Five Star Reviews: | 79% I'm not a contractor November 1, 2017 Primary use has been demo and framing on a residential remodel.Like: Extra weight and size compared to my Estwing 16oz finish hammer of 20 years. Magnet on top of head for picking up nails/screwsDon't Like: Length - necessary for driving framing nails, but not so good as a primary in demo work. Other tools fill the void. Just buy it September 20, 2017 There's no better way to take out your remodeling frustrations than with a framing hammer. Good balance, excellent grip. Nice hammer works well when you have to do a ... August 30, 2017 Nice hammer works well when you have to do a little hammer time Epic Hammer for Stellar Jobs May 3, 2017 Maybe it's a combination of my and the hammer's ergonomics, but it feels lighter than 28oz. Love it! I laugh because we have several smaller hammers in our house that are by far his least favorite. He loves this hammer and wishes September 16, 2015 Husband calls this is MAN hammer! I laugh because we have several smaller hammers in our house that are by far his least favorite. He loves this hammer and wishes he would have purchased it sooner. The grip is nice and when in swinging motion he said it just flows! He is very impressed with the Stanley brand and has decided to continue to purchase the brand as he has nothing but good to say about it! Great hammer for those DIY framing for bigger projects January 1, 2015 I like this hammer. The weight and balance suit me well. Grip is very comfortable and I don't feel any vibration. Striking face is large. Magnetic nail starter works. I use this mostly for knocking framing into place and some nailing. The nail gun does most of the nailing. If I was doing a lot more nailing of long, large nails, I'd get the 28 oz version in a heartbeat. | 49% Price point great for what is provided May 28, 2017 Price point great for what is provided. Quality is good. Haven't need a framers belt in years. Like the shoulder harness takes most of the weight of the belt. Definitely lot of pockets for tools. this is a product that will hold up for a long time April 14, 2017 great product and well worth the money.. well made with heavy stitching and heavy nylon straps. great fit for a small or large person. have seen very similar products at over twice the price and not made nearly as well great March 21, 2017 seems to be great quality. i really needed a belt over the shoulders, as ones ive used over the years are on my hips, at that bothers my back now... Good product! March 16, 2017 Great belt for those needing space and convenience. Comfortable for a big and tall man Would definitly recommend February 8, 2017 Fantastic product. Belt is long and has plenty of notches to fit a range of people, I'm a 32 and I could make it much tighter. Suspenders fit nice, easy to adjust, but the shoulder straps need to be able to fit over the adjuster for shorter people. Mine lay barely on my shoulders, almost on my back. But the pouches are fairly light, belt fits well, and the suspenders are still comfortable and take the weight right off. 9/10. | 78% Heavy duty decent quality for the money September 22, 2017 Well made, heavy duty cats paw. Worked great first use without issue, and sharp! Recommended, will likely get many years of great use out of it! What a small and usefull tool August 27, 2017 Had my passenger side back door jammed by hitting hanging bucket of sand by accident and this small thing helped pull out some bends. I could believe at first, but then got recommended cat paw and bender pullers and almost got it back to original condition except few marks. Great for Rough Carpentry/Demo. July 18, 2017 Great product for ripping nails out of rough construction.Pros: Holds up to the roughest conditions.Rips nails right out.Cons: Easy to mar wood. Not suggested for anything other than rough construction. One of my favorite tools. I use it mostly when removing subfloor ... June 1, 2017 One of my favorite tools. I use it mostly when removing subfloor and it is a life saver. The other guys at work instantly had to get one of their own once they tried it. heavy duty May 6, 2017 heavy duty sharp clawed cat's paw. only thing I didn't like is to see, "made in China", but it well made, a good tool to have in your pouch | 77% Stanley 46-071 Premium Quick Square August 6, 2017 Excellent product I would buy it again, and recommend it to anyone who's looking for something like this especially for this low priceWorks exactly like it should be not much to say about it! It does what it's design/made for.I would recommend to a friend! Great all-around tool for handy people July 28, 2017 I had never heard of this tool, but my sister asked me to get one for a remodeling project we did. It's amazing. The easiest way to make sure things are perpendicular, excellent for measuring small spaces, great for drawing a line on a piece of trim before you cut it. Everyone handy should have one of these. Nice Basic Squaring Tool March 9, 2017 No complaints. It is a very useful tool and this one is adequate for my basic need for a straight line and help with calculating the angles. It is replacing a plastic one I was very attached to but all the numbers wore off so maybe this metal will be an improvement. Exactly as described. May 19, 2016 Square had a small cosmetic nick when it arrived but not