasing the energy and colors of my fish. The canister I received was poorly sealed, and in the unlikely event that this product was nitrogen flushed, I doubt the gas would have been well contained like a more expensive brand.I bought this largely based on the ingredients, as they appear superior (to me) to the more expensive brands, but at a very palatable price point. I base my opinion of the ingredients on the spirulina being closer to the top of the list and filler materials (such as wheat) is further down the list compared to other brands that I looked at. The bottle was filled to the top with flakes and I have no complaints.
Great product and price, a must have for all tropical fish
March 25, 2017
This is a must for all tropical fish, all types. Great size will last for months ad at a great price, too. Delivered quickly, and no damage done. Would highly recommend seller, product and services.
Great fish food
March 10, 2017
My fish love this food, the flakes are huge in comparison to other flakes in fish food, I also think it keeps the water cleaner for some reason. Large full container for the money.
Happy Fish
July 7, 2016
More correctly, my fish love them. I have a ninety gallon tank and it holds a couple of fish over six inches long who like bigger flakes to go after. This product has large flakes, though they do break down as you reach in to take portions out.
My favorite flake so far!
March 31, 2016
The nutrition ratings on this flake are really good- my fish have definitely shown lots of growth and their colors have definitely popped since i switched to this from that horrible tetra flake. Some of the flakes in this are HUGE. Ive gone through half a can of this so far, and the ones in the middle are still fairly large. Of course, i expect all the smaller flakes to settle at the bottom, but i suppose the size overall will be heavily dependent on how the can was handled prior to purchase. I think i can safely say this will be my go-to flake of choice for my community tank. I have a 125g freshawater tank with mollies, tetras, guppies, blue/gold rams, a few pleccos, angels, and a few others- all of them will readily eat this flake, including my plecos. I have 4 peacock eels which tend to only like live blackworms, but after experimenting and getting a few larger flakes to the bottom, they seem to like this as well- only problem is, most of my fish tend to attack the flakes before they hit the bottom. Will defintely buy again.

Where's the Shrimp???
August 15, 2017
We have 14 all indoor cats & I've been ordering this for at least a few years...I noticed that the little pieces of shrimp are no longer in the cans...I thought it may have been a one time thing but no...I don't think I'll be ordering this anymore coz of that reason...The boyz don't like it as much...
Cats enjoy this now
April 27, 2017
The cat food received from this order was well liked by both inside and neighborhood cats. Previous orders of this product weretainted somehow and even hungry cats avoided it. The problem seems to have been fixed.
Delivered in a timely matter at a good price. Almost all the cans arrived dented
August 6, 2016
Cat only likes this flavor and one other. I cannot get Fish and Shrimp feast during the summer in any of the grocery stores. Maybe they use the fish products for something else during the summer.Delivered in a timely matter at a good price. Almost all the cans arrived dented, but all were still usuable.
The only flavor my cat will eat
August 19, 2015
I have four cats, all are rescues. One cat, who came to live with me when she was seven years old, will ONLY eat this brand, this flavor. She's got a big weight problem, too, which we're working on (she's 24 pounds). She doesn't eat any other canned food (I've tried), she only eats one kind of dry food, and she will not eat human food or kitty treats. My other three cats love it. But then, they'll eat anything!Since this is the only food she will eat, and I often can't find it at the pet food stores, I buy it by the case from Amazon.
Decent food, but not as good as it used to be
January 30, 2014
I'm giving this food a good rating, because it's the closest thing to a natural, diabetic-friendly food that a cat owner can get at the local pet or grocery store. My cat who recently passed, liked this food. I did too, but I was disappointed to notice a change in the quality of the last batch I purchased. It seemed to have a stronger smell, and the texture was different. It looked like it might be made from lower-quality fish. My cat still liked the food however, and didn't suffer any health consequences from eating it.I am thinking that this food might change from season to season, as the available catch changes. So maybe the removal of the star isn't really deserved. However I am keeping the star removed, as this food isn't quite the quality of some other foods like Tiki Cat and Fussie Cat brands. I think 4 stars sums up my enthusiasm however that a mainstream cat food company is making a food that is not full of grains, gluten and meat byproducts. I wish others would follow suit and change their formulas to be less processed and to use more natural ingredients, and perhaps come out with whole lines of products made with such a philosophy.
Cats like it but don't "see" the sodium nitrate.
January 17, 2011
First ... this is one of the Fancy Feast dinners my cats like. And I appreciate the fact that I can identify the ingredients visually.Printed here is the list of ingredients, finally in type I can read without a magnifying glass. I did not know they add sodium nitrate, which is carcinogenic. I have had three of my cats over the years die of cancer. Most of the tumors were in the stomach.I can see that the food looks like food, and it is acceptable regardless of how "red" it looks. To add sodium nitrate to a catfood, when the cats only care about the smell and condition, is simply endangering the life of a pet. Animals have difficulty enough. I still buy this, but not very often. At least it does not have animal or fish byproducts. But I will add an anti-angiogenesis product to their diet in hopes it will counteract the nitrates, at least until I can either find a product I can trust or start cooking for them myself.

