Great product meets and serves very many uses. Very reliable product with great expectations.
5 stars, just wish it wasn't so bulky.

This thing is huge. Easily takes up the good majority of your power outlet. Fortunately this thing makes no noise, stays cool (even after 24 hours of continuous use), and all the voltage settings are true. I bought it for the Led light on my fishtank after going through an unreasonable amount of AAA's.
Works fine for me

I needed a 1.5 v adapter for my myzone tv headphones, One review said same thing but said he used 4v setting, I tried 1.5 v first and it works fine. Will save a lot of money instead of buying batteries.
Go for it!

Perfect, works for both center positive and center negativr
June 27, 2016
I needed a second power adapter for the video screen portion of my baby monitor so I didn't have to unplug the power adapter from the bedroom and bring it into the living room in the morning and then the reverse at night. Summer Infant wanted something insane for their adapter, and of course to make it difficult to go another route it is a 7.5v center negative DC adapter. I expected to have to cut the wires on this to achive center negative but it turns out the tips are easily reversible so after finding the right (ish, it's a little long) tip just had to check with a multimeter to ensure I had center negative configuration. The voltage isn't perfect, I was getting around 7.6 with my multimeter. If you're looking for a power supply that is more exact you'll spend more money.
Works Great

Works on my portable CD Player, so I can conserve batteries for outdoor use. just make you read instructions and use right polarity as shown in pic.
I bought this and it fit perfect! Definitely recommend

I have a earring display case with lights in my store. One day the lights stopped turning on. I noticed when the lights died so did sales! The lights attracted people's attention to the earrings and now with the lights out people weren't noticing the earrings. The lights also helped make the earrings sparkle. So I knew I had to get this display case fixed up! There was a short in the wire. I bought this universalpower adapter and it fit perfect! Works exactly as it says! There are different tip sizes so you have the option of using this wire on multiple items. There is also a settings dial that you can easily turn to set the amps. I love how this adapter has so many options. I hate when I buy a product and I'm stuck using it only on one thing.Definitely recommend! If you found my review helpful please click "yes" below.

I got it really fast!...I thought was going to take another day or so. I like the different connections in case i need to use it for other things. I am using it to plug a surveillance camera I have in my living room and the only thing I noticed is that it unplugs from the camera very easily if the camera is bumped. I was able to keep camera steady and it's staying in place now. I wish the cable was a bit longer but that's my fault for not checking. Otherwise it works great for what I needed it for.
IMO the best at its price range and versatility
December 12, 2014
If you make a device you need a permanent power supply for this is your device. You can adjust the power supply and the voltage is regulated so if there's any problem with your device it won't be compounded by a crude, cheap device overloading it as you risk by cannibalizing a cheap jack from a cheap no longer used device. It's not expensive but not cheap and for what you pay for its well worth it.Now, my perspective is a gadget guy for making things. For replacing that lost power jack to an old pre USB charger device you could do no better for anything from a phone's charger to a video game system. Just research for what is the positive and negative, some devices get killed instantly if polarity is reversed. You can change that with this device, the power end has two equal prongs and the wire is marked. Also the selection of jacks will fit the smallest to largest you'd want for the power range it will give.
Voltage Regulation is a Big Plus
February 19, 2011
Unlike all the other universal DC supplies I've seen, this one is voltage regulated. This means there's a semiconductor control that keeps the voltage constant across a wide range of loads. Without regulation, the voltage of a DC supply will only be correct when it's providing its rated current output. If the load is less, the voltage will rise and could damage the device being powered. The supply is rated for 1200mA and can run on AC at 100 to 240 volts. Under a 580mA load on the 12v setting the voltage fell from 12.06v to 11.82v. On the 6v setting it fell from 5.68v to 5.48v. This is pretty good. With the regulation, there's no risk of damaging the device being powered, as long as you set the voltage and plug polarity properly.Compared to another of my universal supplies, this one causes a bit less buzz when powering a little self-amplified speaker. I had to hold the speaker right up to my ear to hear the noise.Since it's a switching power supply rather than a transformer, it's small and light compared to other universal supplies I've seen. When left plugged in with no load, it doesn't get warm at all.The AC plug prongs fold down for easier storage. The only criticism I'd offer is that the selection of plug tips could be better. I'd like to see a couple of the headphone-like plugs, and a 9-volt battery connector. If it had 12 plug tips like some other supplies, it'd be a perfect product. But I think you can buy other tips of this type; it seems to be a standard.I may buy a couple more of these.

Works well. I don't know why "SONY" is in the title, it's not s SONY product. -1 star, as it doesn't have a 9v adapter, and only 500mA output. Otherwise works perfectly for many small devices.

It arrived fairly quickly within the time frame given. Worked great. Had a cd player that didn't have a cord. I like having the different choices so I can use it for multiple things if needed. Needed to play with it a little to get it to the right setting for me.

