Great Medium Size Trimmer, Works Great!
April 8, 2016
I bought this trimmer looking to trim my shrubs and the stubborn ivy around our pool. So far, I have only tried it on the Ivy and it worked flawlessly for over 3 hours. It was just what I was looking for because I need something that is corded and will run as long as I need it to. It is fairly light weight and my arm never got tired of using it. It had great power cutting through probably some half inch thick vines and cut through anything that could fit in the teeth with ease. All you have to do is install the guard and plug it in and you will have your yard trimmed in no time.
My Bush Has Never Looked So Good
May 27, 2015
My girlfriend was complaining about how shaggy the bush in my front yard was getting. Something had to be done. But not just any trimmer would be up for the task. I needed something that wasn't just powerful, but also precise. It was important to know I could get the bush trimmed neatly and tight without worrying about causing any damage to the wood.I have to say, when the trimmer arrived I was nervous. But I decided to just dive right in, immediately taking a hefty poof off the top. The trimmer just glided through the bush with ease. Then, I started on the sides and cleaned up the bottom, too. When all was said and done, my bush went from "irritable forest" to the most immaculately kept it has ever been. The thick wooden trunk now has room to breathe, and my bush is the envy of the neighborhood. Women are constantly asking me to share my secret with their husbands. And I just tell them, "Once you go Black (& Decker), you never go back."
See your house again!

Very useful tool. I have a lot of hedges and this things cuts through them like butter. It's light enough to do nice rounded edges and with one hand, which is extremely helpful when cutting the tops and it's a little higher than you.I've used this like a pro even in a drizzle without issue, not rain just a drizzle I got caught in and it's a little powerhouse. See the pic, it does my little rounded hedge and tackles those big brutes easy. I'd buy again, lightweight and tough.
Good power

I'll start by saying I had a pair of these trimmers as far back as 1990. I remember using them as a teenager. This is my first full spring/summer with plants, bushes, shrubs since last year those were just being planted at our new house. A set of corded Black and Decker trimmers were one of the first things on my "needs" list. Call me stubborn, but I don't like those cordless ones. I do like the cord holder that is built-in to these though. I have at least one memory of getting the extension cord wrapped around my arm and slicing right through the cord in the past. These trimmers had no problems with our little shrubs. My only complaint is I read in a few of the questions about this model of the trimmers having the lock-on switch, which my old ones had. I had already taken back the 16" pair to a local department store since it didn't have the lock-on switch. Then received these and no lock-on switch. Instead, you have a safety switch you have to push to use them. Why all the concern about safety? I like the lock-on switch. I can't help but think if you need a button to press before using them you probably shouldn't be using them. Either way, the trimmers work very good. Nice and light especially if you're like me and try to trim the hedges after mowing. That lightness feels good on your already tired arms. Lets bring that lock-on switch back and I'll buy those too. I live in one of those snooty neighborhoods where everyone tries to keep up with everyone else. They are look at my corded trimmers with their noses up in the air, but they probably are getting their blades stuck on tiny twigs.
Awesome for the price!

I have only used this once but it worked great! It needs to be plugged it so I feel it will last longer and if you are using it for at home hedge trimming you wont be dissapointed. 30-something dollars, and it arrived FAST! My yard looks so much better now :)
Works perfectly...

I was looking for something to cut close to my rose bushes where the lawn mower couldn't reach. I tried the smaller cordless version from Black and Decker and was very disappointed with the battery life. I couldn't cut around them all in the 10 minute battery time. I ordered this hedge trimmer and it works PERFECTLY. I really wanted a cordless one but this one has so much more power and I don't have to worry about the battery running out in a short period of time.

Great size and weight!
October 9, 2017
Perfect size and weight for what we needed. We can't seem to have enough of these around this home of ours. I will buy nothing shorter than a 100 ft anymore. It's amazing how they are never long enough to get the job done with the shorter ones.
Good to go for 12A outdoor usuage.