the products fault.Pros: The yellow on black lettering is easy to read, and cut into the metal so it won't rub off quickly. Metal construction feels like it will take a few accidental drops. Can't beat it for the price.Cons: Not much to find fault with, the only thing I could see as a potential issue for others is that the notches for the numbering are a little rough and might scratch or scar a nicer wood project. Quality Square November 14, 2015 This is what you would expect from a quality brand like Stanley. I love how light this square is for being made of metal and it has held up very well in the several months that I've owned it. I'm a machine maintenance technician and my tools get a lot of use and quality is a big deal for me. This is one of those tools that is definitely worth buying for the long haul. Can't be beat for the price! October 21, 2015 I've only recently started woodworking, so in all honesty, I still consider myself the rankest of amateurs. That being said, this speed square has been one of my most used tools and is invaluable! I originally purchased the square to use as a crosscut guide for my circular saw (and for which purpose this little guy excels), but since then it's come in handy for making quick measurements while building tables and other pieces of furniture. There's not a lot else to say--this tool is straight, useful, and most certainly adds speed to my projects. Also keep in mind that if you receive a square that truly isn't straight (as we all know manufacturing defects are not impossible), you can use Stanley's lifetime warranty to get this replaced. I recommend this square wholeheartedly! | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Four Star Reviews: | 13% good feel, claw nicely sharp won't miss small nailheads August 7, 2017 long handle, good feel, claw nicely sharp won't miss small nailheads. ... oz is heavier then I thought but it hits like a sledge March 8, 2017 28 oz is heavier then I thought but it hits like a sledge hammer These are great hammers I love the Stanley anti-vibe system for framing ... September 23, 2016 These are great hammers I love the Stanley anti-vibe system for framing hammers and it will be the only kind of hammer ill use their excellent as far as material workmanship they take the stress off your hands when you're pounding on nails and wood all day they can take a beating they last forever just keep them out of water spray some WD-40 on it keep rust to a minimum the little nail set thing on top I never was to good at using it I suppose it would work better for someone who practiced with it more this hammer is an excellent Stanley product everything you would expect from Stanley Great hammer if it didn't have a waffle head September 14, 2016 Great all around hammer for the price. I didn't realize it had a waffle head and had to grind it smooth for my needs. Great hammer, but the metal handle makes it heavy September 15, 2013 Fatmax is awesome. the waffle head is wide and flat, and it is balanced perfectly. The claw is a little wide, so pulling nails grouped closely is harder, but my only grip is with the weight of the hammer. I didn't account for the weight of the handle, and the hammer is quite a bit heavier then the Fatmax of the same weight with a wooden one. However, I think I'll be able to pass this one onto the next generation. Great roughing hammer for students and pros alike. | 26% Built for big guys. Great quality. September 11, 2017 At maximum shortest adjustment still need to modify shoulder straps as this is built for a bigger, fatter guy than me - but with very loose belt, I'm able to get that weight off my hips - which was the point. I'm about 190/5'10" this is just too big as it ships. Four Stars August 25, 2017 Fits waist between 29in to 46in. Problem exist with shoulder straps that don't thighten up enough. Chalkline pocket ripped (pic included) July 30, 2017 Received this today and the pocket where the chalkline goes is ripped open so basically it's not a pocket, just a side flap. Check picture. Nice tool bag, Comfortable April 7, 2017 So far so good. Lot's of pocket space, possibly even too much. My only complaint is one of the rivets around the holes in the belt came off in the first couple of uses. they are a well made good product and I recommend them often February 8, 2016 we do a class of women carpenters and the tool belts that you can get directly from the stores seldom fit women. These do and they fit them well.I have bought these several times and will in the future. they are a well made good product and I recommend them often. Thanks!!!! to the folks who put them together and their pride in the product they put out ,,, it shows! Father's Day June 21, 2012 I purchased this item for my husband for Father's Day. I was sure the shoulder harness would be a help to his back. He liked the harness and found it comfortable but the complete belt as shown is heavy before any tools are added. I did not understand that 'flat bottom' ment the multiable sturdy pouches would be very stiff and stick out so much as to make the overall product a little clumsy. A picture of a person actualy wearing the belt would have been helpful to me. I thought the many pockets would be useful and puchased the tools recomended with my order. The quality of this belt is high and looks as though it would