Buy a small bottle and see how you like it. If so
July 31, 2017
competitive price, quick delivery. I prefer this glue because it sets a bit slower (gives you more time for setup), and MUCH easier to spread than regular Elmer's wood glue (which I've used forever). It also is a bit more forgiving for stain and sanding than regular Elmer's. Buy a small bottle and see how you like it. If so, get the gallon and refill your bottle with it.
This is my wood glue of choice.
March 8, 2017
This is the old faithful, and it simply works. Properly glued wood joints with this are stronger than the wood itself. I know that we get loyal to brands we know, but there is a reason for that loyalty. When you know the product works, you go back to it again and again. I've tried Titebonds 18 versions of wood glue and never felt confident in picking the right one for the job at hand. (OK, I'm exaggerating. It's only Titebond original, i, ii, and iii; but should I actually have to do an internet search to figure out which glue I need to secure a wood joint?!) I tried the stainable version, which apparently they now call Max. Nothing bonds raw oak, poplar, or pine as securely as old faithful here. To get a perfectly stainable surface, just hand sand the glued joint after it dried to get back to the raw wood grain. It's not that hard, and the strength of the resultant bond is worth the extra minute of sanding to me. The glue when properly stored keeps well over time as well, but I do store mine indoors to avoid the affects of Texas summer garage heat.
Elmer's E7310 Carpenter's Wood Glue
May 28, 2016
The Elmer's E7310 Carpenter's Wood Glue is an excellent glue to use. Extremely strong bond, fast drying time and stains fairly well. So far my experience in staining over some little glue spots is: the glue stains a little lighter shade than the wood when the glue is 100% dry. If I run some stain over the glue while the glue is about 70% dry you don't see the glue spots. A stain pen works very well. Just run the pen along your seams and call it done. Very impressed with this wood glue.
Best glue - compared to several other glues
August 26, 2013
I am an analytical person so I bought several wood glues. Gorrilla wood glue, Titebond I, Titebond II, and this glue. They all seemed to have about the same holding strength, same working time. I am building high-end cabinets for my house.

I put a big glob of each glue on a piece of cherry wood, smeared it around, and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then I wiped each glob off and waited for it to dry. I lightly hand sanded the wood and applied a clear finish. The Elmers glue showed the least of all the glues, it was hardly noticeable. I used Minwax wipe-on polyurethane.

I have been buying only this glue for the last two years for my cabinet work and I am very satisfied with it. I have purchased it in gallon size and in 16 ounce size. I have been refilling my 16 ounce bottles but the nozzle tends to break after time. I have been using a "honey bear" container to finish up my gallon. I am tending to buy the 16 ounce size now so I will have glue bottles with nozzles available.
Elmers wood glue - what's not to love?
August 19, 2011
Deployed in Afghanistan with the Army and needed glue over here so I ordered some of the newfangled Elmer's "MAX" glue and had it shipped over. Built 5 sets of shelves, some tables and a bunch of miscellaneous things and where I have watched other things people have made fall apart in the heat, this stuff has held up admirably well so far. I'm a fan.

Since I only have the one bottle, I'm not sure if it's something way better than the non-MAX version, but I definitely like how it's worked so far. :)

July 13, 2016
Works get. It did just the job I intended it to do. I have my husband currently doing a project and this wood glue proved to be worth every penny. It did work great, my only complain is the smell other than that, it was a great buy.
A very versatile glue that really works well
February 23, 2016
This glue can be used for a lot of projects around the house. It is very good for bonding wood, and a lot of other things, too. The pros are that it is very strong, especially on porous materials such as wood, cardboard, paper and cloth. So it is great for household repairs and craft projects. It is non-toxic so you don't have to worry about children handling it. No fumes, either.

Cleanup is easy with a damp cloth. Also, when completely dry it can be finished with a bit of sandpaper. Water cleanup means that you can get it off your hands or clothes easily.

Elmer's glue is easy to work with. You apply it from the pop open top and it is the right thickness so that you can use a little or a lot as you need it. This cuts down on waste and keeps the glue from drying out in the container.

The only thing that you have to remember is that it takes about 24 hours to fully harden in most places. This is the major con.
Another con is you also have to do a good job of preparing the surfaces you will be gluing-- no oils, dirt, dust or old glue.

Because carpenter's glue is not fast-drying, you need to clamp or bind the items being glued in place for a while. If you are gluing cardboard or leather, you can put weights on the top. The good side of this is that you have some time to position the items and you can wipe off any excess glue without having to be in a big hurry.