As an Electrical Engineer let clear up some misconcptions.1.  All ratings are very conservative, as they were tested based on the worse conditions anyone would expect to occur and then some.2.  Current (Amps) limitations are to prevent fire, due to heat build up.  Dissapating heat is a major concern, hence all the vents you see and fans you hear in your PCs and other devices. With that said a cable laying on the ground, outside, and not coiled up, is going to disapate heat much more easily than a cable coiled up or inside a wall, the later being a worst case scenario and one basis for the ampere ratings.  More amps more heat. Note that the ratings are based on 30°C (86°F), thankfully fall is much cooler. From NEC Table 400.5(A)(1) Allowable Ampacity for Flexible Cords and Cables [Based on Ambient Temperature of 30 °C (86 °F).Lists 16 gauge wire for; Condition A* = 10A (listed rating of this cord)Condition B* = 13A*Condition A:   The allowable currents apply to 3-conductor cords and other multiconductor cords connected to utilization equipment so that only 3 conductors are current-carrying.*Condition B:   The allowable currents apply to 2-conductor cords and other multiconductor cords connected to utilization equipment so that only 2 conductors are current-carrying.The 3rd conductor is ground and does not carry current under normal conditions, thus this cable would more accurately fall under Class B (13A). This would certify 12A use. There is another factor, the voltage drop in the cable.  This voltage is not available to the load (e.g, leaf blower) and, if too great, would affect it's operation.  The voltage drop in the wire can be predicted using Ohm's Law (Volts= current x resistance). So now we need the resistance of the cable. The AWG (American Wire Gauge) lists 16 gauge wire having a resistance of 4.016 ohms per 1000ft.  That converts to 0.4016 ohms for our 100ft cable.  Aplying Ohm's Law the voltage drop in  the cable will be - 0.4016 ohms × 12 Amps = 4.82 volts.  This leaves 120v - 4.82v or 115.18v for the load.  More than enough for normal operation.  Yes, this is sized correctly and will work for 12A use without issue. Good to go!One final note on extension cords in general, especially if using a cord reel;Regardless of current demand (12A, 10A, 8A, etc.), to prevent heat build-up that could very possibly melt the insulation and create a fire hazzard;=============》 !!! UNWIND ENTIRE CABLE BEFORE USE!!! 《=============..

Black & Decker has yet to disappoint!
April 17, 2016
I bought this to replace an older B&D trimmer that had been handed down to me and finally saw its day. The old one worked great and this one is even BETTER.It arrived early on the day it was promised, so kudos to the seller's shipping team.Attach the handle and guard and that's it, you're ready to go.I gave it a quick test and was impressed even with the trigger. The wheel is a nice touch, my old machine didn't have one and definitely makes it a little easier to do the edging.*** I purchased this item at a discounted price in return for an honest and unbiased review***

