Five Star Reviews: | 83% it is great we are able to get it shipped to Hawaii ... February 22, 2017 it is great we are able to get it shipped to Hawaii now. On many other tries you wouldn't allow it to be. It is a great product and can be cut with the whiter Titebond glue Wood Glue August 30, 2016 The Titebond Dark Wood Glue is a great glue. It's more of a Khaki color. I was expecting a darker color than a tan like color. It's still the Titebond quality. When working with hardwoods that end up with a dark ... January 12, 2015 When working with hardwoods that end up with a dark finish, this dark pigmented glue is a must! I do not know why it is so hard to find. Some say that Titebond III is supposed to take its place. No way! This dark drying glue can be used to fix many mistakes on dark wood projects. It is worth stocking in your shop and has a long shelf life! Great Glue--Hides Imperfections August 22, 2014 Great glue with the normal holding power of a wood glue, but when it dries dark brown, it blends imperfections. I have used this glue for about 2 years on guitar repairs, and found it to be superior quality. And the dry dark thing, for me, is a real bonus! A Must-Have When Working With Dark Wood December 3, 2013 Franklin's Titebond II line of glues are a great choice for all kinds of wood working needs. The have a moderate "open time" meaning you've got several minutes to adjust the pieces being glued before the glue begins to set. Dark Titebond II is particularly handy for joining dark color woods or for joining pieces what will later be stained or dyed dark colors. It dries to a deep brown color that doesn't stand out from its surroundings. Titebond II Wood Glue, Dark September 11, 2013 I have used several other Titebond products; all have worked extremely well. This glue was no exception and worked like the others. Bought for use with darker wood projects- will buy again when needed. | 86% "Rated #1 By Pros" January 23, 2017 I'm not sure if they can back up that claim to fame -- but if it's not actually (officially) rated #1 by professionals, it should be.(Another apropos quote from the label is "Ultimate.")My favorite thing about this product is the cap, which seals air tight, like it's brand new, after each use. I'm impressed November 19, 2016 This glue has worked great for me! I'm doing picture frames with reclaimed wood and had planned on gluing and screwing the corners. I figured I'd see if this was the ultimate glue and didn't put screws in my first few joints and I think it is the ultimate. No swelling foam like with Gorilla Glue but just an amazingly strong hold. I can't bring myself to not add a screw just in case but I'm confident that this glue won't fail me. I plan on using no other glue now that I have tried this one.. Titebond is always the best glue for woodworking projects July 15, 2016 Titebond is always the best glue for woodworking projects. It holds better than anything else I've tried and isn't as much of a negative affect on stain. Some of the research I've read also suggests that it's notably more effective than the polyurethane products that end up being more brittle, easily crack and prevents stain from penetrating the grain.Titebond works far better in all of these areas, and it's easy to clean up. Strong, waterproof, easy to use June 26, 2016 I first bought this to build an end grain cutting board with and have since used it on some other projects as well. It bonds wood extremely well. I've separated pieces of walnut that had been glued together with this stuff and had the wood split before the glued seam. The only thing I ever use to bond stuff that is stronger than this is epoxy, which is much more expensive, harder to use, and difficult to clean up. As long as it hasn't set, Titebond III cleans up easily with water. Wet or dry, I've found it easy to get it off of my hands (though mine aren't very hairy, your results may vary). It also has that classic wood glue smell, which is all the more pleasant because it's not toxic to breathe. One thing worth noting that may be particular to Titebond is that the bottle tip is pretty resistant to getting filled up with glue and jamming. The Gorilla wood glue that I've used needs to be rinsed with water after pretty much each use in order to keep it open. This bottle never needs anything more than a little chipping off of dried glue from the outside. This stuff sets up quickly when clamped, cleans easily, and is as strong as any wood glue needs to be. Strong, long work time and easy cleanup. May 24, 2016 This glue is no joke. Used this stuff to make a sealed box for a pair of FI SSD 12's and it is holding up wonderfully. I even did some destructive testing on some scrap 3/4" mdf and it was crazy how much force it took to break the bond and even then it was the mdf that failed not the glue. Franklin International 1414 Titebond-3 Ultimate...- The Best!! February 7, 2016 I have been using Franklin International Titebond for 30+ years, when they came out with # II, I was impressed- but with the introduction of #3- I can't find a better wood glue. Even most of the oily exotic woods, wipe with acetone, let it dry- and go for it!- some oily woods do require epoxy, if you are doing an end-grain glue-up, put a thinned coat (not overly thin) to soak into the end grain- (That is the weakest type of glue joint, I always dowel or spline reinforce) - FYI, if doweling, drill about 1/16" deeper and slightly cut a countersink for excess. I also tape off my joints outside the actual wood to wood contact, then remove the squeezed out after 8-10 hours, it makes a very clean surface for the stain or any finish, since no grain is filled with glue, I absolutely love Titebond III, the best wood glue I have found- longer working time, extra strong and Amazon has the best price | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 17% Very good product, just as strong as normal T2 May 22, 2017 Very good product, just as strong as normal T2. Dries with an ever so slight reddish hue. My typical process is to wait for the squeeze out to get semi hard and then scrape but I found that it stained the wood (walnut) a bit. Nothing some decent sanding couldn't remove but would exercise caution when getting around lighter grain patches or an area without a lot of