Both my husband and I like this product very much and will likely buy it again. The new formula is resistant to the elements, mildew and molds. This makes it really great for a lot of household repairs, indoors and out (we are renovating our house)

Elmer's E7020 Carpenter's Wood Glue, 16 OuncesYou can't go wrong with Elmer's glue if you get the the one that is made for the job you are doing. I bought the wood glue to do my cat scratching post, while I had to wait to get other sisal I had some wood projects that needed done. This glue when used and clamped to dry is stronger than the wood. Before I used it for my project I tested with some scraps, very strong glue joints.
Very strong and waterproof, thick consistency and sets up fast.
May 3, 2015
This has a fast set-up and dry time similar to Titebond red but it is waterproof like Titebond green.

It has a thicker consistency than any of the Titebond glues because it has fine wood fibers mixed into it, much the same way you'd add chopped fiberglass or carbon fiber powder to epoxy resin to make it thicker and stronger and also fill gaps better.

The thicker consistency helps minimize dripping. Projects that I've used it on seem to be bonded very very strongly as you'd expect with any modern wood glue, "stronger than the wood it's bonding".

Very fast set up time means that I only use it for small or simple projects, anything with a complex glue up or multiple parts, much better to use Titebond 2 or 3 for the increased open time.

I see this as a good replacement for Titebond 1 (red) because it sets up just as fast, but I think that it's stronger (those wood fibers) and it's waterproof so you can use it for outside projects.

August 19, 2014
I have this 40 yr. old bookcase that I just could NOT give up on. It started "leaning" so I figured it was time to do something about it.

This IS a great glue. I did reinforce the wooden connections with my staple gun.

I will be buying more of this great glue.

Didn’t work for me
October 25, 2017
The glue dries dark brown. I don’t understand what is supposed to be stainable about that. It held as good as a wood glue should, but I already had wood glue. I was hoping for one that dries to a natural wood color.
Dispenser becomes clogged
August 15, 2017
Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue Max (reorder E7310), has worked well for several projects. However the dispenser on the 16 ounce version has become clogged every time that I used it. Other brands that I used in the past were always easy to open and did not become clogged.

bought it specially for my dinning chairs, it was gone lose. Did the job. It was steady as brand new. But that didn't last for too long (1-2 months), it got lose again
It's glue. Good price (at least when I got it).
November 15, 2013
It's glue. It sticks stuff together. Not much else to say. Elmer's is an 'old', reliable brand. This stuff has some tiny wood 'filings' in it- I guess that's supposed to make it better; I'm using it for other craft projects that require it be watered down… the wood sinks to the bottom, and is kind of gunky. If you don't have to worry about the stuff 'showing', it's good glue :)

Hope the glue is better than the container
June 2, 2017
Don't know if it works yet, but the applicator tip is worthless. Won't open or close, can't even move it with needle-nose pliers and cuss words. Hope the glue is better than the container.

Didn't work well for our wood project
Will become very thick after time so use it quickly.
February 7, 2017
After a year and a half of sparing use and careful closing of nozzle, the glue has dried up and has become very viscous to the point of being unworkable. The glue worked fine in the beginning so you'll have to work quickly to use it up. I've read that diluting with water will alter the adhesive properties for the worse. I'm not inclined to test that.
Good glue, bad packaging
January 17, 2014
Glue seems fine, typical wood glue. Only time will tell for sure. The two stars rating is for the bottle. It has the standard pop up cap, but it takes pliers or a large flat tip screwdriver to open. Even when it is open, the glue flows at a trickle--worthless for any large project. I had to put it in a squeeze bottle I bought at Malwart and now it works fine.

The description on Amazon said this glue is non-toxic, but that is not stated anywhere on the product, and therefore does not seem to be true at all. Very disappointing.
It seem like this glue bottle was old stock
March 7, 2016
It seem like this glue bottle was old stock, or had been opened before. The glue was dried up inside the bottle, had the consistency of a very thick paste. Unusable.
Bad batch
November 29, 2015
Perhaps this bottle was defective, but it was watery and when it finally dried, it popped right off the wood.

Dried out
July 16, 2015
The glue/brown part was dried up. There was some clear liquid inside on top of the dry brown part. I stirred it repeatedly, even took the cap off and stirred and stirred with a screwdriver all the way to the bottom of the container but it remained an extremely thick chunky, foamy substance. Could not use it.