April 13, 2016
I had an older version of this and needed to replace it, this was perfect and I haven't had any problems with it at all. I rethread the line myself, as that's cheaper than buying the spools, and I can not be happier with how easy that is. I had many problems with my old one and debated buying another black and decker--but this did not disappoint!
Edited: Garbage
July 12, 2015
This thing has power! My last electric trimmer gave out after less than a year which was annoying and disappointing. I decided to try trusted B&D and as always, they did not disappoint.Edited: I've had this less than 2 months and used less than 3 times and the plastic piece that hold the spool n in place literally melted :/
Black & Decker GH900 Outperforms Other String Trimmers
May 11, 2015
This Black & Decker GH900 corded string trimmer outperforms other trimmers. How do I know that? I purchased four other competitors and compared them. My review and story is below:Last summer, I purchased a B&D GH900 and it performed flawlessly. The automatic line feed system worked brilliantly. Also, this model has only one line, which I prefer. The dual feed line trimmers are difficult to load and unnecessary because of the GH900's high motor RPM speed. Anyway, after using it few months last season, the GH900 developed a problem. The motor would labor and not get up to high speed, so I decided to replace it with a competing brand. That was a mistake.Over the past month this spring I purchased three more corded string trimmers from different manufacturers and they all failed miserably. Most notably was the automatic feed system. None of them worked properly. Even another model from Black & Decker.I read another review where the person gave it a low rating because it only has one trimmer line instead of dual trimmer lines. I give this B&D GH900 five stars because it only has one. The GH900 has incredibly motor RPM rate and dual feed is not necessary. Besides, when you have a jam in the trimmer head out in the field, you can quickly disassemble and re-feed the single line quickly even while wearing gloves. With a dual feed, you have to return to your garage and perform the complicated task of re-stringing it. That's a real pain.In my opinion and from experience, this Black & Decker GH900 auto feed single line trimmer is my choice. It's made of quality materials, has a telescoping shaft for comfortable use by every height user (I'm 6' 5" tall). It's light weight, but most of all the automatic single line feed system works perfectly. I highly recommend purchasing this Black & Decker GH900 string trimmer. I purchased another one and glad that I did.
Trimming is finally easy
May 7, 2015
My old Black and Decker trimmer finally gave out after 6 years. I was very bummed as I had come to know exactly how to use to squeeze in tight place and around plants without whacking the string off or cutting the plants. So, I decided to check out another Black and Decker trimmer that was environmentally friendly and easy to use. After reading some of the reviews, I was afraid this Black & Decker GH900 wouldn't be tall enough for me (I'm 5'11). However, I found the height to be great and I love that you can adjust it to your needs. The other thing I was concerned about was the plant/string issue. However, with the guard, I don't have to worry about chopping up my aloe or other ground plants. It snips right to the edges and cleans up perfectly. I feel the same with the edger (which I have never had a wheel and guard). It's easy to use and I don't have to worry about hitting my pavement. All in all, the Black & Decker GH900 doesn't disappoint at all.
Amazing machine for less than $50!
June 25, 2014
I am 5'2" and am 50+ years old. My husband has a large and heavy gas powered trimmer that he and my sons use but I wanted one that I could use. I decided to buy locally but wanted to do a review here because this is where I started my search. I ended up with this Trimmer for a couple of reasons-reviews, price and accessibility locally. First let me say-LOVE IT! You have to snap 2 pieces on-the 2 black pieces you can see in the photo which takes a mere 2 minutes and you are literally good to go. We have 4 acres and I thought I would just do around the house but this machine is so amazing I couldn't stop! There is that instant gratification you get with a machine like this and well I just kept going. I won't say I have done the whole 4 acres but if I could put enough electric cords together I could absolutely do it all. It is very easy to operate, lightweight enough for me and the shaft can be shortened or lengthened so my sons and husband can use it too. I like it because I just pick it up and go while my son was mixing oil/gas and pulling on the cord to get his going! I was able to get through some areas of the lawn that let's just say were "overlooked" by my boys so they were pretty overgrown-tall and dense and no problem at all. I am using the spool that it comes with and I would say I have used this for a couple of hours each of the last 2 days. Another plus-a good workout for your arms! Even though it is lightweight and easy to use holding a machine you don't normally hold for hours will make your muscles sore! I thought this would be our back-up trimmer but everyone really liked it so I am saying this is going to the front of the line for use around the house and the gas powered for further out on the property. I just wish I had purchased this a long time ago.

Good product. It went through the lantana like a hot knife through butter. It also had no trouble slicing through the extension cord it was hooked up to. YIKES - I really need to be more careful !
Cuts well and is not very heavy when you're extending your reach.

Good trimmer but hard to keep holding the trigger causing your hand to get very tired quickly. I had to improvise and make a sliding ring which allows me to keep it locked on without hand pressure yet can be slid off easily to shut it off.
Corded 17" trimmer.
September 12, 2016
Black and Decker is always a good brand to buy. I was looking for a small hedge trimmer that was corded. I shopped all the known hardware and outdoor stores. ( H & O ). The price on Amazon was way better. Please be aware the standard in the store is 22", this trimmer is 17". So i feel it better for small bushes or thin tree limbs. It you need a trimmer, You cant go wrong with a Black and Decker product
Black & Decker Hedge Trimmer - Ligthweight but Fierce
October 30, 2015
I like this lightweight hedge trimmer. I'm a left-handed, short lady and thought I would have a hard time trimming the neighbor's mutant eighteen foot high hibiscus. (I was using hand pruners in the past; hello, carpal tunnel). Using tools over my head and on a ladder can often be a concern but not with this trimmer. I was able to whack all branches evenly (well, almost) in less than 15 minutes. Meow. It's time to let the mow and blow guy go. No mas.Was missing the two screws that attach the guard. Had spares.