grain pattern to hide the color. All in all, my new go to for dark wood. A dark glue that works well. January 29, 2016 Until the come up with a glue that takes a stain this helps since I always use a dark stain. Satisfied with seller and product January 1, 2016 What I expected. Functions ok. Satisfied with seller and product. Good Product it Does dry to a darker wood color than other glues! November 22, 2014 Love the dark color when it dries! I do wish the glue was not so runny though. Thought it would be more viscous. | 8% good glue hardened glue in nozzle cant get it out June 15, 2017 good glue, but had hardened glue stuck in the spout and is clogged have to unscrew and use a popsicle stick to use, i will try and use isopropyl to dissolve it so i can use the spout, kinda annoying Pretty good glue December 16, 2016 I have used a lot of wood glues, and this is better than most. Residue was easy to clean around joints, and the bond was very strong. I would prefer a flip-top as this style causes the lid to glue itself shut after long storage. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 2% One big blob June 26, 2017 The glue appears to have been stored poorly. Perhaps freeze/thaw issues. It's a rather gelatinous blob inside the bottle and cannot come out the spout. I'll be buying my wood glue from the hardware store from now on. Three Stars December 12, 2016 Strong as can be, but stain will discolor. Make sure you wipe it off completely before it dries. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 2% Old stock? October 3, 2017 I love Titebond glue. But not this bottle purchased from Amazon. Perhaps it sat in a warehouse too long. The first inch in the bottle was too thin to use, like water. The remainder was too thick; held the bottle upside down for two minutes (imagine coaxing ketchup to the opening) and then having to squeeze with both hands to get some glue applied. Inconvenient and aggravating. It’s like the product needed to be remixed but you can’t easily stir or shake glue. All my future glue purchases will be at the local hardware or home center, not Amazon. Don't waste your money! March 20, 2017 It's no better than Elmers Wood Glue at triple the price!! If the wood that you're gluing is painted, it sticks to the paint, & even the slightest pressure will cause the glued joint to fail. Also advertised as needing little pressure--as in 'stick it together & it's stuck together', this glue is not viscous enough. If you don't lay the piece flat, the glued piece will not stay where you originally placed it. Not worth the $$ paid--went back to E6000 for my woodworking needs. This stays a bit rubbery and you cant sand it smooth to make an invisible joint in really nice wood. Probably great stuff if you November 28, 2016 I'm going back to Titebond II. This stays a bit rubbery and you cant sand it smooth to make an invisible joint in really nice wood. Probably great stuff if you just need stuff to stick together, but fine woodworkers of all sorts will be going back to II. Newer not always better February 6, 2016 I do a lot of close tolerance wood working making musical instruments, and have used titebond II for many years with great success. Just tried a bottle of Titebond III because of advertising claims. I built a dulcimer from scratch using walnut, curly maple, and western red cedar, and found this adhesive to be inferior in every way for my use than Titebond II. First, the skin time seems much faster allowing insufficient time to align parts, and excess glue squeezing from joints set up too fast to be removed by wet wiping. This left unsightly blotches in the final finish from glue in the wood pores. It also seems to have less surface tension as drips and runs were much worse than with Titebond II and difficult to remove. A test block of red cedar to maple broke at the joint tearing very little wood while an identical test of version two showed much stronger adhesion. I don't know how great this product may be for outdoor stuff but it sucks for making musical instruments, and I won't be using it again. Newer is not always better. open time??? June 12, 2012 This is a very strong glue. It recently won a fair and well-orchestrated glue face-off. I use it. But I'd like to know who came up with the 10-minute open time thing. To me open time is the time available to maneuver parts into position before applying clamp pressure. I recently made an oak picture frame (3" wide x 1-1/2" thick) with biscuits in the mitered corners. The parts came off the miter sled fitting perfectly. Prepared the glue-up table so I could work quickly and started. When all four pieces were in position (about 3 minutes max) the first corner had seized and would not close. Had to take the assembly apart, clean up the glue, retrim the corners, and do it again (using epoxy). By my definition this glue's open time is about 10 milliseconds. I definitely do not recommend it for even slightly complicated glue-ups. For straight-forward gluing it is fast and strong, ie, if you build some sort of jig for your shop you'll probably be able to use it within a few hours. But the 10-minute open time is a myth. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 0% There are no reviews yet | 2% Cap was plugged June 24, 2017 The glue cap was all plugged up out of the box and no air or glue could pass through the tip. Don't know whether this is an Amazon shelf-life, or a Titebond product problem. Set up in bottle October 13, 2016 Arrived in a gelatinous mass inside the bottle. I will order another bottle. Total failure December 3, 2008 I constructed a counter top of end grain hard maple. The end grain is the work surface; the joints are all flat grain. After a few months, in the area where the top is used most, all joints are failing. Examination under magnification shows that the glue simply softened. The top was thoroughly saturated with mineral oil. (General Finishes.) Either water or food or cleaning agents (I use Fantastic) caused total failure of the glue. After this experience, I won't use this glue for anything and will probably shift to something other than a Franklin product for quick glue jobs. All critical jobs will be done with epoxy. | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet | 0% There are no reviews yet |