Great quality food, but inconsistency in flake size and lots of waste
August 25, 2017
I've been feeding this (along with New Spectrum pellets) to my cichlids for many years, and they love it. The problem is that half the time the jar arrives with all the flakes being crushed and tiny, instead of large flakes as advertised. This of course is due to the handling by Amazon and not ZooMed, but its a continuing problem. And even when there is a top layer of large flakes, by the time you get halfway through, the bottom of the jar is small flakes and powder. I end up dumping all these little bits into an empty jar and now I have at least two full jars of little bits...this is wasting a lot of food and money! (my cichlids are mostly large at this point!)I'd give it five stars if it consistently arrived with large flakes.I keep buying it because the fish do love it but I wish I could find a local store that carries it, which might avoid the poor handling and the tiny bits :(
Fish love it, but not sure how fresh
May 1, 2017
My fish love this flake. However, everytime I buy this food the seal is loose/not on when I open it. SO it's hard to tell if its been opened by someone else, how fresh it is, etc. This is my third time buying Spirulina 20 from Amazon, each time I have the same issue. Flake food goes bad after a couple of months if opened, so you want to be sure it's properly sealed when you buy it.
Good Choice for Fancy Goldfish
January 31, 2016
I wish there were half stars because I would give this 4 and a half.I bought this because the ingredients seemed simple, transparent and fit my goldfish's needs without including a lot of stuff that I did not think was good for him/her. This is the first time I have tried the food and I have been using it for roughly 4 months or so. I am comparing it to brands that you can usually find in pet stores in the United States.Pros:The product is pretty much as advertised: large, very fine flakes that smell like a combination of salmon and spirulina, the two main ingredients. Salmon is actually the main ingredient with spirulina right behind. There is less filler (soy, supposedly better for fish tummies than wheat), no artificial colors, no nasty preservatives (ethoxyquin) like you find in other fish food. The nutrient statistics on the bottle seem to fit what a goldfish should be eating: not really high in either protein or fat, a little lowish on fiber though, so this has to be supplemented somehow with other food.My fancy goldfish loves them: he "vacuums" them up as soon as they hit the water.Cons:The flakes do seem to attract algae into the tank. I find myself having to scrub the walls of the tank twice a week whereas before I started feeding this food, I did not have this issue. It does not seem to contain whole salmon meal, which includes the flesh and innards. Salmon meal to me means the skin and bones basically, but perhaps I am wrong about that. If I am right, whole salmon meal would be far more nutritious.Knowing how to feed a fancy goldfish these flakes without giving it swim bladder problems.Neutral:I did not seen any changes in color in my fish as advertised. He is not brighter, duller, nor has he changed colors like some do while eating food that contains molecules like beta-carotene.With respect to the last point in the "cons" section, fancy goldfish are prone to swim bladder issues. Some reviewers have complained that the flakes get smashed up but this is actually a good thing in the case of these kinds of goldfish. I break these flakes up into a small cup of tank water first, making sure that the flakes sink before feeding them to the "little nipper". This keeps the fish from coming up to the surface of the water and gulping in air while eating the flakes. Would granules be better? Hard to say actually, because they have to be soaked until they expand fully before feeding them, otherwise they do their bloating inside the fish.I usually give these once a day to fishy. As part of a varied diet including home-made veggie gel food, freeze-dried foods like bloodworms, and seaweed, I think this flake food is great for fancy goldfish!I recommend and will be buying again.
My fish like it!
March 4, 2015
My platy's and molly's seem to like it.
spirulina with other things.
August 15, 2013
Spirulina is the main ingredient, but these flakes have a lot of other nutrients. They claim to improve fish color. My fish like them. One remarkable thing about them is the ones I got were in largish sheets. I have some big damsels, and I like being able to put big flakes in for them. A lot of flake foods are more fragile. I would buy this again.
Spirulina Spots!
April 4, 2013
The best Spirulina flake on the market. Made with Salmon meal! I feed it to my African Mbuna Cichlids. Mbuna are mostly vegetarians so their diet must consist of veggie based foods. Spirulina is one of the most nutritious algae's on the planet. Very high in protein and full of beneficial vitamins and minerals necessary for the aid in achieving premium coloration. The only caveat about it though, is it should not be used to feed daily. I was feeding my Cichlids this flake 2x daily for a couple of weeks. I then started noticing little black spots appearing on the fins of my Cichlids. After eliminating any water or parasite issues, I found something about "Spirulina spots" so i googled it. It appears feeding your Mbuna too much Spirulina will cause them to develop black spots. It doesnt affect their health, so dont worry if youve encountered it. They'll be fine. Stop feeding Spirulina flake for 2 weeks and they'll disappear. For Mbuna Cichlid owners, id recommend this product as a supplement to their existing diet. I'd recommend NLS Thera A or Dainichi Veggie FX as a solid Cichlid staple.