July 19, 2015
I bought this to replace a similar B&D hedge trimmer I had for about 25 years. (The motor finally burned out on the old one). This one is slightly improved. It's extremely light weight which makes reaching and one-hand use very easy. The strain-relief for the power cord is an improved design. And the overall cutting performance is much better. It really hacks through some of my heavier shrubs, which I have let get a little overgrown over the years because my old trimmer could only do so much. The only thing I don't like is the dead-man feature. My old one had a trigger with a lock. Once you locked the trigger on, it would continue running until you pulled the trigger again. Not a dead-man at all. This model has a thumb safety that you press to enable the dead-man, which runs the full length of the grip. But the dead-man gets tiring after extended use. You have to keep constant pressure on it with your fingers. Most dead-man features are located on the back of the grip where the palm goes and remains engaged as long as you just grip the unit. That way you can change or readjust your grip without getting fatigued and the unit continues to run.The price is very reasonable.

Long cord
June 28, 2017
It is as advertised a long grounded power cord. It is working well and shows no signs of issues.
Works fine.
June 19, 2017
What can you say about a extension cord. Works fine.
Decent price, long length, fairly safe, but kinks more. Not from Coleman Camping Outfitters as implied.
June 4, 2017
Fluctuating price & coupon was right. Soft Cord kinks easily. These ripples, when wound, catch making it hard to unravel smoothly. Looks wavey. Knots up more than expensive hard cords. Was at my front door a day and a half after ordering at no expense to me. Fine extension for the price.
Light duty only!
July 20, 2016
I'm using this to power a auto air inflation pump. The pump draws 1.5 amps. This is a light duty extension cord meant to handle 13 amps maximum. Even taking into account start up surge, I should be safe. This extension cord is light duty only. A current load anywhere close to the 13 amp maximum should be upgraded to an extension cord made with 14 or even 12 gauge wire.A light duty extension cord should be able to handle work lights, portable fans and hedge trimmers.Shop vacs, lawn mowers, table saws, power drills and chain saws cannot be used safely with this extension cord.
Long Outdoor Cord Is Perfect For Electric Snowblower
March 1, 2016
Bought this as an accessory for an electric snowblower. I had other cords but it seemed wise to get a single long waterproof cord; joining two shorter cords outside in the snow and wet seemed needlessly risky.Glad i did it. Have used it only once but it worked perfectly and with no worries. Not all that cheap, but it seems worth it to feel safe !

Good trimmer, mine had a defective switch but was able to repair it. If you don't mind dragging a power cord go for it.
June 9, 2017
Works well, mine was slightly defective, and the switch failed very early in it's use. Fortunately it uses the same switch at the trigger as for changing modes via rotation of the trimmer head. I literally have no idea what the other switch does? Maybe it was for limiting string output during the other mode, but I switched the two switches and it has been working fine for 2 seasons. I'm on my second spool of trimmer line so havn't used it too much but any way pretty reliable. Works every time you plug it in if you can stand dragging out the cord every time...
Precision cutting and powerful. The handle needs a more durable locking mechanism, keeps slipping.
May 12, 2017
Have used it twice to trim the grass and weeds around the house. It cuts very well as intended. Has plenty of power to get through any thick grass with ease. The only down side is the handle. No matter what position I lock the handle in, after several minutes of use it will slip out of the locked position and rotated all the way up. May have to use duck tape to lock it in place. Overall, it cuts with precision and ease.
It's a cinch.
June 26, 2016
After wasting too much time and money on gas trimmers from 3 different manufacturers that were heavy as hell, a PITA to start, and maybe lasted three times before they died ignoble deaths, I gave this electric trimmer a shot. It's light, you pull the trigger, and it whacks like crazy. I had this 6' tall marsh grass growing in the backyard in some dense clumps and this thing took care of it. Even some woody vines were chewed up nicely. Stuff much thicker than a pencil stymied it, but what did you expect? A chain saw?The initial spool of mono that comes with it is pretty skimpy, and the replacement spools weren't cheap. But they do drop in and go, a total cinch. What's your time worth? At least you have the option to rewind spools, but I hardy see myself bothering. The mono is good quality as the replacement spool took out the majority of the marsh grass and there's still about 2/3 of the roll left. Haven't had use for the edger, so I can't comment on that. And yes, dragging around a cord kind of sucks. But considering the price and the performance of the trimmer, I found that a little intelligent planning makes cord management not too dreary. Definitely a 4 star product for what it was designed to do.