Good for more than sound systems
August 4, 2016
I bought this as a power adapter for a wireless headphone set. It works well. The only problem I experience is that it seems hard to get the adapter in the plug just right, but once you do you no longer need to worry about this.
Good value but sloppy voltage
March 8, 2015
Pretty good. It does not work like a rheostat, i.e. If you turn the dial just past the 3V mark it does not give you slightly more than 3 volts. It will give you 3 volts until you slip into the 4.5V detent. Detents on the switch are a little hard to find, but they're there. Output voltages are good, but not great. For instance, at the 6v detent it gives me 5.78 volts output. That's a 3.6% error. I would have liked to see the 6V setting produce at least 5.9 volts. Other volt settings vary. The 12v detent gives you exactly 12 volts.
Hope you like GREEN

Ordered one of these and it came damaged, as in it did not create any power flow when plugged in. I returned that and got a new one which worked just fine. However, please note that when this unit is plugged in there is a green light on it to show you that it is getting power...and we're talking BRIGHT green light. It's not a big deal for me because this happens to be used in my house in a cabinet so it's not a problem, but if this were in some exposed area of my house I would hate it because it would light up the room. Other than that, the unit works as advertised.
Works a charm!
November 22, 2014
Our summer infant baby monitor developed issues with the supplied AC power adaptor, and just wouldn't work. So instead of forking out another $150 for a new baby monitor I spent $10 on this little gem. Works a charm! Make sure you set the voltage and polarity correct before using though, you can find this out from included instructions.
Great Value but a few minor complaints
June 5, 2013
This is a nice little a/c adapter with a lot of versatility (a range of voltage outputs and reversible polarity) and plenty of current capacity. I didn't test the actual output voltages and current capabilities with a VOM, so I will have to just trust that they are reasonably in range. My minor complaints with this products are 1) that they provide no place to store the tips which are supplied - they could have easily made the tip holder clip on the side of the main unit, and 2) that the pointer on the voltage selector dial is very hard to see making it easy to select the wrong voltage - they could have easily just marked it in white.Otherwise, it seems to be working fine and was a good value and shipped quickly.
Cheap and universal DC adapter
June 30, 2012
Needed a universal DC adapter for my childs toys. This seems to work well. Has selectors for 3,4.5,6,7.5,9,12 volts, as well has 6 different plug connectors. The tip of it sits on two prongs and you can turn it around to reverse the polarity of the plug. Make sure you look at every device you're going to plug it into and check which polarity it needs (some devices may be damaged if you hook it up incorrectly). My only real gripe with this is how easily the tip comes off and how theres no clear markings on it (you just have to remember based on the writing thats on one side). So I frequently find my son hooking it up incorrectly and it not working since the tip comes off constantly. Otherwise a good price and good adapter - been in use for about a year without issue.

It works as a temporary fix. We use it on a baby monitor since the original cord was broken. Now the small adapter piece is broken, I unplugged it to check and see if there was an issue and one of the little prongs have come out and we now have to find a new cord before tonight or we won't have a baby monitor.

Does exactly what it says and instructions are good. Do check the tip polarity and make sure you have it set the right way before plugging into your electronics. I bought this for a Midland weather radio whos power adaptor went out after 2 months.Updated 5/25/17:Used this with the radio above no issues for a few months. Moved the radio to my travel trailer where it was difficult to insert into a standard outlet. This appears to have shorted the unit out. I removed a star for durability as I had to buy a replacement. Note that this outlet has not fried any other electronic plugged into it so it was the pressure of plugging in that caused the short.
Decent Power Supply for a replacement.
July 20, 2015
I bought 2 of these to be on the safe side since my husband's Android Tablet is constantly running out of a charge. I was hoping that the interchangeable plugs was going to be of better quality. 1) When I first put the adapter piece I needed, I couldn't tell which way I needed to put the adapter in. There wasn't a + or - so it was definitely a guessing game. 2) I had to guess which setting to put it on and it took me 5 minutes of playing with the dial on the device to get to the right voltage. 3) If you so much as bump the dial or something shifts the plug, the dial turns and it won't charge correctly or at all. 4) It overheats like crazy. I have to be very careful when unplugging the A/C adapter because it gets extremely hot.Other than those 4 things that I have problems with, the power supply does charge, does do it's job and I'm overall satisfied. I just wish it wouldn't overheat and the dial would stay in place better.
AC power supply woes...
December 10, 2013
I bought this because this AC power supply because the power supply I received with my incredibly cheap android tablet's wire (so cheap there was no brand name on it...anywhere) came apart at the junction that plugs into the machine. This high quality (LOL) electronic item also has the unfortunate problem of a battery life of only about 45 mins., so I need to keep the AC thingy plugged in at all times. I don't think the wires and connections are made strongly enough for constant use. So, I actually give this 5 stars for performance and 3 stars for durability. It does its charging job quickly, but I got really tired of the power line falling off of the L- shaped adaptor that goes into the machine. And as for my cheap little machine it keeps plugging along. Oh I bought this in June. So it lasted June to Dec. with constant use. It could conceivably last years used in a static situation. This time I am ordering one a little more expensive with a different plug-in shape.
When it worked, it was great!

Voltage output not accurate
February 5, 2015
Adapter was purchased to run a small desktop fountain that requires 3v. The water pump barely runs on 1.5v, but runs far too fast on 3v. This adapter is not well calibrated to put out the exact voltage needed. Probably due to cheap resistors. Would be better to just have a dial for voltage so I could pick something in between.
Is it too late to return this?