My cats enjoy this food
May 8, 2013
My cats would give this five stars. They enjoy Fancy Feast more than any other brand of cat food. I do buy this flavor for variety on occasion, but it contains both wheat gluten and soy products - not the best ingredients for obligate carnivores like house cats. Also it's recommended that fish be fed as a treat, rather than a staple for cats and good health.Addendum: Amazon has raised the price (by $5) on most of the Fancy Feast, and they are no longer competitive. I'll be buying this cat food elsewhere.

Clown fish didn't like it

It's decent flake food
December 18, 2013
I decided to try this flake food because it's easier on fish than pellets and faster than preparing veggies. The food came in a nice big bottle and has very large flakes so it might even last the whole way without becoming powder. My fish do seem to like it, but I have seen some completely ignore it.One concern is something labeled spirulina should have spirulina as the first ingredient. This is actually salmon meal with spirulina added so it has to go light to my more herbivorous fish. I decided this between the graze 8 veggies flakes, I feel I should have got the graze 8 but I haven't tried that food so I couldn't compare them fairly.

My cats love this food. However, there were 7 cans that were spoiled in this case of food and several other cans were bent out of shape. This is not the first time this has happened with this variety. I don't know if this is a quality control problem or a shipping and handling problem, but it should not happen!

Has fish bones!!! Looks gross!
March 18, 2016
There are fish bones in this! It does not look safe to feed to your cat! Unfortunately I can't return it and I was able to mash it up enough and sort through to get rid of the bones and kitty seemed to like it, but I get too worried feeding this to my cat because it does not look good. It's better to feed cats poultry than seafood because you don't know how fresh the fish is, and that is definitely the case with this. Wish I could return it but I already used one can so I guess I'm stuck with it.
Something is Wrong
June 25, 2013
I want to start by saying this used to by my cat's absolute favorite food, for probably a good decade or so. I was excited when I finally started to get it via Amazon Subscribe & Save, too. However, I recently completely cancelled any future deliveries of this particular flavor. It turns to a bright pink color when left out longer than a couple of hours. I know that sounds weird to say. "Eat the darn cat food, cats!" Or, "throw it away, owner!" But, that is not my point. My point is that sometimes cats don't eat right away, and over the last decade when this happens, the food just got dried out. No color change. NOW it not only changes to that weird bright pink, but they are also not a super fan of it like they once were. So, I am saying I think something is now added to the food for WHATEVER reason, or they have changed the formula for the food. SOMETHING IS DIFFERENT. That is all I am saying. For our household, we are done with this particular flavor. We are now sticking just with the cats' (hopefully unchanged) favorite, the chunky chicken feast in the dark green can. I don't want my cats to eat something they used to love that is now gross, and I cannot tell just b/c I do not eat it. Just like I cannot stand when someone changes how a favorite food product of my own is made, and changes the whole taste or texture of it. Yuck. (That could possibly be directed at TGIFriday's spinach dip in the freezer section of the grocery store. Used to be awesome. Now, not as much.)