Much better than the two string models that are overly complicated to keep the feed mechanism going. I did have to rewind the string it came with, but after that it worked like a charm.

GREAT FOR SMALL YARDSbought this as a replacement for one that came with my Black & Decker MTE912 12-Inch Electric 3-in-1 Trimmer/Edger and Mower, it was a perfect fit after 1 modification i had to use the smaller guard from my old trimmer .i used the living daylights out of the old one and i was very pleased with it so i had to replace it. this is the perfect replacement
Great trimmer for a great price
April 7, 2014
I've only used it once so far, but I can honestly say I'm very happy with my choice. It was the first mow of the season so the lawn was a bit scraggly and overgrown, so it was a good test of performance. I removed the edging wheel because I have a separate B&D edger for that purpose and I figured why not reduce some weight. The trimming power is perfect and since I mainly use it along my fence I wouldn't want it to be any stronger because this one easily has enough power to damage the 8 year old wood fence if I'm not careful.I previously owned a Black & Decker 18 volt battery powered GrassHog. That particular trimmer was great, but after 3 years those batteries barely hold a charge and the replacement cost at $40+/each is quite high. I'm hoping I get a longer lifespan out of this corded version.[UPDATE July 1st, 2014]I've been using the trimmer for a few months and I'm happy to report that I'm still very satisfied.[UPDATE April 9th, 2015]Some good and bad news to report... The trimmer seized up on me during the first mow of this season, but thankfully B&D has a 2 year warranty on it. I brought it to my local B&D service center and was told that it does not have any serviceable parts, so they sent me a brand new replacement unit.

Decided against the trimmer because of the 3.2 amps. Wanted a higher amp. did not take out of the box. This compares to the hedge trimmer I have that has lasted over 18 years.
Works, but is shorter than expected
September 12, 2016
This thing works alright, but it replaced a heavier duty, longer bladed model. It's too short for large bushes.
Can you hear me now? OH, it must be a poor connection.....
July 25, 2016
I don't really have a complaint about the trimmer. It is lightweight and easy to use. My grouse is the plug connection. Even though I have several extension cords, none of them fit the plug, which is inconveniently recessed into the handle of the trimmer. It is also telling that B&D hides this connection on the box pictures. They must have been embarrassed to show such a stupid design. Rather than return the trimmer, I bought a $5 plug at HD and installed it on one of my cords. If you are buying this product, and don't want to spend twenty bucks on a cord, then be sure you have a cord that has a single, small female receptacle. Further complication may come from the diameter of the cord wire for the strain relief on the trimmer handle to work. If the cord holder doesn't fit, then you will likely be losing the plug connection when it comes loose from the trimmer. I use a cable tie to keep the plug tightly connected to the trimmer. Too much trouble, but fortunately, I don't use a trimmer very often.
No "hold" switch to keep it running, but cuts good
October 15, 2015
Just a 3 star due to no "hold" switch after you turn it on. You must hold down(pull back and hold) the switch button the entire time you are trimming. This is probably due government super safety rules and B&D has no choice. It just makes your job tougher. My older unit of 20 years ago had a switch that you could use to keep it running without holding it.
Nice cutting trimmer
July 14, 2014
It does a great job of cutting. I really have an issue with the fact that there is no "lock on" button. My hand gets tired fairly quick from holding the trigger. If you have strong hands, this will probably not be a problem. Otherwise it is lighter than most and trims nice and clean.

OK for the price.
July 20, 2014
It's a cheap cable (paid $9.99 for the 50' model) and it's light. It's not a bad cable, but you get what you pay for. I have a nice 12 gauge US Wire extension cord that is well made, but heavy. This little guy doesn't seem the most durable, but it hasn't fallen apart either. It does have the benefit of being light (which is natural for a thinner gauge cable). This is good for when you are only going to use a low powered piece of equipment as it's nice to not have to lug around the heavy extension cord. If you are looking to run big tools like table saws, etc. I'd opt for a thicker cable. If you are just looking to run a leaf blower now and then or other lower power jobs then this cable will fit the bill.