Voltage doesn't match selections on charger, much higher than listed and amperage listed as 500mA in ad does not match packaging 1000mA, so in my ignorance, I wrecked my batteries,

You better pull it out straight or it will bend or ...
November 4, 2014
Cheap in price, cheap in quality... I brought this charger because I have several different size power drills, with different voltage. One does all was my thinking. When I first open the box, I read the instruction, something I usually don't do. Lucky me, I needed to know the polarity before I hooked it up. And guess what, none of my drills had polarity symbols on them. I had to use my volt meter to figure it out. No big deal if the drill has some power left in it. Once I got it right, the end prong bent just from me pulling it out its cover. You better pull it out straight or it will bend or even probably break it. I thought the price was too low for a good versatile charger, and I was right. It did charged the drill, but you better keep an eye on it, my drill never got hot before when I charged it, it was a little warmer then normal. I double check to make sure I had the voltage right, and I did. I'm very dissatisfied with it, but its not worth my time or effort to send it back, so Ill keep it as a back up ...
When it works, it's good.
May 22, 2014
I bought this to replace a broken power supply for a Sangean radio. This Hosa cable worked very well for about a year. Then, without warning, it stopped working.I couldn't find anything better, so I bought another one. I hope this one lasts longer than the first. If his one fails too, I will downgrade my rating.UPDATE:Well, the second one lasted about a year and a half, and then it too suddenly stopped working. As promised, I am downgrading my rating from 3 to 2 stars. However, I have decided to order a third one because the price is low, and I don't feel like browsing and researching for a more durable replacement. For $11, I supposed I don't mind buying one every year and a half.
does not make good contact on the wall plug
February 23, 2012
I bought this adapter to replace a dead one. It's fine, but does not really make contact when it's plugged in the wall outlet. One has to bend it at a weird angle which is also time dependent and outlet dependent. I did not send it back because this was the only model I found on Amazon that could possibly work and if sent back it would have not been replaced (so I would have had to get a second one). I wrote to the company which makes them to see if I could bring it to a local shop (I think it is just necessary to bend the pins), but I got no answer...

December 4, 2015
I'm not sure why I even bothered trying this; I give myself 1 star as well for being gullible. Anyone who loves their electronics knows it's not a good idea to buy cheap electronics accessories. The minute I plugged this into it's intended target I smelled something bad and hear a disturbing low frequency humming. Scary, not good... waste of 8 bucks.
The voltages it outputs are way too high. Will fry electronics.
September 6, 2015
Voltages are horribly inaccurate. I hooked this up to one of my baby's vibrating bouncy chairs, and noticed it was vibrating much too fast. I pulled out my Fluke multimeter and checked the voltages at all settings. Here is a chart of what voltage the adapter says it outputs, versus what it really outputs.Adapter Actual1.5v 4.38v3v 6.87v4.5v 8.91v6v 10.95v7.5v 13.01v9v 15.58v12v 20.76vThis thing will fry your electronics, if used for anything more complicated than driving a simple motor. The only positive things I can say about this adapter, is that the polarity switch does indeed work.
Outputs wrong voltage and current values
March 2, 2015
Absolutely terrible product. Saying this was cheaply made would be an understatement.Output voltages do not match the selection. If I changed the voltage selection, the output did not change immediately, but over the course of 2-3 min (this means that somewhere in the circuit, there's a capacitor charging/discharging). I measured voltages of up to 22 V and currents of up to 1.6 A! This could have easily ruined the equipment I was planning to use it on.

February 21, 2017
Immediately ceased to function after a second adapter was inserted to power something else. The voltage it was set to was inaccurate, didn't match and was too low for the device it was plugged into to function correctly. IT'S NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURNS. The same item with a more convenient design is available at retail stores for the same price. So?AVOID THIS.

AVOID--Lasted only 40 DAYS--Just outside Amazon return policy
October 1, 2014
This purchase was a gamble because of the high number of poor reviews for this product. But it was within budget and our 4 year old kept burning through more expensive batteries with his Vtech Laptop. It worked perfect at first and we were very happy with it. However, after about 30 days, everytime we plugged it in, the LED would come on, then fade off. With a little finagling, we could get it to stay on. But this morning there was nothing we could do: I tried different outlets, tried an extension cord, tried different angles with the fold-down prongs, and tried different levels of entry into the socket (like half-plugged in). NOTHING, the LED would fade out everytime and no power. Our son was in tears and I had to break down and put in batteries. Guess I will be buying the $30 one with a 90-day return at our local electronics store afterall. I suspect the electronic issue is with the fold-down prong, which is an unnecessary feature that compromises what would be an otherwise good product. That said, I won't be buying any HOSA cables or music production equipment again either after seeing that they don't care about their reputation by selling garbage electronics like these.

This product lasted on the order of minutes- I bought it for an IP camera. The power supply seems to be made of cheap electronics, and after about 15 minutes, I noticed it was no longer supplying power to my IP Camera. Upon investigating, there is no way to fix the circuit inside- try another universal AC power supply, this one isn't worth buying.