The ONLY flavor of THIS I will buy! No gluten or fillers!!
September 29, 2012
I would not normally feed any cat Fancy Feast brand- gluten, byproducts &mystery meat is NOT healthy for ANY animal! If you have done research ( which u should!) on cat food ingredients, you would realize that your hurting your cats w/that &in turn will spend much more $ on Vet bills than u would on "grain& gluten free" foods. However, THIS particular flavor has NO gluten &minimal filler if any. Also @17.5% PROTIEN it towers over most more expensive brands!! So this is a good pick at a resonable price for those who don't wish to spend, or cannot spend the $for the better brands. Ppl, our Pets are our Children, u wouldn't feed ur kids any old' junk so "RESEARCH" your brands ingredients! It's not all the same & it's not all marketing hype- I lost my beloved cat of 10 yrs to a sudden Diabetic COMA, DUE to her wet& dry FOOD ( which was "fancy feast"!) So if this saves 1loved companion, I'd be thrilled.. Btw-my cat had never once had any problems, in her 10 yrs.by the time she had any symptoms( which I now realize they WERE symptoms) the vet said " at the time the finnally show symptoms, it's generally too late! So just because your animal "seems" to love the food & show no problems, does not mean there aren't any :( . Hope this helps Someone~UPDATE: 2nd case I have received & I must agree w/others- THIS FOOD HAS CHANGED! My cats USE to love this flavor, now it's a can of soupy mush! Yuck! The all ( but 1of 6!) walk away & it ends up wasted! I am canceling my Sub &save immediately .this stuff is gross &I will no longer feed any animals this. Please read NEWEST reviews , as this formula HAS CHANGED! Will not buy anymore. ;(

My Cichlids love this food. It doesn't cloud the water, and they eat it so fast that it doesn't get a chance to sink to the bottom.Fish have great color, have never had bloat, and prefer these flakes over any others that I've given them. As long as I have fish, this is what I will buy.2/20/17 I had to stop feeding this food, as it caused awful algae in my tanks. I didn't even realize it was this food, until I ran out of it and started feeding my fish Omega One. Changing foods was an instant end to a long running battle with algae.

If I could give no stars I would. I bought this from the supermarket for my kitten to see if he liked it. He ate it in a heartbeat so I figured I would order it from Amazon and save a few bucks. I didn’t not realize until it was in his plate as my sister gave him the food that the tuna and shrimp feast was literally blackish and rotten. He would not go near it at all. Grows Fungi Very Quickly!
February 3, 2016
I purchased this fish food because I thought that it would be nutritionally superior to other foods; however, if any speck of this stuff makes it past your fish, it will turn into a jungle of fungi within about 4-6 hours leading me to think that it may have had fungal spores on it already. The cheap stuff I bought will not grow mold within 2 days (usually the fish get to it by then). Would not recommend this product.