It shorted out after using it for six months! The end where you plug it into the appliance caught on fire with a little stream of fire coming from that end. Was lucky enough to detach it from the working appliance that it was being used on. Rubbed off the excess char from the working appliance for it still runs yet the extension cord was charred and one side was flattened.Seeing now if there is still a one year limited warranty on the extension cord itself to replace it. Otherwise will have to pay out of pocket to replace after only six months of using the extension cord. Sure was something to have the appliance stop suddenly then to kick back on to notice the little stream of fire coming from the plug in piece on one side of the cord. At least not a total lose since the working appliance as stated earlier is still workable just had to rub off excessive little char on it.

Not a huge fan. I didn't realize this was an electric weed eater, but that wasn't a deal breaker. used it once and it went through an entire spool of string. I didn't know that until the 2nd time I went to use it (of course). It has an auto feeding string, which I much prefer the manual feeders. I also looked forward to the rolling trim feature. It was ok at best. I'll give it another shot when I get some more line, but I'm not real optimistic that I'll love this ever.I recommend getting one with a manual string feeder.. or a traditional gas one. walking around the yard with an extension cable is about as fun as it sounds.
Just OK.

I've used several trimmers over the years, this one isn't my favorite, but it gets the job done.-1 star for the auto-feed design. It well let out a bunch of line if the line is wrapping around something, like a pole. When I'm not careful, that long line, when cut, will whip me right in the ankle -- not fun if you're not wearing long pants.-1 star for handle slippage. The handle is adjustable but has the tendency to slip out of place once or twice during each use requiring me to break my stride to fix it.The wheel is a two edged sword -- great for edging, but bad for getting into really tight spaces.
Meh. Spend a little more for something better if you can
July 2, 2017
This is really only suitable for a shorter person with a tiny yard and a lot of patience. It doesn't lock into place, it's always loose and sliding out of place. The wanna-be edger part will do okay once you get a feel for it, but only if you have about 20 reams of line for it (line that fits this is so thin and weak it breaks constantly and is all gone about every 15 feet. There's no heavy duty line in a size of .070 like this weedeater requires.) If I had a bigger budget for this I woulda gotten something more substantial for my little suburban yard... this is way overpriced for its abilities.

June 19, 2017
The edger works fine but the only problem I have with it is that when you secure the electrical cord it is so close to the start lever that it has hit it several time and started the trimmer before I was ready. Once it took a big gash out of my ankle. Now I am a lot more careful when inserting the cord.
If $25/year is acceptable for you...
September 24, 2016
I always take a low percentage of negative reviews as user error or lemons, so went ahead & purchased via Amazon. While worked was acceptable for trimming/edging, line replacement/feeding & ergonomics. Worked for 2 years then simply quit. Works out as $25/year. Intentional depreciation B&D? Acceptable return? Not for me, but maybe my expectations are too high. Written as I sit in lawn chair after troubleshooting as recommended to no avail, so have 1/2 way done yard.

August 8, 2016
The product description didn't make it clear that it needed a separate power cable, two-prong nonetheless. I am finding it difficult finding a power cable to fit it. Had I known, I would've purchased one that was ready to use out of the box!
Nice and lightweight, but not a workhorse
May 22, 2016
Nice balance, light weight. Use it ONLY for light hedge trimming of thin new leaves and branches in a clear area where you are sure it won't hit anything else.I cut weeds with it and the wild berry bushes that were taking over the corner of the yard. Probably 4 hours total use. I hit some wire fencing in the berries and bent a tooth. The tooth started hitting the blade. My son the machinist tried to straighten the tooth, but now it catches the thin branches between the blades and totally jams. It is too integrated into the plastic body to be able to easily take it apart and straighten it properly. Time to throw it away.

needs new design for attaching power cord.
May 27, 2015
This is 4th hedge trimmer over last 10 years. The first two lived long lives. The 3rd one works however I can't keep the power cord making contact. Very annoying and time consuming. so just purchased a replacement. I'll be darned if keeping the power cord connection is a problem with this one. I even changed out per cords and spread the prongs so thy hopefully would stay plugged in tighter. No luck. Quite annoying.
Disappointing...
July 29, 2014
Not particularly effective at cutting/triming horsetail hedges. Twigs are cut cleaning vs the softer stemmed horsetails are kind of munched and ground into submission. Against all safety cautions, I found that the only way to get a clean cut is to hold the top of the stems with one hand guiding the oscillating blades toward them. We're back to using scissors, much more time consuming but at least we still have 5 fingers per hand...
gets dull pretty quickly

not so sure it ca cut multiple 5/8"branches i tried and its already going dull after 5 uses choose a better brand