last a professional for years. My husband is extremeny handy, he has refurbished a house a goes on many mission trips to help others, but this particular tool belt harness combo is too heavy and clumsy for him. I would like to return it but I bought the belt in early May and Father's Day is mid June, past the 30 day return limit. So, yes my husband and I would both recommend this item for a professional and I will never again purchase a gift in advance from Amazon. | 13% ok July 2, 2017 Better than old Stanley. Looks and feels it would take the beating but the tips are not as sharp edged like the photo. Have a real cats paw that does work better, but is a specialty tool December 8, 2016 Sufficient for getting out buried nail heads. I was looking for a real cats paw for some of our tool boxes for some of my guys. Have a real cats paw that does work better, but is a specialty tool. I also bought some real cats paw tools, but keep these in the tool boxes as they work good. | 16% It's all right July 12, 2017 It arrived with a crack all the way around the 1 inch. Not sure how long it will last. But it was cheap. Yellow color on black is great! You can read everything easily. Very easy and quick to use May 2, 2017 I purchased this for use in building a bed for my daughter. The loft bed needed stairs and a platform, using a square to build the steps was easy.It worked very well with 2x4 and 2x6 lumbar to get things together. Particularly it made easy work of getting the stairs setup, measured and in the right spots. If you're using 2x10 or larger I suggest you look for a slightly larger square. You could probably make this work but a larger one would be easier to use. For 2x8 and smaller this should work perfect. My photo shows the square on a 2x6 standard pine lumber.I'm glad I purchased this and wish I had one to use with other projects sooner. Great tool September 15, 2016 A friend of mine introduced me to this type of square while we were doing some remodeling in my basement so I picked up this stanley version of the swanson speed square and overall i'm pretty happy with it. The rafter or speed square as a general class of tool is absolutely amazing. I don't know how i've never used or owned one before. Stanley's version is good solid tool it is missing the little teeth on the inside that you can use to draw lines at set distances along the length of a board that is part of the name brand design. overall i'm happy with this tool and will use it for years. If i was buying again i'd go with the swanson one just for that extra feature Just one more thing on the list of tools we need to build some basement walls this summer, very nice square. May 13, 2016 We bought a house with an unfinished basement, I was building a list of supplies we will need to complete some walls put up insulation make it more family friendly and most important not so cold in the Michigan winters :) The quick square was one thing mentioned over and over, I wasn't even sure how to use it honestly but now after some DIY videos and youtube help I realize once we build walls this will help us to make sure they are true beyond just the use of a level and to cut true stud edges, Inexpensive yet effective it was on the list which I am almost done filling and hope to tackle those walls early summer of 2016 ;) A simple but utterly essential tool for small projects. April 9, 2016 A simple but utterly essential tool for small projects. I use this almost every single time I am making cuts on a small project. The markings are clear and rugged enough that they do not appear to be wearing with use/abuse, as this thing does get knocked around quite a bit. Mine arrived straight and ready for use, which is basically all I wanted. I wasn't asking for much when I went shopping for a straight edge, and I have yet to find anything wrong with this straightforward Stanley product, except PERHAPS to say that yellow markings for measurements are perhaps not a good choice, as they tend to be a little more 'fuzzy' in bright light, which you hopefully have in your shop. That you're working outside in the daylight. Either way, yes we know your product colors are black and yellow Stanley.Stop making tiny numbers yellow please. If there were a way to mess this up, I would be impressed. And disappointed.Fortunately, I am neither of these things. Works great, doesn't bend, resistant to wear. Cheap. I know the obvious ways to use this speed square ... August 3, 2015 I know the obvious ways to use this speed square, just wish it came with instructions for all of the other marks.I don't use speed squares that often so i don't know how to use all the features. | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Three Star Reviews: | 3% Pretty Good hammer. November 1, 2016 I had a piece of the cleat break off with a swing and the piece became embedded in my lip. Had to do "surgery" in my rearview mirror with tweezers to get it out. Other than that its a pretty good hammer. Hammer review February 8, 2013 The fatmax xtreme Antivibe hammer is awesome, however the model that came in the mail is slightly different than the picture, I was disappointed about that, but I love the hammer. It can be little dangerous May 1, 2008 I would doubt that most of you looking for a Stanley FatMax hammer are doing so for survival in 2012. I bought mine for