Wouldn't buy this brand again
August 23, 2017
This is listed as an outdoor cord, but when it gets cold it gets really, really stiff. And when it gets hot, I sometimes can't get things to power up. Not much of an outdoors quality. And the brand WAS NOT Coleman!
Double check what you're buying it for.
July 15, 2017
Bought this on suggestion for leaf blower, but it's not heavy duty enough for it. To return it, half my refund would pay for shipping, so guess I'll keep it and see if something else comes along that can use it. :-(
Spend more on a better cord
December 20, 2016
Cord is stiff and coated with some cheap plastic. Very difficult to recoil or work the kinks out. Recommend spending a few more dollars on a higher quality cord.Mine also arrived with a gash in the plastic coating.
Nice length wire
April 23, 2016
Pro: Nice length wire.Cons: With 2 uses outdoors it has developed cracks near the end and at other places of strain. I don't think this is an outdoor wire for Lawn accessories as intended, but may be fine for stationary equipment. The product is not worth the cost.
Should have had three pin connectors.
January 29, 2015
Sold as a packaged recommendation with the GreenWorks 26032 12 Amp Corded Snow Thrower. Well, the Snow thrower is a three pin and this cable is 2 pin so you cana. use it with the risk of electrocuting yourselfb. return it.
Corde became very twisted..
January 3, 2014
This extention cord is perhaps a bit too long, once it is twisted, it doesn't want to uncoil. I thought about hanging long sections of it off my 2nd story window but there doesn't seem to be enough kinetic energy in it to uncoil.. By uncoil I don't mean untangle.. Rather the twisting forces on the cord do not 'unwind'.

You'll spend a small fortune on line
July 30, 2017
This would probably be the perfect edger for me, being a petite woman taking care of a small yard. It's light weight with a lot of power and the wheel provide easy movement for edging. HOWEVER, I used the line it came with before even finishing one side of my very short driveway. I then bought additional line to finish the driveway and I had to refill it THREE times before finishing. I think I spent more time replacing line then I did actually edging. I thought this was a good deal and was saving money by going the electric route but in the end I'll spend a small fortune and a lot of valuable time on the line. Will return and go back to gas.

July 10, 2017
If you buy this, wear long pants when using it and buy Stock in the Line Company! The "Autofeed" does a lot of that! Too much in fact. The line is then cut off by a little blade in the Guard and flies into your shins and cuts them if exposed.
Most aspects were great: it's lightweight and did a fine enough job ...
July 1, 2017
I bought this two years ago (thus the warranty does not apply any longer--I should have returned it sooner). Most aspects were great: it's lightweight and did a fine enough job of trimming and edging. BUT the string and the spool--always always a hassle. I found that I had to extend the string each time I went to use this product and sometimes more than once during a session (the area I use it for is approximately 20' x 8'). Often I had to open the cap to perform this function and every time the string would loosen on the spool, so I would have to wind it tight again and sneak the cap back on before it unspooled again. Finally, a piece from the spool housing cracked off. I would have to completely disassemble the spool housing and replace it (the replacement part looked around $40 for a $65 product). Sigh. Not worth the effort and certainly not worth the constant work overall. I gave this two stars because when it worked, it was fine. But in retrospect, not worth those few and far between moments.
Uses trimmer line faster than I could replace the spool
April 23, 2017
I have owned 4 B&D trimmers over the years. They all had a particular life span and I was well satisfied with their performance. This current model gh900 was using up trimmer line faster that I could put it in. With my other models I could trim my property entirely on about half of a spool. This model I went through 2 spools and I was only about a quarter finished. At about $5 a spool this is crazy. I will search for another trimmer.
Great trimmer, while it lasted...
April 10, 2017
I bought this in August 2016, loved it, worked great as a trimmer and really liked the edger feature. Pulled it out in April 2017, first time to use it in the spring season and it died while edging my sidewalks. Seems to be an electrical short or something. Has a two year warrany, but closest authorized repair center is 90 miles away. Still debating whether it is worth repairing, even if under warranty, because the price was so low. I don't think I would buy Black and Decker again.
I ran out of the string in the starter spool before finishing on the first use
September 7, 2016
Main issue is the amount of string it uses. Have to change it at least every mow. I remember growing up and only needed to change the string about once or twice per season. I don't understand how we're going backwards 20 years later. It's not like Black and Decker is making more money on string My last unit was a Black and Decker battery unit that only needed to be changed every month or so. . With this unit, I ran out of the string in the starter spool before finishing on the first use. I had to re-spool to finish the job. Keeps loosing string like crazy.Other than the string, the unit seems fine and has plenty of power to get the job done. The wheel helps with edging. Would give it 5 stars if not for the sting issue.

This thing is garbage..
August 17, 2015
This thing is garbage...I used it 1 time and then it stopped working. It was on very small bushes and way below the capability of this product. I figured I would buy a new one that would last a very long time instead of finding one at a garage sale. WASTE OF MONEY- And apparently it is past the 30 days so Amazon will not let me return it. Save your money!

Fire Hazard wire
June 10, 2017
What a waste !! Never ever buy it. Dont waste your money. It is a fire hazard. I was using to charge a battery and after couple of hours, I notice a smell. The wire was incredibly hot at certain portions of wire and was almost melted.
Test it when you get it
May 30, 2016
If you order this extension cable, I suggest you check it when you receive it. It never crossed my mind that it might be faulty. I just had a need for it and it doesn't work. I plugged an item into the socket and that works, but the extension cable does not. It's too late for me to return.
Sheathing tears easily
July 26, 2015
I got this for our electric lawn mower and snow blower 5 months ago. We have been hiring a snow removal service towards the end of the winter (got too fed up with the northeast winter), and our lawn is tiny and we have not been mowing it very diligently, so this cord has not been used much, maybe 10 times or less. However, when I take it out today, I found that the sheathing is already torn! The cord has been on a cord storage roller the whole time, and we are careful not to let it twist, unplugging and unwinding as it needed.I am just very disappointed by the quality of this. We had another outdoor cord that lasted many years, until someone accidentally short circuited it and melted the plug. Never have I seen the sheathing torn so easily - look for another brand unless you want to buy another one soon.

the outer sheathing is very brittle. first use i had it outside in the cold, and after being stepped on a handful of times, the outher orange sheathing has cracked off. kind of defeats the purpose of the thing.
More smoking problems
October 19, 2014
I had the same issue after two years as been mentioned here - smoking from the end that you plug your appliance into. Happened first with my leaf blower then with my lawnmower.Buy the U.S. Wire product. Might cost a little more but it won't be a danger

The single line setup uses too much of the spool. There is no consistent spool control. You will spend more money on spools over time.
Outdoor 3 prong extension cords do not work with this!!!
September 21, 2016
Warning: The power connection on this does not allow a 3 prong extension cord to be used. The two prongs to which you are to connect a power cord are set down in a casing. They made the casing for the power plug too small to fit a 3 prong extension cord. I want to be able to use a 100 ft extension cord. The manual suggests at least a 14 gauge cord for that length. I am having trouble finding a 14 gauge (or 12) 2 prong that will fit it. I might have to find some kind of extender piece or just break off some of the plastic casing to make room for a cord. I might revise my review once I actually am able to turn it on. What kind of extension cord is everyone who is rating this highly using???
strong motor while it did last, auto feed is a piece of 💩.
May 20, 2016
I've had WorxGT battery operated unit before this one. The batteries would no longer hold a charge so I bought this. Being corded, it was much more powerfull than the Worx unit, but used more line in less than one year than in 5 years of useing the Worx. The whole issue with spitting out line is a serious design flaw. I couldn't even complete the edging, let alone the weed waking with a single full spool. Then 11 months after having it the motor has seized up. Going to go with another brand now.
Strings withdraws often
August 15, 2015
Immediately after taking it out of the box and using it the string drew into the spool with their winding of string. I tried at least 10 times to wind it properly and still withdrew back into the spool. When it withdraws I had to stop pull off the spool and rewind the string, this take up to 5 minutes each time. Almost every minute it withdrew into the spool. I sent it back.