framing and carpentry work and it has several issues that make it one of those hammers that I have and not one that I prefer on a daily basis. It has a flare on the end that makes it all but impossible to easily use with a metal hammer ring on your tool belt. It constantly catches on the ring when pulling the hammer out and you must tilt it to get it to drop back into the loop. Also, if the hammer catches on anything like a ladder you're coming down it will not pull out of your hammer loop and it can literally leave you hanging. It also gives off a ping sound when you hit a nail and unlike a golf club doing so it becomes very annoying very quickly. This comment would apply to all the FatMax hammers regardless of weight because the design is the same for all. I'll leave the hammer around on the job site but won't use it with a tool belt. It's a rugged hammer but not well thought-out for the construction trade or weekend builder. | 10% I am 5'8 and the suspenders do not fit me ... July 23, 2017 I am 5'8 and the suspenders do not fit me. I had the tightened all the way up and the belt still sagged below my waist. So, for you short guys, this isn't the rig for you. To everyone else, the belt is decently made. It is'nt the one shown in the pictures. The pouches are huge with minimal compartments. If you're looking for a "bucket" style pouch, this will fit your needs. they are allright i ben over alot at work and ... April 5, 2017 they are allright i ben over alot at work and the bags always want to move around alot and wish there was a inner pocket for my torpedo level and tin snips but other than that they are alright Needs chest strap May 20, 2015 Needs chest strap. Falls off shoulder. Very annoying. Other than that they are decent bags. Pockets make sense for the tools/nails/screws I need to carry. It looks like the previous CLC bags that these replaced have a shoulder strap that wont slide off. Should have bought those. These are a downgrade. The pads on the shoulder straps are annoying too. They slide around and never stay on your shoulder. They need to be attached permanently to the strap to actually be of some use. It's a great pouch for holding everything you need but very bulky ... March 20, 2015 It's a great pouch for holding everything you need but very bulky and it's hard to put on at times due to the belt sliding off the pockets. But not a bad purchase. Wouldn't buy it again though. Great buy March 17, 2015 I am very happy with these bags. The pockets are very large. There is plenty of space to compartmentalize all your tools. The suspenders connect to the bags by metal loops which help prevent sagging and weight on your hips. The price is very affordable. These bags are better then my $200 leather husky bags. | 4% It does pull nails. But it cannot be used ... March 12, 2016 It does pull nails. But it cannot be used to grab or pull the nails if they are fully fastened and there is no gap at all between the head of the nail and the object to which it is fastened. Seems a good nail puller - label August 26, 2015 Seems a good nail puller - label, though, reads "WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm." My girlfriend decided not to go anywhere near it, and I'm thinking it seems a little strange that a nail puller should cause cancer. Its not having been made in the USA, I can understand that some chemicals are used in its production that wouldn't be up to US health regulations. I wish I had seen something about this before I ordered it, though - I'm not going to pay to ship it to anyone else, and I don't have the funds to just buy a new one - but that warning label is something to be aware of before you welcome this into your home. | 3% It's a typical speed square, but the edges are ... April 20, 2017 It's a typical speed square, but the edges are not completely smooth. Where the markings of the ruler are, it is grooved along the edges, so it creates a semi-jagged edge. It still allowed me to use my circular saw to run straight cutting some wood. But when drawing lines, it can be bumpy. I found some speed squares at Home Depot that were more of what I wanted and it was 2 for $7. I prefer the Craftsman speed square January 10, 2016 It's a speed square. It gets the job done. However, I ended up getting a Craftsman speed square from Sears. It's now my main one. It's also made out of aluminum, but a thicker gauge, meaning it's less likely to warp or break. It also have some features that the Stanley does not, such as the ability to scribe a parallel line between 1" and 5.5" off the edge of a piece of wood. What that means is if you plan on ripping a board that's 8 foot long, and need to take 3 inches off, you can use the Craftsman to quickly draw the cut line. With the Stanely you'd have to use a chalk line. Another plus is that Craftsman speed square is made in the USA, so you're helping your neighbor, while the Stanley is made in Tiawan. nice, color coded - solid piece of a tool September 15, 2015 looks really good in my garage, will have to find a use for it soon when i decide to do something around the house. easy to read and nice size for most projects you can fathom Could be more square... September 9, 2014 I don't think it's 100% square. Many times have I found a slight discrepancy between this and Stanley's Combination T-square. The discrepancy also exists between lines drawn with this square and cuts on my miter saw. The "check" that makes me SURE it's this tool is after marking a line on one side of a 2x4 and checking that same line from the other side of the 2x4... they're always slightly off angle. Perhaps the paint or powder coating on it makes it uneven? you very read the specifications it is only 6". ... July 13, 2014 you very read the specifications it is only 6". It is well designed and has several scales which is really go to have, looks strong I have not use it very much but it seems good | 0% There are no reviews yet |
Two Star Reviews: | 2% To large striking face November 17, 2015 Unless your going to drive rail road spikes the larger head just get in the way. Just don't drop it May 18, 2014 The hammer worked fine for a couple of years until one day it fell off my sawhorse and landed on the concrete floor of my workshop and the head broke off. The forged head and handle broke from a fall of about 3 feet. I went back to my old wooden handle framing hammer. | 8% I work as a carpenter carrying around various tools so I used these daily and I put them to good use. I noticed recently that on the right ... October 8, 2017 Bought these in June 2017, I work as a carpenter carrying around various tools so I used these daily and I put them to good use. I noticed recently that on the right side there is a fastener that is completely busted. The bags ripped at the fastener and the harness no longer holds the bags right, now looking at my left side I see that the same thing is also happening so my bags are done. They worked well for the ~4 months I had them but I wished they lasted longer for me. Not what exected. September 1, 2017 It was not what I expected. In the picture display, it shows two eye hooks on both pouches and a center support in the back. What I got was a single eye hook on each pouches with a single support in the back. It will last about 2 years. June 16, 2016 I've been using it for work every day for the past couple years and its falling apart. Oh well 😐. The phone holder works great if you still have a flip phone 😐. An I phone wont fit. I'm 6' 210 pounds and if I'm working in the winter with a lot of clothes I have to really suck it in to get it on the last belt loop Great Quality and good price December 2, 2015 Haven't used them yet but haven't found clc in the stores for a long time and these are made of the high quality I remember.Dead on and those others being sold at the big box stores are all crap. Craftsmen were ok but had a problem with their belt not being small enough or Shoulder straps shortening enough.I'm 5'8 and about a 32-33" waist. These clc were great fitting right out of the box and tight enough in the waist.Rings and hooks on suspension rig are seemingly heavy duty quality and the new design appears that they will not slide down or creep up to much and rub my neckline like many other suspension rigs I have had.Only other pair of hip bags I have had are the neon ones that were more expensive. Unfortunately, after having used them in the field, the bags seemed to droop outwards and have dropped tools out of the bags while walking around. Lost tools and bits and such because of it. Had to change from 5 to 2 stars.Only bags I have ever owned that have done this really, that I can remember. Almost as if they were made of cheaper nylon and flimsy. Having tools abd drill motor dropping out off of ladders even is no good. Perhaps a design flaw of some type? It would be easier to use the pouch if they ... August 23, 2015 It would be easier to use the pouch if it was more adjustable to side of the hip's, not the back. Also not being able to see which pouch to pick from makes it hard to use. Tried reversing the set-up to the front without success. Very uncomfortable. I have an older leather pouch similar to this one and it's adjustable. I'll try swapping it with someone. Who know's.. | 3% Made in tiawan May 10, 2017 Only reason I purchased this was because item description said forged in USA. Not as advertised, it is made in Taiwan Poorly Designed June 5, 2016 I bought this puller and the 14" Stanley Fat Max Claw for a big deck job I was helping a friend to do. The Stanley worked great, this one not so much. It is too small for the work I typically do, and, even worse, the design of the claws doesn't allow them to slide easily under embedded nails, so it is pretty much useless to me. My friend liked it ok, so I gave it to him at the end of the job. He just uses his tools around the house, so he figured it was better than not having any nail pullers at all. I wouldn't recommend it to another carpenter October 13, 2015 The right-angled claw side does not dig out the heads of framing nails as well as my old [lost] one. Too much of the wood has to be dug out to grab the nail. Further, the tool is a bit too long in hanging from one's tool belt...constantly clanging against things as you move around the job site. I wouldn't recommend it to another carpenter. | 1% For some reason, only one side (the side with ... May 24, 2017 For some reason, only one side (the side with the Stanley logo) is in square. I cut a lot of 2 x 4s before I realized that they were cut on a slight angle. But when I flipped the square over to the side with the logo, the line squared up. Inch Measurements Off / Yellow Lettering Blotchy July 25, 2015 Yellow indented lettering poorly applied with black showing through so it's not easy to read at a glance. Also the inch measurements do not line up with the beginning pivot point, so accuracy is compromised. Very cheap made in China item and I expected better quality from a Stanley brand product. I would return it but it's not worth the hassle for me. Not a straight-edge - Poor quality control (or design) May 21, 2015 The measuring edge is severely curved down/inward for more than the last inch, making it useless as a straight-edge past 4-5 inches. Unsure if it's a design flaw or single item defect. Exchanged for another brand/similar item. use to love this square because it was thinner than the rest April 28, 2015 use to love this square because it was thinner than the rest , but now it is the same as all the rest nothing special Sharp edges, not square, more expensive than Swanson... May 23, 2014 I'm returning this square because of its very sharp edges first. As soon as I picked it up I was concerned about being cut. Second, not everything is square on it. Also, the original Swanson Speed Square is less expensive (granted I'm now paying a shipping fee for the return) and there aren't scribe notches on this square (my fault for not looking at it more closely and assuming they'd be there). So, look at the original Swanson before you buy this one. Thin Aluminum July 28, 2013 This square is pretty standard and seems accurate. The downside is that it is made out of somewhat thin aluminum. I stepped on it once and bent it easily. My swanson square is thicker and has never bent with the occasional misstep. I'd recommend buying the swanson instead. | 0% There are no reviews yet |
One Star Reviews: | 3% nail puller is really bad. Not worth it September 12, 2017 Balanced okay, nail puller is really bad. Not worth it. missleading image July 7, 2012 This item has missleading image description, the product code it's the same but it's away different from the image, the backside of the hammer is much wider also the front too and black, it looks like it's completely different model but the thing is that the image on the webstore is fault. thank you ... At least once a day i spill nails out of the left bags because they dont stay put. Also the framing square "pocket" is a joke One Star July 6, 2015 This product ripped within the first week of having it. I would never purchase again!!! One Star April 4, 2015 Not set up properly for right handers. Whoever designed this is not a tradesman/user. Not worth the money February 11, 2015 Got these bags and was really excited about them. The tabs holding the suspenders to the bags ripped out after an hour and I only had electrical tools in the bags. The pouch for the speed square is useless and seems almost to eject the square when you walk any distance. Instead of sewn pouches for tools on the inside of the bags there is mostly a length of elastic sewn every inch. Holds nothing securely. Made with good material, poor workmanship and worse design.Went back to my old ripped bags. I wish I had not wasted t he money | 2% | 3% I guess the glue was an added bonus. February 14, 2017 So product looks good minus all of the glue like substance that came on it. One Star October 3, 2016 Like everyone else says, arrived bent and out of square. Purchase the Swanson instead Square not very square August 8, 2016 Squares are not straight off of flanges and not exactly 90 degrees at the square angle! gees, the one thing a square needs to get right. I bought two and set them against each other on a flat glass surface and on a precise machining surface. They are both off and certainly off from each others. I returned them. WILDLY INACCURATE March 6, 2016 I used this to mark and cut 60° angles on the ends of 4x6 timbers. After making 36 cuts and assembling my project, I discovered the angles were not true, so nothing fit tight. So I went back on a scrap piece and made another cut another right at the 60° mark, just as before. Then I measured it with another protractor. The angle was off by 2 or 3 degrees! NOT HAPPY. This one arrived today and I'm pretty disappointed with it April 19, 2015 II ordered this square because my grey Empire is hard to read in low light. This one arrived today and I'm pretty disappointed with it. It feels a little cheap, but for less than $6 I didn't expect much. The real problem is that the 'ears' at the pivot are rounded off. I often use the square to transfer lines around corners on posts, studs, etc. I'll try to exlain what's wrong. The piece of metal that creates the lip you put against the edge of the workpiece is the problem. At the pivot point, this piece creates an edge, when the flat part of the square is on a surface, that goes around the corner. when transfering lines around corners I put the long edge of the square on my mark or line, and use the lip or spine to dray a mark around the corner.Trouble is that on this square the end of the lip piece is rounded off causing the marks I transfer to be off by almost 1/16". Transfered around 4 corners, this makes for nearly 1 1/4" error. Not acceptable for the level of work I do. I'll be doing the paint trick on my old empire to make it easier to read ant this stanley will end up in a toolbox or given to a kid for a toy. | 0% There are no reviews yet |
